I can't say enough good things about this book!.......2007-09-24
This book helped me get through a very difficult time a while back. In the time since, I have occasionally felt the anxiety levels creep back up, and I have come back to this book. It isn't one to be read one time, but is worth reading again and again.
It is easy to have this book recommended to you, or even to have someone give it to you and leave it sitting on your shelf. I did that when I first received it. Don't do that! Read it and see if you can grow and glean from it as so many of us have done. It can really help you move beyond worry to trust, and it builts more than just anxiety-free living. It helps accomplish the opposite -- contentment and acceptance of your lot. If you struggle with worry or discontentment, this is the first book I would recommend. I can't say that enough!
Excellent.......2007-09-11
I couldn't imagine Linda writing a book more helpful than Creative Counter part, but this is the proof (for me at least). This book is applicable to the Christian woman no matter what stage of life she is in. I have found it to be encouraging and helpful in my growing relationship with Jesus. Thanks again Linda.
A great book for every woman........2007-09-06
My sister-in-law gave me this book. It's the best gift I've ever been given. I've bought several copies to give to women in my family and friends. The book addresses what peace we can have when we hand our concerns to God and learn to always be content. I wish I'd read this when I was young. It's a book to read several times as a great reminder to hand it all over to God.
Life Changing .......2007-07-14
I am an avid reader and rate this as one of the best books I've read in a long time. It is well written with inspiring stories from Eastern Europe to add illustrate the point of each chapter. More than just a good writer, Linda brings out the major obstacles to spiritual growth and what to do about each one. Since reading the book a few months ago I have seen changes in my life.
Good study........2007-07-12
This book was a good book, helpful. The title was definitely the subject matter, and it's one that is very necessary in our society today. Repetitive in a couple of chapters, but overall I recommend it.

Book Description
Milton H. Erikson has been called the most influential hypnotherapist of our time. Closely related to his therapy was his use of "teaching tales." Calling upon shock, surprise, confusionwith generous use of questions, puns, and playful humorhe seeded suggestions indirectly and positively with these tales, here gathered together by Dr. Rosen.
Customer Reviews:
Counseling Through the Mind's Eye.......2007-10-09
A unique approach to psychiatry and psychotherapy - bends the walls of these disciplines to reveal an approach based on connecting with the unconscious of the analysand through a variety of techniques, such as conversational hypnosis, talk therapy, self-hypnosis and behavioral modification.
Highly recommended for all pychotherapists, hypnotists, counselors, and psychiatrists willing to expand their horizons and their vocational range.
Also, for the laymen, a fascinating look at a legend in action and at the art of talk therapy. One comes away from this book with a personal regard for Erickson - for his courage to not only push through his personal physical disabilities, but his unquenchable love of life. An uplifting, refreshing read.
Note, this book focuses not so much on hypnosis as on Erickson's broader approach to therapy, although hypnosis is certainly a component.
My highest recommendation.
Summary.......2007-08-15
Ground-breaking and revolutionary describe the work of Milton Erickson. With no direct method available to comprehend Erickson's complex therapy style Teaching Tales allows insight into his work. The understanding one develops from reading the highly engaging text comes about as each tale represents a piece of the puzzle of what it is to be a human learning our way through this world. Always focused on the fundamental experience of people, Erickson through the exposition of Sidney Rosen, elucidates his basic and profound vision of what makes all of us play, work, and especially learn to be better.
Entertaining and Useful.......2007-08-14
My Voice Will Go With You is subtitled The Teaching Tales of Milton H. Erickson. The tales do teach, inform, and show how you can change your behavior and those around you for the better. The book contains techniques to help raise children, break old habits, enable you to overcome your limitations, and are thoroughly enjoyable to read. Both individuals and professionals can benefit from reading and re-reading this book.
I bought the book to find out more about Erickson's therapeutic techniques and found that the techniques could be applied in my own life to change my behavior and influence the behavior of others around me.
Understanding Erickson's therapy.......2007-08-09
Excellent book for understanding Milton Erickson's methods of therapy and explaining his brilliance and why he has had such an impact on the psychotherapeutic community.
Good book, interesting reading.......2007-06-27
This is an excellent review of Milton Ericson's stories. The stories, on occasion seem weak and I'm not sure that Sidney had a lot to work with. I love the way that Sidney breaks each tale down, explains the meaning and points out the key phrases that Milton used.

