Very Soothing Voice and Music.......2007-06-11
I would have to disagree with Karen K who said the voice and music were irratating. I found the narrators' voice to be extremely soothing and the music to be beneficial and relaxing. In fact, for all the hypnosis tapes I've ever used, this is by far the most relaxing. I'm able to go into an extremely deep trance and always come out with the suggestion at the end (that's how I know I didn't just fall asleep). I only gave it 4 stars so far, but will update it in a couple of weeks when I see how well it works. I've been using it twice a day for two days, today is the third, and haven't seen any changes in my appetite or eating yet. It says to use it for 21 days. I don't know if that means you'll only see significant results after 21 days, or what, but I'll keep this review updated to let you know if I've lost any weight. If not, then at least I have had some incredibly relaxing sessions while I'm listening to the tape.
Day Five: I found when I went to the market I chose only healthy foods and stayed away from the junk food without even thinking about it. I checked the fat content on all food even if it said "light" or "low fat." When I saw chocolate and thought I'd like some it was immediately followed up with the thought that I didn't want to buy it. The hardest part is getting out of the store without the junk in the cart. At home, I've noticed I have not wanted to eat between meals.
Fantastic!.......2007-01-28
After having so much success with Trevor's cd "Your Power Within" I had to try "Relax Your Way to Thin." I've lost 17 pounds so far and it is fantastic! I've never wanted to say I'm on a "diet" and I didn't really want to change my eating habits. But, after listening to the cd, my whole attitude about food and healty eating habits started changing. It made me realize that I wasn't denying myself anything by eating healthier, I was actually giving myself more. The weight started coming off, I'm feeling great and I'm sleeping soundly. Awesome CD, I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to loose weight.
Didnt work.......2007-01-12
This didnt work for me. Maybe because everytime I turned it on I fell asleep. Good way to fall asleep if you are having trouble. Bad way to lose weight.
Very impressed!!.......2006-11-06
I had gone to a Hypnotherapist before to lose weight and did not have much luck. However, I decided to try Trevor's method...and it works!! My eating habits changed dramatically after only listening to the cd twice. It is the most relaxing experience I have ever had. This cd allows you to fall asleep, so I listen to it while I am going to bed. It says that even if you do fall asleep your sibconcious will receive the messages that Trevor sends, without a doubt, it does! I am really amazed by this cd! I am getting ready to order his cd's for exercise and to quit smoking.
Thank you Trevor!!!
Amazing Changes!.......2005-08-04
This is an amazing CD with incredible results! I have always had weight problems, tried all the fad diets and always gained the weight back. Trevor has a soothing, reassuring and relaxing voice that has helped me to really start losing the weight. I have never looked or felt better, and I'm keeping the pounds off. This program has truly changed my life and I owe it all to Trevor. Thank you!

Book Description
Healthy eating is conscious eating, according to eating disorders specialist Susan Albers. In this book, she introduces concepts of acceptance and awareness of one's eating behaviors, new exercises steeped in Buddhist practices for healing negative patterns in this area, and a means for restoring tranquility to meals. Albers does not encourage a diet of deprivation, but instead provides a checklist for the wide variety of mindless eating approaches, from eating when not hungry to faddish diets to food rituals. Practical exercises grounded in cognitive behavioral research reveal the forces that drive unconscious eating. These step-by-step instructions help readers cut through the mind's chatter and reach a new level of understanding of their relationship to food, weight, and health. This, finally, is a sound weight loss program that uses mindfulness techniques to break the patterns of unhealthy eating.

But Here's a Better Book For You.......2007-09-09
The information in this book is vague, hazy and totally non-motivating. Please, before you spend $$$ on Eating Mindfully purchase The Seven Secrets of Slim People. It is focussed, dense with wisdom and EXCELLENT exercises that develop your sane sense of how, why and when you eat so that you can lose that obsessive relationship you now have with food. Eating Mindfully will leave you treading water with no shore in sight.
The Seven Secrets of Slim People
Useful Suggestions, But Not Enough Foundation.......2005-12-13
This book is a collection of 46 brief observations on mindless eating. The observations are short, one or two pages, and include suggestions on how to turn mindless eating into mindfull eating. The observations themselves are diverse so every reader will most likely find several that relate to their specific problems with eating.
However, very little of the book is devoted to the fundamentals of "mindfullness". The book causally quotes the Buddhist origins of "mindfullness" but does not expand on the topic. This causes the observations to feel a little empty since they're constantly referring to a "mindfullness" concept that hasn't been meaningfully explained.
If you want a fundamental understanding of Buudhist "mindfulness" before you apply it to eating problems then I would read "The Zen of Eating" by Kabatznick. If you prefer a more 'thought for the day' type of format then this book is more appropriate.
