Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

In this powerful, mesmerizing, and highly acclaimed bestseller, Pat Conroy sweeps us into the turbulent world of four young men–friends, cadets, and blood brothers–and their days of hazing, heartbreak, pride, betrayal, and, ultimately, humanity.
We go deeply into the heart of the novel’s hero, Will McLean, a rebellious outsider with his own personal code of honor, who is battling into manhood the hard way. Immersed in a poignant love affair with a haunting beauty, Will must boldly confront the terrifying injustice of a corrupt institution as he struggles to expose a mysterious group known as “The Ten.”

A coming of age story in a Southern military academy for boys
Customer Reviews:
Lords of Discipline.......2007-06-08
About half way thru this book and had to set it aside. I'll return to it later as it is a little too intense and the language is shocking.
I thought his books Beach Music and The Prince of Tides were much better. I could not put Beach Music down.
One of Conroy's Best.......2007-01-31
This is a great military/coming of age novel by Pat Conroy that I would put slightly behind The Great Santini (one of my favorite books of all time) in his catalogue. In this story, Conroy follows a young cadet at the fictional Carolina Military Institute (modeled partly on Conroy's time at The Citadel) as he endures his plebe year and then comes to grip with the fact that the school fosters a great deal of hate, racism and cruelty to accomplish its mission of developing the Complete Man. Conroy's writing always moves quickly with engaging dialogue, humor and entertaining story lines and this book is no exception. It is certainly deeper than your standard pop fiction book, but it reads just as easily and quickly. I would highly recommend it to Conroy fans, people who enjoy good fiction (even my mother likes this book) or people who have interest in military schools or the South in the 50's. A very good book.
Duty, Honor, Country.......2006-10-15
The mark of a successful coming of age story is that you, the reader, can see yourself reflected in the protagonist. For me, this book worked very well. Will McLean, the main character and first-person narrator, a second generation Irish boy, son of a Marine, a mongrel outsider in the pedigreed Carolina Military Institute searches for himself, the man within the boy who is being molded by a system of discipline and honor that doesn't match his internal morality. He's an English major in a college of warriors. He's a basketball player, a finesse guard, in a school of brute force. He's fighting against systems he doesn't understand within a life choiceless in it's inequality.
Pat Conroy, himself a graduate of the model for the fictional Institute, The Citadel, weaves a compelling tension-filled story while eloquent in his setting, Charleston, South Carolina. Employing gracious proper Southern dialect filled with flowers, antiques, and tradition, he describes brutality, racism, sexism, and betrayal. The language works well because it provides within its description the biting irony of the scenes. Will McLean fights through every taboo the South has to offer in the 1960's: a black cadet in the all-white tradition of the military college, an unwed pregnant girl shunned by society for her shame while the father of her baby remains blameless, the brutal plebe system that crushes individuality while remaking young men as soulless military automatons, the classed society of high south old money and it's cruelty to those not born within the circle, and the fact that military honor doesn't equate to individual morality.
Fighting through this maze of pitfalls, McLean has only his closest and dearest friends to rely on, roommates Dante "Pig" Pignetti and Mark Santoro, two brawny, Northern boys of Italian descent and Tradd St. Croix, an "old Charlestonian" (from a very rich and respected family). His moral guide through the story is the epitomy of hard military men, Colonel "Bear" Berrineau, a vulgar battle-scarred man whose character is unimpeachable and whose idea of duty includes awful repercussions.
I loved this story and I couldn't put it down. If I had one criticism to give, it's that Conroy tried to put too much into the novel - too many problems and taboos and tried to fix hundreds of years worth of problems in one book. But, that's not really a criticism because he did it and did it well. Bravo.
CV Rick
spectacular.......2006-03-11
Gorgeously crafted, eloquent, beautiful, gripping, powerful. Simply an amazing book. All of Pat Conroy's books have common ties to his childhood, and this one is perhaps the best of them all.
probably the best book I've ever read..........2006-01-17
I LOVE this book and have read it many times. I don't know what drew me to the book initially, but it was a powerful read - a story about growing up, military school, mystery, love story - everything rolled in one. I get something new out of it every time I read it. I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Conroy some years back at a book signing - just the Southern gentleman you'd expect! - he said he is always surprised when women like this book because of the military setting. It is much more than a book about a military school (and the movie version did not do it justice). I highly recommend this book.

