Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

5 out of 5 stars Chumash.......2007-10-07

The Stone Edition Chumash which has the Torah, haftarah, and various commentary by Rashi and other great sages, is one of the best study guides for Torah. It has a very clear and accurate translation and also has the Hebrew texts along with the aramaic texts of the commentators. I recommend The Stone Edition Chumash for all serious students.

5 out of 5 stars The best way to understand Yeshua!.......2007-09-25

Aside from the direct translation from Hebrew, the added Rabbi commentary really helps the reader to fully understand the scriptures. Never have I seen commentary for almost every verse in the first five books of the bible! This is the foundation for discipleship that the "American church" lacks.

I find this Chumash of the Stone edtion as an exquisite endeavor of translation, and exegesis that will surely benefit every Torah lover- either Hebrew native speakers of English ones.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm not Jewish. I'm something of an amateur religious studies kind of guy, and over the years I've read the sacred texts of almost every major world religion.
Of all of the copies of the "Old Testament" I've ever read, whether from Christian, Jewish, or secular sources, this is by far, -far and away- the best. I've recommended it to my Christian friends as an excellent source. It's an easy read on the basic level, but the notes and explanations allow a student to expand the reach of their education.
It's not cheap, but it's well made, beautiful to hold, and will probably outlast you.

I have been so engrossed in reading this Torah, that I even take it to work. If you truly want to know the heart of G_d, get this book and read it! I have been very fortunate to have a Jewish friend who is giving me guidance as I read.

The book itself is beautiful, deep blue cover with gold lettering. The quality and workmanship is incredible.

Enjoy and get to know Him.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Amen!.......2007-08-27

After years of uncertainty about the accuracy of my Bibles (King James and New International Version), I have decided to get a Jewish one. 99% of the Old Testament were written in Old Hebrew, and while the language has evolved, I hope a Jewish translation would be more accurate than a Gentile one, given Hebrew is their native tongue.

I am not a scholar and don't care to verify my Tanach against original scrolls - if I can find or understand them - and so I hope I have made the right decision in my quest for an accurate, fundamentalist Bible. The Jewish reviewers here seem content with the quality of translation and so I'll have to take their word for it. The best thing would be to learn Hebrew, but given how few people speak it, I would be better off learning Chinese. The editor admits the authors eschewed transliteration to gain a more fluent English translation. I will consult the Christian Bible for New Testament scripture.

The layout and big typeface make it easy on the eyes. It includes commentaries and other aids like maps, family trees and so forth, and is written in modern English. No more 'thee,' 'thou,' 'art,' or 'ye.' The pages turn left to right which induces a sense of authenticity for this Gentile.

Amen!

3 out of 5 stars Okay but lacks commentary.......2007-07-22

This gorgeous volume is sadly lacking the rabbinical commentary for which reason I purchased it in the first place. Needless to say, I will be continuing my search for good commentary (Jewish rabbinical commentary) on the Bible. I was also shocked to find gold gilt-edging on the top and not the side and bottom pages; but I guess it is supposed to be this way? If you are just wanting a beautiful Jewish Bible, this one is that- beautiful. If you are looking for an accurate translation, you would do much better with a different translation. If you are looking for in-depth commentary, I must discourage you from this particular version since the commentary is very, very limited.

5 out of 5 stars I love it!!.......2007-07-16

I am very pleased with my Stone Edition Tanach. It is a bit big and bulky though. That is not a complaint,as it is very nice. But I am considering getting a smaller student edition for times when I want to tote it around with me.

4 out of 5 stars A beautiful Tanach.......2007-02-21

Most of what I would say here has already been said -- this is just a gorgeous edition of the Tanach. I would like to emphasize, however, that this is NOT the JPS translation. There are many things about this translation that I like better than others (see other reviewers' commentaries on the opening lines of Genesis, for example), but I strongly dislike what is done with many of the poetic books, particularly Psalms and the reprehensibly overinterpreted Song of Songs. However, there are a variety of other upsides to this edition, such as the incredibly useful notes and appendices. Overall, I highly recommend it, but keep in mind the caveat against the Song of Songs translation.

5 out of 5 stars A sacred siddur.......2007-02-21

This orthodox siddur bound in keepsake leather with gold edging is destined to be a heirloom, as well as a durable spiritual companion. This is a quality edition printed on high quality paper, with a cloth marker.

