5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book.......2007-10-04

I have been read and read this book since I was a small child. It is one of the best books I have ever read. I would recommend this book to anyone. I bought a book for myself as well as a friend to have to read to my children when I have them. This book brings back wonderful memories of my childhood.

4 out of 5 stars Dangerous Journey.......2007-08-07

I bought this to read to my 5 year old. The story is a good pared down version of Pilgrim's Progress, but the illustrations are a little too graphic and scary for a 5 year old. I like the book, but will put it away for a few years until my child is a little older.

4 out of 5 stars Kids Loved It.......2007-04-18

The "4 Stars" are based on the enthusiasm of my kids for this book, discounted to avoid grade inflation. I read this aloud to them, and they looked forward to each installment. As you probably know, this is an adaptation of the classic "The Pilgrim's Progress." What you have here is the basic storyline, heavily abridged for brevity and clarity but with some retention of original text. Bright vivid pictures help to tell the tale. The jacket information leads me to believe that the images are actually taken from a cartoon version (for lack of a better term) of this story, and the images do have that look. The backgrounds are obviously still images that the moving characters were superimposed upon - I have never seen this production on the screen but it looks like it followed the Scooby Doo school of animation. Anyway, my kids are not art critics and the pictures were very helpful in visualizing the story.
I am not an expert on "The Pilgrim's Progress." I know the basic outline of the story. I have tried to read the book but gave up in frustration, and I think I recall watching a grainy film version in high school literature class. The theological message of the whole thing is not real clear to me. Some of the symbols are quite obvious - the burden on Pilgrim's back, the names of his various companions, the ultimate end-game (sort of) - but it's hard to make sense of the order of Pilgrim's various adventures and the parallels in our own lives. Do we always encounter the "Slough of Despair" so early in our journeys, never to return to it? And is that always before the "Wicket Gate" or not (and what the heck is a "Wicket Gate"). Doubting Castle? Vanity Fair? Hmm. Anyway, I wasn't moved to want to read the original, and I wouldn't call this a page-turner, but my kids really looked forward to it each night and that's what I was looking for.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book.......2007-02-10

I have read this story many times to my toddler. She loves the story and the pictures. She loves turning the pages, which are remarkably strong (she can be pretty rough on them). The binding, however, is not so strong and it is falling apart.

The pictures are excellent quality - very realistic and true to the story. I often give this as gifts for friends' kids (though I don't usually give it until their child is 5 yrs old).

5 out of 5 stars A marvelous, illustrious book.......2007-01-16

I'm in fifth grade. My class is starting a new book called a Dangerous Journey. It is an amazing book with a lot of vivid pictures. Sometimes, the pictures are scary(?), but the amazing pictures seem to come to life. You should read this excellent book. A Dangerous Journey is a perfect birthday and Christmas present, too! I'm going to give this book five stars!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent stories by a Marine about our troops in combat.......2006-06-27

This book is a series of snapshots in time covering the exploits of Marines and Soldiers in combat. Since it is written by a Marine, the stories are told from their perspective as opposed to being filtered by the media.

It is a positive portrayal of the events in Iraq. Although the author does insert some political statements into his narrative, his views are not all that different from many of the troops he writes about.

If you support the troops, or know one, and you want to understand what their life is like...you will love this book. If you do not support the troops and/or the only one you have ever met was an actor playing one on a Hollywood screen set...you will hate this book.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2005-05-02

This is a great book. It gets you right in with the action and keeps you reading. What is amazing is that it is real reality and not fiction. Lots of little details are thrown in at the appropriate times, for information and education. Really easy to read and also easy to read in small sections at a time.

5 out of 5 stars Great read.......2004-10-17

Amazing first hand view of our Marines and soldiers in the field. Easy read (even for those without military experience). God bless our American heroes!

5 out of 5 stars War Stories: Operation Iraqi Freedom .......2004-08-31

I received the book on time. Although I bought the book used, it looked brand-new. I was very satisfied with my purchase experience.

5 out of 5 stars How things have changed.......2004-06-02

Being a combat veteran of an earlier era I found Col. North's book a fascinating read on how warfare is waged in this new age of high tech and high media exposure. Unlike steril fact books, this gives you the perspective of the infantrymen who are on the ground, dealing with it every day. I have handed this book off to several of my buddies, who have also been "out of the loop" for a number of years, telling them it's good look at how things REALLY were in Iraq vs. the tainted picture portrayed by the media.

