He Loves Me, He Loves Me Hot by Stephanie Rowe.......2007-08-23
this is a great series, I got the 1st book from a friend and got hooked. read them all now, waiting for the new book. Rowe's books takes all the scary bump in the night creatures and puts a new twist on her stories mixing romance, mystery, the unknown then she adds her own little funnies to make her work original.
Somewhat less of a good thing..........2007-07-26
I have to admit that I read this a few weeks ago and when I got the email invite to review it, I had to ask myself, "Did I read that or not?" The first two books in this series were funnier and more entertaining with more interesting plots and heroes. This guy has a bit of a yawn. If you are a big fan, I would recomend this. Otherwise, it is just a filler novel in between more interesting series' like Aisling Grey.
Sexy, funny, tantilizing escape..........2007-06-27
I began my love affair with Stephanie Rowe after reading the second book in her series, Must Love Dragons. After completing that book, i quickly ordered the next book in the series, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Hot, and then after that, Date Me Baby One More Time.
Stephanie Rowe has the amazing talent of taking her readers away from the everyday and painting a flawless portrait of fearless bad girl heroines in a world of fantastic otherworld beings. The novels in this series take place in present day New York, and Rowe has manged to seamlessly intermingle the ancient world of dragons, curses, and sorcery into what might otherwise seem like everyday life. Her heroines are real enough (or unreal enough) to be one of your best friends, and her heroes are sexy enough to be one of your best dreams. Although the situations may be something out of this world, the root of the conflict tends to be something we can all relate to... finding a perfect match in the middle of your crazy, chaotic, oh so busy and very important life.
The humor in these novels has me laughing out loud repeatedly. Although I began this series backwards, I quickly fell in love with her characters and couldn't imagine not continuing their tale.
I can't wait for her next book, Sex & The Immortal Bad Boy, to hit the stands!
Light and Fun, barely anybody died........2007-05-21
Who'd have ever thought that hellish minions could be so cuddly?
That's the end?.......2007-05-10
I really enjoyed this book overall. After following along with Stephanie's hilarious and easy to relate to array of characters I couldn't wait for Becca's story to come to the front. The story started off pretty strong but it kind of pattered out to a rather anticlimactic finish. I guess I just felt like the author was either losing interest or getting distracted by the end. Satan is such a center stage character that I got the feeling he was stealing a lot of the glory. I certainly was more interested in what he was going to do next then some of the predictable exploits the other characters were reacting to. Perhaps the next book will be more focused on Satan and Satan Jr? I get the feeling the author is perhaps chomping at the bit to get that out there. I can't wait.

Another good vampire romance series.......2005-09-04
I loved Kiss Me Forever. Yes, there are a couple of discrepancies, but the book as a whole is so wonderful, that they don't matter much. Christopher (or Kit) and Dixie are terrific characters, their romance is believable, Laurey's vampire world is intriguing, and the suspense is just right. Expertly done. 5 stars.
Love Me Forever is not quite as good, leading to the lower overall rating. While Laurey spent a great deal of effort making the setting realistic (I currently reside in the area), the characters and especially the suspense were not quite as well-developed. More to the point, there are many editing errors -- some small like typos and some huge, like saying one thing but doing another or saying something had happened that that not. These things really mar an otherwise fine story and keep it from being as good as the first. Pity, Justin deserved better. Still, it's a good read, and Kiss Me Forever is excellent.
As I came to the end, shut the book and sighed, I felt like I'd lost a couple of friends..........2005-08-09
Dixie and Kit make the perfect couple, in this memorable romance.
KISS ME FOREVER (PART ONE)
Out of curiosity Dixie LePage travels from her home in South Carolina to Bringham, a small English village, to visit a house she inherited from her grandmother. Being on another continent, in an idyllic village, with a new fortune seemed the ideal opportunity to make space between her ex-fiancé, get over her grandmother's death and fix her twice-broken heart.
She hadn't counted on falling for a gorgeous; broad shouldered Christopher Marlowe who claimed to be the same man as the famous playwright and contemporary of William Shakespeare. Both of whom have been dead for hundreds of years. Christopher, (Kit to his friends) is a sensual, caring vampire who becomes equally besotted with Dixie; a sceptic, who must recognise the truth, before it's too late. Will Kit ever come to terms with loving a mere mortal? After all, she'll grow old and die, whilst Kit's pain would go on for eternity. If only they could be together, forever.