Book Description

Clive Cussler debuted his new series, The Oregon Files, with the incredible adventure of Golden Buddha. Now he follows that triumph with Sacred Stone, a rollicking new tale featuring the enigmatic captain of The Oregon, Juan Cabrillo.

In the remote wastes of Greenland, an ancient artifact possessing catastrophic radioactive power is unearthed. But the astounding find puts the world at risk.

Caught between two militant factions bent on wholesale slaughter, Juan Cabrillo and his network of spies known as The Corporation must fight to protect the stone-and prevent the outbreak of World War III.

1 out of 5 stars Barely gets 1 star.......2007-10-10

I have read every Cussler novel before and after this. This is the only one that's taken me more than two days to read. Every new book, I look forward to sitting down on a quiet weekend and reading my way through the book. It was horrible. In fact, it gave horrible a bad name. I was crushed. Thank goodness this novel was an anomoly.

4 out of 5 stars Another Juan Cabrillo Novel.......2007-07-04

Clive Cussler was born in 1931 and grew up in Alhambra, California. He attended Pasadena City College before joining the Air Force. He went on to a successful advertising career, winning many national honours for his copywriting. He has also explored the deserts of the American Southwest in search of lost gold mines, dived in isolated lakes in the Rocky Mountains looking for lost aircraft and hunted under the sea for shipwrecks of historic significance, discovering and identifying more than sixty. He is married with three children, and divides his time between Colorado and Arizona. His credentials as a best selling author cannot be doubted and he has a large `stable' of best selling adventure novels.

Clive Cussler began his series The Oregon Files, with the adventure of the Golden Buddha featuring the captain of the Oregon, Juan Cabrillo. Now he follows on the series with the Sacred Stone a new adventure featuring Juan Cabrillo.

The whole world is put at risk when an ancient artifact that possesses enormous radioactive power in unearthed in a remote part of Greenland. Caught between two militant powers that are bent on using that power to commit wholesale slaughter, Juan Cabrillo and his network of spies known as The Corporation must do everything in their power to protect the stone from all the factions that are doing their utmost to obtain the artifact. Only in this way will World War III be averted.

1 out of 5 stars Did Clive Cussler even READ this book??.......2007-04-11

Mr. Cussler, please don't lend your revered name to such poorly written stuff as "The Oregon File" series. Your name on the cover, and your pic on the back may sell books to your loyal fans, but will quickly destroy our faith.

2 out of 5 stars Too many characters and plots.......2007-03-29

Ok, I bought the audio edition of this to listen to on my drive to work and back. This story almost made me fall asleep at the wheel. Too many characters or similar depths made it difficult to keep track -- in fact, I still dont know who half the characters were. Did Cussler write this book? Save your money and your sanity and get a different cussler book.

4 out of 5 stars A great adventure, as expected from a Cussler book!.......2007-02-03

There has been much criticism surrounding the factual details within this book. Sure, the book clearly shows how the authors have likely never studied a map of the UK, and perhaps some British people might get annoyed at the inaccuracies of train station announcements or a barman being called a bartender, but these are just small details and can be forgiven seeing as this is not real life, but a work of fiction! (I wonder how many British authors get American places and expressions correct.). So what if the book puts Edinburgh west of Glasgow; it's not a geography book, but an adventure novel set in a make-believe world. Perhaps the writer was holding the map upside down? Either way, it would be nice if facts could be researched, but I feel that many publishers put such stringent deadlines on these mass paperback authors that they simply don't have the time to fact check the smaller things. It's also likely that most of this book was written by Craig Dirgo, but seeing as Clive Cussler invented the characters in a Dirk Pitt novel he owns the copyright and therefore the co-writer writes the book under his guidance. The style is very different from his Pitt and Austen novels, and it does tend to jump about and is sometimes hard to keep up. And it's true that there are far too many characters involved. However, all this aside, the book is a refreshing change from the standard Pitt and Austen adventures (Kurt Austen is in fact pretty much just another Pitt with a different name and some different hobbies (Instead of collecting antique cars he collects antique pistols)). The Oregon files introduces us to a completely different hero, the ever-inventive leader of a band of mercenaries with a conscience, who only go into battle for what they believe in and feel will have a positive effect on mankind (Sounds like another leader I know!). Sacred Stone is a compelling read and it did keep me wanting to turn the pages to see what happens next, which is always the mark of a good author. I put another unfinished book down to read this Cussler book, and did not regret it. This just goes to show that Cussler's books are still a cut above the rest.

