I was really hyped up about this book after reading all the great reviews. I thought this might be it. But after reading it, it wasn't much help. It basically said to ignore your negative thoughts, no duh! Einstein, if we could all manage to somehow ignore our negative thoughts then we would all be happier wouldn't we? So there you go, I just saved you about 2 hours of tedious reading in 2 minutes!

Roberts tells an interesting and inspiring story of success through the experiences of a fictional character. Some of the key points yu will learn in this book include, among others:

Finding your right place.
Experiencing the struggle to find the right opportunity.
The trials of unemployment and low income.
Learning how to take the first step towards success.

This book focuses on achieving success through positive relationships and a healthy mental attitude, told through a fictional story, similar to The Wealthy Barber and Og Mandino's style. For more information on achieving financial success, you may want to read "The 17 Principles of Creating Wealth," by Phillip Collinsworth.

I have read all the reviews written about this book so far and find that all the negative comments about this book appear to be based on preconcieved notions and opinions, about the author, rather than the merits of the central message of this Book. In my opinion this Book helps you understand the real secret of Success in all your endeavours in Life,and not just confined to wealth building strategies. The Central Theme of this book will change your Life as it did mine,if you let it.This is an excellent book,easy to understand, and read and comprehend, but it will require constant vigil and effort to put in action, what is revealed in this Book. But if one persists, the effort will be well worth it. I highly recommend this Book to any one with open mind seeking a better Life.

This book really left me feeling that there was more to "our" lives than just waking up everyday and doing the same old thing, without noticing what is truely important and what we do take for granted. Living life is more than wanting "money" to make our life better. Money isn't what makes life better. "Now Is How" is the ticket, grab the book, find a quiet place, lock the door, bolt it, padlock it, don't let anyone in, until you finish it. Great book , wish there was a continuing story to find out if Victor applied his new "wealth" to see if it really made his life better. But this is a great read. Buy it, you won't be sorry. It's a treasure hunt, great detective story all rolled up into Life's Philosophy, and thensome. You won't regret the money you spend if you truely open you heart & soul to what he is saying to all of humanity. It's a great read! What are you waiting for, order the book. One thing more, don't expect to find a secret to making money, this isn't the book. Just "open your eyes, heart & mind"

SImple and Perfect.......2005-05-01

This novel was a fun read with a unique and beautiful lesson woven into the story. It left me with two feelings at the end. FIrst, I was sorry that the story had to end. Second, that I had been shown a new way of looking at life and success that was so simple that I had missed it my whole life. Ken Roberts has a folksy, common sense manner of writing which you can't help but relate to. This is an honest and fresh work that is destined to be a cult classic.

or to quote a particular author. The size of the book ( slightly larger than the typical paperback ) was

Where do I start with these books? Classic! Timeless! Must read! I sound like I'm writing copy for a blockbuster best seller. These books are the basis for many of the wealth and abundance work that we see today. Look at all the new material and then compare with these and you will see that the new ones have been updated in language and example, but the truths remain the same.
I believe in going to the source of popular material and especially The Science of Getting Rich and Think and Grow Rich are the wonderful. Both are short reads, but the concepts may have you going back over and over to clarify what seems to be amazing assertions. Take the messages seriously and you may seriously change your life and financial situation!

Incorrect Author Name.......2007-06-24

Prior review discribes the narrator as being difficult to understand. As another sign of quality, Acres of Diamonds was written by Russell Conwell, the founder of Temple University, not Russell Cornwell. You would think any writer, proofreader, publisher, etc. would have picked this up before packaging and selling a $40 product.

The reader has a strong accent and is hard to understand. The quality of this product is very poor. Also, I understood I was ordering an audio CD, but received a CD with MP3s which I could only play on my computer since I don't have an mp3 player. I know these books are very good and have great information, but this version is not the way to hear these books.

Good Inspiration material.......2007-08-23

I don't often rate items here on Amazon but I felt it necessary after reading some of the reviews here. A number of critics have blasted the recording because of the "boring narrator." Which narrator are you talking about? The one that reads the first 2 books or the other 3 narrators? I am only on book 7 (out of 8) but so far there seems to be a total of 4 narrators.

It seems obvious that the critics never got past the first 2 books. Furthermore, I found his voice pleasant enough and did not feel as if I was being put to sleep. These books are classics with a lot of heady ideas. Personally I feel that some people are just not ready to accept these ideas and so thier minds rebel and force them to do things like go to sleep...