Despite this, more trouble is brewing in Bringham. It has something to do with the previous occupants, two eccentric great aunts from the Underwood side of her family whom she'd never met. They'd built up an extensive library of books on witchcraft and the occult, belonging to their father, a retired colonel from the Indian Army. Deciding to investigate further, Dixie moves into her newly acquired lodgings and extends her holiday. Oblivious to the fact that her family solicitor, Sebastian Caughleigh and his nephew James know more than they are letting on. By Abel!
Mr. Caughleigh has his own reasons for wanting to disrupt Dixie's plans and send her back on the next plane home. As a coven leader, Sebastian abuses his position and uses witchcraft against Ms. LePage and Kit, with the help of his witches, Sally, Ida and nervous Emily. Sebastian is determined to do anything in his power to defend the Underwood's secrets from being exposed, killing anyone who stands in his way. Including Dixie if needs be.
Luckily Kit becomes Dixie's protector, and with the support of his good friends, Dr. Justin Foruvs, Tom Kyd and the rest of their colony, they join forces to attempt to stop the evil Mr. Caughleigh, and his strengthening coven from ruining Dixie's life. Will they stop the murderous solicitor in time?
Kiss Me Forever is an exciting, contemporary vampire tale with a new slant of the ancient vampire legend. Believe me when I say `this is one of the most enjoyable paranormal / vampire romance books I have ever read!' Ms. Laurey's characters pulled me so deep into their story, my outside world ceased to exist for a couple of days. I loved the way Dixie was a lost American, having to cope with our alien British ways and the dialect of those who live up north! Kiss Me Forever is filled with everything I love in a paranormal romance; a detailed plot with lip-licking sex scenes, descriptive settings I could lose myself in and a gutsy female lead I wished I could be. As I came to the end, shut the book and sighed, I felt like I'd lost a couple of friends, Dixie and Kit. Wondering how their alternative relationship would last under pressure, and what I'd do without the suave presence of smooth talking Doctor Justin Forvus (whose charming character I adored). Well, as you know, this book comes in two parts. Kiss Me Forever is followed by Love Me Forever. So I snacked on something quick, and sat down to read the next book in this series. Imagine my whooping noises (of excitement) as I discovered the return of Doctor Forvus, and a couple of old friends!
Writing for Euro-Reviews. (PART ONE) Part two- next review...
Two Wonderful Romances In One Book!!!.......2005-06-11
This is the first time I've ever read Ms Laurey and needless to say it won't be the last! This read combined two full length stories that tie to each other and introduce us to some really yummy hero's that the reader is sure not to forget once the final page is read!
Ms. Laurey has taken the vampire legend and made it her own. Add to this fun characters, some nasty villans, and truly great romantic tension and the reader is set for an all encompassing read. Ms. Laurey truly has a wonderfully unique voice and her vampire romances are some of the best I've read in awhile. Justin, Christopher, Dixie, and Stella are characters the reader will enjoy. Secondary characters only add to the wonderful cast of characters. This book is truly worth picking up and I suggest adding it to your summer reading list.

great modern day gothic heroes.......2005-06-06
great book if you are into vampires.... I am a lover of Anne Rice novels so this one really took my fancy. the book I have has two novels in one. Hope she writes more about these characters, cause I really enjoyed them all!!
Too much too soon?.......2005-04-30
I really like Rosemary Laurey's easy-going writing style. And the way she shapes about her characters. However, there are a couple of details in this book that don't make sense to me. The first is that there doesn't seem to be any reason for the girl to fall for the vamp as quickly and as completely as she does in Kiss Me Forever. I felt as though I had missed something vital. All of a sudden she loves him, and all he did was help her look for intruders in her house! Quick as that! Also - she saves Marlowe and takes him to his pal vamps's house, where she is told the only way to save him might be for him to drink human blood . . . so of course she offers up herself. But then - oops - there seems to be plenty of blood kept in supply in the same house for "emergencies," such as her own blood transfusion right after giving up her own to Marlowe. Why did she have to give up her own blood if there was a supply kept in the house? Why didn't Marlowe's pal suggest the use of it? Did we miss something here as well?