    Book Description

Courageous, passionate men and women battle for survival of their clans--in the shadow of the great mammoth who speaks with thunder....

As the massive glaciers fade and the wide seas rise, the warm grasslands of the Americas bring prosperity to the gentle People of the Red World, followers of the Great Ghost Spirit, the White Mammoth.  But farther north, where the harsh dry winds howl, another nation, the People of the Watching Star, are enmeshed with legends of an evil shaman and the man-eating monster called the wanawut.  Relentlessly they have hunted the mammoth to near extinction.  Now, as raiders and ravagers they are coming south to invade the villages of the People of the Red World.  The only ones who can prevent the murder of innocents and the final slaughter  of the mammoth are a young boy shaman to whom the animals speak, a man whose strength equals his conviction, and a woman who hopes that, beyond violence and cruelty, humankind will recognize a stronger power--the force of love.

5 out of 5 stars The Sacred Stones.......2007-10-06

Again William Sarabande has hit the mark!!! Gutsy story, full of wonderful dialog, and well researched history of the First Americans. I couldnt put the book down. He nails his caracters with the first introduction to them in the story line, and builds upon them as they play vital roles in the story. Will look forward to more of his works as they come available. Thank you for a wonderful reading sensation.

2 out of 5 stars Extremely bloody as Sarabande like its.......2005-05-30

William Sarabande is the gore-master of the ancient people series. He occasionally rises to descriptive eloquence, and he very occasionally tries to describe ancient cooking and housekeeping methods, like Jean Auel does (but much better). But the overriding thing that I hate about Sarabande is the unrelenting blood! Horrific killings, sacrifices of virgins, tortures, delayed deaths, yuck. I know that some Native Americans practiced horrific killings (I hated "Dances with Wolves" too!) But this is not entertainment for me. It is horror, like watching Gremlins or reading a Stephen King novel. I also felt that the religious themes of this novel were too advanced, too close to what we know, to sound authentic. For example, Ysuna will gain life everlasting if she eats of the white mammoth. Is this something that true Native Americans believed? I don't know. It just sounded suspiciously like Western thought (or Middle Eastern blood atonement religions.)

I read this book because I liked a previous one where Navakh was almost a real character, and even his moment of death was described quite interestingly. But even that novel was real bloody. I shouldn't have thought Sarabande would change. Sorry.

1 out of 5 stars It beats being force-fed a coat-hanger, but not by much........2003-07-03

I'm disturbed by the rave reviews this book is getting from the other reviewers on this and other sites; I'm reading this entire series, recommended to me by a trusted friend as something terrifically *bad*, out of something akin to horrified fascination with the idea that this is what sells, this is what people are reading. I worry about the human race; Sarabande's characters are flat and uninteresting, unrealistically motivated, speak and think with identical voices ... the only reason we know their personalities are different from each other's is because the author goes out of the way to *describe* those personalities to us. The author slept through those introductory English classes where the professors beat "show, not tell!" into your head with a two-by-four. The bizarre leap from one set of characters and time period to another, possibly an attempt to start over with a clean slate, didn't bother me after the initial moments of "guh? What just happened here?" but the religious reverence with which Torka and Lonit were held in this book was enough to make me gag (although it *does* remind me a bit of the strange reverenge Sarabande is paid by his fans on these websites). The action proceeds at a good clip, and there are *moments* in the book that approach dramatic or fascinating, but there are so many botched attempts, moments of outright stupidity, and agonizing attempts at character development that fall so short of the mark it's almost comical that this is a book (and a series) I cannot respect.

Read the phone book instead! It may not be as engaging, but it will probably broaden your horizons!

5 out of 5 stars New land, new people some great storyteller!.......2002-12-12

I did wonder at the start why they are following the owl, a Native American symbol of death, at the beginning of the story, until I got it. It did put a small sad level of the inevitability of history in the story that we could have done without, but that is all in the future.
I found it interesting how the author had the characters understand their history as a people with all of the gaps and missing and re-invented parts to make up for the loss of the old knowledge kept by the "Blue Faces". When I found out what the "Sacred Stones" were and what there people thought they were and what they could do I was left shaking my head at their lack of knowledge. How could they forget that they are...ah,well, then I realized that the author had drawn me in and I was hooked to the new series. We must learn new ways.

Another good book by Sarabande. You'll enjoy reading this one.

