Beginner's Book.......2007-09-27
Having read more than 6 other beginner books, I must give this 4 stars; 3 for the book and 5 for the CD. It is clearly written, gives a fairly solid foundation but lacks the following;
[] Clear entry and exit points - See Schlossberg
[] Candlesticks - See Pring (Candlesticks)
[] Fundamental analysis - See Jagerson (Profiting with Forex)
[] Basics - Go online or Archer/Bickford book
[] Mental conditioning - have not found a good book yet.
Nowhere in the editorial reviews or the back cover does it say that these topics are missing, so I had to mark the book down for that. The only reason I gave the CD 5 stars is because, once you have read the other books, the CD becomes valuable for beginners wanting to grasp setups that show entry and exit strategies.
Fair Book.......2007-05-23
This was the first forex book I bought,at that time it seemed very interesting, the system seemed very simple at a glance but after playing around with it I realise this was not for me.If you are new to forex it's a good start, not knocking the book it did arouse my interest to seek out other books. The momentum brake out is Raghee favorite pattern, for me the 34 esp.moving average is to far away from the market. A better combo is
8 and 21 SMA knowing how to use this combo will yield better results.
smarmy come-on.......2007-03-13
Have you seen the smarmy come-ons for shonky products? Sometimes advertised on TV or radio. With a free 800 phone number you can call, for free material. Sounds promising, you think. But then when the literature arrives, it's little more than a push to buy the "premium" stuff. That is what Horner's book feels like. She waffles all over the place, with interminable babble about the greatness of her method. Yet a careful parsing of the book shows little substance. All the while "subtly" mentioning her website with the hot stuff. Bait and switch.
Well, you could save some money and avoid this book. But unlike some others who suggested you visit her website and drop $400, I would recommend also avoiding it. Given the vapidness of the book, it is not a good precursor.
A terribly expensive brochure-an affront to financial literature.......2007-03-06
Any other book you buy on forex is going to be better than this one. You'll be left wondering how it is that the author could possibly feel that this is going to benefit anyone (except herself). A real disappointment. If I could have rated it less than 1 star I would have.
A come on to sell you her propriatary items.......2007-02-11
The book in general was fun to read but very lacking in any real technical analysis. The author simply uses a modified version of channels which she then purports as the end all in support resistance, entry and exits. If you want to get the indicators she uses they will cost you another 400 dollars! I thought this was a very tacky attempt at promoting herself. To me her book is just a way for her to build up her own trading account.

Hidden Mickeys.......2007-06-01
I am a long time Walt Disney World fan and love the challenge of finding the Hidden Mickeys. This book was recommended by a friend who thought I would like to see some of the more challenging Hidden Mickeys. I was not disappointed. The author has made this into fun scavenger hunt for the whole family.
Once you start looking, there's no turning back!.......2007-05-23
Some of my most enjoyable moments at Walt Disney World took place after my husband and I purchased Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickey's 2nd Edition! We began searching based on our location or ride line queue then that search continued at our resort and so on. This book gives you hints and tips on locating these Hidden Mickeys that have become pretty famous among visitors and fans, and when you really can't find Mickey, the book will list the exact location! After reading this book, I've become a fanatic and even find Hidden Mickey's in places there really aren't any - like my lawn where three pebbles fit the bill for a HM perfectly. This is a great way to entertain yourself or you children in lines at the parks or in shops and restaurants too!
A lot of fun & great for repeat visitors!!.......2007-04-10
We had so much fun with this! My kids were constantly searching for more. My husband & dad were a little skeptical at first, but were looking for them by the end of the trip. We found so many new things and enjoyed the search. We are Disney veterans and it made our trip much more interesting. Definitely will buy the next edition!!!
Fun for Families on Return Visits - 3.5 Stars.......2007-04-07
This book is a lot of fun. It's a great introduction to the concept of going to the parks and having a multi-layered experience. If you've been before, and you are going back, you obviously like Disney anyway. But it is fun (particularly for kids) to have an additionaly "mystery" to solve while walking the park and standing in line. The idea is that there are all kinds of "hidden mickeys" throughout the parks. A hidden mickey is basically a simple image of mickey's head: a large circle with two smaller circles connected (his ears). So the book explains all this, and has lists for where to find them. As a bonus, it also provides suggested iteneraries to avoid long lines and find certain hidden mickies. It's a lot of fun.
The down side to the book, from my perspective, is that it is difficult to find any one thing. The authors break information up by the purpose they assume a given reader might have, but if your need doesn't match one of those, you find yourself looking in many different places in the book for info. Another problem, and maybe its a "user error," but we couldn't find many of the hidden mickey's based on the descriptions in the book. They just didn't seem specific enough. Finally, many of the hidden mickey's, to me were just circles - a real stretch.
So I don't see this book as a definitive list of hidden mickies. I found this book to be more of a popularizer of a cool idea, with some very good ideas (e.g., the itineraries) added as a bonus. It's worth your dollars, but it won't be the best book on the subject written, I suspect.
OK, but not complete.......2006-10-02
This book is a lot of fun, but I question some of the hidden Mickeys in the book. Some aren't exactly hidden (the Mickey's in MouseGear at EPCOT, for example) but merely decorations. Other are very questionable and really aren't hidden Mickeys at all (by this I mean, just because there are three circles together doesn't mean they are a Mickey. A true Mickey has one large circle with two smaller circle ears). Other Mickeys are just over looked. For a free list of the Mickeys, you can also just checkout SpaceCoast Hidden Mickeys on the web. Overall, it's a fun book, but don't buy it if you are looking for a real list of the Mickeys.