I have not always been a big fan of Col. North's but know first-hand that he will tell it like it is, regardless of how unpopular his message may be. That, in my view, makes him a credible and valuable author, and this, a valuable testament to the men and women serving us in Iraq.

1 out of 5 stars A Traitor.......2007-06-01

How could a Marine (North) even consider selling weapons to a nation (Iran) that financed the suicide attack (carried out by Hezbollah) that murdered over 140 of his fellow Marines in Beruit in '83? It boggles the mind. He is a traitor who should have been sent to Leavenworth, along with all of the morally challanged officers and politicians above him.

1 out of 5 stars Ally of fascism and terrorism.......2005-12-11

The main issue, unacknowledged in North's disgusting, self-justifying book and unmentioned in most of these reviews, is not whether North was acting 'illegally' or without Reagan's consent - it's the fact that he was involved in siphoning money to fascist death squads so that they could overthrow a democratic government. The Contras murdered, mutilated, tortured and raped civilians; 30,000 people lost their lives in the civil war between the Contras and the government. The victims of the Contra attacks were not 'evil Communists', but priests, teachers, nurses and schoolchildren.

The Sandinista government itself was not, as another reviewer claimed, a Soviet stooge, but a non-aligned, Leftist government who favoured a mixed economy, human rights and democracy. The Sandinistas introduced free healthcare and education, land reform and fair elections; they started a massive literacy campaign and abolished the death penalty. The Sandinistas' only serious human rights violation, their treatment of the indigenous Miskito population, was acknowledged as such after pressure from human rights groups, and the Sandinistas ultimately granted the Miskito full autonomy. This is in marked contrast to the US's refusal to even acknowledge, let alone attempt to rectify, its many abuses...

Many of the Contra fighters were loyalists of the previous Somoza regime, a vicious military dictatorship that the US had supported for years. All of the guff about restoring 'democracy' to Nicaragua was either a lie or a gross misunderstanding of reality; it would have been more accurate to talk about restoring fascism. The freedom-loving US appears often to get these two political systems mixed up, given that they also funded, armed and trained barbarous military juntas in Guatemala, Chile, Brazil, Argentina and El Salvador, a country where 70,000 people were killed.

So the issue is not the 'illegality', by US terms, of North's actions. The shocking reality is that North was only carrying out standard US foreign policy. The crimes here are not those of a lone individual, but of an entire administration. After all, in the early 1980s, the World Court indicted the US for conducting a campaign of state terrorism against Nicaragua.

This said, North's role in the funding of the Contras makes him, by any rational standards, a war criminal, an abetter of terrorism, an accomplice in mass murder. That's the real story here.

5 out of 5 stars colonel makes more hits than a nicaraguan death squad.......2005-09-26

colonel north does it again by giving the reader a searing and fascinating look into his life all while importing enough cocaine into america to finance a large village in columbia, what a busy guy!!!. The only thing that disapointed me was the colonel's lack of detail's regarding the time he spent destroying incriminating documents after former head of c.i.a william casey gave him the heads up to get rid of the documents, nice work ollie!!!......

1 out of 5 stars Almost bought it........2005-06-01

I almost bought this book but then read the 9/11 report and was reminded that Mr. North broke the law, was indicted, and then was pardoned because of a technicality;and now for some reason, there are those trying to make a hero out of him....he's taken advantage of his ill begotten fame and has made himself a millionaire...Fox news loves him....I then decided not to contribute to his coffers....

5 out of 5 stars Under Fire : An American Hero.......2004-03-28

This book is a very well written account of Oliver North's life. It details the Iran-Contra situation, his time at Annapolis Naval Academy, his time serving in Vietnam, and among oother things his family life which gives us some personal information about Ollie.

From the time I picked up this book I couldn't put it down for more than the time it took to rest my eyes. This book is very interesting from start to finish and gives you a great look inside the life of a true American Hero.