Book Description
In his vast experience of doing psychic readings for thousands of clients,
Chris Dufresne recounts numerous examples of some of his most memorable and significant psychic consultations, along with many affidavits from past clients.
Chris and his mother, world-renowned psychic and spiritual teacher
Sylvia Browne, have always been firm believers that each individual comes into life with their own innate psychic ability; and this book provides you with instructions and exercises that you can use to further develop that unique ability, along with the responsibilities and ethics that should be followed in conjunction with this development.
Customer Reviews:
Good for Chris DeFresne Fans.......2007-10-06
I read his book, it is ok compared to Sylvia's book, it does give you some exercises to try but one must have another person around who believes to try his exercises. None of them can be done alone, so that part was a waster for me. While it is a good book, I don't get the spiritual fulfilling from his books that I get from reading most of sylvia browne's books.
sylvia and son.......2007-08-11
I don't know exactly what i was expecting to read in this book. I think i was just curious if he would sound much like his mom but i was surprised that i liked his upfront way of saying things and the "i don't care if you believe or not attitude" his mom has. The only thing that bothered me was how many times he mentions his mom in this book. This kid really loves his mommy but then i stopped and thought to myself "how many times do i talk about how wonderful my kids are" so maybe it's one of those cases where "it's ok for me to talk but if someone else does i think it's too repetitive" Besides that he was pretty good i guess i'm just predjudice because i like Sylvia's books. Chris kind of shows you the behind the scenes at their office and you even catch him talking about how much his mom gets upset (like a real person) when things go wrong with one of her days (like us all) and how like a mother lion she is about her KIDS. I just don't think it helps people like me who were looking for some help on how to develop our Psychic journey...it was more geared (only in certain sections ..small sections) towards people who have alread established that they are Psychic and want to branch out and do readings. Maybe i just interpeted the book wrong before i read it but i thought it was to help any one learn how to use their Psychic parts since they say we are all a bit Psychic. So if that is what your looking for ...this book is not for you.
a little boring.......2007-06-08
I read this book after finishing all of Sylvia Brownes books (the authors mother). It was boring compared to his mothers work.
My Psychic Journey:How to be Mor Psychic.......2007-05-14
Can't seem to put it down. He is a wonderful writer like his mother. God gave him three gifts: his mother, his writing, and spiritual knowledge. Great book to read.
Good read.......2007-04-12
This book tells about the author's life with Sylvia Browne and as a psychic himself. It shows how to develop your own psychic powers as well.

Ordained minister and "spiritual life counselor" Iyanla Vanzant doesn't know the exact moment when her soul opened up "and the spirit of the divine entered [her] body." But she will always remember the key insight that opened the door to her soul and simultaneously locked the door to her insanity: "If you know who walks beside you, you can never be afraid." This is the premise from which Vanzant has launched her enormously successful 40-day, spiritual self-help program. One Day My Soul Just Opened Up is designed as day-by-day journal/workbook to help readers believe in a divine presence while pondering daily spiritual lessons such as simplicity, peace, compassion, and nonjudgement.
The charismatic Vanzant (whom Oprah Winfrey considers to be one of the world's most admirable spiritual leaders) has a gift for humble, tell-it-like-it-is talk. She is also a wise and warm soul, eager to help others trust in love and find a relationship with God in order to get on with their lives. Readers especially like her daily list of inspirations titled "Let Me Remember." For example, under day 23, "When You Feel Angry," she uses the list to remind readers: "All things work to bring me healing"; "Forgiveness will provide relief and release"; and "Love will heal anything that is not an expression of love." --Gail Hudson

