McLeod has entranced my 3 year old boy and my 6 year old girl. He wears capes, she draws more heroes. I read this book to students in K-3rd grade with great response from students. "I'm him!" "Ooh, gross!" We learned new vocabulary too. The teachers all asked to order copies for their classrooms.
Kids really respond to this boook.......2007-02-24
I used this book to begin my daughter's 5th birthday party and all the kids- both girls and boys absolutely loved it. They really responded to the book's imaginative characters and details, especially the gross and silly ones. After reading the book together we had a make-your-own superhero mask and cape activity and the kids were totally fired up for it. I highly recommend this book!

Great Series.......2007-09-19
I would recommend you start at the beginning of this series...I thought this book was wonderful and further devolped some of the new characters. I am looking forward to the next release...often I think about the characters and wonder what is going to happen to them.
We originally purchased these for our 12 year old daughter and I picked up the first book one day in the office and pleasantly enjoyed it...now I am hooked! This series is a great read for adults too and gives another connection point with the kids in discussing them.
The Icebound Land (Ranger's Apprentice, Book 3).......2007-09-14
This was a great book, although it leaves you hanging waiting for the next book of the series. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next few books in the series.
From word one to the cliffhanger, it is a great read.......2007-09-14
Australian author Flanagan originally wrote this series to encourage his twelve-year-old son to love reading. The Ruins of Gorlan is Book One, and The Burning Bridge is Book Two. The setting is vaguely medieval Europe, with interesting details of battle, weapons, and character.
Rangers are a branch of service to the King of Araluen, skilled at woodcraft and longbow, and many people think they have a command of magic. Halt is a skilled Ranger, one of the best. He can disappear into a tree (or give that impression) and can fire a fatal arrow in seconds, even through the eye slit in a knight's visor. His apprentice, Will, and the young girl Evanlyn have escaped unscathed from a terrible battle, only to be caught by a raiding party of Skandians led by Jarl Erak. Halt is not allowed to go after them, so he arranges for the King to banish him for treasonous comments made in public, and he and the young knight Horace set off to Gallica, to find Will.
The chapters alternate between the stories of Will and Evanlyn as prisoners with the Skandians, and Horace and Halt on their trip through Gallica. Halt is old and very wise. He is able to teach the young knight Horace a thing or two about strategy and honor on their travels. Will is able to help Evanlyn during the short sojourn on the island of Skorghijl, waiting out the winter storms with the raiding party, and also keep up his spirits and fitness. But when they return to Jarl Erak's home of Hallasholm, Evanlyn is made a house slave, and Will becomes a yard slave, toiling in terrible cold until he becomes addicted to warmweed, and forgets who he is. Jarl Erak respects Will's bravery and skill, and hates to see him addicted and treated so poorly. He decides to help Will and Evanlyn try to escape.
This adventurous series is designed with cliffhangers at the end. You will definitely want to read the coming books. Book Four is coming out in March of 2008 - I can hardly wait.
Armchair Interviews says: Wonderful young adult book for all to enjoy.
Love this series.......2007-09-11
I'm addicted, and will likely start ordering the books from England when they are released there.
Way better.......2007-09-02
This one is way better than the first 2, so much that i'm surprised I ever read the first 2 without knowing how good this one was. There is virtually no character development but everything else makes up for it. They could have easily put the 3 books together, smoothed out the endings and it would be less embarrassing to read in class when I'm known for coming to school with 900 page books.

Book Description
Bracing for a final clash with the evil warlord Morgarath, the Rangers rally the kingdom's allies, and Will is chosen, along with his friend Horace, as special envoys to nearby Celtica. But the simple mission soon takes an unsettling turn - the Celticans have disappeared, their town abandoned. The scheming hand of Morgarath, it seems, has been far from idle. He has found a way to bring his legions over the once impassible eastern mountains and is planning to ambush the king's army in a rout. Now with help many miles away, Will and Horace are the only ones standing in the way of the dark lord's plans. They have shown great skill and courage in their training, but how will they fare in the face of true evil?
With bigger battles and higher stakes, John Flanagan's epic adventure charges ahead with this rousing follow-up to The Ruins of Gorlan.

