Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

3 out of 5 stars Historically inaccurate but entertaining.......2007-02-23

I have read and enjoyed all of Julie Garwood's historical romance novels. I did like the characters and the humor in this book, but I couldn't get past the fact that Americans were settling in the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1797. Lewis and Clark set off to explore the Lousianna Purchase in 1804. I wanted to buy into the fantasy but every time I would read something in the journal entries like; "We joined another wagon train..." it would pull me back to reality.

Julie Garwood is the best! All 4 books in this series are fantastic! I started reading her books a couple years ago and I'm always waiting for her next one. The Lion's Lady and ALL of Julie's books have a permanent spot of my "Keeper" shelf!!!

5 out of 5 stars Love it!.......2006-12-07

This was a reread for me. I liked it this time as much, if not more than I did the first time.
It's the start of a series... (the next being Guardian Angel).
Princess Christina is the main topic of gossip with everyone in London. The mysterious Princess is beautiful, warm and friendly. The people of London no virtually nothing about her.
Rumors grow and eventually reach Lyon the Marquis of Lyonwood. Lyon is a somewhat bitter man who has chosen to close himself off from society. While he is physically and financially attractive, he usually scares off potential loves. He likes it that way.
While escorting his sister to a party he hears of the princess. Men are lusting for her and woman want to be her best friend. He can't believe the hype is warranted. Then she walks in to the party. He is blown away by her beauty.
His interest in her starts off as a curiosity. He wants to know where she came from and what she is about. Christina isn't giving any answers.
As they get to know eachother, Lyon's not sure if her answers are truth, but he is determined to get to the bottom of her mysterious past. Christina is just as determined to hide it.
This is a fun romance that is trully beleivable. Both characters are great characters. You really like them from the start. You sympathize with their pasts and admire their strenghts.
Christina is a strong heroine with just the right mix of femininity, independance and vulnerability. She is tough with out being stand offish.
Lyon is a strong leading male with an extraordinary sensitivity and wit. He is smart, handsome, loving and protective. A little arrogant and very worth the read.
Both characters have some issues, Christina more than Lyon. But it is great reading them falling in love while everything comes together.

1 out of 5 stars not julie's best work.......2006-09-28

If you want to read something good from Julie Garwood, try Ransom. This book is not well written and the plot is a mess.

4 out of 5 stars The Lion's Lady.......2006-08-13

This book was pretty amusing. The way the lies just spilled out of Christina's mouth while Lyon pretended to be fooled was quite cute. If only she could remember which lies she had told. I found this book refreshingly different from Garwood's other romances. They were starting to feel a bit cookie cutterish. I liked that Lyon was the vulnerable one who told Christina that he loved her first with no real response. Cute.

Book Description

Love and honor can overcome even the fiercest obstacles, as we see in this spellbinding fairy tale, with shades of "Beauty and the Beast." To save her father, a young woman must go to the castle of a menacing lion. She fears for her life, but finds kindness rather than danger there, for the lion by day is a gentle young man by night-a prince under the spell of a wicked enchantress. Soon the lady and the lion fall in love.

Unlike the more familiar tale, however, this story has only just begun. The prince is not yet safe from the enchantress, and it will take all of the lady's strength and courage, through a seven-year quest, to rescue him. Dazzlingly romantic and visually magnificent, this is a book for the ages-an exhilarating tale of virtue, heroism, and the power of love.

Illustrated by Laurel Long.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Tale!.......2006-08-05

I read a huge pile of fairy tale books in one sitting, and this by far was the best of the lot. (It made me want to watch my copy of Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast) The tale is like Beauty and the Beast, Cupid and Psyche and Jim Henson's "True Prince" all rolled into one.

The illustrations are AMAZING.

The hero and heroine are strong and their love is even stronger, it was just a wonderful story to read and experience through the lovely artwork on the pages.

5 out of 5 stars Magical artwork.......2005-10-17

If you have any appreciation for the artwork of this genre of picture books, then you must buy this book. I have many picture books, and I thought Kraft was the best illustrator, until I saw this book. While Kraft's work is amazing and mysterious, the artwork done by Laurel Long completely blows my mind. I've never been in such awe looking at pages from a picture book. It amazes me how someone can produce this art. The detail all over the page is amazing. The whole set up with this rolling hills background to show many different things in in the distance is incredible. The story itself was interesting, but did not grab me as much as some fairy tales. But much as I love fairy tales, this is my most cherished fairy tale picture book because the artwork is the best. Don't get me wrong, I did like the story, just did not looove it. But no matter, because I am so glad I came acrossed this book due to the art, although I am glad to know the story too. Anyway, after reading this book, I looked up Laurel Long and have bought the other books she's illustrated, and she does not disappoint. Buy this book, and then buy the other two books I highly recommend by her, The Mightiest Heart and The Magic Nesting Doll, and enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars Sumptuous beauty, so so story.......2004-02-08

This book provides an original combination of the separate Beauty and the Beast and East of the Sun, West of the Moon tales. In this story, a lovely young girl marries a prince trapped, during the day, in the body of a lion. When an enchantment forces him to fly away from his beloved in the body of a dove, she sets out to find her lover once more.