Nice anecdotes about the success of others, but where is the meat?.......2006-06-25
Thank goodness I did not purchase this book! The library saves me again. A worthless read that did nothing to educate me in investing in probate real estate. The author focuses on anecdotal stories, mostly of success with making money off personal property--not real estate.
Basically an infomercial.......2006-06-13
I concur with everyone here. after reading this nonsense i wondered who i felt more sorry for, me for the hours of life i will never get back, or for the trees that died to publish it. I agree with the previous post, look at the death records and then work backwards. And that didnt waste your time or kill any nature.
Not worth it........2006-04-29
This book does not give solid practical advice. If you're a new investor who has never bought a house before, perhaps this would work for you. But if you've bought and fixed up a property it isn't for you. You'd be better served going to the probate court in your area and asking questions. It included lots of general anecdotes, but it makes one wonder why he wrote it if he weren't truly going to share how to do it. The actual probate advice in this book could be condensed to a 10-page pamphlet.
Don't Waste Your Money.......2006-01-21
I too had high expectations of this book. What a let down. I read alot of real estate books and this is the first time I felt cheated by the author. I thought this was a step by step book on how to purchase probate properties but I was dead wrong. Save your money, we all can't be wrong about this book...
Don't spend your money on this one!.......2005-11-18
Rarely do I write book reviews but this one was so bad that I feel obligated to let people know about it. The bottom line is that this book lacks the detail needed to really teach a person about the probate system and how to use it to successfully invest in real estate.