I will read the next book Laurey writes, since I like her style. But I'm hoping there is at least a reasonably believable reason for the two main characters to fall in love in the next one . . . as well as plenty of bottled blood in the basement, so the poor heroine doesn't always have to come to the hunky vamp's rescue by baring her own neck.
Book Description
On the outside, Lauren Fairfield appears the very picture of cool, contained nobility and blueblood British sophistication. Inside, however, she longs for Tom, the charming rogue she loved–and lost.
Now a sinfully handsome would–be gentleman has arrived in London–and Lauren nearly swoons when she realizes it is her Tom, grown to magnificent manhood. He has come to claim his lost title as Earl of Sachse . . .and to fulfill an oath once made by two young lovers beneath a long–ago moon, a scandalous promise no proper lady would dare honor.
Lauren could never love a staid and stifling lord, and Tom's future is the aristocracy. So she will teach him their ways before she exits his life forever. But the wildness she adored still lives in Tom's heart–and he will not rest until he proves to the proud, resisting beauty that "forever" is a promise that must be kept . . .

a bit of a snooze.......2007-08-28
I rate this book 3 stars and it's epilogue 5 stars. I love a good epilogue and this had the best one I've ever read. The rest of the book unfortunately was a bit boring. I read it all, didn't feel the need to skip paragraphs, but there was no tension, no conflict really. The hero and heroine were nice but maybe a bit too nice. I like my hero to be a bit cranky and rough around the edges.
fantastic love story, worth more than 5 stars.......2007-02-13
What a wonderful love story. This was my first Lorraine Heath book, and I am now a big fan. I can't believe I actually let this book sit on my to-be-read pile for about 6 months. The story itself is a simple, tender, passionate and seductive tale of two young hearts, Tom & Lauren, that fell in love only to be separated when her family moves to England. They meet up again 10 years later, and it is clear there is still a great deal of love between them. However, they really don't know each other, as there were deceptions that kept their communications from each other all those years. During those years she never felt like she fit in, and wants to go back to Texas where women have more freedom. She agrees to help Tom learn society rules in exchange for passage to America. Tom uses it as an opportunity to get to know her again, and do they ever.
This isn't a fast paced, action packed hero-fights-the-evil-bad-man-and-saves-the-damsel-in-distress story, but it tugs at the heart and captivates you 100%. The sexual tension between these two could be cut with a knife. Tom was a wonderful "hero", and could make a girls toes curl with a simple smile or the word "darlin'". I loved him. Lauren was very likable too. She was sensible, smart and willing to do a little chasing as well as be chased by the hero. I found that really refreshing, as it seams in most romances the hero has to make all the moves and heroine is just a cardboard cutout waiting for him to make a move. I would give this book more than a 5 star rating if it was possible. It was that good.
WONDERFUL .............2006-12-09
This love story was so great, the story going from the present time of Tom and Lauren's life to the past at how they met was well put.The way they got to know each other as adults was really like you could understand the story to be real. And finally the ending was so beautiful, that I for one was spilling tear's of joy at the love and what the words:Promise Me Forever really meant to both of them....IT's a must read....
An unforgetable romance, just keeps getting better and better!.......2006-10-15
Another winner for Lorraine. I am not going to go through the plot since so many other readers did such a wonderful job doing it. I am just going to add; that I was always a sucker for a teenage romance that lasts forever, and this one is definitely it. The love story is spectacularly written. I agree with the other reviewer that the last few paragraphs almost leave you in tears. However a word of advice, please read Lorraine's books in order. Her website has it all outlined.
If you believe in true everlasting love, this book is for you.......2006-09-11
When Lauren was 14 and Tom was 15 they met and fell in love. Then Lauren moved away to England. Her mother destroys the letters that Tom sends to her and that she sends to Tom, so both think the other has betrayed their love when they meet again ten years later. They quickly realize what their mother did, but both are unsure if they still love each other since both are no longer the people the other remember.
