Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Following the acclaimed Sisters of the Sun trilogy comes the Children of the Sun, a trilogy about the sisters' first-born children. Here in its second installment, Keelia, Queen of the Anwyn, falls for her shape-shifting kidnapper, but still cannot deny the ever-looming Prophecy of the Firstborn: She will betray love in the name of victory.
Customer Reviews:
I just couldn't get into it.......2007-08-28
This is the story of Keelia, oldest daughter of Juliet and Ryn, (the second book in the Sisters of the Sun Trilogy.) And to my mind the most potentially interesting character in the Prophecy of the First Born. POF. starts out well, Keelia (great name) has been captured and imprisoned by a mysterious somone. A somone who is not only the sworn enemy of Keelia's people, but who also just happens to quite literally be the man of her dreams. Keelia and Joryn eventually come to an uneasy truce, and begin to work together to against the demonic evil which threatens all who oppose it with corruption or annihilation. all while growing to love one another and discovering the depth of The Red Queen's power. A greater destiny awaits then either can fathom.
Unfortunately the exicution falls far short of the promise. to put it bluntly I found Prince of Fire boring, and passionless, from a narrative stand point. There were interesting points throughout the story, but nothing had me rivited to the page. I coudn't muster much concern for the characters, or the plot. sadly I was glad to see the end of Prince of Fire.
4.5 stars.......2007-08-15
I am going to brief because I don't want to inadvertantly give away any story lines.
This was a wonderful tale. I am coming to greatly enjoy the romance fantasy/para genre precisely because of book like these. Queen Keelia and Jorwyn are thrown together due to a prophesy and quest, and they become mates along the way. The H/H really have great chemistry, and this book is my fave among the trilogy for this reason.
It is the 'along the way' that makes this such a good book. They travel together , learn to trust each other and love each other while defeating a deluded mage.
Good reading!
I would recommend reading them in order though.
Queen Keelia has a fire of her own........2007-07-06
The second book in the Prophesy of the Firstborn trilogy is my favorite by far. Queen Keelia and Prince Joryn's story is very imaginative and very well put together. I couldnt put it down. While I reccomend that you read the books in order this can be read alone. I finished all three books in a matter of days. I would love to see more of Queen Keelia and the Caradon and Anwyn people in future books. Queen Keelia is just learning what her and Joryn's people can do and be like in this book and I feel strongly that it is an unfinished tale. Hint Hint Ms Jones. I really enjoyed this book and feel anyone that is interested in paranormal romance would also.
good triology.......2007-06-12
easy read, not to stressful and has a very imaginative flavor. Great summer reading if you like books that include magic exct.
A Disappointment From Such a Brilliant Writer.......2007-06-10
Keelia, Queen of the Anwyn, has been kidnapped. When she finds the kidnapper to be none other than a Caradon, she cannot believe it. Not only is he a Caradon, but a shape-shifting mountain cat that has haunted her dreams in vivid sexual explicitly. He has taken her because he thinks she is the caster of spells on his people, but is she? What does he have planned for her?
PRINCE OF FIRE is by Linda Winstead Jones. This book started out with such promise, the hook in the beginning is one of the best this reviewer has read in a longtime, but it stops there. After reading the Sun Witch, Moon Witch and Star Witch, PRINCE OF FIRE disappointed this reader.
A passive voice and heavy handed use of `was' marred the enjoyment of PRINCE OF FIRE. By the end, this reviewer could have sworn a different author wrote it, the style of writing that different, that unpolished.
Keelia cannot understand why this man, this shifter, thinks she is the cause of his people's misery. They might be enemies, but she would never inflict that kind of horror on another. Even as she faces her captor, seeing him for the first time, she is stunned how much he looks like the lover from her dreams, yet there is no kindness in the way he treats her in real life.
When she tries to read his thought, it is like reading a blank piece of paper--nothing. Keelia has been told that would happen when she met her mate, but that cannot be, not a Caradon.
Will Keelia be able to convince this coldhearted man she is not the one he is looking for? Is he her mate? Who has been casting spells on his people and why?
With the fierce competition in the paranormal genre, there is no room for anything but the very best and PRINCE OF FIRE just cannot even compare. You might want to pass on this book.

