Book Description
Beth Moore wants readers to know if God could lift her out of the pit, He can get ANYONE out! She admits she wasn't just a visitor; this former pit-dweller had to be delivered from acres of life-accumulated dirt, bone-chilling darkness, spirit-deadening anger, heart-breaking desperation and mind-numbing confusion. The permanent lessons she learned in her desperation-shared in this very personal book-are lessons of hope for all of us. While she deeply empathizes with the hows and whys of life in the "pit," she continually points readers to the deliverance that awaits. Deliverance is for everyone, she proclaims-no matter how you got stuck, no matter how long you've been down, whether you think you deserve it or not. And in her straight-talking but loving style, she reminds readers that deliverance can begin for them this very day.
Customer Reviews:
Great book, terrible accent.......2007-10-10
I loved the content of this book on CD although Beth Moore's Texan twang could be a little distracting at times. Like all things Beth Moore, it was a very uplifting but stern reminder of the toll this life can take on us and how to make sure we don't get used to the pit we have fell in, slipped in or jumped in. This book has brought up a lot of discussion topics and afterthought. Well worth suffering through the accent!
First Beth Moore Book? It was mine..........2007-09-27
Before reading this book, I had never read anything by Beth Moore. Although talented and driven in her call, her style of writing is conversational and, at times, confrontational. As I was reading this book as a member of a club, I did not put it back on the shelf and suffered through becoming comfortable with a one-sided conversation. I am quite happy that I did.
If you have not read Beth Moore before, give her a chance. Let her "Talk at you", and respond with prayer - He is the one you are looking for a conversation with!
A Bit of a Disappointment.......2007-09-12
I was hoping this book would have some solid answers for me to get out of my own personal pit but all it did was describe many different types of pits without alot of specific sure fire help and ways to be free. I think it's great that so many of you found help with Beth's book, but if "I" had to do it over again, I wouldn't buy it.
What a blessing!.......2007-09-09
Whether you are currently in a pit of your own making or have been tossed in a pit via the wrongs of someone else or just difficult life circumstances, this book is such a wonderful tool to help keep your eyes on God through it all and to "get out of that pit". This is the third Beth Moore book I have read (the first was When Godly People do Ungodly Things and I am ongoingly reading Praying God's Word Day by Day)and she is such a blessing--accessible and solid.
Beth is at her best!.......2007-09-05
I read this book when I was in a pit, myself. Beth's bubbly personality came shining through in this book and made me laugh when I didn't especially feel like laughing. She has the ability to make you feel as if she's talking to you like a true girlfriend and you come away with the feeling that, "Yeah, she's been in a pit too and came out victorious." I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a good pick-me-up and a catalyst to turning to God for guidance in those times in your life when things seem overwhelming.

Book Description
As the legal controversy continues--this newly revised and updated third edition of the landmark bestseller contains new, critically important information for patients, loved ones, and medical personnel.
The original publication of
Final Exit stunned the nation by offering people with terminal illness a choice on how--and when--to end their suffering. It helped thousands by giving clear instructions to doctors, nurses, and families on how to handle a patient’s request for euthanasia.
In the wake of court cases and legislative mandates, this revised and updated third edition goes far beyond the original to provide new information about the legality of euthanasia and assisted suicide, and a thoughtful examination of the personal issues involved. It has become the essential source to help loved ones and supportive doctors remain within existing laws and keep a person’s dying intimate, private, and dignified.
With deep compassion and sensitivity, it spells out why a living will may not be sufficient to have a person’s wishes carried out--and what document is a better alternative. It updates where to get proper drugs and exactly how to carry out the quickest, most peaceful way to make a final exit. Finally, it gently talks to a person considering self-deliverance about alternatives, planning, and the means to make every death a "good death" at our time of greatest need.

It's too bad we need to know this information but Mr. Humphry provides it in a straightforward, matter-of-fact fashion. In addition to the how-to information, the book very importantly includes how-NOT-to information. I am very thankful for freedom of the press and to Mr. Humphry for providing this necessary information.