Perception Shift.......2007-09-24
My first thoughts were that this would be an inspiration book that would give me tidbit information that I could incorporate in my life here and there. Was I pleasantly surprised how Iyanla framed this helpful information. She allows you to look at her life and how she came to certain realizations. I prefer this method. It is always helpful to know that others are practicing what they preach. So I recommend you order this book with an open mind, really apply the principles to your daily life and your perception will change...because the energy you give off will be different. I will continue to re-read this book. I have bought this book for many friends because it is just that helpful! I see my actions and my perception of life differently and in a more spiritual sense.I say, all you need to come in with, is a desire to analyze yourself...forget about Iyanla as a great author,or tv personality. This book is about being a better you and purchasing this book is a great start!
Spiritual strength.......2007-07-12
For someone like me that has just searched a lifetime for some kind of meaning to our existance, this book is astounding. It is enlightening to discover that there are others that also become lost in the search in so that they stop searching---or so they think they do! Well worth the read.
Life changing.......2007-04-24
I read this book six years ago. It was my last year living in a hopeless marriage of my youth. Married at 19 to someone I barely knew, I was desperate, lost, and terribly afraid of what would happen if my family knew how miserable I was.
I read the book, and found the courage to leave, to live honestly, and to take on the threats of my soon to be ex-husband. My brother called me a disgrace, my ex-husband called me an unfit mother, and still I stood my ground. I made it through, and won in the courtroom battle. No longer would he dominate and terrorize me. Years later my brother apologized. Truth wins in the end. You just have to stand with your feet firmly planted in it.
One day I read this book.. and I know when my soul opened up. It was probably already there.. in me.. that fire, that courage. But when I read this book something changed, and it became action. My pride and fear no longer controlled me. Honestly about my feelings, honestly about my mistakes, and honestly about my dreams and future won over despair and weakness.
Maybe that sounds all flowery and poetic to you. Unbelievable because it's too easy to type... and hard to live. That's okay, I would have been skeptical too.
Buy the book, read it, and then see if you don't do something poetic because of it.
40 days of introspection.......2007-04-06
Good book to read and review your life with. All the lessons are indepth and stir-up feelings and introspection. I would have liked more biblical principles added. All her books are great, but they miss something with me.
I love Iyanla!.......2007-04-03
I haven't been disappointed yet. Her books always speak to my spirit and I enjoy reading them, they help you along your path of spiritual growth as well as personal growth. I usually read my books and pass them on..but not these!

Featuring more than 70 stories collected as part of "the Feathers project," Feathers Brush My Heart is a comforting book for women in times of loss. Each story, ranging in length from a couple of paragraphs to several pages, speaks of some sort of communication between mothers and daughters; what they have in common is that in each case, the mother has already passed away. In every other way, each story is entirely different.
The women who contributed stories are of all ages and income brackets. Some write movingly of abuse and dysfunction during their childhoods, while others pen with equal grace tales of close, loving relationships with their parents. Some gifts are as simple as finally learning to make their mom's beloved peanut butter fudge. More complex tales show repeated instances of protection and strongly felt presences in the midst of physical danger.
Dreams, impressions, and objects all figure strongly, and many women write of the particular significance of a special flower, ribbon, vase, or article of clothing. Author Sinclair Browning ties this collection together with gentle musings and recommended readings, along with a few short stories of her own. And while the details vary, the core message remains consistent: those who love us are never truly gone, and contact is always available if you remain open to the possibilities. --Jill Lightner

Most Wonder Book for Loss of Mother.......2007-09-10
A friend told me to read this book shortly after I lost my dear mother to breast cancer. It is full of inspiring, wonderful true stories of women who lost their mothers and had signs of them being near them after passing. The most wonderful thing happened to me after I finished this book a couple of weeks after my mothers funeral. I was going to church every morning at 7 a.m. for mass every day on my way to work after she died. One morning I was sitting in my usual pew in front of the Blessed Mother statue waiting for service to begin....I looked down as I knelt to pray at the pew seat in front of me and there was a feather! It was over 3 inches long - I looked everywhere else around me - no other feathers but the one right in front of me. I believe this was a sign from my mother. Please read this book - your mother is still with you...you will always be together.
HELPED SO MUCH AFTER DEATH OF MY MOTHER.......2007-06-02
I have given this book to about four of my friends whose mothers have died. It is a compilation of stories from women of all walks of life who have experienced some sort of "visit" or sign from their mothers after their mothers have passed on. It is so interesting and so comforting. It expresses what many of my friends have experienced but hadn't been talking about. Are these visits coincidences or are we living in a dream here and the world after this is the real world? It gave me great comfort and hope when my mom died, and I continue to hear from her in so many ways.. strange bird visits.. dog visits, dreams.. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who has lost a mother, whether they were on good terms or bad. I will continue to order this book and share it with my friends. Thanks for reading!
Feathers Brush My Heart.......2007-03-09
A very intersting book relating experiences women have had after the death of their mother.
Slow Read.......2007-01-14
This isn't a book you should buy if you just want to get from beginning to end in a hurry .. its a book you read a story or two and then set aside while you digest - or dry your tears .. bought one for each of my sisters as well - we lost our Mom this year and this book touched my heart
The Cardinal.......2007-01-08
I just finished reading this book and sat wondering how my mother would contact me. I love feeding the birds and began to wonder what kind of bird my mother would be if she choose to visit. A cardinal, so beautiful and bright, that's what she'd be. I'd made up my mind.
I put the book down, walked to the kitchen and stood in shock. There sat a cardinal in the lilac bush, just several feet away. I'll never forget that day.
My mother passed away 25 years ago and this was the first time I can say I truly felt her presence.
Sadly, I will now give this book to my niece. I just attended her mother's funeral. I don't want her to wait 25 years.