This truly is a wonderful love story of true everlasting love. When Lauren gets hurt and Tom keeps a bedside vigil at her bedside reciting to her the letters she never received it'll be hard not to get a bit choked up.
Definitely up there with some of the best historical romances around.

Corny..........2007-02-20
I hadnt' read a Johanna Lindsey novel in many years and now I remember why. I picked this one up at a local library and promptly returned it a day later.
Among other complaints is the fact that I really could not like this leading man. He was too selfish. Prime example...he snuck into the heroine's bed and divested her of her virginity while she was still asleep and half drunk because he "thought" that she was giving him come hither signals. He just said the equivalent of "oops". This was at a time when a woman's virginity was the key to the rest of her life....come on
Graduate up a few levels and read Tempted by Virginia Henley for a truly remarkable historical romance set in Scotland. You will love Black Ram Douglass and get a taste of historical romance fiction for the more mature palate.
My Favorite Lindsey!.......2006-12-06
Kimberly Richards, daughter of the Earl of Amburough is still mourning her mother when her father decides to wed again-and his bride-to-be makes it clear she wants Kimberly out of the way. So it's off to the altar for Kimber-as soon as a bridegroom can be found. The only requirement seems to be that he not be a Scot-Kimberly's father has even less love for Scots than he seems to have for his own daughter.
Lachlan MacGregor, Laird of Clan MacGregor must seek a rich bride for the betterment of his clan. The gathering he's been invited to has plenty of such women-but he's still enamored of his host's wife (whom he didn't know WAS his host's wife, the Duchess of Wrothston from Man of My Dreams) from the time he tried to kidnap her from the Duke (Devlin). He doesn't even notice Kimberly-in THAT way-because they get off on the wrong foot and he's convinced that she's impossible-although when he calls her a shrew, the ensuing silence does make him feel a bit guilty.
This IS my favorite of Lindsey's books. I like-no love-the character of Duncan, and have since he was first introduced in Man of My Dreams. He's a bit of a scalawag-quite a bit, actually *G*-and he's irresistible. Kimberly's meetings with Duncan always seem to be at the wrong time and in the wrong circumstances-and he's always disturbing her sleep.
First, at the inn she stops at (where she meets him in the hall the next morning and takes his head off) on her way to the Wrothston's home, then at the Wrothston's home itself-and this while she's trying desperately to get some rest because she is ill. Duncan's ill-judged attempt at an apology the next morning only exacerbates their mutual dislike as Kimberly is much less than gracious about it.
Watching as Kimberly, sporting a red nose and not very attractive gowns, and Duncan, the quintessential rogue and ladies man, wrangle and bicker their way toward true love makes this one of Lindsey's more entertaining stories-she does do Scots rather well. Also, cranky women. *G* Highly recommended.

So much better!.......2006-11-11
Had read Man of my Dreams and hated it. Started reading this one much later not realizing it was the same author at first. Like Night and Day.
A Sassy Down-To-Earth Romance That Keeps You Smiling!.......2006-10-05
This book is the Sequel to the story of "Man of My Dreams" whose main characters were the Duke and Duchess of Wrothston's, Devlin & Megan.
I just love the Heroine Kimberly Richards! She is outspoken and strong, but not to the point of being obnoxious. I hate when they are so "strong" that everything is an argument or viewed distasteful. It gets to be so annoying! Anyway Kimberly is sent to stay with the Wrothston's in order for them to find her a husband quickly at the request of Kimberly's cold father who wants her gone.
Our Hero Lachlan MacGregor is a gem! He is a handsome and charming but not in a sappy way. I feel in love with him! He also comes to the Wrothston's in need of a bride. His aunt (by marriage) is related to the Wrothston's.
Unbeknown to him is that the Duchess of Wrothston, Megan is the woman that he tried to kidnap from Devlin a year or so ago and got his behind kicked by Devlin for it. He thinks Megan is the most beautiful creature that he has ever seen and feels that he is in love with her. When he sees Megan again he thinks that it is faith and that they belong together. He wants to steal her away from Devlin. On the first meeting he doesn't even notice Kimberly, too busy looking at Megan. But Kimberly notices him.