Initially, I was going to begin this review with a small rant. Despite the fact that the characters in this book wear clothing, and live in palaces, of Indian or Eastern design, the people themselves are white white white. Why? Couldn't we have Grimm-like tale containing something other than the standard Caucasian skin tone? So there we go. That's my only complaint.

Onwards to my point. The illustrations in this book are a step above breathtaking. The pictures drawn by Laurel Long are so beautiful that every tiny centimeter is filled with the most delicate linework and livid colors imaginable. From the folds of the young lady's dresses to the iridescent clouds surrounding the moon at night this book is fabulously beautiful. The story itself isn't anything you haven't heard before. But even a mediocre story can be made vastly more interesting when the pictures are spectacular.

5 out of 5 stars AN AMAZING BOOK FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS!!!.......2004-01-31

An amazing story about a lady and a lion falling in love. Everyone should have a chance to read this book. This is a story that is like Beauty And The Beast and Cinderella combined. This book is one of the best books I have ever read, because the pictures can tell the whole story if you didn't have the words. This is a good book to read alone because it is good to see the details in the pictures up close. This book should have won the Caldecott Medal for 2004, but it didn't.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A heart-rending and adventurous tale.......2006-09-04

Isabel meets the hero of her dreams, Griffin of Droghallow, when she is just eight years old. He rescues her from a boar after she gets lost in the woods chasing a butterfly. Their meeting is brief but makes a profound impact that stays with Isabel throughout her life. Ten years later they meet again under ugly circumstances. By order of King Richard, Isabel is betrothed to Sebastian of Montborne and is on her way to his castle. The current lord of Droghallow, Dominic, orders Griffin, captain of his guards, to kidnap Isabel and bring her to Droghallow. He and his knights are successful in retrieving Isabel but Griffin is perplexed to learn of Dominic's plans for Isabel. In the thick of darkness, Griffin escapes Droghallow with Isabel in tow. He intends to deliver Isabel to Montborne with the hope that its lord will reward him handsomely for delivering her safely to him.

When Dominic finds out of Griffin's betrayal, he is enraged. He and Prince John, post a fortune as reward for Griffin's capture and Isabel's safe return. Griffin and Isabel's journey is fraught with danger as they try to evade Dominic's men and Prince John's soldiers. But as they get closer to Montborne, Griffin begins to wonder if he'll have the strength to give up Isabel.

I thought this was a stunning tale but then I'm partial to love stories where the hero and heroine stand together to confront overwhelming forces that threaten to tear them apart. Isabel and Griffin are strong characters; courageous and devoted to each other although they won't openly admit their feelings. The storyline is solid with twisty subplots that keep you guessing on how the ending will unfold. The suspense builds and builds until it climaxes at the very end when Griffin confronts Dominic of his treachery. It's well written and the story really lacks for nothing. I can honestly say you will find this an enjoyable read.

Another great book by Ms St John.
Another fast moving , heart warming, brilliant tale of a lost Hero in need of a woman to bring him back to his humanity, with a unique twist as expected in a book penned by Ms St. John. (Please read synopsis on Product review page)
The story flows excellently from when the protagonists were children and develops into a tale of mature adults falling in love with enough history of the medieval genre.
Refreshing!! This is a book you would need to clear your day for because it grips you from page one until the very end. You definitely get your money's worth out of this one.

3 out of 5 stars A bit disapointing!.......2003-10-08

I bought this book on the strength of Amazon.com's readers & reviewers (all Five or Four stars with the exception of one Three star) and I must say, I was let down. I found that the characters and/or the plot had nothing new to say; were in fact drawn as rather ordinary stock-romance-novel figures, (particularly the evil Dom, although I appreciated Ms. St. John's attempt to give him depth by flashing back to the episode of his father killing the puppy). The praise given for the character of Isabel was way out of league -- frankly I thought she was a bit dull for a heroine. I thought the attraction between the hero & heroine felt rushed; there was no sexual tension. I agree with the 3-star reviewer who said this is a good read -- it IS; but it just isn't superlative, 5-star writing like the other reviewers said it was, and certainly no keeper for me.

5 out of 5 stars Exciting medieval romance!.......2003-06-20

Prepare yourself for an exciting medieval romance you will not want to put down.

