Book Description
Trust Matters offers educators a practical, hands-on guide for establishing and maintaining trust within their schools as well as providing information on how to repair trust that has been damaged. Written by Megan Tschannen-Moran—an expert on the topic of trust and schools—Trust Matters is based in solid research. It outlines the five key elements on which individuals base their trust judgments (benevolence, honesty, openness, reliability, and competency) and explores the factors that influence the development of trust. The book explores the leader’s role in fostering high quality relationships among teachers, students, and parents and examines examples of positive outcomes of trusting school environments.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent advice for educators and PARENTS!.......2005-03-05
Megan's "Trust Matters" is an insightful illustration of how important trust is - not only in our schools, but also in our society. While this practical book thoughtfully offers advice geared towards educators, I found that (as a father of three elementary school age children) it provided a terrific perspective for how I can positively contribute to the trust relationship. Megan's "Facets of Trust" (Benevolence, Honesty, Openness, Reliability and Competence) combined with her "Functions of Leadership" (Visioning, Modeling, Coaching, Managing and Mediating) are brilliantly thought out and presented. This book is filled with sound advice for how to create and maintain trust in relationships - in all of life's settings. Get Megan's book - I promise you won't be disappointed! It is truly a MUST READ!
A Must Read for School Leaders.......2004-09-07
I am a school superintendent that is reading the book with my administrative team. The reflective discussion questions at the end of each chapter and the scenarios about the three principals have provided for lively, honest conversations about our daily practices. We are trying to improve our relationships with each other and within our schools. The scenarios are real and we can take each one apart and reflect upon the mistakes we have made and how we are going to encourage each other to improve our relationships in the orgaization and our schools. Applying the material to real life situations with be the true test. The author(Megan Tschannen-MoranI is coming to our district to work with us on how we are applying the princples to our team and in our schools. She is very easy to work with and is tailoring the professional development to our teams questions and needs. Megan is that rare individual you only meet once in a life time.
Don't miss this book if you are working to improve the organization or defining how trust impacts our lives.
Practical Advice for Beleagured Principals.......2004-08-31
The practical advice in this book is invaluable for educational leaders who are under fire in today's climate. At points, it reads like a novel -- with up-close stories of 3 real-life principals. At other points, it reads like a self-help book -- with a comprehensive five-point model for understanding and building trust in schools. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. The applications were obvious and compelling. No school administrator should go without reading this book.

