Daughter of Destiny.......2007-08-10
Excellent story of Kathryn Kuhlman by Jamie Bucckingham. What I wanted to know was the 2 million plus that went to the people who seemed to force themselves into Ms Kuhlmans life - how did they get all that money and where are they now? I understand she made a second will when she was near death leaving most of her money to these people.
Book written very frankly.......2007-04-05
I had heard about Kathryn Kuhlman from a number of people so I thought I'd read her biography. The author was very good at giving an open account of her life, her strengths and her weaknesses. In some ways it may have shown too much of her weaknesses. As I read it I became dismayed at her life; her choices. But as I read on it was clear that God flowed through this woman; weird as she was. It also shows that God is much bigger than we think. After reading the biographies of Charles Finney and Smith Wigglesworth and reading a number of books by Kenneth Hagin, this book shows an entirely different side of God in how He operates via the Holy Spirit. Actually this book shows the Sovereignity of God completely contradicts many of the teachings of Kenneth Hagin's theology of God will only do things for you if you have faith. With Kuhlman God healed people who weren't even looking to get healed. People got overwhelmed by the presence of God and collapsed just walking by the door of the building she was preaching in; sometimes they weren't even Christians (though some became Christians because of that experience). I think everyone that reads this book will certainly be encourged by it to seek a closer walk with Jesus.
Daughter of Destiny - that she was!.......2006-01-14
Jamie Buckingham did a tremendous job of purely getting the heart of Miss Kuhlman on paper. In reading this I feel as though I have walked with Miss Kuhlman and stood right beside her through some of her greatest times and most difficult trials. You will find yourself unable to help being caught up in the presence of God as you read this story of her amazing life. It is a story that will propel you to greater things in God! ENJOY!!
Exhorted me in the right direction.......2005-06-12
This was a very good book to read about the life of Kathryn Kuhlman. It was good for me because it encouraged me in some ways, because I know I'm suppose to be walking with healing power like she did. I had wanted to know how she dealt with life and still stay so anointed. The part that I really liked, even though it was shortly mentioned, was about the light of God's glory that appeared around her. It exhorted me in the right direction...
Real Christianity.......2004-04-22
This book will greatly encourage those who believe that the spirituality of the book of Acts can be ours today. Like the Bible, it is brutally honest, yet marvellously encouraging spiritually. Abundant proof is provided that miracles are not just for 2,000 years ago. God is alive and well, not just doing miracles in the third world but also here in North America and in the relatively recent past. This is a must read for those interested in ministering with the power of the Holy Spirit

This kick-off book in the new Bombshell line will satisfy readers in many ways.
Kai Alseoun has led a hard life. Her father had been an alcoholic, who killed himself and her mother in a car accident many years ago. Just when she had found a life she was happy with, as a Navy combat pilot, it's all torn away from her by a betrayal from a fellow military man. She retreats to the reservation where she grew up with her Grandmother, and begins to realize there is another path meant for her, a life that comes to her through her vision dreams.
Three sacred crystal totems are stolen from the Cherokee people and only Kai holds the key to finding them again. Her quest leads her to the heart of the Australian desert, in order to recover the first of the three objects. When an old friend is found to be her partner on this mission, Jake Stands Alone Carter, old feelings come rushing back to her - feelings of safety and security and, could it be... love? But she is emotionally scarred from past experiences. Will Jake's strength be enough to help her complete her mission, and heal the wounds of her heart once and for all?
This was a good romance story, with enough action to keep most readers eager to share the adventure. Danger is around every corner for Kai and Jake, and will keep readers anticipating what is next to come. However, there were a few parts that dragged, in between the action scenes, and can take one longer to get through those sections of the story. For the most part though, this story does move steadily and details are revealed as the quest continues, making the villains seem all the more ominous as a result.
There is quite a bit of information scattered throughout the story as well, which will delight readers whom are fascinated by Native American religions and beliefs. Ms. McKenna quite obviously did her homework, researching rituals and powers held by those most revered of the Cherokee people, their Medicine Women... and Men. This reviewer was captivated by the bit of knowledge used in the story to give it depth, and could actually feel the power flowing through the sacred totem and the medicine people of the Cherokee and the native Australians.
Though the primary focus of the Bombshell series is on the strong female leads and their adventures, there is plenty of romance in this book. Correction... it reads more as a love story then a romance, but will please fans of the genre. Kai is a wounded soul, scarred by her past experiences with her emotionally abusive alcoholic father, her ex-lover who could not handle her strength of character and mind, and the man who cost her a military career. Though she and Jake have a past between them, where Jake was always her "savior" of sorts, due to her other experiences with men, she finds it very hard to trust him when he reappears in her life again after so many years. Jake understands her though, and how he deals with her fears will make readers fall in love with him for his kind and loving nature. When the two finally conquer Kai's doubts, and come to the end of their quest, readers will cheer them on to their much-deserved happy ending.