a very interesting book to page through.......2007-07-18
Kenneth Anger's hollywood babylon is the kind of book you can pick up and put down at any time.. I find it interesting to page through before or after I watch one of the older movies of hollywood's golden age.. I can't get enough of this sort of look into the dumpster of tinseltown.. the scandals and episodes that have been brushed under the carpet or just are no longer known about.. The list of characters that populate these pages are as colorful as they were glamorous.. and also at times hideous..
This is not very heavy reading but it is endlessly fascinating..
Thumbs down on the (myth-ridden) text, thumbs up on (some of) the pictures.......2007-07-12
What saves the sensationalistic - not to say trashy and in many places inaccurate - _Hollywood Babylon_ from being a total failure is the huge number of pictures, many shocking and some downright grisly (as in the picture of poor Thelma Todd lying done to death in her car), but mostly fascinating if sometimes nauseating (I'll talk about one of the worst offenders shortly). Which is a good thing, because frankly I want to take a bath every time I read the text to wash off the grime. We all know that Hollywood in its "Golden Age" was a long way removed from the image of saintly morality painted by its self-appointed guardians, the studio moguls - very many of whom had guilty secrets among them - chief among them, but Kenneth Anger seems to take a little too much delight in the sordidity and scandal for my own taste. What makes it worse is that he passes on a number of urban legends rather than do the boring work of get at the truth.
One of the most objectionable myths he fosters in this book, in my view, is the story that Jayne Mansfield was decapitated in the auto accident that took her life in 1967. This is simply not true. There is a ghastly photo in circulation on the web - I won't link to it but those who really want to know can Google for it - that makes it clear that her injuries, while fatal, did not result in the removal of her head. What you see on the car's crumpled hood in that photo (that Anger claims was Mansfield's noggin) is actually her wig. (And did we really need to see that photo of her dead Chihuahua? Ugh.)
If people want a really good book on Hollywood scandals, I strongly suggest they go find James Robert Parish's well-researched, evenhanded, brightly-written _The Hollywood Book of Scandal_ instead. (And that book doesn't contain any photos likely to make you lose your lunch, either!)
Juicy delicious!.......2007-05-19
If you think today's stars are misbehaved, wait til you read this! I couldn't put it down and read it in few days. Anger's style of writing is witty, sarcastic, and will compltely put you back into another era. The book focuses mainly on early, pre-code Hollywood up until Jayne Mansfield's death in 1967. There are so many juicy stories and even morbid details in this book, and tons of awesome pictures. (Although be warned- picture of Jayne Mansfield's car crash and dead dog are depressing and bloody). Includes everyone who was ever anyone- Clara Bow, Carole Landis, Carole Lombard, Marilyn Monroe, Valentino, Novarro, Judy Garland (who died on the toilet), Gary Cooper, William Randolph Hurst, Jayne Mansfield, Charlie Chaplin, etc. etc. etc. All the old legends are in here. Completely worth the price. I just wish there was a newer version.
great book and wonderful gossip.......2007-02-18
if your the type that is intrigued by anna nichole , michael jackson, brittney spears and paris hilton then get this book these people were the real hollywood deal the stars from the 20s 30s and 40s make todays stars seem like cub scouts. this book has it all sex , glamor , drugs all the stuff that will make you not put this book down . you couldnt make this stuff up if you tried .
VERY ENTERTAINING.......2007-01-12
I love reading the trash & gossip about the stars and this book provided it all. It was hard to put down and I was sorry when I finished it.

Great advice, poor accent.......2004-03-02
These best kept secrets aren't very well kept secrets, because I knew most of them already. I heard some of these secrets from other sources before I heard them from Peter Thomson. However, they are great communication skills and they do work. I just didn't like Peter Thomson's low-pitched English accent and voice very much. I found it hard to concentrate on what he was saying even when I was using some of his listening techniques. I had to turn the volume way up and the bass way down on my car stereo in order to digest what he was saying. Maybe his book would be better for me. Overall, it's a very good audio cd if you can stand to listen to it. (4.5 stars)
Listen to this to improve your communication skills!.......2004-03-01
Peter Thompson gives a comprehensive method of improving your communication skills. He gives 9 "secrets" and expounds on them, giving examples, defining them, and tell you how to improve them. These secrets (not in any particular order) include active listening, using body language, asking questions, and others.
The great thing about it is that it is entertaining and practical. I enjoyed listening to it and then trying to apply them in my life. Any person in business needs these skills, and I would say anyone can benefit from it, since we all communicate with others (well, unless you are a hermit in the mountains I suppose).
He also gives tips on how to better practice these skills and use the audio. Overall, it was a great program.