A Matter of Trust
By: Anne Shraff
Review By: Victoria M.C.C.
A matter of Trust is a compelling book about love, violence, and family. The main character, Darcy, is 17 and deals with problems like a lot of other teenagers. She has a boyfriend named Hakeem, and he gets criticized because of his speech problem. It hurts Darcy, but she's a good friend so she tried to deal with it.
An old friend of hers, Brisana, has jealousy on the brain. At first she talks about Hakeem and makes fun of him like everyone else. Then, she starts coming on to him and tries to separate Darcy and Hakeem. The tension between these girls is at a very high point. You just want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next.
In the book it also talks about Darcy's relationship with her father. Sometime in the past her parents separated. It hurt her and she never really got over it. Her dad came back and all of a sudden wanted a relationship with his family again. Darcy doesn't quite take it to well. Her little sister on the other hand, is very excited about spending time with her dad again.
I know a lot of people who go through parents getting divorced, or splitting up, and it gets to you. I think this book can connect to people's issues and problems. This story may be fiction, but the events and problems could really happen.
I like to read books that relate to me. That's why I enjoy this story so much. She's a teenage girl, with a boyfriend, parents who have been fighting, and a couple best friends. Don't you just wonder what happens to Darcy's parents? Possibly if Brisana and Darcy ever makeup, and be friends again? Maybe if she and Hakeem finally confess their feelings for each other? The only way to find out is when you pick up and read A Matter of Trust.
Just A matter of trust- Kaylee Johnson 5 eng........2007-06-01
In the book just a matter of trust is about a girl that, got to a high school and has a great boy friend but has not so normal home life. Her dad walked out on her and her mother and little sister(really sad), now she cant tack him back but her sister is having no problem doing that. Her boy friend is extreamly talented but is to scared to go up on the stage or for that matter he is not even able to up to the front of the class and he studers alot. But she finnaly lets her dad back in her life, after have a nice dinner with him and a really nice place. but in the end it is so good well i guess that it would probley be a bad thing for me to tell you what happens in the end of the book. So you better get sdtarted reading that book.
A Matter of Trust.......2007-04-12
Wouldn't you like a book you can read and relate to, that helps you realize that people are just like you? Then you should go to your nearest library and pick up A Matter of Trust by Anne Schraff.
This book revolves around how junior high and high school kids feel. It in some ways helped me feel comfortable about things because I am not the only one who had problems. In the story the main character Darcy is having a problem with her boyfriend and ex-best friend. I can really relate to this and many people can. Darcy is just trying to find a way to keep her relationship together while still not having problems with people including her ex-best friend.
Another, reason why this book is so good is because its story line is great! In the story the author shows how people really talk and she uses slag terms. It's great because it gives the readers/reader an idea of the characters attitude and personality. Some books I've read are very boring because the people in the stories have no personality what so ever. It makes it exciting in A Matter of Trust because you know what people have good and bad attitudes without the author coming right out and saying. For example the author wouldn't say, "Brisana is ghetto" instead the author might have her saying something like, "Whateva no one wants to talk to you!". That is a lot more exciting then Brisana is ghetto.
Also, this book is part of a series so the author has written a lot already. She has about 50 other books rather then this one. A Matter of Trust is the second book in this series. The first book is called Lost and Found. There are eight other books in the series rather than them two. The book has 125 pages and is fiction like most of this authors other books. I am planning on reading all of them because this book is so good!
Of course, I loved this book and I would recommend it for mostly girls around junior high and high school. I wouldn't recommend it for boys because it's mostly about females problems in life. A lot of people I know have already read this book and it would be great if you read it too!

A Matter of Trust By: Anne Schraff
The book is mainly about trust. The author's purpose of writing the story is mainly to say to trust people even if you do not want to. The main characters in novel are Brisana Meeks, Darcy Wills, and Hakeem Randall. Darcy and Hakeem are dating and they think that trust is big factor in a relationship. Brisana Meeks is a trouble maker who loves to make people angry. My favorite character is Darcy because she learned to put her trust in people and let them learn to trust her. She also learned to forgive and forget all the hurtful things people have done to her. You can learn to relate to other people through the things they have been through. I would recommend this book to people who like to read romantic, suspenseful, and comedy books. I would also recommend this book to both male and female teenagers who like to read.

