A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Sixth Edition (A+ Certification All in One Exam.......2007-10-09
This is a excellant study guide. Easy to understand and well written. I would recomend it to anyone studing for A+.
Very good book, passed the exam.......2007-10-07
This book was well written, and because of it I passed my exams. There were a couple spelling mistakes, but they are few and far between. Its getting a little bit outdated though, but its still enough to get you to pass. I would definitely read this book, but also have some supplementary reading too that would fill in what this book is missing.
The "Alpha Geek" Rules! .......2007-10-05
Winner!! Mike Meyers writes the perfect book covering all objectives on the A+ Certification exam. Don't be intimidated by the size of this book. The book is a great read and covers everything in a very organized manner. I was able to pass both exams on the first try using this book and the A+ Passport book for a quick review before taking the exams. If you carefully read through the material, you should be able to pass with no problems. I can see now why so many technical college (including mine) in my state use this book as the main study guide. A job well done Mr. Meyers.
book review.......2007-10-02
This book is very informative, current and well thought out. It has provided me with what i think are all the necessary tools to take my A+ Exams.
Seasoned certification series that gets it done!.......2007-09-27
The other book of the set of two that I would recommend for those wanting CompTIA A+ Certification. This book are for those that are already familiar with the material and are more seasoned in the IT industry. It provides an outline of everything you need to know to pass all facets of the exam (and then some).

Bull's Eye: Unraveling the Medical Mystery of Lyme Disease
ASIN: 0967462312 |
Book Description
This book is written not to simply provide the obvious facts concerning Lyme disease, but to provide possible solutions for maximizing the integrity of the body, mind, and spirit. The myth is made clear in this book that true health and healing does not come from a bottle. True health and healing is a function of the human organism. If one must continue to take any medicine forever in order to feel normal then it is obvious that the medicine in not correcting anything, and you will be a slave to the medicine forever. Another myth revealed in this book is the common misconception that "I will be well when my doctor kills all of these bacteria."
This book represents the latest in our scientific advancements, such as the new understanding of how microbes communicate with each other in order to survive attacks from antibiotics; how bacteria are now know to mutate, becoming antibiotic-resistant sometimes potentially within the first 20 minutes of taking the medicine. This book presents the most advanced understanding of how every tissue in the body is indeed a liquid crystal, and how this crystalline matrix is utilized by microbes to communicate across great distances in the body. It goes on to provide the latest understanding of how healing and microbial control is maintained in the body, based upon this crystalline matrix understanding of the human body.
This book has the potential to change the way medicine is practiced. It is written in such a way that is easy to understand, knowing that people with chronic Lyme disease may have more difficulty understanding what they read.
This is a "How To" book that every doctor and Lyme sufferer will find something that will change their life.

Excellent treatment and overview of Lyme Disease.......2006-10-17
I was told I had ALS in April 2002. After research and being put on the right track, I tested positive for Lyme Disease July 2002. I wish I had this book in 2002. Dr. Jernigan's approach and treatment for lyme disease, makes this the best written book on the illness that I have read. Dr. Jernigan explains the complex nature of lyme disease and the steps needed to detox, rebuild and kill the pathogens. An awesome writing style which allows you to understand things as a patient. Dr. Jernigan shares treatment protocols which are easy to follow at home, plus he is reachable at his clinic. After reading the book you have a complete understanding of the disease, treatments options, and hope. Excellent read for a complex disease that leaves many people on their own for finding information and treatment. Like I said, I wish I had this book when I was first diagnosed, but at least I have it now. Jon Davis-Ohio Hunter
Gave me back my life after having Chronic Lyme.......2006-06-04
Since my last review in June 2006, I am still in remission from Lyme Disease and Ehrlichiosis after suffering for over 10 years thanks to this book. Dr. Jernigan addresses every aspect of this disease so not only does one get an education about lyme disease, one is given the tools to learn how to heal themselves.
