Este libro lo conocí al cursar la licenciatura en FIMEE, ahora que lo compré opté por la 5a Ed que esta mejorado. Es muy util para asimilar los conceptos y entender los fenómenos. Me gusta mucho por que creo que está muy completo y se explica muy bien. Es un libro que todos los Ing. Mecánicos deben tener. Los ejercicios son muy variados y de amplias aplicaciones, ello permite ver la amplitud de estudio de esta área de la ing. Vale la pena comprarlo (les sugiero la versión en ingles).

The book is so good you can teach yourself.......2005-11-06

This textbook is one of the best I've ever used. Incropera and DeWitt do a great job of explaining convection, conduction, and radiation. I have heard that the mass transfer portion of the book is lacking however, I am an ME major so its not an issue. The covering of conduction is especially good, it goes into great detail math wise although its well presented so you don't have to be a mathematical wizard to follow along. The book goes into a little bit of heat exchanger design, not very much but its a good introduction. If your instructor requires this book for your heat transfer class consider yourself very fortunate.

This book is a resource for understanding/solving complex heat transfer. There are no pages wasted on useless information, just vital information pertinent to the topic. The book is well laid out and well referenced. The chapter on heat pipes is a bit lacking. Overall an excellent heat transfer reference.

Where's the useful stuff?.......2005-08-28

You could spend the rest of your life reading this book! It would be useful for any professor or A student or other intellectual studying the material in depth. But for a practicing engineer who has little available time to ponder the specifics, it would take a "lot" of effort to find material that could be put to work in this text. If you are interested in deriving the equations you need yourself, or if you're analysing a unique design, then this is the book for you. But if you are busy with standardized systems and technology, find another reference.

A Misleading Description.......2004-12-16

I was expecting more tables and equations especially for natural convection external flow. There is also very little useful information about forced convection external flow. I also would have liked to see some sample calculations to demonstrate how to use this book better.

There is plenty of theory despite the product's description and most of it is probably unnecessary for a handbook. It's more like a big, expensive text for heat transfer than a handbook. A person would have to be an engineer, mathematician, or physicist to deal with the level of mathematics presented in this book.

There is a fair amount of information about internal flow for both forced and natural convection, but this book's value is quite limited. I am dissappointed with this book and would not purchase it again if I lost it.

Reference book for engineers.......2004-04-02

This is not an introductory book on heat transfer! Instead it is a thorough treatment on heat transfer in a stringent an extensive manner. This book places greater emphasis on correctness than "easy-to-understand-ness". However, if you do read it, you gain a lot compared to most introductory heat transfer books. If you are interested in forced convection heat transfer, this book gives well documented equations and charts for a great number of shapes, though mostly internal flow. This is a very serious book for serious engineers!

A very useful reference.......2001-06-29

I found very useful the way thermal conductivity was approached. I was used to solve simple problems by means of "Temperature response charts". Now it is possible to use formulas instead of graphs.

Page-turning political thriller.......2007-10-02

I recently read TRANSFER OF POWER while travelling internationally with a five hour lay-over. All I can say is this story made the time go so much faster than the way there where I was reading a book that made my mind drift. The action was pretty much non-stop without the filler that so many books seem to have. The story is totally engaging with characters that you love and characters that you hate.

Move over Jack Ryan.......2007-09-10

This is a very good read and will remind readers of television's 24-Jack Bauer. I visited the author's web page and wasn't the least surprised to learn the guys at 24 used Mr. Flynn as a consultant for season five-one of the best season's according to 24 fans. While I was highly entertained and give Flynn Kudos for its take on the activites of the Iraqi extremist, it's weird to read some details in regard to Sadam Huessin in a post 9/11 world-when it's revealed that he was not as powerful or the main puppet master most of our fiction writers gave him credit for. (The man's back up plan was to dig a hole and crawl into it.) The multiple pockets of Muslim extremist are like a metastasized cancer in the middle east and a threat like the one posed in this book is a possiblity. However, what is described in this book relies on too much luck. (How do you know the president's secretary won't follow protocol?) There's no way I believe in a pre or post 9/11 world that 60 to 80% Americans would prefer we negotiate with a terrorist group that seized the White House. Nor would I believe the Treasury would un-freeze over a billion dollars to country that fund terrorist groups. That's laughable. A hundred hostages or not- and that's judging by the very examples the author gives in the book: Waco/ Ruby Ridge. We don't negotiate. That is the one thing that's consistant with us. The idea that the U.N. could vote to lift sactions with 24 hours is also laughable-regardless of your feelings toward the group-nothing works that fast. There are other troublesome things, BUT this is entertainment. And as a novel, this story never ceases to do just that. Just like the televison show 24-it's addictive, but the plots have flaws.

Best Book (seriously) in 10 years !!.......2007-08-27

I always check the copyright of any new author who is auditioning to monopolize a big chunk of my scarce free time. I was hesitant because this book was written in 1999 and purported to "educate" us about domestic terrorism -- 2 years before 9/11. Oh dear !! What a bad judge of character I was !! This author had me totally engrossed for an entire weekend. I could feel my heart racing and I was breathing fast with every turn of the page. I can't wait to read the rest of his books !! I thought Absolute Power was my all-time favorite, not any more.

2nd book I've read in the Mitch Rapp Series. This of course is the 1st book he's introduced. I got Consent to Kill first in an order I placed awhile back. Got around to reading it, and was hooked. Ordered the whole series so I could enjoy the character and Author from the Beginning. Very good book front to back. A++++

This is a very good book to have for an engineer who deal with two-phase flows and heat transfer, for those who design and operate nuclear reactors, thermal power plants and other thermal management systems. It provides a foundation, with an extensive collection of empirical formulae which could be useful if properly applied. What feels missing in this book, - and is general feature of BOOKS on two-phase flows and boiling - is the heavy empiricism, the lack of a scientific concept, the absence of robust theoretical treatment that one should possess after reading such a comprehensive compilation. That is to say, it is good for some one who knows the subject/field, not for teaching someone about boiling heat transfer and two-phase flows.