I was smiling to myself while reading the book. Lachlan and Kimberly of course get off on the wrong foot but soon sparks begin to fly. Their banter is charming and witty. And that banter and their disagreements make him take notice of her. And what I love is Kimberly is not a ravishing beauty who has men falling at her feet. She is on the "plain" side but has a nice figure and beautiful violet eyes. I loved how Lachlan starts to notice Kimberly first by her standing up to him, how she sparked his anger and lust in a way his "love" Megan couldn't. I loved the way he starts noticing the beautiful color of her eyes and her curvy figure while getting to know her. It is definitely refreshing reading a story where the Hero & Heroine don't love each other at first sight. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it makes for a great read but is overdone in romance novels! This story was more realistic but nerveless romantic!!!
The only thing I found a tad annoying was the Duke and Duchess of Wrothston, especially Devlin! At one point he is beating the heck out of a drunken Lachlan I was like, "what the hell"? But don't think Lachlan is a sissy. He is still an Alpha male but was half gone from being drunk. Anyway Devlin is stuffy and Megan is...I don't know...maybe it's just me but didn't really feel her. They were ok in the end but I could have done without them in Lachlan & Kimberly's story! I haven't read "Man of My Dreams" and their characters in this book doesn't inspire me too. JL wasted a couple of pages on them.
I love this book! It is a keeper and one of my favorites. I view books as being keepers when I can read it again and again without being bored. I don't understand how anyone would not like it. It's refreshing from the same old tired plot!
Johanna Lindsey is a great writer and I love almost all of her books! Another great author I recommend is Teresa Medeiros, especially "Thief of Hearts"!
Better than it's prequel.......2006-06-21
This book was a far better enjoyable read than it's prequel.
I was so disappointed with Man of my dreams, that I was prepared to not read this, but my new books hadn't come yet so I forced myself to pick it up.
This is a story about Kimber who has just finished her one year mourning period for her mother, her father an Earl wants to remarry and the new countess doesn't want to share her home, so Kimber is sent to the Duke and Duchess of Wrothston's (The Hero and Heroine from man of my dreams) Sherring Cross home to be matched up with an Eligible bachelor Lachlan.
The scotman (Lachlan) only has eyes for his bonnie sassenach Megan (The Duchess, who he tried to abduct and marry in man of my dreams). Lachlan still fancies himself in love with Meagan and has eyes for no one else.
In one night of drunken spur Lachlan and Kimber make love and their love story begins.....
Though the story kept me interested, I gave this book 3 stars because of that first night between Lachlan and Kimber, their lovemaking was like 2 sentences long, I had to go back and read the part were she lost her virginity, it was as if I was reading another casual line in the novel, not someone loosing her virginity and being bedded for the first time.
I was also whirling with the countless number of people I had to keep up with, most of them had nothing to do with the plot and it was a waste of novel reading about these idle characters.
One thing I did like about this novel is that even if I hadn't read man of my dreams, I still would have been appraised of Megan and St Ambrose's story (Duke and Duchess). It was as if I was reading two stories in one, maybe the Author felt the need to re introduce those two characters to do them the justice she failed to do them in their own story.
Other than those two minor tidbits, while I would not rate this book as a great book, it was not bad either, but it was a very enjoyable read.

Okay Read.......2007-08-15
I did not like either main characer in this book!
Lily tried to gain a loose reputation in order to prevent marriage. She gets saddled with Hawk who needs her money to fund his 3 American ships to fight the British.
This story got so boring and repetitive.
Both characters needed a "thump" on the head to stimulate some--much needed--brain cell activity. LOL
It was interesting...alot of I hate u don't touch me, I love u touch me.......2006-02-16
If you love the I hate u don't touch me, I love u touch me *smiling* this is the book for you, its what i would expect from Connie Mason but let me tell you the sex scenes are crazy in a good way they did alot of it ok i think the book had steam coming from it...
Matt and Lily had that there is a thin line between love and war thing going on with each other i mean he was honest in the beginning and came flat out and told her he wants to marry her for her money because he needs it, thats kinda a first for me reading about the heroe wanting to marry the heroine for money and it works out, the only thing i didn't like is that he was away at sea most of the time..The best part for me is both Lily and Matt being trapped on the isolated island for months i think thats when they really started to connect...