I don't agree with the "Red Flag" comment that Dr. Jernigan is trying to sell his own brand of neutraceuticals. Dr. Jernigan could use "common" botanicals found from any website or herb stores, but he does not. Instead, he did extensive research on botanicals to see what would be effective and tested them using Bio-Resonance Scanning to make sure not only they are safe, but effective as well.
It is common knowledge that Dr. Jernigan grows his own botanicals as well as harvests them so they are fresh and extremely potent. His products are unique and cannot be found anywhere else. He "designed" what he felt would help chronic lyme sufferers and he is right on the money as I am proof of that. Dr. Jernigan didn't stop there but went beyond where any other doctor has gone studying natural and anthroposophical medicine in Germany and Biological Medicine at the world-renowned Paracelsus Klinic of Switzerland.
Dr. Jernigan's Borrelogen is a very potent "natural" medicine that acts as an antibiotic without the chemicals and helped me tremendously as well as his Microbojen. I must also mention his Neuro-Antitox Formulas because they cleared up my brain fog from the overload of ammonia that the lyme spirochetes cause as well as the horrible pain I suffered in my legs and other joints.
Today I no longer take his "natural" antibiotics since I am totally better. Thanks to Dr. Jernigan's knowledge of detoxing (which I believe even healthy people should do), I detox everyday following Dr. Jernigan's "recipes" and follow this brilliant doctor's protocol as far as positive thinking, eating healthy, dry skin brushing, internal and external cleansing. As explained in this book, lyme disease is one complex disease and must be treated in a complex manner.
This book gives tools that one can incorporate into their daily lives which I find extremely beneficial and of course healthy.
I wonder why the average Lyme Literate Medical Doctor doesn't tell their patients about detoxing as we live in a toxic world and detoxing is part of the recovery process? Something is wrong with that picture. Dr. Jernigan's detoxing methods are just amazing and really do work as we all have toxins in our bodies.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has Chronic Lyme, as well as co-infections. Anyone who thinks that "conventional" antibiotics are the answer should start thinking "outside the box".
Thumbs up to you Dr. Jernigan!
I Returned It.......2006-01-17
Buy Lyme disease and Rife Machines instead. This book is only designed to make you buy expensive products from the authors company. If you're chronic, try a Rife machine.
Good information, but reader beware!.......2005-11-03
As a Christian I found the title interesting and was also drawn to this book because of my interest in alternative medicine. Before reading this book, I had pretty much decided that "beating" Lyme was very difficult, if not impossible, so anything that proposed a way of beating this disease aroused my interest. There is a lot of good information in this book, so I do recommend it. There is a big warning flag, and a big red flag. The warning flag is that the author is selling his own brand of nutraceuticals. This always makes me suspect. To be fair, I have had some of Mr Jernigan's nutraceuticals recommended by an independent lyme literate doctor.
Mr. Jernigan also invites the reader to explore a broad spectrum of remedies, protocols and devices, some of which I would consider to be on the fringe, but keeping an open mind, I suggest that you be the judge. As I said, there was one major red flag. In his chapter on color therapy, Mr. Jernigan states "You can see the effects of color on physiology and the mind, when you go to a bull fight. The matador, or bullfighter, carries a red cape. The color red is converted into a specific vibration that primarily stimulates the bull's adrenal glands...When the bull sees the red cape, his adrenal glands dump adrenaline into the bloodstream, consequently activating his fighting mood..." The problem with this description is that a bull doesn't have cones in it's eyeball therefore it only sees shades of gray, so it cannot be stimulated by the color red. So when I read obvious errors like this, I am suspect. I have written the author but he has not written back to defend his statement. There are other areas of skepticism such as magnet therapy which isn't very well supported by research, and seems to defy logical explanation. So, even with these, and other reservations, I do believe that this book is a good starting place, but there are much better books on the use of herbs and other protocols to treat Lyme. As to his "God-Design living" hypothesis, I do believe that we are a people out of relationship with our creator. We live in a stress infected society, and God did not design us to live under a constant state of stress and rebellion, so I do find his lifestyle suggestions pretty much on the mark.
