Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
The Old Capital is one of the three novels cited specifically by the Nobel Committee when they awarded Kawabata the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1968. With the ethereal tone and aesthetic styling characteristic of Kawabata's prose, The Old Capital tells the story of Chieko, the adopted daughter of a Kyoto kimono designer, Takichiro, and his wife, Shige.
Set in the traditional city of Kyoto, Japan, this deeply poetic story revolves around Chieko who becomes bewildered and troubled as she discovers the true facets of her past. With the harmony and time-honored customs of a Japanese backdrop, the story becomes poignant as Chieko’s longing and confusion develops.
Customer Reviews:
An Exquisite Novel.......2006-07-13
The Old Capital, though mentioned along with Snow Country and A Thousand Cranes in the announcement of Kawabata's Nobel Prize in literature, is not as well-known as either of the other two. Yet it is my favorite of his novels.
Kawabata explores the distances between people, the differences between them, the value of tradition, and the difficulties of knowing in his narration of Chieko's discovery of her twin sister, from whom she was separated shortly after birth by a kidnapping - or was it by an abandonment?
I neither speak nor read Japanese, but J. Martin Holman's translation must be a good one. Virtually every page held me entranced with its beauty.
The Old Capital.......2004-11-19
If you read for plot, this book isn't for you. The fairly dramatic plot (twins separated at birth by a kidnapping)seems almost an aside to the poetic, carefully crafted descriptions of Kyoto life- lanterns, fire flies, cherry blossoms, kimonos. This book will bring you into a world of the perfect beauty and harmony epitomized in Japanese culture and design. The sadness, confusion and longing experienced by the charaters is made particularly poignant by this backdrop of aesthetic perfection and order. Your focus will be on the beauty of the book's descriptions, but it is somehow these descriptions which leave you saturated with the emotions experienced by the characters.
A journey to Kyoto.......2004-10-20
Anyone who has made the journey to the old capital Kyoto or spent anytime in the land of the rising sun will truly appreciate the poetic nature of Yasunari Kawabata's work. Yasunari's avid descriptions are enough to make you feel as though you are there again or visiting for the first time if you have not already. Distinctively Japanese in the themes of nature, tradition and gender roles, this book is sure to touch the soul of any reader. Recommened for the disconcerning reader in search of a little subtle complexity rapped in hidden charm, Japanese style.
wonderful... just wonderful..........2004-01-18
This is my favorite Kawabata book and I've read quite a few. I think it is much better than more famous "Snow Country". It is also much more complex than other Kawabata books, which are somewhat similar in their repetitive descriptions of the relationship between weak man and unhappy woman. This book is mysterious, eerie, awe-inspiring, beautiful, touchingly tender and somewhat weird. At the center of the story are two female twins, their incomprehensible inner universes and strange sensibilities. "Old Capital" is Kyoto - ancient center of Japan and cradle of the beautiful Heian culture. The city is portrayed as a place where past is mixed with present and aestetic sensibilities is combined with everyday routine of protagonists, who are but simple people with their life centered around family, work and small bussinesses.
Reading this book in both Russian and English translations made me realize that a lot of meanings in the book are lost when it is translated in English, because of the complex system of dialogues where the manner of speech is changed accordingly to the status of people conversing and their relationship to each other. Russian, being a much more hierarhical and polite language than English, produces better translation, but than again - as I dont know Japanese, I cant really say how much inferior the translation is compared to the original work.
a different perspective on life.......2003-08-16
I have enjoyed reading Japanese novels lately and I am certainly aware that our cultures are different. "The Old Capital" makes that even clearer. Consider the plot. A teenage girl discovers that her parents stole her from another family when she was an infant. She discovers this, more or less, as the result of meeting her twin sister. They become acquainted with one another and even confuse a young man who couldn't keep track of who was who. There is certainly a lot that can be done with that concept. Yet in Yasunari Kawabata's highly acclaimed novel, the reader is given the sense that there is no shock when the main character discovers these thing. Indeed, there seems to be more emotion expended over the selection for a Kimono pattern. I found myself enjoying the novel yet trying to comprehend this radically different perspective on life. I haven't figured out the Japanese mind as yet but "The Old Capital" is another step along what has proven to be an interesting journey to find out.