Book Description
Designed to facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking patients with little or no knowledge of English and English-speaking medical personnel with little or no knowledge of Spanish, this handy book, a best seller in its first three editions, is now issued in a fourth edition, the first to include pediatric workups. Designed for use in the clinic, the emergency room, the physicians office, and at the patients bedside, ¿Qué Pasó? is also useful for travelers in Spanish-speaking countries. In addition to guides to common phrases, everyday questions, and answers, and essential non-medical terminology and vocabulary, the authors have provided a variety of medical workups on situations ranging from the headache to family planning. The new pediatric material will make this highly praised book even more useful than the earlier editions.

Customer Reviews:
¿Qué pasó? con ¿Qué pasó?.......2000-11-01
I found this pocket sized book useless and full of gramatical mistakes (for example missing accent marks). It was hard to find what I was looking for as well.
Fair.......2000-06-11
The book has a lot of useful phrases for dealing with someone until you get a translator. It could really use a pronunciation guide. It is very basic. It is a little outdated and it does not cover any new medical terminolgy that has been in use since the 1980's. You will not find names for new technological instruments just the basic X ray and such. Also, you will not be able to find out how to ask questions that are problems for today. Example, the book tells you how to ask a parent if the child swallowed gasoline or bleach but not new questions for today like "did your child sniff glue?" However, for the price and for quick reference, the book served its purpose.
Handy.......2000-05-28
Booklet; format and content very good. No pronounciation guide. Accessible, sturdy, easy to handle, space for notes - a bargain.
Excellent, quick guide for health care workers........1998-11-03
I took this book to Bolivia, as a non-Spanish speaking medical missionary. Soon I was conversant, at least in the medical clinic. I am now buying a copy for each doctor on our staff, and an extra copy for the E.R.
Customer Reviews:
Amazing!.......2006-10-20
You need to be either a linguist or an ultra-hard-core fan to appreciate this book. Not being a linguist, some of the technical aspects are beyond me but still, what an amazing work; not only by Salo but by Tolkien. The short section with the "historical" background of Sindarin was fascinating; a nice summary. I had no idea that Tolkien had made his languages so complicated. A fascinating glimpse into Tolkien's mind.
For fifty bucks I should get a dust jacket.......2006-09-12
The book is what I expected it to be, a reference written by someone who has studied some of Tolkien's writings on language, best used in conjunction with other reference materials if used to learn to compose writings in the language of the elves. Other reviews that have bashed the book sound like sour grapes wallowers. Tolkien was the only expert on the languages of Middle Earth and anyone who claims otherwise is suspect.
True Sindarin study.......2006-03-02
This book is NOT for those who simply want to learn phrases and so on. Being a student of linguistics, and having a professor whose work is used as the official linguistic analysis in an area of Papua New Guinea, I can say with honesty that David Salo's work is the real deal. I showed this to my professor, and he was completely impressed (a feat in and of itself).
Reading Gateway is not casual; it takes some concentration. I suppose that, if one just wanted Elvish texts, it could be used. I was quite pleased to find him using the IPA in words, as I had wished for that since first finding Lord of the Rings.
The historical chart of the emergence of Sindarin better explains some of the material in The Silmarillion, and the overall historical prose explanation of the development of the different phases of Elvish was most helpful.
I would definitely recommend this to any Tolkien fans that happen to be linguists as well. A majority of fans would not understand, but it is a fascinating read nonetheless.
Excellent.......2006-02-23
This book is amazing, but be certain that you're the right audience.
This is a college-level textbook, and make no mistake about that. It is a very academic and thoroughly researched treatment of Sindarin. If you're looking for "Conversational Sindarin for Fun and Profit", this book is not it. Only buy it if you really have a deep interest in Tolkien's constructed languages. Having said that, it's worth every penny. I haven't seen this much detailed information on Sindarin anywhere else.