Approx. 4 hours, 3 cassettesWhen Nate Twitchell discovers that one of his family's hens has laid the biggest egg he has ever seen, he is determined to see it hatch. And when it does, neither he nor his parents, the townspeople, the scientists, or the politicians from Washington are prepared for what comes out!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Would You Like a Dinosaur for a Pet?.......2007-04-09

Nate could hardly believe his eyes when he saw the egg their hen had laid, it was ENORMOUS! It measured 15 inches around. He was really anxious to see what would hatch out of the egg; would it be a huge chicken or maybe a crocodile? It was so big the hen couldn't even turn it herself, so Nate had to go out 3 or 4 times each day and turn it for her so it would get warmed evenly.
When 3 weeks went by, Nate figured it was time for the egg to hatch, that's the usual for chicken egg, but nothing happened. He kept turning the egg faithfully, and another week went by and then another. He was getting really discouraged, but after all the work he'd put in, he didn't want to give up. He gave it one more week.
Then one morning when he came to turn the egg, he found the hen off the nest and walking back and forth with a wild look in her eyes. When he looked in the nest, there was a baby dinosaur. The rest of the story follows Nate and his dinosaur through adventures that will make you laugh and also touch you. Great story!
I loved this book when I was a kid, and when I booktalked it at schools later when I was a librarian, kids were always intrigued by it.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful.......2006-12-20

I remember "The Enormous Egg" from when I was a child. This was one of my all time favorites. I highly recommend it as a must read for all children. In fact, I just bought it for my grandson for Christmas.

Please read it you will definetly like it, I did!!!!!!!! Now, this is about a young 11 year old boy named Nate Twitchal, who lives in Freedom, New Hampshire. He was at his home one day when he was cleaning the chicken house and found a very unusuall egg, if coming from a hen!!! Well, it was true,it did come from the hen, LOL. Nate was soooo interested in what could be in the egg that he begged his parents to let his very suprised chicken to rase it! And they said "fine." So, for many many many weeks the egg finally hatched!! Yeah! You would never guess what was inside of the egg!!.......it was a.....Dinasour!! Then later on Nate meets a ver kind scientist named Dr.Ziemer. He studied the dinosour ber well and he said it was a Tricerotops. The first week it was about 6", The second week it was about double the size, and so on and so forth. Then by the end of the story it is a couple of METERS!!! But, it was a BIG responsibility. There are many conflicts and many good things. At the end the story the government lets Nate keep it and he calls it "Uncle Beasely."Yeeaahh!!!! Happy ending!

5 out of 5 stars It's An American Egg..........2005-06-12

THE ENORMOUS EGG, written in 1956, is the fantastical tale of young Nate Twitchell of Freedom, New Hampshire, who, one fine day, discovers that one of his chickens has hatched out a baby Triceratops.

Author Oliver Butterworth has gifted generations with a classic satire on the American economic and political system, peopled by a cast of amusing characters with some really unforgettable names.

In trying to protect his odd pet from a veritable army of hucksters of every stripe who are trying to exploit "Uncle Beazley" for their own ends, Nate Twitchell teaches us a crucial civics lesson on the importance of free speech in a free society.

A fun and important book written for ten year olds, THE ENORMOUS EGG is appropriate for adults as well. Strongly recommended for all!

5 out of 5 stars Great Book for 10 year olds.......2004-10-24

I teach 5th grade. My class reads this book almost every year as a literature unit. It's a wonderfully imaginative old fashioned story. It also gives classroom teachers a chance to talk about how our government works, the US Constitution and it has a very good message about the evils of McCarthyism (the story was written in the mid 1950's).

Every year it's a classroom favorite with both boys and girls. Kids love fantastic stories and dinosaurs. This book has both!

Highly recommended.

It's report card day-the most dreaded day in Hank's school year. And when Hank gets his grades, they're his worst nightmare come true: a D in spelling, a D in reading, a D in math. After school, Hank and his friends go to his mom's deli. His mom is on the prowl-she knows a report card day when she sees one. Hank tries to stall her, but she's going for his backpack. He's cornered. Hank hands the report card off to his friend Frankie, who gives it to his friend Ashley, who gives it to Robert, who puts it into a meat grinder! Hank watches as his Ds are ground into a big salami, and this particular salami is being made for a very important client. How will Hank get out of this one?

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Hank Does it Again!!.......2006-03-18

We first met our hero, Hank Zipzer, in the book Niagra Falls... or Does It? and learned what a funny guy Hank can be. We met his crossword puzzle crazy dad, his mom who owns the family delicatessen called "The Crunchy Pickle" and who is always trying to invent new lunch meats made out of soy, and also his weird, lizard-loving sister Emily and her pet iguana, Katherine (I ask you, how weird do you have to be to name a lizard "Katherine"??)

