An inspiring tale .......2007-07-06
My 2 year old daughter received this for her birthday this year and loves it! The story of Angelina, the little mouse who dreams of being a ballerina and keeps practising, to the exclusion of all else is something that strikes a chord in any one who has had a serious interest in something, be it dance, sports, etc. I would say that this book is not just for aspiring ballerinas, but for any child that is keen on pursuing an interest seriously. And I love the fact that towards the end, Angelina's parents take her passion for dancing seriously, and buy her a tu-tu & sign her up for classes...it gives hope to a child and that is absolutely priceless. A wonderful, inspiring tale of dreams that turn into reality. The illustrations are a delight too!
For my Mom........2007-05-12
I bought this book for my mom. Lots of kids show up at her house.
a mom's review...........2005-12-07
beautifully illustrated, heartwarming childrens stories. Even though the Angelina stories are geared towards girls, my little boy, at 8, enjoyed these as well, especially when mom read to him. These are good stories to read to your child at bedtime.
The artwork is detailed and delightful to look at-you'll see new things each time you look, and children love that that every scene is filled with many little mice.
This Angelina story deals our hopes and dreams(in Angelina's case constant dancing)-to follow your dreams but at the same time know there is a time and place for fun, and a time to do your work. Each book is filled with wonderful life lessons told in a gentle, non preachy way.
I highly recommend this series for any child.

Adorable Book For Your Ballerina.......2003-01-04
Angelina Ballerina is a little mouse, whom loves to dance. She dances all over the schoolyard, and through the house. Finally her parents enroll her in a ballet class, where she becomes one of the best students.
Angelina Ballerina is enjoyable for little ballerinas of all ages. Not only will it encourage your little ones to read, but to also have faith in themselves when trying something new. The illustrations will also make you and your little ones smile in excitement. A must have book for all ballerinas.
My daughter's favorite!.......2002-10-18
We bought this book at a festival of books. The author did a reading and then signed the books. Ever since then, my 5 year old, Xotchitl, has not put it down! It is a great book! She is hoping that Santa Clause will bring her the rest of the Angelina books!

Another Angelina Success.......2007-05-24
Like all of the "Angelina Ballerina" series, this one is beautifully illustrated and has content interesting to pre-schoolers, including the idea that children can do some work to earn something they really want. Angelina and her friend Alice have set-backs and successes with, of course, a happy and satisfying ending.
Unlike previous books, however, the cover has shiny silver among the lovely pastel colors making it a must-touch book among others on the shelf. "Angelina" is my granddaughters' favorite book but they are too young to write their own reviews so I have done it for them.
Good Book.......2003-03-11
Angelina loved her bicycle and rode it everywhere. Her best friend was Alice. This year for her birthday they were going to have a picnic. Angelina and Alice went to the village to buy some decorations for her party. On the way back they raced, and Angelina hit a rock and crashed. She hurt her leg and ruined her favorite bike. Angelina and Alice started doing odd jobs to earn money so Angelina could buy a new bike. They mowed grass, picked apples, hung laundry, watered the garden, planted raspberries and strawberries, and washed floors. Angelina still didnýt have enough money to buy a bike. On their walk back from the village to buy more balloons, Angelina saw the best bike ever in the window of the bicycle shop and she wished she had enough money to buy it. The day of her party came and Angelina received hair ribbons, books, a ballerina, and a silver horn for her new bike. Everyone had pitched in to buy Angelina the bike she had wanted. She was so surprised and decided to take everyone on a bicycle ride through the hills. I think this was a good book because Angelina worked to buy herself a new bike, and in the end everyone realized how hard she had worked so they decided to get her it for her birthday. ~ Katelyn Carson
Wonderful.......2002-01-23
In this next book in the Angelina Ballerina series, Angelina prepares for her birthday. However, getting into a bike race with her Alice, Angelina hits a rock and damages her bike beyond repair. When her mother suggests that she can work to raise the money for a new bike, Angelina throws herself wholeheartedly into her work, and birthday are such wonderful times...
Such a wonderful book! I do love Katherine Holabird's work! Although I should say hers, and Helen Craig's, for the illustrations do make this book come so alive. My daughter and I love this book, and recommend it to you.
Reprint of older, out-of-print book!.......2001-11-28
If you already own 'Angelina's Birthday Surprise', don't buy this book! It is identical in every way. I know because I purchased both to complete my daughter's Angelina book collection, since there we no details on either book at the time. It is another cute Angelina book. This one is about Angelina having a bicycling accident which ruins her old bike, then getting a new one as a surprise birthday gift after working hard to earn the money to purchase it herself.