romance??.......2005-07-05
As a regular reader of Harlequin Intrigue, I was excited by the idea of a new series that focused on strong female characters as the heros of the stories. At least, that's what I thought the Bombshell series was supposed to be, a sort-of Grrrl Power romantic action/adventure line.
Sadly, I have been quite disappointed. After having read this, the first offering in the line, and the 9th, Maureen Tan's A Perfect Cover, I decided that I was mistaken about the focus of the Bombshell line. Yes, the stories did focus on a strong female character. These main characters are more focused and dramatic than those in some other Harlequin/Silhouette categories. There is a male character to be the romantic interest and there is action and adventure.
But there's very little romance. (Assuming you've read the very apt descriptions of the plot by other reviewers here) The interaction between Kai and Jake seems to sometimes belong on a soap opera and sometimes in a young adult novel. In their particular story, it seems that everything important has been their from the past, and we're just waiting (page after page) for Kai to get over herself and love Jake, while he just stands by and waits for it. And, I suppose this kind of sensitive give the lady her time and space approach is fine in life, but it doesn't make for very good romantic fiction.
Rather than developing a romance, the author has set one up in the characters' past and spends the action of the book on building a main character and on accomplishing the given task, rather than in allotting a portion of the word count to developing a romance. Even at the end of the book, she never reaches where most romance readers expect her to be with respect to the protagonists' relationship to achieve a proper sense of satisfaction with the conclusion.
As an action novel, I would say that this is fairly good, well-paced with vivid descriptions of places, events, and cultural particulars. As a romance, I would consider the Bombshell line a bomb.
Overall good tight exciting action read .......2004-12-16
This is the first of a new Morgan's Mercenaries trilogy focused on the retrieval of 3 stolen Cherokee artifacts with mystical powers.
This book is exciting, tense, action packed and suspenseful. The aboriginal mysticism in Australia is nicely balanced by people shooting bazookas at our heroes in a helicopter!
I only have one complaint and I think this is a generational thing with the author- her dialog when she tries to use colloquialisms feels stiff and unnatural. Very few women or men- even gung ho military types use "dude" as much as she uses it. This is a term that went out with valley girls 20 years ago. "Buddy", "guy" or even "hey you" would be more current. This is a quirk I have seen in a number of books by the author- just a little thing- but it does disrupt things. Editors- please take note and get out a thesaurus.
Disappointing!.......2004-08-06
I bought the first 4 books in the Bombshell Series, and this was the first one I read. What a disappointing start! I gave it 2 stars because although the author set up a pretty good plot, I just didn't care for what she did with it. It's always a bad sign when I start scanning through to get to the end, and that's what I did with this book. Also, there is very little romance in this book. Kai and Jake spend the whole time tip-toing around each other. Am I mistaken, or is this supposed to be a romance series? Hopefully, things will get better with the next book.

The End of Part One.......2007-06-18
Jenna Solitaire, the Keeper of the Boards, has to find the last board of the elements and the key to hold them together. She and Simon find themselves directed to England and Scotland. All she has to do is figure out the location of a field she saw in a dream. A field that looks like any other. But between the Journal, the Boards, and Shalizander she manages to find the right location. But finding the location is only the beginning.
Jenna needs to keep the three Boards under control, fight off Shalizander's attempts to get her to complete the ritual of the dagger, locate the board and the key, link all the boards, awaken the Master Board, and fight off attacks from her enemies. Not so simple a task. This is Jenna's hardest battle yet with its own challenges, choices and losses. How well with Jenna survive? What losses will she have to endure? You will have to read to find out.
This book concludes the search for the Elemental Boards. There are still eight more boards to find. There are supposed to be thirteen boards (yes, 4+8=12 and not 13) but this cycle is over. This volume was much more fantasy oriented with huge amounts of magic and magical beings and less of the real world. Because of this there are fewer areas where the story does not work like in the earlier books. Although the larger series is not yet over, I am not sure if I will look at the others if they ever come out.

