Book Description
Using the vivid, poignant and personal stories of the members of a website support group she founded (www.depressionfallout.com), Anne Sheffield, the author of two highly acclaimed books on depression, provides an honest record of what happens to a love relationship once depression enters the picture, and offers solid advice on what the non–depressed partner can do to improve his or her own life and the relationship.
Of the millions of people who suffer from a depressive illness, few suffer in solitude. They draw the people they love – spouses, parents, children, lovers, friends – into their illness. In her first book, How You Can Survive When They're Depressed, Anne Sheffield coined the phrase 'depression fallout' to describe the emotional toll on the depressive's family and close friends who are unaware of their own stressful reactions and needs. She outlined the five stages of depression fallout (confusion, self–doubt, demoralisation, anger, and the need to escape) and explained that these reactions are a natural result of living with a depressed person.

disappointed--not what I expected.......2007-08-23
While the author's stages of depression that a couple goes through seemed to be pretty accurate, I was very disappointed by the overall tone of the book. It seemed to me that she basically advocated that the non-depressed partner leave in just about all situations.
I recently went through an injury which took over 3 months to heal, and during that time, my partner and I went through the stages as described. That's why I was excited about getting this book for both of us to read, so that we could understand why I was depressed and why he was feeling the way he was feeling about our relationship. Instead, the book advocates eventually giving up on the relationship and getting out.
Needless to say, my partner didn't need to read that! It didn't really offer any advice about how to work your way back to what you had before the depression-causing event, so I'm giving this a big thumbs down.
Wonderful.......2007-06-27
This book is a godsend. I thought I was having a breakdown until I read this book. I learned that my symptoms were being caused by the depressed person in my life. This book explains how your depression fallout mirrors the depressed person's own illness. You get dragged along for the ride (so to speak). If you are having difficulty in a relationship due to depression, you must read this book.
Unbelievably Misguided.......2007-01-15
I purchased this book for my husband who over the course of our marriage has experienced the challenges and set backs of my depression. I was not depressed when we married and was not aware of the numerous family members who suffer from depression because it wasn't talked about. I read the book first and find it difficult to believe that someone who claims to suffer from depression could have written it. This book seems much more accusatory and places a great deal of blame on the depressed person without any sign of empathy at all.
Depression is not a choice. It is a debilitating illness. The stigma of depression needs to be removed so that families like mine and millions of others are not ashamed to talk about it. I am not ashamed of my depression because I know it is not my fault but many people are and that keeps them from getting the help they need.
It is difficult for any person to live with someone who is depressed and I admire those who do. But the accusations and criticisms made in this book lead me to believe the author has unresolved anger toward that person in her life that was depressed. I think this book is terribly misguided and will unfortunately do more harm than good. I believe there must be better, more objective references out there for the spouses and loved ones of those suffering from depression.
Extraordinary read!.......2007-01-12
As one who has been or is suffering from the fallout of depression, I can say without a doubt this is the best book I have read and I've read quite a few. It involves not only the depressed person, but speaks to the loved ones who are in agony and turmoil right along with the depressed person. I have read this book more than once and go back to various chapters from time to time. I most highly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they are a victim of "depression fallout"!
Amazing, calming resource.......2006-08-13
I wish I had read this book a long time ago, when my boyfriend's depression started. The information is pertinent and it gives tangible advice on what tp do for yourself and your depressed partner.

