Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Can you cry in a good way?!!!.......2007-08-08
Just give up right now and fetch the box of tissues. This one is a five-star hanky read. The hero is Hank Coulter - another of those heart-attack Coulter boys who should be illegal. Anyways, Hank gets totally blind drunk one night, whupping it up at the local bar. He manages to have blind-drunk unprotected sex with a blonde virginal stranger called Charlie in the back seat of his car, right before he passes out. The morning after is pretty horrendous for him, as he's really not a bad boy at heart (as we know). So, feeling guilty, he goes looking for Charlie. Only she's really called Carly, and that one night has rocked her world. Carly's been blind from birth until a recent operation has restored her sight. She can't believe she was seduced by Hank's sweet talk and, humiliated, she never wants to see him again. When she discovers she's pregnant, however, her condition begins to reverse itself, slowly turning her blind again. That's when Hank finds her: pregnant, going blind, and facing a real financial crisis. In true hero form he goes totally protective and bullies her into marrying him. She's as beautiful and sweet as he remembers, and he begins to fall in love. But she can't stand him, can't trust him, won't have anything to do with him, and demands a no-sex marriage. All of which he deserves. Gosh, the tears will start again if we have to tell you any more! Reading how Hank convinces Carly that one horrible moment can lead to a lifetime of joy is pure, beautiful emotion (sob)...
Blue Skies.......2007-05-06
Very nicely written book, which I thoughly enjoyed. I just finished reading it and am looking forward to reading more of the Coulter family.
The first 100 pages are terrible.......2006-09-01
I bought this book based on the 4 star rating I saw here. After reading 50 pages, I set it down and went back to the computer to see if I had been looking at the correct rating.
The beginning of the book is filled with stilted dialogue, boring detail about the heroine's medical condition, even minutae about medical insurance coverage. It does pick up after the first 100 pages, although I found myself skimming sections that were boring later on.
It reads like a 250 page book stretched to 400 pages.
Definitely no page turner..........2006-04-26
I have to agree with C. Everett's review on this one and I see we're definitely not the majority. Unlike her, I did manage to finish it-how I don't know-it was a struggle to keep turning the pages. Carly was naive, immature and cold and grinded me from the very beginning and Hank, trying to be an honorable guy, instead turned into a shmuck. I found it hard to believe that mere days after sleeping with him, she knew she was pregnant. She was a real dink to Hank for what happened in the truck and wouldn't accept her own responsibility until the book was nearly finished. He spends most of the book blaming himself for what happens to her and she spends just as much time blaming him. However, Anderson is a good author and she has written some great books. This just wasn't one of them.
the lifetime channel in a book .......2005-04-01
Carly's a 28 year old virgin who's been blind all her life until about 2 weeks ago. Now she sits eyes wide open and sight restored in a smoke filled honkey-tonk bar. Her best friend leaves her alone for awhile and she meets an attractive cowboy named Hank.. about an hour later Carly's in the back seat of Hank's truck losing her virginity. Carly finds out she's pregnant a few days later and also discovers that the pregnancy may cause her to lose her eyesight again.. Carly wants to keep the baby but wants nothing to do with Hank..nevertheless about a week later she's ready to marry him for financial/medical/educational reasons. blah blah blah we all know whats coming next.. There are no surprises in this book at all.. I need not go on .. and truth be told.. 145 pages into this book and I need not read on.. I see other people on here really liked this book, my sister was one of them. I'm not sure which would be worse.. this book? or a made-for-tv-movie with the same moronic plot
Book Description
METEOROLOGY TODAY has for many years been one of the most widely used and authoritative texts for the introductory meteorology course. Each edition is extensively reviewed by leading researchers in the field to ensure that the text remains completely up-to-date and reflects today's current understanding of meteorological concepts. Author Donald Ahrens has been widely praised for his ability to explain relatively complicated ideas so that even under-prepared students can understand them. The text's clear and inviting presentation is supplemented by numerous pedagogical features that help augment students' understanding. Introductory stories found at the beginning of each chapter draws students naturally into the discussion. In-chapter reviews then help students to consolidate their understanding as they read, while four types of end-of-chapter exercises provide opportunities for everything from further review to in-class discussion questions. Graphics are carefully designed and subsequently refined so that the key ideas clearly emerge. Many of the photos in the book are taken by the author and provide unmatched images of dramatic weather phenomena. A unique and popular feature over this title's seven editions has been the foldout cloud chart at the back of the book. A wealth of online resources accompanies METEOROLOGY TODAY, Seventh Edition, allowing professors to integrate striking and illuminative interactive weather exercises into their course. Many of the exercises on the BLUE SKIES CD-ROM packaged FREE with each new copy of the text are tied to downloadable real-time weather data, offering instructors an easy way to bring the exploration of current weather events into the course discussion.