Daughters of Destiny: Excellent reading for the entire family!.......2006-08-30
We have thoroughly enjoyed Daughters of Destiny. Not only is it full of TRUE stories of virtuous, courageous, godly women, it is inspiring to our entire family. Our children range in age from 11 down to newborn, and they all listen attentively to the stories. The boys enjoy it as much as the girls do (and so does their daddy!). I would enjoy it just as much myself if I was not reading it aloud. The literary content is excellent in establishing sophisticated language patterns for grammer and future writing skills. This book would make a wonderful gift for any young lady! Perfect teen gift!

Destiny's Daughters.......2006-08-30
I enjoyed the different lives that each triplet lead. I also liked how they all were searching for one another and didn't give up.
Determined To Follow Their Destiny.......2006-07-14
This collection of three novellas by best selling authors: Gwynne Forster, Parry "Ebony Satin" Brown and Donna Hill is the story of three sisters, identical triplets, separated at birth who have longed to find one another for most of their adult lives. Their teenaged mother, Minnie Lou Holmes, died immediately after they were born and was also an orphaned child, making their search to find one another even more difficult. 16-years-old and living with her elderly Aunt Essie Mae in the sticks of Georgia, Minnie Lou had long been abandoned by her no count boyfriend. Her three daughters didn't have a chance from the day that they were born. Now grown women at age 33, these three sisters have three very different stories to tell.
Hill's, "More Than This," tells the story of Leticia, the youngest triplet who ended up in a group home in New Orleans. The beautiful Leticia learns life the hard way after being abused by men early in her young life. She uses her wit to get by and becomes the madam of an exclusive call girl operation. Living the good life three steps ahead of the local authorities has her relocating to Atlanta, New York and finally Florida in an attempt to run from the thing that she needs most: her sisters.
"Life's Little Mysteries" is the novella by Brown that introduces us to the story of the middle triplet, Jamilla. Adopted by a couple from California who could not have children of their own, she lives a life full of all the advantages an only child can have. On the surface she is satisfied and comfortable with her lifestyle until she is told that she is adopted and one of three triplets. Jamilla's feelings of disconnectedness and her lack of female friends become even more urgent.
In "The Journey," Forster's character Clarissa Holmes Medford is the eldest sister who was abandoned as an infant in a public restroom in Atlanta. She ends up in the foster care system never being adopted. She marries the first man that she encounters in an effort to put down some roots and be a part of a family. A kind, gentle spirit, Clarissa instead finds herself in an unfortunate situation, living in poverty in a loveless, abusive and adulteress marriage. She finally picks herself up and uses her musical gifts as a singer to make her way out of her tragic situation. Like her estranged siblings, Clarissa searches wide and far to find her sisters. It is Clarissa's journey that leads the sisters to one another.
The stories of three determined women who were born into desperation are a delightful read. Each story is full of emotion and life's lessons of love, hope and faith in the face of adversity. Each author paints a picture of well-developed characters that draw the readers to the heart of each woman. Readers will sit on the edge waiting for the big moment when the sisters finally find one another in a most surprising way. "Destiny's Daughters" is an uncomplicated trilogy any reader of mainstream fiction will enjoy. Forster, Brown and Hill finely craft each story, producing a wonderfully written book. A worthy and almost perfect read, I'd like to see a sequel written of how the sisters lives changed once their search ended. -Reviewed by Idrissa Uqdah for BAHIYAH Woman Magazine

