I'll save you irreplaceable time and hard-earned money - don't click 'add to cart!'

This "book" could be reduced to a few typed up pages of text - but they spaced it way out (huge margins, small pages, big type) to bulk it up into a waste of space book.

The content is unoriginal, nothing not seen in most other marketing-rich-quick books, and 52 pages of about 200 are dedicated to Domino's Pizza and how wonderful it is. (are we done yet?)

And the $397 worth of surprises? Mostly more get-rich-quick 'e-books' with actual retail values set by the AUTHORS! or MP3s of this wizard pontificating about topics he has little insight about. Yawn.

I'd send it back if I could. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Well, I'm not one to believe hype and I still don't think it can be done in 3 seconds or less, but I am amazed at the tricks that I did pick up. Worth more than a 3 second perusal.

I am a professional PR and marketing man. I constantly strive to hone my skills by reading trade articles and books about the subject. If you hope to become adroit at marketing, you must do the same.

The Irresistible Offer is an excellent book that teaches the nuts and bolts of putting together a product and brand message. It explains how you can refine your product's message into a 3-second touchstone that conveys the features and benefits of your product to prospective customers at a glance.

The psychology and theory behind this book is excellent. I would recommend it as an addition to any marketer's library.

The title itself is an excellent example of "the irresistible offer." The "3 seconds or less" refers to the amount of time you have with a prospect to get and capture their attention. However, the way the title of the book is written, you could interpret it to mean it will only take you 3 seconds or less to learn how to sell your product. Now that's great copywriting! And for anyone who wants to succeed in business, this book is a great reference. Buy it. Read it. Apply the lessons. And succeed. Even after nearly 30 years in advertising, I learned from this book.

This book points out a lot of biblical truths that we seem to have forgotten or blatantly ignored. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. There were some minor things that I disagreed with, and many things that I'm still mulling over. But the issues he brought up need to be thought and prayed over. Too many people don't consider them deeply enough. Even if you don't agree with some of his conclusions, if it makes you truly and deeply think about the issues, it's worth it.

It's also a very easy read. His writing style is funny and serious at the same time. I enjoyed his humor and straightforwardness very much.

What a great book that challenges us to TRULY live like Jesus. Let's all stop talking about how Jesus lived and actually start DOING it. My husband has started a non profit organization and we are going to be movinng to live on the POOR side of town so we can be a part of their lives and hopefully offer them some help and hope. WE NEED MORE CHRISTIANS LIKE THIS who have SACRAFICIAL LOVE for the people around them. We have entirely too many rich people in this country for us to still have homeless people here. The whole redistribution thing is great, but it has to be something that is organic and not forced.

I didn't care for all the anti-war jargon in the book, but I do like the idea of peace. There were wars in the Bible and God actually commanded some of them so I find it hard to believe that God is against ALL war.

Overall, I would recommend this book for it's challenging look at how the Gospel is supposed to be "lived out". Let's stop spending millions on megachurches and start using that money to help out the needy.

This book is great for pastors and teachers. It is useful instruction for mapping out a message. It gives you five things to place before you every time you put together a message (they are now taped to my computer screen). I wasn't too interested in part one -the fictional "Ray" character story; however, I can see how it would be helpful to others. I really believe Andy is not only one of the best communicators of our time, but he also is one of the best teachers for pastors and church leaders. If you like this book, you might check out a similar book called Seven Practices of Effective Ministry.

This is an excellent book on preaching by Andy Stanley. The book is easy to read with clear ideas on how to improve the flow of a sermon. His ideas of the ME-We-God-You-We outline is wonderful and engaging. He emphasizes making each lesson a "one pointer". Andy certainly engages in the narrative style of preaching, but expands the technique into some new territory. I would recommend this book to any of my preacher friends. Some of the best thoughts were taking time to connect with the audience, flow to application, and developing the tension to cause people to want to listen. In the next few weeks, I look forward to developing some lessons with these thoughts in mind.