Book Description
Many years have passed since Queen Thirrin and her allies defended the Icemark against a brutal invasion. But now General Bellorum is back, along with his bloodthirsty spawn, twin sons even more vicious than him. Thirrin and Oskan also have a family: two girls and three boys. But darkness lurks within the House of Lindenshield: Medea, the couple's cold-hearted, fifteen-year-old daughter, who's just coming into her magical powers, may be the downfall of the kingdom. It's up to her brother, Charlemagne, crippled by polio as a child, to return from exile and rescue the land he loves.
Customer Reviews:
Loved this book too...spoilers at end of Review!.......2007-06-03
First of all, I loved this book. I loved the first one too, but there's always something about the underdog, the "weakling" finding the strength he didn't even know he had, that appeals to me enormously. And however much I like Thirrin, a weakling she is not. She may have had the disadvantage as a nation fighting the Empire in the first novel, but she was nowhere remotely close to being weak.
I've grown especially fond of children's books lately, between Harry Potter, the Artemis Fowl Series, The SpiderWick Chronicles, the trilogy of The Golden Compass (can't remember the collection's name), Garth Nix's series about the days of the week, and a whole host of others, I troll the young adult shelves almost exclusively. Seeing as I am 21 years old, I get a few odd looks. :)
SPOILERS, for those who haven't read this, are below....WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!!!!!!
But was I the only one who read the whole book waiting impatiently for Madea to fry? And I freely admit that I felt no sympathy whatsoever when it finally happened. I was extremely satisfied when she finally realized just how much she had underestimated her father ("In your face, witch!" might have been going through my mind...haha!). And I completely appreciated the fact that he still didn't give her any mercy, for she deserved none.
Sharley's Blade.......2007-06-02
The youngest son of Queen Thirren and her husband, the warlock, Oskan, is named Charlemagne. He is called Sharley. Despite his warrior's name, Sharley was stricken with polio in his childhood and walks with a
limp. He is incapable of wielding the heavy weapons or of controlling the massive war horses of their frozen kingdom, Icemark. His hale and hearty twin brothers are fond of him but they are totally embroiled in training.
to be warriors. Of his two older sisters, Cressida loves him, but she is also busy training to fight. His other sister Medea, the one who has inherited magical powers from their father, is eaten up with jealousy because of the attention given to Charlemagne from his birth. The only person who is really helpful to Sharley is the old family tutor, who arrived from a hot kingdom in the south long ago - and stayed. When Icemark's defeated nemesis, Bellorum, regains strength, he and his two sons intend to crush Icemark forever. Sharley is sent with Maggie, his tutor, and many refugees on ships to live safely in the south until the war is over.
Greatly humiliated by his weaknesses, he is befriended by the sultan's son, Mekhmet, and is taught to fight in the lighter ways of desert warriors. With a wonderfully appealing protagonist, magical creatures, and one battle after another, this book will appeal to readers who loved the "Redwall" series when they were younger. With a complex, action-filled
plot, this hefty read is totally absorbing.
The Blade of Fire was AMAZING!!!!!.......2007-05-23
The Book The Blade of Fire is a wonderful book. I enjoyed the way the author described the characters so human like that you almost wanted to tell the character something bad is going to happen to you. I would give this book a five out of five. The main cahracter is Prince Charlemagne and his emotions make the book much more realistic. It gives the book more structure and you can almost imagine how you would feel in this situation.
I love this series!.......2007-05-15
This is a world I want to be in -- an amazing saga that pulls you in -- and once you're read it, it stays with you forever.

Gabriel Allon faces his most determined enemy-and greatest challenge-in the stunning novel from the world-class practitioner of spy fiction.
Download Description
"Few recent thriller writers have excited the kind of critical praise that Daniel Silva has, with his novels featuring art restorer and sometime spy Gabriel Allon. Now Allon is back in Venice, when a terrible explosion in Rome leads to a disturbing personal revelation: the existence of a dossier in the hands of terrorists that strips away his secrets, lays bare his history. Hastily recalled home to Israel, drawn once more into the heart of a service he had once forsaken, Gabriel Allon finds himself stalking an elusive master terrorist across a landscape drenched in generations of blood, along a trail that keeps turning in upon itself, until, finally, he can no longer be certain who is stalking whom. And when at last the inevitable showdown comes, it's not Gabriel alone who is threatened with destruction-for it is not his history alone that has been laid bare. A knife-edged thriller of astonishing intricacy and feeling, filled with exhilarating prose, this is Daniel Silva's finest novel yet."
Customer Reviews:
A strong novel.......2007-08-23
I highly recommend this book. If you are a fan of the assassination genre this is the novel for you. Author Daniel Silva reintroduces us to Gabriel Allon the Mossad's premier assassin. Silva again writes with a certain level of realism that is lacking in other novels of the same genre. Well worth ordering.
Why is Silva so good?.......2007-08-03
Most thrillers are shoddily written, characters are wooden and one-dimensional and the focus on action and violence. Then you have someone like Silva who slow things down without making things boring, develops a believable character over several books and invests his book with deep historical resonance
While Silva is now Le Carre, he is better than the Pattersons of the world who hog the best seller lists
Prince of Fire is in the same genre of his earlier books - a good read but not as good as his earlier ones