As i have always said if you like Connie Mason you will like this book and know what to expect from her writting style and if your not a fan of Connie Mason and think this might be the the typical formula and plot of writting then this ain't for you...
I hate you, hate you, love you, hate you, hate you, love you.......2004-01-09
This story was good, but a bit long and repetitive. 3/4 of the book is spent with the leading lady (Lily) telling the leading man (Matt) she hates him and doesn't want him. She has good reason. He sets out to get her hand in marriage because he wants her dowry. She doesn't want to get married, so he almost rapes her to put her in a position where she'll have no choice but to marry him. He stops at the last minute, but they are seen by Lily's step- mother. Lily's father insists that they marry. Matt gets his money.
Over the next months, they fight non- stop. Lily believes Matt is still seeing his mistress. Matt believes Lily is falling for his lawyer. Still, they have a passionate sex life. The love scenes are great, although it gets old seeing each of them begin with Lily protesting and saying "Stop. I don't want you." Matt manages to change her mind each time, followed by Lily swearing that it will never happen again.
The couple end up stranded alone on a desert island. They are there for a couple of months. They finally open up to one another and fall deeply in love. Finally, a break in the complaining and fighting. This part of the story is encouraging.
As soon as they are back in civilization, all of the old themes repeat themselves... they are suspicious of one another, Lily "doesn't want" Matt, etc... They have a huge fight as Matt goes off to fight in the war between American and England.
In the end, all is solved and love prevails.
I love Connie Mason, but I just didn't enjoy this story as much as others. I believe Connie's medeival romances are her best.
Connie Mason at her BEST!.......2002-11-18
I loved this story and couldn't take myself from it from the very start. It's the kind of story, Ms. Mason is known for. Passionate and real characters with the backdrop of the American Revolution behind their story of learning to trust and love one another.
Matt is the American cousin of English nobility. He is invited to the coming-out ball of young and vivacious Lily Montage, given to by her father who wants to make peace with his bride-to-be by getting his daughter married and out of the house.
Matt had made it no secret that he was only marrying Lily for her inheritance so that he can arm his ships to go back to war with England.
Through a tale of mistrust and deception (on the part of Matt's former mistress) and being shipwrecked on a deserted island, Matt and Lily learn to love with their bodies before they find the love in their hearts that has always been there from the start.
A wonderful, fast paced read, don't miss this book!
Very Good, Emotional.......1999-10-14
Matt married Lily for money and never denied it. Lily being shunned by her Father when he wanted to marry a woman who didn't want her around. I got so mad at both of them neither would admit they loved the other until they both thought that they has lost the other. As always you feel as though you are right there living the story with the characters. Very good Story.

Great read with terrific imagination!.......2004-03-03
This book is actually 4 1/2 stars!
The three complete novels are great! My favorite is Kiss of the Night Wind, then Follow the Wind and then Promise me forever.
Book Description

Once a fierce warrior who charmed many a woman into bed, he is now a broken man, shattered by war. But caring for Brianna seems to heal the scars on his soul...and open his heart to the redemptive power of love.

Bored to tears!.......2007-03-13
While this book starts out in an interesting way it quickly becomes bogged down with boring, tedious, repetitive dialogue. The characters say the same things to each other over and over again. Nothing happens until almost 2/3 of the way into the book. Even then, it is very slow moving and somewhat predictable. I have never read anything else by this author and I probably won't after this. My advice: pass on this one and read something else, maybe something by Jo Beverly or Heather Cullman (just for examples).
Why bother?.......2004-10-07
There's really no point to reading this novel beyond Page 27; that's when the author takes a deep breath, and summarizes what will happen to the hero and herone for the rest of the book (and the rest of their lives, while she's at it). This occurs via the hero's reminiscence of a very detailed prophecy by his dearly departed Grandmother, all in one paragraph. Not only that, but we are told exactly how many kids they'll have, which I have no doubt prophesizes how many other books will be generated for this family as a series. Doubtless, we will see each of the kids grow up to have their *own* star-crossed romance book by the author.
