Kevin Trudeau Natural Cures Book review.......2007-09-16
I actually had purchased this book for my husband, thinking he would like it. I opened it up, and could not put it down. Since that time I ordered all of his books reading them with new awareness. This book was incredible, and I believe it to be true. We have completely changed our lifestyles since my husband and I read this book. My daughter was cured from "acid reflux" in 3 days. My son's excema is gone in less than 3 weeks from only eating organic food. This book was not only a great read, it has changed our lives.
Do your homework b4 you buy.......2007-09-15
I was going to by this book through the info commercials that he has as it advertised free shipping. So I called the number.
As usual, with the free shipping they had add ons for additional books, which is understandable
But, when I told her all I wanted was the book and the free shipping, she told me that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to receive my book unless I paid extra for the express delivery fee. I explained to her that, in this time and age to receive something after 4-6 weeks have gone by is just a rip off and I cancelled the order
After doing a bit of homework after that situation I saw a recommendation for Mikhail Tombak books and I bought them and they are great reading for someone that is proactive in their health care......and he is an actual biologist
Great Information!.......2007-09-11
I've been reading and learning about natural health and nutrition for years and I agree with everything that Kevin Trudeau talks about in his books because it is analogous to everything I've already learned in the past. This isn't new information but it's like a complete compilation of all the other books that I own and more. Trudeau suggests reading his first Natural Cures book before reading this one and I agree because his first book is like an introduction to his second book. Even though the first few chapters about the government, FDA, FTC, etc. can be tedious, I believe it is a crucial part of the book because it shows how much corruption is out there in government agencies and big corporations. They aren't concerned about the health of this nation, they are just there to make money. If you don't believe that, look around... the evidence is everywhere. Some people who gave this book bad reviews look as if they've never even read the book. The saying is true, "Don't judge a book by its cover."
PS: If you think his list of suggestions on how to never get sick (chapter 13) is impossible to follow, just do what you can do and gradually add other items into your list of good health habits. You'll be glad you did!
great but not affordable.......2007-09-06
My husband bought me this book cause he's into all that natural healing stuff, and the book is good, but most of the products he recommended to buy (in the back of the book), I would never be able to afford!!! The simple things like apple cider vinegar for acid reflux/weight loss and staying away from food with preservatives was very helpful, but why promote products that most people can't afford?! And I wish their natural cures site gave info for free!!!
Book Description
In her first two books, Byron Katie showed how suffering can be ended by questioning the stressful thoughts that create it, through a process of self-inquiry she calls The Work. Now, in
A Thousand Names for Joy, she encourages us to discover the freedom that lives on the other side of inquiry.
Stephen Mitchell—the renowned translator of the Tao Te Ching—selected provocative excerpts from that ancient text as a stimulus for Katie to talk about the most essential issues that face us all: life and death, good and evil, love, work, and fulfillment. The result is a book that allows the timeless insights of the Tao Te Ching to resonate anew for us today, while offering a vivid and illuminating glimpse into the life of someone who for twenty years—ever since she “woke up to reality” one morning in 1986—has been living what Lao-tzu wrote more than 2,500 years ago.
Katie’s profound, lighthearted wisdom is not theoretical; it is absolutely authentic. That is what makes this book so compelling. It’s a portrait of a woman who is imperturbably joyous, whether she is dancing with her infant granddaughter or finds that her house has been emptied out by burglars, whether she stands before a man about to kill her or embarks on the adventure of walking to the kitchen, whether she learns that she is going blind, flunks a “How Good a Lover Are You?” test, or is diagnosed with cancer. With her stories of total ease in all circumstances, Katie does more than describe the awakened mind; she lets you see it, feel it, in action. And she shows you how that mind is yours as well.