Great thriller!!.......2007-07-27
Having never read Daniel Silva, I'll admit to some initial trepidation: a middle-aged Israeli art restorer cast as the hero in a spy thriller? My worries could not have been more off the mark - Silva's Gabriel Allon is a remarkable character, combining the pragmatism and stealth of LeCarre's George Smiley with the bravado of Clancy's Jack Ryan.
Following a devastating terrorist attack in Rome, Allon is draw out of semi-retirement to track down the perpetrator, possibly the apocryphal son and grandson of Palestinian terrorists with whom both Allon and mentor Ari Shamron have a history. "Prince of Fire" is very loosely based on the history of Ali Hassan Salameh, Black Septembrist and architect of the slaughter at the Munich Olympics. What follows is a well-crafted and thoroughly researched tale of Israeli espionage, as well as a riveting, if brief, history of the Palestinian conflict. While the story centers on Allon's pursuit of the elusive Khaled al-Khalifa, the true villain in this story is Yasir Arafat, rightfully cast as the master terrorist with the blood of untold thousands of Jews and Palestinians on his hands. This is a dark tale with few winners and many losers, a story of pyrrhic victory of some justice but limited revenge.
While LeCarre's once fine writing has faded to the ramblings an apologist wallowing in his misguided views of the moral relativism of democracy, communism, and fascism, writers like Daniel Silva and Alan Furst continue to write spy stories with the passion that comes only with the clarity found in recognition of the existence of good and true evil. While fiction, this is as compelling a lesson in contemporary Middle east history as it is entertaining; an intelligent and highly recommended read.
One of Silva's Best.......2007-05-18
I've just read the entire Allon series except "The Messenger" which I just started. "Prince of Fire" is one of the best. The thing I love about this series is that it educates, or at least stimulates curiousity, in its historical and geographical backgrounds while taking you on an exciting ride with characters you care about. I'm not a history buff by any means (and couple of the books in the series do get a little bogged down) but they're all worth the read, especially this one.
full of fire.......2007-04-24
This is a carefully devised book you will find hard to put down. The writing is excellent; the plot meticulously thought out and executed.
There is plenty of action to keep the story moving along briskly, but there are also interesting ruminations on art and politics, especially on the Israel-Palestine problem.
However, there is one note that perplexes me. At the very beginning. Monsieur Laval's villa is rented. We can figure out who rented it, but what was the purpose? Also, there was a hundred euros to pay for broken wineglasses, but none were missing. What on earth is that all about? It may have just been a note to set the flavor of the book.
A minor problem that does not diminish from Silva's superb novel. We should be seeing more of Dina. I just hope Gabriel hasn't moved entirely offstage.

Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-25
Rohan and Sioned's son Pol is of the grown up variety now, and he gets to start doing the fantasy adventure thing himself.
Star scrolls, dragons, other and different opposing types of magic, the odd concerned parent, a girl or two are some of the things he has to deal with.
Good conclusion for the sunrunner series.......2006-08-22
Before you read this (vol 3), read "The Dragon Prince" and the "Star Scroll" also by Rawn.
Finally the politics are settled by confrontations, including battles between the Sunrunners and their ancient sorcerous enemies, the Stone-burners. This is a worthy finish for the trilogy, and if you liked the first two, you won't be disappointed.
I'd recommend stopping here and avoiding the "Dragon Token" trilogy which follows this one. That series takes place years later and focuses on different characters I liked less.
Sun Runner' Fire.......2006-03-04
I enjoyed this. I have like Melanie Rawn books. I would like to know what happen to The Captal' Tower.
Become A Sunrunner.......2003-08-20
This is one great book. It sparks an urge in you to become a great sunnrunner. This book is greatly written and is a great conclusion to the Dragon Prince series. It also features the maturation of the great Lord Andry.
Rawn's Best.......2002-07-08
I would have to say that this book is even better than The Star Scroll. First of all she labeled her chapters with dates which kept the order of things. Also the plot ran smoothly along with from the first page to the last. I have one thing to say to disagree with another person's idea of Rohan's character he is not "faultless". Uh he liked had a very hard life and he has many trips along the road of life along with that his son was not even from his own wife. So when you review a book read it please.