I despise this writing device giveaway. As a reader, what's the point of my continuing? The suspense is gone. The illusion mystery of events unfolding beyond that point has vanished. It serves as a gigantic spoiler for the rest of the book. Was the author trying to show how clever the late Grandmother was, at the expense of the rest of the book? Or is the prophecy wrong? I doubt it. In which case--once again--what was the point of telling it to us at all?
A Wonderful Love Story..........2003-12-31
This is my first book by this author, so I'm out of sequence on the stories. I absolutely loved this book. You can't get better than Chieftain Royce Campbell as a hero! Every line he uttered was manly, perfect, never whiny, and was in fact, quite perfect. He was also VERY handsome, and very intelligent. I thought the story moved along just fine; a sweet love story. It takes good writing to keep lengthy scenes going, as this author did when Brianna and Royce remained in the cabin so long.
But no book is perfect: I thought Brianna was a little immature. Take the giggles, for example. She also kept saying, "It's my decision," like a petulant child. Royce and her brother Ian led her to believe she'd made her own "decision" many times, when in fact they had merely placated her. That's the way I saw it, anyway.
This book left a lasting impression on me. I loved it.
Not one of Ms. Fletcher's best works.......2003-07-24
Courtesy of The Best Reviews
Brianna Cameron had lived the past few years in fear - fear of the dreadful man she had married. He was known to abuse her often, with words and actions. When she learns of his death she is elated, for now she can have the freedom she had thought out of her reach forever. Until a carriage accident leaves her badly injured and alone, her two traveling companions killed.
Royce Campbell had retreated to a small cottage to recover from the wounds of his most recent battle, wounds of both the physical and psychological kind. While out hunting one day, he happened upon a destroyed carriage, two dead men, and one gravely injured woman. He takes her to his cottage to help her recover, giving up his much desired solitude for healing.
When Brianna awakens, and first sees the hideously scarred visage of her rescuer, she screams in fear and promptly passes out. Upon wakening, she slowly comes to realize Royce means her no harm and allows him to continue her care. As they spend this time isolated together over many weeks, she learns he is an honorable man who truly cares for her, nothing like her late husband. She grows to love this wonderful man, and he her, and they decide to wed as soon as she is well enough to travel home to her brother, Ian, her guardian since the passing of her husband.
Fate has other plans for these star-crossed lovers. What Brianna doesn't discover until later, is that Royce is a legendary warrior, feared by even the strongest of men. Upon learning this, she begins to doubt the man who has shown her nothing but love, respect, and kindness. Just as she comes to accept him for whom he is, fate intervenes once again, throwing a surprising twist at them, just after they have said their marriage vows. Their love must now face the ultimate test, to determine if she can love him forever.
What should have been a wonderful story falls flat for this reviewer. For most of the story, the plot is very slow and not overly exciting. Over half of the book is all about Brianna's recovery, having her sleeping or lying in bed. There isn't a whole lot of action until much later. The primary storyline takes too long to develop, making this reader wonder if anything was ever going to happen. When the story finally picks up, there still doesn't seem to be much there.
Having read, and enjoyed, most of Ms. Fletcher's other works, one can only hope this tale is a fluke occurrence and that future books will prove more indicative of her talents. Other readers may enjoy this story though, even if this reviewer was unimpressed.

A Very Romantic And Sensual Read!!!.......2003-05-28
This was a very romantic read--just what you read romance books for right?
The love story between Royce, and Brianna is touching and poignante set in the Scottish Highlands and will keep you glued to the pages until the end.
Royce is a warrior that has been injured both physically, and spiritually. He goes to a remote cabin to heal. While out hunting he finds a carriage accident and only one survivor who is Brianna. What he doesn't know is that he has found his heart.
Brianna is going away after the death of her cruel husband Arran. She is rescued by Royce and he takes care of her and heals her not only physically but mentally as well. Brianna also heals Royce spiritually and together they find love. Their love is strong, but it is tested. The trials and the tests that these both are put through only reaffirm their love for each other but at what cost?
This is a sweet novel and one that will grab your attention from the beginning. Although there are a few areas where the story was slow I still felt that overall the book was a keeper.