A thousand ways it's fabulous.......2007-09-15
I usually buy these kinds of books but then only read the first and last chapters. I not only read this entire book, I truly enjoyed it. She's the real deal, Ms. Byron Katie. I've never attended a workshop of hers, but I feel like I know her already. And her exercises have really started to change my life.
Striking insight into the mind of a woman who lives beyond attachment.......2007-09-05
Mindfulness practices and philosophies often say, "Be happy, and accept what Is. Be present." *cynical snort* Easy to say, impossible to do. The Devil is daily life. Sure, the Dalai Lama is serene. He meditates seven hours a day, has all his physical needs provided for by others, and needn't deal with any daily details. And he's celibate--no spouse to help him get dressed ("Oh, Tenzin, surely you're not wearing the maroon robes, again!"), and no teenage kids. Who couldn't be serene with that gig?
What's remarkable about Byron Katie is that she's serene in the midst of the modern, 21st century world. She has kids, a husband, an ex-husband, and an international business.
In this book, she attempts to put into words what it's like, living in her world. Yeah, she talks about life and death and grand universal concepts. Yada yada yada. There are a thousand masters who'll tell you about that.
Katie offers something infinitely more valuable: a glimpse into daily life. What is it like to get out of bed when you're not attached to thoughts like "I have things to do?" What thoughts go through her mind? How about when she does the dishes? Or when she trips on her way to answer the front door? What if she's mugged at gunpoint? Or her child dies? Or what if she's struck by a degenerative eye disease while writing the book? How does that change (or not) her world?
Some of her perspectives on life are familiar. Some are vastly different from anything you've heard. Yet her world makes sense, and even though I'm not there yet, it sounds like an infinitely joyous, loving world worth living in.
If Katie isn't a truly free, non-attached woman, she does the most convincing imitation I've ever heard. Buy the audiobook for a look into her world.
This book does NOT teach you The Work, her method of inquiring into your thoughts to reach this state of joy. For that, check out her book/audiobook Loving What Is, which includes facilitation sessions with real people using The Work.
Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life
The Real Deal.......2007-08-25
Katie is the Real Deal, a clear mind experiencing heaven on earth and living with absolute integrity.
Her previous book, "Loving What Is", is the textbook which tells you in disarmingly simple terms how to get there yourself. In my opinion, it is the Alpha and Omega of all truth texts.
A Thousand Names For Joy gives a further glimpse into what life is like in that clarity. It gives me further incentive to go back to the simple instructions in the first book and Do The Work.
Caution: If you want to stay the same, read something else.
Once these concepts and questions start seeping into your consciousness, we're talking about a revolution.
Enjoy!
An Amazing Book.......2007-08-08
This is an amazing book from an enlightened woman...she tells you what it is like to see the world thru her perception. WOW!
Daily exercise.......2007-08-06
The chapters are small so this is a great book to read a chapter every day and get a positive jolt of energy. It's a wonderful way to transform one's life.
Book Description
Call Me by Your Name is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents’ house, a cliff-side mansion on the Italian Riviera. Unprepared for the consequences of their attraction, at first each feigns indifference to the other. But during the warm, languorous summer weeks that follow, unrelenting buried currents of obsession and fear, fascination and desire, intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them. What grows from the depths of their spirits is a romance of scarcely six weeks’ duration and an experience that marks them for a lifetime. For what the two discover on the Riviera and on a sultry evening in Rome is the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.
The psychological maneuvers that accompany attraction have seldom been more shrewdly captured as in André Aciman’s frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion. Call Me by Your Name is clear-eyed, bare-knuckled, and ultimately unforgettable.

