After experiencing a paralyzing stroke in 1995 and facing her own mortality, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross (author of the renowned On Death and Dying) realized she had some unfinished business to take care of. "I wanted to write one more book, not on death and dying, but on life and living," she explains. So she joined forces with coauthor David Kessler, a leader in the field of hospice care, and together they wrote about the lessons we can learn about living from those who are dying. As Kessler explains in his introduction, "The dying have always been teachers of great lessons, for it's when we are pushed to the edge of life that we see most clearly."
In days gone by, the community would have gathering places where children and adults listened to elders tell their stories of life's challenges and the meaning they found in life. In lieu of that kind of extended community, the authors offer this book, filled with stories from the edge. Then, like fireside elders, they weave these personal stories into themes, such as living authentically, the importance of play, finding one's power, loving relationships, and self-compassion. One cannot say enough about the lasting value of this beautifully written and carefully rendered book. This is your chance to see life from the 20/20 vision of hindsight. In the end what will we value most? Here are some hints: the days we surrendered and became calm, the times we healed that which was broken, and of course all the moments we opened ourselves to love. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
Is this really how I want to live my life?
Each one of us at some point asks this question. The tragedy is not that life is short but that we often see only in hindsight what really matters.
In this, her first book on life and living, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross joins with David Kessler to guide us through the practical and spiritual lessons we need to learn so that we can live life to its fullest in every moment. Many years of working with the dying have shown the authors that certain lessons come up over and over again. Some of these lessons are enormously difficult to master, but even the attempts to understand them can be deeply rewarding. Here, in fourteen accessible chapters, from the Lesson of Love to the Lesson of Happiness, the authors reveal the truth about our fears, our hopes, our relationships, and, above all, about the grandness of who we really are.

This book will help you get out of the "hallways" of life.......2007-08-10
The quote from the book that stuck with me was from Ronnie Kaye author of Spinning Straw Into Gold. "In life when one door closes another door always opens, but the hallways are a bitch."
I read this book three years ago after my sister passed from cancer and really learned a lot from it. If you have had someone close to you die or know someone that has had the unpleasant experience of having to battle for their life every day, this book may be of some help to you in learning "how" to interact with them. Learning to cope with a disease is never easy for the patient or the family and friends. This book is a good attempt to help each of us do just that.
I recently picked the book up again after experiencing a missed opportunity that cost me five months salary. This book brought closure to the experience. The wisdom from this book has reinforced my decision not to seek a legal remedy through the court system as a solution to my difference of opinion with my former employer. It made me realize that in life, the reality is that some relationships just don't work out. It has saved me time, money and energy that otherwise may have been wasted. After finishing the book a second time, I walk away feeling like I have been given a gift. I have been given a second opportunity to change my life and move on.
Good Book.......2007-06-26
I learned so much from theis book. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler did a fine job.
A good read to refer to now and again for reminding you what's important in life.......2007-05-09
This book has a lot of good advice and insight to it. There are some referecences here and there to god and whatnot, and I'm not a religious person at all, but this book is not what some people may think because the ideas still apply regardless of your POV of spirituality; it's about lessons in life and isn't telling people to follow this or that or morals of any certain religion (the authors don't try to press that onto the reader). So, if you are anti-religious...and you start reading, notice such mentionings, plus you're turned off by such things, I advise you still don't pass over this book (it's not as if every-other word is "god" or something like that anyway). I would recommend this read to anyone. I really enjoyed it and it helped to remind me what parts in life are trivial compared to what's really important.

Worth the read.......2007-03-29
This book will open your eyes, your mind and your heart.
It will provide you with the truth and do so lovingly.
It is well worth the read and it's benefits are lasting ones.
I highly recommend Elisabeth Kubler-Ross to any and everyone.
I found her after I had lost my sister unexpectedly and all
of her books helped me to heal and to open myself in ways that
continue today. You will be blessed, so read her books.
Book Description
Don’t look up
It won’t help. You can’t get out of the way, you can’t dig a hole deep enough to hide. The end is coming, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
So why read this book?
Because you can’t look away when not just the religious fanatics are saying we’re all going to be destroyed but the scientists are in on the act too. Here’s what they’re saying:
• We’re a million years over due for a mass extinction.
• The sun at radiation minimum is acting much worse than at solar maximum, and one misdirected spewing of plasma could fry us in an instant.
• The magnetic field—which shields us from harmful radiation—is developing a mysterious crack.
• Our solar system is entering an energetically hostile part of the galaxy.
• The Yellowstone supervolcano is getting ready to blow, and if it does, we can look forward to nuclear winter and 90 percent annihilation.
• The Maya, the world’s greatest timekeepers ever, say it’s all going to stop on December 21, 2012.
So, see? There’s nothing you can do, but you might as well sit back and enjoy the show.
That’s why you should read this book.
*****
Dear Reader,
If there were a chance that opening this book could set off a chain of events that would lead to Apocalypse, to the end of Life as we know it, would you be tempted? Finger poised uncertainly above the flashing red button? How about if the Apocalypse promised to result in a new age of enlightenment, a Heaven on Earth like never before?