WHITE LION'S LADY is the 1st in a 2 part series.

Eighteen year old Isabel de Lamere, ward to the Crown, is on her way to her betrothed, Sebastian Montborne (who you will read about in BLACK LION'S BRIDE). On her way to the Montborne's she is abducted by Griffin, the White Lion. She does not realize at first that this is the man who she met first as a boy, the boy whose medallion she carries everywhere she goes. The boy she remembers represents honor and chivalry.

Unfortunately Griffin has become a hardened man, made to carry out tasks that are distasteful and each day wear at his soul. His evil step-brother now sets him out on the task of kidnapping Isabel. Upon returning Isabel to his step-brother, and being denied the bounty promised him, Griffin and Isabel escape and continue on to her betrothed. During this time, they fall into a forbidden love.

Tina St. John weaves an enchanting tale of love, acceptance, and high adventure. The chemistry between these two characters sizzles, and it is a delightful read that you won't want to miss.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible!!! Everyone should read this book..........2003-05-18

What a smart, sexy, heart-warming story! I *loved* these characters! From the first page, Isabel and Griffin were so real and multi-dimensional. The heroine is strong, steady, and endearing. The hero is a knight with a tortured soul. He's lost his way in life, but "Izzy" has the strength to save him, and when he starts coming around, letting his true heroic side show, he is just adorable--so protective of her and willing to sacrifice everything for her. (I guess the reviewer below just didn't pick up on the nuances, but after all, Tina St. John is not a simplistic writer.) I am VERY picky and I could not put this book down.

Tina St. John has a silky-smooth writing style that makes you feel like you're there in the medieval landscape she creates, and you never know which way the plot is going to twist and turn. I was also impressed with the very believable situation she sets up which is grounded in real history. If you love top-notch romance, you need to read this book!

St. John has a true romantic's insight into the mysteries of love. Plus, few authors can balance fast-paced adventure with such deep, poignant emotion, but St. John pulls it off flawlessly. Her books are an auto-buy!

I can't wait to read Black Lion's Bride, the companion novel to this book...

4 out of 5 stars Clan vs. Clan with a twist of romance..........2001-11-26

Rowena McBean is a character that you will find yourself cheering onward as she protects her son from the evil side of her clan. After her husband is killed under suspicious circumstances, she embarks on a do-or-die mission to ensure her young son is raised as a future clan leader should be....all the while fending off passionate advances from the alpha males in the nearby clans.

5 out of 5 stars Suzanne is in a class of her own!.......2000-01-02

This book is so awsome, I did'nt want it to end. Once you start you can not put it down. It feels like you've been warped back in time to a heart pounding, beautiful, excitng place you wont want to leave. I've read plenty of romance novels this ranks in my top five! I would like to read other of Barclay's novels although they are very hard to find.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Captivating ..right from the start!!.......1999-04-14

This book is so fabulous. I could not put it down. The beginng of
the book leaves you feeling Rowena's heartbreak over Lion Sutherlands
disappearance. She weds another man, who knows she is carrying Lions
child. There is a great upheaval of the clans and Rowena is bound to
protect her husbands clan, the Gunns, and her son, Paddy, is to be the
heir. Lion returns home and meets Rowena again, the same sparks fly
between them. After much battling and intrigue, Lion meets Paddy and
realizes that Paddy is really his son. Rowena is a strong, beautiful,
passionate lady and Lion is a strong, handsome [and] courageous....I
have read this book 3 times and want to read her previous books in the
Sutherland series, but I can't find them.

5 out of 5 stars This book was impossible to put down!!.......1999-03-08

Rowena's character is incredible, she is strong-willed and determined. As you read, you find yourself being pulled into the story so vividly that reality is a far-off land.

5 out of 5 stars Great story, with a hero who is not only strong, but kind.......1998-10-10

....Short version in English: Scotland in
1390. Rowena was left alone by her young lover as a girl and had to
find a husband who would raise her lovechild as his own. Later as a
widow she has to protect her son in a time of political turbulence,
and meets her lover Lionel again. He has never stopped loving her, and
while he is fighting to prevent a war in Scotland, he wants to win
back her heart. But the odds are against him, in every way. GREAT
    STUFF.

    Inhalt

    aufzuziehen.

Sechs Jahre später herrscht Krisenstimmung im
schottischen Hochland. Der Bruder des Königs, Alexander Stewart, Earl
of Buchan (auch der Wolf von Badenoch genannt), will die wilden Clans
befrieden und unter sich vereinen. Clan Sutherland weiss, dass
Alexander in Wirklichkeit seinen Bruder entthronen will, doch dafür