passionate..........2007-10-09
i was surprised by a lot of the negative reviews this book got, i thought it was rich and passionate and as the main character, Elio, described each situation or interaction you could feel what he was feeling or even see what he was seeing...the scenes, settings, the characters...his life...it was all so very well put together and drawn out...his love for Oliver was overwhelming, to say the least...
Call This Novel Great! .......2007-09-17
Rather than shelving a large library of used books in my apartment, I keep a small collection of my favorite books . . . the ones I know that I want to read again and again. "Call Me by Your Name" is now in my small collection with "Middlemarch," "Giovanni's Room," "Gut Symmetries," "At Swim,Two Boys," and others.
If literature is an art that can touch one's soul, then I would say that Aciman's novel is one that thrust a sword into the most tender chamber of my heart and tore open old wounds. The effect was sweet and deeply painful, but after the tears it felt like an awakening. This book is rare and very beautiful.
A Heartfelt and Melancholy Remembrance.......2007-09-16
I'm first to admit that the first 75 pages were challenging...I was losing interest, but so very happy I persisted. (Partially due to the fact that I only brought one book for the plane ride.)
Perhaps part of the difficulty for me was that much of the internal narrative resonated to deeply. It came very close to what I'd imagine the dialogue might have been in my head had this story been my own.
What a beautiful novel! I hope others invest the time to read this ruminative and melancholy but ultimately noble story.
Gripping story.......2007-09-12
Aciman writes a truly gripping and emotionally charged story. I have gone on to read his `Out of Egypt' which is, again, beautiful writing.
Where's the Red Brigade when you need it?.......2007-09-11
I respected this book but didn't enjoy reading at all. I concede that the prose did calm down after a while but I had already turned against the book, and its characters -- I think it's not a good sign if I kept wanting the family to be visited by bandits or an avalanche. I concede, too, that Aciman conveys accurately something about love, first love, the pain of desire. But so does Alice Munro just with a simple sentence about how a character parks her car or takes off her shoe. Really not my kind of thing -- does Aciman have a sense of humor?

10 Second Interview: A Few Words with Patrick Rothfuss
Q: Were you always a fan of fantasy novels?
A: Always. My first non-picture books were the Narnia Chronicles. After that my mom gave me Ihe Hobbit and Dragonriders. I grew up reading about every fantasy and sci-fi book I could find. I used to go to the local bookstore and look at the paperbacks on the shelf. I read non-fantasy stuff too, of course. But fantasy is where my heart lies. Wait... Should that be "where my heart lays?" I always screw that up.
Q: Who are some of your favorite authors? Favorite books?
A: Hmmm.... How about I post that up as a list?
Q: What are you reading now?
A: Right now I'm reading Capacity, by Tony Balantyne. He was nominated for the Philip K Dick award this last year. I heard him read a piece of the first novel, Recursion, out at Norwescon. I picked it up and got pulled right in. Capacity is the second book in the series. Good writing and cool ideas. Everything I've like best.
Q: How did Kvothe's story come to you? Did you always plan on a trilogy?
A: This story started with Kvothe's character. I knew it was going to be about him from the very beginning. In some ways it's the simplest story possible: it's the story of a man's life. It's the myth of the Hero seen from backstage. It's about the exploration and revelation of a world, but it's also about Kvothe's desire to uncover the truth hidden underneath the stories in his world. The story is a lot of things, I guess. As you can tell, I'm not very good at describing it. I always tell people, "If I could sum it up in 50 words, I wouldn't have needed to write a whole novel about it." I didn't plan it as a trilogy though. I just wrote it and it got to be so long that it had to be broken up into pieces. There were three natural breaking points in the story.... Hence the Trilogy.
Q: What is next for our hero?
A: Hmm..... I don't really believe in spoilers. But I think it's safe to say that Kvothe grows up a little in the second book. He learns more about magic. He learns how to fight, gets tangled up in some court politics, and starts to figure unravel some of the mysteries of romance and relationships, which is really just magic of a different kind, in a way.

A high-action story written with a poet's hand, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that will transport readers into the body and mind of a wizard.