Personally, I’ll take the security of my cozy life over a chance at nirvana. But status quo may no longer be an option, for any of us. This book will convince you that there is a nonnegligible chance that the year 2012 will be more tumultuous, catastrophic, and, quite possibly, revelatory, than any other year in human history.
Parts of this book are best read with a bowl of popcorn: looking into the jaws of a great white shark in search of the meaning of death; touring a picturesque Guatemalan town with Mayan shaman just weeks before it is utterly destroyed. Other sections go better with a tranquilizer, such as the impending eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano, or the mass extinction headed our way—on the scale of the great collision that destroyed the dinosaurs and 70 percent of all other species, our best scientists contend that it’s now overdue. Nail-biters should beware the fact that the next peak in the sunspot cycle, due in 2012, is widely expected to set records for the number and intensity of solar storms pummeling the Earth with radiation and igniting natural calamities such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and Katrina-sized hurricanes. And that our entire solar system appears to be moving into a dangerous interstellar energy cloud.
Is it a coincidence that the burgeoning war between Christianity and Islam seems hell-bent for Armageddon? Or that numerous other religions, philosophies, and cultural traditions are signaling that the end is near, with 2012 emerging as the consensus target date? A new era is about to be born, with all the pain and blood and joy and release that birth naturally entails.
Facing oblivion, or at least mega-metamorphosis, is something that few of us are emotionally prepared to do. Thus my excuse for the gallows humor that pervades this story. In a memorable Mary Tyler Moore episode, Mary cracks up laughing at the funeral of Chuckles the Clown who, dressed as a peanut while marching in a parade, was shucked to death by an elephant. If Mary can giggle in the face of death, so can we.
With kind regards,
Lawrence E. Joseph

Waiting to Exhale.......2007-09-27
Something in the world has changed. We all know it. We all feel as though we are holding our breath. I have observed birds feeding in places where they've rarely been seen before. I have observed butterflies this year become increasingly aggressive. Bees in California are disappearing. Weather patterns are shifting. Governments seem to be spiraling downward in an attempt to control, control, control. So what's going on?
Lawrence E. Joseph takes us with him on his journey to discover the source of our unease. We travel with him through all the possible scenarios beginning with the Mayan prediction of world disaster in 2012. He doesn't go looking for the boogey-man in the closet. He looks to the scientific world for answers. The answers that he finds are not encouraging. Sunspots are active. Never mind the Celebrity Disaster of the Year--global warming, the entire universe may be heating up. Then there is my personal favorite, the reversal of the poles.
Joseph does not overlook mankind's potential contribution to the disaster scenario either. He zeros in on the heart of prophecy, mysticism and madness. He looks at religion.
It is the Jewish prophecy that brings with it the greatest potential for self-fulfillment and the greatest potential for the destruction of mankind. The U.S. government seems to be a willing accomplice in bringing Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri's vision into focus. The bombing of Afganistan began after sundown on October 13, 2001.
"The Gog and Magog conflict is prophesied to last for seven years at which time, autumn 2008, a major revelation concerning Mashiach (Messiah) will be made." (See page 195)
Apocalypse 2012 is a measured, sometimes amusing, well-written adventure into the world of potential disasters. The author does wobble a bit at the end. He apparently felt compelled to offer some type of direction or comfort to his readers. There is none. More to the point, once you accept that a disaster will occur without knowing its source, you can't do anything more than live your life for the moment, the best way you know how.
Lawrence E. Joseph can be forgiven for wobbling. After all, the entire earth wobbles in its rotation. The last wobble resulted in a disruption of energy streaming from the Milky Way, 26,000 years ago. The next disruption is expected to occur on 12/21/2012 at 11:11 pm Universal Time. (See page 33)
If this is science I am Superman.......2007-09-25
This book is a tour through some of the cutting edge research in; volcanology, geology, astronomy as viewed by some controversial figures in those fields. Mostly a non-scientific look into the fringe elements surrounding 2012, the end of the Mayan Long Count. The book dissapoints on two counts; it promises to add some insight into the 2012 popular discourse, and it claims to be a scientific investigation. Unfortunately it does neither, as it adds nothing new to the understanding of 2012, the Maya or the Mayan Calendar, and it fails miserably to explain any valid scientific research. But It does expound profusely on controversial research without ever presenting it in a scientific manner. In the growing universe of popular culture 2012 literature, this book sits at the bottom of the pile.
Not Proof, But Good Science.......2007-09-17
This book is not centered on Mayan calendar analysis, but rather on science. And it doesn't prove any date or time but does point in a very substantial way the ideas of a possible catastrophe. It relates to the recent (within 10 years, especially in 2003) solar flares on the Sun and subsequent earth storms and how they very much interact with each other. The Sun storms recorded are the most active in recent times possible the affects of hurricane Katrina and other Earth storms. Also, what is important is the gravitational pull, as well as the magnetic pull of the planets in our solar system, the sun affected much easier, as it being a gelatin like substance, not solid.
