The perfect gift for people you love when they're diagnosed with Cander........2007-09-19
12+ years ago when my surgeon told me I had breast cancer (my second bout with cancer), she gave me this book. Not only did it help me develop, sustain and exude a positive attitude during my entire treatment phase, but it made me a touchstone for anyone else who was diagnosed with cancer and contacted me. Since that time, whenever someone that is near and dear to me, someone that I truly love and want to do something positive for when they are diagnosed with cancer, I give them a copy of this book. Not one of them has died to date. My most recent gift of the book has been to my husband and he is visibly changing his attitude as he reads it.
Not your fault!.......2007-07-12
When I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, I read a wide variety of "inspirational" cancer survivor books. The Bloch's Foundation's "Fighting Cancer" (free just contact them) and Norman Cousin's "Anatomy of an Illness" really resonated for me, made sense and reinforced my focus. Bernie Siegel's books on the other hand made me feel that the disease was my fault for having the "wrong" personality and that if I allowed any negative thoughts into my mind, I was putting my recovery in doubt. Heck most of my thoughts during treatment were negative, real negative! I literally threw his books in the trash, probably more of a symbolic gesture, but it felt good. BTW I am cancer free for the last 16 years, fathered a child and getting a kick out every day.
A powerful message but not scientifically prooven.......2007-06-26
Bernie's central theme is that there is a strong correlation between emotional health and physical health. However he rarely cites any scientific evidence for his claim. He keeps repeating this message based on his experiences with random patients. Surely one can conclude many things from random patients, but a theory has to applicable accross a large sample. There has to be a 'control' if the study is to have any scientific merit. I wished he had shown more of these studies.
This would definitely be a five star book had the author been more scientific in prooving his point. Nevertheless I do personally agree with it.
hope, but not false hope.......2007-05-15
I'd pretty much accepted that i was going to die from cancer. My doctors had too. My friend gave me this book and it caused a huge attitude shift in me. Now I feel that I have it within me to heal and live a long happy and healthy life. I've been told there is nothing medically can be done for me. If I hadn't read this book first I would have just laid down and died when they told me. But now I've opened myself up to other tools for healing - good diet, wheatgrass, reiki, meditation and absolutely no sugar. Time will tell, but I think I'm on the right track.
I thought this book was so good that I ordered a copy to give to my oncologist. He's a lovely man and I believe his desire to help his patients will lead him to use this book as a useful tool in the future.
a read that cheers you up.......2007-05-10
Everybody who is confused and scared about what they are going through due to serious health problems should read this book. "Healthy" people also, they will learn a lot.
Book Description
A world-renowned child psychiatrist offers a groundbreaking new perspective on how stress and violence affect children's brains--and how they can be helped to heal
What happens when a young brain is traumatized? How does terror, abuse, or disaster affect a child's mind--and how can that mind recover?
Child psychiatrist Bruce Perry has helped children faced with unimaginable horror: genocide survivors, murder witnesses, kidnapped teenagers, and victims of family violence. In The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog, he tells their stories of trauma and transformation through the lens of science, revealing the brain's astonishing capacity for healing. Deftly combining unforgettable case histories with his own compassionate, insightful strategies for rehabilitation, Perry explains what exactly happens to the brain when a child is exposed to extreme stress-and reveals the unexpected measures that can be taken to ease a child's pain and help him grow into a healthy adult. Through the stories of children who recover-physically, mentally, and emotionally-from the most devastating circumstances, Perry shows how simple things like surroundings, affection, language, and touch can deeply impact the developing brain, for better or for worse.
In this deeply informed and moving book, Bruce Perry dramatically demonstrates that only when we understand the science of the mind can we hope to heal the spirit of even the most wounded child.
Customer Reviews:
Food for thought.......2007-09-02
The book lives up to its fascinating title. Perry has worked for years with traumatized and neglected children and his take on dealing with them is based on research showing how the brain develops and the impact of neglect and abuse on it. In other words, if a child is abused or neglected in the first year of life (approximately), physical changes take place in the brain or rather, neurological connections that should be made, are not. (This is a vast simplification.) So as a child gets older and begins exhibiting antisocial behaviors that land him or her in special classes or even mental hospitals, it is not because he or she prefers to act this way but because the child's brain is unable to function in a way that enables him or her to become socialized. Perry, having done a great deal of research on this subject himself, spits in the eye of a lot of "accepted" practices when it comes to children's mental health. I'm always interested to read views that oppose the generally accepted norms. My daughter loaned me this book which she is reading as part of her Ph.D. program in pre- and postnatal psychology. It certainly fits right in with her assertion that we need to pay much more attention to what is happening in the first year of life (and before), not only because the child's personality is being formed, but because his brain is as well (and perhaps this is the same thing). The stories in this book are heart wrenching, but Perry does show that there are ways to help or at the very least, understand.
