SWEET REVENGE (SISTERHOOD).......2007-07-19
I have enjoyed Sweet Revenge. These women and now men have a very special bond
and way to help each other. It was great reading and I could not put it down.
I want to read the next one
Loved it.......2007-07-12
I loved this book, and all the others in the Revenge of the Sisterhood series. I couldn't put them down!!!
Resurrection.......2007-05-24
Number Five of the Sisterhood Series delivers the sweet taste of revenge. "Sweet Revenge" by Fern Michaels keeps the reader come back for the next installment.
Isabelle Flanders' architectual career/life were destroyed when she was blamed for a drunk driving accident which took the lives of three people. Later she realized she was not driving the car and protested to no avail. She seeks out Nicky Quinn for help but the system doesn't work for her, hence her credentials are established for membership in the Sisterhood.
A fun read where nothing is simple but the almost happy endings, which are predictable.
Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps."
The Sisterhood is a GREAT series.......2007-05-13
I have so enjoyed the sisterhood, and the revenge that each sought. I agreed with their methods, and am looking forward to the last of the series. I wish I belonged in the "club"!
Sweet Revenge.......2007-05-07
I really enjoyed this novel. The whole 'sisterhood' series is great. It's good to see 'good' prevail, even if it is in a fantasy. And even if it takes 'doing wrong' to correct a right. It was a fun book to read. I could hardly wait to see how it was all pulled together.
Book Description
Goldy Schulz is thrilled to be catering a holiday breakfast feast for the staff of the Aspen Meadow Library. But little does she know that on the menu, alongside the Great Expectations Grapefruit, Chuzzlewit Cheese Pie, and Bleak House Bars, is a large helping of murder.
While setting up at the library, Goldy spots a woman lurking in the stacks who bears a striking resemblance to Sandee Brisbane—the Sandee Brisbane who killed Goldy's ex-husband, the Jerk. But Sandee is supposed to be dead. Or so everyone believes.
Goldy's suspicions mount when the body of Drew Wellington, a former district attorney, is found in a corner of the library with a map worth thousands of dollars stashed in his clothing. She's convinced that Sandee is involved.
But the holiday madness is only just beginning for Goldy. Soon she's drawn into the dangerous, double-crossing world of high-end map dealing. And like the ghost of Christmas past, Sandee keeps making an appearance. Could she be out to prove that revenge is sweet?

Sweet Revenge/Another Goldy Culinary Mystery.......2007-10-09
I have read all the books in this series and while I have enjoyed all of them, Sweet Revenge's ending was somewhat of a let down (anticlimatic). I would still recommend it but wish the ending was better.
absolutely horrible.......2007-10-04
I still can't believe it. I actually bought this book and 'Dark Torte'!
Both were a terrible disappointment. I read all of her first 12 books,
twice and loved them. What the hell happened? Mott Davidson could not have possibly written this book! How many times does a writer have to use 'had had' in one book, even on one page? I am an author, that is just plain laziness. All of the allegories, or made up cliches, if you will are horrible. The ridiculous way that Goldy continues to put herself in peril for nothing are worse than horrible. This woman has been banged up so many times, she should have been dead, five episodes ago. She's not James Bond, let's face it. I am slogging thru it, just to say I finished it but it's difficult, to say the least. The ony advantage of owning my personal copy, is that I can mark it up, with as many black marks, as I want to. C'mon Diane (may I call you Diane?). I don't know which lackey you handed off your 'pen' to but pick it back up again. This is not you!
Leaves you hungry for more--and not in a good way.......2007-09-27
I have been a fan of this series since the beginning but I was terribly disappointed with this effort. The character of Goldy has always been somewhat neurotic but now is additionally portrayed as rather shrill and overprotective, especially in the depicted relationship to her son, Arch.
I agree with a previous reviewer that much of the book was filled with Goldy's speculations about who might have been motivated to commit the crime as well as needless recapitulations of events. All in all, it was a tedious slog instead of a delightful bit of light mystery fiction.