In addition, the entire solar system, according to Lawrence, is moving and about to enter an interstellar energy cloud which will have a major affect on magnetic pulls, a possible pole reversal, which could result in major electrical storms and other serious consequences. This will also affect the sun and solar system. Right now they are saying that there are serious cracks in the magnetic fields and there is more to this, as well as holes in the ozone which may be the result or something more than aerosol.
There are also other things to consider, such as the Wyoming supervolcano which, if erupted, is predicted to bring a major death toll over the earth as well ash to bring on a short term (10 years) ice age, which is one way the planet earth (Gaia- the theory of the earth being a living organism, as opposed to simply rock and elements - James Lovelock) can cool itself. This also relates to the earth's nuclear core being hot, in need of cooling when it gets overheated.
There is also the idea of the glaciers melting bringing less pressure on the Teutonic plates underneath, allowing more seismic activity and earthquakes. Not sure what to make of all this, except that the solar activity, the level of volcanic activity, the melting of glaciers, the interstellar cloud, as well as other theories of the overheated earth core and the ice melting fresh water in the salt oceans, possibly shutting down the conveyor belts all come into play. Now along with this, the Mayan calendar, and global warming in general, which Al Gore states will flood the oceans 24 feet, killing untold millions in land loss, agricultural disasters and famines, which then brings on major disease in poorer countries. It leaves us a lot to think about. I will say that if this interstellar cloud has the significance they are speaking about, then the magnetic reversals have the possibility of ending life as we know it.
I'd like to believe the optimistic escapee, the doomsday, wanna be believer and magick seeking individual, hopes that there is a noosphere (the idea of a psychic collective layer part of the organism earth) and looks towards the Mayans belief, that a consciousness transformation will take place, as our bodies and brains are made up of water and electricity. Who knows? It's a mystery, but there is global warming and definite climate changes ahead.
A Logical Inquiry Into An Otherwise Hysterical Topic.......2007-09-10
This informative book is geared towards adults with an analytical bent, who wish to enter into an objective inquiry into the various predictions and talk of future catastrophe associated with the year 2012. The author succeeds in exploring these matters from an objective, non-judgmental point of view. His artful use of humor throughout the book serves to lighten the mood of an otherwise morbid and bleak subject.
The discussion draws from diverse sources of knowledge including several branches of the physical sciences, metaphysics, and a wide variety of religious points of view, in order to offer a well-rounded survey of the subject at hand. The book includes an extensive bibliography showing the vast wealth of information the author consulted. Indeed, it would seem that he left no stone unturned. The author successfully guides the reader through a systematic and logical thinking process about such matters, thereby dispelling the hype and hysteria, which so commonly follow topics of this type.
Overall, I found this book to be a well-balanced and logical overview of the issues now facing humanity regarding what the near future may have in store for us. We tend to think that the world will go on just as it always has, and so the exploration of these topics makes us stop and consider that we may not be as invulnerable as we think we are. We all take events like the Sun rising and setting on schedule, the regular turning of the seasons, and the rising and falling of the tides, for granted. This book refocuses the lens, so to speak, to show that in the whole of the Earth's history, things have not always been stable and constant; but that the Earth has, in fact, gone through many great cataclysms throughout its history. What would make us immune to experiencing one such event, or events, of great upheaval and change?
If for nothing else, exploring these ideas is a great opportunity to do a personal survey of why we are here, living on this little planet, within the vast universe; and what our personal purpose for living might be. It is also an opportunity to pause and realize just how fragile life is, and really take to heart the need to make the most of what we have, and to protect the resources that God, through nature, graciously provide for us.
Projection and Make-belief.......2007-09-06
Remember Y2K? So much nonsense perpetuated by paranoid folks trying to impose their ungrounded fears onto others. We create our future. 2012 may be a self-fulfilling prophecy. In this new millennium it may be wise to step beyond superstition and stop being victims. Gaia is overpopulated and raped of its resources. What really needs to happen is collaboration and cooperation beyond the holy dollar - businesses changing their profit models away from growth only. And people honoring the planet beyond a blind consumerist and throw away culture. Rome's teachings waiting to be implemented globally...
Book Description
Is it possible to develop an all-inclusive embrace of God, one that can satisfy scientists, philosophers, and priests at the same time? It is, teaches best-selling author Ken Wilber, if you are able to understand The 1-2-3 of God. According to this premier modern philosopher, the seemingly innumerable ways humans conceptualize God can actually be broken down into three basic perspectives. Now, Ken Wilber invites listeners to learn more about: The "I, We, and It" views of God: how different religions and spiritual paths tend to focus on only one of these three fundamental ways of relating to the divine Using an integrated 1-2-3 approach to God to open communication between people of different faiths and beliefs Guided sessions by Ken Wilber for deeply experiencing each of the three aspects of Godmystical, devotional, and objective Through his best-selling books and his work as founder and president of the Integral Institute, Ken Wilber has become one of the world's most recognized and respected pioneers of modern spirituality. With The 1-2-3 of God, he now brings his unique gift for lucid insight to the most essential question asked by spiritual seekers throughout history: what is the true nature of God?