"Depression fallout" is the emotional upheaval suffered by the friends and family members of someone who's depressed. Because at any given time, 17 million Americans are suffering from depression, there's a huge number of people suffering from this, says author Anne Sheffield, the daughter of a depressive. She compassionately recalls situations discussed in her support group at New York City's esteemed Beth Israel Hospital to illustrate how "co-sufferers" can successfully cope with their grief, confusion, guilt, and reduced self-esteem.
One of the most overlooked yet thoroughly damaged lots of depression fallout victims, she says, are the toddlers and children of depressed mothers. Children with behavioral problems at home and in school may be struggling for attention they don't get from a depressed parent. She writes, "Although a depressed parent of either sex creates problems for a child, the bulk of the research on parental depression and its effects on young children has zeroed in on the mother, because she is the center of a young child's existence: the primary nurturer, teacher, and emotional and social contact. Ideally, a mother is a good listener, communicator, and problem solver; authoritative without being authoritarian; warm and consistent; and tolerant and patient. Mothers in the grip of depression are often just the opposite: harsh, critical, impatient, irritable, and unaffectionate. And because one in every four women will suffer serious depression at some time in her life--more often than not, right in the middle of her prime childbearing years of twenty-five to thirty-five--the research findings are applicable to a very substantial number of children."
Without being flippant, Sheffield inserts bits of humor into the book. She describes what she calls "sticky-flypaper depressives" as those who blame themselves for everything and anything that has ever gone wrong, whether it be a relationship, or, as one psychiatrist recalled from one patient's session, "the bad Broadway season of 1947." She also gives a thorough analysis of the many causes of depression, illustrates the five stages of depression fallout, and considers the benefits and downfalls of psychotherapy and how a fallout victim may be affected by it. Sheffield offers reassuring advice on how fallout victims can defuse stress and rebuild their self-esteem and social lives, abundant resources and references for support groups and informational organizations, and an extensive list of medications commonly used for the treatment of mental disorders. No matter what the age or relationship of the fallout victim, How You Can Survive When They're Depressed will prove to be a much-needed dose of sympathy.
Book Description
Each year more than 17 million Americans suffer from a depressive illness, yet few suffer in solitude.
How You Can Survive When They're Depressed explores depression from the perspective of those who are closest to the sufferers of this prevalent disorder--spouses, parents, children, and lovers--and gives the successful coping strategies of many people who live with a clinical depressive or manic-depressive and often suffer in silence, believing their own problems have no claim to attention.
Depression fallout is the emotional toll on the depressive's family and close friends who are unaware of their own stressful reactions and needs. Sheffield outlines the five stages of depression fallout: confusion, self-doubt, demoralization, anger, and finally, the desire to escape. Many people will find relief in the knowledge that their self-blame, guilt, sadness, and resentment are a natural result of living with a depressed person.
Sheffield brings together many real-life examples from the pioneering support group she attends at Beth Israel Medical Center of how people with depression fallout have learned to cope. From setting boundaries to maintaining an outside social life, she gives practical tactics for handling the challenges and emotional stresses on a day-to-day basis.

A fantastic book.......2007-05-07
It is so helpful to know that I can name what I am experiencing, and that I am not alone. The advice and coping strategies in this book have changed my life immeasurably for the better.
how you can survive when theyre depressed........2007-01-18
I cannot praise this book enough. I have been dealing with my Husbands depression for the past ten years. I had been pulled down in to the black hole with him, believing it was all my fault how unhappy he was. This book has made me realise that it's not me, and its not him, its this awful illness he has. On bad days when everything seemed so hopeless I could read another chapter of this book and feel uplifted. It was like someone had written this book about us! It offers no end of helpful suggestions for yourself and the one you love. It has helped me bring it to my husbands attention and encourage him to get help.Fantastic!!
Remarkably written.......2007-01-12
This book deals with depression from the inside out. It is very informative and insightful and a book I would highly recommend for anyone who lives with a depressed person or is depressed.
A valuable read.......2006-11-06
This book can be a great help. If you are around someone who is suffering from depression, the load of everyday life can be terribly heavy. It helps so much to understand what is going on with your depressed loved one, but also to know that other people go through this too. The realization that you are not doing everything wrong, though the other makes you feel this way often, is very liberating. It can give you the strength you need to put more time and effort into helping the other conquer or understand their own inner tormentor. It can help you objectify the problem and your role in it, and protect yourself by keeping the necessary distance so that you don't get swallowed up by it - and sometimes even to walk away from it altogether if it threatens to destroy you. And if you can get the other to read it, too, then they can read a more objective - and less accusing - report on what life has been (or is) like for you, making it easier for them to understand what you have been going through, reducing the risk of an unproductive me-you discussion.
Though I tend to want to be self-reliant and think I don't need outside help, I don't honestly know if we (my then-boyfriend and I) would have been able to process, and leave behind us (and move on), the terrible period we had together had it not been for this book.
This book saved my marriage and changed my life!.......2005-05-27
As a spouse of a chronically depressed person, I love my husband but hate his disease. I was considering divorce only because I didn't want my young children to be scarred by the nasty affects of his disease.
Reading this book literally saved my marriage and has allowed us to set some ground rules that enable us to have a happy family life. Ms. Sheffield's explanations of the manifestations of the disease help the spouse to understand and adjust the enormous guilt and grief that comes from living with a depressed spouse.
I have recommended this book to everyone I talk with who is living with a depressed spouse. Her examples offer insight I've found nowhere else. AWESOME BOOK!!!!!