Great Book.......2007-10-09
I think this book was a very good book with many advetures, turnes and twistes. This book is the kind of book for someone who loves adventure. The first book is alot better than this one but that is only my opinion. This book is about Will a orphan who has been apprenticed to a ranger Halt. King Duncan is fighting with the rangers and nights are fighting lord Morgrath and his Wargals. I am not giving away the ending but i would appreciate if u went to my site www.simmer27.wordpress.com .
ranger's apprentice the burning bridge.......2007-10-08
This book is a fascinating book for advanced readers. This book is a book packed with action and fantasy.I encourage people to read this book with enthusiasm.
Still Great.......2007-07-04
I would really give this book 4.5 stars. Burning Bridge has the same great characters and action as the first book. However, the story is a little scattered. Rather then having one over arching story line for the book, there was the main story, an unrelated not really needed but fun substory, and the set up for the next book. All these parts were good by themselves, the book just didn't seem that unified. Once again the writing is great. The characters are interesting and learn from their mistakes. The series is clearly still going strong. A very enjoyable book.
A terrific continuation of the series!.......2007-07-01
My son and I loved this book for the same reason we loved The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger's Apprentice, Book 1). The varied and well-drawn characters, the humor and the excitement gave us happy hours together. What a wonderful way to connect with my son!
A great series! Discovering greatness and picking up momentum..........2007-07-01
I picked up Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan with my Giftcard at Books-A-Million about a year ago, tucking the book home and quickly read it. It became one of my favorite series (right up there with Symphony of Ages by Elizabeth Haydon and The Obsidian trilogy by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory). I adored the book and placed it in with all my other treasures.
Recently I got The Thief Queen's Daughter (The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme) by Elizabeth Haydon in hardcover and read it under five hours. The book was fantastic, and I loved it! It being just as good as The Floating Island, the first novel of T.L.Js.O.V.P. I than recieved Ranger's Apprentice: The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan a few days later.
I read the book under four hours. I loved it! The ending somewhat caught me off gaurd when Morgaroth dropped dead so easily, I was shocked. It astounded me that John Flanagan killed him off so easily, and it made me love the series more because this was something diffrent from all the other epic fantasy novels I've read in the past. Evil kept on fighting tooth and nail, not in this series, at least! And I actually started crying in the end when Halt waved and cried out for Will that he would come and find him after Will was taken aboard the Skanadian vessel! I can't wait for The Icebound Lake to come out in paperback!
As well as the future novels:
Ranger's Apprentice: The Oak Leaf Bearer, book 4.
Ranger's Apprentice: The Sorcerer in the North, book 5.
Ranger's Apprentice: The Siege of Macindow, book 6.
Also, John Flanagan mentioned that he might write a book about Halt the Ranger, his past and training. Looking forward to see that book in the future, Flanagan!

The Second Captain Underpants Collection: Book 5-7 and Adventures of Super Diaper Baby.......2007-09-09
We are huge fans of Captain Underpants! "Tra-La-Laaaaa!". We have set one and I purchased this one as an early Christmas Present. Yes, it's still in hiding. We have read all these books before via library though. They are a hoot! My 7 year old son(he reads on a 5th grade level) and I read them to my 5 year old daughter. We all giggle! We love the adult characters' names: Ms.Ribble, Miss Anthrope, Mr. Rected to name a few. How clever! If you want a fun, silly read this is a must buy for you and your family. I call them my guilty pleasure. Enjoy!
The best for new readers.......2007-07-20
I have a seven year old son that will take his books anywhere! This time last year as he was entering the 1st grade, it was a task to get him to read. He would be frustrated and so would I. I ordered all of those books that we get from the other companies and he was just beyond that. It was not fun to him and we happened to be in a book store and he started looking at this book. He told me that someone had it in school. He has been hooked every since, and he understands the story line. It is also not one of those books that you think is for children and has adult undertone, it is just as goofy as he is and he loves it and I love it for him!!!
Captain Underpants Collection Books 5-7.......2007-02-20
I purchased this series for my eight year old son and he loved them!
There is something about boys and "potty" humor that I will never understand, but these stories hold his attention and he is reading!
