Buddhism for Beginners.......2007-09-22
As a beginning practioner, with little time now to look for a personal teacher, I depend on learning from some of the great teachers, by print or audio media. I found Jack Kornfield's teachings, on this audio course, to be insightful, easy to follow, well illustrated with examples and peppered with his delightful sense of humor. I can only hope to meet him some day. I would highly recommend this audio course to anyone interested in Buddhist philosophy and would wish that some of our world leaders would buy a copy as well!

Easily available ingredients, easy to follow instructions, decent results.......2007-06-19
One cannot expect desserts that look and taste like those with eggs in them. That said, this is a handy baking "manual" for beginners in egg-free baking. Very, very simple to use. I found all the ingredients in the local grocery store, no need to run to a specialty health food store and spend a ton of money! My favorites so far - elegant orange raisin bread, and chocolate cream cheese layered cupcakes! Yumm!
Couple of things - One, wish it had a detailed table of contents. How many pages can one bookmark?! Two, get silicone baking pans vs metal/glass. What a relief!! Three, for recipes calling for baking powder use non-aluminum based ones (I ordered Rumford brand online since it was the only thing in this book not available in my local store). I understand that its healthier and improves the taste.
I am getting this book for friends and family. Will look forward to more from the author!
Good cookbook.......2007-05-15
I really like this book. It has many great recipes. My son is allergic to eggs, so I thought this would be great. I can finally bake something he can eat. The only problem is that he's also allergic to milk and nuts, so we can't use all these recipes. Some we can still use by making additional substitutions. It has great ideas even though I don't usually follow the recipes exactly, but it's a good starting point. It's even given me ideas on how to adapt some of our favorite recipes to be egg-free.
Not inventive, Truly Just for Egg Allergist first timers. Not practical........2007-03-04
I have had this book for a while and it is basically insulting. The recipes are no different than any normal cookbook. Just substitute the one ingredient...Eggs. Which can easily be done with any cookbook. Plus these recipes are definately not a healthier way to cook. Most recipes rely on a heavy amout of butter and sugar. So this book is exactly the title, only. For healthier great tasting recipes or combination allergist, I recommend.."What's to Eat, the Milk-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free Food Allergy Cookbook", plus "The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook".
Bakin' Without Eggs.......2007-01-05
This cookbook has many excellent recipes for those who cannot eat eggs. Each pages is laid out well with the ingredients on the left and the instructions on the right so that it is very eary to follow. The plain butter cookies were excellent and retained their freshness for many days.
Excellent cookbook.......2006-11-03
This cookbook has made our life so much easier. When my daughter was diagnosed with an egg allergy I did not know where to begin. Someone suggested this book and we love it! The recipes are delicious and easy to make. We are always getting asked for the recipes and people can't believe they do not have egg in them. It is my favorite cookbook out of the 3 I purchased. It is perfect for a family that only has to avoid eggs. We plan on purchasing one for both Grandmothers for Christmas because they are always asking for the recipes. I wish Rosemarie Emro would publish a second book.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent work........2007-05-30
Robert Perry makes the Course in Miracles easy to understand with his scholar's approach to the work. He has been a serious student of the Course which is evident in his discussions and explanations. As I read I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude for his contribution to this material.
A must read for ACIM readers.......2007-02-27
Return to the Heart of God is by far the best book I've ever read about A Course in Miracles, and I've read many. It would've been so helpful having the teachings in this book prior to, or even during, my first time through ACIM however, I'm now actually looking forward to reading ACIM again with the new found understanding that Robert Perry provides in this book.
Normally I read books then pass them along or sell them here on Amazon, but Return to the Heart of God is one of the very rare books that are staying right here with me.