Destiny's Daughters by Donna Hill, Parry"EbonySatin" Brown,&Gwynne Forster: An PeoplewholoveGoodBooks Review.......2006-01-23
Destiny's Daughters is a collection of stories by 3 of today's best contemporary authors: Donna Hill, Parry "EbonySatin" Brown, and Gwynne Forster. The story is about 3 sisters: Leticia, Clarissa, and Jamilla. They were separated from each other when they were only a few weeks old, and despite everything they have been through, never gave up on finding each other.
Donna Hill's story "More Than This" is about Leticia. Leticia has had a hard knock life and learned at an early age to use her good looks and body to get what she wants. After learning a raid is about to put an end to her successful call-girl business, she closes shop, changes her identity, and takes a trip to Miami. While there she gets more than she bargained after meeting Nathan, a man she finds herself falling for but after an old trick resurfaces, she must once again move on. After seeing a woman who closely resembles her on TV, she decides to go to the show to see if her long search is finally over.
Parry "EbonySatin" Brown's story "Life's Little Mysteries" is about Jamilla. Jamilla was the luckiest of the 3 as she was adopted by a good family and treated to the best of life. However after learning on her 13th birthday that she was adopted and part of a set of triplets, she begins to dream of finding her sisters and it begins to consume her life. Despite her success, Jamilla can't let go and after the private detective she hired comes up with a lead that turns out to be false, Jamilla finds herself on the verge of a nervous breakdown as she has become so obsessed with finding her sisters that it's beginning to cost her everything. One night while watching TV, she too sees a jazz singer with a face just like hers.
Gwynne Forster's story, The Journey is about Clarissa. After marrying at 18 to escape her foster family, Clarissa wakes up one day to and realizes how much of her life she has wasted and kicks out her cheating husband. Determined to follow her dreams and become a singer, she begins to find success after recording a demo and working in clubs. Of course, as quickly as her success begins, it all begins to fall apart but she too has had a sense of longing and wonders what happened to her long-lost sisters until they show up on her doorstep.
Destiny's Daughters is a wonderful collection of stories that will grab your attention as you can't wait to see what happens to Leticia, Clarissa, and Jamilla. You will enjoy each story and root for them as they not only find themselves but each other as well. I give this book 4 stars! Reviewed by Shay C of PeoplewholoveGoodBooks

Top-Notch Action-Fantasy.......2007-08-07
An unabashed 5 stars for this surprisingly well-written novel that's geared toward teens but really can be read by anyone who enjoys fantasy with a great, realistic herione and lots of non-stop action and thrills.
I have to say I seriously underestimated this book because it was fairly thin, and was part of a teen series. I was blown away, however, by how realistically rendered the characters were; especially Jenna, who, to my huge relief, not only used her head to make wise and moral decisions, but also had a clever tongue to go with her admirable personality.
Besides succeeding in characterization, the author also succeeds with the story. The book is extremely well-plotted, and you get the impression that the author already knows how everything will fit together at the very end of the series. The action never let up, and the dreams Jenna kept getting were a great plot detail because not only did they introduce mysteries/questions to answer in the future, but also answered some current ones. That way, the reader is excited to find out what's going to happen, but is not frustrated by not getting rewarded for his/her efforts.
And of course, what's a fantasy book without a romantic quandry? I'm happy to say that this is tastefully done and does not get in the way of the bigger goal: getting the boards. The villian is mysterious and evil enough to be scary, and the book is not afraid to go into more adult themes.
This is the third of the series but the first I've read. I'm definitely going to check out the other three, after this edge-of-your-seat read. It was everything I was looking for in a book, with something extra besides: a heroine that's cool, calm, and collected, and understands that there needs to be a balance between the head and the heart. What a breath of fresh air that was.
A Little Better.......2007-06-18
Jenna Solitaire has traveled to Pompeii with Simon Monk to try and retrieve the Board of Fire. The board was hidden by one of Jenna's ancestors in Mount Vesuvius. This action caused the volcano to erupt and destroy ancient Pompeii. The ghosts of those killed in the eruption are still wandering the island and many have taken to inhabit the local dogs. It turns out that Jenna's great-grandmother had a lover in the area before she journeyed to America. This old lover, once a priest, is still alive. He offers Jenna help in controlling the boards.
After Simon tries to find out more about his own past things begin to get sticky. But all things lead to Jenna having to go into the volcano and retrieve the board. Unfortunately an old prophesy says that when the board is removed, the volcano will erupt again thus destroying the area. How can Jenna get the board? How much help will her great-grandmother's lover be? What secrets will Simon learn about his own past? Will the forces arranged against Jenna be able to triumph? You will have to read to find out.
This one was a little better than the first two although there were some glaring continuity problems at the start. This is the first volume to mention needing a connection for the stolen Blackberry to work (still no mention of charging without a charger or how it could hook to European power outlets). At one point Jenna is saved by meeting the conditions of a prophecy. Later we find out those conditions were not met. How did she survive? Bad writing. It is also becoming clear that this four-book series is intended to be part of a larger work. A little better than the first two and I would put it at about 2 ½ stars.
Completely Amazing.......2007-03-13
I have read thousands of books so far in my life and spent several years recently as a bookseller... and still there are some books that just grip me and I can't let go of them. This series was like that for me.
This series is slated towards teens and I am definitely not in that age group, and I still love this series! I had to buy it for myself after reading the first one in advanced reader form (booksellers get these). I waited for the rest of the series and it was well worth the wait!
There are few books I read that have such a blend of humor, action, struggle, magic, wonder, and destiny. You can read this as lightly or seriously as you choose.
Jenna has taken me on a journey I wouldn't have had otherwise, and I wouldn't change that for anything!
Excellent series.......2007-01-22
Both my daughter and I loved the series. There is action, adventure, archaeology and mystery all rolled into one. We've read all four and can't wait for the next installment.
Another great addition!!!.......2006-11-26
I love this series. I am a big fan of the Fantasy genre and maybe have already read all the books there are and I was estatic to find another wonderful series to read. FIVE STARS!!! It's a keeper (LOL,:D, I crack myself up). Buy and read this now!!!!