Book Description
Not since Betty Eadie’s Embraced by the Light has a personal account of a Near-Death Experience (NDE) been so utterly different from most others—or nearly as compelling.
In the thirty years since Raymond Moody’s Life After Life appeared, a familiar pattern of NDEs has emerged: suddenly floating over one’s own body, usually in a hospital setting, then a sudden hurtling through a tunnel of light toward a presence of love. Not so in Howard Storm’s case.
Storm, an avowed atheist, was awaiting emergency surgery when he realized that he was at death’s door. Storm found himself out of his own body, looking down on the hospital room scene below. Next, rather than going “toward the light,” he found himself being torturously dragged to excruciating realms of darkness and death, where he was physically assaulted by monstrous beings of evil. His description of his pure terror and torture is unnerving in its utter originality and convincing detail.
Finally, drawn away from death and transported to the realm of heaven, Storm met angelic beings as well as the God of Creation. In this fascinating account, Storm tells of his “life review,” his conversation with God, even answers to age-old questions such as why the Holocaust was allowed to take place. Storm was sent back to his body with a new knowledge of the purpose of life here on earth. This book is his message of hope.
"This is a book you devour from cover to cover, and pass on to others. This is a book you will quote in your daily conversation. Storm was meant to write it and we were meant to read it."
-From the foreward by Anne Rice
As I lay on the ground, my tormentors swarming around me, a voice emerged from my chest. It sounded like my voice, but it wasn’t a thought of mine. I didn’t say it. The voice that sounded like my voice, but wasn’t, said, “Pray to God.” I remember thinking, “Why? What a stupid idea. That doesn’t work. What a cop-out . . .”
That voice said it again, “Pray to God!” It was more definite this time. I wasn’t sure what to do. Praying, for me as a child, had been something I had watched adults doing. It was something fancy and had to be done just so. I tried to remember prayers from my childhood experiences in Sunday school. Prayer was something you memorized. What could I remember from so long ago? Tentatively, I murmured a line, which was a jumble from the Twenty-third Psalm, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the Lord’s Prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and “God Bless America,” and whatever other churchly sounding phrases came to mind.
“Yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. For purple mountain majesty, mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. Deliver us from evil. One nation under God. God Bless America.”
To my amazement, the cruel, merciless beings tearing the life out of me were incited to rage by my ragged prayer. It was as if I were throwing boiling oil on them. They screamed at me, “There is no God! Who do you think you’re talking to? Nobody can hear you! Now we are really going to hurt you.” They spoke in the most obscene language, worse than any blasphemy said on earth. But at the same time, they were backing away.
—From My Descent into Death