Have Lyme? This is a MUST!!!.......2004-08-26
I am a doctor in California with Lyme Disease. I have worked with nearly 200 patients with Lyme or related co-infections. This book has been a corner-stone in my practice both in remedies like Borrelogen and Yeast-Ease, and in practical life-style changes that are described clearly and easily implemented. The author, Dr. David Jernigan is extaordinarily gifted; he has a sound doctor's mind, and a good heart to boot. This is an absolute "MUST READ" if you want to have your life back from Lyme!! I got mine back, thankyou!!

Book Description
For eight years after her untimely death in 1991, the evidence of artist Candy Jernigan's life was stored in a quiet Manhattan basement. Drawers and shelves were crammed with paintings, collages, drawings, journals, and eclectic installation pieces like Ninety-nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall-composed of, well, ninety-nine small laboratory bottles of beer on a wall. Little known until now outside a circle of New York's artistic avant- garde, Jernigan's one-of-a-kind talent is finally brought to light in Evidence. The works collected here reveal a fierce and funny creative spirit, an artist whose commitment to documenting life as she really found it led her not only to record sample swipes of the food she consumed, but also to stuff a roadkill rat and lovingly arrange it in a diorama. Jernigan's method - using the precision of a scientist to reveal the souls of discarded objects - makes her advocacy of the overlooked at once surprisingly charming and thought-provoking. Including four gatefolds, Evidence is an art book that gives readers a witty, transformative vision of the stuff that composes our lives - and bears witness to the genius of a truly original thinker.
Customer Reviews:
a touching book.......2006-07-16
This is a great book. Not only is it well-organized, it also shows a great deal of love and empathy for the artist. Candy's work grabs the viewer's attention like the work of few other artists.
Revolutionises the mundane!!!.......2001-12-12
This book has become one of my bedside companions, and certainly will make you reflect upon the world in a manner that is foriegn. It is nothing like you will have ever seen, and it is more wonderful than you can imagine.
In Candy's world, everything; the smears of sauces, the crusts of bread, the crack vials found in New York, a crushed saucepan, a dead rat and the bottletop nearby Jim Morrison's grave, become worthy of attention and transformed into art.
She will make you peer at the sidewalk, wondering about the origins of that dust, make you pocket that docket in the desire to transform into a collage of your day's events.
While much of this book is her collected items, there is life to be found in her minute drawings of bugs and sausages, her tiny print and evidence of her personality is found within her dream based art.
Contrary to the previous reviewer, I find this book marvellously and wonderfully beautiful. In the tiny collections and wry but subtle observations of Candy, her life is documented and her personality radiates to the reader.
This book, seemingly a collection of food scraps and other tidbits, is evidence of her life, yes, but evidence of the beauty we can find within the seemingly mundane, the tiny, if only we give that bread crust, the leaves in the Pere La-Chaise and that dust a chance to be noteworthy.
Evidence: The Art of Candy Jernigan.......2001-10-11
This weekend I read and looked through "Evidence: The Art of Candy Jernigan." It's a fast biography with lots of pictures from Candy Jernigan's journals. It's an amazing and inspiring book.
Jernigan's journals aren't pretty but they are witty and wry and artistic. Candy included smears of food from her meals, dust collected from the steps of the Parthenon, and crack vials collected from the streets of New York. Toward the end of her life, she chronicled lists of the medications and treatments she took to fight liver cancer. (She died in 1991 at the ripe old age of 39.)
Candy's journals show that she LIVED and lived big. It's a pity she's gone but we're lucky she was here and left her wonderful journals behind.
How well do you remember your last vacation?.......2000-08-08
How well do you remember your last vacation? Or a great meal? What do you do to record the beauty around you? Do you notice the horrors of everyday life to which so many people are oblivious? Ms. Jernigan was a consumate story teller. Her stories are not of the obvious, but of the things most of us overlook, ignore and wish we could remember. Absorb this book and you'll never take a trip again without thinking of her work. This book is a true delight. The visual content is wonderful, the text informative and reserved, and the book's design and construction is almost as unique as the subject matter. If you are an artist, traveller - if you are alive - this book should be in you library. More importantly, in you life.