Annoying and predictable.......2007-09-27
Diane Mott Davidson has missed the mark in this Goldie Schultz series Goldie has become tiresome and annoying in her amateur detective side line She interferes actually with the investigation and she needs to get a spine!! The other characters are very one dimensional and I think part of the problem is the reader I have never really enjoyed Barbara Rosenblatt's interpretation I really liked the early readings done by Mary Gross and I am totally sick of Goldie's husband calling her Miss G
Ugh........2007-09-25
This could very well be the worst Goldy mystery yet. Not only are the characters mere two-dimensional puppets, Goldy has turned into a narcissitic busy-body who I found myself rooting against. The supporting characters are merely that -- props that allow Goldy to to do whatever the heck she wants and then pull her out of trouble when she finds herself stuck.
How many times can one person put themselves in harrowing circumstances with no clear reason? How often can Goldy tromp over her friends and lie to everyone under the sun to stick her nose where it doesn't belong? How many map dealers could there possibly be in one small town? And how often can DMD use the phrases "white stuff," "two-step," and "quickstep?" The mystery itself doesn't make much sense, and Goldy vacillates from feeling sorry for Sandy to quaking in her boots at the mere mention of her name.
I used to love this series, but I'm afraid it just went onto my "don't waste your time list."

Book Description
At twenty-five, Princess Adrianne lives a life most people would envy. Beautiful and elegant, she spends her days dabbling in charities and her nights floating from one glamorous gala to the next. But her pampered-rich-girl pose is a ruse, a carefully calculated effort to hide a dangerous truth.
For ten years Adrianne has lived for revenge. As a child, she could only watch the cruelty hidden behind the facade of her parents' fairy-tale marriage. Now
she has the perfect plan to make her famous father pay. She will take possession of the one thing he values above all others--The Sun and the Moon, a fabled necklace beyond price.
Yet just as she is poised to take her vengeance, she meets a man who seems to divine her every secret. Clever, charming, and enigmatic, Philip Chamberlain has his own private reasons for getting close to Princess Adrianne. And only when it's too late will she see the hidden danger...as she finds herself up against two formidable men--one with the knowledge to take her freedom, the other with the power to take her life.
Customer Reviews:
Nora begins crafting her style --but the middle east aspect mars it. . ........2007-07-16
This was my very first Nora Roberts book. I read it when I was thirteen or fourteen, having just read Sidney Sheldon's If Tomorrow Comes, and was on a thief-as-heroine kick. This book began a long love affair with Nora's books, as she was just beginning to break away from the Silhouette serial format and perfect the Nora formula--very strong heroines far from the romance novel stereotype, beautiful, witty, main characters who you'd love to have as your friends, alternative family structures when biological families fail (the heroine's "Aunt Phoebe"), and the suspense plot (the paranormal and Irish element would not begin to dominate her books for a few years).
Those are the things I love about Roberts. However, one of her big flaws is here too. Nora's prolific writing habits result in a diversity of settings and professions for her books, but no human being could know enough to portray the complexity of all of her subject matter in a competent way. I have often been annoyed at her unrealistic portrayal of people in a variety of professions at the top of their fields at impossibly young ages, but that, of course, is part of the fantasy. Here, the absence of complexity is a more disturbing and damaging, because the depiction of the despotic, harem-owning, Middle-Eastern leader is pretty over-the-top (the frequent over-the-top villain is another one of her less than fabulous plot features). Please don't write this off as a "PC" critique. This is only a warning for people who, like the reader from Alabama, comments that this teaches her about the the Middle East, or for readers like the one who picked the book up and was understandably offended by the cartoonish depiction of the evil Arab father. I am not denying that there is misogyny in the Middle East (there is all over the world). But there's no doubt that this feeds into a representation of the Middle East that, if we read more widely, is far from the the complex histories and social structures in a variety of different countries.
As my first Nora, it holds a special place in my heart, but it does not hold up for me almost twenty years later because of the stereotyping.