Demons and Deliverance: In The Ministry Of Jesus (Spiritual Warfare Series)
ASIN: 0883683245 |
Book Description
Do you know how Satan can use "doorways" including yoga, role-playing games, and meditation, to bring demonic destruction into your home? In this spiritual warfare manual, Rebecca Brown writes from seven years experience helping deliver many people out of hardcore satanism. In this sequel to her best-selling book He Came to Set the Captives Free, you will learn to stand victoriously against Satan, deal with the dangerous New Age teachings, recognize and deal with satanic ritualistic abuse of children, minister in the area of deliverance, and handle the rarely discussed problems people face after deliverance. Satan hates you and wants to destroy you. To be victorious you must Prepare for War.
Customer Reviews:
Not a credible account -- do research on the author.......2007-08-20
I have read this book several times and have written to the author to get her story as well. The author's real name is Ruth Bailey, who had her medical license revoked in the state of Indiana. She also got in trouble with the medical board for giving her patients an unusually high dose of Demerol, for having delusions about patients suffering from demonic oppression, and for repeatedly misdiagnosing her patients. The real "Elaine" has been known to fabricate sensational stories to get attention (All these findings have been documented by Bob and Gretchen Passantino and researcher John Baskette in the Answers in Action website, Pastor Charles Younts - Director of Missions, and Pastor G. Richard Fisher). If you Google: Rebecca Brown or Ruth Bailey, you'll find the links to these investigative articles.
I am in no way a Satanist (but a born-again believer in Christ who is vehemently opposed to Satanism). The author claims that her account is factual, and it is important for readers like me to determine whether her findings are factual and to discern truth from error. After doing research on her background and reading through her book, I came to the conclusion that much of what she wrote is fabricated.
Rebecca Brown may have pointed out some helpful principles on spiritual warfare, but her story about herself and "Elaine" are purely fictional.
I have read numerous credible accounts (written by Christian evangelical authors) on Satanism and would highly recommend books by Clinton Arnold on demons and spiritual warfare. C. Fred Dickason has published helpful studies on Demon Possession and the Christian. Bob and Gretchen Passantino has also written a carefully researched guide on Satanism on the Zondervan Guide to the Cults series. Another great study on Satan and demons is Powers of Evil by Sydney Page. All these authors are much better authorities on Satan and spiritual warfare.
The Bible tells us to "test all things; hold fast to what is good" (1 Thess. 5:21 NKJV). It is important to research the qualifications of the author to see if she is a credible authority. Unfortunately in this case, Rebecca Brown is not. The good book tells us "Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead expose them" (Eph. 5: 11). As for Rebecca Brown, she will do well to heed Prov. 19:5 (NKJV), "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who tells lies will not escape." Please carefully do your own research and discern the truth from falsehood.
Extrememly Beneficial.......2007-06-26
I have read this book many times and the Lord recently led me to pick it up again. I must say that pg. 66-67 is an answer to prayer and was a huge encouragement for a friend of mine helping her lead someone to Christ.I have found the book scripturally sound and I really appreciate Ms. Brown's boldness. Bottom line is, Jesus said a bad tree cannot produce good fruit, and a good tree cannot produce bad fruit. Her books have produced excellent fruit in my life, and several of my friends lives who I have lent the books to.

helpful.......2007-05-14
I am really glad I have "stumbled" across this book. It has helped me in understanding spiritual warfare and given me some insight in my own life. Rebecca Brown is very easy to understand and for everything she relies on scripture and her own experiences. I don't think you can get any more real than that.

This book is a good tool for deliverance ministry.
It was a slow start due to the story telling but it helped to set the stage. Not only was there life application but also profound insight into the spiritual realm. I enjoyed the book and read it in no time!