Customer Reviews:
Passable as a strategy guide..........2007-06-26
As a kid I always enjoyed reading the strategy guides to my favorite console games, like the Final Fantasy series. Usually these strategy guides had all the information on the actual gameplay/items/locations, plus added touches like 'bonus features' or 'secrets' and even tidbits of information about the game that owners might find interesting. The pages were in color and you could almost read the guides like a good magazine or even a book.
Not so with this guide. As soon as I got this guide in the mail, I realized I would be disappointed. The quality of the printing is low; small pages, black & white print on normal computer printer paper. There are no pictures of items & the descriptions of them are extremely brief and not really useful. The book covers the missions themselves in a brief fashion (a couple pages per mission) with a general outline of the objectives & strategies, with a couple fuzzy screenshots mixed in.
Nowhere is there specific vendor information, ANY information on random encounters or special encounters (which the book bluntly lies about on the back cover by claiming it does have this information), or a tips/tricks section -- of which there are plenty to discover in Fallout Tactics.
All in all this is a mediocre book and you really shouldn't buy this unless you are some kind of avid 'Fallout' merchandise collector. You are better off going online to look at a F.A.Q. or Walkthrough on the game; this book is cheaply made and only covers the most basic essentials of playing through the game.
At this price??.......2004-02-18
I sincerely hope no one would be crazy enough to buy the strategy guide at four times the price of the game. It is a good game, but you can figure out most of the stuff that is in the guide for yourself.
Decent Play.......2001-05-09
I really was put down when I realized how different tactics would be compared to the origional Fallout 1 and 2; it had excellent graphics and a good storyline, and the new and improved items were great. I can't forget the multiplayer and map creators that are readily available, but if you are interested in buying tactics for the sheer RPG value of it,then don't even bother. Go for Deus Ex or Baldurs Gate.
In terms of a standalone game, without comparing it to the others, Fallout Tactics is still an amazing game, and certainly worth getting.
A well layed out book.......2001-04-15
This book has many tables and lists of all the statistics in the Fallout Tactics universe. It also gives information on comabat, charactors (and charactor building), missions, enemies, perks, skills, MULTIPLAYER, and tips on how to win your way to victory. It was easy to understand, the good thing was that it didn't tell exactly what to do. This left the game open, not a complete walkthrough (you know, do this, do that... no fun!). The book really helps make the Fallout expirience ten times better. Buy this book and make the most out of your game.
Book Description
Where will you go when the trouble starts? For countless people around the world, the answer is that bomb shelter down in the basement. In fact, people from around the world have been building shelters to protect themselves from catastrophe—natural disaster, war, nuclear events—for centuries. Waiting for the End of the World is photographer Richard Ross's journey into this quirky, somewhat paranoid, and occasionally beautiful underground world. Ross has documented not only the bomb shelters of the United States, but also examples from Vietnam, Russia, England, Turkey, and even Switzerland, where citizens are required by law to have a bomb shelter.
Ross's subjects include the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia, where a shelter was built to house the entire U.S. Congress, shelters in Beijing, where the Chinese built a complete city underground, and Hittite shelters in Eastern Turkey built some 4,000 years ago. His ethereal images show spaces that at once provide only the barest necessities for survival but maintain a level of idiosyncratic personality that testify to the endurance—and wackiness—of the human spirit.

