Not "Just Friends".......2007-10-05
My husband had an affair with a co-worker for about a year and I just found out on July 1st of this year. The devastation felt was overwhelming and you cannot think straight nor understand the why of the entire thing. This book gave me a road map to understanding my husbands actions and weakness since we have been married for 30 yrs and he never did anything like this before. We had a happy and relatively good marriage so that made it more difficult to understand. It has helped both my husband and I to overcome the guilt, shame, anger and hurt that a betrayal of this type brings to a so called "Happily Married Couple." We are on the road to recovery and are closer and more intimate than we have been in years.
I hightly recommend this book to anyone who has been unfaithful or has been betrayed.

This book literally has saved our marriage. i read it and resumed some dignity from what I read, and my husband read it and is aware of the mistakes he has made and not even aware of it. Excellent book to read, before you decide to walk out that door.

I appreciate this book so much. Shirley Glass sure knows her stuff. I went through a nightmare of grief, feeling like my whole world had shattered this summer when I found out that my husband had been keeping secrets, having numerous emotional affairs during the past few years and a porn obsession. After giving his emotional energy to others and his sexual energy to porn, he had absolutely nothing left over for me, and our marriage of 26 years nearly ended. I no longer felt safe in the relationship and felt like I was going crazy. We're trying to get our relationship back on track and this book has been very educational and helpful in understanding infidelity, why affairs happen, how to prevent them from happening, and what to expect afterward. It was reassuring to know that I wasn't crazy--that the whirlwind of grief, anger, and other volatile emotions I was feeling was normal in the aftermath of such a betrayal. There is also a section on healing that I've found very helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has suffered from an unfaithful spouse.

This is an excellent read for a person who has experienced a heart-breaking end to a relationship. Most of what is written is common sense but too often common sense flys out the window when a person is involved in a highly-charged, emotional break-up. I believe the book would benefit both men and women but I think it will draw its largest readership from women.
Stability, Hope and Self-Love When Your Mind is Spinning .......2007-06-18
I am a very private person, even in my pain. However, the help this book provided me in the time of my crisis was irreplaceable and as I feel there may be others who are experiencing what I experienced or have gone through the pain of either emotional or sexual infidelity with their partners, my need to praise and review this book went beyond me and my need for privacy in order to possibly help someone else. From cover to cover it was as if Dr. Glass was reading my mind, the mind of my spouse, had already anticipated his and my actions and was uncovering the layers of the betrayal partner with precision, which as I unearthed more information, shined clear through like an xtray into her character and actions. This book helped me to calm my mind and spirit and understand the many angles that are created to birth the possibility of an affair into existence. My husband and I suffered some set backs, mostly related to the aspect of "lies of omission" and/or our being separated for four months, but Dr. Glass' book was with me and later us(he later agreed to read the book) each step with timely precision. Although it has been over three years since the disclosure of my spouse's emotionally intimate betrayal, which itself lasted for almost three years, I still find solice in Dr. Glass' work when "triggered" by certain reminders or behavior in myself or from my husband. She was a definite godsend to me at a time I thought my implicit trust was my own undoing. I literally cried when I found out she had passed. I felt her work blessed me that much. After 15 years of marriage, both I and my husband attempt to be vigilent in using many of the ideas and suggestions Dr. Glass puts forth in her book to maintain proper "windows" and "walls" with regards to our opposite sex relationships/friendships. Yes, it takes time to heal, learn to love your partner again and refocus on your relationship/marriage if it is truly what you want. I would also recommend this book as a gift to newly married couples or those embarking on an agreed long-term committed relationship. Lastly, as I recently learned the betrayal partner in my saga married just this year, I can only say that I hope if by chance she reads this, she has grown with integrity and has come to understand what it will take to keep her marriage safe, close and loving. shallow...seems like typical drama.......2007-07-25
i tried to like the main character but i just couldn't relate or understand her...she was just so needy and i felt no sympathy for her OR understanding. she was confusing and just straight up annoying. i like the "just friends" plot thing so i continued reading, hoping there would be at least some character development or something but none. i also thought the main guy was way too easy..when he slept with her stepsister it was just an automatic turn off for me. and i already disliked the fact about the way he treats candace (?), his student.. the book seems shallow enough. i don't like the author's style of writing but it did have a few funny parts that made me laugh out loud but i guess the failure of the book for me is simply because i don't like the two main characters even though they were funny and the book just isn't deep enough. plus the dialogue in the book was lame. it's like the author tried too hard for it to be the type of chic romance/comedy type of book you know... this might sound stupid but i also didn't like how the author described some people ...like, for example "black lady" or "black kids" and then describe others as "italian" "german" and all that. =/ well it just got on my nerves. but yeah. if the sleeping around thing then go ahead and read this book because you'll probably like it.