The language is innocent, not more grown up then I want him to be at eight and I think that the illustrations help the stories along for my son.
He loves them and I would tell any parent trying to find something their boys would read to try these books!
Just to let you know, if you purchase the 1-5 Collection as well, you get a book overlap and end of with two "Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space".
Great for little boys!.......2007-02-15
This is NOT classic literature, but my 6 and 8 year old little boys are more excited about reading than ever! They raced to see who could finish first. The younger one begged me to read to him so he could catch up to the older one who was reading on his own. If you are having a hard time getting little boys interested in books, this will help. You just need to get pasted the "potty humor."
Tra - Laa - Laaaa.......2007-01-17
My son LOVES these stories! He is 8. I introduced him to Captain Underpants last year and he reads and re-reads them, all on his own. Any books that can stand up to Game Cube and Xbox is a winner in my veiw! the stories are funny and interesting, I have read them all myself and though occasionally the comic books mis-spelled words really get to me (I mean my kid keeps wondering what these words are since they are not spelled the way he thinks they should be (the right way)) but that's a small point really. His friends also enjoy Captain Underpants a lot.
It's a good way to get them to practice reading and to show that there is more to fun than video games.

I am the Messenger.......2007-10-09
I am the Messenger
By: Marcus Zusak
This book is a realistic fiction/mystery. This book is about a under aged cabbie driver named Ed. Who has done pretty much nothing meaningful in his life in till one fateful day when he stopped a bank robber. From that day forward his life got very interesting. He started to receive aces in the mail. On each card there were clues. Ed is faced with a difficult task he has to first solve the clues on the card and then he had to help a person. His best friends Marv, Audrey, and Ritchie give him advice along the way. Ed has to complete five cards in order to finish. Can Ed and his three best friends figure out the clues? If he fails he will be killed. Ed makes a lot of new friends and enemies in his adventures. He also realizes things about his friends he never knew before. This is Ed's time to shine but is he up to the task? This book related to my life because it showed me that any normal Joe can step up to the biggest obstacle and defeat it. That somehow affects my life because it taught me that lesson. I read this because it sounded like a great book. I loved how the author made the characters interesting and real. The plot was very original and exciting. The connection between the characters was very believable. The setting description is pretty vivid and the plot wasn't all that great but on the whole it is a very good book. It was truly a book that I couldn't put down until I finished it. I do not recommend it for younger kids because it is a mature book but I do recommend it to teens and young adults.
Ordinary Heroism.......2007-09-20
Though many people dislike the book's ending, I found it quite fitting. Zusak inspires readers with his creation of an ordinary hero. Ed motivates adults and teens alike to save the world. Just as Ed receives minimal information outlining his mission, we too must emerge from our lives of self-absorption and extend ourselves.
How does Ed save others? He watches, waits, and delivers. Though the action may be small, the kindness is powerful. This taxi-driving youth's understanding of people's need is astounding. Telling a young runner she possesses beauty. Bringing an old woman a past love. Reuniting a friend with his lost child. And, ultimately, giving himself the greatest gift of all.
This book is a fast read, not only because of the simple writing style, but also because of my lack of patience in awaiting Ed's next mission. Few can read this book and not be encouraged to create their own lives full of LIFE.
Yes -- a Bad Ending CAN Cost You a 5-Star Review.......2007-09-20
A very good concept, tight writing, interesting characters -- and an absolutely awful ending. That's a shame -- the idea of a young man being forced by a mysterious stranger to engage with the people around him and become an active participant in his own world is marvelous. The characters are crisply drawn, the plot is novel and charming, and the prose is quite well executed. So: the author couldn't sustain it, and didn't really know how to end it. Big deal? Yes- when the cop-out is of this magnitude. Don't bother with this one -- it's just too long a book and too compelling a mystery to invest your time in for such a terribly misguided denouement.
Curious.......2007-09-07
I really enjoyed "The Book Thief" by Zusak. I was curious about this "I am the Messenger" and really enjoyed it. I am always pleased to see that an author is diverse and not writing the same book over again. I am not sure why his books are classified as YA. There is a lot of sex in "Messenger" for a 9th grader. I like his style and ability to insert prose.