An intimate book about a little known artist.......2000-05-26
This book is an absolute treasure! Evidence: The Art of Candy Jernigan, is an illustrated and collaged journal of her travels--around the world, as well as around the city. One feels almost like a voyeur--the book is that intimate.
The book is FILLED with pictures; photocopies of her travel journal, as well as assemblages and paintings from her daily travels around the city. It is beautifully put together--so much so that it evokes a great deal of emotion. I wish I'd had a chance to meet her!
This book came from Jernigan's wish to have "proof that I had been there." There is some irony in this statement, because she died in 1991 at the age of thirty-nine, and the book was published eight years after her death.
As much as I DON'T like to compare artists, Candy Jernigan probably isn't a familiar name to many people. Having said that, I'll add that her art is reminescent of Joseph Cornell, Robert Rauschenburg, and Jasper Johns--but from a woman's point of view.

Aeromedical Transportation: A Clinical Guide
ASIN: 0387986049 |
Book Description
AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION: MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE AND STABILIZIED PATIENTS is the definitive treatment on the medical evacuation and management of injured patients in both peacetime and wartime. Edited by eminent experts in the field, this text brings together medical specialists from across all four branches of the armed services. The post-Cold War paradigm shift necessitates the rapid-fire response of aeromedical evacuation services to treat and transport patients injured in regional conflicts, in mass emergencies and natural disasters, in the face of terrorist attack, and in the event of biological or chemical warfare. The book discusses the history of aeromedical evacuation, triage and staging of the injured patient, evacuation from site of injury to medical facility, air-frame capabilities, medical capabilities in-flight, response to in-flight emergencies, and mass emergency evacuation. Specific medical conditions are addressed in detail in the second half of the book, including general surgical casualties such as abdominal wounds and soft tissue injuries, vascular injuries, maxillofacial injuries, head and spinal cord injuries, ophthalmolic casualties, orthopaedic casualties, burns, pediatric casualties, obstetric-gynecologic casualties, and more. Over 80 illustrations provide a useful review of transport equipment and both medical and surgical treatment. Algorithms outline patient triage and management from the field or site to the medical facility. This text is a must-have reference for all armed forced physicians and flight surgeons, for general and trauma surgeons, internists, intensive care specialists, orthopaedic surgeons, and public health officers.

Book Description
Using the media to promote public health is an innovative and valuable approach.
Media Advocacy and Public Health develops the concept of media advocacy as a central strategy for the prevention of public health problems. How we think about health problems, and what we do about them, is largely determined by how they are reported on television, radio, and in the newspaper. Often, crucial issues of public health policy are discussed and decided only after they are made visible by the media. A traditional communication strategy like social marketing focuses on giving people a message. Media advocacy gives people a voice. The first book of its kind,
Media Advocacy and Public Health lays out the theoretical framework and practical guidelines to successful media advocacy strategies. Eight case studies, ranging from alcohol to AIDS, vividly illustrate how media advocacy has been successfully applied.
"This book is a thought-provoking, practical guide of how to make a difference to public health using the powerful tool of media advocacy. . . . The book is eminently readable, with handy summaries at the end of each chapter. The penultimate chapter on case studies makes for stimulating, entertaining reading and gives good practical examples, sound advice, and valid reasons for the success or failure of various campaigns. . . . Being an advocate is not easy (indeed, media advocacy is about controversy), but using the strategies outlined in this book will fill those who yearn to make a difference with hope, and provide them with a tool to help make it happen." --Tobacco Control
"The authors of
Media Advocacy and Public Health are successful in delineating [their] strategy, both philosophically and practically. . . . Extraordinary detail provided on how to implement media advocacy. . . . This text is the first of its kind and deserves attention both from the standpoint of potentially using the principles, as well as for what it says about the way people are affected by the media."
--NARPPS Journal
USE THIS QUOTE FIRST
"Do you want to convey your health and safety message through the mass media? If you answered yes, this is the book of concrete examples and advice for you.
