The first time I tried a recipe out of this book, it was way too icy. The next time, I took the time to read the intro and all the technical information and the next batch of ice cream was way better. They tell you ways to make your ice cream more or less rich. I have only tried about 4 of the recipes but first time was the only time I was disappointed.

While I'm not the best cook in the world, even these recipes have turned out well for me. I love this book and now I'm hooked on trying out new flavours. They are easy to follow and definately great tasting and creamy. I love the Oreo Mint especially. When Summer rolls around here, I can't wait to try the sorbets. This is definately one of the best dessert books I've bought and you don't ever need to get bored with options when there is more than 90 recipes to try. Go get this and have fun in the kitchen. It's great.

Very Soothing Voice and Music.......2007-06-11

I would have to disagree with Karen K who said the voice and music were irratating. I found the narrators' voice to be extremely soothing and the music to be beneficial and relaxing. In fact, for all the hypnosis tapes I've ever used, this is by far the most relaxing. I'm able to go into an extremely deep trance and always come out with the suggestion at the end (that's how I know I didn't just fall asleep). I only gave it 4 stars so far, but will update it in a couple of weeks when I see how well it works. I've been using it twice a day for two days, today is the third, and haven't seen any changes in my appetite or eating yet. It says to use it for 21 days. I don't know if that means you'll only see significant results after 21 days, or what, but I'll keep this review updated to let you know if I've lost any weight. If not, then at least I have had some incredibly relaxing sessions while I'm listening to the tape.

Day Five: I found when I went to the market I chose only healthy foods and stayed away from the junk food without even thinking about it. I checked the fat content on all food even if it said "light" or "low fat." When I saw chocolate and thought I'd like some it was immediately followed up with the thought that I didn't want to buy it. The hardest part is getting out of the store without the junk in the cart. At home, I've noticed I have not wanted to eat between meals.

After having so much success with Trevor's cd "Your Power Within" I had to try "Relax Your Way to Thin." I've lost 17 pounds so far and it is fantastic! I've never wanted to say I'm on a "diet" and I didn't really want to change my eating habits. But, after listening to the cd, my whole attitude about food and healty eating habits started changing. It made me realize that I wasn't denying myself anything by eating healthier, I was actually giving myself more. The weight started coming off, I'm feeling great and I'm sleeping soundly. Awesome CD, I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to loose weight.

This didnt work for me. Maybe because everytime I turned it on I fell asleep. Good way to fall asleep if you are having trouble. Bad way to lose weight.

I had gone to a Hypnotherapist before to lose weight and did not have much luck. However, I decided to try Trevor's method...and it works!! My eating habits changed dramatically after only listening to the cd twice. It is the most relaxing experience I have ever had. This cd allows you to fall asleep, so I listen to it while I am going to bed. It says that even if you do fall asleep your sibconcious will receive the messages that Trevor sends, without a doubt, it does! I am really amazed by this cd! I am getting ready to order his cd's for exercise and to quit smoking.

This is an amazing CD with incredible results! I have always had weight problems, tried all the fad diets and always gained the weight back. WOW! The best ice cream ever!.......2007-10-08

I'm an ice cream fanatic, but my ice cream maker was buried in the basement, because I was never able to make ice cream that was better than store-bought. When I received this book as a gift, I dug the ice cream maker out to try again. I'm glad I did, because every recipe I've tried has been superb - rich, creamy, full of flavor - and far better than anything produced commercially. What a difference good recipes make!

The custard-based ice creams are my favorites (the Vanilla Malt is out of this world - try it with crushed Heath Bars added), but the Philadelphia style Peach was also excellent. It was far fruitier than what I'm used to, as the author said it would be, and it was delicious. I have a Cuisinart ICE-20 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, and Sorbet Maker, White, and the recipes make just the right amount for this machine.

If you take a few minutes to read the sections on techique, and follow the instructions, including multiple bowls, strainers, and ice baths, you'll turn out ice cream that will blow you away.