My Descent Into Death:A Second Chance at Life.......2007-09-05
There isn't a person walking the earth who would not benefit from reading this book. I had seen Mr Storm on TV once or twice, back in the 90's, and was quite impressed. I wondered if he'd ever write a book about his experiences. I recently found he had, bought the book, and devoured it. It hit me like a locomotive. Don't hesitate, don't think twice, BUY this book. You will never forget it and you'll come back to it time and again in the future, I promise.
Q: What is the best religion?.......2007-08-28
A: The one that brings you closest to God!
I had first heard of Howard Storm back in 2005 during an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. Immediately I could tell of this man's sincerity from his deeply profound near death experience. This was truly the first NDE that, after listening to, had touched me so much that it caused another spiritual awakening in my life. His account of hearing voices telling him (by name!) to follow them down a corridor of darkness were more frightening than anything Hollywood could ever conjure up. These strange beings appeared, at first, to simply be in a hurry and behaved rudely and indifferent to Howard Storm. They urged him to move forward with them to an unknown destination of ever increasing darkness. As he continued on with them he became more aware of their malevolence which frightened him. These strange dark beings sensed his fear and they increased their behavior towards Howard. He finally stopped and said he would go no further. It was at this point that the real torment for Howard Storm began!
Can you imagine the horror he must have felt during all of this? Here was a self proclaimed atheist who was admittedly very selfish and used anger and rage to get what he wanted in his life. Now the sum total of his existence was living in a place of utter darkness being tormented by unknown beings and eaten alive! So much for being an atheist.
It was at this point Howard called out to God, a God he firmly didn't believe existed. As he called out to God these raging tormentors began leaving him alone but not without continuing their curses at him. In fact it enraged them even more. But as Howard kept calling on God finally he was all alone in this place of absolute darkness.
Out of this darkness he percieved a light coming towards him that finally engulfed him and picked him up. This light was the total antithesis of what he had previously experienced. Now he was being loved completely in an unconditional manner.
There's so much more to Howard Storm's experience. If you're even remotely interested in near death experiences then you absolutely MUST read this man's account. I would have given this 6 stars but they only allow 5! That's how much I loved reading this book. His story is one of total transformation.
In this hour of our planet's existence we need to be transformed as well. Read this book and you'll catch a glimpse of the ineffable love that emanates from God.
One of my favourite books ever.......2007-08-14
Howard Storm's book answers many questions in my mind about life, our purpose to live in this world, God, religion, and after life.
Although I am a Christian, I grew up in a Muslim countries and have many very nice Muslim friends that I love very much. I just cannot believe they will all go to hell just because they don't believe in Jesus.
Howard Storm explains clearly what God really wants from us, which is to love one another just the way He loves us. What a simple message, yet very true.
This book is the second most important book for me after the new testament.
Disappointing & Preachy.......2007-08-01
I was really looking forward to reading this book and was impressed with the first few chapters. However, Storm quickly got too preachy for my taste, and I actually found it quite repellent. The book started reading like a run-of-the-mill Christian sermon that went on and on. I had expected more. I would recommend Universe of Worlds by Robert Grant. Grant's book and workshop are where I had heard about the Storm book, which sadly turned out to be very disappointing. There is also very little on Hell in this book, though my impression had been that there was a lot more. That part of the book, though small, was interesting and well-written.
very nice.......2007-06-26
Very nice testimony. As howard Strom went from being an atheist, and now is "all about evangelism".
he says some things that don't fit mainstream theology.
1. he says he saw life on other planets.
2. "The one that brings you closer to God" is just a common sense straight foward answer. We know that Jesus is the way, but whether you be religious or not, if you have not the bread of life, you have not life at all.
3. He uses the term "spiritual evolution" Although this makes since to many well scientifically educated people, to the average fundamentalist it wreaks of heresy.
A good testimony to those who can accept it, but very controversial.

Book Description
This is the story of LSD told by a concerned yet hopeful father, organic chemist Albert Hofmann. He traces LSD's path from a promising psychiatric research medicine to a recreational drug sparking hysteria and prohibition.
We follow Dr. Hofmann's trek across Mexico to discover sacred plants related to LSD, and listen in as he corresponds with other notable figures about his remarkable discovery.
Underlying it all is Dr. Hofmann's powerful conclusion that mystical experience may be our planet's best hope for survival. Whether induced by LSD, meditation, or arising spontaneously, such experiences help us to comprehend "the wonder, the mystery of the divinein the microcosm of the atom, in the macrocosm of the spiral nebula, in the seeds of plants, in the body and soul of people."
More than sixty years after the birth of Albert Hofmann's problem child, his vision of its true potential is more relevant, and more needed, than ever.

The Ultimate Perscription.......2007-07-18
There are a few books in the world that are touchstones for our psyches. This is one of them. It should be read by all young people coming of age, regardless of their position on the use of mind altering substances. It should be re-read every 10 years or so as they mature and their world view evolves. For those experienced with exploring internal frontiers it should be checked in with every 10 years or so as well. In just 209 pages of straight forward text some of the fundamental first principles of reality, and our relationship to it, are spilled out onto us without the need for preaching, screeching, moralizing, or deciphering obscure philosophical and scientific texts.
It should be read by every political leader in the world, and you won't find too many people who'd disagree with that!
Who Better?.......2007-05-08
I first read this book when it was first published, maybe 25 years ago. The book still holds up well all these years later, as it is a calm, rational history from the Center of the Cyclone (if I might borrow the title from Dr. John Lilly). Clearly, Dr. Hoffman was no stranger to realms of what many these days call entheogens, often experimenting himself with other "new" substances he discovered in other organic plants that found their way to him as a result of his monumental inadvertant destiny in "discovering" LSD. While some of the other substances he writes on were very new at the time, and therefore might read a little dated, on the whole, there is no one better qualified or in a better position to tackle such a significant topic.
problem children can do great things.......2007-05-05
an elegant and substantive discourse on the curious ways in which science has coalesced with spirituality through the last several decades. This man's mind is truly unique and his monumental discoveries, combined with his spectacular longevity and health, command respect.
Publish a great book and give all the proceeds to a worthwhile cause: you cannot go wrong here.