In that first book we read the adventures that Hank went through trying to make a working model of Niagra Falls instead of just writing a paper about it, and at the very end when Hank's project make a horrible mess and he spent a week in detention with the music teacher, Mr. Rock, he thought that Hank might have learning challenges and suggested that Hank get tested.

Well, at the beginning of this book Hank is practicing for his weekly spelling test and is having a terrible time trying to remember all the tricky words, like "rhythm". Jumping around the room seems to help, but when he gets to school the next day all those words seemed to have leaked out his ears and he can't remember a thing. In fact, because he argues with his teacher, he winds up being sent to Principal Love's office to do what Hank calls "mole time"-that is, sitting and staring at the Statue of Liberty-shaped mole on the principal's face. To add insult to injury, he gets his REPORT CARD later that day.

Now, MOST kids wind up getting small envelopes with their cards in it, but not Hankie-boy. HE gets a gigantic manila envelope with his report card and a letter from his teacher! What's worse, he has gotten THREE D's!!! He might as well pack his bags and go to South Africa, like Joshua T. Bates was planning to do (ha! Text-to-text connection!) While Hank is trying to think of a way out of this situation, his DAD and NOT his Papa Pete come to pick him and his friends up from school. This is not good and unexpected! He was hoping to talk to Papa Pete and get some advice for how to handle this situation.

They all go to The Crunchy Pickle, and it's there that things get REALLY interesting (and funny!) Hank's mom discovers that report cards are due out and asks Hank for his. Hank pretends to look in his bookbag, and passes his report card off to one of his friends. The report card gets passed around like an unwanted Christmas fruitcake until Robert, a small, geeky kid, sticks the whole darned thing into a MEAT GRINDER! There it gets ripped into shreds and added to a soy salami mix that Hank's mother was working on. She was hoping that a local grocery store owner would like her new soy salami and want to buy some, but when Papa Pete takes one look at the nasty glop in the bowl (complete now with bits of report card) he says they should start over again. Hank is relieved because, at least for the weekend, he's gotten away with not having to produce his report card. He's sure something will occur to him to help fix the situation by Monday.

That is, he's sure until dinner on Friday night when his mom tells him that she secretly put her OLD batch of soy salami-the one with ground up D's and a crabby teacher letter-into the fridge and was planning to give THAT to the grocery store owner, Mr. G. Hank nearly chokes on his dinner and has a heart attack. HOW is he going to fix THIS problem?! You can't eat soy salami with report card in it! (heck, Hank thinks you can't eat soy salami WITHOUT paper in it, either!) How is he going to fix this problem?

Well, he's going to "fix" it in typical Hank Zipzer fashion, of course!! That is, he's going to come up with an incredibly complicated plan that has a very good chance of going completely and utterly WRONG (think of all the trouble he had getting his Niagra Falls project to work and all the trouble THAT caused!).

DOES his plan go haywire? Well, yeah-it would almost HAVE to, wouldn't it? It wouldn't be a Hank Zipzer novel if it didn't! but what exactly happens I won't tell you other than it involves a great big dog, chess pieces, Cheerio, soy salami and, eventually redemption.

What I like about Hank is how realistic he is and how almost all of us have a lil' bit of Hank in us (some, like me, moreso than others). Hank isn't a bad kid; he's not mean or a jerk (that's a job for Nick "The Tick" McKelty), but he's so easily distracted and scatterbrained that it's easy for his imagination and impulses to get completely away from him. Anyone who has learning challenges or has had difficulty concentrating in school or in meetings can certainly identify with Hank.

5 out of 5 stars The report card masscur.......2004-12-16

1)In my book there is about a boy who cant spell very well but he wants to win the spelling Bee. Because The winner gets an A in spelling. His friend Asely won the spelling bee. Then he ends up with all D's in school. When they go to his mom's Deli his other friend put it in the meet grinder. Then the next day they took it to a very important buyer. So read the book and find out what happens.

2)I think this is an Exilent book Because it is very funny. Also because of the sispens you never know what is going to happen next.

3) There is some irony in my book because he sutdy's hard for the spelling bee but he misspells his first word.

4)I gave this book a five star rating becasue it was a wounder ful book. Also it is funny.

5 out of 5 stars My son is 9 and loves it.......2004-02-08

My son struggled to read, we had troubles finding books that interest him. He is on the last book the zippety zinger and has read all the other ones and just loves them all. Thanks Henry Winkler for the wonderful work that you have done. I recommend these books to all kids...