I have way too many cookbooks and I can honestly say this is one of my favourites. David's style is easy and enjoyable, the recipes do what they are supposed to do and they taste fantastic. The best part of this book is that both volumetric and weight measurements are included, something which many supposedly great cookbooks by apparent expert chefs do not - something which continues to amaze me. I have one minor complaint - the basic custard method requires too many bowls which makes for too much washing up! However, I can cope with this, because this method has created the smoothest, creamiest, most ice-crystal-free home icecream I have ever had! Other methods I have tried just don't stack up.

Pure and (Mostly) Simple.......2007-09-11

I rec'd. a gift cert. to Amazon w/ a hint to use it for an ice cream book; I had this genre on my list, but no particular book, so I did some research, then read a review of this one somewhere and decided it had to be MY ice cream book. I am very happy with my choice: everything I have made has been divine! I even made ice cream sandwiches with plum ice cream, something I would not have considered in the past. The style is as refreshing as the recipes. I also appreciate that David has cut down somewhat on egg yolks and cream. I started making my own ice cream and frozen yogurt to avoid high fructose corn syrup: I was shocked to find it in my favorite frozen yogurt. (It's no longer possible to find unadulterated corn syrup, even, so I have substituted rice syrup.) I made the Watermelon Sorbetto yesterday and it was fabulous! I live in California where friends often have excesses of homegrown fruit. This book has given me more than one option in nearly every case.This a great book that covers all information for making ice cream + in a small, counter-top ice cream maker, as well as toppings and other goodies. It also includes wonderful hints for embellishing your creations.

The best ice cream recipe book!.......2007-09-10

My kids bought me an ice cream maker attachment for my Kitchen Aide mixer for Mother's Day so I decided to buy a variety of recipe books, as I've never made ice cream before.

I bought this one, the Ben & Jerry book (also good), the idiots guide to homemade ice cream, and a few others that I picked up used.

Perfect scoop is our favorite! Everything we've made has been exceptional.

First off was the Chocolate Ice Cream which was my first attempt at a custard ice cream and the best we've ever had. Next we made the Rice Gelato (with Tangerine rind instead of Orange because that was all I had) which was very good also...sort of like a citrus scented frozen rice pudding.

Last weekend we made the Mango sorbet which was the best sorbet I've ever had, and it was so easy to make. Next up will the Banana Blueberry sorbet. It's a great book and if you're going to get an ice cream maker - buy this too! :-)

I'm currently staring at an intensely-delicious-looking picture of the Vegan Blueberry Vice Cream in an article written about this book from a copy of Healthy Times magazine. I had to know more about it.

I came here and found the book and customer reviews. I must say that I'm glad someone took the time to create a frozen dessert that I can eat with my dairy allergies that doesn't taste like chalk after 3 bites (rice cream), or disrupt my thyroid (soy cream). One can only eat so much sorbet trying to achieve dessert satisfaction!

I plan on ordering this book today, as well as laying in a supply of cashews.

This is the best ice cream I have ever had, bar none. The cashew milk makes for such a rich, creamy base that every recipe has been delicious. Plus, the recipes are straightforward enough to encourage a little experimentation. I will never buy Soy Delicious or Ben & Jerry's again!!!

I just received the book and tried the chocolate vice cream recipe and it was amazing. Definitely the best I ever had. The commercial chocolate ice creams in the store are very bland compared to this recipe. It's a great recipe that non-vegans would love. My only issue with the book is that it doesn't provide any nutritional data, so it takes some work to calculate an appropriate serving size. The base of most recipes consists of 1-2 cups of raw cashews, 1 cup of maple syrup and a cup of water. The chocolate was great, but by my calculations it had TWICE AS MANY CALORIES AS BEN AND JERRY'S AND 25% MORE FAT. Maybe that was the reason the nutritional info wasn't included.

As vegan/raw foodists we have given up ice cream. Soy-based products purchased in the store are an acceptable substitute, or at least they were until we bought this book. Have tried the peanut butter - yummy, but clearly the rest will be delicious as well. Never realized what you could make a creamy frozen treat out of until I saw this book. Vegans and non-vegans alike will love these recipes.