Ken Wilber on God.......2007-09-02
In the One Two Three Of God Ken has, for me, expanded and clarified much of his work. The fourth CD is a guided journey by Diane Hamilton, through the One Two Three of God. It was for me a wonderful finale to the CD set. Diane Hamilton's presentation was clear and a sheer delight.I anticipate returning again and again to listen to these CDs.
The ABC of God, spirituality, religion from history-now-future.......2007-07-22
Incredible, this is the first time I've come across this much gathered knowledge of all those different approaches, believes, understandings, experiences, images, actions, and the current state of the world as a result of all that. And all that information is not even 'just' put alltogehter, through the integral framework Wilber uses, this 4CD kit offers a profound insight in how those different approaches all fit together and what that tells about religion in the future.
A must-hear for everybody in the field of the 'state of the world' and 'roads to the future'.
best way to see the spiritual side of life without abandoning rationality.......2007-05-25
Terrific CD that summarizes Ken Wilber's most recent views of spirituality, which are detailed in "Integral Spirituality." He is one of the most thoughtful people I have read, and provides the best way I have read to see the spiritual side of life without abandoning rationality. This should be most useful to enrich the lives of many people in the modern world. The CD has enough humor to help maintain interest of any listener, and the meditation on CD 4 is quite good. I gave the CD to our minister, and think it is most important for churchgoers to consider the issues here. Their lives will also be much richer for having listened to this CD and considered the issues it raises.
A Companion to Integral Spirituality.......2007-05-15
The One Two Three of God uses the interview format introduced in Kosmic Consciousness to provide an overview of some of the concepts more fully developed in Ken Wilber's Integral Spirituality. The interview is much like those in Kosmic Consciousness, enjoyable to listen to and effectively touching on the integral perspective in relation to God, Spirituality and Religion. As a fan of many of Ken Wilber's writings and of his integral perspective, I found the content to be somewhat basic but generally clearly defined within the conversation dialogue. However, for someone unfamiliar with the basic AQAL framework and the states, stages, levels and lines developmental map, the discussion will most likely be a bit harder to follow. As a companion to Integral Spirituality, this interview session offers an overview of several key points presented in that work. It additionally provides a guided meditation as an experiential introduction toward integrating the 1st, 2cnd and 3rd person understandings of God into a more inclusive spiritual perspective.
Wilber fan, but I had a mixed reaction...........2007-04-28
In actuality, I rated this CD a 3.5. I am big fan of Ken Wilber, but I think he could have done better here. Although this is newer material, it doesn't measure up to the standard Ken set in Kosmic Consciousness for quality. There is a lot of repitition on this CD and for people already familiar with Ken's work it could be annoying. I also don't feel that Integral Spirituality that was released was also up to par for such an established author. I would really like to see more copy editing going forward, because overall I feel Wilber is a genious and one of the most important, if not the most important philosopher of our time.
With respect to content, this CD deals largely with the multiple perspectives one can take on reality i.e. first person, second person and third person. These perspectives correspond to subjectivity, intersubjectivity and an objectivity, respectively. Each of these areas also correspond to a certain orientation toward the divine, for example jnana yoga or path of direct knowledge (first person), bakhti yoga or path of devotion (intersubjectivity) and karma yoga or path of activity in the world (objective). The audio also covers various levels of these three primary dimensions and maps the same essential ideas to various traditons.
There is also a lot of material on this CD about the different spiritual levels and their correlates in culture (this corresponds to the interior of a collective). In other words, Wilber talks about what an orientation to God looks like from an archaic, magical, mythical, rational, post-modern, subtle, causal and non-dual perspective. He uses examples to illustrate how religion shows up in various cultures at some of these stages. The stages beyond rational are more rare and not experienced in the culture, but rather expressed in individual practices.
Again, for many Wilber fans this will be a repitition of familiar material. If you are new to Ken Wilber, Kosmic Consciousness or A Brief History of Everything would certainly be much better introductions to Ken's work.
If you have only read Ken Wilber, you will find another side of him revealed in the interviews. I think it is important to have a sense of his personality and although this comes across better in Kosmic Consciousness, I think you can get that here too.
Overall, Ken has looked across cultures, worldviews, spiritual experience, science, sociology and many other fields to come up with an inclusive model that embraces more of reality. He conceptualizes this by applying a four quadrant model which corresponds to the various perspectives I mentioned above. The fourth quadrant comes from the original model and the three perspectives above result from a simplification of the model to describing both individual (empirical) objective and collective (systems) objective views to a single it/its zone lumped under what he calls the third person view.
There are also various levels within each quadrant where every successive level both transcends and includes the earlier levels. At each level, there are new phenomenon that crop up with emergent properties that can't be explained as the mere sum of parts. An example of this on the physical level would be the heirarchy (holarchy the term Wilber uses) e.g. atoms, molecules, macromolecules (such as proteins, DNA, etc.), cells, tissues, organs, organ systems and multi-cell organisms. In this example, life would be an emergent property that appears with cells.
One of Ken's arguments is that each of the quadrants is irreducible to the others and that each dimension has certain truth criteria associated with it that is appropriate to its domain. In Wilber's opinion, this avoids a situation where we ignore the validity of subjective experience or other important dimensions of reality that can't be measured through the scientific method. For example, he might argue that love exists and consciousness exists, but we can't look at either one through a microscope. There needs to be other ways to validate truth for each quadrant.