Refreshing new ideas .......2007-07-24
As a counseling student focusing on child therapy, I was very glad I stumbled across this book in the local library. Perry explores the role of brain structure in childhood disorders. While he focuses primarily on trauma (such as how PTSD in children mimics ODD and ADHD), I believe that other applications can be made. This is novel to hear in a world of tired exclusive arguments pro or con genetics, brain chemistry, and environment. Perry combines a few of these ideas to give the mental health worker a more comprehensive look at mental illness and trauma. The case stories are heartbreaking and compelling. A worthwhile read if you are going into the mental health (or even teaching) field, and interesting even if you are not.
I feel blessed to have found this book. .......2007-07-11
My husband and I are about to adopt our first child. We are adopting through DHS. All children who are adopted through DHS have been through trauma. We have been taking classes when our teacher recommended this book. I went out and bought it and read it and it was so insightful to what we may be dealing with. I feel so blessed to have this information about the brain and how children may act out in times they feel out of control. I truly believe that EVERY foster/adoptive parent should read this book. It was amazing and I will probably read it again. I can't stop talking about it. I am just blown away and very thankful for this book.
Everyone should read this book!.......2007-07-05
I couldn't put this book down. I learned so much that I can apply to myself as well as my kids. I have two adopted children who came from severe early childhood neglect and abuse, so this book is invaluable to me. The only problem is that it has left me thirsty for more from Dr. Perry!
Truly remarkable.......2007-06-27
The stories in this book are heart-wrenching, but to people who've dealt with traumatized children the scenarios and the aftermath are familiar. What is truly remarkable about Dr. Perry's work is that he uses each case he describes as an opportunity to explain how the developing brain is affected by trauma and how healing can be informed by this knowledge. Unlike many other books in this genre, this is no "great therapist cures poor abused children" book. Dr. Perry is modest about his own contributions, and rightly emphasizes the role that parents, extended family, and community must play in helping to heal traumatized kids as well is preventing trauma from occurring in the first place.
As the parent of a child with PTSD, I've read extensively on the subject. I'd really have liked it if Dr. Perry could have included a recipe for cure in the book, but of course that's just my wishful thinking, not a realistic hope. What he does give for parents who are looking for help is guidelines and guidance for finding the right kind of help, not just from therapy but from the larger world. What I learned from this book will definitely contribute to my ongoing work to help my daughter find her way out of the nightmare that her past put her in.

Absolultey on the mark.......2007-06-03
I have only just recently begun to read this book. But already I am absolutely shocked by how on target everything it says is. As I read the pages, I find myself wondering if the author has not been observing me and taking notes. I have always held a strong fear of sexuality, and always feel guilty when I find myself watching pretty girls or getting aroused. The author's descriptions if an interior world of denial and self doubt are precisely on the mark. I have not begun to utilize any therapeutic tips offered within, but so far I am deeply impressed.
Great book I hate.......2006-11-10
This is a great book to get out of the denial of problems with intimacy and sexuality. It is to the point and gives great help for recovery.
Finally a deeper perspective.......2006-03-30
After having tried different kinds of books and therapy which mainly is focusing on the technical aspects of sex with little success or progress, I feel that this book really goes behind the technical and offers a more complete explanation as to why some people have a difficult relationship with sex.
In comparison to other books that seem to tell you that if you have difficulty with sex you must have been sexually abused as a child, this book offers a more complete analysis and makes you think of little things and details which along the way might have caused you to find sex difficult, but in an uplifting manner, saying that it is ok and that you can solve it. It also tells you that you are not the only one suffering from this fear of intimacy and that it is ok and you can do something about it.
In my opinion it is a very well written book and is worth reading for a lot of people in order to get a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them, focusing on how intimacy can be difficult and providing solutions to work through it.