Book Description
Following the phenomenally popular
Casting the First Stone and
Too Much of a Good Thing comes a mesmerizing tale featuring rascally preacher Curtis Black
Too good to be true ...
It was love to hate at first sight when Kimberla Lawson Roby's readers met the Reverend Curtis Black, surely one of the cleverest ministers ever to set foot in a church. Now Curtis is starting over. He has a new job as founder and minister of Deliverance Outreach, a new wife (again), and a newfound will to follow the straight and narrow path of righteousness.
True love versus passion ...
Or so he thinks. While his spirit may be willing, the wayward preacher has a particular weakness when it comes to female flesh. Curtis has never made a promise he could keep, and before long, he's tempted to be up to his old tricks. The difference now is his third wife, Charlotte, mother of his seven-year-old son, Matthew, and a woman unlike any he's ever encountered. For the first time in his life, Curtis just might have met his match. Charlotte has her own hidden desires and is every bit Curtis's equal.
Secrets always have a way of surfacing ...
Struggling to make their marriage work, Curtis and Charlotte may have finally found the strength to stay together. But just when it looks like life for the Black family is getting back to normal, an explosive surprise ending will leave readers stunned.
Shhhh ... Don't tell.

Book Description
The second edition of the best-selling consumer guide to manufactured homes and purchasing land or leasing a home site, providing up-to-date, essential information home buyers need to make an informed purchase decision.
Completely revised and updated, including a new, annotated Construction Rating Table with 56 criteria you can use to evaluate any homebefore you buy.
The Buyer's Guide has been widely hailed as the definitive resource for navigating the tricky waters of the manufactured home marketplace. With this new 2006 edition, journalist, author and consumer advocate John Grissim (himself a manufactured home owner) has made many revisions and up-dates and added new material that make this invaluable resource even more useful to home shoppers.
Among the many additions are a greatly expanded discussion on selecting the right home, including a new glossary of common terms used in manufactured home construction, plus a new three-page Construction Features and Specifications Comparison Table with 56 criteria. This table enables you not only to identify what features are associated with different levels of quality but also to determine the construction quality (on a 1-to-10 scale) of any home you are evaluating. This is by far the most comprehensive detailed listing of construction features and quality ever provided consumers.
Among many topics receiving an expanded discussion is the installation (or set-up) process and the role of the set-up contractor, including a detailed installation check-list for home buyers. Warranty issues, and how to deal with them, receive added emphasis. Also included are tips to better calculate the fair asking price for a home, together with a simple formula for determining your offering price during negotiations.

Not Happy with the books........2007-07-23
I was not impressed with the 2 books I ordered. There was not a lot of information that was helpful. I felt the books touched a little on everything but not enough that I felt I got anything from it. It was just a book talking about the things that could happen or might be but no concrete info that could really help you make a decision on which mobile home to buy. I would like to be able to return these books.
The Grissim Buyer's Guide to Manufactured Homes and Land.......2006-09-20
Contrary to most people's impression of manufactured homes as slipshod and flimsy, John Grissim found out that many of them are attractive, well constructed, and built to last. In this thorough and clear book, Grissim guides the reader through the tricky waters of the manufactured home industry, detailing how to find a reputable dealer and negotiate a fair price, what to look for in construction details, how to hire a contractor for assembly (or act as your own), and conduct an informed inspection of the finished product. Manufactured homes can offer substantial savings over site-built homes and I wouldn't consider buying one without this comprehensive book. See also Grissim's accompanying volume, The Grissim Ratings Guide to Manufactured Homes.
-Lloyd Kahn, Editor, Shelter Publications
Great Information .......2006-07-31
I learned a lot from this book. It was very helpful to me and my customers. !!
Great book!.......2006-03-16
We purchased the Grissim book and found it to be an excellent guide and well-written. It covered all the bases, including what to watch out for when looking for the right rental community, which we're doing. We also bought his second book, The Grissim Ratings Guide to Manufactured Homes. That book is like a one-man Consumer Reports on all the builders, with construction ratings, the good, the average and the cheap. A huge help in our search.
A real eye opener.......2006-02-24
I've just moved to a nwe state and I had never thought of buying a manufactured home. That was until I started to look through some of them at a few of the dealers here. I was impressed at the affordability and quality of the units. The problem was I didn't know where to begin. I had so many questions, what are the options that are available, what must you be prepared to do to develop the site, who does what and when, what to look for in choosing a reputable company and salesperson, etc., etc. I was a little overwhelmed at all there was to do and to know. That was until I read John Grissim's book "The Complete Buyers Guide to Manufactured Homes and Land". Extremely well organized and easy to read and understand. This book was just what the doctor ordered. The book is not just read once but after reading to use as a reference and guide throughout the process. I can now, with cofidence, move forward with the project of finding a parcelof land and placing a new manufactured home on it. A project I was totally ill equipped to tackle before I read John Grissim's book.
I should add here that Grissim has written a companion book "The
Grissim Ratings Guide to Manufactured Homes" that is an overview of the pros and cons of manufactures, types of products each produces and a table of features and specs with ratings. These books complement each other and in my opinion you should have both of them.