5 out of 5 stars But he gets an A in creativity.......2003-06-05

I remember as a kid, the power the Fonz had on American kids. When his character got a library card, applications for library cards increased nationally. Now that Henry Winkler has turned author, I know he will be impacting more kids in a positive way.

Hank Zipper is a kid with learning disabilities that aren't diagnosed yet. But he doesn't let that stop him. This book moves quickly and is full of vivid descriptions of Hank's adventures. The scene with the two dogs and the chase through the mansion is a hoot!

Kudos to Winkler on this latest venture. This book would be a good classroom read aloud!

5 out of 5 stars Henry Winkler is still a winner.......2003-06-01

This book is hysterical. It helps to have read NIAGRA FALLS, OR DOES IT first, just for the sake of continuity in the story. The description of how the report card ends up in the meat grinder and the meeting of Cheerio the Dachsund and the big dog are hysterical. This book would make a great classroom read aloud for grades 2-5. I think that even the most reluctant of readers would be caught up in Hank's adventures and might even see some familiar traits. Winkler and Oliver vividly and realistically show the struggle that kids like Hank have each day in school. I know that Arthur Fonzarelli would find Hank Zipper to be a cool guy. Aaaay!

Book Description

On Halloween day, Hank comes to school dressed as a table in an Italian restaurant. Nick McKelty, the resident school bully (dressed in a total blood-and-guts costume), thinks Hank's costume is wimpy and that Hank wouldn't know how to be scary and gross if his life depended on it! So Hank decides to create the scariest haunted house ever, and plans to invite McKelty over and show him what scary really is. The only problem is that Hank's dog, Cheerio, is scared of Hank's haunted house. So scared, in fact, that when Hank tries to find him, he's nowhere in sight! Have Hank's Halloween hijinks gone too far?

The entire series of Hank Zipzer books is GREAT!!! My son can't get enough of them. They are a wonderful read, especially for any child who suffers from a learning challenge. Book Description

For Hank, fourth grade does not start out on the right foot. First of all, he gets called to the principal's office on the very first day of school. Then the first assignment his teacher gives him is to write five paragraphs on "What You Did This Summer." Hank is terrified-writing one good sentence is hard for him, so how in the world is he going to write five whole paragraphs? Hank comes up with a plan: instead of writing what he did on vacation, he'll show what he did. But when Hank's "living essay" becomes a living disaster, he finds himself in detention. Strangely enough, however, detention ends up becoming a turning point in his life.

5 out of 5 stars Hooray for Hank Z.......2007-03-25

I discovered Hank Zipzer while watching Henry Winkler doing an interview. He mentioned that one of the reasons he had written the books was because he wanted to explain what life was like for a student who learned in a different way from everyone else. It worked. The book is funny, touching, and true. Hank is a "real" boy. I am currently reading it aloud to my grandson, who is 9, who has some learning disabilities of his own. The story and the characters provide great opportunites for talking about "coping" with problems.

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Series--Even Better on Audiotape!.......2006-07-21

This series is wonderful! While we enjoyed reading each of the books in this series, EVEN BETTER was listening to Henry Winkler read them aloud on the audio version.

My two sons (ages 8 and 11) and I (age 40) were laughing out loud as we listened. Like many other reviewers, we recognized ourselves in Hank.

One of the best ones is _I Got a D in Salami_, the third one.

5 out of 5 stars From a future educator - what a wonderfully written book!.......2006-03-09

I was required to read this book for my college class - "Assessment & Identification of Students with Exceptionalities." We were required to read the book, and then assess Hank for a learning disability. This book was VERY well written, AND it turns out it takes place at MY elementary school!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone. It is very insightful into how a child with a learning disability might feel in school, and even for those who are not interested in that sort of thing, it is just an enjoyable book! I read it in one afternoon, it was just very entertaining! Once I am professionally teaching, I will definitely have my students read this book!