Great book!.......2007-03-15
Written in true Nora Roberts style. This will be a book that I read over and over again.
She didn't live up to the hype!.......2007-01-23
I bought this book on a whim at the grocery store because a good friend of mine loves her books. What a waste of $8.00! Between the blurb on the back of the book, the blurb inside the front cover, and the first two chapters, I figured out how the story ended and completely lost interest in finishing it. I realize this book was released 18 years ago, but I have no interest in seeing if her writing has improved over time. She just didn't live up to the hype!
fantastic book.......2007-01-10
I love Nora Roberts books. She never lets me down. Great read.
Typical, Eurocentric Stereotypes About Muslims.......2006-11-04
I couldn't read past the second chapter. Roberts is just perpetuating the same old stereotypes about Muslims. It really steamed me that she used a verse of the Quran out of context for the title page of "The Bitter". "Your wives are your fields, so go to your fields as you like" isn't meant as a justification of sexual abuse and has never been interpreted as so by real scholars of the Quran. I'm not going to finish this book, because I'd rather not be reminded of how much I am viewed as some sort of exotic, oppressed "other" type of woman, thanks.

Customer Reviews:
No, its not the same as Garwood's "The Wedding"- its better.......2006-09-25
I'm a big fan of Julie Garwood books and at first Sweet Revenge got me thinking of Garwood's The Wedding *deja vu*, but Sands book is much better and that says alot. Most of Garwoods historicals are 10 stars books IMHO, but The Wedding isn't. The hero and heroine are not as likeable as they are here in Sand's Sweet Revenge. So, don't let it put you off that if you've read a *similar* story. This one is definitely worth a read.
In a nutshell, the basic plot revolves around revenge. Laird Galen MacDonald ambushes and abuducts his enemies bride-to-be. Its revenge for the killing of his own bride and their unborn babe. He weds the unsuspecting english woman while she's unable to refuse (have to read it to find out that one out :)) The rest of the book explores their growning attraction, her acceptance into the clan and of course, the enemies counter revenge.
So what makes this better than The Wedding? Simple, its the humor. Sands has a gift when it comes to making a historical funny. I laughed many times reading this one. The characters are excellent. Galen is perfect (who knew I could love a red-haired hero!!). He's kind and loving and very patient with Kyla. He understands that he forced her into this marriage and plans to make it up to her. The love scenes are *REALLY* steamy and hot, as in ala Kleypas/Jefferies books for camparison.
Get this book. Great characters, very good plot, just enough drama and plenty of good lovin'.
If you liked this genre, I would also recommend:
For Humor....
Sands- The Key, Bliss & What She Wants (can't recommend The Deed - I don't like dumb heroines)
More Dramatic...
Garwood- The Bride & its sequel The Wedding, The Secret and its sequel Ransom
Paula Quinn- The Lord of Temptation and The Lord of Seduction
Shades of Julie Garwood........2005-09-17
Lady Kyla Forsythe's sister-in-law, the treacherous Catriona, sends Kyla, and her faithful servant Morag, away without waiting for their recovery from the injuries they've suffered thanks to her. Catriona wants Kyla to marry the murderous MacGregor to keep her away from her home and her injured brother so she can manipulate him.
On her way to Scotland, Kyla and Morag are captured by Galen MacDonald and his men. Galen wants to marry Kyla because the MacGregor killed his wife and unborn baby. The Scottish laird wants revenge, but he claimed that the sweetest dish of all was never served cold...
Read it. You'll love it.