Although Jewish scholars have recognized the French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas as one of the greatest minds of this century, the majority of Jews have remained ignorant of his teachings, largely because his work-even in translation-is dense and erudite. Rabbi Ira Stone, who has studied Levinas's work for many years and incorporated his methods and perspectives into his own teaching, now makes Levinas accessible to lay readers for the first time.

This book made me actually plan a trip, and reserve a hotel, on Iona, but to my everlasting regret, circumstances caused a cancellation of our plans. But like Wiederkehr's "A Tree Full of Angels", there is definitely some over-the-top stuff here, just not Catholic in nature. Very definitely New Age. Howell is a Jungian psychologist, which should tell you much. The lure of this island, though, as Howell describes their stay there, is almost unbearable. Perhaps someday.

5 out of 5 stars Connects the earth, its feminine nature and the divine.......1999-05-25

Alice O. Howell has written the type of simple book that holds profound truths. It is personal in the wonderful love story of Alice and her husband Walter and universal in their search for spiritual truth. I always wanted a book like the ones Marmee gave each of the Little Women and this is it. There are excerpts of spiritual passages from all the world's religions and there is the connection of the Earth, its feminine nature and the Divine Spirit. If you are interested in Celtic Christianity, the Hagia Sophia or the esoteric tradition in Western Philosophy I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Quite transcendent in its message.......2003-11-15

Knowledgeably written by Galen Gillotte (a "Solitary Wiccan" who draws upon her twenty years of experience and expertise), Sacred Stones Of The Goddess: Using Earth Energies For Magical Living offers prose and invocations, guides for incorporating crystals and semiprecious stones into talismanic magic, meditations and prayers to the Goddess. Expressly written for Wiccan and New Age Magick practitioners of all skill and experience levels, Sacred Stones Of The Goddess is deeply spiritual, and quite transcendent in its message. Of special interest are the easy to follow instructions for assembling and utilizing personalized thirteen-stone divination set and instructions for crating and Wiccan prayer beads for communion with the Goddess. Sacred Stones Of The Goddess is an informed and informative contribution to New Age Metaphysical Studies collections in general, and Wiccan oriented "Goddess Worship" reference shelves in particular.

4 out of 5 stars It was a good spell book with added gems........2003-10-21

No pun intended, the gems are not the gemstones but the relaxation exersize at the begining of the book, embracing the goddess and god meditations, working with the elements section, and using meditation beads section. These are the true gems of this book. The spells were alright. They informed you of the goddess and stone that were to be used. The guides meditations are nice, and poetic. There is a section at the end of each spell that gives you advise on how to further bring the purpose of that spell into your life. My favorite parts were the priestess speaks, they were very uplifting. I will be using the last few sections of this book often and also the relaxation technique that she offered earilier in the book. I am also going to look at her prayer books, her poetry is very beautiful.

3 out of 5 stars Not what I expected but good nonetheless.......2003-10-05

When I first saw the title and the back cover description, I thought this would be a pretty in-depth exploration of stone energies and how they can be used in goddess magic (something along the lines of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic). I don't believe that a book should be entirely judged by my own preconceptions, but even on it's own merits, the book is a little shallow.

This book is really a series of spells/meditations tapping into specific Goddess archetypes for specific life events or obstacles. Each spell uses a certain kind of stone that the author feels resonates with that particular goddess. So far, so good.

However, while I found the Goddess explanations to be fairly well fleshed out, the explanations for why she chose that stone and the meditations connected to the spells are often short, leaving me wanting more information and imagery. Toward the end, some of the meditations have even become repetetive - the Goddess smiles at you and gives you a specimen of the stone that is recommended for the spell. Also, all of the spells have exactly the same structure. For different life events, I personally think it would be nice to have different kinds of rituals.

I do have to say that the elemental meditations sometimes had much richer imagery than some of the Goddess ones, and I do like the idea of approaching the elementals in a personified form. I also really liked the idea for Goddess and God prayer beads. Prayer is a lesser explored aspect of pagan/Wiccan tradition, and I like that she offers information (and beautifully written prayers) to those interested in that particular form of worship.

In conclusion: this book does have some beautifully written ritual passages, spells and prayers, but the meditations come up a bit short. It's also a bit short on actual stone information (making the title somewhat misleading). I think Kala Trobe does a much better job with Goddess meditations in her book "Invoke the Goddess" which Gillotte has actually listed as a reference.