Book Description
My name is Jenna Solitaire and everything I thought I knew about myself, my family, and my future is wrong. My life is not my own. It never has been. I just didn't know it-until now...After the death of her grandfather, nineteen-year-old Jenna Solitaire finds an ancient wooden board hidden away in the attic of his house. Scorched by fire and covered in mysterious symbols, the board fascinates her-and scares her-at the same time. As does Simon Monk, the handsome stranger who has come into her life, claiming to know about the board. Even more frightening is the voice whispering in Jenna's head, calling her "Keeper." Does Jenna have power over the winds, as Simon claims? Is she truly the Daughter of Destiny?

When the Wind Blows; for Fans of Charmed.......2007-04-11
Jenna Solitaire is the author and star of this novel. With the recent death of her grandfather, Jenna has really taken on her name. But at her grandfather's funeral things begin to change drastically for Jenna. There is a stalker at the funeral. Then her local priest introduces her to a former priest named Simon. Simon has made a study of Jenna's family line. There has always been one woman in each generation. That woman becomes the Keeper. Jenna is now the Keeper although she has never learned anything about it. Then she finds a spirit board in the attic and jokingly tries to contact her dead family. Unknowingly she awakens the board which is known as the Board of the Winds. Winds begin to blow.
Things really begin to get out of control quickly. While Jenna may be the Keeper, there are other forces out to get and control the Board. Simon wants to help Jenna. Jenna is the final branch in her family tree and known as the Daughter of Destiny. It will fall to her to find all of the Boards like the one she already has. Soon Jenna has to make some choices about her life as she, Simon, her friends, and her entire town become endangered by the awakened power of the Board and the evil people out to control it. Can Jenna gain control of the Board without it controlling her? Can she save those she cares about? Finally, will she be able to survive?
This is the first in the Daughter of Destiny series and, so far, the best of the three I have read. So far all of the books have glaring flaws throughout. In this one Jenna acquires the journal of the Keepers. For thousands of years the Keepers have added their stories to the journal. Never mind that they somehow all fit in one small volume or that books like this did not exist when the first Keeper wrote in it. While it is possible the book is magic so that it can hold all the information there is no hint that it has changed forms through the millennia. It would seem the author is a bigger fan of Charmed (everything in one simple book) than of Buffy (libraries full of information). I had better hopes for this but having read further into the series I have to say it has a similar lack of sense as Charmed. I would not recommend this unless you really like Charmed.

I was really surprised .. .. .. .........2007-03-08
.. .. at how good this series turned out to be. There are 4 books so far: Keeper of the Winds, Keeper of the Waters, Keeper of the Flames and Keeper of the Earth. The author's use of magic isn't over the top and she doesn't rely on it to carry the story. The anthropologist and historian in me really was fascinated with the detail in each book. I didn't stop reading until I'd had all four books read. I would definitely recommend this book series to any teenager or young adult.
Awesome series.......2006-12-17
I absolutly love this series and I've read a lot of books. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It's the young adult version of Radiers of the Lost Ark, with a female hero! Something that's not very popular in these HarryPotter-esque days. I love this book and I'm sure you will too.
This may be going somewhere.......2006-11-07
The Daughter of Destiny series starts out well, if not wonderful. While I'm not chomping at the bit to get to the next book, I am curious as to where the author will take things. The characters are fairly 2-dimensional, but they are likeable and have room to grow (hopefully) in the books to follow. The storyline is interesting, though far from novel. I gave four stars instead of three because the first book in a series is often lacking even if the series itself is wonderful- hopefully Daughter of Destiny fits this mold.