The use of raw cashew milk in almost every recipe seems limiting. However, I've subsitiuted with other milks such as soy and almond.

I couldn't put this book down. Each story had me wondering what the next story was about. The writers did a great job at making the stories somewhat similar, but with different writing styles. It's funny how each story left me hanging. I hope there is a Cream 2.

Okay, I am going to start off by saying all 3 stories were very well written and had me wanting more. All of the stories were tied into relationships and friendships. I don't know if the authors met to leave you hanging or plan on finishing the stories in seperate books. They all were so good I would like to read each story in its entirety. Come on Ladies, get to writting!!!

The Last Run- Bruh and Zion were met to be. Although she was Tomika's friend it was evident that Bruh and Zion had better chemistry. I am just glad she came thru when she did or her man would have had it coming to him...I am curious to know what will happen next. Tu-Shonda you better not leave me in suspence too long!!!

Fair Exchange, No Robberies- Lovi was a real down A*S chick. She really had her brothers (Dough) back and was down for whatever. Dough knew that his friend Nicky was a good guy and would be good to his sister, that is why it wasn't no thing for them to hook up. Things were really looking up for all 3 of them after Dough spent some time in jail and then the altimate happened. It was messed up how things turned out. What will Lovi do now????

Rollin' Dice- Wassaun, Wassaun, Wassuan...what was he thinking doing his girl like that...over a dice game???? All I have to say was she was a heck of a woman to do that for her "so called" man but what did he expect after it was all said and done. The relationship would NEVER be the same after that. He should have handled this situation differently. Now he wants revenge...LOL!!!

I really do like this book--I see all sides of the reviews (mostly). It's not sophisticated, or an "ice cream bible," but I've made a great majority of these recipes and have found I like them all! The one I consistently use as a jumping off point for many creative endeavors, is the "lower fat vanilla" with the sweetened condensed milk. Delicious!!!

Good Recipes for Ice Cream.......2007-07-15

This book is very thorough, well-organized, and easy to use. I like the diversity of recipes, although I find that the ones that came in the little brochure with my ice cream maker are the ones I use more often. (Because I think they are even easier.) I am glad I bought the book and get a lot of pleasure from its recipes.

Piss and moan.......2007-04-07

One half of the reviews whine about it not giving enough information rather than discuss it's merits for its target audience. So the complaints are not about the end products (which are marvelous), but making a bad decision. The blame one's own mistakes on the book approach. In the final analysis, the recipes are straight forward, interesting, and simple to produce.

The other half complain about the fact that there are many flavors a family would never create. True, but the title says 500 recipes -- what do you expect? 500 variations on vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate? With 500 recipes available, expect the mundane and the unusual. If your only concern is making something for the grandkids or the team, stick with the book that came with your maker. That being said, the final products are creative and generally delicious, depending of course on personal tastes.

Now here's a BOOK! Great and unusual recipes. Many very easy, a few more complicated, but, hey, Ice Cream is serious business! Best book I have seen on the subject.

Must cook before making ice cream.......2006-11-24

I read the reviews and many people complained about the recipes having eggs in them. I thought that I could just omit the eggs and still have good ice cream. Well, I have owned the book for over a year and have yet to make a single batch of ice cream. All ice cream recipes must be cooked in advanced and then cooled. Probably 95% of them have eggs in them. While the recipes may be delicious (I don't know), it is far too much effort for me. I exclusively use the manual that I got with my ice cream maker and have played around with that instead. The author has some great ideas for unique types of ice cream and the sugar cone recipes are interesting as well, but I'll probably just donate this unused book to the library.

After spending 3 months in northern Italy and eating lots of gelato, we were anxious to buy a machine and a book of recipes to see if we could duplicate what we had eaten in Italy. The recipes are great and are easy to follow. I really like the history and the lay-out of the book...and the photos are excellent.