Customer Reviews:
Great Intro text book.......2006-06-01
One of the best introduction to metrology I have read. Great for any anyone that is interested in the weather. Gives more information then average books that are found at local book stores. Also the on line tests help you know what you have learned.
Great Book.......2005-02-24
This is a great book. It was expensive (aren't all college textbooks?), but worth it.
As a beginning weather hobbyist with a new weather station, I have been looking at many weather books over the past couple months. I have been disappointed. Most seem geared to elementary school levels. A couple handfuls are for the general population, a few intermediate, and a couple handfuls are for more advanced hobbyists or professionals.
This book was one of the very few that I would strongly recommend. The information is great and presented very well. It is colorful and slick (yes, substance is more important than slickness, but this book has both).
I found the CD less than useful, so I tried it and removed it. You won't be missing anything, really. The book has it all. Just a great book.
Disappointing extras.......2005-01-18
For a meteorology reference tool, save money and buy the book used without the CD or infotrac. The blueskies CD is only good for one year from activiation according to the license agreement and infotrac is a 4 month subscription to online databases that are largely available for free at the public library.
Awesome.......2004-06-08
I am enrolled in a Meteorology course right now. I bought this book sometime ago to get ready for the coursework in Meteorology. I had read a bunch of books prior to this one and I found this book to be well written. Easy to understand and great illustrations make it easy for anyone to understand it. May be a bit too basic for some. If you need to know more about Meteorology and want to know more than the average Joe...then buy this book....you won't regret it. I love it!
Fairly good introduction to the subject of meteorology.......2001-01-02
This text is a very basic introduction to the world of meteorology. The writing style is very simplistic, as the book seems to be intended for non-science majors. There are very few quantitative portions and the few math portions that are there could use a little more expansion. All in all, this book is suitable for anyone who wants an introduction to the weather without having to do numerous calculations.

Great way to get kids excited about reading!.......2006-03-22
My first grader absolutely fell in love with the Rainbow Fairy series and is now onto the Weather Fairies. Lovely, light stories, they feature young girls (just like her) trying to save fairies and their magical world. These are perfect books for readers beginning chapter books.
Book Description
Atack exposes Hubbard's bizarre imagination and behavior, tracing the creation of Scientology in the years following World War II to perhaps its final schism following Hubbard's death in 1986. A shocking book that reveals all: the abuses, falsehoods, paranoia, and greed of Hubbard and his pseudo-military Scientologist henchmen.
Customer Reviews:
my personal experience.......2007-09-18
I have been a Scientologist for many years now. I have had parts of this book read to me by "concerned" relatives. Even if the thing this book brings up are true, which I have yet to be able to confirm any, I don't see the searing hatred justified. For example, the news about the GO's office having problems within it and Hubbard's ex-wife being in that office. So what? My life is far better off from Hubbard's works. What about the claim that people experienced in Scientology have gone through confessionals and are warning people that the point of the confessionals is to bribe people. Honestly, how could someone go through rigorous confessionals and publically issue crazy warnings like that? It doesn't make sense if you think about it. I could walk away from any or all of it any time I wish. True statement. I would not trade the wins I have had from Scientology for anything. True statement.
EXPOSING SCIENTOLOGY.......2007-08-11
While I haven't read this particular book, I have read the reviews and one, at least, mentioned how the Scientologists have tried to "erradicate" this book. I'm wondering if that is what is happening with the book I have ordered, "Escaping Scientology". It was to have been published this past April but now the publication date has been delayed until December, 2007.
I live in Clearwater, Florida, and for those who don't know, Clearwater is the headquarter for Scientology. They are all over downtown and have bought up several properties in order to expand. If I had my way, they would all be run out of not only Clearwater but all of Florida-better, yet, the entire country.