I thought is was a good ending - one to discuss with others.
When Life Deals You a Bad Hand..........2007-09-03
Australian YA author Markus Zusak's I AM THE MESSENGER is a likable little production wherein lovable loser, Ed Kennedy the Taxi Cab Driver, ultimately makes the fare of his life by figuring out, then fulfilling, the strange missions left in his letter box. These cryptic tasks are written on playing cards -- the aces, to be exact -- and all involve helping others to find their Frank Capra moments (It's a Wonderful Life meets Oz). Ultimately, "the messenger" (the original title, by the way), delivers a moral which is uplifting, even if the plot used as a vehicle is not entirely believable. Nevertheless, endeared readers will willingly go along for the ride and feel all the better for it once they arrive.
Strengths of Zusak's novel include characterization and suspense. Among Ed's card-playing band of not-so-merry losers are Marv, a money-hoarding loner; Ritchie, a ne'er-do-well, lazy, professionally-unemployed type; and Audrey, the requisite, sad-eyed beauty who calls Ed her best friend while calling many other males her lovers. Man's best friend is amply represented by the Doorman -- Ed's smell-to-the-high-heavens German Shepherd -- and heavies Keith and Daryl, who put the hurt on him in their own inimitable style, giving the novel a twisted comic kick. Ed's mom? She loves to hate him. His brother Tommy? He gets all the girls and attention. And his alcoholic father? Alas, he took his last mortal swig a year before the story's first page.
Zusak pulls the ensemble together for a predictable conclusion (though you best leave logic at the door when it comes to the "mystery character"). Young readers will love the book's brisk style which includes many, many one-sentence paragraphs. And teachers will want to stock this for classrooms of high schools only -- despite the cheerful life lessons, the book is heavy with the sort of profanity that might raise all but the most liberal middle school parents' (or the school committee's) eyebrows. Adults as well as teens can enjoy the book, however, as its winsome style and free-wheeling protagonist will make all but the most hard-hearted reader want to cheer Ed on as he finally plays the winning card...

Product Description
After his parents die, Jeffrey Lionel Magee's life becomes legendary as he accomplishes athletic feats and other extraordinary exploits that awe his contemporaries. Paperback.
Amazon.com
Maniac Magee is a folk story about a boy, a very excitable boy. One that can outrun dogs, hit a home run off the best pitcher in the neighborhood, tie a knot no one can undo. "Kid's gotta be a maniac," is what the folks in Two Mills say. It's also the story of how this boy, Jeffrey Lionel "Maniac" Magee, confronts racism in a small town, tries to find a home where there is none and attempts to soothe tensions between rival factions on the tough side of town. Presented as a folk tale, it's the stuff of storytelling. "The history of a kid," says Jerry Spinelli, "is one part fact, two parts legend, and three parts snowball." And for this kid, four parts of fun.
Maniac Magee won the 1991 Newbery Medal.
Customer Reviews:
A lesson in tolerance.......2007-07-08
During my years as an elementary and high school librarian, I read all of the Newbery Award winners from 1922 on. Jerry Spinelli's "Maniac," the 1991 winner, is one of my favorites both for its humor and its very effective message about learning and living tolerance for those who are different from us. Vona Van Cleef, bookwoman
A Child Fights Racism.......2007-06-14
Jeffrey Magee's parents wre killed in a train accident when he was just a child, so he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle, who hated each other. He couldn't stand the tension between them, so he ran away. And boy could Jeffrey run. After a year of running, he ends up in a town he really likes. His first day there, he meets a black girl who reluctantly lends him a book from her vast collection. He amazes people all day in both the white and black sections of town, and he decides to stay. He spends his nights in one of the animal pens of the zoo, where he can eat some of their food and have their companionship. Soon he is famous in town and is given the name Maniac.
Maniac spends his time in town befriending a wide variety of people, and trying to confront and stop the racism he observes all around him.
This book is a nice story of innocence . Jeffrey is always trying to do the right thing, and the people in town take him in very openly. However, it seems that someone in this story should have tried to find Jeffrey's guardians and should have made him go to school instead of just letting him wander. I didn't like that the book didn't really have any conclusion; it was just a series of events.