A quiet little gem.......2004-06-10
I had the pleasure of discovering Richard Ross' latest photographic endeavor at Book Expo last week in Chicago, where it was prominently displayed in the Princeton Architectural Press' booth. The photographs are splendid; quirky, heartfelt, enigmatic, a combo Ross effortlessly seems to get into a lot of his work.
How Ross also got into all these places is another amazing component of this project: he has to be one of the most intrepid, hard-working photo-artists presently at work.
The book is at once a thoughtful reminder of a former era of nuclear peril, and yet the images have a contemporary resonance, faced as we are (once again) with the threat of a world gone nuclear. Congratulations to the author on this tour-de-force effort.
Book Description
So, you've always wanted to learn how to build an atomic bomb? You're in luck: Jim Ottaviani is not only a comics writer...he also has a master's degree in nuclear engineering! But even though it's not a complete do-it-yourself manual (assembly required, and plutonium is definitely NOT included), FALLOUT will bring you up to speed on the science and politics of the first nuclear gadgets. Like its companion volumes, the focus of FALLOUT is on the scientists themselves -- in particular J. Robert Oppenheimer and Leo Szilard, whose lives offer a cautionary tale about the uneasy alliance between the military, the government, and the beginnings of `big science`. FALLOUT features art by award winning artists such as Steve Lieber (Whiteout, Batman), Vince Locke (Deadworld,Sandman), Bernie Mireault (Mackenzie Queen, The Jam), Eddy Newell (Black Lightning, Batman), and Jeff Parker(Interman) and a painted cover by noted Studio artist Jeffrey Jones.

A light introduction to the history of one of the heaviest subjects.......2006-08-17
This graphic novel, subtitled "J. Robert Oppenheimer, Leo Szilard, and the Political Science of the Atomic Bomb", is a good quick read. It's hard for my generation, raised with the fall of the Soviet Union, to appreciate how stupendous the atomic bomb really was. But this book does a great job of making the history of that period accessible. The book is not that short-around 200 pages-but, due to its graphic nature, is very easy to read.
Fallout is really divided into two major sections. The first is concerned with the idea and creation of the atomic bomb, starting from Szilard's ideas in the 1930s and ending with the Trinity test in 1945. The second is concerned with the inquiry into Oppenheimer's advisory position to the Atomic Energy Commission, which occured in the political climate of the 1950s. Both these are worth reading, but the second one, which has much more text-portions of letters are printed along with the graphics-is a chilling reminder of the craziness of that time.
With 6 different authors listed on the cover (and more in the back pages), the illustrations change often enough that you do have to pay attention to know who is speaking. Additional difficulties arise because there are so many characters. I think the book would be stronger if one author had been responsible for all of the graphic content because the characters would be easier to keep track of.
One very nice aspect of this book is the end notes. At the back of the book, extensive text outlines what parts are true and what parts are surmise. As the front of the book saysm "many of the quotes and incidents that you'll think most likely to be made up are the best documented facts." For example, Teller, one of the scientists, denies his similarity to Dr Strangelove, and another, Szilard, devises his own cancer treatment using radiation.
All in all, if you're in for a light introduction to the history of one of the heaviest subjects, Fallout is a good choice.
Fallout is great!.......2002-07-18
Although Fallout is in a comic book format it is serious history. The portraits are accurate. The events leading up to the bomb are covered in depth.
The account of the government's digraceful treatment of Oppenheimer is chilling, reminding us of how the people at the top here were much like the leaders in the USSR.