Media Advocacy and Public Health can catapult your media advocacy skills to unsurpassed levels of success."
--Ralph Nader, Public Citizen
ALWAYS USE THIS QUOTE SECOND TO NADER’S
"This book is for those who want to move beyond caring to action.
Media Advocacy and Public Health is a valuable resource for those seeking effective, informed, and principled action. For those who want to make a difference, this book can be the difference."
--Reed V. Tuckson, M.D., President, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science
"
Media Advocacy and Public Health is an invaluable tool for activists, health professionals, community groups--anyone who seeks to use the media for social change. Its lively and down-to-earth style makes it a joy to read. It is full of vivid case studies that provide dramatic illustrations of media advocacy's power to shape the debate on critical public health issues."
--Kathryn C. Montgomery, President, Center for Media Education
"Through its provocative and insightful analysis of the mass media's role in the framing of public health debates,
Media Advocacy and Public Health offers a clearly articulated blueprint for potentially successful health interventions. This is a ''must read'' for professionals and academics in the fields of public health, planned social change, and health communication."
--Charles T. Salmon, Emory University School of Public Health
Customer Reviews:
Good introduction to media advocacy.......2000-05-22
This was assigned reading for my graduate level course in health communications. Admittedly it was a little hard to get into (not sure if it was because I had to read it or if it was a bit thick). I'm glad a got past the beginning introductory and descriptive stuff because the rest of the book was great! It offers a different perspective on health communications and really stimulated my thinking about how to use the media and how the media is used. I found the examples Wallack, et al., used were the most educational in understanding media advocacy and public health.

A classic? Not sure..........2006-08-09
Jernigan - I just finished it and I'm now wondering whether I've just read a classic or so-so book. Questions similar to those when I'd finished "Catcher in the Rye" - a book which on first reading had me wondering what all the fuss was about, however upon a second read had me full of praise.
Jernigan details the slow but sure descent in to the hell of alcoholism, failed relationships, fractured families, drugs, and the seeming pointlessness of the daily drudgery and grind both in the workplace and at home.
A series of life affecting events tip the balance out of Jernigans favour - death of father and wife, loss of job, failing relationships. Jernigan desperately tries to bring it all together but alas it's an uphill battle with alcoholism.
A dark book, which are usually the best for bringing the human psyche. If you liked it then other books that come to mind as "Sophie's Choice", "The Butcher Boy", "The Virgin Suicides", various works by Cormac McCarthy and certainly "Blindness" by Jose Saramago.
A classic?...I dunno...maybe worthy of a second read though.
Don't Try This At Home.......2005-07-18
If nothing else, "Jernigan" is great catharsis. No matter how bad your life gets, here's someone who's probably got it worse than you. A drunk man-child who loses a finger and thumb through his own stupidity. He lives with a woman who works sporadically and subsists on rabbits she raises (then butchers) in her basement. There's not much hope for his son Danny either, who wants to be a heavy-metal guitarist, but whose first band breaks up when the bass player kills himself.
The book follows Peter Jernigan through about a year after his wife dies when she gets behind the wheel of a car--drunk and naked--and is killed pulling out of the driveway into traffic. Jernigan's life falls apart further from there when he and Danny shack up with Martha and her daughter, which makes for a weird little foursome. Jernigan loses his job and spends months getting drunk on gin, watching Star Trek, and otherwise lounging around Martha's house. By the end his life spins so far out of control that he winds up shooting himself and almost freezing to death, which is actually recounted in the beginning.
As entertaining as I found Jernigan's narration to be, I wondered at the end about the point to it all. I suppose it's most likely that the author was holding up Jernigan as some symbol of Reagan-era suburban Americana. Didn't really work for me, because I think he's a little more screwed up than your average person. But it makes a great cautionary tale.
One thing I found more and more irritating as the novel wore on was the constant use of italics in dialogue. Every sentence seemed to feature one word in italics, for annuciation purposes I assume. It was clever at first, but after a while it got irritating. Italics are one of those devices based used in rare occasions because it loses effect the more one uses it.