Customer Reviews:
Not What I Expected.......2007-09-30
I was hoping for a book more based on Kylie's TV show. The ingredients in this books were too exotic. I want to be able to find most of the ingredients in our local supermarket. I ended up returning the book because I couldn't find one recipe I would even try.
I Love This Cookbook.......2007-08-12
I love Kylie Kwong and this cookbook is one of my favorites. Her global Asian approach to food preparation has taken my cooking to a whole new level. I have introduced products that were unfamiliar to me like Chinese Red and Black Vinegars, Palm Sugar, Kecap Manis and Chinese Cooking Wine, to my existing recipes which has taken my dishes to a whole new level. I love the direction my food has taken!!!! This is a great book.
Kylie Wong.......2007-07-08
This book is a complement to her weekly show on Discovery Channel. I have done many of her recipes and I am very please with both the program and her book. The program and her book both has an exotic quality to it. And both are well done. I recommended both hightly.
Not for the average cook or foodie.......2007-01-19
I was first introduced to Kylie Kwong through her cooking show on the Discover Home channel. On her show, she's always cooking these warm, savory soup dishes with lots of veggies, fish and seafood. Her cooking seems very simple, but this cookbook is anything but.
The recipes it contains are complex and filled with exotic ingredients that i doubt I could even find at my local Whole Foods. There wasn't even a simple seafood soup recipe listed. I flipped through the entire book, and made my final decision after flipping to the one of the last recipes in the book, octopus something-or-other. I'm out.
Kylie Kwong seems very nice, and she has a great cooking show, but this book is a complete departure from the food we see her prepare on TV.
Lovely cookbook as well as TV Show.........2005-11-24
I started watching Kylie's show on Discovery home channel, and I love her recipes, and besides, she's so cute. I can't wait to try the Steamboat recipe, as well as many other dishes in the book. It's wildly creative, and has great color photos as well as recipes and stories. As a matter of fact, I think I'll go buy her other cookbook as well. Kylie, you've got a lot of new fans in America. I love this book.

Customer Reviews:
sugar - sugar - sugar.......2007-09-10
The AHA is another industry vested joke. This book is full of processed sugar, white flour, light/lite this and that (meaning a sugar substitute usually containing aspertame or saccharin is used) and other low fat bastardized poisons. When will the public wake up to this huge cholesterol/low fat/statin drug/heart disease farse. Do some honest research, discover the facts and forget this dogma.
On the other hand...use this book, eat what is recommended, and you'll have so many problems you will not notice any one in particular. I'm sure the junk in the book tastes just fine.
Great suggestions as well as recipes.......2003-05-01
Lots of great recipes that don't have icky ingredients and great suggestions on how to modify your own recipes.
Fabulous.......2001-09-06
This book is fabulous. If I hadn't seen in the title that it was lower in fat and better for you I would have thought the desserts were from the full fat foods. These were easy and tasty.
Low Fat??? Doesn't taste like it!.......2000-11-16
This book is great! As a co-recipe developer on this book I am proud to say that i had a part in the fantastic recipes. Try the pecan cookies or the german chocolate cake. The Orange Bread pudding with sauce is so rich you will need a glass of milk. I have been teaching "fattening" pastry classes for years and this year I replaced a few of the recipes with these and people do not even know. Try it on your family!

The Healthy Heart Cookbook.......2006-11-25
I had a previous version of Joseph Piscatella cookbooks (Controlling Your Fat Tooth) I enjoyed many of recipes in this book but it was falling apart. His recipes taste good as well as low in fat which I was looking for. I gave it only four stars because the index could be much better.