Our tax code, the slave tax, has no limits. You have no say in it. It takes freedom of choice away from you. The FairTax sets you free. You decide when and how much tax to pay.

Dirty Little Secrets.......2007-08-26
The FairTax has many little secrets that never get a word in the press. This book does not mention them. Read the book, then go to fairtaxfraud.com to get the whole story, then make up your own mind. What could be fairer than that?
The Big Caveat.......2007-01-28
As a strict constitutionalist who abhors every conceivable aspect of the income tax, I urge every taxpayer in America to read this book, and the one by Boortz as well. The Fair Tax does, as other reviewers have noted, have a few warts, and the book doesn't help by claiming the bogus "24% raise". However, the replacement of the unconstitutional income tax and elimination of the government's meddling "social engineering" make it the best alternative available, as Ose and Boortz both stress. The real strength of both books is that they not only present the Fair Tax proposal but also provide supporting rationale, advantages, and benefits.
My one Fair Tax caveat that neither author addresses is that the Fair Tax makes it so very easy for our 565-stooge imperial congress to increase taxes by simply bumping the fair tax rate up a cent or two at will. I question why the book fails to address an inviolate rate ceiling as part of the solution. I would hope that future editions would do so.
Whatever, I suggest that it is to your advantage to read the book.
One Lie, Lots of Truth.......2006-12-09
I'm a big supporter of the Fair Tax and this book is OK. But it's title contains one huge lie, one being peddled by the supporters that needs to be stopped. The Fair Tax will *not* give you a 25% pay raise. It is impossible for that to happen unless prices skyrocket. The embedded tax being ripped out of your paycheck must absolutely be equal to the amount that will be paid by the Fair Tax. Where is the money going to come from to raise your take-home pay up to your gross pay? If your employer is paying $10,000 worth of taxes on your $50,000 salary, the Fair Tax will mean he pays $10,000 at the cash register, then pays you $40,000. Dale Jorgenson has specifically noted that Boortz and Ose and others are mispresenting the Fair Tax by claiming you will get a 25% pay raise.
The principle advantage of the Fair Tax is the efficiency, the simplicity and the openness. And the massive cut in tax compliance cost. But this nonsense being peddled that money is going to magically appear in your paycheck needs to be stamped out.
This book itself is OK. But its economic igorance is annoying. Much better discussion can be found just by typing "Fair Tax" into google. The Fair Tax is awaiting serious consideration so what we might eventually see may bear little resemblance to what is proposed here.
Fair Tax the best way to fund government.......2006-08-23
The most important thing about the Fair Tax - EVERYONE would know EVERYTIME they paid their income tax. The sneaky way the government is funded now - through witholding taxes - keeps people from knowing how much they pay in income tax. In fact, most people think they don't pay income tax when they get their refund!
If there were a national sales tax, then every time someone purchased something, they would see right there on the sales slip, how much they paid to fund the government.
The wealthy would pay MORE tax, just as most people want. Why? Because they buy more. And the things they buy cost more.
Saving would be encouraged. Much red tape would be eliminated. No one would pay tax on necessities.
There is no down side to the Fair Tax.
I've heard it all, yet still support the FairTax!.......2006-07-27
For the blowhards who say the government will raise taxes on guns, but not Big Macs, I have a guestion to ask them, "have you read this bill?" or better yet, "do you understand this bill?".
The qualities of the FairTax are revenue neutral and the consumption tax is a flat rate...across the board! The government couldn't adjust the tax rate on one item and not adjust the tax rate on another item. For this to happen, it would have to be a legislative proposal that would then have to be ratified by the states.
The obvious solution to our rediculous tax structure here in the United States is to simply get rid of the income tax completely as it was so clearly printed in our constitution. The only problem with this is that politicians are having a hard enough time just considering the FairTax right now so what makes you think that they'll even think once about eliminating the income tax at all??? Politicians love the income tax (especially the Demoncrats and Greenies) because it creates a hardened class-warfare system that they can use to run campaign platforms from. The well-known "tax the rich" or "make the rich pay more" versus the "welfare state" or the "entitlement classes" are the best grounds of political warfare that career politicians use to stir up their voter base!
This book completely urges the reader to become actively engaged in supporting the FairTax, which is the best idea to eleviate the current tax burden. America is too rich to tax into submission and with the passage of the FairTax we can become even more successful in our own rights.
This is a must read and is a companion book to "The FairTax Book" by Neal Boortz and John Linder. Both should be read and understood. This idea of complete tax reform cannot pass until the citizenry of America is better informed of this. We have to let the pigs in D.C. know that we understand what is going on and demand a change!
Book Description
Oh sure, Texas is bigger and California is cooler, but for sheer, out-and-out weirdness, no state even comes close to New Jersey. You probably know of the infamous Jersey Devil, but have you heard of the Matawan Man Eater or the Hoboken Monkey-Man? Maybe you'd like to cruise down haunted Annie's Road in Totowa, or take a stroll through Vineland's bizarre Palace of Depression? These are just some of the offbeat and odd, the mysterious and unexplainable, the spooky sights and local legends that don't appear on any tourist map. You'll only find them here, along with an amazing assortment of roadside oddities, abandoned asylums, natural phenomena and unforgettable people along the highways and byways of the Garden State. From Caldwell's Mystery Thread and the Dancing Jesus of Whippoorwill Road to the campaign to save Middletown's Evil Clown, you'll laugh, gasp and marvel at the everyday weirdness that is New Jersey.