Book Description
To this day, the low, thin wail of an infant can be heard in Keldale's lush green valleys. Three hundred years ago, as legend goes, the frightened Yorkshire villagers smothered a crying babe in Keldale Abbey, where they'd hidden to escape the ravages of Cromwell's raiders.
Now into Keldale's pastoral web of old houses and older secrets comes Scotland Yard Inspector Thomas Lynley, the eighth earl of Asherton. Along with the redoubtable Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers, Lynley has been sent to solve a savage murder that has stunned the peaceful countryside. For fat, unlovely Roberta Teys has been found in her best dress, an axe in her lap, seated in the old stone barn beside her father's headless corpse. Her first and last words were "I did it. And I'm not sorry."
Yet as Lynley and Havers wind their way through Keldale's dark labyrinth of secret scandals and appalling crimes, they uncover a shattering series of revelations that will reverberate through this tranquil English valley—and in their own lives as well.
Customer Reviews:
A Fine Debut Heralds Brilliance to Come.......2007-06-23
A Great Deliverance by Elizabeth George is the author's well-written debut. There is a good mystery in a small township known as Keldale Abby. The gruesome killing of a man and his dog brings in Scotland Yard Inspector Thomas Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers. Lynley hails from the rich upper class, and is a handsome man, while Havers comes from a poor lower class family, and is a plain looking woman. Though this novel has many strong points including a smooth and almost poetic writing style by George, and an evocative small town and its denizens, its real strength comes from the introduction to the two compelling lead charachters. There relationship and how it grows, not just in this book, but in the books to follow, is the real strength of this series.
This is a solid 3.5 star novel.
Where's the beef.......2007-05-13
First a disclaimer: I was drawn to read Elizabeth George after having read 10's of rave comments about her books. I had run out of mysteries on my shelf so decided to give her a try.
Maybe I've been wallowing too long in the Elmore Leonard, Carl Hiassin school of mysteries but I found this to be even more plodding than most british mysteries. There was all this convoluted useless nonsense about the backstories on the oh, so class conscious pair of police colleagues. Then there was the sudden inprobable device to solve the mystery with people related to each other in the most absurd arrangement.
Very good first book, but it gets better!.......2006-07-12
The first book I read in this series was "Misssing Joseph" and I was enthralled. So I thought I'd read the series from the beginning and was quite disappointed with "A Great Deliverance"--there are way too many over-the-top character descriptions, it's much too much black and white, people are not either demons or angels in real life. Also, the author makes an excruciating effort at using unusual, archaic words (is it a tic left over from the old high school teacher to prove that she knows them and wants us to check in the dictionary?). I really appreciated all the literary references to Shakespeare and the Bible, and the story line was interesting, although on more than one occasion, I wondered where she was leading the reader with this plethora of badly defined characters. Thankfully, it all comes together in the end (the last third of the book is much more enjoyable), and I will keep on reading the other books in the series since I had a taste of a much better book in "Missing Joseph."
A solid mystery novel.......2006-02-13
I tend to judge a book based on what it sets out to achieve and to what degree it succeeds. A Great Deliverance sets out, as far as I can tell, to be a great mystery novel. And it is. Hence the five stars. This is one of those great books where you don't, at any point, feel a little 'stuck'. You know that feeling you get with some books where you sigh and think 'I'll just get through this part and it will pick up again'. None here! The mystery within the village is nicely couterbalanced by the tensions in the relationships among the characters (Lynley, Havers, Deborah, and Simon). Waiting to find out how both would resolve themselves made it a great read start to finish.
Suffer the little children.......2005-11-16
This is M/s George's first novel and the reader's introduction to D.I.Lynley, eigth Earl of Asherton, and D.S.Barbara Havers, that unlikely couple of detectives whos careers and lives continue in further stories. Thomas Lynley is an elegant, aristocratic, former Etonian and Oxford man, well dressed, well educated and well connected. Barbara is fat, badly dressed and teetering between extremely homely and just plain ugly, with a consquent lack of self esteem. They have been teamed by Scotland Yard to investigate an horrific murder in Yorkshire, where it is claimed that a farmer's daughter decapitated him with an axe. Initially, Barbara is totally intimidated by Lynley, as much by the division of their social classes and her inbuilt prejudice, as by his reputation, deserved or not, as a womaniser who sweeps all before him, but soon realises that this somewhat foppish exterior is a mask for a shrewd brain. During the story, Lynley is forced to face and to come to terms with his relationship with Deborah, his former fiancee and now the new wife of his oldest friend. The murder story revolves around a most unpleasant subject, but one which is cleverly plotted and written by Elizabeth George with a most satisfactory ending. It's a great read !