More science and less conjecture would've been good .......2004-11-20
This was a fairly enjoyable and insightful read; it succeeded in stirring up my thoughts to behavioral control at all levels of society. While Sidman covers a lot of ground, touching on a lot of topics, his broad coverage left him somewhat over-exposed and really highlighted his anti-religous, anti-Capitalist perspective. In regards to politics, religion, business, and the military, he waxes very critical, heaping up a large dose of conjecture about individual and collective motives, which I found pretty mentalistic. As behavior analysts we can't have it both ways, insisting on one hand that we are empirically-driven (and being critical of other branches of psychology for being less-so) and then creating as many unsubtantiated claims of insidious behavior from faceless entities as Sidman does in this text. His strength of analysis was definitely when he kept things in the behavioral realm.
At some points I almost forgot that I was reading a treatise on coercion and thought Sidman was in reality a military insider, providing a blustery expose of the depravities of the defense establishment. He returned again and again to the subject of nuclear weapons, bitterly intoning, like he'd stepped out of the Carter-era, that mankind is assured of destruction. He impugns the U.S. military, stating that "A more immediate threat is the military's appetite for our natural, economic, and human resources." Wow. Perhaps most egregious of all was his discussion of Christian martyrs under a section titled 'Suicide.' Yes, Mr. Sidman actually goes so far as to give a blow-by-blow behavioral explanation of how crucifixion was reinforcing for the individual on the cross. I found it tasteless, insensitive, and not germane to the topic. A final criticism I had was how anachronistic Sidman was at times. He called to task psychologists and psychiatrists for treating feminists and homosexuals as abnormal, when anyone even remotely associated with those fields knows that nothing could be farther from the truth. In conclusion, the book has merits in its analysis of behavior but falters majorly when Sidman tries to squeeze in diatribes about his pet political topics.
Excellent discussion of aversives, and why not to use them.......2002-02-04
Murray Sidman is undoubtedly one of the most influencial of the applied behavior analysts. In Coercion and its Fallout, he provides the most in-depth discussion yet regarding the unanticipated and unfortunate side effects of the use of aversive stimuli (punishers). While I might have a bit of a disagreement with him regarding the way punishers are defined (not in terms of the stimuli's effect on behavior), the arguments are persuasive. This is a must read for anyone designing behavior change procedures.
Informative, exciting and urges the reader to reflect.......2000-06-28
This book is too good not to have a review, so here it comes. It containes a great amount of information about positive reinforcement vs punishment, how these two principles effect laboratory rats as well as us humans, like students, criminals, children, employees, soldiers. It even explains how the Nazis were able to control the Jews in the concentration camps.
If you struggle with these questions, either from a philosophical point of view or in real life, for example when bringing up your child (or even your dog!)or trying to make your employees work harder - this is a great book for you. To me it's as exciting as a good novel. It's not hard to read, but contains so much information that you can't digest it all at once. It's a book to go back to many times.
But the best thing about this book is that, without delivering all the final answers, it makes you think about the frequent use of coercion and punishment in the human society and if there are better ways.
Another book much in the same spirit is Karen Pryors "Don't shoot the dog", also highly recommended.

Book Description
Devastated at being reprimanded for a midair collision, TOPGUN instructor Luke Henry quits the Navy to start a private aerial combat school in the Nevada desert, where he and a number of his buddies, all former TOPGUN fliers -- part of the Old Bro network -- train fighter pilots for the U.S. government. Prior to leaving the Navy, Luke discovers that the United States has purchased twenty MiG-29s -- Russia's front-line fighter -- from Moldova, of the former Soviet Union. These are the very planes he wants to use for his own school, flying the Russian MiGs from an abandoned Air Force base.
But Luke's lucrative contract with the U.S. government comes with a caveat: among his students are a group of Pakistani Air Force pilots -- handpicked by the Department of Defense -- whom he must instruct. Luke is hesitant to train fighters from another country in the skills he learned at TOPGUN, but he won't be allowed to start the school without agreeing. The school opens, but the closer he gets to these students, the more he suspects that they may have an entirely different, and malicious, agenda in mind. They have a bone to pick with the United States and may be using Luke's school as their Trojan Horse to get into the country and launch an attack that would cause more damage than that sustained at Pearl Harbor. It falls to Luke to discover their plan and to stop it before it spirals out of control.
With Fallout James W. Huston scores big with his most riveting and thought-provoking thriller yet. Filled with exciting twists and turns and characters whose motivations will keep readers guessing until the startling conclusion, Fallout is a story of domestic terrorism that is as realistic as it is terrifying.