This book is extremely insightful, and easy to read--in the typical Andy Stanley style. I bought it because I couldn't figure out why Stanley's preaching hit home with me every time. I'd listen to other Pastors, and it just wasn't the same. This book offers an inside look to how he prepares, structures his messages, and the general philosophy behind his preaching. It is very practical, challenging, and outside the box. I've used his insights with great success over the past year, and I've passed the book on to may church leaders that I know. Enjoy!

There are no secrets in this book. It is an intersting read, but it takes the same approach that many are using today - developing relationships and using those relations to share Christ. However, the cautions make the book especially worthwhile.

I / we wrote this important book with the idea in mind that far too many of us who passionately care about sharing our faith in Christ (studies show that aournd 3% of all Christ-followers will at any point share their faith with anyone in their lifetime) - that of that very small percentage, the vast majority confine their style of sharing to just one approach. Outreach effectiveness is all about us just being ourselves. It's not about us putting on, as they say, "Saul's armor," but just being who we are, being 100% naturally who we are.

The mainstay of Irresistible Evangelism is the introduction of a number of creative approaches ("golf clubs" to follow the analogy) that have worked over several decades for us in naturally connecting with people who are "not-yet believers." We, probably like you, are completely skeptical of programs that are designed to take someone through a certain number of weeks of learning this or that and that promise that at the end of that trail of memorized conversations, verses, etc... "YOU TOO WILL BE EFFECTIVE AT SHARING YOUR FAITH!" Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt... but unfortunately programs just don't work... Never have, never will. People are far too complex to boil down into a programatic approach and then predict how they will respond. Anyone over 30 years old should be able to see that truth. If the people who put those programs together were to actually talk to not-yet believers they would discover that those people can detect a "program" that is being sprung on them from a mile away and they close up instantly. Hello? Anyone out there? Am I right? I talk to, no kidding, on the average, of 5 or so not-yet believers a day (I get out a lot). I've been doing this for many years. It's just the way I live. I call it "seed flinging" (ala Matt. 13 and the farmer). This simple little book is the condensing of lessons I and my two friends have learned from flinging our seeds over the past couple of decades - not programs, but natural bridge building skills that will help anyone - introvert or extrovert alike - to become a better "golfer."

Here's the deal with this book: If you read it and find it a waste of your time and money I will personally pay you back for your purchase of the book. I am not allowed to put my personal information on this site, but if you put my name into Google you can find my info pretty quick. Either call me or email me - I'm good for it.

Evangelism in a post-modern world.......2005-08-26

This book gives you nothing new or radical. It simply shares, with great stories and illustrations, the fact that evangelism involves loving people where they are, not dragging them to where you would like them to be. This book takes seriously the fact that no two people are in the same place in their spiritual journey and that each person comes to a relationship with God by a unique path. As evangelists, we are not answer-givers or persuaders, but merely witnesses to what God has done in our own lives. Sometimes we may be called upon to pray with a person as they make a commitment to Jesus Christ, but only when they are led by the Holy Spirit to that point.

The book begins with brutal honesty. Evangelism as it has been practiced most often in our culture has probably driven more people away from God than it has brought to God. We still suffer from the "Gospel Blimp" mentality in most of our churches and wring our hands in bewilderment when no one responds or worse, no one takes us seriously. It confronts us with the seven deadly sins of evangelism (which made me fall on my knees screaming "mea culpa!" more than once). Then the three authors gently begin to put us back together by helping us to understand that we can repent and even recover from these sins, and with a little Biblical understanding we can actually be "effective" witnesses for the gospel of Jesus Christ in this strange place we live in called the Post-modern World.

Also, if you are using this book to teach discipleship or evangelism in your churches, the golf club analogies makes far more sense than some of the other models that have made their appearance from time to time.

For me, this is the best book of its kind. I highly recommend it to churches serious about evangelism.