All of our lives have been changed by Hofmann's discovery, regarless of whether one consumes contolled substances or not........2006-07-08
All of our lives have been changed by the inquisitive nature of Albert Hofmann. The chemical that called him back was the twenty-fifth derivative of lysergic acid diethylamide, better known as LSD-25, or simply, LSD.
The modern age of psychiatric medications is a direct off shoot of LSD experimentation. Computer technology, particularly personal computers and `shareware', have strong roots in LSD use. LSD: My Problem Child is Albert Hofmann's own story. Using a small, but known amount, on April 19, 1943 Albert Hofmann became the first person to deliberately ingest LSD. Soon other chemists and members of the Sandoz executive staff "experimented" with Hofmann's highly unusual chemical. They realized that LSD-25 had enormous potential.
Hofmann's work with LSD brought him into the search for the active constituents of "Mexican Magic Mushrooms". These almost lost shamanistic tools made their way to Hofmann's laboratory due to their similar effects to LSD. Hofmann was able to synthesize the active components and named them psilocybin and psilocin. A large portion of LSD: My Problem Child is devoted to Hofmann's communication with authors, philosophers, and major contemporary icons (such as Timothy Leary, who Hofmann liked personally but believed was short sighted about the dangers he faced personally and the advocating of hallucinogen consumption by American youth). LSD: My Problem Child is a quick, entertaining read.

Book Description
For years Howard Storm lived as a successful art professor and painter. Suddenly he was in excruciating pain and awaiting surgery in a hospital, realizing that death was a real possibility. As an atheist, he was convinced this would be the end. Instead, he found himself out of his body, staring back at his physical form. Drawn into fearsome realms of darkness and death, he experienced the terrible consequences of a life of selfish materialism. He also traveled to regions of light, where he conversed with angels. But the Lord of Light sent him back with a message of love. This is the story of a near-death, recovery, and transformation of lessons from spiritual beings about the future, the meaning of life, life after death, the role of angels, and much more. Includes eight pages of illustrations.