KMB's review on angelina.......2007-05-21
Excellent book. I bought it for a friend of the family who is about to start a ballet class and she was ecstatic. Is this just like my class?, she kept saying. Yep, I said just like it. She likes to keep it by her side.
Poor design.......2007-01-09
This is an adorable book, but I don't know what the publisher was thinking when they attached the casing of ribbons to the front cover. The only way to remove the plastic casing causes a big, circular tear to the cover! I would not have ordered this book had there been any indication that it would come with packaging on the cover. Buy the hardcover!
Wonderful gift for "Nana's".......2004-10-03
My nine-year-old granddaughter is just starting ballet, with the help of me, her long-ago dancer "Nana." These Angelina Ballerina books make perfect gifts for her - thank you for making lots of t hem! We got this one first, before her first class, so that she could see some of the "steps."
Since then I have given her more, and in fact just ordered another one. She always loves them, and so do I. The illustrations are charming, and there is a nice moral in most of them.
Review by Janet Knori, author of Awakening In God
This book IS a ballet class!.......2004-02-28
Great book! I don't know enough to teach my 4 year old ballet, so I narrate for her living room ballet class by reading the book aloud. I love the fact that it shows me how to pronounce the names of various ballet steps. Plus the descriptions of the steps are good enough that I can help her learn some. The flip book is a fun extra, but don't buy the book for that as it is hard for little hands to 'flip' the pages. Use ribbon to tie it together (with knot) so it's safe for younger kids too.
Very cute!.......2003-09-17
My four year old absolutely loves this book! She loves to try all the dance steps that Angelina and her friends are doing (and it's neat because it shows you how to do them.) There is also a tear-out section in the back from which my daughter was able to assemble a little book of her own. If you've got an Angelina fan, she'll enjoy this book!
Book Description
This bright and beautiful Angelina Ballerina book and doll set features the full-size hardcover edition of the original Angelina Ballerina picture book, as well as a soft, huggable 9-inch Angelina plush doll. perfect for the angelina-obsessed child.......2006-02-07
My three year old adores this series, and this compilation is a perfect way to satiate her endless appetite for all things Angelina. It's well-presented, contains all of Angelina's greatest hits, and is a great value. For extra fun, read characters' voices in an authentic British accent.

When Angelina finds an injured butterfly in the park, she takes it home to care for it . . . then doesn't want to part with it. It's Henry who sets an adventure in motion that underscores a message all young children can understand.

stick with the dvds.......2007-01-06
sure you may want your child to read but this cheap booklet is not worth it. you assume the animation is actually the books brought to life but it is not. the book is visually uninteresting and not well done.
If you love something let it go !.......2003-03-12
This is a great story that has been adapted from the Television series by Katharine Holabird. The story shows how Angelina the mouse finds a lovely pink butterfly that has hurt it leg. The story show how Angelina wants to keep the butterfly as a pet after its leg it healed, but begins to have second thoughts.
Colorful pictures on every page of this book help keep the readers attention, while the story really shows kids that maybe a trapped animal is really better if it is set free. This book shows a good moral lesson for readers of any age.