I wouldn't consider this novel a "chick lit" genre piece. It's more grown-up than that and more realistic. I loved this book! Sadly, Sisman's other two books I read were not nearly as delightful. Freya, the main character is intelligent and strong. Jack, the man in this piece is amusing and believable. This is one of my favorite books, I truly enjoyed reading it!
A LAUGH OUT BOOK WITH SOME SPICY ROMANCE.......2006-06-13
This book about freya and her long time friend jack. freya likes to make herself needed so guys go for her and jack is an all lady man who goes for young girls and leaves them if things get out of hand. freya is just coming out of a friendship and goes to jack club and loses money and gets drunk and pass out. jack takes her in when she has nowhere to go but her pride hits in and tell him that she will pay to stay in his apartment. they get in each other nerves and they play tricks on each other. just as their getting along freya is invited to her half sister wedding and has to take someonw with her. jack agrees to go with her and thats when things get really heated up between both of them.........if you want to laugh at loud you have to read this.

Immature... smug... arrogant yet insecure. It's really hard to sympathize with a character who is so completely self-absorbed, bitter and judgemental. What were her redeeming qualities?
It sounds like I'm alone in this, but I found it hard to relate to her -- it really seemed that she was unloved throughout most of the story because she was ... unlovable.
Love is Blind..........2005-09-25
Both Jack & Freya have know each other for 10 years. They are on very good terms with each other, familiar with each other's likes, dislikes & quirkiness. Complete opposites of one another in personality & character, the woman: an ice maiden, the guy: everybody's favorite pal. There is muted mutual respect for one another's inner strengths but never verbalized to one another in the course of their friendship.
Circumstances push them to live in very close proximity when they move over to Cornwall, England for a short visit. Their perception of one another changes. They become convincing teasing lovers in pretense and shyly hesitant lovers in reality in the "is it or isn't it love mood?" when they start re-discovering one another.
Their long friendship cast a heavy shadow on coming to terms dealing with their latent intimate feelings for one another, again not verbalized, eventually leading to mistrust and misunderstanding.
Again, the prennial theme of the path of true love never runs smooth. The readers would be suspended in twists and plots before they discover whether true love is indeed blind revolving around Jack & Freya.
I disagreed with those reviewers that the ending is abrupt. After having read thru 300+ pages with all the characters flaws exposed and their redeeming qualities highlighted, the ending is the resolution and needs no further exploration. The ending is expertly crafted to be subtle, riding on the strong tones of reconciliation towards last 2 to 3 chapters of the book.
In this age of easy communication with cell phones & email etc, the author has deliberately portrayed her protagonists to be clueless to cellphones!! The book must have been written probably around 1999 & published in 2000. Cell phones were widely used by then. Otherwise, the plot could have not been so complicated towards the last section of the book.
It is stated by Publishers Weekly, see above, that Warner Brothers has bought the film rights for it. It's a pity that it is still lying dormant as no TV movie or cinema movie has been made yet to date. Only one of Robyn Sisman's books, "Perfect Strangers" has been made into a TV movie. I thought "Just Friends" would provide the ideal move from book to movie what with the lively conversations, social life, the hustle & bustle of NYC contrasting with dramatic landscapes of Cornwall in England and the rugged countryside of North Carolina's High Country. I hope some director get to it soon, cos its worth it seeing it in film!!

I'm only about halfway through this book, so I'll admit my review may be a little biased at this point. But this book, so far, isn't all everyones's cracking it up to be. Granted it will keep you reading, but the characters seem underveloped. Fancy is a mess, Desmond doesn't make any sense at all. But SaVoy is the one that confuses me the most. Why does she come off like a 14 year old rather than a grown woman? (How are old these characters supposed to be anyway?)Furthermore, she's supposed to be the devout Christian and church girl out of the three girlfriends, but she seems more confused about religion and her celibacy than not. I guess maybe I should've read the previous novels because this one lost me. I would suggest picking this one up from the library if you haven't read and loved the others first.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The character of Fancy reminded me a bit like Winter ( The Coldest Winter Ever). Young women like Fancy never wake up until their bad karma comes back to them. I liked that Savoy was saving herself, however I took issue of what she was saving. With Tyrone, she did everything but let Tyrone proceed with the act of intercourse. I feel if you want to stay a virgin until you get married , save everything ( being naked, performing oral sex and having it performed on you) until you are married. Savoy towed the line a bit too much for my taste. Now I must go read the other two books before He's Just a Friend!