Get this First.......2007-10-10
If you are wanting to get into the Justice series by our bard Radclyffe you must get this book first. It is a good stand alone book. Michael and Sloan are just two characters that I just enjoyed reading and learning about. Not a lot of action in this one but the strength of the characters makes up for it big time!
Micheal beautiful and CEO of a company she helped create. Trying to hang on to what she made from a really bad breakup of a marriage.
Sloan a computer specialist specializing in security. She has a past that no one seems to know about, at least not all of it.
Night and day at its best. Bravo
Beautiful Romance set in Philadelphia.......2006-08-05
You will love the characters (some are quite fascinating). I particularly like Michael (very composed and believable). I couldn't get enough of the characters back story.
Do not miss this book. This is a keeper!
This from the publisher's web site - Michael Lassiter, a theoretical design executive, is about to wage war on the corporate battlefield as she fights to maintain control of her company in the midst of divorce. She hires JT Sloan, an internet security consultant, to protect her most important asset-her dreams and visions, which are suddenly vulnerable within the corporate computer system. Sloan, a brilliant cybersleuth who steadfastly avoids emotional commitments, shares a painful, secret past with her associate and friend, Jason McBride. Sarah Martin, a gentle practitioner of eastern medicine, searches for a way to heal a damaged soul. These four very different individuals, each wounded by personal betrayal, find their lives becoming ever more inextricably bound as they struggle to trust, and to love, again.
Radclyffe...kudos again.......2006-07-29
I think the evolving relationship between Michael and Sloan is heart-warming. I've read this book several time because it makes me feel good.
Sloan and Jason's computer skills put me in awe.
Jason is quite the looker as Jasmin.
Sensational novel.
This is as Good as It Gets.......2006-05-29
The plot of this book is as described elsewhere.
Whether you read Radclyffe's series books, like the Justice series or the Honor series or the Provincetown series, or you read one of her stand-alone romances, you can not go wrong.
I have been reading lesbian fiction for many years, and can honestly say that I have never come across a writer that has so affected me. Her characters are strong, intelligent, and romantic. Naysayers will say that Radclyffe's characters are too perfect almost never flawed - either in looks or character. That may be true, but aren't you tired of the genre's penchant for ordinary? Radclyffe's characters are always enchanting, intoxicating, enticing, and intense. The stories, particularly in the series books, are all first class. Most of her series books are page-turners. And in two of the books, I actually turned to the last page to make sure that the main characters survived - something I never do.
Radclyffe let us believe, at least for the duration of each of her books, that the grand passion, the true love, the happy-ever-after are all possible. She lets us believe that being a strong, intelligent woman does not mean that we will be alone and/or isolated.
The only caveat I have is to read the series books in order. And if you enjoy watching a writer grow, then read the non-series books in the order they were written and watch Radclyffe's talent grow before your very eyes.
Simply the Best.......2006-03-06
A Matter of Trust by Radclyffe has been re-released as a 2nd edition, and it was just as much fun reading it the second time as it was the first. True to her style, Radclyffe has written a sexy, powerful love story filled with angst, discovery and passion. Quite simply, she seduces the reader with her prose, only freeing us after we have read the final pages.
A Matter of Trust, now the prequel to the Justice Series, was originally written as a stand alone romance. The story's main characters eventually become critical players in the Series, but in this book, we are first introduced to Michael Lassiter and JT Sloan. Michael hires Sloan, an expert cyber sleuth, to protect her company from her ruthless husband, but their relationship, which is tentative at first, develops into something much more than a business affair.
While both Michael and Sloan have been involved with others before, they are empty inside and in their own way, feel unworthy of a deep all-encompassing love. Their journey to get to this new kind of love is what makes Radclyffe's romances so rewarding to her readers. She is the master at spinning romances where the characters discover a truly passionate and fulfilling love for the first time. Along the way, we experience everything that the characters feel. Radclyffe's words build anticipation and give us release. She captures the uncertainty of first love and its discovery as the plot deftly differentiates between love and sex.
Even if you have read A Matter of Trust before, it is well worth a reread. And if you have not, this book is a must for all those that enjoy getting swept away with a tender and sizzling romance.

Protect Your Estate: Definitive Strategies for Estate and Wealth Planning from the Leading Experts

Book Description
Your Estate Matters, is a book which has grown out of my weekly newspaper column. It answers, in a no-nonsense way, questions about the estate planning, taxation, estate settlement and financial issues faced by most ordinary Americans. It is not written for lawyers and accountants. It is written for average people who want to better understand their financial options and better understand what their financial advisors are trying to say. Your Estate Matters sets out to demystify confusing legal terms, describe planning techniques and offer practical down-to-earth explanations about the complicated ins and outs of estate planning and estate administration. It also includes other information that affects every family's life and pocketbook: income tax, living wills, trusts, pre-nuptial agreements, college savings, and retirement planning. The information is useful to retirees, business people, and children of aging parents as well as those planning their own estates.