From a larger perspective, this worldview offers a post-metaphysical view of reality that validates the legitimacy of the arts (first person), morals (second person) and sciences (third person). This notion is also related to the notions of the Beautiful (first person), Good (second person) and True (third person).
The most valuable thing about this recording from my perspective is the exercises on the last CD. They help you to integrate the concepts on the CD with your own experience. They also give you a feel for how you can make practical use of the model to stretch your boundaries and as a tool for trying on various perspectives, points of view and orientations toward Spirit and the world.
My review does not do justice to Ken's model or the power of his ideas. In a limited space, this is very difficult to convey. However, I have read almost everything Ken has written and I believe he will go down in history as an extremely important thinker. My understanding is that he has 20+ books in print continously since they have been published and he is the only (or one of the only) living authors to have a major publisher put together his collected works during his lifetime.
Admittedly, it is difficult to wrap your arms around Ken's entire thought. It requires a lot of background information on a variety of topics and an understanding of his history including the evolution of his thought which has changed numerous times over 20 years. If you are serious about Wilber, then I would certainly purchase Ken Wilber: Thought As Passion (Suny Series in Transpersonal and Humanistic Pyschology) and use it for context and a general roadmap. If you get this along with Kosmic Consciousness or A Brief History of Everything, you will have a very good foundation and get his most important ideas in a relatively painless way. If you try to tackle something like Integral Psychology : Consciousness, Spirit, Psychology, Therapy right off the bat, you may get discouraged. Some of Ken's works are more accessible than others.
In general, it is good to see Ken giving interviews and it is likely I will buy anything he puts out. However, I would like to hold him to a higher standard in terms of presentation, avoiding unnecessary repitition, etc. The man is a genius, but he is sometimes all over the map.
Finally, I would like to leave you with an intriguing Ken Wilber idea about holism. Ken argues that combining the understanding of quantum physics, ecology and systems theory into a worldview is a gross reduction of reality to the deepest levels of the physical universe. I happen to agree with Ken on this, but it is a very controversial idea. The implication is that we can't even understand the deepest level of physical reality without it breaking down and its complexity leads us to mistake this for all of reality. If this is true, how much more complex might reality be, if there are other ontological levels that are even more complex as described by the Perrenial Philosophy that seems to form the core of every major religion i.e. the levels of the body, emotions, mind, soul and spirit. A lot of Ken's model is based on taking this view very seriously. You can get some good background information on this notion from Forgotten Truth: The Common Vision of the World's Religions. While Wilber differs from Huston Smith in many ways, it is very interesting to see where they are similar and where they differ. This is particularly interesting with respect to Ken Wilber's Integral Methodological Pluralism which comes out of his latest thought and which underlies the contents of this CD at a deeper level. Also, Huston Smith is very eloquent with his methaphors and descriptions, which will also help you to digest Wilber.
This CD is definitely worth buying. However, I don't feel it's the best place to start or the best example of Ken's work. It's a BIG BOOK, but Sex, Ecology, Spirituality: The Spirit of Evolution, Second Edition is a great more or less comprehensive look at the scope of Wilber's thought in one volume. It's a monster, however, at 800+ pages!
Book Description
Though the practice of astrology is many centuries old, it is only perhaps once in a generation that a thoroughly new, totally original way of looking at the zodiac is discovered. The New Astrology is such a system.
For those convinced that there is nothing new under the sun--or the stars--Suzanne White offers a startling and provocative thesis: There are not 12 but 144 signs of the zodiac, each distinct, each unique, each vital to everyone's quest for self-understanding.
By combining the astrological systems of the traditional Chinese (terrestrial) with that of the Occident (celestial), Suzanne White demonstrates that each of us is governed by two signs. Hence, a Capricorn Tiger is likely to be quite different from a Capricorn Cat, as is a Leo Dog from a Leo Dragon, and so on. This unique blend of Western and Chinese Astrology gives detailed analyses of each of the 144 signs, including individualized sections of love, sex and romance, business, money, careers, home life and compatibility (or lack of it) with other signs.
Already a best-seller in France, The New Astrology is a massive undertaking and the result of more than a decade of research and study of the two systems. It offers insights into not only our own lives, but also those of all who are close to us. Suzanne White's prose is lucid, candid, and suffused with a sense of fun, but The New Astrology is above all a serious tool for self-awareness and understand the rich variety of human nature all around us.

very informative .......2007-08-23
Well worth the money. Very informative. It puts a whole new side to astrology.