Superb.......2007-10-10
I purchased this fine book a couple months back and it sat in a drawer while I was finishing another books. I wish I would have began reading it right away because this is a fantastic novel well worth looking at. Bravo Zulu Patrick Rothfuss!
Singularly unparalleled.......2007-10-09
I used to read a great deal when I was a teenager. I went through fantasy novels like some people go through newspapers; once a day with extra on Sunday. Time passed. I grew up and grew away from books in general until now it's a wonder if I take in a novel a year. I was shopping for a book about composting and just wanted something to take me up to that "free super saver shipping" level so I bought "Name of the Wind". It's amazing how sometimes the smallest decisions can lead to something incredibly wonderful.
"Name of the Wind" is the absolute best book I have ever read in my life. It is a rich tapestry woven of colorful and compelling characters, powerful combinations of tragedy and comedy, clever storytelling, and an amazingly detailed world. It is completely incredible and at the same time completely unpretentious and completely unique. It is exactly the kind of book I wish I had written (back when I had dreams of such things). I don't even feel equal to the task of articulating exactly how good this book is.
All I can say is "Name of the Wind" is so good, I feel almost apprehensive about the next book in the trilogy because I can't possibly imagine how any other book could be the equal of this one.
Alchemical Transformations.......2007-10-06
Do NOT read The Name of the Wind! Because after you rip through it, madly, with almost demonic absorption, you will, at last, come to the final page. AND YOU WILL BE SAD. I tell you, this book has some alchemical magic that solidifies in your mind and will take up residence in your soul.
Rothfuss is intimate with madness and magic and he uses both masterfully in crafting the portrait of Kvothe. But you get only one chunk of Kvothe's life, as he unveils it to his biographer, a chunk populated with jesters and troubadours and demons and jugglers, a paramour who disappears randomly, loathsome enemies, a haunting, tragic past, and always, always, the quest for greater magic, for the name of the wind.
You know it's impossible for a first novel to be crafted from lead and authentically and powerfully made into gold like this. Or is it? Easily the best fantasy novel written in my lifetime, with two more installments of the Kvothe life story blessedly on their way. If I were a fantasy writer, I think reading Rothfuss would make me back away from the keyboard and take up lawn darts.
Couldn't put it down!.......2007-10-04
Super! Had to wait for my husband to finish it, and then understood why I didn't see or hear him for three days! Awesome read. Can't wait for the next one!
BUY this BOOK!.......2007-10-03
I read a lot of fantasy, as much as I can get my hands on, I'll give almost any book or series a chance. Sadly, most good fantasy falls short of true literary distinction due to issues of pacing, prose, overly heroic characterization, or editorial discipline. Over the past 30 years the genre has matured significantly, producing a few extraordinary books characters and series, Name of the Wind stands out among these as an elegantly crafted book. The prose is excellent the pacing and characterization never feel forced, and the world building original. The hero of the story Kvothe, though exceptional, possesses many humanizing and frustrating flaws. His motivations and mistakes drive the story forward dynamically. He is not some scion of prophecy nor is he simply at the right place at the right time to take on a cascade of events that will alter the world forever. He feels alive, he makes decisions he makes friends... he makes enemies. Basically, he appears to have free will. This is a rare thing in this genre since plots tend toward the epic leaving little room for characters to influence their existence and environment. When characters take part in events that shape, save, or change the world it often seems like they are merely surfing on wave of events improbably manufactured by the author, making the logical decision the heroic decision or in the case of some authors the most cynical decision possible which yields an all too predictable result: massmarketed canned fantasy. These types of stories can be captivating and entertaining and have their place but ultimately lack craft. A French aphorist once said: "An original writer is not one who imitates nobody but one whom nobody can imitate." This lofty characterization might eventually prove applicable to Patric Rothfuss if his future work conforms to the high standards set by his first. Not worth the money.......2007-05-21
This was not at all helpful. It is nothing more than a notebook full of lines with some vocabulary words on the side of the page. It doesn't even have an index, table of contents etc. I was very disappointed with this and would not recommend it to anyone.

Maybe I misread the description of this book. I was actually looking for the text of the main book in paperback format.