Book Description
Today an estimated 30 million Americans are struggling with the healthcare issues of elderly parents - many of them from far away. How can we be sure our parents are being well cared for, how can we protect them from abuse? In Is Your Parent in Good Hands? attorney Edward Carnot offers sound practical advice on these troubling issues - based on his personal and professional experience.. He tells the compelling story of his own battle against the unscrupulous caregiver of his elderly father, the inability of the legal system to protect him, and the resulting chaos that turned his family inside out and ultimately threatened the dignity and independence his father so tenaciously clung to. Though his story has a sad ending, Carnot discovered much that can help others in their quest to protect their aging loved ones. Now he offers expert advice for both recognizing financial exploitation and abuse and the many ways abuse can be prevented. Each chapter includes easy-to-understand vital information on topics ranging from the need for legal documents, such as power of attorney for healthcare and living wills; guardianships, working with officials, police, and the district attorney; to health insurance issues, like the difference between Medicare, Medigap, and long-term care insurance, choosing a residential care facility, including how to determine whether to hire a nurse or private caregiver and when to use an agency; recognizing depression and loneliness; the differences among mental health professionals; senior centers; estate planning issues like reverse mortgages; to planning for long-term care as a family - everything you need to care for and protect your elderly parents - from nearby or faraway. The book will help everyone who has an aging parent or close relative because the story is compelling, the reader can easily identify with the characters, and the self-help guidelines are comprehensive, practical and immediately usable.

A true gem: An informative and cautionary tale.......2006-08-11
Sure, this is a "how to" book on how to protect your aging parents' best interests. You will find that this book contains plenty of information about parasitic forces, and how to combat them. And sure, this is a book about one man's struggle against his father's corrupt home health care provider. But this book is much more than these two things. It is a powerful and true cautionary tale, and good literature in its own right. The strong-willed and loving author was determined to look out for his aging parent's best interests. Throughout the story, he bravely struggles with the indifference, incompetence, dishonesty and greed that infect in the legal, financial, medical and caretaking worlds. Our hero wants you to be armed in ways that help you avoid his nightmare. My kind of book.... If you are a savvy, tough-minded person, then use this remarkable book to keep your sanity and prepare for the battles ahead. You are right to be so determined about things, even if those you care about don't get it. If you are one of those people who blindly assumes that hired financial advisors, caretakers, doctors, nurses, mental health professionals and others will be caring, trustworthy and thorough in all instances, then you need a book like this one. If somebody gave you this book to combat your Pollyanna and naivete, then quit complaining. Shut up and read.
I bought this book several years ago after the author participated in the San Diego Psychological Association's bi-annual conference. I returned to it more recently after reading Marina Lewycka's excellent novel, "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian." Lewicka is an expert on caretaking (see her other titles), and her novel is her somewhat fictionalized story of caretaking and her father. The two stories go well together. An interview with Carnot can be heard on Bill Thompson's EyeOnBooks website.
Fast-paced, Compelling, and Educational.......2003-12-19
I found "Is Your Parent in Good Hands?" to be extremely well written and a compelling story of one man's struggle to protect his aging father from elder abuse. Mr. Carnot's personal story was riveting. And I learned a wealth of information, including Medicare and health insurance considerations, tips on finding a caregiver for a senior citizen, and suggestions on how to help elderly people remain happy and active during their golden years.
Finally, I realized that I was holding the guidebook for helping my widowed father in the years to come. Mr. Carnot must be congratulated for showing his readers how to protect parents from abuse and neglect, while allowing them to maximize their quality of life.
I couldn't put it down!.......2003-12-08
Edward J. Carnot's book, Is your parent in good hands? is riveting. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down which is something that is more usual for suspense novels than for works of non-fiction. Using the story of what happened to his father as a framework, Mr. Carnot mixes suspense with solid information that will be helpful to anyone responsible for elderly relatives, whether they live nearby or across the country.