Empathetic and brave.......2003-02-06
This book has been very useful to me. It's written with a good deal of compassion and insight, and even though I think the authors oversimplify some issues, they manage to get near the heart of what makes sex so difficult for many people. The recommended activities are generally weak and none too useful, but that's true of most self-help books. Even the good ones.
About the Book.......1999-08-14
Enables those suffering from this disorder to recognize that sex need not be a furtive enemy to be fought & defeated but, instead, a deeply sensual, passionate, fulfilling & spiritual experience that all human beings are innately entitled to.

Love Your Patients! is a guide to the words and actions that healthcare workers can offer to enhance any patient's healthcare experience. Written by a psychologist-turned-Emergency Room physician, the advice is gentle and uncomplicated, yet vibrantly enhanced by the colorful anecdotes from life in the trenches of healthcare. The second section critiques a dozen anecdotes which illustrate how good caregivers can behave rudely when they fail to act with love. The third section provides the scientific basis for the admonitions. Love Your Patients! will appeal to students in all fields of health care, practitioners at every level, hospital administrators looking to improve patient satisfaction, and managed care groups who wish to avoid complaints and litigations. It is easy to read - secular, but with spiritual overtones. It will change people's lives.

Incredible!!! This booked has really changed my life. I am a Paramedic and soon to be Nurse and this book has really helped me in my patient skills. I highly recommend this book to anybody in healthcare.
Compassionate, Wonderful.......2004-09-18
Dr. Diering provides the sensitivity, compassion and passion to which every heathcare provider (and patient) should aspire. This book is beautifully written and should be required reading for every medical student, physician, nurse, EMT and everyone else working with patients. If everyone took this book to heart, patient satisfaction scores would sore. Our healthcare is the best in the world but without taking the time to listen and respond, we fall short. This book will not only change the way we practice but also the way our patients respond. Finally, if you want to reduce medical malpractice suits, read this book.
Enhanced for the reader with extensive references.......2004-09-13
Love Your Patients!: Essential Behaviors That Enrich The Lives Of Patients & Caregivers by Dr. Scott Louis Diering (a practicing emergency medicine physician in Maryland, where he is also a Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland medical school) persuasively argues that it is love, respect, and humility which lie at the heart of the successful medical caretaker whether that caretaker be a doctor, a nurse, or a paraprofessional. This thesis is wonderful illustrated by a series of true life stories. Of special note is the final section titled "The Art of Agape". Enhanced for the reader with extensive references and a "user friendly" index, Love Your Patients! should be mandatory reading for the students of every medical school and nursing college in the country.
This is a fantastic book! Buy this book!.......2004-09-10
This is a well written, balanced guide for improving your interpersonal skills. Although written for healthcare professionals, it is very readable and anyone could pick it up and enjoy it.
I have been very pleased with the improvements I have made in my life and my practice since I have read this book. It is not religious or anything. It clearly defines what we need to do so that we will be liked, that's all. Then, it gives example stories. Some of the stories are really funny, too!
It is well written, fast, easy reading and very sage.
(I review it anonymously now so no one knows the secret of my transformation and how poorly I used to relate to other people! I plan to give this book to several nerdy colleagues.)
Book Description

This is my first Amazon experience and it was a good one. I am soo pleased with the book, I recieved it just in time. Thanks
Very helpful book.......2007-04-01
I purchased this book to help me learn medical terminology at my own pace. I expected less than what I received. There are diagrams, charts, and lots of examples. There is a good amount of repetition so after the chapter is finished the terminology is retained.
Great Investment.......2007-03-31
I highly recommend this book and CD-Rom for anyone who wants to make a serious effort to learn medical terminology. This textbook is incredibly well-written and thorough. I feel lucky to have been able to purchase it at such a great price.
not Mac friendly.......2007-02-05
The book is good and can be used to self-teach, but the CD-ROM does not work on a Mac OS-X; apparently it is a Windows-only application.
This is a pet peeve of mine and accounts for my low-rating. There was no indication before I bought it that the accompanying software would not work on my Mac
not bad, easy system.......2007-01-09
This book starts out simple and builds on itself as you progress. It covers a broad range of med terms, with about 30 pages in each chapter and a good end of chapter review with different types of quizzes. The CD is also by chapter and has games to test you and also an area you can listen to the vocab words for pronunciation. My "plastic comb" version (not the spiral bound for more $) is falling apart after 2 semseters of use though.