Descent into?.......2005-05-23
I first heard Howard Storm's amazing story on Coast-to-Coast AM (http://www.coasttocoastam.com), with Art Bell...so I purchased the book - big mistake. I had expected that the story of his amazing journey would be more eliborated upon, instead, after being drawn into the book I read "I haven't described everything that happened. There are things that I don't care to remember.". This was a total let down. As I said I expected to read about the entire journey into death. Instead the book went on and on about how Love = God. Everyone has their own beliefs and everyone has their own experiences. I don't disbelieve Howard's personal journey, however I don't think that everyone has to become part of a catholic religion or even believe in something called "God" to be a good person or to carry out love and goodness in their own actions within the world. This book was a let down.
From Darkness to Light ... Good over Evil.......2005-02-28
From atheist to evangelist, Howard Storm's DESCENT takes the reader on a personal journey from the bowels of darkness to the heights of spiritual enlightenment & ultimately the victory of good over evil / light over darkness. The style of writing & wonderfully descriptive scenes allow for an easy read that moves the reader along on a pace that makes NOT turning the next page impossible. I applaud the author's courage to open his life & soul for all to examine & the ultimate triumph he experienced and now shares with others to show them the hope & light that is theirs to have as well. If you enjoyed Mr.Storm's journey of good over evil, light over darkness, I recommend MANHATTAN MESSIAH, another excellant read.
Skeptical.......2005-01-18
NOTE: I HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK YET
...but, I'm skeptical to it's significance because on the hardcover edition Anne Rice has written the Foreword. If this guy is supposed to be a pastor and a christian then why is he letting this "vampire author" tarnish his book and message!
Boo!
Validates the MESSAGE of All Other Near Death Experiences.......2004-08-08
I heard of this book only recently, and was glad to find it still in print. I read the whole thing in one day. I am not a strong Christian, but did know in advance that this book (particularly the second half) was written from a strongly Christian perspective. However, I did not find this a turn-off, and I can recommend this book to others of ANY religion, including atheists, as was Storm, before his experience.
The important message from this book was that God DOES exist, and that we ARE here for a REASON. That reason is to learn to LOVE one another, which was the message of Jesus, and the message of every major religion. Storm points out that the same truths are in every religion, and even that the idea of God has been given to beings on every planet where there is intelligent life. But it is up to each individual to accept or reject God, here, or on any other planet.
I did not find a lot of totally new ideas in this book, having read several other books on near death experiences. But I did really enjoy reading about Storm's experience, and seeing that the message of his book conforms closely to the message of others' near-death experiences, from multiple cultures. It is an interesting read, and I HIGHLY recommend it to EVERYONE.
Great, inspiring but left me with questions.......2004-06-04
Well, this book did affect me . As a lapsed Christian, it made me think about God and Jesus . It gave me a clearer picture of Jesus.I thought it gave a more personal clear picture of Jesus as a being, as he relates to people. The descriptions of Heaven were just... wow.
There are a few things that trouble me. He said he was dragged off to hell not by fallen angels commonly known as demons but by mortal people who died and rejected God. He said he was told by the angels that there are other intelligent beings in the universe, other worlds.
All that goes directly against Christian theology which leaves me very confused. My confusion probably stops me from being able to give a deeper more vivid review of the book.I have no doubt he is being sincere. His truthfulness shines from the pages, but I'm just having a hard time processing that.
If you are interested in NDE's get this book. Its different from a lot of ones out there on the same subject. Not many are told from a converted Christian point of view.

Just a book about the author's previous book.......2007-07-13
In my opinion this book does not offer much new spiritually after the author's first book "Embraced by the Light", but rather it gives some insight into her publishing the book.
Beyond the Bible.......2007-04-21
For the person/s worried that the bible and Christianity are diminished in this book, its message goes well beyond the bible and religions. Love embraces all religions yet exceeds all of them in its magnificent majesty. That universality and common humanity are the very fabric of what Eadie is discussing. Namaste...
The Awakening Heart: My Continueing Journey to Love.......2007-03-03
I loved Betty Eadie's first book. It was excellent. But this book was uncomfortable for me as a Christian. It seemed she was getting into areas that were unbiblical. I know she is a Christian, but she is mixing new age with her Christianity. I feel that if you are a Christian, you may want to skip this book. It is not as good as her Embraced by the Light. I finally threw the book away when it conflicted SO MUCH with the Bible. I couldn't take any more. Book 1, Embraced by the Light is pretty good. Read and get the good and spit out the bones.
The Awakening Heart - Review by Trish New, author of The Thrill of Hope and South State Street Journal.......2006-12-22
The beginning of the book reiterates some of the content of Eadie's first book, "Embraced by The Light." She continues to discuss how her near death vision affected her life. "Often our dreams are full of symbolism, but they are our own symbols, some so uniquely our own that only the dreamer has the key to them," Eadie says. And as dreams are for the dreamer, visions are for the envisioned. She says it best herself, " All of my interests had changed, and I was painfully aware that my life before had been very shallow. I had a new interest now, an unquenchable thirst for greater spiritual knowledge, but I didn't know where to find it. Old friends stopped coming by; the things we had shared before--gossip sessions, parties, shopping, and, of course, the afternoon soaps--no longer held any interest for me. I had never felt more alone in my entire life." Eadie relates how before she had kept her room off limits to her children so that she could keep it clean and keep her treasures without fear of the children breaking them. The children would stand in the doorway gazing into the forbidden room. Now she invites the children in where the room is a family sanctuary. She said her ego had played a larger part in the way she was raising her children and she needed to undo the damage she had done. She did not know what to do with the knowledge she had been given and felt lost and alone. She painted the walls of the house bright colors. She lost her hearing in one ear and became depressed and experienced anxiety attacks and agoraphobia but eventually became interested in serving others and in researching herbs. She experienced visits of angels with lights and singing. She experienced incidents in which she was not kind to people and was puzzled since she thought she would not behave in such a way after her near-death experience. She heard voices telling her to pray and decided that it was for herself and perceived God as a father figure. She was separated from parents and spent her childhood in boarding schools and said she did not experience unconditional love. Eadie began to experience enhanced ability to read other people and describes it as cellular memory. She awakened to her Native American ancestry. She experienced praying what she calls the mother's prayer she had seen during her near death experience and described as beacons of light reaching into heaven. She experienced other times when family needs were radical and says that prayer is the greatest gift we have for any situation. She became angry with God when her father, husband and son were all afflicted at the same time as if God had been responsible. She attended a hypnotherapy session with a friend and decided it was her calling. She received certification and set up her own clinic and gave presentations about her near death experience. The most touching part of the book is the dream she had concerning her father's death. A person's consciousness that causes them to dream scenes of the future is indeed phenomenal. Eadie relates the details of how she wrote the first book Embraced by The Light and the phobias she had to overcome in speaking and presenting her vision to audiences. She speaks often of the ripple effect which is the fact that everything we do has some effect on many people. She speaks about unconditional love in this way: "It doesn't matter whether we wear a cross around our necks or make the sign of the cross or light candles. Whatever manner in which we choose to communicate with God is not important; these are the mechanical touchstones that we use in our faith... But what is more important than anything else, ever, is simply that we make that communication with God from the very depths of our heart and, when we share it with another person, that we do so with the purity of spirit of unconditional love." She stresses the importance of being non-judgmental, no matter how diverse a person may seem. "We may see people facing one challenge on top of another and wonder whether they can take one more thing," she states. "Their growth is enhanced by their willingness to take what appear to be negative events and turn them into something very positive. These individuals continue to grow and expand at a tremendous rate, unlike others whose lives just drift along. We can learn from them, and we can grow by sharing our love in support of them... Through my own journeys I have learned that it often seems easier not to move on; even the muck and mire in which we are stuck often seems less fearful and challenging than the unknown path ahead... I have learned always to look for the next door. ...There is no reason to want to stop developing spiritually, because the wonders through each door are more beautiful than the ones before. Our journeys are their own rewards."
Trish New, author of The Thrill of Hope and South State Street Journal.