Would-be writer's are advised to write about what they know. Mr. Carnot's experiences with his father provide the book with its emotional realism about what is involved in dealing with an aging parent, while his background as a lawyer ensures that the advice he gives is legally sound and practical. His writing skill is a bonus.
I strongly recommend this book.
A godsend for baby boomers.......2003-11-29
I am only one of millions of baby boomers who are in the midst of having to face difficult healthcare decisions for aging parents. This book has absolutely defused the anxiety I've been living with for the past couple of years. I've shared the book with my brother and sisters, and we now feel much better prepared to work hand-in-hand with Mom and Dad to address the various issues they are experiencing. I'm so grateful for Is Your Parent in Good Hands? This book is mandatory for all those who need guidance and practical tools for taking care of aging parents. Thank you, Edward Carnot, for the peace of mind you have given me.
Book Description
Chu T'ien-hsin's The Old Capital is a brilliant evocation of Taiwan's literature of nostalgia and remembrance. The novel is centered on the question, "Is it possible that none of your memories count?" and explores the reliability of remembrances and the thin line that separates fact from fantasy.
Comprised of four thematically linked stories and a novella, The Old Capital focuses on the cultural and psychological realities of contemporary Taiwan. The stories are narrated by individuals who share an aching nostalgia for a time long past. Strolling through modern Taipei, they return to the lost, imperfect memories called forth by the smells and sensations of their city, and try to reconcile themselves to their rapidly changing world.
The novella is built on the memories and recollections of a woman trying to make sense of herself and her homeland. After a trip to Kyoto to meet with a friend, she returns to Taipei, where, having been mistaken for a Japanese tourist, she revisits the sites of her youth using a Japanese colonial map of the city. Seeing Taipei anew, the narrator confronts the complex nature of her identity, embodied in the contrast between a serene and preserved Kyoto and a thoroughly modernized and chaotic Taipei.
The growing angst of these narrators reflects a deeper anxiety over the legacy of Japan and America in Taiwan. The titles of the stories themselves-"Death in Venice," "Man of La Mancha," "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "Hungarian Water"-reveal the strong currents of influence that run throughout the collection and shape the content and texture of the writing. In his meticulous translation, Howard Goldblatt captures the casual, intimate feel of Chu T'ien-hsin's writing while also maintaining its multiple layers of meaning. An intertextual masterpiece, The Old Capital is a moving and highly sensual meditation on the elasticity of memory and its power to shape personal identity.

Book Description
In late nineteenth-century America, a new type of book became commonplace in millions of homes across the country. Volumes sporting such titles as The Way to Win and Onward to Fame and Fortune promised to show young men how to succeed in life. But despite their upbeat titles, success manuals offered neither practical business advice nor a simple celebration of the American Dream. Instead, as Judy Hilkey reveals, they presented a dire picture of an uncertain new age, portraying life in the newly industrialized nation as a brutal struggle for survival, but arguing that adherence to old-fashioned virtues enabled any determined man to succeed.
Hilkey offers a cultural history of success manuals and the industry that produced and marketed them. She examines the books' appearance, iconography, and intended audienceprimarily native-born, rural and small-town men of modest means and educationand explores the genre's use of gendered language to equate manhood with success, femininity with failure. Ultimately, argues Hilkey, by articulating a worldview that helped legitimate the new social order to those most threatened by it, success manuals urged readers to accommodate themselves to the demands of life in the industrial age.