Interesting and Amusing Read.......2007-08-06
I had a copy of this book several years ago, loaned it out and never got it back, so when I found it on Amazon I reordered it. Very pleased with Amazon as always. In a nutshell, it combines eastern astrology's signs based on what year you were born and western signs which rely on the month. The book itself is well organized, easy to navigate, informative, and entertaining. About the only drawback was that it lacks the indepth compatibility comparisons common to most of these types of books. You won't find much information regarding yourself the Taurus/Goat getting along with your spouse the Leo/Monkey unless the author thought it was a particularly good or poor match. Still, overall it is well worth getting.
interesting idea but yin/yang info is entirely incorrect!.......2007-05-17
I thought I just had a bad copy of the book or something when I was reading her definitions of yin and yang, and I've also never seen the Dog classified as yin. In ALL other material I have seen or read about yin/yang (which is considerable since I studied Taoism for years) yin is known to be feminine, dark, moist, contractive, connected to the moon. Yang is known to be masculine, bright, dry, expansive, connected to the sun. And as another reviewer farther down the line noted, her associations between the Chinese zodiac sign and its yin/yang quality are not at all in line with the ancient traditionally taught paradigm. I'm not sure where that comes from or where she learned it the way she did, but I stick with the ancient texts and original source books.
It's an ambitious undertaking, certainly, and I love the idea of blending the two forms of astrology but the actual book left me a bit cold. It's juicy reading for a few moments, but I didn't learn anything. If you're new to astrology this could be fun, but if you study the subject (Chinese or Western) this won't do much for you. And I can't stress enough the importance of the yin/yang symbolism and qualities. You can't separate that from Chinese astrology and with her system being totally different from the way it's been taught for ages I can't put any faith into it.
Cute and fluffy fun, but steer clear if you are looking for accurate information. I've owned this book for over 10 years and while I'm an enthusiastic student of astrology, I never use this as a tool.
Not the best..........2007-03-01
This book is alright... Suzanne White didn't really do so much of a good job writing this book. Alright, maybe some of it has validity but I think many books do not dig too deep when comes to the realm of Chinese astrology. I don't know why... Maybe it's the fact that many aren't really well-versed in it, I don't know... I do know however that it's what its worth.
Astrology: Evolved.......2007-02-27
Being new to astrology, I have found this book to be a very useful introduction. As an aspiring writer, the character descriptions give me a useful template for characters in my stories. Thanks Suzanne!

Fantastic book.......2007-09-05
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in contacting their angels or archetypes. It has been extremely helpful for me.
A TRUE angel book of Substance.......2007-05-15
This is one of the first, and still among the best, of the angel books I've read over the past 3 decades. John Randolph Price has a true grasp on spirituality, and has a way of presenting a subject once ridiculed as "new-aged mumbo-jumbo" with authority, finesse, believability, and an honest understanding. This is a great book for anyone that believes in the presence of angels. I give it a 7+! As propritor of an angel store, and author of Blessings in the Mire I have had access to any title of so called new aged literature for many years, have read more books than I can ever count on the subject of angels. Truly, John Randolph Price is one of the best voices of the many singing praises to the angels.
Angels Within Us.......2006-08-06
Angels Within Us is a profound book to develop englightenment for every reader. I use it to develop Angel NUMEROLOGY for what your soul wanted to learn on this trip to Earth. John Randolph Price provides strategies for your SOUL to evolve and to achieve its Divine purpose in this lifetime. A must read for everyone on their Spiritual Path.
Saved my life.......2004-02-26
I was going through, what at the time was the toughest episode of my life. I was at a book store waiting on a friend. I was walking up and down the isles full of anxiety and stress, when this book caught my eye. Without thinking, I picked it up and started reading, I haven't put the book down sense. It is worn and old now. It has changed my way of thinking like I have never thought possible and opened up my life to a new more joyful experience. Thank you Mr. Randolph Price. The Angels in your book saved me from making a left turn instead of a right one at a very critical point in my life. At the time I had no job, two small children and was afraid I was about to lose everything and was drowning into a depression. I am now aware of the angels company and their service. I now have a wonderful career and new tools for dealing with new challenges., I make great money and bought a new beautiful home for my beautiful children. I always credit this book for saving me. For being the tool that God used when I wasn't able to listen to her any other way.
This is a powerful book.. . ........2003-07-17
It isn't often that I am so strongly "led" to a book, but I kid you not - I felt 'wings' fluttering, couldn't get the title image out of my mind, and saw a colorful light emerging from this book when I opened the cover almost seven years ago. I still actively work with this book today. This is a powerful teaching book based on esoteric traditions throughout the ages. Each angel is introduced as a timeless vortex of energy with corresponding archetypes from the tarot and ancient mythology, and the author guides you through the process of meeting each angel with a meditation. Manly P. Hall is qoted, as is the Bible, which would normally turn me off. However the amazing energy shifts that can occur by using the meditations in this book speak for themselves. Any description of this book really can't do the experiential results justice. If you feel drawn to this title, go for it. The vibrations are very esoteric and can feel alien to your everyday mind, but just EASE into it, and you will learn exciting techniques for altering your consciousness (for the better) and working with powerful angelic energies. And oh yeah, it added an amazing new dimension to my tarot readings, too.
Book Description
From the unfaithful husband to the binge eater, from the secret cross-dresser to the pilferer of worthless items, there are those who seem to live two lives, to be divided selves, to be literally of two minds. This division or "vertical split" appears in a person at odds with himself, a person who puzzles over, and even heartily dislikes, that parallel person who behaves in so repugnant a manner. In Being of Two Minds, Arnold Goldberg provides trenchant insight into such divided minds - their origins, their appearances, and their treatment.