I got this really cheap, so I feel no guilt about reading this book. It makes my life seem a lot less messed-up by comparison. So if you're in the need for some catharsis, I'd say to give this a try.
Very readable but equally derivative.......2005-04-18
If you enjoy the first several pages (which are available here on Amazon.com), then you'll probably enjoy the whole book. I certainly did. But it's no masterpiece. Instead, it's blatantly derivative in substance, and to a lesser extent style, of any number of better books. One of the finer blurbing ironies I've seen is the rave on the back cover of this book by Frederick Exley, who wrote one of those better books, A Fan's Notes. I guess Exley was as susceptible as any of us to the sincerest form of flattery. See also Richard Ford, John Cheever, and even Malcolm Lowry.
A life spiralling downward.......2004-02-14
This novel is a great exercise in language. Its bleak, unsparing outlook is similar to that of the great Richard Yates. Not to be missed.
When Life gets Rough, read this book.......2003-02-13
This book is the darkest painting of suburbia I've read in awhile. If your life stinks, replace it with Jernigan's. Here's what you get----alcoholism, self-abuse, teenage son on drugs, shacking with mother of teenage son's girlfriend, death of wife, death of rabbits for food, loss of job, plus did I mention drinking large quanities of gin. Now why does this character continue to shot himself in the foot (or in his case hand)? Seems like he just doesn't give two hoots. What makes the book work though, is Jernigan's wisecracking nature, basically condescending everything, as his life drops away by his own powers. This is brought on by the tight, descriptive naratives by David Gates, Jernigan's creator.
Not that Jernigan is alone in his life of horror. There's a cast of characters that are barely functioning. Of course, Jernigan cannot stand them. He's going to do things his way and it's a way so unimaginable yet possible, it leaves you riveted.

Book Description
THEY WERE MISFITS WHO HAD TO LEARN TO SURVIVE.
A BARGAIN MADE IN HASTE
Desperate but determined, lovely Brandy answers an advertisement for a mail order bride, hoping to build a new life out West for herself and the five orphans she's taken under her wing. She needs a guide to reach Fort Laramie by wagon train and turns to Thunder, a Cheyenne scout, for help. When he curtly refuses, Brandy is undaunted. And when he's jailed after a gunfight she makes a devil's bargain: he gets his freedom and she gets a guide.
A DESTINY SEALED BY A KISS
Thunder has learned the hard way that prejudice runs deep for half-breeds. Now, his only desire is to live among the Cheyenne people. He doesn't want the temptation beautiful Brandy offers, and the wild passion that explodes between them only hardens his resolve to avoid what he cannot have: another man's soon-to-be wife. But when they reach Fort Laramie, can he truly walk away from Brandy and the rag tag family he has come to love?

Now here's a great story!.......2004-03-03
Brandy barely remembered the time she was little and her mother had left her at the door of the parsonage with only her trunk. When she began a young lady though, Father Brown died and Brandy became the one in charge of the five younger orphans. There was no money, no one coming to replace Father Brown, and soon the parsonage would be closed. Brandy had to do something! She had promised Father Brown to take care of the other five. When she spotted an ad from Sam Owens for wife, she never hesitated to write him in hope of being chosen. She was. The only thing stopping them was the need of a man to take charge of their wagon while with Ward's wagon train until they reached Owens at Fort Laramie. Thunder was the one to fill that role.
The White world called him Thomas Bradley. His mother was staying with her husband among the Cheyenne. But he went to her parents in Boston for an education as his mother wished. He was headed home now to the people who knew him as Rolling Thunder. Taking care of Brandy and her five charges was the last thing he wanted to do. But he had no choice in the matter.
Brandy and Thunder became attracted to each other. However, each knew they would soon be going their separate ways. Neither knew how could possibly make it without the other. But they also knew they had no choice.
***** Now here is a great story! Brenda Jernigan created characters that I fell in love with quickly. I could not seem to read fast enough! The pages flew by! Everything was so well written and flowed so smoothly! Don't start this one until you are sure you will have plenty of time to read. You won't want to put it down. AWESOME! Highly recommended! *****

Dance on the Wind ended much too soon. This story really touches your heart and makes you care about the characters. I loved every minute of the book and it will be a book that I'll read over and over again.