Highly Recommended Lifetime Guide on How to Prepare, Preserve and Protect Your Estate Matters.......2005-08-22
Patti Spencer, Esquire, is widely recognized as an authority on estate planning matters. She has written a weekly column in the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal, "Taxing Matters" since 1999. Her book, "YOUR ESTATE MATTERS" grew out of those weekly columns. Patti is known for her "down to earth" conversational style and for using humor in presenting what most times is a dry and dull subject. Patti presents very valuable information and advice which will enable the reader to greatly incerease their knowledge on the subject. The book is easy to read and helps debunk many myths about estate planning, including the one about: if you don't have a will, the state gets everything." This book is the one resource I have found that provides practical and understandable advice and reasonings regarding estate matters. Patti has really hit a home run with this book. It is a must read for anyone, from an individual, a retiree, a business person or anyone who is getting prepared to address their estate matters. In 35 years of professional life, this is one of those valuable resources that has the potential to have a profound impact on changing the way people think about the subject of estate planning. I highly recommennd this book and will be sure that my business clients, especially those with family owned businesses, get this book and read it cover to cover. It should become a part of every business owner's business survival kit and everyone's personal library.

good organization of estate planning topics.......2005-08-04
The columns are interesting in themselves, but are much more searchable with an index and grouping by subject, starting from planning early in life, then progressing through changing needds at marraige, parenthood, retirment, and estate settlement. This is a great guide for learning about transfer of wealth and how the government is a party to it. The quotations at the beginning of some topics are a nice opeing statement to get you thinking philosophically about a subject, or just to give you a chuckle while reading an otherwise dry subject.
Helpful and Humorous.......2005-08-03
I was thrilled to find that someone finally wrote a resouce book that I can understand that answers my financial and estate planning questions! The author's sense of humor actually turned dull topics into fun reading. I recommend this book for anyone planning to see an attorney for a will or estate settlement. You'll be well prepared.
Highly Recommended.......2005-07-28
If you just came back from your lawyer and are having trouble understanding the difference between a living trust and a living will, this is the book for you! My dad used to tell me that you don't really understand something unless you can explain it to someone else. Patti can explain complex concepts like charitable trusts, remainder interests, and applicable exclusion amounts so that anyone can understand them. I particularly enjoyed the section on Estate Planning for the Family Business which included helpful discussions of how to plan for the business after the owner's retirement.
Understandable and readable.......2005-07-26
Your Estate Matters is a great introduction to the whole topic of estate planning. I started reading this with little or no knowledge regarding any of the topics...trusts, estate plans, tax strategies, etc. I feel that I now have a good, basic understanding of them. This book is accessible to all, even the non-experts, but does not talk down to the reader in any way.
Book Description
Published in 1997, this book is a step-by-step guide to surrogate parenting. It discusses finding and working with a surrogate, what a surrogate program provides, what to include in the contracts, recommended testing for potential surrogates, detailed costs for each item related to surrogacy, the medical procedure, medications and their side effects, embryo cryopreservation, demographics of surrogates and surrogate couples and the effects of surrogacy upon children. One chapter outlines the laws in U.S. states and in Israel, South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Russia. Jewish law also is discussed, along with the views of several Christian denominations and other religions regarding surogacy.
Customer Reviews:
Out of Date.......2003-09-03
This book is horribly out of date, vague and poorly edited. I found a few pieces of information helpful but not much. I will certainly look for a more current book this time around. Many of the examples refer to California and are, therefore, very misleading. You'd be better off with internet research.
A surrogacy must have!.......2001-08-04
A Matter of Trust by Gail Dutton is a "must have" for anyone considering surrogacy of any type. It not only gives the reader pointers on expenses, contracts, and logistics, it also covers the emotional aspect of infertility and the hopes involved in conceiving a baby. It is written in a caring, knowledgable manner without a lot of medical jargon. It also has numerous resources for individuals seeking information on surrogacy. Before you sign anything, read this book!