5 out of 5 stars Naigara Falle or Does it?.......2006-01-25

I recommend Niagara Falls or does it to every one because it will have you laughing out loud. This book is about three kids, Hank, Ashley, and Frankie. They were told to write about their summer vacation, Hank decided to make a model in stead. His friends help him make the model of Niagara Falls it even had running water. The all sorts of staff happen in the process of making the model.
The characters in this book are vary funny. Hank is fun and has some goofy ideas. Ashley can tie a cherry stem with her tong! Frankie loves magic and is vary well at it. All these characters are vary important to the story.
This book is about friends, and goofing up. Ashley, Hank, and Frankie are best friends. They help each other out. Like in this book the help Hank make the model of Niagara Falls. They even help him get it to school. Then it goes wild.
Frankie, Ashley, and Hank live in New York City and live in the same apartment. They have a club house in the basement of the apartment. That is were they made the model. They go there to talk and play games. The setting matches the store vary well.
You should read this book because it is vary fun and you will have you leafing. The characters are funny. The theme is funny also. This is why you should read this book.

5 out of 5 stars Niagara Falls or Does It? (Hank Ziper).......2005-11-27

It's an awesome book. I think everyone should read it. I liked how Hank gets into trouble. I like Hanks ideas. Hank is a very smart person.

Book Description

Hank is thrilled about the “Best Field Trip of the Year”—everyone from Ms. Adolph's class gets to spend the night on an old-fashioned three-mast sailing ship in New York Harbor! And Hank gets even more excited when the ship's captain chooses him to be the first mate. But being first mate is not all it's cracked up to be, especially for a crazy captain who takes his job a little too seriously. The best field trip of the year is becoming the worst night of Hank's life—how's he going to get out of this one?

5 out of 5 stars My son's favorite series!.......2007-03-08

My 10 year old son loves Hank Zipzer, I do too. This book is great, very funny and so real you could just imagine your child as Hank. This book is one of our favorites in the series. They are all wonderful books, very entertaining and funny for both children and adults. My son really relates to Hank he has similar issues with reading and writing (Dyslexia), so for him the books are such a great moral boost. These books are written easy enough for my son to read, but yet so entertaining they do not seem too young for a 10 year old. We love them so much we bought a small set for my son's classroom and the school library. This is a series most boy's will relate too!

4 out of 5 stars The Night I Flunked my Field Trip - Good Book.......2005-06-15

I liked how the author had the idea to make Hank lose his permission slip to go on the field trip with his friends. Because his mean teacher gave him only one hour to look for it. It was funny how the captain on the ship made them mop pee off the decks.

I think I liked, "Help I'm trapped in 4th grade" a little bit better. Because it had more funny parts.
Michael - age 10

5 out of 5 stars Great book series for 4th grade boys.......2004-12-13

These books are hilariously funny for 4th grade boys. I'm sure girls can read them too but girls have a dozen or so book series to chose from so this one's for the little guys. I have a difficult time getting my 9 year old to read on his own but with these book, he reads every night and begs for the next book. According to my son, get the first book and then any of the following books can be read in any order.

4 out of 5 stars I can't wait for more Zipzer Adventures!.......2004-11-24

I read the book, The Night I Flunked My Field Trip by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver. I liked the book because it told about a kid who has a hard time remembering things. The book tells about how Hank tries and tries until he finally gets it right!
One of my favorite parts is when Hank unties the rope to learn how to tie it. He doesn't know how to read the directions but he thinks he can figure it out for himself by doing it. The only problem with that is that he doesn't get it right and the ship drifts out to sea.

5 out of 5 stars Great insight on the "How" the mind gathers.......2007-06-30

Oliver's book is a must for anyone advocating any position. I've often heard the mind doesn't know the difference between what you tell it and what one would call reality. Oliver's book explains the workings of the mind in how that impacts one's approach to being effective in a presentation. The story concept falls well into the arena of classical rhetorical research.

5 out of 5 stars Dean Nasser.......2006-08-14

This book shows that common sense still exists at deeper levels of thought and at deeper levels of analysis of human behavior.

5 out of 5 stars Eric Breaks New Ground.......2006-03-24

Much like great athletes such as Wayne Gretzky, who was capable of seeing his game in slow motion while it seemed to speed by his opponents, Eric Oliver sees advocacy and persuasion in a different dimension than the rest of us.

This book is a logical culmination of groundbreaking work that Eric has done over the past decade-plus. His focus on stories--not the ones we develop in our case, but the ones the jurors develop in their heads--does more to shed light on decision-making psychology than anyone in our field ever has.

It takes a while to get through it, but once you've read this book, you'll never look at your cases in the same light again; the light in which you view them will be brighter and clearer.