A balanced approach to evangelism.......2005-05-02

Steve Sjogren has written extensively on his experiences with Servant Evangelism, a style he characterizes as "High grace, low risk." In this book, Irresistible Evangelism, he teams up with Dave Ping and Doug Pollock to consider the broader picture of evangelism, showing how servant evangelism can fit into the total evangelistic ministry of the church.

The authors recognize that many have set out to do evangelism - from a variety of motives - but have often found their work unproductive In fact, many of the things Christians do in their attempt to evangelize lead people away from Jesus rather than toward him. They identify 7 "deadly sins" in particular:
· Scheming - Using slick marketing and "bait and switch" methods to bring people to Jesus
· Scalp Hunting - Out for numbers; highly impersonal
· Screaming - Self-righteously afflicting people with the gospel
· Selling Jesus as if He's a Juicer - Jesus as a fix-it man for life's every difficulty
· Stalking - Giving people no space; suffocating them with the blessing of your witness
· Sermonizing - Offering all the answers before you hear any questions
· Spectating - So paralyzed by fear you do nothing

If these are practices to avoid, what ought we to do? First, we ought to have a better understanding of what evangelism is. When I teach on the subject I teach that evangelism has three components: (1) What we say; (2) What we do; (3) Who we are - and each of these three components needs to be done by Christians as individuals as well as in groups. The authors say something similar. As they put it, "True evangelism is not merely proclaiming a message of good news; it is becoming a living representative of God's heart toward people." That is very well put. As a consequence of this understanding of evangelism, they emphasize that it is something we do not merely with designated unbelievers, but with everyone we encounter. God want to use us to help all people move closer to Him.

Once we understand evangelism as God's action through us, what next? The authors suggest that discover each person's "spiritual address." They identify four levels of needs: Physical, Emotional/Relational, Directional, and Spiritual. We all have these needs, but respond differently to messages and actions addressed to each, depending on the situation. They observe that, "we subconsciously evaluate whether what's being communicated connects to any of our basic needs. If it doesn't, we will choose to turn away and ignore it. If it does connect, we'll begin to turn toward it and give it more attention. Once we begin turning toward the message and have started to understand it somewhat, the second set of choices kicks in. Based on a largely intuitive appraisal of the potential threats involved, we'll choose either to begin to embrace or to reject the message." We usually only let these needs-meeting messages into our lives when we trust the messenger. Obviously, therefore, one of our primary needs as witnesses is to prove ourselves safe and trustworthy people.

Over the next several chapters Sjogren et al. address four methods to address these four kinds of needs:
· Active Kindness (Servant Evangelism) - meets physical needs of people, showing them God's love in a practical way. Evangelists working at this stage need to avoid an instrumentalist approach: I'll love you if you respond to my love. Rather, true servant evangelism is done "with no strings attached;" it's offered freely. Does Servant Evangelism "work?" We pragmatic Americans always want to know if something works; too often we decide whether something is true, good, or to be done solely on the basis of whether it works. Sjogren's Cincinnati church provides strong evidence that Servant Evangelism is a factor in reaching people for Jesus. He says, however, that it doesn't work quickly. A church needs to keep at it at least a year before assessing effectiveness. He has three further suggestions for using it in the church: (1) Keep it simple so more people can participate; (2) Do it regularly - treat it as an ordinary part of the Christian life; (3) Be friendly - count the relational aspects as essential to the process.
· Active Friendship - Learning to pay attention to people and engage with them; the varieties of Friendship evangelism come in here. Take time to get into their lives and discover what matters to them. If you find that they're sinners - with sinful desires and motivations - don't reject them. Seek to understand them and love them where they're at. Let friendship - loving them as Jesus would - be your main agenda item.
· Active Wondering - Creatively looking at the message of Jesus and connecting it with people's lives. Apologetics fits in here, and can be mistakenly standardized in a one-size-fits-all approach. The key method they advise in this part of the process is asking open-ended questions (they provide 99 sample questions) probing their understanding of life in a non-threatening, non-judgmental way.
· Active Sharing - Helping people discover the "how to" of becoming a follower of Jesus; an essential part of evangelism, but too often the only focus of training in evangelism. In their chapter on this part of the process, they look at how the sharing process works in different kinds of relationships.