The Next Quest.......2007-04-11
Jenna has gained some control of the Board of the Winds and has set off with Simon to find the Board of Waters which seems to be somewhere near Jerusalem. The two are Joined by a guide who is a member of the Knights Templar. Jenna is immediately captivated by the handsome guide. By using the resources of the Knights, Jenna and company begin to narrow down their search. But research can not replace Jenna's connection to the Boards and her feelings point her in the right direction. Meanwhile, Jenna's opponents are manipulating events from behind the scenes in the hopes of gaining the Boards for themselves.
But nothing is easy. Simon and the guide keep fighting about Jenna. Desire and jealousy seem to be at the heart of the fights. Eventually the Trio narrow down the search (with a little help from Jenna's friends back in the States) and they set off to get the second Board. Truths are discovered and battles fought. Jenna continues to gain mastery of the first board although it keeps trying to gain control of her. Can she find the second Board, survive the plots against her, and work out things between Simon and the guide?
Right at the start of the book Jenna and Simon arrive in Israel. There they are met by their guide before going through customs. Simon even makes a comment about trying to find customs. With Israeli airport security in the news so much after 9/11 (because theirs is so tight) I found it hard to take this story seriously right from the start. These problems continue through the book almost to the end. The second Board has been hidden for millennia in a spot open to the air that archeologist are constantly searching. How they missed something that wasn't actually hidden is a mystery. I had thought this series would appeal to fans of Charmed but this book is more like Indian Jones (with shameless plugs actually in the text). Some of the revelations were interesting but did not make up for the poor plotting and research.

Wonderful!!.......2006-05-08
Jenna Solitaire is the most unique series yet!!! I just love how Jenna(the author not the main character) give the Boards a certain liveliness by express their personalities. Anyway, I definitely recommend this new series. I think this is the best series yet that come out and there should be more series like this.
This book is GGGGRRREEAATT!.......2006-04-16
Okay, so this book shows alot more depth then the last one, although the last one was a bit more lighter, this one shows more of what jenna can do. she has really master the board of the winds, but she hasn't mastered her judgement of character! some spots in the book will send chills down your spine! and the next book is going to have even more spooky parts in it... well i can't wait for the next installment! all and all a really good read!

Book Description
Brilliant new star Tracy Fobes bewitches again with a spellbinding paranormal tale set in Regency England, where a young lady sparkles in London society, unaware of the perilous forces gathering around her...
Daughter of Destiny
The power of druidism flows strong in Lady Georgiana Darleigh¹s veins. Born of two Welsh druids whose mystical talents exceeded all others in their time, she possesses the ability to create illusions. But fate has worked against her. Georgiana remains unaware of the power she commands, and is trapped in a marriage of convenience to Brock, Lord Darleigh. She is also a marked woman, the target of the Arch Druid who will see her dead before she fufills her destiny.
Raised in a society that favors ancestry and fortune over love, Brock married Georgiana for her money and, in so doing, secured her wrath. During the next two years he watched her bloom into a seductive and firtatious beauty. Now, he has grown desperate to have her at his side, and knows he must court her to win her back. But first Brock must erase the mistakes of the past and protect Georgiana from a treacherous destiny that only their love can overcome...
Customer Reviews:
IMAGINATIVE & HIGHLY CREATIVE.......2003-04-29
Tracy Fobes' skill in evoking an imagination of this magnitude as portrayed in Daughter Of Destiny is very impressive. The ability Georgiana's possessed in creating an illusion as befitting a "Becoming Guardian" is so detailed and convincing it makes this book a cut above the rest. This paranormal ability intertwining with the romantic aspect is a very delectable combination, not to mention the eerie feeling you get as the ever tightening threat kept closing in and makes you want more of the same from this author.
This is my first book of Tracy Fobes and I definitely plan to read more of her books.
Intiguing romance.......2002-02-15
This was the first book that I read by Ms Fobes. It was different than most of the romances I chose. I enjoy time travel and "different", but had never really read anything quite so mystical. The characters are very well defined and the plot moves along quite quickly in most cases. Georgina and Brock have a lot of obsticales in their way and how they come thru is unique. They are characters that the reader cares about right from page one.
The Durids involved in the basically regency type novel, are a touch that give the book the added special quality. I really could not predict some of the twists and turns - which helped hold my attention.
Yes, this was the first, but not the last for me by this gifted and talented storyteller.
Fantastic writer-great romance.......2000-08-29
Two years ago, Georgiana married Lord Brock Darleigh because she loved him. However, he hurt her when she learned that he married her for her money because he needed to save his estate and care for his mentally ailing mother. After hearing her sobs every night, a guilty feeling Brock decides to allow Georgiana her freedom by staying away from her.
Now Brock understands what he has thrown away in Georgiana. He decides he wants his wife and will do anything to regain her love and respect because he loves her too. However, his campaign to "court" Georgiana runs into a monster roadblock. Georgiana is one of three Guardians of Becoming Druids alive today. One of them has turned evil and wants her dead. The other is a younger person. Instead of simply wooing his spouse, Brock risks his life to keep her safe.
DAUGHTER OF DESTINY is an exciting tale that adds mystical elements to a Regency romance. The fast-paced story line is filled with action, drama, and tension. The lead couple is a charming, warm duo struggling with their estrangement and a murderous master malevolent maestro that is pulling the strings. Although the plot occasionally falters between the two story lines, Tracy Fobes provides her audience with a refreshing novel.