Confused about feeding your baby or toddler? Child of Mine, by noted nutritionist Ellyn Satter, is an essential guide for every new parent concerned with nutrition and appetite. Satter's advice is thorough and straightforward: "You can't control or dictate the quantity of food your child eats, and you shouldn't try. You also can't control or dictate the kind of body your child develops, and you shouldn't try. What you can do, and it is a great deal, is set things up for your child so she, herself, can regulate her food intake as well as possible, and so she can develop a healthy body that is constitutionally right for her."
Child of Mine provides information on all aspects of feeding, from pregnancy through the toddler years. Satter begins with historical and social perspectives on infant feeding, describing how formula was developed and discussing the social movement that lead to accepting a child's input into his or her own development. Nutrition during pregnancy, infant feeding, introducing solid foods, building positive eating relationships, and avoiding eating disorders are all discussed. The sections on breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding, and on the regulation of food intake (particularly the relationship between parental attitudes and children's eating habits) are especially recommended.
Satter provides specific nutritional information (including charts, diagrams, and nutritional breakdowns) interspersed with a no-nonsense, experienced perspective that will help you establish good eating habits that your children will benefit from long after they're out of diapers. --Ericka Lutz
Book Description
Widely considered the leading book involving nutrition and feeding infants and children, this revised edition offers practical advice that takes into account the most recent research into such topics as: emotional, cultural, and genetic aspects of eating; proper diet during pregnancy; breast-feeding versus; bottle-feeding; introducing solid food to an infant's diet; feeding the preschooler; and avoiding mealtime battles. An appendix looks at a wide range of disorders including allergies, asthma, and hyperactivity, and how to teach a child who is reluctant to eat. The author also discusses the benefits and drawbacks of giving young children vitamins.
Customer Reviews:
Feeding with Love and Good Sense.......2007-09-15
This book is great for parents of infants through preschoolers. It combines information on feeding dynamics, parenting, nutrition, developmental stages of eating and children's behavior. I purchased it to gain more information on feeding as a professional (occupational therapist) and have now started buying it as part of baby gifts. I wish I had it when my kids were babies.
Its great to see clinical 'proofs' that help to build parents confidence.......2007-08-05
Feeding seems to be a very emotional topic for many and parents seem to argue a lot with one another around this topic especially if their child is overweight or underweight. In many cases when talking to other parents you hear "My child is doing just fine and I'm not following the methods in that book", or "Well you grew up fine following my techniques didn't you?" mentalities that will be mirrored in our own beliefs and your own parents.
So what I find extremely useful in this book is the clinical evidence and references to studies presented. Since children even in the same family are different its good to hear the history of the previous century and read about the studies conducted. This scientific approach is helpful in building my confidence in what approaches to use and understanding that the approaches put forward in the book are not just the latest fad but something that has been tested and held up to scrutiny. She also discusses where she has been mistaken herself and is willing to admit her mistakes; mistakes that were proven out through (yes) more clinical studies.
So my advice for those looking at this book is read it with a scientists mindset and not with a mind of 'I bet this book proves my wife is wrong'. If you do this then I'm sure you'll enjoy it and find it useful in removing some of the stress of being a parent.
One more thing; I read one review that read:
"We eat curries, stir-fries, pastas, burritos, and a zillion other things. How could a celebrated nutrition expert have so little clue that lowfat food can be wonderful varied stuff?"
I'm sure this reader is more skilled than I at creating low fat burritos and congratulations are obviously due. However, I think this demonstrates my point in that here is an example of someone reading the book wanting to prove out their own approach and then being disappointed and offended that the book wasn't on their particular line of thinking.
Perfect baby shower gift.......2007-07-14
This book really helped us understand about how to introduce food and feed our children. The information incules everything from nursing and bottle feeding, through feeding during the toddler years. Ellyn Satter's philosophies make sense; they were easy to adapt to our life. We learned how to avoid food battles with our two year old. We wish we would have had this book when our first child came along! We now give it as a baby gift to all our friends.
Good Advice on Bottle Feeding and Starting on Solids.......2007-07-13
As someone who adopted my son at 5 months of age, I really appreciated a book that covered bottle-feeding sensibly without making me feel like my child was actively being harmed by formula or that I was a piece of s#$@ for not being able to breastfeed him. Too many books - particularly those from the attachment parenting realm - lead those of us who are unable to breastfeed to despair for our children's future.
