These books are not Nobel Prize winners. That being said, they ARE incredibly fun, witty romances. All of the Misty Harbor books that I have read are sweet and fun, with just enough spice to keep things interesting.

Marcia Evanick perfectly describes the trials and tribulations of love and relationships. She weaves several tales into one book, keeping each story interesting.

If you're looking for a fun, happily ever after read, the Misty Harbor books are perfect. Read them in order, so you can really get to know the characters.

My friend initially thrust this book into my hands. I wasn't chomping at the bit to read about a woman moving to a small town to start a restaurant. I wasn't put off by the idea either- thankfully. Small towns have a way of sucking me in.

This book isn't a fast paced thriller, nor is it an enigmatic mystery. Plain and simple it is a story of man, woman, food and love. Not necessarily in that order.

The book made me long for a town such as Misty Harbor, Main where the eligible bachelors far out number the eligible women (gotta love those odds!). If you're looking for laughs, small town gossip, twin vikings and romance, then this is probably a good read for you.

I stumbled upon this book at the library, and after reading such heavy books as "Da Vinci Code", etc..., I wanted to read something light. I've also been disappointed by several books that I read lately as well..."Pushing 30" and "English As A Second Language."

The cover looked a bit cheesy, but I figured what the heck...I'm from Maryland and never been to Maine. I loved the book. It was fun and easy reading. I finished it in two days. I didn't have to do alot of thinking, and all the characters are charming.

I am reading "Blueberry Hill" by the same author (the third book of the series), and it's not as good, but enjoyable. I can't seem to get a copy of the second book of the series "Christmas on Conrad Street." I guess I'll have to order it on the internet.

This was a very nice read. Gwen and Daniel were great characters alone with all the others. I especially liked Jonah and clarence. I looked forward to reading the entire sequel.

For fans of modern romantic fiction, this book is a must-read!

While it includes the fairly typical "romance" inherent to the genre, something altogether different makes it irresistibly charming: the creative and active interplay between a wide variety of characters, all of whom are interesting and full-bodied in their own right.

Our heroine, Gwen, has moves to Maine from Maryland to open her own restaurant. There, she encounters a band of mostly-male locals who range in age from early twentysomething to geriatric. All have one thing in common -- utter adoration of this young, pert, classy young woman who's promised to cook them something OTHER than lobster once her restaurant opens. When Gwen offers to let the little fan-club act as unofficial taste-testers ahead of the restaurant's opening (just to ensure that she's able to satisfy the tastes and expectations of the community), the men practically start to drool. Make sure you eat before you read or you'll find yourself nibbling insatiably! Not since Dickens' David Copperfield is there so much good eating in a book.

However, as is required in this genre, Gwen has eyes for just one of the men, and his eyes are firmly fastened on her despite the rather predictable issues that arise to prolong their eventual union.

Still, everyone from the restaurant's ne'er do well waitress to the grandfather (!) of the male lead to the recently crowned sous-chef is intriguing, witty, and altogether satisfying... worthy of a story in his or her own right. Evanik reprised some of these characters in this novel's companion book, Christmas on Conrad Street, which is a worthwile read all on its own.

Krista Cantrell is the expert I (as an educator) recognize: Learning Styles evaluation for dogs-well, duh, of course! Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for individual dogs-How lucky could your dog get to have this quality educational attention, learning diagnosis, and training consultation! How lucky you and I are to have found such an organized master trainer who is so able to communicate practical exercises, so that our dogs are safe in our often unsafe human world. Easy and Short Training Techniques that Work!.......2005-02-01

The techniques really work and are simple to implement. Krista even explains how to evaluate your dog to help you understand how your dog learns. Her writing is easy to understand, and she uses real life stories.

The training is broken down into five-minute lessons and even shorter ten-second sessions that reinforce the behavior. Each lesson is step-by-step reinforcing basic commands such as sit, down, stay, etc. but played like a game. My dog loves our "training" time since she just thinks she's playing.

Krista includes help sections throughout the book to help you get the dog's attention. She also provides techniques to change a dog's unwanted behavior such as excessive barking.

I really recommend this book for the fun-loving, busy person who wants a well-behaved dog for a companion.

I love this book.
It is easy to read and understand. It starts with evaluation of the dog and assesing the strenght and weakness of his/her learning abilities. Training...or better called teaching-is set of games, what dogs love.
I really appreciate the teaching strategy of looking at owner and paying attention- without jerking collar or using prong collars! That's an absolut must in training.
There is also part about bad habits. And some Earth energy massage for your dog, if you are into "chi".

Krista's technique takes a common sense approach and a gentle way for our animals to learn "acceptable" behavior. I have brought 3 of my dogs to her classes - based on this book - and have seen dramatic differences in their behavior. Mostly though, this book helps the human companion learn how to work with and listen to their animals. I hope more people take on this progressive approach to non-violent training.The energetic healing chapter adds a new dimension to behavior therapies.

Excellent book! I bought it directly from Krista in AZ, she really knows what our animals are thinking! This will help the novice and those just touching up on dog communication skills. The breathing, centering ideas are similair to TTouch principles and REALLY work!

Captain Quigley, the token human (or "hairless beach ape," in the local dialect), is bent on Sherman's destruction. This ambition may be traced to the fact that Quigley is a crusty old fisherman and Sherman is a fish. Or it may be traced to a long-ago incident in which Sherman ate Quigley's leg.

