Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

What the...?.......2007-09-14

I thought this author hated fan fiction. I mean, on her web site she forbade her fans from writing any more of it back in 2000.

And yet, skimming through this book, I saw scene after scene, dialog thread after dialog thread, that seemed to have been plucked directly from some of the (much better written) fan fiction I've encountered over the years. Take the scene in which Marius and Thorne go out to the local watering hole and meet up with three ladies, for instance. I read that same scene in a piece of fan fic fully two years before this book was released. The fan's scene involved different characters, but otherwise it was nearly verbatim.

Then again, maybe that was the real reason she demanded all fan fiction be removed from the Internets.

Outside of that rather intriguing item, this book was a crashing bore.

Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03

Blood and Gold is an example of another book of the Vampire Chronicles series that is of around the same quality as The Vampire Armand.

Instead of Armand though, this is Marius' story, and Armand is of course part of this. However, the major focus is his discovery of a vapire, his turning, and his eventual custodianship of the two ancient statue-like vampire elders, and the problems this causes.

This book is one of my personal favorites for Anne Rice. Mostly just because the character Marius from the vampire chronicles is also one of my favorites. I love the writing in the book. It is very detailed, as any avid Anne Rice/vampire chronicles fan can attest too, but it doesn't slip into the long-windedness that becomes boring either.
But I loved the story, chronicling from the great Imperial Rome into the Byzantine Empire and then the Italian Renissance until now. There is a love for the each of the time periods described that really comes through.
Being an Anne Rice fan, this book truly is one of my favorites of hers. But as I said, her character of Marius was always one of my favorites anyways.

Marius has always been an interesting character to me ever since I saw the movie Queen of the Damned and read the book The Vampire Lestat. Although I read parts of his life in the book, The Vampire Lestat I had an urgency to know more about him. It seemed as though Anne Rice had forgotten Marius; I once thought to myself how wonderful it would be if she had wrote a book about his life in the big picture. However, it turns out she already did.I finally had the book about the ledgendary vampire who is revered and known by most vampires. I had it right in my hands which was enthralling. This is my first time to review a product so bear with me please.

The Story of Marius is filled with adventures, wealth, relationships, adventure, pain, loss, vanity, and abandonment. His life from imperial rome to modern times reflects something that is truly undeniable and that is life.

Here is a man (or vampire) who lived his life for 2000 years, filled with many things most men (and women) wish to have; Wealth, Power, Fame, Love, and adventure. But ironically as it turns out, Marius, who still lives on in the novel,still lives a wretched life in the inside and that is a feeling of loneliness and abandonment as the result of a break-up with Pandora, Bianca, Lestat, Mael, Avicus, and Zenobia. But How does this reflect the theme of life? That life is not like other typical novels with solid plots and happy endings. Instead Life is filled with personal (and big) events that are important to one who bears it. This isn't really a typical story, but a story with an authentic components of life; Pain from loss, loneliness, and abandonment. Joy with those who he loved and loved him back. Regrets when someone leaves the other. Loneliness which makes one long for love and an intimate relationship than the wealth of the world. Challanges he faced in his life. To me the life of Marius seemed real enough to come alive. Although there is no solid plot in the life of marius, I would like to argue in the book's defense that there is no life with a solid plot but only experience which one longs to tell as if it was a tale to tell.

To listen to a story of Marius would be like getting to know him personally. To listen to his story, you are actually listening to one of the most powerful and ancient vampires there is in the world of Anne Rice. You are only discovering his immortal past filled with the things I have listed above.
It's true that the book didn't have both a satisfying ending and a relevant title (Blood and Gold) that doesn't relates to Marius (Perhaps if one reads the book carefully maybe the title could be understood well enough), which were the only things I didn't have much fond of. But for those who are curious to know Marius I strongly recommend you read this book and I hope you will have no regrets reading it for it is truly an appreciative experience.

It was avery good book overral as you can see I gave it four stars and it had a good story, lots of action and left you hanging sometimes but it was good. The WORST problem with this book was that there were so many ERRORS. One part in the book had three pages copied again in the book so it was like pages 1 and 2 were exactly the same as 3 and 4. Also, there were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors. I can't think of any right now but there were. Also, it was kind of annoying how the author always said "blood brothers" and he said it like every time he mentioned Matt and Sam. He almost NEVER used just brothers ,so that was annoying having to read "blood brothers" like every other sentence. But it was good.