Undecided.......2004-06-03
While I do enjoy this authors books, to the point of rushing to my local "Book Swap" and library after my first by her, there were just a few things that bothered me. The First being she reminds me too much of Julie Garwood, whom I love. Sands has the same mood for her stories minus the character development, humor, tension, etc. In a way it's great to find a new author like one you love, the problem, I feel, being that they're too similar and Sands is found lacking. Especially with this story. In Garwood's "The Wedding" it's almost the exact same plot. Heroine waylaid/rescued by hero while on the way to be married to a cruel laird, whom also is a terror. A quick wedding...Just writing about it has me smiling and wanting to reread Garwood's for the 20th time. I don't think I could bring myself to reread any of Sands books. While I have to say they are good stories and I will read more by this author. I didn't feel a deep connection with the characters. It is as if they meet, put up with one another, have very few meaningful moments, if any, then on the last page declare their feelings and devotion. What I'm saying is if you like Sand's, you'll be kissing Julie Garwood's book covers.
Is this madness or love??? Since its Lynsay might be both!!.......2002-02-07
Well, Lynsay is back with another delightful tell.
After her brother's nearly fatal wounding, she flees the hills of her Highlands and finds herself captured by a well-muscled Scotsmen.
Little did she know the Scotsman was bent on revenge. Laird Galen MacDonald's wife was murdered nine months beforet by his enemy, Laird MacGregor. When Galen learns that the MacGregor plans to take an English woman as a bride, he decides to get his revenge by stealing her and marrying her himself.
Lynsay's character is no weak-willed miss, and while thrilled she is saved from having to marry the MacGregor, she plans a little revenge of her!!
Lynsay proves once again she is a writer that delivers!!!
good but the humor was missing.......2001-12-25
I have enjoyed all of Lynsay Sands' books but the I have noticed that the last few I've read are missing one key feature. Humor. The first book I read of hers "Always" was packed with humor and it made the story so memorable. This book was sadly lacking in it. It made for a good read but I don't think I'll reread it anytime soon. I liked the hero, Galen with is rare red hair. He seemed fair and gentle. The heroine Kyla is a strong willed wounded woman who was Galen's equal. I wish there had been a bit more conversation and maybe a bit more of a struggle between the two before they fell in love. I did enjoy the secondary characters in this book. The were the only humor to be found.

REVENGE IS SWEET!.......2006-10-07
Lucas Blackhawk is one HOT guy! He is the ultimate ALPHA male. He is tough, smart, sexy and had women chasing him all over until he married Julianna Hadley as revenge against her father. Jule has loved Lucas since she was in her early teens. The love scenes are scorching and numerous throughout the book. He's brought to his knees by the "love bug" and I loved watching him fall! He's angry about it and can't figure out how he could not only want her but NEED her as well. He's jealous and he ends up making a fool of himself with his best friend, Nick Santos. The ending was wrapped up a little fast but all in all it's a very good read.
Blackhawk's Sweet Revenge (Large Print Silhouette Desire).......2005-10-20
Blackhawk's Sweet Revenge is the first book in the SECRETS! trilogy from McCauley - second book in the series is Secret Baby Santos and the final book is Killian's Passion. Each can be read on their own, but I highly recommend reading the entire series in order!
Description from the book back cover:
Powerful tycoon claims virgin bride ... He was the renegade, the rebel .. and the object of her youthful affection. And when Lucas Blackhawk triumphantly returned home seeking revenge, Julianna Hadley readily agreed to his shocking proposal. Boldly she married the man who sought to destroy her father. For Juliana knew only her fierce and enduring love could tame her solitary groom. And as Lucas laid claim to her body and soul, vowing to accept nothing less than her ultimate surrender, his virgin bride resolved to win nothing less than all of Blackhawk's heart!
Great Story.......2004-03-29
Great story! I loved it. Here's what the back of the book says,,,,
The Bride's Demand
He was the renegade, the outcast . . .and the object of her youthful affection, and when Native American Lucas Blackhawk triumphantly returned to his hometown, on a quest for revenge, Julianna Hadley readily agreed to his shocking proposal.
Boldly she married the man who sought to destroy her father. For Julianna knew only her fierce and enduring love could tame her solitary groom. and as Lucas laid claim to her body and soul, vowing to accept nothing less than her ultimate surrender, his virgin bride resolved to win othing less than all of Blackhawk's heart.
Wow now i will have to read the other two stories!.......2001-11-27
This was a great story! It was really well written and was a quick read to boot.