I PREFER TWO, BUT YOU WOULD FEEL LIKE YOU ARE MISSING SOMETHING WITHOUT SEEING AND READING THE FIRST.

This Book Will Go A Long Way Towards Explaining Me To Others..........2006-03-20
I received this as a gift from a close friend. As one who was born and mostly raised in Jersey, it really explains a lot about me and my family. The book was terrifically funny, and also gives some great insight into the experince of growing up "Jersey". After reading this, I think I have a greater appreciation for midwesterner's weird reaction to ME. A must have for those among us who still pine away for life in Jersey in the 50's and 60's and beyond. You can take the kid out of Jersey, but you can't take Jersey out of the kid, and this book brings it all home.

Fun, funky folklore..........2005-11-08
Weird NJ is a fun, funky book of legends and folklore about the Garden State. Written by Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran, it started as a journal, evolved into a magazine and has now morphed into a popular book (in New Jersey, anyway).
Most readers have heard about the Jersey Devil and UFO's. But Weird NJ goes way beyond these "mainstream" oddities. The stories in Weird NJ were gathered over ten years. The authors claim that they like to "churn up the historical muck" and that "when the line between history and legend begins to blur is the tightrope we like to tread." Many of the stories came from readers, and it is to them this book is dedicated.
The authors take us on quite a journey. We would expect monsters, ghosts and haunted houses. But Sceurman and Moran bring us even further. The chapters are broken down into such topics as Ancient Mysteries, Unexplained Phenomena, Local Heroes and Villains, Cemetery Safari, Roadside Oddities, Roads Less Traveled and Abandoned NJ (to name just some of them). Most of the stories also include pictures and drawings. We see a Stone Living Room and a house shaped like a cookie jar. The authors try to find the fabled midget village and tribes of albinos. We see a mystery lake in the Pine Barrens called the Blue Hole, and the Gates of Hell in Clifton. There is just so much here to keep you entertained.
My only complaint about Weird NJ is that most of the stories take place in North Jersey (South Jersey gets slighted once again). Also, I felt the authors could have done a little more to separate fact from fiction in some instances. But despite these minor flaws, I plan on giving a number of these books for Christmas this year. I know that they'll be a big hit.
This book is friggin great........2005-09-15
This book is definitely a must-have for any borderline-eccentric New Jerseyans who are in to strange / off-the-wall stuff about the Garden State. It's definitely one of those "I couldn't put it down" type of books. Oh yeah, it's a bit creepy too. Enjoy!