Action Film On Paper.......2003-10-26
I agree with the publisher's weekly review. This novel was action-packed, which saved the book, but the story plot was not well-developed. The author crammed too much into not enough pages, which took away from the development of the story. The flow of the story was wrecked, because the author concentrated too much on the action. If it weren't for the ammount of pure action and suspense in this novel, Fallout would have destroyed Huston's flow of high-quality techno-thrillers.
Very Fast Pace.......2002-12-21
I thought the book was very interesting as well as fast pace. It could have been a little longer, mainly because it was so good. I would have liked a little more story behind the terrorists preparations prior to entering the school, but other than that I would have to say this is a very excellent book. Anyone who has served in the military will love this book, and even if you haven't I would say give it a shot!
Reads Like Tomorrow's Headlines.......2002-08-23
This is a flatout good read - It kept me turning the pages well into the wee hours. Full of action and intrigue it will carry you along as terrorists penetrate the Homeland to begin carrying out a very plausable and troubling attack. However, it doesn't end there. If you like Tom Clancy, Dale Brown, or Richard Herman
you will enjoy the adventure that James Huston has laid out for you. Buckle up!
Outstanding.......2001-12-23
This book is outstanding. I couldn't put it down. It was even better than Flash Point in my opinion. The plot developed nicely and the characters were described more realistic than many books do. I hope this becomes a movie. I reccommend this bok to all ages.
A good read, but could have been better.......2001-09-04
I enjoyed the book for the most part, although I was left wanting more at the end. I kept waiting for there to be more to the plot. The opening sequence didn't seem to fit with the rest of the book, Vlad's story was incomplete or too glibly finished, and the setup for the climax (the two attacks) seemed rushed as did the climax itself (or should I say anti-climax). I wanted more about the school and the training, more development of some of the secondary characters like Thud and the UFO fellow or Thud's dad. In short, there was lots of potential, but a lot of it was left on the table.

Revolution and Revelation.......2007-03-23
Genevieve is a struggling 9th grader living during the Cold War in the conservative town of Easton, North Carolina. Her town has been hit with a terrible hurricane season and the fallout from this. Still, at the same time her father wants to build a fallout shelter to protect the family from Communists in America. Most notable though is the fallout Genevieve is about to encounter when she becomes friends with Brenda Wompers, the new, radical, and out-spoken liberal that just moved to Easton from California. Gen has always gone along with the teachings and beliefs of her family, but she soon finds that there are totally opposing views in the world and who or what is right becomes quite muddled in her mind. Strangely, she finds herself in the middle of protests against nuclear power, the civil-defense program at school, and other controversial topics. She even goes so far as to attend a school board meeting to support the Wompers in their view that the United States Atomic Energy Commission is wrong and lying. This totally sends the community into a tail-spin. They just wanted the dangers of atomic energy to be discussed in school. Gen did not see how supporting the Wompers made her a traitor to her country.
Unfortunately, the fallout from her friendship and protests against the conservative beliefs of her parents results in family problems, loss of friends, and even being called a Communist by others in her town. The story ends with the near death of the Wompers in a hurricane that helps Gen and Brenda see that everything in life is not so cut and dry. Brenda is now open to the possibility of faith and Gen is open-eyed to the knowledge that she must form and speak her own opinions as well as do what she believes is right, not what someone tells her is right. From here on out, she will research pertinent and political issues before forming an opinion.
Fallout is a thought-provoking story that is action- packed from beginning to end. I think it would be especially appealing to young teens who are trying to form their own independent set of values and beliefs. Also, the colorful and intense characters help to make Fallout a captivating story. It is a book filled with historical and personal learning experiences which made it especially enjoyable to me. Finally, if you are looking for a book packed with struggles, controversy, and discovery then Fallout should be a must-read.