Book Description
The final volume of the Tielmaran Chronicles, in which a collision of magic, gods, and history build to a stunning, satisfying climaxIn her acclaimed debut novel, Wind from a Foreign Sky, Katya Reimann introduced us to the land of Tielmark where a prince sits on Tielmarks throne, imperiled by the relentless conspiracies of the neighboring Bissanty Empire. In A Tremor in the Bitter Earth, Gaultry Blas adventured into Bissanty, uncovering the depths of its evil, as well as the ancient strength of its claims on her homeland. Now, in Prince of Fire and Ashes, the conflict returns to Tielmark as Gaultry, along with the coven of witches sworn to protect the Princes crown, seeks once and forever to break those ancient claims.Gaultry thinks she knows her enemy, but another, older enemy has waited fifty yearsliving in secrecy and honing cruel intentsfor the alignment of the stars that will enable an ancient plot. Gaultry struggles to resolve Tielmarks internal conflicts even as she tries to understand her own place within that struggle. When a brutal endgame is played out, Gaultry and the coven must call upon their deepest powers.

Solid, fantastic, rich, and full--even for a new reader.......2002-07-22
This book kept me up into the wee hours before I had to admit defeat and turn out the light. The characters were engaging, and the world is vividly drawn. This is old-style fantasy in the sense that the author has created a world that I'd like to visit, and people that I'd like to know.
It's also old-style fantasy in the fact that Reimann's world is completely suffused with magic--every doorpost seems to have its own charm or fetish or burnt offering to the gods. But the gods and their influence on human affairs are not overdrawn. Their motives and the extent of their actual influence remain mysterious--in a good way.
An enjoyable read. I'm still thinking about the characters a couple of weeks after I put the book down--always a good sign.
fantastic fantasy.......2002-07-08
The Arleon Forest witch Gaultry Bas captures Tullier of the Bissanty Empire before he can assassinate Prince Benet of Tielmark. Gaultry returns to Tielmark accompanied by Tullier while praying to the Twin Goddesses that her country will finally thrive in peace and domestic tranquillity. However, she also believes that for this to happen, Prince Benet must become crowned king.
The Common Brood witch coven disagrees as they conclude that the time is right to begin the final phase of a deadly and ancient plot. Though she prefers otherwise, Gaultry knows she must fight for freedom for her people as the Bissanty Empire once again threatens the sovereignty of Tielmark. To succeed she must ally with an apparent enemy, The Common Brood.
PRINCE OF FIRE AND ASHES, the final chapter in Katya Reimann's epic fantasy Tielmaran Chronicles, is a tremendous tale. The novel closes the subplots left behind from the previous two tales (WIND FROM A FOREIGN SKY and A TREMOR IN THE BITTER EARTH) yet manages to keep the prime story line of this book interesting and moving, enabling this novel to be a stand alone tale too. That well executed exciting combo is what fans will marvel about as much as the maturing of Ms. Reimann into a monster force within the genre.

Reimann's Best Yet!.......2002-07-02
Have you read, and loved, Lois McMaster Bujold's Curse of Chalion, anything by Steven Brust, or some early Robin Hobb? Then read this book. Or, if you've read Reimann's first two Tielmaran novels, you won't need any convincing. This is easily the best of the three -- the only problem was how long it took to write it! Return readers will get some things they expect -- fast action, powerful magic, and a beautiful sense for wild, rugged terrain -- and some things they may not -- new, ah, developments between Gaultry and Martin, and some great new characters (the Climens family, Agrat and Elizabeth, were my favorites). And of course, this book ties up the other two to end the series (for the moment anyway). Good that Reimann resisted the temptation to milk these great settings and characters dry for a hundred books, but I still hope she'll come back to them. There's plenty of magic and adventure left in this vivid world.Maybe some more stories about Agrat and her children? We can only hope... anyway, great book!

Book Description
Friendly Fire investigates the intrigue and treachery between—and within—the nations that were ostensibly allies during the Second World War. It asserts that the Allied war effort was more concerned with the balance of power in the postwar world than with the defeat of Germany and Japan. These machinations allegedly prolonged the duration of the war by as much as two years. Based on extensive research, this study contains information obtained from key archives as well as the testimonies of those individuals actively involved in the events. The result is a provocative re-evaluation of Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin, and the real agenda behind the formation of the postwar world—and the consequences for us all.