Goldberg's inquiry into divided minds leads to a return to the psychoanalytic concept of disavowal, which forms the basis of the vertical split. Goldberg explores the developmental circumstances that tend to a reliance on disavowal, provides numerous examples of the emergence of disavowal in the treatment situation, and considers the therapeutic approaches through which disavowal may be addressed. He is especially perceptive in discussing the manner in whichthe therapist's own tendency to disavow may collusively interact with that of the patient.
Goldberg considers the full range of splits to which disavowal gives rise, from circumscribed instances of dissociation to the much-debated multiple personality disorders. He gives special attention to the role of the vertical split in patients with behavior disorders; here his thoughtful insights point to a treatment approach that significantly differs both from the simple ascription of a 'self disorder' and from the usual pedagogical emphasis on issues of self-control and/or punishment. As Goldberg shows, the repugnance felt by many therapists for offensive behaviors emanating from the patient's parallel self are frequently shared by the patient, who commonly despises misbehavior that he is unable to understand. Being of Two Minds begins to formulate just such understanding, to the great benefit of patient and therapist alike.

Don't full me..........2007-06-13
I read it more one time and I feel that it's incomplete to learn the swing. Perhaps it's a book to read with a professional.
Simply the Best.......2004-12-29
I'm a single digit handicap golfer who loves to study the golf swing. Of all of the books out there, this one is simply the best. Learning to "feel" your way to a proficient golf swing is right on the mark because if you can feel your swing, you can trust it and play with confidence. The whole body is involved with swinging the golf club, but the hands, arms and feet are the gateway for moving beyond analysis and finally feeling your own swing. Toski and Love communicate the fundamentals in such a straight-forward, easy to understand format that you may just sell or junk all of your other golf books.

Disappointing.......2003-09-08
I did not like this book. It does not explain the golf swing sufficiently for the user to perform the swing correctly. There are certain aspects that I believe leave the reader unclear. For example, the book says that you need to imagine the inside path to the ball in the downswing as a slide going down to the ball. It does not say how the reader should actually perform this move.
I found there is very little in this book that I found to help my game. There are defiantly many fundamentals of the golf swing that this book doesn't even start to discuss. I also don't like the way that the book recommends that you learn how the hands/arms use before learning how the entire body should be used. The book even says that you can swing well without even reading the body/hips section. IMO this will turn the reader into a very "handsy" type of player. It is my belief that the swing is a blend of the entire body and advocating that it is possible to learn how the hands move without even addressing the hips and body is wrong.
There are better books around such as the LAWS of Golf, and Four Magic Moves to Winning Golf.
Great Golf Instructional Book!.......2003-02-06
A great golf instructional book! I think it would be especially helpful to the beginner. The book was written in a very logical sequence and in the order of importance to help reader understand the entire golf swing. Drills in each chapter were simple to perform and effective.
Great - finally puts the body parts in the proper order.......2002-06-06
After many lessons and lots of soul searching and bad adjustments made to my swing, this book really sets out the priorities of what makes a good swing. I supposedly swing outside in and have a slice. I have tried to use my legs, swing inside out with the clock method, swing slower, have a stronger grip, etc., etc. In frustration I locked my wrists and could manage a 23 handicap with mainly shoulder action. Finally this book tells how the hands lead, then the arms and the shoulders only follow. I also concentrated on a good follow through, but now know that it will be better when every thing else gets in the right order. Now that I have concentrated just on the hands for a while without any other movement, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hitting is a lot easier on the body and when I do get things right it goes pretty far! Hooray.

For those on an enlightened path here are the missing pieces you mind longs to have.......2007-09-02
Wow, is all I can say. If you love The Course in Miracles, Conversations with God, Disappearance of the Universe, The Power of Now or the Way of Mastery, The Convoluted Universe Vol 1 and 2 are mind blowing. More wonderful truths of the Universe.......2007-04-17
This follow up to part one takes you to even more fascinating places and times. It has the potential to leave you majorly awe inspired. What a mind blowing God we have!
Holey Underwear Batman!.......2006-08-25
You're reality as you know it is about to EXPAND! After many years of study I thought I knew a lot. After reading Dolores' books I realize I am just getting started. I hope you have as much fun as I'm having. Good Luck and Good Reading.
Another worthy addition.......2005-11-05
Well if you want your mind expanded, then Dolores Cannon is the place to go. There's nothing else quite like her books. We all think there are no answers to this world, that either it's all meaningless or else we're unworthy to know the truth or we'll have to wait another 200 years for science to figure things out. Well that's just wrong. Answers DO exist... provided you're willing to have an open mind about their source. An awful lot of questions people have had for thousands of years about life, the universe, and everything are answered in this book along with the prior one (PT. 1). I don't expect the mainstream to catch on right away, but for those willing to go off the beaten path, literally everything you've ever wondered about in our world is dealt with in these books. Few volumes can change a person's life, but Dolores Cannon's do just that. I was excited to read in this one where she mentioned material she was saving for PT. 3, so the good news is we've got another one to look forward to. Trust me, you can't go wrong on this purchase.