Customer Reviews:
excellent work on character & manliness in the Gilded Age.......2007-06-18
Hilkey has written a thorough and very readable (for an academic book) analysis of the highly popular success manuals published between 1870 and 1910. While her first few chapters are given over to an unavoidably dry discussion of the publishing industry and major writers, the majority of the book is spent on a fascinating and far more lively analysis of the content of the guides themselves. Hilkey makes several important arguments, one of which is that, by positing character and manhood as the qualities that separated 'successes' from 'failures,' the writers of manuals attempted to obscure or ignore class divisions in industrializing America and instead insist that the division was between being a manly man, whatever your wealth or occupation, or being shiftless-- which could apply equally to the poor or the dissipated rich. In doing so, the writers promoted a vision of manliness, character and virtue that made it possible for men of varied classes to imagine themselves part of a broad middle class defined by shared values rather than identical socioeconomic background. She also discusses the roles of women, as well as the importance of imagery of sexuality, of machinery and of the battlefield. An incisive analysis useful to any historian of the period, of manliness, class, or popular literature.
Flaws within the thesis.......2002-02-08
This book presents a very interesting background for a very interesting period of American history (the late-19th century). The author explores a crisis in manhood through the use of period success manuals.
The books, themselves, represent a sort of metaphorical voyage for success. The books were very expense (often a whole family's weekly salary) and they were often "gilded" (although, their construction was very cheaply and poorly done). These manuals were written by prominent figures and were geared for subscription selling to rural middle-class families, primarily living in the Midwest.
The "crisis" in the author's thesis, however, is the overlooked fact that these books were merely bought for social status. Not only were these books sold in high volume, but they were often advertised as "no home should be without them". Additionally, the door-to-door salesmen often advised a family that all their neighbors had all made the wise investment, and that they certainly didn't want to be the only disadvantaged family in the area, hence the prestige of ownership.
Certainly, these manuals were read, and, perhaps, utilized to a certain level; however, the author's assumptions regarding their overall extraordinary level of use is flawed. Hilkey asserts that the large number of purchases of these manuals constituted a cultural crisis in the rural areas of the United States, especially among middle-class boys who were growing up in an era of changing social roles and mores.
Simply, Hilkey should re-exam her thesis from the prospect that these success manuals were simply bought as nothing more than very expensive coffee table books with very little readable and implementation value.

Helpful but basic........2000-01-28
The book is basic in its approach to elder caring. Because the book is written by fourteen different people it is repedative in areas. This book completely ignores the wonderful counsel of daily Bible reading and prayer in elder care giving. My Mother suffering with Alzheimer's, loves to have the Bible read to her. "What a friend we have in Jesus".

This book is practical, informative, and uplifiting........1999-08-09
This book gives practical advice and guidance to caregivers of both the elderly and others requiring on-going care. In addition, the book gives positive encouragement and uplifiting thoughts. It would have helped me in the past and I know it will help me in the future. Every family seems to be facing caregiving situations these days. This book will help!
Great book to help deal with the stress of caregiving.......1999-08-07
A superior book to help all ages deal with the feelings associated with caregiving to aging parents. It is a guide to help deal with the non-system of healthcare, healthcare financing, and disjointed services. The key contribution of the book is the interactive format which encourages recording of vital information prior to the time that it is needed in crisis. The 14 friends have made a great contribution of their own experiences and honestly shared emotions to help guide others through tough times. The book is be a must read for all people facing the care of parents. After you read it you will be comforted by the clear understanding that you are not alone and there are sources of help!
Inspiring in so many ways........1999-08-07
This book gives advice on both practical aspects of caring forthe eldery and the more emotional aspect of understanding theiractions. I found that I made quite a few realizations about the behavior of my grandparents (any one of which would have made the book worth my time). The section for recording information such as "Grocery stores that deliver" gave me great ideas about ways to improve their access to things they need. There are so many little things that make a huge impact on our elderly loved ones. This book gives great suggestions. I highly recommend it.

Book Description
Pensionomics puts forward a portfolio perspective on the combination of funded and unfunded pension arrangements. In a second-best type argument it is formally shown that a Pay-As-You-Go pension system can substitute the tradability of human capital: if risk-averse investors were able to directly invest into the present value of future labour income, they would allocate their pension portfolios in both human and physical capital. While this ideal form of diversification can not be implemented due to the imperfection of capital markets, one can design a typical Pay-As-You-Go system in such a way that it allows for the same intertemporal consumption allocations as the first-best solution. This replication works regardless of the demographic development. Therefore, PAYGO should play a key role in optimising the risk-return combinations for old-age savings. Still, not all types of risk can be mitigated and macroeconomic endowment risk remains undiversifiable in any pension portfolio, even if it includes PAYGO elements.