Should be a standard in schools........2007-09-23
This book should have be required reading for any graphic designs school. Being a graphic designer myself, I must say that this book is a valueable tool to sellings and building strong brands. It would have been great to have in school.
Truly a great read!.......2007-08-27
I am in the brand-redesign phase with a local brand/identity designer and purchased your book for additional guidance. It is a truly a great read!
Great Client Education book.......2007-08-02
This has wonderfully designed graphics and charts explaining the identity design process. This is a really good client education book, explaining the design process, why they need design, what identity design consists of, etcetera. I was looking for a book like this to explain to clients why they need identity design, what good it does, what it consists of and why their company cannot do without it any longer.
I also think it would be a good book to use to explain to family members, friends and neighbors "what you do." It would be a good book for someone who wants to start their own graphic design business, who is considering graphic design as their field of study, or who wants to convince others that graphic design is important. I recommend it highly for MARKETING professionals and those in ADVERTISING.
You big, giant companies that have lots of mulah can give this away as a gift to your clients, or use this as a book to set on a coffee table in the waiting room or something. But I am going to use it to explain to clients why identity design is important.
This book is not good for teaching graphic designers about creating brand identity. It is stuff we graphic designers were practically born knowing. But if you are a graphic designer who wants brand identity jobs, get it! It will help you turn your potential clients into clients.
The Bible of Branding!.......2007-07-30

Heavenly.......2007-10-02
I ordered this book for my grandchildren after I heard a reading from the book on a radio program. My daughter loves the book--as do her children. She uses it for story time and devotional time. Clear presentation of the Gospel with each story.
Excellent.......2007-09-08
Instead of just stories this book brings out the "meaning" behind each, that it's all about Jesus.
Showing the Centrality of Christ in the Scriptures to Children.......2007-08-18
Is the Bible a book of stories? good morals? heroes? No, suggests Sally Lloyd-Jones. Influenced by New York pastor and author Timothy Keller, Lloyd-Jones takes the major movements in the Bible's plot line as well as the familiar Sunday School stories and shows children how the entire Bible points to one man, the God-Man: Jesus Christ.
This is an excellent resource for families in a biblically illiterate age. I highly recommend this book to you. Another outstanding resource is David Helm's The Big Picture Story Bible.
An asset to devotion time........2007-08-13
My daughter and I use this book probably twice a week. The stories are short, but not too short. They all leave the door wide open for a discussion about Jesus. My daughter enjoys the stories as do I. Plenty of well-drawn pictures too. An asset to our devotion time.
Wonderful Children's Bible!.......2007-08-09
This book is amazing - it is humorous and interesting and the kids listened with great interest to all of the stories. Every single story mentions Christ and how He is tied into the "big picture" of the Bible - from the Old Testament to the New. We love this book!

Easy, resturaunt quality food........2007-01-11
This book has a good variety of dishes to choose from. They are easy to prepare and most don't require a lot of preparation time. Every thing from the main dishes to the desserts are delicious. Even though every recipe has a name brand ingredient, store brands work just as well in their place.
great recipes........2006-12-14
I thought the above comment was absolutely ridiculous. What people want to know is if this is a good cookbook. I don't think anyone is interested in if brand names are going to be the future of culinary arts. Broken down: good recipes, use generic if you are opposed to "brand names." The recipes range from fast and tasty to complicated and savory. I love this cookbook.
Great recipes!!.......2006-09-22
I have owned this book for years now and have never made anything from it that was not yummy!! I usually ignore the actual brand names and just use the brand that I like or that I feel is the best quality. My mother and sister also own this book and they both love it, too.
Do you want your brands served up by the marketing department?.......2006-03-30
With all the new channels for distribution available and considering all of the innovations in communications (both message and medium) the stakes are not only increasing rapidly -they have been moved. My opinion, the future will very likely be populated by brands that are defined less by big marketing firms and more by real people. This book seems to be ignoring the future.