A valid point, but conspiracy idiocy soft on Hitler.......2007-09-28
The point of this book is true: World War II for Washington and London was a power struggle for influence in the world for their big business operators, not a crusade for freedom or a war against fascism. Neither Washington nor London favored freedom for the vast colonial empire Britain established or for the empires of their somtimes allies, the French, the Dutch, or the Belgians. Indeed, in the context of the war, both countries--or more accurately the governments big business interests controlled in them- worked to strengthen or weaken each other and their socalled allies such as France.
While the world needed a war against Fascism and the oppressed of Africa, Asia, and the Pacific islands needed a war for independence against the colonial empires of Britain, the US, France, Japan, Holland, Italy, and Belgium, but the Second World War as fought by Britain and the United States was not that war.
However, this book is only coincidentally a picture of that true nature of the Second World War. It is actually the product of conspiracy-oriented right-wing fantatics who are sympathetic to Fascism including Nazism who like to point to such disasters as the products of consipiracies or bad men, rather than the fundamental nature of the capitalist system that dominated and continues to dominate both countries. These conspiracies deflect the real blame from the real criminals onto individuals, or worse, into reactionary ideas like anti-Semitism,
The war was the inevitable product of capitalist competition for control and domination of markets and of colonies. From the end of the First World War until the early 1930s, both Britain and the United States prepared for war against each other. The emergence of a revitalized German imperialism and Japanese imperialism's rejection of its previous role as the junior partner of Britain in the East, forced these two rivals to band together both against these insurgent imperialists and against the movement for freedom and independence in the colonies and resistance among working people.
Carnage and Profits.......2006-07-14
I remember being taught about World War 2 at school. It went something along the lines of how there were these evil people called German Nazis who were trying to conquer the world, with their friends the Italians and the Japanese and they were defeated by the brave British with some help from the Americans, and a few Canadians.
This book, which looks very well researched to me, examines what really went on, and profiles some of the leaders and their motivations, including some facts that may not be widely known. For example, about how British covert agents rigged the American presidential elections to get Roosevelt re-elected, to engineer America joining the war. Or about Roosevelt's close working relationship with the Communist Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, including the financing and supplying of the Soviet regime with nuclear material, via his colleague and Soviet agent Harry Hopkins.
What emerges is that World War 2 was a massive victory for America, in that America's economy was far stronger at the end of the war than during the "Roosevelt Recession" before hostilities commenced. It was a massive failure for Poland, who refused to negotiate with Germany at the start of the war and consequently suffered a total Soviet take-over. It was also a defeat for Britain, in that the British Empire was broken up. But of course the big winner was Stalin and Communism, thanks to Roosevelt, who was keen to end Western European imperialism and unfair European trade practices, and who backed the Soviets to ensure that this occured.

Book Description
"The Chamber of Cheesecakes has been opened. Dieter's Beware!" reads the sinister warning in this hysterical parody of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series. In this farce all of your favorite Harry Potter characters, places, and past events have been twisted around with devilish wit. You'll follow the adventures of Harry Putter, Ron Cheesley, and Hermione Stranger in their sixth year at school, seventh if you count preschool. While some of the encounters are spoofs reminiscent of the original tales, others are new, keeping the storyline fresh and unpredictable. If you like the original Harry Potter series, you'll love this crazy parody.
This book is suitable for children of all ages.

We bought this a while ago and we loved it. Knowing the original "Potter" stories made it even better. My two older daughters thought it was hilarious, and my youngest just started reading it as well. We only wish the series was longer!

Book Description
No one kept the name of Grey Owl alive in the 1960's and 1970's more than his daughter Dawn. All her adult life she defended her father as did her mother, Anahareo, from those who underscored his contribution to the cause of conservation. She knew how timely his central message was: "You belong to Nature, not it to you".
In his book her husband Bob Richardson sensitively recounts the years of their relationship: their first meeting, marriage, and life together. In many ways it reads like a modern version of "Pilgrims of the Wild", Grey Owl's own account of his life with Anahareo, the story of a growing relationship.
Bob describes Dawn's tremendous personal strength in the face of poor health. At the age of nine she became seriously diabetic. For the first time it tells of Dawn's discovery in 1976 of Leonard Scott-Brown, her father's half-brother, then living in Vancouver, who became a second father to her. It recounts interesting stories of Dawn's and Bob's search of the meaning of Grey Owl and Anahareo, through trips to places where they lived in northern Canada in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Dawn helped me enormously over a fifteen year period with the preparation of my biography of her father, "From the Land of Shadows" (1990). Unfortunately she did not live to see it in print, as she died six years before it appeared. I loved reading Bob's account as it brought her back to life for me, this warm, intelligent, fun-loving woman, who recognized the enormous contribution of both her father and mother to conservation, and wanted the world to know it as well.