It was also helpful when getting my son started on solids. After about 2 weeks he decided he was not going to let me spoon feed him (batted the spoon away at every opportunity). My instinct was to NOT let him hold the spoon and instead to find creative ways to jam that spoon in his mouth. Without this book, I don't know that I would have realized that he was not rejecting the FOOD, but was just really insistent on feeding himself. With this books tips and suggestions, I was able to find ways to accommodate his desire to self-feed with his lacking motor skills.
Also, my sister is a pediatric nutritionist. She gave me this book and always recommends it to all her patients' families.

Louise Hay.......2007-01-07
You really should read the book and need the book for the workbook to be successful. That being said, the workbook is a great tool for a person who is dedicated to self-improvement. You really do work in this workbook.
Love Yourself, Heal Your Life Workbook.......2006-08-16
Great resource book for therapist/counselors. Good exercises to incorporate in therapy sessions.
Duplicate material.......2006-07-29
This is a very helpful book. However, it appears to be the same book as is what is now entitled "The Companion Book" which is included in the "Gift Set" by Louise Hay. The website does not clearly state this duplication, and I bought both the gift set and the workbook, a duplication. I recommend that the website make this clear.
Positive Thinking on a Wide Range of Topics.......2005-05-14
"These exercises will give you new information about yourself. You will be able to make new choices. If you are willing, then you can definitely create the kind of life you say you want." ~Louse L. Hay
Louise delves into health, fears, phobias, sex, self-esteem, money, friendship, addictions, work and intimacy issues. In her loving, caring way, she guides you through fifteen work"fun" chapters. I think this book is more fun than work. You will learn about:
1. Basic Techniques - Changing thoughts and releasing old beliefs about yourself.
2. Who Are You? What Do You Believe?
3. Health Checklist
4. Feeling Good
5. Fears and Phobias
6. Anger
7. Criticism and Judgment
8. Addictions
9. Forgiveness
10. Work
11. Money and Prosperity
12. Friends
13. Sexuality
14. Love and Intimacy
15. Your New Picture
You will find questions like: "What do you want that you are not having?" At the end of the first chapter there is a "Deservability Treatment" where you can read affirmations and perhaps extract one or two sentences for daily reflection like: "I am willing to create new thoughts about myself and about my life. My new thinking becomes new experiences."
There are many places where you can record your own thoughts about various topics like love, sex, work, money, success, failure and God. There is a place to write a story of your life and to draw a picture of your inner child.
The chapter on health might jumpstart a new healthy journey into nutrition and wellness.
If you want to pass this book along to a friend, you could also buy a small journal and make notes in the journal instead of on the pages. This book could also be used as inspiration for journal writing. This book gave me a great idea - to create an entire book just of affirmations. A lot of our self-talk can make us miserable or enlightened.
Louise L. Hay also focuses on reflection, meditation, visualization and relaxation. She presents a pathway to a more positive and fulfilling life that is filled with daily discoveries of beauty and nurturing elements. It is time to start loving ourselves more and time to heal our lives.
"Criticism breaks down the inner spirit, and never changes a thing. Praise builds up the spirit and can bring positive changes." ~Louise L. Hay

A tapestry of Insight into Healing the Self;.......2004-09-13
As usual Louise has presented her wisdom in a easy to use insightful format. Her work over the years has gone from strength to strength and her theory of illness being a direct result of our beleifs and habits is an interesting one. While in some respects I feel this theory is only a part of the multitude of reasons for illness, it is never the less a very valid insight into how we manifest our lives. Do the exercises and I can guarantee you will learn something about yourself, and over time things will change. It takes time to restore the balance in our lives, however reading this book and doing the exercises is a part of the journey for those seeking to understand how their psychie influences their reality, and from that position it gives the reader insight through choices and awareness. Would highly recomend. TRUITY Williams from wanabelong(dot)com. Author of Book of Choices and the series Workbook of Choices, also the creator of the family board game TRUITY Choices.

Book Description
Originally published nearly ten years ago, Peace, Love & Healing offered the revolutionary message that we have an innate ability to heal ourselves. Now proven by numerous scientific studies, the connection between our minds and our bodies has been increasingly accepted as fact throughout the mainstream medical community. In a new introduction, Dr. Bernie Siegel highligths current research on the relationships among consciousness, psychosocial factors, attitude and immune function.