Adorable.......2004-01-01
When Angelina Ballerina finds out that her ballet school will be putting on a performance for the Princess of Mouseland, she couldn't be more excited. She stays up all night practicing and practicing, only to wake up feeling sick, and unable to dance. However, she does try, and ends up with only a chorus part in the performance. Disappointed, she vows never to attend ballet school again, until her Mother tells her to be happy with the part that she has. Agreeing, Angelina Ballerina goes back to ballet school only to save the day once again.
ANGELINA AND THE PRINCESS is an adorable addition to the ANGELINA BALLERINA book series. As always, Helen Craig's illustrations are breathtaking, and will capture the heart's of all readers, young and old, as will the wonderful, moral-building story by Katharine Holabird. A must-have for all.

My daughter and I both love this book!.......2002-07-10
"Angelina and the Princess" is the first of the Angelina series my daughter and I have, but we plan to get the rest as we love this so much. Angelina is a tiny white mouse who yearns to be feminine and sweet, but is sometimes headstrong and silly--just like most girls I know (including my five-year old daughter!). Angelina has a dance recital coming up and she is pining away for a major role. However, as she's sick on the day of auditions, she doesn't do well and in fact, barely is able to crawl back home and into her worried mother's arms. She knows she did poorly, and her mother admits as much too, which brings me to one of the things I love about this book--there's no sugar-coating the fact that Angelina has gotten herself into a pickle. It's a storybook, and a fantasy at that, but it's realistic enough to keep the edge off the sweetness.
Angelina is counseled by her mother to do her very best. I don't want to give away the ending, but by keeping a cheerful attitude and trying to do her best for the whole dance company, Angelina is amply rewarded. It's a story with a moral, but the moral isn't presented in a sickeningly sweet way.
The illustrations by Helen Craig are truly a treat. Set vaguely in a Victorian England mousedom, they depict tiny cottages with climbing vines, drapey dresses with floral prints, tiaras, bouquets, adorable furniture, and so on. Three cheers to both Helen Craig and author Katharine Holabird for a book which is a joy to read and great fun to peruse just for the illustrations alone!
A supremely lovable book.......2002-01-02
In this sequel to Angelina Ballerina, Angelina learns that her ballet school is to put on a performance for the Princess of Mouseland. Angelina is crushed, though, when she gets sick in time for the tryouts. Forced to settle for a supporting role, she takes her mother's advice and determines to do her best at the part she is given. This is the story of Angelina's triumph!
Once again the unbeatable duo of Katharine Holabird (author) and Helen Craig (illustrator) combine to create a supremely lovable book. My ten-year-old daughter tore through this book, thoroughly enjoying the story. Yes, it wasn't a challenge to her reading ability, but she loved the story, and I appreciate any book that keeps her reading! Both my daughter and I highly recommend this book.
One of the Favorite Books for Little Girls.......2001-10-18
I bought this book for my nieces (three and four) who started their ballet lessons. I first hesitated because Angelina was a mouse who does not look like Mickey Mouse, instead looks rather like a real mouse, but all the pictures are so wonderfully detailed and cute. Not only my nieces love the story, but they are also interested in other things in the pictures (e.g. posters and toys in Angelina's bedroom etc). They have been reading it over and over, and each time they report me the things they noticed in the pictures. I am not sure if it is recommandable for little boys for the girly storyline, yet I am sure it is a great book for girls, especially who loves ballet.