Ownership is THE Key!.......2004-10-20
I am not an economist but that has not prevented me from seeing the solid and compelling arguments laid out in this book to truly turn the United States into an "ownership" society. Many may feel we already have that. I would agree that we have it to a point. But, there are too many structural impediments to real democracy in the capital markets resulting in greater and greater polarization of wealth in our society. If unchecked, I fear that this trend will lead to more and more disengagement on the part of my fellow citizens.
The United States has always been a beacon to the entire world as a result of our economic and political freedom. This book offers a new economic paradigm that will not only continue that but, more over, significantly elevate the US even more as a source of new and exciting ideas that help EVERYONE build a better life.
The proposals in this book are bold. But they are so compelling and, at least in my view, so intuitively correct that they must be heard."
Very timely in an election year........2004-08-24
Our political leaders need to take a long, hard look at Capital Homesteading if they're truly serious about the future of our democracy. As it is currently structured, Social Security reminds me of a federally guaranteed Ponzi scheme. At what point are future generations going demand that they be allowed to opt out of a system that is becoming increasingly unfair?
Capital Homesteading offers a comprensive solution for restructuring Social Security around a new frontier, not one based on land, but based on a different kind of property. In the tradition of George Mason, Capital Homesteading offers a mechanism for ensuring that every individual would have the means of aquiring and possessing property in America's new frontier. Today, America's new frontier is limited only by the creative capacity of Americans to come up with better ideas, inventions, technology, and thrive in the global marketplace. Our political leaders need to adopt a national strategy for rebuilding our country as a nation of owners, because we are quickly becoming a nation of wage serfs. Such a strategy is sitting on the shelf, available at Amazon.com, waiting for a leader to adopt it as his own, and win the undecided voter.
excellent!!.......2004-06-29
This is a great book. The book offers solutions on how to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, encouraging employees to become owners of their company, overhauling the current taxation system, and reforming the Federal Reserve's monetary policy.
I would recommend this book to everyone. You don't need whole lot of background in economic to read this book.
Review of Capital Homesteading for every citizen.......2004-02-07
My sincerest congratulations to Norman Kurland, Dawn Brohawn and Michael Greaney for authoring such an impressive book on Capital Homesteading and how it can avoid bankrupting the Social Security and radically improve the competitiveness of basic industries in America. I am very impressed at the comprehensivenes of this book in addressing through a more just free market system a whole host of economic problems that up to now, seemed to be hopeless. The book is also very timely in that I and other seaman of Oglebay Norton Marine Services recently formed an association called the Oglebay Norton Employee Economic Empowerment Association (ONEEEA) to initiate an employee buyout of the Great Lakes vessels owned by our financially ailing company. The Capital Homesteading book helped me tremendously to understand why many corporations are experiencing financial difficulties and why our economy is so unstable. It gives very clear reasons, scenarios and end results of why these problems exist, offers solutions to these problems and describes in great detail, the benefits of implementing the suggested solutions. I could not recommend a book more highly for educating all American workers and our leaders to the mess we are in. It really brought on a whole new understanding for me, why our present economic systems and corporations are failing and what kind of reforms are needed before it's too late. All of the suggested reforms for simplifying and restructuring the tax systems, governments, social security, credit availability, corporations, etc., seem to have a logic that makes it easy to understand. Many of the problems and failures in our economy that are described in this book in graphic detail, have come to roost in the corporation that I work for. The book makes it easy to see why we, as a group of employees, are so drammatically affected by flaws in our current economic policies. I believe that reading this book very carefully would help everyone to gain a better understanding of our economic problems of today. It is well worth the purchase price.