"Love and peace of mind do protect us," Siegel writes. "They allow us to overcome the problems that life hands us. They teach us to survive...to live now...to have the courage to confront each day."

Change the mind, change the body--and get well!.......2007-05-09
I've submitted essentially the same review for Love, Medicine and Miracles as for Peace, Love and Healing. I read Love, Medicine and Miracles first and then Peace, Love and Healing and also recommend that others read them in that sequence: Peace, Love, and Healing is very much a continuation of the earlier book. Having said that, the most important thing is for anyone facing a health crisis to read them both. The sequence in which they're read is less important than that they be read--and absorbed.
I was introduced to these books shortly after having been diagnosed with cancer by another person who was (and still is, unfortunately) dealing with some major health issues. Although I've read tons of stuff relating to cancer and, especially, treatments of various types and stripes, I can't think of anything that provided greater value and (even) guidance to me during those challenging days, mainly because getting the "head" right is half the battle--and the half of the battle that far too many completely neglect. One of the things that Bernie makes imminently clear to the reader is that he/she, the reader, has a great deal of power over the course of his/her illness. That's an important message to someone feeling powerless. Plenty of powerful examples, thought exercises, etc. The messages are uplifting, hopeful, life-affirming, empowering, and above all, realistic.
Although I was vaguely aware of the mind-body connection before reading these books, I now understand that psychoneuroimmunology (if that is an unfamiliar term, you will become familiar with it by the time you've read Peace, Love and Healing) is real and can potentially be harnessed to the patient's great benefit: change the mind, change the body.
Naturally, I can't do justice to these books with a few short sentences here. But here's the bottom line: these books should be read by anyone facing a health crisis who sincerely wants to get well. But they should also be read by anyone who has a friend or loved one facing a health crisis. Read them yourself before you send them on to the friend/loved one. You'll find them valuable both for yourself and also for helping your friend/loved one deal with it. The books should be read by anyone facing a life-threatening illness, but their value transcends cancer (or other serious illness) self-help by a long shot, valuable as that is. Even if your present health seems to be good, you should still read these books. They will help you live more effectively even if you never get sick. And they will surely equip you to deal with a major illness if you ever have to face one.
Bernie, you're great!.......2007-04-03
I just love Bernie Siegal, and admire his openness and willingness to speak out and risk the ridicule of the traditional medical community. It seems his ideas really are important in healing!
Essential reading for everyone's health.......2002-02-28
Bernie Siegel writes in a very conversational-easy-to-read style in a book packed with information, facts, and understanding which is helpful for everyone regarding the connection between mind-body healing. Bernie Siegel helps us to take responsibility for our own health and to work as a team member with medical professionals in a co-operative style of relating.
Having fairly recently been diagnosed with an advanced cancer this book helped me to see cancer in a new light.
Everyone would bemnefit from reading this book for their health in general.

"LOVE IS THE MIRACLE CURE!".......2005-10-21
All surgeons do not use knives and scalpels, rather many practice a holistic approach -- "love, medicine, and miracles."
Bernie Siegel writes just such a book that every home should have. He shares his factual experiences with exceptional patients, who through much of his efforts, learn valuable lessons about self-healing. Much of Siegel's experiences shared in his "love heals teaching," evolved from his founding ECaP, a group of exceptional cancer and AIDS patients.
Directing the reader to the causes of many of the diseases in the first of two parts in his book, Dr. Siegel helps bring clarity to the reason for these illnesses -- the body embodied by the mind. And after the discovery of the problem, Siegel, in part two, assists the patient to the pathways that in many instances restore total and complete health. Even in death, the author reveals lessons that can only be a must for all.
Imagine mental imagery as a means to begin a process of healing -- a female patient turns household chores into healing moments by imagining that her dishwashing suds are washing away her disease. All of the miracles, whether little or small, seem to germinate from unconditional love, especially the processes of forgiveness and transcending fear! Many of the patients are now living lives of endless fruition and Divine peace through "love, medicine, and miracles."
. . . The affinity of love with medicine can work miracles because the reader and patient find out that "There is no disease that enough love cannot heal . . . "
"LOVE IS THE MIRACLE CURE!"