The final chapter of their book, "An Arsonist's Guide to Evangelism," presents 5 "fuelish" ways to "ignite ordinary church members with a passion for introducing their family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers into life-changing relationships with Jesus Christ." These five "fuels" include: Kindness, Fun, Generosity, Humility, and Prayer & Worship. At the same time we need to remove the "asbestos" items from the church: Fear, the idea that evangelism is something only for the experts, apathy and self-centeredness.

If you're looking for help in developing a well-balanced approach to evangelism in your church, this book would be worth considering.

Not as bad as I thought it would be........2007-10-10

I was mortified to receive this book as a gift after my relationship of 7 years ended. Also, I was initially turned off by the Cosmo and Chick Lit inspired writing style. But as I was reading, I eventually pulled out my highlighter. It was, as one reviewer said, a good refresher before getting back into the dating pool after my long-term relationship. I found that the far more valuable information was the life advice she gives about living in the moment. Something about how she explained it clicked this time. She also opened my eyes to a lot of mistakes I was making in my past relationship, namely that we gave up our own, separate lives and wore each other out.

However, it is quite short. I also saw a lot of ideas that came from other sources and am not sure how original she is.

A well written, insightful, disturbing book I couldn't put down. A must read for every woman. Another amazing book that I highly recommend is the How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You If you really want to look hot, this is a good book for that purpose. Overall, an absolutely amazing books that I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat!

Great Advice!.......2007-10-02

This book gives some great advice about human nature and more importantly about living a life that is good for you. It sounds basic, but when you're being authentic to yourself, when you're relaxed and happy and excited about your own life and appreciative of others, you attract positive likeminded people to you -- which can only make things better! Its a good read, some very good and interesting tips and ideas. It's not at all manipulative or from the days of yore when Women were trained to become 'things' that men might desire. Fantastic that it does not put man on a pedestal and tell women to cater to his every whim or play hard to get or read between the lines or any of those other books that actually drive a big wedge between the sexes! This book actually respects that both men and women are people and at the heart of it want the same things. But above all, the most important tip -- is to descover and be yourself -- the freeing happiness alone will make you more attractive!

This is great book. Every woman should read it. You will be surprised how iformative this book is!

Well, Mrs. Ray has done it again! Another Grayson man has fallen captive to LOVE. I always enjoy the Grayson family and their circle of friends. Ruth Grayson definitely has a talent for finding the perfect mate for her children. The heated passion that kept building up between Pierce and Sabra was intense and well written as usual. The characters were well developed as always. Unexpectedly, however, were the many errors throughout the novel. Not sure what happened, but there quite a few mix-ups with Sabra and Sierra, but it was still an enjoyable read. I love a good romance and Mrs. Ray never disappoints. I can hardly wait to read "Only You", and witness first hand Ruth Grayson "take-down" her final child, and only daughter, Sierra.

The Graysons of New Mexico and the Falcons of Texas -- I just love them. Whenever I see one of Francis Ray's books about these two families, I cannot buy the book fast enough. I totally enjoy the read.

Irresistible You- A Joyfully Recommended Title.......2007-06-21

Three married and two more to go! Ruth Grayson is determined to see all her children happily married even if she has to drag each one of them kicking and screaming to the altar. Ruth's latest conquest is her youngest son, Pierce, who appears to be the most difficult one of them all; nevertheless, Ruth is up to the challenge. The special lady that Ruth has chosen for Pierce is the beautiful, famous Broadway singer, Sabra Raineau; however, Pierce doesn't know it because Ruth has successfully pushed another woman (who is in on her plan) into his path knowing that Pierce would run in the opposite direction directly into Sabra's arms. Oh, what a fantastic plan! Now, all Ruth has to do is to set her plan into motion and watch everything fall neatly into place.