Who knew that models use hemorrhoid cream to combat eye puffiness? Diane Irons knew, that's who. She's a model herself and has compiled a bunch of little-known but definitely useful beauty tips. Her advice ranges from the unusual (play classical music at mealtimes and you'll eat less; add aspirin to shampoo to combat dandruff) to the downright wacky (use mascara to touch up hair roots; use antiperspirant on your feet in summer). Hey, if it works, it works! She's also included tons of diet tips, including 50 recipes that check in at 200 calories or less per serving, as well as lists of herbs and supplements to aid quick weight loss. With many of the tips geared toward women on the run, this book is like a Hints from Heloise for the glamour set.

Beauty secrets.......2007-07-29
This is my third Diane Irons books,I love every one of them.Great savings on my face creams, i have done most of her skin treatments and the do work for me.
enjoyed this book.......2007-01-03
found it practical and inspiring. since i spend a small fortune on cosmetic products, i view this as a way to spend less and use more natural products.
I agree with Shaz Oi you it's full of great ideas.......2006-07-27
I appreciated Shaz's comment in her June 26, 2001 addendum in which she wrote the following:
"I was particularly interested in the tip of using coffee grounds for cellulite control. I emailed Diane Irons office regarding a more specific application of the coffee grounds, and this is what she wrote back:
"The coffee grounds should be warm when applied. Sit on the edge of your bathtub (or in your shower w/ newspaper beneath you). While you're massaging in the grounds, most will fall to the floor. The residue is what remains, and this should be wrapped (she didn't specify, but I assume any old plastic food wrap will do). Leave on for 5-10 minutes to detoxify and smooth. Rinse off with warm water and a loofah or vegetable brush".
I tried this, and after one session, I swear my skin felt taught the rest of the day. Brilliant!"
Thanks Shaz, for elaborating on how to use that coffee ground tip in the book. Because of your review I bought the book and I'm glad I did.
Most of the tips are really straight forward. But knowing how to apply that one tip alone is worth the price of the book! The price of cellulite creams and potions are astronomical and used coffee grounds are free!
And there is so much more.
This is a keeper.
May I suggest you use a highlighter and review the book once in a while for more tips to try. Or a sticky note in the flyleaf with notes for fast reference.
One of Diane's best books.......2003-09-08
I recently purchased this book because I am a big fan of Diane Iron's books. All of them are filled with interesting, inexpensive, and easy-to-apply tips in diet, beauty, and fashion, and I was very pleased with "The World's Best-Kept Beauty Secrets". Diane compiles over 230 essential pages of tips, advice, and secrets. Besides covering beauty, this book also features hair care advice, very neat fashion tips, delicious recipies all under 200 calories, diet secrets, and much, much more. For example, you can make cleansing masks out of kitty litter and mayonnaise (yes, kitty litter and mayonnaise), that work just as well, if not better, than store-bought masks. What to do if that party information says "Formal Dress" or "City Attire"? Turn to this book to find a description of good things to wear! Also, an entire chapter is devoted to secrets of models that seem to always look perfect. Did you know that many models use toothbrushes to clean their lips?- the bristles help slough off dead skin. Or that small birthday candles can get a stuck zipper to get going again? How about washing that scorched shirt from your iron with a basin of hydrogen peroxide and mild detergent?- it will bring your shirt back to life! Find many more of these useful tips, and much more in "The World's Best Kept Beauty Secrets". It's a great invesment for all women, and will help you look your best no matter what.
GREAT.......2003-03-03
This book was EXTREMELY interesting. It had fun, and interesting tips for things such as slimming fashion ideas, natural weight loss herbs, relaxing spa tips, and things that every woman should carry in her purse. It was very helpful. It's like the Bible for all women.