This is a great collection of success literature. All of the titles represent the best in this genre. I particularly enjoy Acres of Diamonds:

Russell Conwell's book, "Acres of Diamonds" was developed from a speech he delivered to church congregations over 5,000 times. The proceeds he earned from this speech are reputed to have given him a fortune, which he used to found Temple University in Philadelphia.

"Acres of Diamonds" is the story of a successful farmer in India named Al Hafed. Hafed is tempted by the allure of wealth and sells his farm to search the world for diamonds. Years later he dies penniless, having not found diamonds. However, back home the man who purchased Hafed's farm accidentally discovers a huge field of diamonds on Hafed's former land.

Conwell uses this story to illustrate that success often lies close at hand, if you are willing to open your eyes and mind to opportunity. Conwell further suggests that most people are "pygmies of their possible selves," rarely achieving the potential of their innate abilities or local opportunities. Conwell also discusses his basic philosophy of business and gives several rules, or suggestions, for budding entrepreneurs:

1. The seeds of fortune are close at hand. Stick with what you know, find your niche, and don't be swayed by the allure of "greener pastures."
2. Find out what people want, and fill that need. This sounds obvious, but many entrepreneurs start with a product or service, and then try to find a market for their product or service. Conwell advises finding the market first, then developing a product or service to meet that demand.
3. Make the best possible product and provide them to a large number of people.

"Acres of Diamonds" was first published in 1921. It is still valid today, and provides valuable lessons to anyone attempting to achieve financial success.

Great Book on the CD

i enjoy all the books but i really like

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

One day, as I was browsing the local chain bookstore, I came across this small book on the "bargain table". How ironic to think that the most profound and life changing work I would ever read would be had for $4.99.

Unfortunately, this writer is still relatively unknown. I have seen quotes from this, his greatest work, "As a Man Thinketh" now and then, but I have seen nothing else.

His Life

James Allen was born in Leicester, England.

When he was fifteen, the family business failed and his father left for America to find work. His father was murdered before he could send for the family and subsequently, James left school and worked for several British manufacturers. His literary career lasted only nine years until his death. "As A Man Thinketh" was his second book.

In fact, it was only upon his wife's insistence that he published the book.

His Works

I have recently discovered the titles of several other books by James Allen and fortunately for all of us, they are still in print. All of these may be purchased directly from Sun Publishing Company or ordered through your normal book retailer. In addition, there is a "Wisdom of Emile Coue and James Allen" CD collection available from Amazon.Com.

This CD has (or should have) the PDF versions of the books listed. However, the file for the book "As a Man Thinketh" only has the book cover and the contents is missing. Additionally, the book "Acres of Diamonds" can be downloaded for free from the Internet, so I really got four books for the money I paid. I have to say, however, that those four books are complete and I didn't find any problems with them. Total contents of the CD: 3.7 MB on 7 PDF files (the 7th file is an advertisement to resell these CDs).

T. Harv Eker has written an excellent book that makes you look into yourself to help identify what is holding you back from achieving your financial goals. In reading this book, you challenge your assumptions about yourself and he makes you think if you are truly willing to do what it takes to be rich. Extremely worthwhile and I will pursue additional materials and opportunities to hear Mr. Eker speak.

Mind Over Matter.......2007-10-01

The key to achieving any goal is to mentally determine that it can be done and that you will accomplish it. This book will help you develop the mentality that will increase your odds of gaining wealth. That quest starts out with a bit of house cleaning. The author first helps you to unlearn all of the bad habits that are holding you back financially. After that foundation is laid, he goes on to layout his philosophies the mind set needed to get rich.

I was uncomfortable with his references to the "universe." He seems to use this term in place of God. I've never heard people speak in that way. Otherwise it is a great read.

Harv Eker has hit the "nail on the head" with this exciting, upbeat, and challenging "How to" for those of us that want to break out of the poor mentality. I have read many books on this subject but Harv brings new insights into a well writen about arena. He has "passion" about his ideas and suggestions for mastering the inner game of Wealth. My wife and I have both read this book and go back and re-read many time. Good STUFF!!

Very Interesting.......2007-09-19

This book is not about how to invest in the market or any get rich quick scheme. It is a holistic approach to how successful people think and do. Although the topic is about having money, it first questions how you feel about having money. The first part is quite interesting as it gives various examples of how, through conditioning, we have opinions which have been formed at an early age, about money. There are NLP ties throughout this book.

Then Eker introduces 17 "wealth files" which each have various strategies, illustrations and comparisons for those that earn money and those who don't. The message is still clear that you must go and take action as nothing is going to simply fall into your lap. That being said, it begins with the mindset first.

This book is well written, and is a fast read. It is also equipped with many great one liner's, metaphors and stories.