'Her blood is Gold' is a wonderful take on a subject of which, I, like most women, have given little thought to, except for the occasional dispair.

An extremely fast and uncomplicated read, it is essentially an exploration of various misognist treatments of women and their monthly 'curse', and how we as women can come to accept and love with periods, rather than just live with them.

The crux of the work is the idea that women are in the prime of their creativity during menstruation, and thus should take time off to explore this blessing. It also offers helpful monthly rituals and a divinely liberating ode to bellies. Additionally, there is a brief history of menstruation and its link to the goddess.

I was throughly absorbed in this work, however I have a minor issue with the piece. I found it almost a case of reverse sexism, and wondered to myself, when do men get their time off?

Additionally, I felt it played into the hands of prehistorical greek notions of women as 'fevered' and liable to insane outbursts of emotion.

Perhaps I found that where it did not exist, but regardless, I thoughly enjoyed this informative feminist work.

Physically, Emotionally and Mentally Stimulating.......2003-01-28

A great read for women who are conscious of their bodies and what they are capable of. Also a great read for those beginning on the road to awareness. Women are amazing creatures and it is time we honor ourselves. It is also time we stop whining about what others have done to us and fix what we have enabled to occur.

If you are looking to truly honor the gift of the Goddess and your ability to create life without cursing that gift, this is the book is for you.

A nightmare experience at the hands of a brutal doctor who was giving her an internal exam sent Lara Owen off on this fascinating exploration into the rich underworld of the female body. It's a well-written, passionate and thoughtful plea for a return to body-consciousness and acceptance of what it is to be female. The case studies are inspiring, the ideas for self-healing and developing the creativity inherent at this time of the month very intriguing. There is no strident hectoring - Lara Owen writes from the heart - or should I say the womb - and has made a pioneering track for all women, whether interested in enjoying rather than enduring their periods, or the hidden depths of the female psyche. Men who want to understand women should read it too! If you read one book this year, let it be this one!

Important Reading for All Women.......2000-06-05

I was thrilled to discover Lara Owen's book, Honoring Menstruation. I myself have been exploring my menstrual process in-depth since 1988, and teach workshops to women who want to transform menstrual symptoms into menstrual empowerment and pleasure. I say these things about myself to indicate that I am reviewing this book from a particular vantage point, that of a woman who has been honoring her period for many years.

I found that Lara put into words many things that I've been thinking for years, and also introduced me to new ways of thinking about and responding to my menstrual cycle. This is a wonderful book for any woman who wants to become more empowered, more herself, more creative, more joyful.

Mothers, grandmothers, and aunts will also find it useful for helping them introduce young women into a menstruation-positive view of their upcoming or just-started periods.

I know that if you take the time to read this book and apply its wisdom in your own life, you will not regret it.

A book to whet one's appetite for the whole series........2006-11-03

Having enjoyed the mountain man series and the last gunfighter series I came across this book first in the library: it certainly whetted my appetite to go on and read the whole series. Sam and Matt are involved in a classic situation between sheepmen and cattlemen and, as is their wont, come in on the side of the underdogs even though they are cattle men themselves.

Excellent historical adventure.......2006-01-05

"Blood Gold" is a fast-paced adventure story set during the California gold rush. Author Michael Cadnum does an excellent job of bringing to life the physical hardships faced by those traveling west, while maintaining a fast-paced and suspensful plot line that holds the reader's interest.

We follow the young William Dwinelle, whose unusual quest does not take him west searching for gold but rather seeking to avenge the honor of a young lady from back home in Philadelphia. His journey leads him to discover not only the virtually lawless world of the gold-seekers, but also to discover things about himself--that he is capable of overcoming obstacles, able to take care of himself and his friends, and that he is beginning to experience the first sparks of romantic feeling for a young woman he meets during his travels.

I particularly enjoyed the scene where William has convinced himself and the owner of a team of horses that he is fully capable of driving a team across extremely rugged terrain, when in fact he is not as experienced a driver as he represents himself to be. He finds himself plunging, terrified and barely in control of the team, down the backside of a steep hill, with another wagon behind him bearing down and threatening to overtake him.

I highly recommend this book for its historical flavor, its light and yet well-chosen language, and its exciting plot. Well done!
