Great book.......2003-07-07
This book helped me out a lot. I play goalie and defense and this book has very helpful sections on both postitions. My firends and I brought this to our team practice and our coach read it and said that he will use all of the drills given to help us out. This is a very good buy and i reccomend it to every beginning and advanced player out there.

Great tool for novices.......1999-10-27
This book is an excellent tool for novices of the game. It gives chapters about the positions and techniques of the game and could be very helpul if you are learning lacrosse. It is also a resourceful tool as a coach (of kids under about 14) and gives pointers on all aspects of the game. If you have been playing lacrosse for a while you may want to look to another source for information about the game, although this book would be somewhat entertaining.
A comprehensive, but easy-to-understand guide to Lacrosse.......1997-06-16
I coach high school Lacrosse in Missouri, and have found this book a valuable tool in teaching Lacrosse to my players and their parents. I also loan this book out to other coaches and assistant coaches. The book is very comprehensive, but it is so easy to understand, that a total novice at Lacrosse is able to understand the game and even feel like an authority. It covers rules, history and strategy. In an area where Lacrosse is relatively new, this book is a god-send

What are their customers returns? Are there any returns?
For all of the changes in the financial industry, the one tenet that remains is the importance of separating the customer from his money, and that is what this book is all about.

mixed feelings.......2005-08-17
As a newbie skater, this book offers some good general info and advice as most instructional books do.
My main complaint is that the pictures are not descriptive enough to follow a sequence and, let's face it, it's tough to show movement in book form anyway. However, the other issue is that the text is hard to follow as well, if you are trying to learn about a new move. Naturally the text and the pictures make more sense when you already know the move and want to improve on it.
So, depending on your ice-skating skill level, your ability to decifer instructions and your imagination, you might say this book is skating on thin ice.
This was one of the better skating books..........2004-01-18
This book has wonderful descriptions about just about everything in skating, except for take off technique. I dont understand why the author goes into extreme detail explaining how to do a three turn before a flip, but barley mentions how to take off into the actual jump.(This has been the case with just about every skating book I have read) Also the pictures are in black and white. The book has some very helpful tips and I think it is worth reading I just wish he would explain take off in a lot more detail.
"Excellent Instruction".......2002-06-03
This book is excellent for both beginners learning basic figure skating techniques and more advanced skaters who want to improve their overall ability on the ice. It includes helpful advice on improving your technical ability and provides possible mistakes that may slow your progress, so you can treat this book as a sort of "coach". It also includes pictoral descriptions for executing many of the moves, which I found very helpful. However, one downside is that this book was written in 1988 so it is a little old fashioned (there's mention of compulsory figures, which have since been eliminated from competition). However, it still contains all you need to know to improve your skating and I would highly recommend this book as one of the best I have read for skating instruction for both beginners and advanced skaters alike.
If you're a skater this is for you!.......2002-04-09
This book is THE BEST! it's got everything you need to know about the jumps spins and techniques of this sport! READ IT AND YOU'LL WANT TO KEEP IT WITHIN REACH FOREVER (if you're a skater) haha no really, it's great! BUY IT!
A life-long manual freestyle skate.......1998-08-03
This book by Misha gives the very comprehensive description to the basic spins and back spins, jumps from single rotation to multi rotational, and of course the fundamentals of skating, ie edges and stroking. The wonderful thing about this book is that Misha provided the possible faults to the failure of execution of a particular move. So one may treat this book as a 'coach'. I personally liked the illustration of the sketches of the tracing on ice and the precision that is shown by Brian Boitano featured for the jumps and spins. You get to watch a few frames of a quadruple toe loop too A must buy for any freestyle skater in advance technique. Truly a treasure of a life-time.

I bought this book thinking it was written for the investor looking for solid information for selection, ratings and in depth profiles of rated firms. Not true.