How Health Care has changed........2006-04-21
In review of this book, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. As I began to read the first chapter I was intrigued because I work in health care and I started in health care right as this change began. It was a whole different place and time then. We truly revolved around the patients and there families needs not around the needs of "the business". There really was a relationship or bond that was made and the comfort level of the patient was our highest goal. Then over the next year or so we slowly saw the business beginning to change just as Annison describes, we were more worried about how much money we were bringing in and not if the patient was satisfied with the services that they received.
It is about this time that I began to see the trust from our patients dwindle. As I read through the next few chapters of Annison's book it became clear to me why this occurred. The health care business was changing right in front of my eyes. As I read on it became apparent to me that we need to change the way we lead people in the health care systems. We need to find a happy medium where we can satisfy the patients so that they can trust us and be able to watch our bottom line so that the stock holders and business men and women are happy too.
I feel that this book is a good read and that if you have ever worked in the health care system you should read it. It will truly change the way you think about the leaders of our health care systems. I feel that until you or a family member has to experience these new systems you really can not understand what or how it has changed in the last 20 years.
New Directions.......2002-10-21
Annison and Wilford draw on years of experience, and learning from the school of hard knocks to develop a comprehensive but concise volume on a difficult subject. Trust is hard to describe, but building it, or tearing it down, is visible and this book does an excellent job in focusing HealthCare leaders on the need for and tools of Trust Building.
Don't look for specific step by step formulas here; for, as the book describes, there are none that always apply to every situation. But this is a thought provoking work with strong observations on Trusteeship, Collaboration, Competition, Leadership, Complexity and the like. I recommend for Healthcare Leaders, and for anyone involved in Leadership at any level.

100% Formulaic.......2006-01-16
First, let me clarify that is from the Media Scholar's wife. What's good about this book is its' price: it's cheap. You get two stories for the price of one. Another 'good' point is, I've read worse. What the back cover doesn't tell you is that both stories are part of a series and are completely connected (which I, as a reader, don't love). I can live with that, though. Unfortunately, the similarities don't end there. Along with having the same characters, it has virtually the same plot. It is 100% predictable. Even the same endearments and phrases are used. I don't know about you, but when I buy a book I expect there to be some creativity involved, not just recycled stories. If you have a favorite plot line and enjoy series/soap operas, then this book may be for you. Another book by Diana Palmer, Bound by Honor, is practically the same as this one. Amazon is even trying to sell them both to you at the same time. Lucky me, I read them back to back. Can't you tell what a fantastic idea that was?!?!?!? I most likely will not read another written by this author. Big surprise there, eh?

repair of prints, books, etc. by a master craftsman.......2006-04-02
Surprisingly, this recognized classic has not heretofore appeared in English. This translation is the 1950 revised and expanded version of Scweidler's book in German first published in 1938. The subtitle of the title page of the 1950 edition (which is shown in facsimile) is "Past Mistakes and New Methods in the Removal of Age-related Damage to Cultural Treasures in the Graphic Arts." The editor Perkinson notes in his Introduction that Schweidler wrote, "In our field one may not create the new, but bring the old into order." In relation to this, the editor notes that Schweidler's approach to the restoration of old works on paper was that of a doctor to the cure of a patient. The author would agree as recognized by his use of German words which can be translated as "patients" (for pictures), "recuperation" (for a state after certain operations are done), and "surgery" (for the removal of certain problems). With his old-time craftsman's love of his craft, knowledge of its techniques, expertise in applying them, his connoisseur's attachment to different kinds of works on paper, and his assumption that his readers share his love and appreciation and are truly interested in learning the techniques to put old works on paper back "into order," Schweidler is the perfect teacher for this unsung, challenging, and demanding craft. He imparts a complete course from collecting old paper for restoration work through handling both old works and their restoration materials, the use of chemicals, and specialized topics such as The Chemical Treatment of Painted Rice Paper to storage for long-term preservation. Some of Schweidler's techniques are now widely-known in the field of professional preservationists and even among amateurs. Nonetheless, this work is still invaluable not only for Schweidler's meticulous guidance, but also for its editor's Introduction and many notes and the frequent useful illustrations.

In a Matter of Trust, Howes and Ritchey bring their deep understanding of the world of the classroom and the world of developmental theory and research to produce a book that is both revolutionary and well grounded. They present a strong and clear rationale for the central role of trusting teacher-child relationships to children's successful adjustment and learning in daycare, nursery school, and early elementary classrooms. Using rich classroom vignettes, they show us how teachers can and do succeed in building trusting relationship even when working with children living in truly difficult circumstances. Their clear presentation of attachment theory sheds new light on children and their motivations and new light on the role of adults in children's development. I found their discussion of one of the sacred cows of discipline, time out, particularly illuminating.