Intensifying.......2001-05-08
It was a well written story of success. I enjoyed it very much. Lucas Blackhawk is well defined with strength, power and love rolled into one. He gets to do what every person would like to do who is wronged, set that wrong right. Julianna Hadley is grace and femininity that can ignite a hard core man and bring out the best in him. The two create a igniting love story that is both exploding and sweet. Each comes to know their own worth and how much more meaningful life can be together. His best friends are an added touch and will be an extra treat to read about. I highly recommend it. Barabara McCauley is a talented writer who should extend your stories into more pages. Would love to read a full length novel by her.
Book Description
In this delightfully infectious novel of love and intrigue, Leslie Glass puts a sly and sexy spin on two of life’s most devastating certainties: death and taxes.
Cassandra Sales is a woman with a gift for nurturing things—her husband, the successful wine importer; her two adult children; the fabulous flowers in her garden. After twenty-six years of marriage, however, Cassie’s husband, Mitch, is spending more time skipping abroad than remaining at home with her. Tired of being a modest Long Island housewife who can’t even remember what it’s like to be kissed, Cassie has a face-lift to recapture her youthful allure. The surprise for her husband goes awry when Mitch returns home early from a business trip. When he sees the post-op horror show, he collapses on the spot.
The resulting coma may spare Mitch from the tax audit he’s facing, but Cassie is forced to step in and research the facts of her own life. What she discovers about Mitch and the family business shocks her to the core: her “loving” husband was preparing to divorce her, swindle her out of tons of money, and run off with another woman.
As Cassie recuperates, she realizes what she’s after is revenge. Big time. But she soon learns that the road to retribution can lead to unforeseen and often deadly complications.
In Over His Dead Body, Leslie Glass blends supreme suspense and warm-hearted romantic comedy into a perfect mélange that is as inevitable as. . . death and taxes.

Help me pick which book to read next!!.......2006-04-22
I have recently finished Over His Dead Body by Leslie Glass and I loved it! I immediately started looking for more of her books, but was unable to decide which one sounded better. So I got three... A Killing Gift, For Love and Money: A Novel of Stocks and Robbers, & Tracking Time.
I can't wait to start them all!
Simply Awful.......2005-02-13
I can't think of a book I've ever read that had a cast of stupid, unlikeable characters such as this one. With no one to care about or root for, the book seemed to go on for ages, with pages and pages of nothing but filler, and nothing of substance happening.
What kind of woman finds out her brain-dead husband has been cheating on her for 12 years, is being investigated by the IRS, gets stonewalled by the family attorney, who happens to be her husband's best friend, and doesn't seek her own legal counsel? The whole book was filled with ridiculous events such as this one, where suspending belief didn't even make it plausible.
Bring back April Woo. This effort sucked.
one of the best.......2004-11-21
'over his dead body' is one of the best written, imaginative and fun books that i have ever had the pleasure to read. it's a total hoot with many turns of plot - a joy and page-turner. i have recommended it to all of my friends, and everyone has completely agreed with me.
we just LOVE ms. glass.
Delightful Departure.......2004-06-29
As a departure from her April Woo series, this is a delightful success. While not being a ordinary murder mystery, this does offer suspense when you realize every chapter reveals more information about her comatose husband. He turns out to be one of the most selfish cads I've read about in recent books. What makes this delightful is Ms. Glass's sense of humor about the thoroughly dislikable cast of characters. What a ride!
Why mess with a winning recipe?.......2003-11-30
As my title says, why mess with a winning recipe? Glass had a winner series of Detective April Woo book - witty and thrilling, with great characters. What else would you want in a murder mystery? I was TOTALLY disappointed with this trashy story, bad characters, who cares story line. I bought this book excited that Glass had a new April Woo book out and was undiscribably disappointed - especially because I live in Thailand had my friend bring the book all the way from the US! I recommend to skip this book, but do read her April Woo books, they are excellent! I can't wait for a new one to come out!