We met Sherman & Friends in the SFO Chronicle, but they aren't in our local newspaper, so we acquire each collection as it is published. Jim Toomey's undersea cartoons are laugh-out-loud for our family. Then they go into the sailboat's library.

I personally think Jim Toomey is the consistently funniest cartoonist working today.

When I open my morning paper, I go right to Sherman's Lagoon first thing, because I know it is going to make me laugh.

This collection illustrates just how funny man-eating sharks can be, especially when supported by crabby con-artist crabs, bookish sea turtles and polar Bear party animals.

I put Sherman's Lagoon on the same plane as Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County and the Far Side: classics all.

"Catch of the Day" is a collection of four short romantic, wedding stories by different authors beginning with Brides Gone Wild by Cathie Linz which is the charming story of Pam Greenley, a floral designer, who runs into her first love and high school sweetheart, Michael Denton. Michael ended their relationship when he left for college 10 years ago, and they have not seen each other since except at their high school reunion just a month ago when they fell into bed with each other and Michael left again without a word. Now Michael is back in town for his cousin's wedding which is only one of the five weddings that Pam is coordinating the flowers for this weekend. Pam is determined to avoid Michael, but he keeps popping up and making her realize that even though she is still attracted to him she refuses to be hurt by him again. Michael, who wrote a book called, How to Hook Your Guy, under a pen name, is determined not to get hooked in the foreseeable future but simply cannot fight his continuing attraction for Pam. Funny situations arise in this romantic comedy set in a very nosy small town in which the town gossip has her own blog!

Lissy Charteris and Will Fraser seem to have the perfect relationship. They really love each other and have the most steamy sex life until Lissy comes up with the idea of abstinence for the two weeks prior to their wedding. So The Bet and much sexual frustration ensue as Will tries to entice Lissy to attack him while she drives him to near insanity with temptation. It is rumored that Quinn is involved in white slavery, is an ex-con, and also may be responsible for the disappearance of two film stars that vanished five years ago when Quinn was the last person to see them alive. But Tasha quickly finds out things are not always what they seem as she goes swinging over the canopy of trees in the jungle, helps to hide refugees, and aids Quinn in the coverup of the murder of the head of Costa Playa's secret police all while trying to understand her intense attraction to Quinn.

In The Wedding Party by Whitney Lyles Meg Thomlinson is hopeful to reconnect with Mason Strout the guy she dumped several months ago only to realize that maybe she made the mistake of her life. They are both in her best friend's wedding party, and Meg is hoping that they can pick up where they left off. But just when Meg thinks life is back on track with Mason she meets Bill who is also in the wedding party and is now wondering if he could possibly be the man of her dreams especially when they get stranded in Mexico together.

**** I really enjoyed these combined romantic stories which make a fun and delightful read as four women each find their `Catch of the Day'! This book would make an entertaining beach read. ****

I loved Pamela Clares story, Heaven Can't Wait. It was sensual and totally hot! Have not read the rest yet, but if they are anything like her its a must read!!!

"Brides Gone Wild" by Cathie Linz. In Serenity Falls, Pennsylvania, the upcoming weekend would be hell if the five brides cooperated, but not one does as the owner of Bloomers Flowers Shop Pam knows first hand. On top of that her high school boyfriend Michael is back in town insisting long distance relationships cannot work even as he keeps kissing her while also hiding the truth about a book he wrote.

"Heaven Can't Wait" by Pamela Clare. Lissy and Will agree to three weeks of abstinence so that when they say I do they will share heaven afterward. However, the wait, romantic as it seems to Lissy, proves torturous on Will who loves to make love with his beloved.

"So Caught Up to You" by Beverly Brandt. In Naples County, Florida Quinn is the wedding planner for the Celie-Cal marriage. Celie's sister Tasha, an investigative reporter, learns some interesting items about Quinn and the disappearance of two people five years ago. She decides to make inquiries into the man, but was not expecting to be attracted to him.

"The Wedding Party" by Whitney Lyles. In San Diego Meg is a bridesmaid at her friend's wedding, but her thoughts linger on another member of the procession, Mason, whom she dumped a year ago. After dating some, she knows she made a mistake, but how to rectify it remains the question. However, the cousin of the bride Bill has his own plan to win her heart.

These four lighthearted contemporary romantic romps contain a matrimonial thread, but the eight prime protagonists have different roles in the upcoming nuptials. Each story is fun as love as in the air or at least down the aisle.

This was awesome. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. For LDS Fiction this one has no corny themes. It made me laugh and made me cry. You will really love it and so will any reader of any age. Worth the wait to get the book.

David Grandstaff is my cousin, and I must say that this book is written so terrific even I didnt know some of these things. Definetly a must read for people intrested in true crime.

Absolutely brilliantly written story. I have recommended this book over and over again. I wish it wasn't out of print, because people I have talked to about it have found it hard to obtain. It not only chronicles an amazing story, but also shows the "underside" that exists in many of the larger, industrial towns in Iowa--something that most people don't know about and don't believe exists if they haven't spent a lot of time in the state. A real page turner, and while it's hard to sympathize with criminals, one has to have a grudging admiration for Grandstaff and Weir. Theft was their chosen profession and they were good at it.