A 4th Course of Chicken Soup for the Soul.......2003-04-29
A 4th Course of Chicken Soup for the Soul
By Melody Beattie, Bob Greene, Edgar Guest,
Harvey Mackay, Pat Riley, and many more
Stories, motivational excerpts
Chicken Soup for the Soul is a fantastic, true book with hundreds of stories inside all about people's real live experiences. The sections covered in here are about love, kindness, parents and parenting, teaching and learning, death and dying, matter of perspective, overcoming obstacles, and elective wisdom. Everyone and anyone who reads this book can find stories that they can relate to, while enjoying them. Happiness and sorrow is merely a speck of all the emotions felt throughout this amazing book. When reading this you are able to learn the different kinds of situations there are and the everyday people who go through them. This book is extraordinary and unique; how it slams real life into your face and shows exactly how unpredictable life can be. It also shows us how we should value those around us, for we do not know when it is anyone's time to go.
All of the characters are real people who have gone through an event and have decided to share it with us. Each story has a beginning, middle, and end to it; just like life. Their stories are there to help others or to send a powerful message across that has once touched them. Each and every story is unique, interesting, and 100% true. So be prepared for any kind of emotions, because in real life you don't always know what the outcome will be.
The stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul are all directly from those who experienced the story. They are all easy to understand and follow. The voice in each story is so strong that it actually feels as though the person is right there telling you their story; it's unbelievable! Though not all stories may be your type or make you feel comfortable, just skip them and move on to those that interest you more. There is something for everyone in this original book. After reading Chicken Soup for the Soul you will be able to truly see how precious life really is.
Too good to describe.......1999-12-02
I have read several of the Chicken Soup books and love them all. A five star rating is not high enough, it should be ten! I recommend all of the ones that I've read to all of my friends and even give out the Chicken Soup Calendars as gifts. I want them to experience the feelings that I have when I read the books. (My favorite story is the one about adoption when a child says that an adopted child is one that grows in her mommy's heart instead of her belly.)
This book, like the first three has moved me........1998-06-18
I had read all three of the Chicken Soup books until 5 days ago when I recieved book 4 for my 11th birthday. There was one story that I read that made me realize what beautiful really is. That story was called "Beautiful on the Inside". It was about a little girl who when told she was beautiful, replied boredly, "Yes, I know!". Then her mother explained to her how to be beautiful on the inside. Then two years after, the child's friend's mother had died and they went to visit her grave. The little girl showed great care and love and sorrow to her friend. Then, after the child's friend left, she asked her mother,"Mommy, was I beautiful on the inside?"
Customer Reviews:
What a lovely book~.......2007-07-28
I serendipitously came across this book and immediately fell in love with the charmingly hand-detailed recipes and little illustrations. It has a great variety of dessert recipes, all of which sound scrumptious and yet look simple to make - I can't wait to try them out!
you dont have to read it..........2001-08-06
you can just marvel at the artworks and the really pleasant colors and that should pick you up from every gloom you have in your life..susan's books have a really nice way of getting a good message across..that no matter how insane the world gets with advances in technology, we will always have a place in our hearts for the simple things in life..keeping in touch through old fashioned letters, preserving family history through scrapbooks and appreciating home made food cooked with love.
A Perfect Gift!.......2000-12-15
In response to ybronw from Canada...Perhaps the duplication of receipes and or illustrations in this book were for the simple reason that it is a KEEPSAKE book..in my opinion , the perfect small gift for that special person that you want to remember for a special occasion. Perhaps, it will introduce the receiver to the incredible talent and sensitivity of the author/illustrator! I enjoy reading the KEEPSAKE books over and over when I only have a few moments to relax and renew my soul with Ms. Branches gentle creativity. When I have more time I pick up her fullsized books for a bigger "taste of peacefulness and tranquility". These are not just cookbooks but reminders of a slower richer way of life.
AWESOME GIFT IDEA.......2000-07-01
As mentioned before in other reviews, this book has downsized recipes and illustrations from Susan Branch's previous books. However, this is a great way to share the joy I have received by purchasing this book for others.
Keepsake Books.......2000-01-25
I purchased all of Susan Branch's books at once--sight unseen--based on the excellent reviews that her books received. All of her books were outstanding BUT I would like to share the following with others who may not realize this: Her keepsake books are basically a copy of what is already in her other books i.e. this dessert keepsake book contained only one new recipe--all of the other pages of this book appear to be copies from her other books--right down to the illustrations. Had I known this, I would not have purchased all of the keepsake books along with her "main" books.

Remember.......2007-09-09
This just doesn't have good old recipes, it has wonderful stories to go along with them. Makes a person homesick for that period of time when there were good cooks, good stories, and a loving family.
Anyone from Kentucky will love it
'Briar Hoppin" Cooking.......2007-04-11
I spent my first 58 years in Dayton, Ohio, my mothers' people hailed from Georgetown/Lexington Kentucky- tobacco farmers for the most part. My materanl grandmother could have written this cookbook. It is the best regiional cookbook, authentic. I have ordered 4 more to share with my children.
Shuck Beans, Stack Cakes, and Honest Fried Chicken.......2006-06-30
This is the best book on southern cooking I've ever found. It doesn't need the first part of the title. "The Heart and Soul of Southern Country Kitchens",is however, quite appropriate. These are the foods I grew up with and have missed for years. Thanks to Ronni Lundy's book I've found them again.
The best ever on "real food".......2006-03-02
This cookbook is an absolute delight to read and to use. I grew up on this food in Louisville, KY. My Dad was a city boy and a firefighter and my Mom was a country girl. We lived on a combination of firehouse/country food and there is no more delicious combination of cuisine. Like a prior reviewer, the excerpt about the Cozy Theatre and the Suburban Fish Fry brought back some powerful memories. That fish was the best I have ever had. Ronni Lundy's book is the epitome of real regional food.
mouth watering .......2005-12-06
Ronni Lundy knows southern comfort foods and like any good southerner has a story that goes with it. Her creamed corn, biscuits, pies, and well any dish in this book are wonderful because it is the honest to goodness recipe handed down from generation to generation. I really like her writing style as she shares some good meals and profiles compassionate people. This book will make your mouth water and wish that you were sitting at her table.