A Piece of Blue Sky: Scientology, Dianectics and L Ron Hubbard.......2007-08-08
Al principio es interesante, luego, en los ultimos capitulos, se repite mucho lo dicho en capitulos anteriores.
At the beginning is ok, but the other chapter repeat a lot the same that the first's chapter.
Atacking Scientology.......2007-05-19
Like the other reviewers who are *not* Scientologists (everyone giving this valuable book the 4 or 5 stars it deserves), I think the intellectual calibre of Scientologists themselves is showcased in their (one-star) reviews here. My sister recently married a Scientologist--with no clue and no research into the cult, and without heeding my many warnings to at least see what she was getting involved with. The only book that does a better job of explicating the cult is the now lamentably out-of-print Cults of Unreason. I'm working on (at least) an article on L. Ron Hubbard's creations (Dianetics, which developed into Scientology), and I *have* read several of Hubbard's own works. I highly recommend Scientology: A History of Man (buy it used and cheap) as one of the most unintentionally hilarious works of bad fiction ever written.
Ultimately, Scientology is just a spin-off from psychoanalysis--which has its own problems. Anyone who really would like some mental health should also check out Adolf Grunbaum's The Foundations of Psychoanalysis and Frederick Crews's Follies of the Wise.
Eye Opening.......2007-04-13
This was a very interesting book. Someone in my life was (maybe still is) involved in [...] and that's what piqued my interest in the subject. I love the Scientologists reviewing this book here. Are there grammar and spelling lessons in Dianetics? Just wondering.
Self-help? Fine. Charging money for the service? By all means! I love capitalism. But don't call it a religion. The book was a bit slow in spots, but very eye-opening.

Book Description
In his classic study The Masks of God, Joseph Campbell conducted us on a fascinating global tour, showing how the seeds of myth grew in a similar fashion throughout the history of civilization. Before Campbell there was Sir James George Frazier who, in The Golden Bough--his pioneering study of magic, relgion, and folk custom--demonstrated how world mythologies exhibit "the effect of similar causes acting alike on the similar constitution of the human mind in different countries and under different skies." Now, in Beyond the Blue Horizon, eminent astronomer E.C. Krupp guides us expertly through a bewildering maze of cultures and civilizations--from the stone age to the present day--making clear that while the skies of these diverse peoples may vary, they speak nearly the same language. Beyond the Blue Horizon is a treasure trove of myths, legends, and stories in which people have, through the ages, attempted to understand the cosmos and its meaning for humankind. Collecting an astonishing amount of lore between the covers of a single book, Krupp explains why our ancestors were so intrigued by the heavens, and what their celestial stories meant. Readers will learn, for example, that many cultures saw a rabbit--rather than a man--in the moon, and that this moon-rabbit, as a symbol of sacrifice and rebirth, is a cousin of our own Easter Bunny; that to our ancestors, an eclipse challenged the stability and integrity of heaven and thus threatened order and life on earth; that the magical sleighride and chimney antics of Santa Claus echo the ancient journeys of shamans and witch doctors; that our "dog days" of July and August originated in Roman times with the summer appearance of Sirius, the Dog Star; and that the contemporary stories of UFOs reveal the mystery and meaning the sky still holds for us as we approach the twenty-first century. Of course, there is much, much more that will delight and intrigue; even readers familiar with world mythology will find plenty that is new and strange in Krupp's rich panorama. An epic, authoritative, and cross-cultural exploration with over 150 illustrations, Beyond the Blue Horizon tells how all civilizations searched the sky to understand to universe--and our own place in it.

Extensive.......2002-07-07
Krupp has written a book that is comparable to Frazer's Golden Bough and Campbell's Hero With a Thousand Faces. He traces the evolution of sky myths from cultures around the globe. Krupp does an excellent job of capturing the meaning and beauty of these stories, and pieces them together in a well-crafted narrative.
Really Facinating Book..........2000-03-28
Beyond the Blue Horizon: Myths and Legends of the Sun, Moon, Stars, and Planets, is a very interesting and amazing read-- it confronts many possibilities of the place outside our blue sky, and gives the reader something to think about for long after the last page is read. Not only is this book worth reading for the pure fun of it, but it teachs you things that may come in handy at dinner table conversation. Facinating is the word that comes to mind... the myths about the stars and planets can sometimes be good bedtime stories, and over all, this book keeps you wanting more.