Great interactive book for kids!.......2007-01-09
If you have a little girl, this is a fantastic interactive book to keep her engaged. Anything to encourage kids to read and increase their love of reading is terrific. My twins turned 5 when I bought this and I would say this book is good for kids age 3 to 7.
Clever Design! Delightful Book!.......2004-05-25
My 4-year-old daughter, who is fascinated with ballerinas, has enjoyed every Angelina book I have read to her. We were excited to find this latest story about her favorite dancing mouse. In the story, Angelina finds a large envelope containing two tickets to see Serena Silvertail perform with the Royal Ballet. But each time she asks a friend to attend with her, they have other plans! This cleverly designed book features page-sized envelopes containing actual tickets, letters, and postcards that children can pull out and read. My daughter's favorite is the large pull-out poster of the Cindermouse ballet. The only problem we have had is that my less-than-gentle 2.5-year-old daughter was also eager to enjoy this book. I've repaired a few envelopes with tape and I have to verify the pull-outs are still inside the flaps before reading the story again. Definitely recommended reading!
Lovely book for a child who loves ballet and Angelina.......2004-01-29
This book is a nice story and the pull-out tickets, letters, poster, etc. added a wonderfully fun dimension to this book. I wouldn't give this book to a child much under 4, however, unless you happen to have one that is really meticulous about keeping things nice. It would be very easy to mess up the book or lose the pull-outs, which are important to the plot.
We bought this as a gift. Can't wait until my little ballerina is old enough to have it.
Book Description
When Angelina Ballerina sees old Mr. Bell all alone at Christmastime, she decides to bring him some holiday cheer. Cousin Henry doesn't want to helpuntil he finds that there's a real Santa Claus living in their town! With festive sparkly foil on the jacket and a heartwarming story, this book is perfect for holiday giving.
Customer Reviews:
'Angelina's Christmas' is a charming addition to the mouseling library, and a wonderful holiday classic for all!.......2006-11-30
Young Angelina Ballerina couldn't be more upset when she spots old Mr. Bell sitting all by his lonesome at Christmastime, looking like a sad puppy. Mr. Bell used to be the jovial postman in town, who brought gifts and cards to everyone during the holidays, and played the town Santa Claus for all of the little mouselings. Angelina, full of Christmas spirit, decides that it is up to her to make Mr. Bell's season bright. So, with the help of her young cousin Henry, as well as her father, Angelina bundles up some cookies and cakes to bring to Mr. Bell. But when they arrive, Henry is too concerned about Christmas Eve, and whether or not he will have the chance to see Santa Claus in the flesh, to notice the joy that twinkles in Mr. Bell's eyes at the prospect of visitors and good, old-fashioned holiday cheer. When Henry learns that Santa Claus comes in the middle of the night, and that he won't get to speak to the illustrious Saint Nick, he bursts out in tears. That is, until he learns that there's a live Santa Claus living amongst them all, right here in town, and that his presence will not only bring a smile to young Henry's face, but fill old Mr. Bell with the joy of the holiday, as well.
ANGELINA BALLERINA can be called nothing less than a children's icon. Her presence in numerous glorious children's books, and now in her own TV show make her more and more well-known, while her lovable, kind heart grows bigger by the day. Katharine Holabird works wonders with a pen, as she tells the tales of the young, ballet-loving mouseling who has big dreams, accompanied by an even bigger heart; while the gorgeous, full-color illustrations by Helen Craig bring each and every Angelina "tail" to life. ANGELINA'S CHRISTMAS is a charming addition to the mouseling library, and a wonderful holiday classic for all!

A good addition to a Christmas story library.......2005-09-17
This beautifully illustrated tale gives the reader a warm feeling when a retired postal worker, who is alone in the world, is visited by Angelina and invited to appear as Father Christmas at the school Christmas show. The community appreciates his contribution and he is invited to the school show every year. This is a wonderful reminder to us all that the elderly should not only be cherished, but that they still have much to offer to the community.
Owning a peice of myself..........2003-01-13
I really loved this book. It was my very first book I got. Of course I got it because my name is Angelina. When I was little I used to think the book was actually about me! I own the first publication of this book and noticed that in the original one I've got it says "Santa Clause" and in the new one that my little cousin has it says "Father Christmas". I don't understand the change. Although I still recommend this book for any little girl who loves to dance, or who's name is Angelina!

Would be perfect if it were perforated..........2006-11-07
The paper dolls and outfits are beautifully detailed, and there are quite a few pieces, but everything has to be cut out with scissors. I had purchased this for a fun, easy to carry airline activity. It would have taken me the whole flight just to cut everything out. I'll save it for my daughter for when she's old enough to do it herself, but it's a shame, because she might not be so interested in Angelina by then.