When I was a child..........2007-06-13
I read this book at 10, and it's been with me ever since. The themes on racism and courage still resonate when I stumble upon similar experiences. It is deeply moving--so what if some questions are never answered! (A fact I honestly don't recall...) It's in my children's library.
Maniac Magee... READ IT!!!.......2007-05-11
Jeffrey Magee is an orphan who is about 12 years old. He is funny, kind, and very daring. He lives in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, which has an east end for blacks and a west end for whites. Bridgeport is a very urban city with many people in it. The story takes place in the 1960's.
The plot begins when Jeffery is introduced as the main character. The central problem in the book is that Jeffery is an orphan and he cannot find a home. Throughout the story, Jeffery meets many people. Some of these people take him in to live with their families. But in the end, he always finds himself without a home.
The author, Jerry Spinelli, gives outstanding descriptions of his characters, which I think makes him a great writer. In this book, Jerry wants the reader to know how important it is to keep trying, even during times of great difficulty. If a person does not give up, something good will happen.
Maniac Magee.......2007-05-07
Maniac Magee
Maniac Magee was not the book for me. It wasn't my favorite because in some parts of the story it wasn't exciting. My favorite part was the beginning because it talked about all the theories that people had about Maniac Magee that weren't really true. In the end the author didn't answer all of my questions, like at the end I wanted to know if every one would be nice to each other, but even though it wasn't my favorite book I think Jerry Spinelli did a great job on it. I would recommend this book to anyone
Book Description
Magical heroes like Harry Potter, Spiderman, or Catwoman provide plenty of entertainment for kids, but in real life heroes are made of sterner stuff than celluloid fantasies. In this inspiring collection of biographies, critically acclaimed writer and psychologist Sandra McLeod Humphrey teaches young people that heroes were once ordinary people whose strength of character helped them to achieve extraordinary things. Starting with only their dreams, they worked hard and overcame obstacles to make their dreams come true. Some overcame physical handicaps, others psychological barriers like extreme shyness or feelings of inferiority; some faced racial discrimination or educational disadvantage, others financial burdens. In spite of these frustrations and discouragements, all of these people discovered in themselves the patience, perseverance, and determination to pursue their dreams beyond every obstacle. The message is clear: No matter who you are or where you come from, you too can accomplish extraordinary things, as long as you dare to dream and never, never, never give up!

Great for youngsters and those who look for inspiration but with short concentration span.......2007-06-12
If I were a teacher, I would definitely make this a required reading for all my students. It's short with only four pages for each character. However, the "As a boy" + "As a man" and "As a girl" + "As a woman" format, the smart pick of heroes/heroines and the excellent story writing skill of the author, well distinguished it from other biographies of the same high inspirational value and make it particularly suitable for children and people with short concentration span. Educational and interesting by all means. Highly recommended!
DARE TO DREAM - A Classroom Treasury.......2005-11-01
Dare to Dream: 25 extraordinary lives by Sandra McLeod Humphrey is so needed by our society, where violent solutions to conflict and demands for instant results are all too common.
Because a wide range of personalities is featured, each reader will identify with some of the characters. The individuals, each described as a young person and then as an adult, include: Nellie Bly, who used journalism as a tool for social justice; Jim Thorpe, a Native American who endured physical and emotional hardship and was known as "The World's Greatest Athlete"; Gloria Estefan who found emotional escape in music and became a successful performer as well as an advocate for abused children; Ben Carson who was ridiculed for failing grades, changed his learning habits, and became the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins.
How refreshing to find a source of inspiration which is so accessible to young people. Teachers will welcome this book, with its readable chapters which are brief enough to be included within class periods. Dare to Dream comes at a time when we need real heroes and reasons for hope.
Should Be Recommend Reading.......2005-08-08
If I had been given a history book written by Humphrey, I would've fell in love with History! She writes in a way that makes historical figures seem interesting, lively, and important. Not only does she include many personal attributes with each profile, but she explains why these people made significant contributions to history (past and present)!