Book Description
Released for the first time in trade paperback, this is the classic tale of four men caught in a primitive and violent test of manhood.
The setting is the Georgia wilderness, where the states most remote white-water river awaits. In the thundering froth of that river, in its echoing stone canyons, four men on a canoe trip discover a freedom and exhilaration beyond compare. And then, in a moment of horror, the adventure turns into a struggle for survival as one man becomes a human hunter who is offered his own harrowing deliverance.
Customer Reviews:
I cringed, I squirmed, I had nightmares. Great book........2007-08-25
Just because I think it's funny, I'll tell my experience reading this book.
I grew up in the New York City area, and when my parents suddenly moved to Vermont during my junior year of high school, I stayed in New York alone to finish at my school but moved up there the following summer and spent my senior year at Burr and Burton Seminary (a high school which used to be a seminary). This was a very pretty, and badly run school where if you weren't taking an AP class you were really studying at about a sixth grade level with the notable exception of Biology. I could have showed up drunk for class every day and still maintained a 'High Honors' average.
As far as the teachers and even Headmaster knew for lack of checking my record of perfect attendance and high grades, I was a slacker because I hung out with the kids who didn't fit in--who tended to also be 'flatlanders' like myself.
Anyway, the one saving grace besides the excellent Biology class was that English class was not bad at all, and my AP English teacher was from Westchester, which is where I moved from. At least I could understand what the hell he was saying--since I couldn't yet comprehend 'Vermonter.' Knowing my situation and how I felt about it, he assigned me the perfect book to compliment my dread--Deliverance.
I don't remember what I wrote for the book report, but it was a great read. I often took breaks from the intensity of this book, but couldn't help continuing to the end. It's a real page-turner, and much better than the movie. It's like I was a juror being required to watch kiddie porn to decide a case--I was repulsed and intrigued at the same time.
I felt the broken bones, the cuts, wet and tired, abused, and hunted. It's a very effectively written book.
This is not at all the sort of book I would pick out for myself, but I'm glad I read it--especially at the time I read it. It's purely for entertainment. You will learn absolutely nothing from this book, but for me, as someone who is highly selective about what he reads, I have to say it was a great break from the type of reading I normally do.
Don't Miss the Novel!.......2007-06-12
Don't miss this shattering, reading-into-the-night novel. The "New Yorker" said, "A novelist of power and skill. A marvel of description that will mnake your muscles ache. A brilliant and breathtaking adventure that is also a comment on American life."
The movie was great, but also treat yourself to reading the novel.
Great Flowing Read [42][T].......2007-05-02
In little more than 200 pages, this mystery contrasts the relaxation of great American outdoors to a horrific experience with a few degenerates of the deep south who give the four main characters a nightmare ordinarily only experienced by convicts.
If you saw the movie, this book will not establish much that you do not know. There are differences and some details which could not be included within the two hours allotted for the movie. And, the depth of the characters and the detail to the southern drawl make the experience extremely pleasant and worthy of a good read.
Like the river on which 90% of the book occurs, the writing flows -- sometimes fast and furious and other times gently, but always moving.
The cover quoted a review claiming that Dickey's ". . . language has a descriptive power not often matched in contemporary American writing." If southern language is the goal of your reading, two other books come to mind - each with such exact phonetic references to the southern pronunciation that it makes the reading arduous at times. They are: "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston and "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker.
For those wondering about the title, it is explained in the second chapter: ". . . the practicality of the sex, so necessary to its survival, but the promise of it that promised other things, another life, deliverance." And, so the city slicking middle aged men jaunt to the white waters of the rural south (northern Georgia by Clayton) - for their deliverance where they can (for a few days at least) experience another life.
This is a classic beach read during the summer or a quick mystery tour with a happy - but not entirely happy (or even close for that matter) - ending. This is fun fiction. This is a good book to read.
This one delivered!.......2007-04-28
I was lucky enough to come across a First Edition Hardcover with perfect dustjacket at a yardsale for a quarter and thought "Hey, I liked the movie. Why not try the book?" Well, Dickey's talent for description is like a painter with brush and paint creating from a bare canvas a vivid and detailed masterpiece. This book was hard to put down and when I finished it, I took a deep breath and thought, "Wow - helluva talent." The book exceeds the movie and the movie was very good.
Deliverance.......2007-02-20
This is a great story. Very full of action and certainly not for everyone as it is very graphic. I have never seen the movie. The characters are very well written and the interaction between them quite interesting. VERY DESCRIPTIVE at times which makes it a little tough to get through but would definately reccomend for a thrill ride.

Opposite Attract
Cain had chosen his lifestyle. He thrived on the challenge. No drug, he told himself, could produce the physical or emotional high of a successfully completed mission. No drug and no woman.
Then why was he standing on a cold San Francisco pier like a lovelorn teenager, hoping for a glimpse of Linette Collins?
And then he saw her. For a moment it felt as if someone had hit him against the back of his head. He went stock-still.
She stood in line at a fish and chips place. The wind whipped her hair about her face and she lifted a finger to wrap a thick strand of dark hair behind her ear.
The smart thing to do was to turn around, and walk away as fast as his feet would carry him. He'd gotten what he wanted. One last look at her. His curiosity should be satisfied.
But even as his mind formulated the thought, Cain knew that just seeing Linette again wasn't enough.