Sindarin Language Help.......2006-02-01
This is a very helpful text for the new student of Sindarin, one of J R R Tolkien's Elvish languages. In addition to grammar lessons, there are English-Sindarin Glossaries and a great history of the language. This is a written language, not generally meant ot be spoken and I am able after two months study to write simple sentences.
The book is hard back and stands up to daily use very well.
Customer Reviews:
We are the Angels by Diane Stein is a tool of immense power.......1999-08-19
If you are serious about changing your life for the better, then get this book. Diane tells you about her experiences working with this group of Beings for healing herself, her loved ones and her clients. She clearly outlines how to heal your physical life by working with the mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. By drawing a map of your nonphysical levels she enables you to focus more clearly on areas of healing that may have been unknown to you before. She teaches you how to connect with your inner selves thus bringing you into wholeness and clarity, but only if you are ready to take the responsibility for your life and your actions. The Lords of Karma are a group of angels ready to assist all who are sincere in their desire to better their lives. And, as each of us takes that responsibility to heart, the world becomes healed one soul at a time.
Practical experience with book........1998-10-17
My channeling class had an extremely unsettling experience following the guidelines in this book. I recommend that this material be used with extreme caution. Who are the "Angels of Karma"? Are they who they claim to be?
A superb tool for those on the spiritual path........1998-03-31
This book of Diane Stein's is written in her usual simple, practical, straightforward and very accessable style. It is a how-to for Karmic clearing, energy balancing, and accessing and merging with our higher selves, in accordance with the energy changes occurring on our Earth now. (she says it much better than I can; her simplicity of style 'covers' a great deal of depth). This book is for those whose belief system can encompass these changes, whether external or internal. If you already enjoy Diane's books, Barbara Brennan, and books outlining the current changes on Gaia, I think you will enjoy this one. Having said that, I find this book very exciting, and I won't be lending it; at least not for some time to come.
Customer Reviews:
Thorough and creative scholarship.......2007-07-05
David Salo's humble attitude regarding his intensely thorough research has produced a work of profound and astounding scholarship. This book is exciting to the point of being breathtaking, for, again, it raises the expectation that Middle Earth was indeed peopled by speakers of i-lambi Eldaron and rich with a living, thriving culture in which the powers of Light finally overcame the forces of darkness. Elvish is aesthetically thrilling, but getting a handle on this tongue, i.e., actually allowing tangible use of Sindarin makes this "linguist" jump for joy. The organization of the book moves the reader through what might easily be one of the most interesting graduate courses in language that any elf-friend has ever taken in higher education. Hannon lle, David Salo!

Absolutely Not For A Starter ..........2001-10-25
I have to agree that this 'manual' is MOST definitely NOT for a beginner or for someone who still has to figure what life is all about. If a person of such nature wishes to anyway, it would be best to get a 'guide' to facilitate readings. But this is MOST definitely a good reading for those who wish to continue 'discovering' yourselves. I LOVE it. And the best part is, after the first time you complete the book, the very NEXT TIME you read the chapters again, you will find in them a new added understanding towards the meanings. Simply Fascinating. Lots of Terms too, but ignore them. There won't be any exams, afterall.
Secrets within secrets.......2001-05-03
Move forward in time and try to visulaize your death... then look back at your life and see what really matters in life? You have to go back where you came from and nothing can change that fact. It may not be a bad idea to get closer to the Ultimate Power in your life time. This is not a book for the beginers who are trying to figure out the meaning of life and our relationship with God but for those who don't have any doubts in their minds and a feeling of completeness... this may shed some light on how to get closer. You must demolish all your pre concieved notions within your brain and enter the abstrat world before you read it.