Inspire Your Dreamer.......2005-06-21
This collection of twenty-five short biographies introduces us to heroes in all avenues of achievement: invention, medicine, arts, science, education, sports. Each story is a testament to perseverence and self-determination. Whatever a child's dream (science, education, sports, invention, performing arts), there is a hero AND heroine who made their dream come true. The collection ran the gamut of great achievers. Some I knew about, others were new. The stories were too short for my taste. Although balanced in numbers, some of the selections puzzle me. For example, why Sammy Sosa and not Roberto Clemente? The stories have enough information to potentially inspire a child to research and learn more about a person of interest. Great balance of men and women for all fields of achievement.
The mini-biographies were choppy at times. The collection may be too heavy with sports figures (24% are athletes, all but one male), including Michael Jordan, who left school early to go pro? The biographies celebrate personal triumphs, despite others' judgments and roadblocks. A great book for talking about being true to one's self!
Teach Children How to Lead Exemplary Lives.......2005-06-13
In today's fast-paced, media-driven world, we have plenty of celebrities, but few heroes. While celebrities are famous (in many cases, for questionable behavior), heroes are esteemed for character, courage and achievement. In other words, a celebrity does not a hero make.
As parents, how do we teach our children to see the difference? How do we teach them that the actress who gets attention for taking off her clothes or the athlete who gets media coverage for punching a fan are merely celebrities, not heroes?
Sandra McLeod Humphrey's latest book, "Dare to Dream! 25 Extraordinary Lives" provides a solution to our dilemma. Humphrey, a retired psychologist and author of the series of "What Do You Do?" books (which foster moral development in children), has done it again with her latest book. "Dare to Dream!" reveals the struggles of real-life heroes and how tough choices led to development of character, moral fiber and social change. Reading about how these people led their lives will give your children role models after which to pattern their behavior.
"Dare to Dream!" has something for every child. Sandra McLeod Humphrey has carefully selected heroes from every ethnicity and walk of life, from sports to science, from music to poetry. Humphrey chronicles hero development during each person's life, from child to adult, so kids can begin to see how choices shape a life. Included in the book are current heroines (like Maya Angelou) and historic heroes (like Abe Lincoln). Although the characterizations are information-rich, they are brief-most are no more than two or three pages-which makes the book a great summer read. While reading the engaging stories from "Dare to Dream!" your children will be sharpening their literary skills and learning how to rise above time, place and circumstance to become heroes of their own lives.

Move over, Captain Underpants! There's a tiny new superhero in town. Undaunted by Principal Krupp's insistence that their essay assignment on good citizenship not be another comic book about the briefs-clad warrior, fourth graders George and Harold decide to invent a new superhero. Super Diaper Baby is born! It's up to our fearless infant hero to save the planet from diabolical Deputy Doo-Doo and his reluctantly evil pooch, Danger Dog ("I'm not really evil. I'm just in it for the kibbles."). Several robotic battles, intergalactic digressions, and "flip-o-ramas" later, Super Diaper Baby has done his duty, and George and Harold are in trouble yet again with their principal. Still, it was worth it, as any fan of Dav Pilkey's lowbrow, scatologically inclined "epic novels" (The Adventures of Captain Underpants, Captain Underpants and the Wrath of the Wicked Wedgie Woman, etc.) will attest. George and Harold's spelling is atrocious, their humor is straight off the grade school playground, and kids love every page of it. (Ages 8 to 12) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
Oh, no! It's not enough that George and Harold have invented Captain Underpants, the greatest superhero of all time, and that they've also saved the world FIVE times! They defeated Dr. Diaper! They punished Professor Poopypants! And they whacked the wicked Wedgie Woman! What task could be worse?!!? This one: As punishment, the boys have to write a 100-page report on "good citizenship," and they have been specifically ordered NOT to write another comic about Captain Underpants. So what do they do? Aha! Meet Super Diaper Baby--the most powerful peewee to pack a punch. With Pilkey's typical over-the-edge humor, Super Diaper Baby will have kids laughing until soda comes out their noses.

my son reads these over and over.......2007-04-13
I would recommend this book because it is clever and funny. There is a bit of bathroom humor but my son loves that and it keeps him reading. It is a trade off I am willing to make.