Debbie Macomber's SOMEDAY SOON, which is the prequel to SOONER OR LATER is a wonderful contemporary about a young widow, Linette Collins, who becomes involved with the head of a mercenary group, Cain McClellan. She's reluctant to love and lose again, and Cain, well he's never even CONSIDERED having a "permanent" woman. But, his days of reckless abandon are numbered when he falls in love with Linette--much to the chagrin of his mercenary buddies--and almost loses her to international terorists. buddies.

Book Description
Many Christians find themselves struggling with a particular sin or dysfunction. They seek counseling, practice confession, and pursue God-centered lives, yet still these genuine believers feel hopeless in finding freedom. Could they be under the influence of evil spirits? Yes, says author Neal Lozano. In Unbound, he reveals Satan's strategies and the sneaky ''entrance points'' Satan finds to get a toehold in a Christian's life. He helps readers acknowledge the doors they may have opened to evil influence, and shows them how to close those doors and walk in God's freedom and abundance. Lozano's focus on God and his work in the believer's life, not on intimidating aspects of evil spirits, gives this book a balanced and hopeful tone. Because deliverance is part of the ongoing, glorious work of the Holy Spirit, Unbound outlines a plan for tapping into the potent power of the gospel. It also offers guidance on how pastors, counselors, and laity can pray for others who are still bound by evil and help them to gain victory.
Customer Reviews:
Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance (from Evil Spirits).......2006-11-04
Excellent - very commonsensed and to the point. Shows how to take the Hollywood hype and fear out of it and how to be successful in receiving deliverance.
UNBOUND: An Excellent Book!.......2006-02-22
Lozano's UNBOUND is a remarkably well written, bibically-grounded, and uplifting book. With clarity and compassion, Lozano instructs his readers in the five keys to Christian deliverance: repentance and faith, forgiveness, renunciation, taking authority in Jesus' name, and receiving the Father's blessing. Christian deliverance is a ministry that Jesus Himself instituted among his disciples. Deliverance prayer goes hand in hand with Christian healing and freedom. Lozano's book is not messy or frightening, but instead it abounds in practical advice, faith, hope, and blessing. This is a GREAT book -- a must-read for anyone who feels called into the ministry of Christian intercession. If you are struggling with fear, rage, pride, or any other intractable sin in your Christian walk, this book will be a valuable tool for your freedom and blessing.
Amazing.......2005-07-19
This is truly a wonderful and amazing book. It's a book that
is difficult to put down. Very practical and biblical in his
approach to deliverance, Neal Lozano brings to front and center
the need for deliverance in all of us, and the freedom it brings.
The book is so well written, that I experienced a new freedom
myself. The prayers at the end of each chapter are a blessing.
The examples used are extrememly helpful, especially to those
who have been called to this ministry. This book can be a very effective guide to anyone who reads it,and an effective tool for
those who work in this important ministry.
I personally wrote an email to Mr. Lozano thanking him for this
wonderful book, read it and you too will want to thank him.
Blessings,
Karyl Pulsinelli
Book Review of Neal Lozano's UNBOUND.......2003-07-28
This summer, having taken a course on the History of Spirituality, I had occasion to study Walter Hilton's The Scale of Perfection. In perusing it, I was struck by the fact that for a text of its time and the depth of its topic, it was eminently readable. One commentator described it as belonging to the Handbook Tradition of Spirituality. Before taking the course, and while doing my other assigned readings during it, I was reading a thoroughly contemporary work by Neal Lozano entitled "Unbound: A Practical Guide To Deliverance". Having completed my first reading of it - it is a book which bears reading again and again - I decided that this book, though different from The Scale of Perfection in several ways, is also eminently readable and even more practical than Hilton's classic. I would suggest that "Unbound" may well become a classic in its own right, and here is why I think that.
Neal Lozano articulates and renders concrete an extremely important aspect of Christian spirituality, being freed from the restraints and hindrances of evil, specifically, the demonic. Now before you begin imagining scenes from Hollywood horror films, let me assure you that Lozano's book on deliverance is the very opposite of what many in `pop culture' imagine such a book would be. "Unbound" is centered not primarily on evil but on Christ. It is balanced, nuanced, eloquent and written to inspire not fear of the devil but hope in Jesus and the "fullness of life" offered by Him. The author not only brings to bear his lucid grasp of Scripture, theology, psychological factors and the human capacity for self-deception, he writes also out of his impressive experience in ministering to people locally, nationally and internationally. His recognition of the reality of evil is realistic and informed by genuine faith. Throughout this book, Neal Lozano insists over and over on contextualizing the process known as "deliverance". As C.S. Lewis observed perceptively, human beings make two mistakes about demons: overestimating them and pretending they pose no danger. By insisting that freedom from evil spirits is part of the larger context of the ordinary life of Christians: prayer, community life, service, healing, sacraments, Scripture and loving people as God loves them, Lozano avoids both extremes. Moreover, his book is not sensationalistic and the author demonstrates his ability to critique some methods of deliverance that could lend themselves to sensationalism. The focus of "Unbound" is on discerning God's loving plan for one's life and receiving the power to live that providential plan in freedom. This message is essential. It's one our world needs to hear.