I have just started reading this book. I picked it up because I wanted to read the books in sequence. I have never been so enthralled in a series of books as I have this one. Very good work. I also enjoy the brief synopsis of each of the preceding books, you know, just to bring you up-to-speed before you read the next installment.

I have never read any of Mary Morrison's books- this was my first (yes, I made the ultimate mistake). Slow at the beginning but has a very fast and powerful ending and brings forth a strong message on love and sex. I know a lot of Fancys, Tanyas and Savoys in my life and it made the book even more interesting.
I am definately getting the rest of the books in the series- and am hoping they all carry the same compelling messages-

We bought this book (and most of the Little Critter books) to help us discuss what's going on in our child's life. When problems arose with what it means to be a good friend, we were making little to no headway until we read this book together. Somehow it's easier to understand when it's a favorite book character having the problem and not you.

Just My Friend And Me was a great book. It told you how you would play with your friend when he/she came over. It showed how to help your friend when he/she gets hurt. In someways once you have a friend come over you can't wait for them to leave so you can be a lone and do stuff you want to do and not have someone else want to do something different. Well, I hope this gives you a good idea of what this book is about. I hope all of the little children will enjoy this book. I know I did.

Love this book - title should be changed however!!.......2006-11-13
There are two things wrong with this fine book: it's hardcover and thus, may come across as merely a 'coffee table book' with less text value. Not true! Secondly, the title perhaps suggests a book that is all 'sing song' and full of mushy cat ramblings. Completely false! 'Cats Have No Masters...Just Friends' should be titled something like, 'How to Have an AWESOME Relationship with your Cat.' There is no possible way that one could read this book and not substantially (if not radically) improve life with a cat. So much is covered in this book that is truly original - from Ms. Anderson's section on the (often overlooked) differences between cats and dogs, to dispelling cat myths, to the very detailed, practical, fun chapters on exactly how to treat your cat to bring out the best in feline-human friendship, this well-written book is an absolute MUST HAVE for any person with a cat. First time cat owners should read this book before getting a cat. Long time cat owners will smile and learn from the wisdom and humor on these pages. By the way, there are wonderful color photographs on each page, perfectly illustrating the lively text. This book is a gem. Treat yourself, treat a friend, don't miss this one!!

This book takes a while to get into - you must be patient and learn about each character individually. This is the first in a series so I got just a taste obviously and I was disappointed that I really didn't get to dive into the story line further. I do hope the next one will be easier to identify with earlier. I am a fan of Christian fiction, but this is my first book from this author. Overall, good reading.

I just finished reading "A Fall Together", what a great story. Funny how the two sisters reminded me of myself and my sister. I hope one day she will see Christ through my actions. And I have two teenage daughters at home that I'm consistently struggling to keep the doors of communication open too. Jennifer has blended this community and circle of friends into a wonderful story. It would be a great to see a story like this in film one day too. I'll be looking for the next book in the series that is scheduled to be released in Jan 2007.
Refreshing Read.......2006-08-14
Though I don't have much time to read, I made time to read this book! Ms. O'Neill out did herself on this one, addressing life issues in a sometimes humorous always honesty manner. Her characters are real, her writing style is unique and her book is well worth the read. I highly recommend it!

"A Fall Together" is a wonderful story of the importance faith, family, and friendship in the struggles of life, written with all the passion that Jennifer O'Neill always writes with. I found myself constantly drawn back to the story until I finished the book, and now I am anxiously waiting for the next part of the story in the next book. As one who works with single again adults I found the struggles of Lauren, Irene and their children realistic and true to life. This is a great book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a great story.

Jennifer O'Neill has done it yet again. We loved her other books and this one is incredible. It is filled with Danielle Steele characters and has a touch of Desperate Housewives. Jennifer, this book would make a wonderful mini-series for TV or even a series of videos that people can purchase. Your heart felt cry is heard in this book and that is what makes this book a must read. We were able to read the entire book and not want to put it down - each problem the characters faced seem real, the characters have depth and the story makes the reader get drawn into their world and their situations. You feel for the characters and it makes you cry. Thanks for having the heart of compassion and a desire to help people deal with situations. We hope you will continue writing more good books and you know we will be telling others about this wonderful book. Hope to see it on a best sellers list.

Waller's essays are well researched and full of delicious philosophy and prose. Contains some of the same essays in "Old Songs in a New Cafe." Even his stories about the environment are filled with prose and magic thoughts.

Winter of Wonders is such an intriguing sequel to A Fall Together in the Cirlcle of Friends Series. A real cliffhanger, too. Jennifer O'Neill has the ability to take you right where her characters are emotionally. There were times when I would have a tear streaming down my cheek from the passion of her words. If you want a great read, buy a Winter of Wonders! It won't dissapoint you ...