Irresistible You is without a doubt one of my chosen Joyfully Reviewed recommended read! From start to finish, the book quickly pulled me into the wonderfully written plot and held my interested tightly until the dramatic conclusion. I loved everything about Irresistible You! I was totally spellbound by the passion that instantly ignited between Pierce and Sebra. No matter how hard the couple tried to fight their growing attraction, they could not help but to succumb to their irresistible desires. And, it didn't help matters that Ruth made sure that they were within each other's company whenever possible. Francis Ray is such a magnificent and talented writer. Her scenes are so rich in detail and emotionally binding that you can't help but fall in love with her characters and continue to read her books to see how each storyline will unfold. So sensual that your toes will curl and emotionally exhilarating, Irresistible You is a must read!

I stumbled upon this book and am so glad I did.

The author has an obvious love and passion for Jesus and a desire to tell others about how to be a godly and virtuous woman. Forget "The Rules" - Read and apply the principals outlined in the book and fall in love with the Savior. In a culture that forces one to immediate gratification, this book will inspire and motivate you to pray for your husband to FIND you ("He who finds a wife finds a good thing") while you are pursuing God's plan for your life. In addition to inspiring single women, this book also encourages married women and provides practical advice to becoming an irresistable wife.

The book is easy to read, humorous, points to Jesus, scripturally based and applicable for today. I like the use of scriptural stories which illustrate not only how to be a godly and faith inspired woman, but how the scriptures are truely timeless and relevant. I found this to be a very down to earth book with practical advice. I have begun applying some of Michelle's principles and am finding that they really do work. This is an excellent book for anyone who is concerned about reaching their community with the gospel. It is a different approach to the challenge that churches face today in our culture where the local church has often become irrelevant in the eyes of the community.

Worth reading for every church leader..........2006-01-31

"The Church of Irresistible Influence" is one of the most compelling books that I've ever read about what the church can and should be. I'm not one to casually embrace huge concepts on a whim, so I'm not yet convinced that every notion from this book is appropriate or even workable in many churches. In fact, Lewis' church has undergone some significant organizational changes since he wrote the book. I would be most intrigued to read a sequel that describes the process of becoming a church of irresistible influence after several more years of experience.

In any case, perfect model or not, Lewis presents many extremely dynamic examples of how his church (and, more specifically, the people within his church) began to impact the Little Rock community in amazing ways. It's great to read those stories of connection, blessing, and service, particularly as so many churches are becoming painfully aware of how useless they really are to their communities.

I would strongly recommend this book to any modern church leader, not because I think that every church should adopt this exact model of church structure, but because it presents some big issues and paradigm-shifting ideas that have the potential to totally redefine the impact of the American church. It just might totally rearrange the way you think about church!!

This book is an excellent, balanced, scriptural view of the need for the church to be engaged in outreach. It is not only a good view, theoretically, but it is extremely practical and motivational. Even though Fellowship Bible church has moved on from the approach described here, it is still an excellent stepping stone for a growing church.

I am not technically in sales but this book went way beyond sales to helping improve one's life. You would be surprised how many people aren't aware of the little `secrets' that can bring about success in a relationship. In many cases, it's the smaller tweaks that can tip the scales of a relationship in your favor. Even the most `obvious' tactics are covered in this book, yet we all know of instances where people simply fail to implement them.

It is a great resource and provides information on body language, non verbal communication, attraction, and even flirting (not an inclusive list) which can be implemented immediately.

This book would be of value to anyone wanting to refine their interpersonal and social skills. It is also a great gift for the person who is looking to improve on becoming more attractive in the minds of those that they would like to influence.

His understanding of human behaviour sets him apart as every strategy talked about is backed with sound scientific research. Anyone wanting to understand about personal magnetism and charisma will benefit by reading this book. Reading this book allows you to as once read the way instantly be able to see body language cues and recognize language patterns. This is worth far more than the cost of the book.