Customer Reviews:
History maker.......2003-01-24
Benazir Bhutto has acquired an eminent place in history of Muslim world. She is the first Muslim elected prime minister of any Muslim country in 1400-year history. This book, no doubt, is part of Pakistan's history now. She talks very eloquently about the atrocities that her family endured during long dictator ship of Asia's model dictator ZIA-UL-HAQUE, who overturned Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto's elected government in a military coup. Z.A. Bhutto had the courage to challenge the WHITE ELEPHANT, and subsequently loose his power and face assassination at hands of undemocratic and tyrant army supported by PNA (Pakistan National Alliance), a group of islamists backed by a foreign agency. Same religious group has gathered some political strength in Pakistan's political scenario, but has now been shunned by the same opportunist foreign agency. Benazir Bhutto talks a lot about the sufferings at hands of military but does not have same heart as ZA Bhutto to challenge her real enemies. This book is however a "must read" for those who are interested in the politics and history of this region. She has art to impress the reader and make her point clear.
Vivid, if incomplete, portrayal of Mrs. Bhutto.......1998-10-14
Benazir Bhutto is a striking personality-she is both hated and loved in Pakistan, very much Indira Gandhi on a somewhat smaller scale. Her autobiography begins with her reaction to her father's death-Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged by General Zia ul-Haq after a military coup and the pleadings of the world community. Throughout the book, Benazir paints Zia as the ultimate devil, the evil that consumed Pakistan and sent her family into prison or death. The book is extremely melodramatic in tone, but to me it was quite appealing-not as a portrayal of Mrs. Bhutto's personality but rather as another testament in the mixed reviews of her reign. The book ends with the votes about to be cast in her favor-and they did. Benazir was elected to two terms, but was dismissed by Pakistan's President and replaced by political rival Nawaz Sharif. She has been accused of financial laundering and at one time had an arrest warrant placed on her in Pakistan. Though her character is now under question, Benazir Bhutto still remains a well-spoken, articulate voice, and there is no better reflection of these qualities than in DAUGHTER OF DESTINY. She speaks without much bitterness-there is only moderate waxing of effluvium about the cruel fates her early destiny went through. Though, not having experienced life in Pakistan under her rule as Prime Minister, I cannot form any political or personal view towards Mrs. Bhutto, one thing is clear to me-she has the ability to make her voice heard. Whether or not she is 'defending' American airstrikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan or speaking of how she believes her brother's shooting death was related to a conspiracy to remove the 'Bhutto factor from Pakistani politics', Benazir has an articulate and clear voice. Now if only her morals and character were so lucid.
three ways to the power.......1997-10-29
Exciting book, really interesting story. Just read this book as three different ways (always linked)to target to the power: Ms Bhutto riformist way, the mother's bureaucratic way, the brother's revolutionary. And read Rushdie's Shame before or immediately after.
Melodramatic.......1997-06-30
At first, the book seemed to evoke a certain sense of sympathy from the reader as Benazir seemed to suffer a great deal from the Martial Law regime. However, seeing her in office twice, has raised serious credibility issues. In my opinion the real oppressor of Pakistan was not General Zia but ASIF ALI ZARDARI, who has "sucked" every penny from the Treasury and left more than 120 million people to starve