I so loved Embraced by the light that I sought out other books by Betty J Eadie. This book gives the message of hope and love, but not like her first book. Still worth reading if you are a fan of Embraced.

Book Description
Reading Notes To Myself is one of those rare experiences that comes only once in a great while. The editor who discovered the book said, "When I first read Prather's manuscript it was late at night and I was tired, but by the time I finished it, I felt rested and alive. Since then I've reread it many times and it says even more to me now." The book serves as a beginning for the reader's exploration of his or her own life and as a treasury of thoughtful and insightful reminders.
Customer Reviews:
such a great book.......2007-08-30
Dahh. I love this book. I've read and re-read it and have loved it every time. I've even picked up a few extra copies at thrift store and such to pass out to friends.
One of my favorites.......2007-07-01
I recently read this book and am still reading it. I enjoy it because of its unique style and don't feel pressured to read the book a certain way, and because of the way it is formatted, one may skip around and read, re-read, bits and pieces. I've noticed that most of the negative comments of the book come from people who claim to have read the book in two hours, which I think is not enough time to appreciate what the author has to say. I think it's a book where you take your time, and get a chance to mull over the words.
Iron Fillings Arranged Like a Horseshoe.......2007-03-26
When Hugh Prather decided to write this book, he decided that instead of using tweezers to arrange hundred of Iron fillings into a beautiful shape, he used a magnet.
What I'm saying: This books is magnetic. It sucks you in and you learn. You emerge from it's depths with a pearl. A pearl that you can sell on land for 15 clamshells and each of you and 7 friends can take a pair of clamshell, attach one to another with string, and play the percussion portion of Beatles hits.
Get this book and read it cover to cover, front to back. In that order.
Wonderful, insightful book........2005-09-14
I received this book from a friend in 1990. The copyright in the book is 1970, and the cost was a mere $2. I read this book at a time in my life when things were as bad as I thought they could get. I underlined passages, wrote notes on pages, and each time I read it, I feel like I'm getting in touch with myself again.
It's an extremely good feeling when you can read your own thoughts and views on the world from someone else.. from someone you don't know. Everyone should read this book, and then pass it on to friends, or children.
An honest "know yourself" must read.......2005-09-01
I loved this book, it rang a bell on every aspect of my life. Honest, entertaining, inspiring and full of wisdom. It has become one of my favourite books.