I am interested in building a persona that attracts people to me so I can present my ideas on helping others "take action". I liked the sub title "Secrets of Personal Magnetism" so I read the book. I can't help people if I can't engage them in conversation. Presenting an attractive persona has been a working project of mine for the last six months. This book put a lot of things together for me. I now understand more about the subtleties of body language and communication that go into establishing an attractive persona. Thanks Dr. Hogan!

I have been married nearly 30 years. Three years ago my wife and I went through a Christian program for relationships and applied biblical principals that have transformed our marriage. This book Discovering the Mind of a Woman says what I have been living for the past three years. The bottom line is that God's principals work and this book explains these principals in a concise and biblical way. By letting go of my ego, and pride and getting rid of any sin in my life that God shows me I can die to my carnal nature and put on Christ every day -actually on a moment by moment basis. For me it was like having blinders taken off my eyes. By resolving bitterness and being Christlike by agape loving my wife like Christ loves the church I am experiencing a transformation in my relationships with God, my wife and our children. This is a must read for every man that is looking for a closer walk with God and strengthened relationships of all kinds.

My dh read this book and then asked me to read it. I found it a refreshing change from other books on marriage I've read. It is the only one I'm familiar with that actually holds men accountable for the success of their marriages and the emotional and spiritual health of their wives.

The criticisms mentioned in reviews here and elsewhere on the 'net are gross exaggerations and misrepresentations. It is worth noting that these reactionary comments were all made by men. If these husbands allow their wives to read the book, the women will find themselves amazed at their agreement with Mr. Nair's insights.

Most popular works on Christian marriage focus quite strongly on the wife's duty to reverence and obey her husband--this one stands out as proclaiming the balancing (and in my opinion, currently more needed) view of a husband's Christlike, sacrificial (Eph 5:25) love for his wife.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding, and the true eternal value of Mr. Nair's work is evidenced by the happier husbands and wives who have benefitted from his book. Without a doubt, husbands who take his exhortations to heart will find deeper true intimacy with their wives on every level.

Transformation.......2007-06-10

I have seen, in my own life and in the lives of others, the fruit of Ken Nair's teaching. The concepts within this book are not of Ken's own imagining, but are inspired; indeed, they can be found in the scriptures. "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"

Not The Full Counsel of God.......2007-01-31

Though much of Nair's books contain good scriptural truth, he does not "declare unto you all the counsel of God." I have attended his seminar and his counsel is one-sided and his viewpoint of women is condescending, unrealistic, and unBiblical.

1. By implication, Ken teaches the only reason wives sin is because their husbands are not being Christlike.

2. In his books and presentations, Ken freely applies Scripture to the responsibilities of husbands, but does not apply them to wives or even address their Biblical responsibilities except to teach the only job a wife has is to berate the husband when he is not being Christlike.

3. Ken condemns husbands for their sins, but allows wives to freely indulge in those sins:

Ken says that women "are the historians of the family and always remember past offenses." Even though in 1 Corinthians 13:5 reliable translations tell us that true love does not keep a record of wrongs, Ken encourages wives to do the exact opposite.

Ken says, "outbursts of anger are the only way women can get men to listen," and yet, Ken encourages such anger ignoring James 1:20 and Ephesians 4:31-32 that such behavior is sin.

One walks away from Ken's books and seminars wondering if women are truly capable of sin unless their wayward husbands drive them to it.

4. Worse of all, Ken is guilty of only quoting partial verses. 1 Peter 3:7 says, "You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, *as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.* The section between the asterisks is omitted from Ken's workbooks and presentations changing the emphasis of the verse. This is not the only verse Ken only partially quotes.

5. Ken knows he stands on shaky ground and manipulates those who question him by accusing them of being carnal and "fleshly."

The bottom line is that Ken is correct when he instructs Christian husbands "ought to love their wives as their own bodies." However, he does everybody a grave disservice when he fails to instruct a wife to "respect her husband."

Those struggling in dysfunctional marriages will do better with certified Christian marriage counselors or the writings of James Dobson or other qualified Christian counselors, but I cannot with clear conscience recommend Ken's books and his expensive seminar and his very costly, three-year-long discipleship course.