It was great !!.......2006-12-27
I loved when dumpty dangerous turned into poop. I read it every time I went to hockey practice. There is a lot of action in this book. You better check it out :)
Super Diaper Baby.......2006-03-30
Someone else would like to read this novel or book because it has great humor, action, and flip-o-roma which are two pages combined to make one. You use the flip-o-rama by holding down the second page and flipping the first page.
The themes in this story are courage and bravery. Super Diaper Baby fights crime against Dr.Poo Poo and his giant ant. That makes him couragous and brave.
Super Diaper Baby.......2006-03-23
Have you ever seen a baby just in a diaper fighting poop? In Super Diaper Baby, you will. It has flip-o-rama in every chapter! Flip-o-rama is when you flip the pages. It looks like the characters are moving. A deputy gets turned into poo and builds an invention to destroy Super Diaper Baby once and for all. Does Super Diaper Baby die? Read it to find out. Recommended for people with a great sense of humor.

Then her husband said I'll smash it!" Then he looks out the window and like NEVERMIND! Then super diaper baby said 'I'll do it" and he did! I RECOMMEND YOU FINISH THE BOOK TO FIND OUT THE REST. IT IS THE BEST BOOK IN THE WORLD.

Marvel Encyclopedia Volume 1 HC.......2006-08-22
Although the book was a thorough accumulation of Marvel characters, the pictures were in black and white, and the level of artistic talent was limited. The inexpensive printing shows and I was completely dissatisfied with the flimsy pages and grainy print.
Marvel for Dummies.......2003-08-06
The book looks great, the problems start when you search for information on a caracter and you only find the ones you already know. I understand that Marvel dedicate more space to it's icons, but it's illogycal to exclude 80% of your caracters, even if they are well know outside the comic comunity (Apocalyps, Mr. Sinester, Hobgoblin, Tigra, Machineman, Valder, Mr Hyde, Omegar Red, Lady Deathstrike, etc).
Almost every art piece has already been publish, and the ones who haven't are not very good (Quicksilver and Scarlet Wish).
The information is scarce to say the least, and the recomended reading is almost limited to recent issues.
Sometimes the power level of the caracters dosen't make any sense. (according to the guide Jubilee has more energy than Gambit).
If you have never read a Marvel Comic this might be your cup of tea, otherwise don't buy it.
An excellent resource!.......2003-02-07
I have to wonder whether some of the other reviewers read the same book I did. No, not everyone knows what Captain American, Hulk, and Wolverine have done in the comics. No, the entries weren't "just cut-and-pasted from the Marvel Web site". And I had to laugh at the obviously clueless person that said "many of the people writing Marvel now know less about the characters than a lot of us older fans"! This is an excellent, well-researched, visually-attractive, informative, and up-to-date guide to the Marvel Comics universe that will appeal to both new and long-time readers. Granted, it's nowhere near as in-depth as Marvel's older Encyclopedias, but it was never meant to be. Marvel are promising future editions and updates of the new Encyclopedia, so If you like Marvel's comics, movies, or TV shows, and want to know more about the characters, then get in on the ground floor with this great book!
WHERE IS THE GUIDE TO MARVEL UNIVERSE AT?.......2003-01-23
I bought this under the false belief that this would be an awesome edition to my collection.
this is so full of errors those tech specs are soo off when it comesto strength.. duribablity and fighting skill. Contradictions to what the Bio says and the Tech Spec shows.
It's mainly Eye candy and not even that when it comes to artwork because it's artwork we've already seen before*repeatly*. The bio history for a majority of the characters even established ones is IMO brief and actually forgets some good points in character development.
I'd say this is good for a kid ,but not a mature comic reader. If you want info and accurate info on character look for the guide to the marvel universe set. I'm sure, the usual net surfing will give you better..
Waste of Money.......2002-12-27
Everyone already knows what Captain American, Hulk, and Wolverine have done in the comics. I thought this book would be an (almost) complete encyclopedia of marvel characters. Due to its small size I just figured it would provide brief descriptions of each character. It doesn't even cover all of the first x-men. And yes, everything was just cut-and-pasted from the marvel website.
Don't judge a book by its attractive cover!