Found our baby's name in this book!.......2007-09-11
This is a great book for the analytical choosy type. We went through every name in the book and actually found the name for our son. We wanted to make sure we picked a rare name, and this book is a BIG help in finding those rarely used names.
boring.......2007-09-09
too long. i have no idea what the point of this book was. i hated it so much i couldn't get through the first chapter.
addictive reading.......2007-09-08
Much more helpful than a simple catalog of names, this book also makes extremely interesting reading. Why are some names ragingly popular, and why does a name appeal to us? How has a name historically risen and fallen in popularity? I can't begin to count the number of hours before bed I've spent reading this book.
Naming a child is a lovely responsibility. I think this book helps more than any other in making a decision that respects the individuality of the child, as well as the indulgences of the parents.
Very helpful.......2007-08-21
I loved this book. I went through so many name books before I found this one. The categories are fun to read through. I did not know that my name and the one I was considering for my daughter were highly popular in the 70s. All my Aunts' names were the "happy" names of the 50s. This book has very few uncommon names. If you are looking for something ethnic, this might disappoint. It didn't even have "Jolene" but it's pretty easy to guess what the meaning of that is. Because I was looking for a more normal name (even Anica, which I loved, sounded too foreign for my girl) this book was refreshing. I found the perfect name that fit all the categories I liked: Heather.
Great book!.......2007-08-17
I love this book! The author does more than define the names listed. She categorizes them, she shows recent trends, lists similar names to suggest alternatives, and she gives her opinion of each name without insulting or talking down to the reader. It's a great book for soon-to-be parents or anyone that's interested in names. The only slight problem is the fact that the book has been out for about two years, so the trends shown may no longer be entirely accurate, but you'll still be able to get a general idea of the popularity (or lack thereof).

As it becomes increasingly associated with impressive corporate gains realized in recent years by companies ranging from FedEx and Rolex to Starbucks and Volvo, "branding" has developed into one of the marketing world's hottest concepts. And for good reason, contend well-known strategist Al Ries and his daughter Laura Ries in The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding: How to Build a Product or Service into a World-Class Brand.
"Marketing is building a brand in the mind of the prospect," they write. "If you can build a powerful brand you will have a powerful marketing program. If you can't, then all the advertising, fancy packaging, sales promotion and public relations in the world won't help you achieve your objective." A no-holds-barred look at a diverse collection of successful--and not-so-successful--branding efforts undertaken by these and other high-profile firms, their book distills the most critical principles involved into a series of clear rules with straightforward titles such as The Law of Expansion, The Law of Contraction, The Law of Consistency, and The Law of Mortality. While some of their suggestions may at first seem counterintuitive, together they compose a logical blueprint for success in today's ever-more-competitive environment. --Howard Rothman
Amazon.com Audiobook Review
When you call a book The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding, you're pretty much ruling out Oprah's Book Club as potential buyers. (Not that Oprah herself isn't a terrific brand.) This is an audiobook for a narrow demographic: entrepreneurs, top managers, and public-relations directors. Coauthor Al Ries comes off like the eccentric genius that most of these managers keep in a basement office, only listening to when necessary. When he says, "The power of a brand is inversely proportional to its scope," and hectors managers with the idea that "customers want brands that are narrow in scope," you know he's right (he backs himself up with dozens of examples), and you know it's the last thing powerful, expansion-minded businesspeople want to hear. Coauthor Laura Ries, his daughter and marketing-firm partner, also reads sections. (Running time: 1.5 hours, one cassette) --Lou Schuler

Great book.......2007-10-10
Excellent book. Although the 22 laws may not be immutable they definitely are impossible to overlook. This book is packed with practical examples of where major corporations failed and succeeded, by breaking or following each of the 22 laws. Definitely must read if you're interested in creating a strong brand.

Something to think about.......2007-08-11
I read this book with pleasure. It contains a lot of common sense and showed how people are influenced in their choice of branding features by what others have done and not what makes sense. I hope to use much of the information in my firm for our software branding.