One of 1998's most eagerly anticipated games and sequel to 1997's role-playing game (RPG) of the year, Fallout 2 is a postapocalyptic adventure set in the radiation-ravaged northern wastes of California. As the Chosen One of your village, you must find and retrieve the holy GECK (Garden of Eden Construction Kit) so that you can save your people from suffering. This Sybex guide, written by one of the game's lead designers, is an exhaustive resource that will help prospective Chosen Ones as they journey through the wastelands. The book begins with a section on survival strategies, covering such topics as player character creation, basic combat skills and tactics, and the fluctuating values of town reputation and karma. Other sections of the book include a complete listing of the game's many monsters and nonplayer characters. Weapons and armor are described in detail, as are the many other useful objects you may encounter on your journey.
As with any good RPG strategy guide, this one includes complete walk-throughs for each stage of the game. One of the book's most appealing qualities, however, is that you can glean a ton of useful information without ever resorting to these--and without spoiling key elements of the game's plot. Simply put, this is an excellent, well-written guide that should appeal to all Fallout fans, even those who prefer to make their way through the game without a lot of outside help. Besides, it's worth reading just to pick up on the game's numerous comedic references (Young Frankenstein, South Park, and Monty Python are among the most notable influences). --Michael Ryan

Please don't waste your money!.......2004-03-23
You can use one of the many walk-throughs available online. Just do a search. They work just fine. You really shouldn't pay so much for a guide - they are never worth more that $14.95!
Maps R us.......2000-05-18
If you have never played the game, then play it before you buy the book. You will be disappointed if you try to follow the hints in here. For the rest of us who are die-hard fans, this makes for some good reading, but because it came out before the numerous updates, the info in here is not the most accurate. The maps, however, are the biggest thing in its favor, you get to see the entire cities in one view. buy the book only if you are a hard-core fan, otherwise you won't enjoy it quite as much, there are better walkthroughs on the web.
The layout was a scattered disaster of information!.......1999-08-11
Although I found that many facts were explained along with some great support I thought that the general layout was awful. I also believe that like some others it was missing some vital information that would have brought more life to the game for those that are incapable of finding things on there own (that inclueds me so dont take offence :) ) My suggestions are not to waist your money and look up the stuff on the web. There are a few great walkthroughs out there!
It's Not Very Good...........1999-07-11
The first fallout strategy was better. The walktrhough is especially weak and it misses a lot of the fun parts of the game. If you want a good strategy guide on this 5 star game, just search the web for the no mutants allowed web site. To the book's credit though, it does have a nice listing of the items and weapons, although some of the items and weapons are missing.
A great guide to Fallout 2! A real must-have........1999-05-23
This strategy guide is perfect. It has everything a Fallout player needs. It has descriptions of weapons, armour, non-player characters (NPC's) and more! And the maps are extermly helpful. Some may say it will spoil the game but that's not true, the guide offers you help if your stuck or want a piece of info. You don't have to read the whole guide if you think that will spoil everything. I myself read the whole guide and I think it didn't spoil the game at all. Actually, I think it made the game even more interesting! So for all the Fallout players this is recommended but of course many will want to try beating the game without help but that is nearly impossible because every Fallout player needs help every once in a while.

Everything You NEED TO KNOW.......2006-01-25
Expect this to be just as good as every Prima Book. Quality.
Only good as a "walkthrough".......2005-04-20
This is a good "walkthrough" in that it lays out all the maps in the game, and points out where you should go or what you should do next if you're lost or stuck. However, this walkthrough fails as a "strategy guide" for its lack of strategies. Sure, it's got some tips for certain battles, but it's of no help when it comes to raising characters. It doesn't tell you if the characters in the game has a maximum level, what are the level requirements for each of the skills, how much skill points does each level of a skill costs, or how many more skillpoints will you receive as your character's level increases. These are all vital data a first-timer needs to know in order to create sucessful characters, and none of that is in this guide. In regard to characters and skills, this guide provides absolutely nothing beyond what is already revealed in the manual that comes with the game. What's the use of knowing who you're supposed to beat up next if you don't know how to build your character to get that job done? This guide does reveal hard-to-find secrets, but its lack of character development data also makes its secrets coverage incomplete (as for hidden chars). Overall, the values of this guide lies only in its maps and secret revelations. To me, it's only value is in the secrets, for I don't think it's that hard to find your way in the game. If you think a few secrets in an otherwise unpopular console game and some maps to guide your way in this game are worth ten dollars (or more), then this walkthrough's for you.