A book that reads you.......2003-05-27
You know how sometimes you really get into a book? Well this book really got into me. It was uncanny how while I was reading the book, it seemed as if the book was reading me. If you do read it, do so with caution because it has the mysterious ability to make you uncomfortable while at the same time providing solutions that free your soul.
How can a book do that? Well, that's what happened to me, it could't possibly be the same for you - could it?

Customer Reviews:
Victory over strongholds and strongmen!.......2007-06-10
This is an intensely practical, very valuable guide to spiritual warfare. The Lord Jesus Christ has given us the power to overcome all the attacks of the enemy! Demolishing strongholds means you have to repent of your sins (or overcome the curse against you) which allowed access to your life and then go after the strongman. But many make the mistake of not recognizing that there are other spirits of bondage connected with the strongman which make him even stronger. (This book gives detailed lists of these associated with common strongmen.) The author directs the reader to bind the strongman, cast out the other spirts, THEN cast out the strongman. She includes prayers to use, stories of victorious battles, and her own personal experience. Even if you don't believe in demon deliverance, think of this book as a way of using truth encounters to confront strongholds and what kinds of strongholds tend to happen together.
great.......2007-02-07
The book came very quickly and was in excellent condition. And to top it off the book was great.
The Keys to Freedom.......2006-12-06
The book is the ultimate handbook for deliverance ministry. The keys to identifying and breaking off demonic strongholds are identified clearly. As this life is a battlefield, then this book is a war room strategy guide. This book brought me immense help in identifying how demons work to intimidate and harass people, and how to fight on their behalf. As usual, this author has taken a complex subject and put it into simple, concrete terms. Indispensible reference book for anyone serious about setting others free.
A practical guide your library needs.......2006-12-05
If you are like most Christians, you have times when you may feel "hemmed in" by something that isn't readily explainable.Other times you may lack the freedom in Christ that you have had in times past. Delivering the Captives is a well written practical guide to deal with issues before they get a foothold in your life. This is a book every library needs to have, and hopefully the reader will review from time to time. It is a very compatible book with the author's Beyond the Lie. Though the specific issues may be differerent, both of these books deal with life isssues that affect our functioning ability. Make no mistake about it, the strongman will do his best to defeat you quickly or with a slow burn. With God's help we can be victorious.
Freedom.......2006-11-08
This is a great "how to" book with amazing stories about everyday people who experience relief and freedom from fears, tormenting thoughts, addictions and overpowering sinful habits by resisting sin and evil through drawing near to God. Salvation, personal freedom and deliverance from demonic spirits, is the work of Jesus in and through our lives.
Alice Smith in "Delivering The Captives" shares how we can obtain personal freedom and effectively help others with their greatest struggles and pain. "Delivering The Captives" renews our faith that the love and power of God is more than enough to live changed lives and experience God's peace.