Because Pala and Al's emphasis is on Tantra in relationships, both beginners and skilled Tantric practitioners will find value here. Pala and Al offer their relationship as a model for a successful, long-term relationship in which to be happy, fulfilled, and spiritually awakened. Soul Sex includes thought-provoking discussions, personal anecdotes, and precise but simple techniques to inspire you to apply to your daily life. The observations and exercises included are drawn from the authors' own heady partnership and from the hundreds of couples they have had the privilege to teach at their Tantra sacred sex workshops. SUBJECT: Sexuality/New Age

soul sex.......2007-07-22
An outstanding, well written book that points out the obvious and the not so obvious points to make your sex life better than you could ever emagine. a must read for couples starting a relationship or looking for the extra spark to make a good relationship great.
An o.k. book.......2006-12-29
This book has some useful information but I found the photos to be very offputting. They look dated and I thought this book must have been a book from the 70's so I was surprised to discover that it is in fact published in 2003. It would have been so much better to have tasteful illustrations rather than photos, although the photos are not at all graphic, they are very "homemade" looking rather than professional.
This book contains the following sections:
Analysing your relation and attitudes to sex - I found this to be irrelevant as my relationship is very good and I was looking for a way to spice up my lovelife, not address any sexual hangups. It may however be very useful for those that do have sexual issues.
Erogenous zones, energy, the chakras, orgasm etc - This is the best section in the book. It has very thorough information and presented in a fashion that is easy to understand. This section makes the book worth it's purchase price and the reason for the three star rating.
Ideas on how to create space and good lovemaking environments and sex play etc. - This has nothing very original in it, just basic stuff.
Short section on sexual positions - This is the section with the photographs so I was quite off and could not bring myself to even go through this with my husband as the photos are not in the slightest bit arousing, nor do they stimmulate a desire to try to emulate the people in the positions. I don't think these people are good representations of real people, one of the male models had a mowhawk and others were people that most people would have no wish to see naked engaged in a sexual act; a total turn off!
All in all, this book would be good for people that have sexual issues that need addressing, but for those with reasonably good sex lives looking for added spice - this is definately not the book to get as it actually has the opposite effect...
An excellent buy----worth every penny !!!!!!!!!.......2006-11-04
This book is so full of excellent information! Its definitly one you want to have on your book shelf. It covers so much------excercises to build your pc muscles , how to manage your sexual energy, the spiritual side of the sexual union, and so much more. Well written, and very interesting, I found this book a real joy to read. So many books about tantra are vague, esoteric and sort of mystical---really hard to follow. I found "Soul Sex" to be very written in such a manner that is very easy to follow and understand, often times giving detailed step by step instructions. I highly recommend this book ---its opened my eyes to a whole new world!!!!
Best resource on the topic.......2006-03-05
Other books on tantra left us a little disappointed. Not so with this one. Beautifully presented in a way that's easily understood and appreciated, this book provides tools and insights that we really hoped to get. The authors have created such a valuable resource here -- bravo!
Sex with soul and sizzle!.......2005-11-10
We stumbled across "Soul Sex: Tantra for Two" when scanning through various sex manuals trying to learn more about sacred sex and tantra. Most books on tantra appeared to be cheap raunchy treatises on kama sutra sexual positions, or alternatively overbearing theses on mantras, meditation and complex Eastern Philosophy. But there in the stacks along with the sleaze and the sermons was a delightful alternative that beautifully wove together the concepts of sexuality, love, soulful living and spirituality. Although tantric sex is a hot theme throughout the manuscript, its focus is more on relationships, personality development and unconditional love. The key lessons this book stresses are about learning to trust, surrender and open one's heart to one's partner, and that these are the ways to spiritual lovemaking and transcendence. According to the authors, there is no goal in tantric lovemaking, rather only purpose, and that purpose is union, and through union each can achieve transcendence. Another key point is to realize that fantastic sex does not come from a great sex partner, but your own ability to let yourself go, and to focus your attention on the moment. True passion comes from a keen capacity to both give and receive love fully. There are also various creative practical exercises, within the book, aimed at reducing sexual inhibitions and negative sex attitudes, enhancing expressions of affection, solving relationship difficulties, reflecting on one's life goals, improving communication during lovemaking, ejaculation mastery for men and orgasm enrichment for women, promoting sexual playfulness, generating heightened sexual energy both individually and jointly, and learning to move that energy throughout one's body using relaxation, breathing, concentration, mantras and rituals. Perhaps one of the most genuine and refreshing aspects of this book is the gentle and seductive way that the authors, Pala Copeland and Al Link, have provided insights about tantric lovemaking by revealing various critical steps or missteps in their own ongoing tantric journey. The authors set by example the means to achieve sexual openness by opening their hearts to all who truly read this book. By so intimately sharing their knowledge and experience, Pala and Al show that they not only have achieved transcendence in their own sacred sexual practice, but allow this wisdom to transcend to their readers/students. We would recommend this book to any couple who want to grow together in their relationship and add more intimacy and passion to their sex life. The information in this book is priceless!