Book Description
Sky Blue and Black explores the mysterious connection between seemingly unrelated events while examining everyday life in the United States in the months before September 11, 2001. Author Robert B. Murdoch weaves strands of historical and fictional events to create a vivid tapestry of American life that depicts issues of chance versus fate, life and death, hope and sorrow, and love and loss.
Told chronologically, Sky Blue and Black portrays the prosaic lives of several families in New Jersey and northeastern Ohio. It traces Al Qaeda terrorist Mohammed Atta's final months in the U.S. as he prepares for the attacks on the World Trade Center, while simultaneously following a serial killer in northeastern Ohio, who stalks and kills one person a month, taking a memento from each body to include in his gruesome scrapbook of death. Among the killer's victims is Chandra Levy, the missing intern whose disappearance is the story of the summer until the horrific attacks on 9/11. Meanwhile, the families live typical suburban American lives, unaware of how the ordinary events of the passing months will connect them in a most extraordinary manner to the tragedy about to unfold on a crisp, blue autumn morning.
A detailed and compelling story of American life, Sky Blue and Black captures the humor, tedium, and hope that make up our everyday existence. As the dramatic events of September 11th unfold, the lives of the various characters finally intersect on that fateful morning-and none of them knows who will live or die.

HIghly recommended, great read even the 2nd and 3rd time.......2007-07-17
The imagery and interesting weave of everyday life to catastrophic events is thought provoking! The author captures a perfect glimpse in to any neighborhood in any city. That's life, slow, steady, filled with lively moments that are special to those involved. Then BANG, along comes this global life changing event and things can never be the same, or can they? Along with that you have a serial killer running around picking people off one at a time with unique habits, one of which still keeps me up at night if I think about it. Enjoyed the book throughly and will read again and again to catch more details.
Well Worth It.......2007-07-03
I found it to be a very fascinating idea to have the book begin months before 9/11 in everyday suburbia. I thoroughly enjoyed the building of the story told on a month-to-month basis. The author has also incorported "headlines" from the news monthly, (through the serial killer character) which I loved. All the characters, including the beloved dogs, have such a connection. It has all the elements of a great page turner!
Great Read!.......2007-05-31
Loved how this book twisted and turned! Following the close knit relationships of good neighbors, and how they are a type of "family" with you. It was so fun how the book went from different families in the neighborhood, then following a serial killer, then a terrorist and pulling in family from New York from one of the neighbors...it all ties together in the last chapter when our whole country feels the pain of September 11. I haven't cried like that while reading a book in a long time...great story...sad ending, but the epilog leaves you with the hope and knowledge that life does go on.
Compelling, hilarious and touching.......2007-05-28
Being from Northeast Ohio, I especially enjoyed Mr. Murdoch's book. He expertly weaves the everyday lives of neighbors and friends together along with Mohammed Atta's preparations for the 9/11 attacks. The book explores the hopes and fears that live in the hearts of everyday Americans, as well as explores the dark side of the human animal. Being the owner of a Dogue de Bordeaux, working with rescue and knowing many dogues, I related, smiled and laughed out loud at the antics of the two dogues in the book, Chaos and Frenzy. This book had a very touching ending that makes you remember 9/11, remember the pain and loss this country suffered at the hands of terrorists on that horrible, long day. This book is a must read as it is a great study of human nature, good and bad. Dogue (or dog) lovers will enjoy the book for the dogue story alone.
Engaging story.......2007-04-08
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The relationships and dynamics of a close-knit Ohio neighborhood are explored while several side stories are developed including one that intricates a terrorist involved in the 9/11 tragedy.
The story starts out a bit slow but once it gets going it is a cannot-put-down-read.

Book Description
At the age of 17, Samuel L. Broadnax--enamored with flying--enlisted and trained as a pilot at the Tuskegee Army Air Base. Although he left the Air Corps at the end of the Second World War, his experiences inspired him to talk with other pilots and black pioneers of aviation. Blue Skies, Black Wings recounts the history of African Americans in the skies from the very beginnings of manned flight. From Charles Wesley Peters, who flew his own plane in 1911, and Eugene Bullard, a black American ace with the French in World War I, to the 1945 Freeman Field mutiny against segregationist policies in the Air Corps, Broadnax paints a vivid picture of the people who fought oppression to make the skies their own.