Not the right to pass the Server+ exam.......2003-11-04
I have read and appreciated this book since it got me to understand many details of server technologies, though I must say it is not the right reference book to get you to pass your Server+ exam. I am A+, MCSA, on my way to obtain my CCNA and I have been working in the field for the past 7 years now and I failed by 1 lousy point. I have read the book 3 times, taking notes each time to focus on some very intricate details along with learning some charts "by heart", but some questions I was asked werent covered enough by the book. I'll try the exam again in a few weeks but I'll get my hands on another reference book before I do so.
Nice book but inadequate for the exam.......2003-09-20
Elton Jernigan's Server+ Certification guide was written with the intent to present the material needed to pass the CompTIA Server+ certification. Though the breadth of the material needed to be competent to pass the exam is quite large, my hope in purchasing this book was to at least cover the exam objectives enough to be able to have a fighting chance against the bank of questions presented. I'm A+, Net+, MCP and have over two years of server support experience in the Windows environment.
Though I should have known better than to base my studies on a single book, I felt that my experience plus a good overview of the technologies involved should allow me to pass this test.
I took the test today and failed it by one point. You will not, I repeat not, be able to pass this test with the knowledge presented in this book. Where this book presents beginner's level knowledge of the Server+ objectives, the actual test needs an intermediate or better understanding of hardware and multi-vendor network operating systems.
The exam was intermediate difficulty and you will not pass with this book alone. I'll retest and spend another $207 but with a more in-depth study of the material.
2-stars for at least covering the basics of the objectives.
Most highly recommended.......2002-01-14
Elton has put together an excellent study guide to prepare you for the Server+ exam. In addition to breaking down the exam objectives and thoroughly covering all of the topics, this is a good reference book to have even if you don't plan on taking the Server+ exam. A few of the things about this guide that I thought was especially good were:
-Excellent review of numerous concepts, such as: Intel processors, system buses, RAM types, SCSI, tape backup technologies, Ethernet, & RAID arrays.
-Exam Tips are listed throughout the text to show the items that you should focus on for the exam.
-Step-by-step procedures are provided for many hardware procedures.
-Many good references to online resources.
This study guide has two more things that are especially helpful in preparing for the Server+ exam; Fast Facts & a 150 question practice exam (on the included CD).
Well done Elton.
Good Book.......2001-11-27
I found the Server+ Certification Training Guide to be a good read. Mr. Jernigan's experience really shows covering more than just "how to pass the Server+ exam". I really like the supplemental coverage of hardware! In addition to addressing the Server+ exam objectives, this book is loaded with good practical information and is one I'll keep for reference. I found the numerous other resources (websites and books) throughout the book to be very helpful as well. All in all, I like the presentation of what can be (and frequently is in many other books) very dry reading. I give it a thumbs up!
Serious Objective Errors Found!.......2001-11-25
I can't believe the objective errors I found in this book. For example look
at Excerpt 2 of the "Look inside this book". Look at the objectives listed
and then compare them to the real objective blue print from the CompTIA web
site. Look at top objective in this book "Identify the two types of
networks"--Peer to Peer network, Server-Centric network. These objectives
are not on the exam and NOT covered on CompTIA's objective list! What the
heck is going on!! Also on this same excerpt look at 0.3 at the bottom of
the books objective list it says ""Video Server" and "CD-ROM library server"
ONCE AGAIN THESE ARE NOT ON THE EXAM AND CANNOT BE FOUND ON THE REAL
COMPTIA'S EXAM BLUE PRINT!!!!! There are way more then
the two I have mentioned but after seeing that, I can tell this book is not
accurate. A study guide for the exam should only contain information on what you should study for to take and
pass the exam. I am shocked that anyone has not mentioned this before. Tons
of the objectives in this book are not even covered on the exam. What author
just decided to make up new objectives?????? Very Strange!