How to Cast Out Demons: A Guide to the Basics
ASIN: 0800792327
Release Date: 1995-08-01 |
Book Description
A guide to deliverance ministry explains the biblical record and clarifies what a deliverance ministry is and how it functions in the church of today.
Customer Reviews:
Deliverance it is!.......2006-11-06
This book is shurely not a teological one, but instead it is one written on experience.
Everyday Deliverance.......2006-09-05
Provides a clear understanding of a very complex subject. Not many people know, believe or want to accept what is actually happening in the spiritual world behind the scenes of day-to-day life. Deliverance will help many understand how to be set free from these prisons.
Has more Bible, less opinion.......2005-12-06
Recommended by my grandfather Chuck Hunt who is a Methodist Minister in Georgia, this book seemed less hocus pocus than a lot of other spiritual warfare books. MacNutt is a decent writer, but he is careful not to get bogged down in the opinions of what he thinks. Because the Bible is incredibly vague on the specifics of demon possession/oppression and excorcism it's very hard to find a person who isn't either totally denying the presence of demons or blaming every little happenstance on demon possession. Whenever MacNutt mentions his own opinion which isn't mentioned in the Bible, he always points out that it is his opinion, unlike many other authors who try to slip theirs in, unbeknownst to the reader. Very imformative book, probably the only spiritual warfare book I would read in a group setting because any others are too far-fetched and people quickly become uncomfortable.
Partly helpful--but some problems.......2005-05-24
Although I'm a fan of all of Macnutt's other books, there is a landmine in the middle of this book that renders it dangerous.
Particularly helpful are the latter chapters of this book, which deal with practical issues of spiritual deliverance (e.g. forming a team, finding a place, how to prepare). Highly recommended.
But then there is chapter 6, a lynchpin chapter for MacNutt, in which he denotes the names of demons. Here, abruptly, he disembarks from the Scriptural foundation on which he's rested his case so far, and depends instead on the highly questionable exegesis found in 'Pigs in the Parlor' (there is not one bible quotation in chapter 6). It is this chapter alone that leads me to give this otherwise good book such a bad review--because naming demons is not a necessary part of deliverance--and it leads to the 'demonization of sin', in which people don't take responsibility for their personal sin, but instead blame it on an evil spirit (i.e. "I didn't lust after that woman, the devil made me do it").
So do read this book, but read also 'Power Encounters' by David Powlison, a book built on classic evangelical exegesis. Powlison rightly understands that power encounters with evil spirits do happen, but puts it in its proper perspective in terms of personal repentance and accountability for sin.
Deliverance and Healing Go Hand in Hand.......2004-11-26
I have had this book in my collection for a long time now, and I have been in the Deliverance and Healing "business" for a long time now. I am always impressed with the personal humbleness and straight-forwardness of Francis, and if he doesn't know something, he will tell you that also. This should be in every person's collection, especially for the ministerial body, but there are other books that may lend additional insight to the relationship between medical illness and spirits of Darkness. Here are a couple that I recommend - The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren, and The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide - Tapping into the Miracle by Tiffany Snow. We are in a warfare like no other, and the Lord provides the right information at the right time for it. And NOW is no better time! Blessings to All, as we fight the fine fight!

Book Description
Dear Jack,
I may be a rough, tough solider of fortune but I've me my match!
I'm in Central America on a no-win job and regretting every minute. A woman named Letty Madden hired me to find her missing brother. I'd figured this prim and proper Texas postmistress would run and hide when I named my price: one night. I was wrong.
I swear the woman is my punishment for never giving a damn about anyone. She's as stubborn as a mule and soft and sweet . . . and hell, buddy, I'm in big trouble. Getting out alive is the least of my problems.

Customer Reviews:
Sooner or Later.......2007-09-01
This was not the usual Debbie MaComber book. I read her books because I am sick of reading "sex" novels and this one was just a tad too graphic for me. She could have handled the first chapter or two much better than what she did.
Exciting adventure-romance.......2005-08-22
This is second book in the Deliverance Company mercenary series, between Someday Soon (Cain's story) and Moon Over Water (Jack's Story), about unscrupulous but likable heros who rescue victims of third world terrorists. I wish I had realized that this was a series so I could have avoided reading the books out of order!
Adventure romances are a refreshing change of pace for me, and I really found myself on the edge of my seat while reading. The torture of victims and killings were told in rather gruesome detail, but all-in-all, an interesting and exciting story.
Excellent as usual.......2004-06-18
I found this book to be almost spell binding could hardly put it down. I would also love to read Jack's story and am curious about when it will be out. Ms Macombers books are just great love them all.
Wonderful, exciting, I 'm ready for the next one on Jack........1999-07-20
I love to read a book you can get involved in along with the characters. Someday Soon and Sooner or Later are those type of books, but I am left to wander what will happen to Jack? Is there a woman out there for him? Please write him a happy ever after he deserves one. Better Late Than Never?
it's classic macomber.......1999-02-08
the plot is the usual, but i really find the ending amirable, just that i wish i knew what exactly happened to Jack... it's so irritating to have loose ends.