How To Be A Better Cancer Survivor.......2005-06-28
Bernie Siegel is the founder of ECAP (Exceptional Cancer Patients) and much of this book is drawn from his experiences with these patients. The purpose of the book is to help cancer survivors to become exceptional patients who learn to embrace life more fully and live longer. Usually these patients are able to take control of their lives and treatments in partnership with their doctors. There is a connection between mind and body which can be exploited in order to maximize chances for recovery. The will to live is very important in this process. In arguably the most interesting chapter of the text, the author describes the characteristics of exceptional patients and other notable survivors. The book provides much information and hope which anyone battling cancer will find uplifting.
Book Description
Legendary porn star Nina Hartley's guide to thrilling, liberating, mind-blowing, soul-fulfilling, and intimacy-building sex!
Witty, smart, and frankly provocative, Nina Hartley knows sex. As a sex performer, sexual adventurer, and sex educator, she's done the fieldwork and has taken extensive notes. Now, she's ready to share her research. Let's just say that she's had all the sex-the good, the bad, and the indifferent-so you won't necessarily have to!
Nina Hartley's Guide to Total Sex is for sexual pioneers and enthusiastic novices. Unabashedly erotic, the book covers a lot of territory, allowing readers to sample the whole smorgasbord or just nibble at what they see as the choicest bits. To start things off, Nina includes explicitly detailed chapters on foreplay, oral sex, masturbation, toys, and games. Sexual adventurers (and voyeurs) will find chapters on swinging, three-ways, anal sex, erotic domination, sensual submission, and much more.
Nina is a strong advocate of safe sex, physically and emotionally, and she helps readers establish personal ground rules. But as a sexual liberationist and a feminist, her core belief is that, between consenting adults, all sexual behaviors are a matter of personal choice. Whether you're trying to reignite the passion with a longtime spouse, or explore new terrain with a new lover, Nina offers a variety of ideas to achieve exhilarating, deeply satisfying, intimate, and profoundly liberating sex.

What can I say, except... MAGNIFICENT!!!.......2007-06-19
Okay, since I got this book in December... I've now read it cover-to-cover 6 times.
This book shoots straight, and doesn't "beat around the bush". Nina doesn't talk down to you... like you should know all this already. She talks to you, and on a level that's easy to follow along with, and to understand.
Now, I'm not saying I agree 100% with what she has to say... and I'd be lying if I said I did. But, Nina definitely opened my eyes, and helped me to look at my partner in a whole new light.
Not just sexually... but sensually as well.
Thank you Nina, for being so open... and teaching this "old dog" some new tricks.
Nina Hartley's Guide To Total Sex.......2007-04-27
Nina Hartley's book is the best book I have read about sex hands down. The book combines her years of experience in the adult industry and instruction into one fantastic guide. Nina Hartley gives not only how to tips but also gives advice on how to communicate with your partner and create intimacy. Ninas writing is candid ,easy to follow and intelligent. Anyone, whether just starting out or experienced will come away after reading this book learning something new and having fun with the new knowledge!
Who hasn't wanted to pick the brain of an adult star who does sex instruction also?
Better than any other.......2007-01-08
This book is definately not for just people who are beginners, it's for the pros too! Lots of very useful information on all sorts of adult topics. The writing is interesting while at the same time very informative. Since Nina is a nurse, she follows hygiene and safety very thoroughly. Not offensive, gawdy or overdone. It's definately not boring! Very to the point with LOTS of handy hints and helpful info. Covers every topic you want to know about but don't usually ask. Would totally recommend this to any adult looking to become more sexually aware. Very good!!! Worth your money and the time it takes to read...great for couples!
Maybe the Best.......2006-12-20
Margaret Cho isn't kidding. This really might be the best book about sex, ever. The book discusses techniques, sexual ethics, and attitude: sex as a whole. It's warm, well-written, intelligent, informative. Above all, although it is frank and completely straightforward, it is written with an awareness of the fact that not everybody... well, almost nobody... is completely secure about sex. It neither condescends nor intimidates; it accepts our foibles and anxieties while gently but firmly showing us that there's a better way.
I can't imagine anyone, from a veteran swinger to a virgin, who wouldn't get something of value from it, with just a modicum of openmindedness.
great writing by a true expert on the subject.......2006-12-06