I love this book because it gives new creative recipes using an authentic base. The amount of sweetness called for is just enough, which is so much more pleasing to the palate than the overly sweetened recipes and store-bought frozen desserts of today. Gelato recipes also do not usually contain cream, obtaining their fat content from the egg yolk. One wouldn't know this from doing a simple search online, but here you have recipes that use real ingredients (milk, eggs, sugar) creating a rich satisying dessert head and shoulders above anything store-bought in both taste and nutrition. One reviewer wanted a basic chocolate gelato recipe; read her gelato primer artical on [...], it has a bunch of sample recipes including a basic chocolate gelato. To another reviewer who wanted a preview of this book before buying it, I would recommend also visiting this site and looking at her gelato primer, it is a rather long article that I think might satisfy that.

This is a great book! Although some of the recipies are a bit time-consuiming, all of them are easy to make and very tasty. It's a guaranteed hit with anyone who tastes it.

I LOVE this book. The recipes are simple and pure. I love that there is minimal sugar and NO corn syrup (which is a big ingredient in many American ice cream recipes). I'm a bit confused by someone saying that some of the ingredients were hard to find? I live in New Hampshire (NOT a big city) and I was able to find ingredients. Also, someone complained about the process of preparing a prickly pear. Since when is PEELING considered a complicated procedure. If you love to cook, love food, and love cooking with fresh ingredients, then you will definitely love this book.

I don't know about anyone else, but I NEVER buy a cookbook sight unseen, and as this publisher chooses to hide the recipes from the public, I can only assume she/he knows that they are not up to the competition here! With the plethora of cookbooks today, there are a lot of stinkers (c'mon, haven't you been burned too?)so if I can't check the book out, either from a library or online, I will not buy it (and I buy an average of 10 cookbooks a year)

I liked this book because it explained in detail, the proper use of ingredients. It gives easy to use formulas as well as giving explanations of why certain ingredients were used and substitutions of ingredients to get the results you desire. Some reviewers said the products were difficult to find, but with a simple web search, I found Glory Bees Food to be an excellent source. This book is a great start if you want to start a business. It helps you to understand the process of formulation. Thus far, this is my favorite book on the subject.

I really loved this book the only draw back is that most things you made have to go in the refrigerator,
I would really like someone to come out with receipes that are marketable and preserved with things like essential oils instead of just having to put everything in the frig.
#1 My kids might think it is food and try it.
#2 I don't think the next time you go to use it cold stuff on your face is not what you are after for your skin to asborb ingredients it needs to be warm not cold.
#3 It is alittle confusing. I couldn't figure out what they meant by a certain type of oil. This book is defintely not for the beginner and it is not easily readable for making receipes.
#4 It would have been better had they made the book like a receipe book with the spiral binding so when you are trying to make the receipe the book is easy to keep open.
I would like to see more research done on the foods on your skin verses the other products people are using. People need to see real results that have been tested and tried and then documented. Maybe a college could do this for someone??? I know that if people are not careful they could transfer bacteria to their skin if they left the product in the frig to long and keep using it. Yes I know just like food but if they aren't aware of the dangers it could have adverse side effects.

This is a great book...exactly what I was looking for. This jumpstarted me on my journey to creating some awesome recipes with the basic knowledge I needed to creating my own lotions, etc. I would recommend this to anyone who really wants to do things right, and healthy.

The book gives great information on the basic ingredients for lotions , but theres no "SIMPLE beginners recipe" in here, except perhaps at the end in the "Beauty Food" chapter.
many of the recipes make such a small amount of lotion that youre measuring infintessimal amounts of ingredients.
I would have preferred to see a couple of simpler recipes included, using perhaps one or two easily available oils rather than a half dozen oils that all have to be specially ordered.
At the end of the book I find myself thnking, hmmm. I'm so glad this isnt the first book I read on how to make lotions and etc.
My final take on it is , Great if youre looking for inspiration, not so great if you think this will bring you the easy starter recipes .

A little tale that mixes a message of how to sell and how to create a product worth buying. While touted as a tale about quality, as the author is world renowned for six sigma and quality leadership, I found myself really picking up on management principles around energizing and engaging your workforce. I also was paying attention to how to and how not to try to sell. At 109 short pages this book couldn't hurt anyone's ingestion on the content.