The Homebrewing Cream of the Crop.......2000-03-30
Homebrewing is a hobby that is slowly gaining in popularity around the country. This book details the beer recipes that have been selected as the best in their respective classes. The author compiled these recipes by selecting only first, second, and third place winners from the hundreds of homebrewing contests that have been held across the country.
I have been involved in hombrewing for about five years now. It is an interesting, but unpredictable hobby. No matter what you do, no matter how careful you are, no matter how precise you try to be, you still do not really know what your homemade beer will taste like until the batch is completely aged and ready to drink.
Homebrewers typically rely on books to help them in their quest for new and interesting beer recipes. This text assembles the award- winning recipes into one book, organized by style of beer, with a short description of each style at the beginning of each section.
The recipes present a well- detailed listing of the ingredients, but there are some inconsistencies among them. For one thing, some of the recipes do not include a list of instructions for making the beer. I don't know if this is because they were simply overlooked by the author, or because the owner of the recipe didn't want anyone to know the process. Whatever the reason, it does cause a little frustration for the reader. You could stumble across a really good recipe, but you won't know exactly how to prepare it. You could give it your best shot, but as mentioned before, homebrewing is a very delicate craft that can result in unwanted results if the original recipe is not followed with precision.
This book will provide you with a pretty good reference tool for preparing your next batch of homemade brew. There isn't much here, as far as reading material goes. The primary focus is on the recipes. Browse through the entire book before you make your decision on what to make. You will then be on your way to a delicious batch of homemade malt beverage. Cheers!

Perfect swimming techniques.......2000-03-30
This book provides a wealth of technique information & helped me to progress from being a very average swimmer, having not set foot in a pool for ten years, to having the confidence to compete in a national carnival within just six months. This book inspires confidence and provides simple to follow techniques that really do work and will give you a stylish stroke and kick for life. I couldn't recommend this book more strongly, both to swimmers who are just starting out, as well as to older swimmers who are building up courage to reenter the swimming circuit.
The Book to Improve With.......1999-06-08
As a swimmer i know it is hard to find the right book to improve your stroke. This book did just that for me. This book has the right technics that exceptionaly improved my stroke. If you are looking to improve your stroke this is the book to read. There are many other books on the market that are also very good but, this book tops the charts. I recomend this book to swimmers of all ages thought it might be harder for younger children under 10 to comprehend with. And in conclusion i will say this book is the way to go when improving technics and getting out the quirks in your strokes.

A Great Book to Learn From.......2002-07-08
This book is truly a very good book for learning how to play the wonderful game of hockey both at the beginner level and advanced level. At the beginner level it shows and tell you how to skate, stop turn, foward and backward crossovers. It also has rules of the game which are especially helpful for the beginner level. It has drills that one should perform to get better. For the intermediate through advanced level it has even more drills and techniques that even the beginners should get to know. It shows how to shoot the puck defensive, offensive and even goalie tactics. It has a conditioning with nutrition chapter, pregame stretches and even the mental game. And finally at the end it even tells you how to build a rink and how to organize and coach a team. Even if you think you know everything about hockey I can almost guarantee you there is something in this 220 page hockey-training masterpiece. I've been playing for only two years and I have learned a ton from this book and you will most definitely too.
A comprehensive guide for new players.......2000-08-14
I've bought about 7 or 8 books on various aspects of hockey over the past few weeks, and each has taught me something, but I really needed one that could tell me *how the game is played* -- where I'm supposed to be and what I'm supposed to be doing in different situations. This book did just that by explaining the basics of offense and defense with both text and easy-to-follow diagrams. I have a good overall sense of the game now, as well as specific admonishments to keep in mind (like not to chase a puck carrier behind the goal, and not to follow crisscrossing forwards when backchecking). I plan to read this book again in a month (after I've played a few games on an organized team), and I fully expect to absorb even more.
Excellent for beginners learning the basics of ice hockey........1998-11-30
My team, the San Francisco Earthquakes, has several beginner players. Most of them had been to beginner hockey classes, but they still didn't know many of the basics. I set out to find a book that would provide these basic lessons and answer many of the new players' questions. I looked at several books, but this one had the best fit. It is written for beginners, but will also serve experienced players who need to review the basics. What to do, where to be, how to shoot, when to pass? These questions and many more are all answered clearly and simply. This is a book for beginners. Intermediate and advanced players may be looking for more insight than this book provides. My teammates now know what to do most of the time. If they'd only skate a little harder...