I saw this book in O Oprah Magazine.......2005-07-23
What a wonderful, compassionate and helpful guide! I've run across this book in several places but I finally broke down and bought it when I saw it in Oprah Magazine. I'm glad I did. It was different than the other diet books I've bought. It was insightful, easy to read and positive. It helped me to understand why I mindlessly eat and gave a lot of helpful hints for eating in a more mindful, relaxed way. If you want a sample of what is inside this book before you buy it, check out Dr. Albers' website. It was a helpful resource for me and would be for anyone with eating issues.
This book provides a healthy guide........2003-05-21
Eating Mindfully provides an excellent guide to people who are serious about learning about themselves and their relationship with food. This book does not promote diets; instead it focuses on true self-awareness. The book explains that through self-awareness one can understand how and why he/she has certain eating behaviors. Buddhism stresses the importance of awareness, and Dr. Albers utilizes some of the most useful facets of Buddhism to help her organize an effective guide.
Dr. Albers explains that if you understand yourself and why you eat the way you do, a balance will be reached and a healthy relationship with food will result. Anyone can lose weight through dieting, but to become the person you want to be and stay that way, a permanent change in behavior is required -- anyone who is honest with himself/herself knows that. Dr. Albers provides a guide to anyone who wants to and has the determination to make this change in his/her life.
After reading the book, I found myself more aware of my eating patterns. In several instances it helped me to not stuff myself silly, which I tend to do on occasion.
I would highly recommend this book.
Book Description
Tim LaHaye contends that his bestselling Left Behind series (with Jerry Jenkins) is "the first fictional portrayal of prophetic events that are true to the literal interpretation of Bible prophecy." Gary DeMar takes issue with this bold claim, contending that the theological premise the series is based upon is only one interpretation of the book of Revelation.
DeMar examines the series in four distinct sections: The Left Behind Sensation; Putting Tim LaHaye's Literalism to the Test; the Theology Behind Left Behind; and What Does it Mean and What Does it Matter? Readers will learn to develop a simple method of Bible interpretation and to assess the impact of Left Behind on the future of the church and our society.
Customer Reviews:
Hey folks. It's already happened...........2007-09-01
While _Left Behind_ and similar books have us Christians waiting for a "Rapture" to take us away before the Tribulation, Gary Demar's _End Times Fiction_ makes the point that the events referenced in Revelation, Daniel, etc. refer to the events in Jerusalem around 70 A.D.
Demar does use plenty of Bible references in his book to make his point, and it would be useful to have a Bible at hand to read along. (Having more or less grown up with the idea of either a pre- or post-trib Rapture, this particular viewpoint is a bit novel to me....)
Demar does leave the reader hanging somewhat, as to what will actually happen at the "end of the world" (pp. 213-214).
Essential End Times Reading.......2006-12-12
There are, and have been, a multitude of Christian interpretations of the "end times" propehcies found in Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel, the gopsels, etc. Throughout church history, good Christians have disagreed over what the prophetic symbols and language in these books represent. The pre-millenial dispensationalism synthesized from other ideas by John Darby a couple of centuries ago has easily come to dominate popular end times thought among conservative North American Christians. Why has it proven so strong? I would venture to say that its main strength is that while nineteenth century liberal Protestantism was consciously and explicitly jury rigging an amillenial eschatology to fit the spirit of nineteenth century scientific progressivism, Darby and his disciples, like Scofield and Ryrie, were claiming to have produced an end times theology that was Biblically sound, because it was Biblically literal, through and through. In our own day, publishing giants Tim LaHaye and Hal Lindsey continue to claim that their "Late Great Planet Earth" and "Left Behind" eschatology is the intrepretation of prophecy that is true to literal scriptural intrepretation where possible, and true to common sense always.
Gary DeMar's thesis is straightforward: LaHaye, Lindsey, et al. derive their pre-millenial eschatology from scripture only by repeatedly violating their own standards of literal and common sense Biblical interptretation. DeMar drives this point home again and again as he targets pretty much all of the major points of the "Left Behind" eschatology: the rise of the "new Roman Empire" in the EU/UN, the rise of the antichrist, the rapture, the rebuilding of the temple, the "mark of the beast", the seven years tribulation, and more. DeMar's analysis of "Left Behind" eschatology is Biblically informed, intelligent, comprehensive, and, though he could be a bit nicer at times, ultimately fair.
I myself had come to see a few years back that the "Left Behind" eschatology was simply missing the Biblical literalism it preached. But DeMar still had some surprises for me. For instance, the book of Revelation never mentions a seven year time period. And if we interpret the letters to the seven churches as a script for the ensuing history of the church, we have to give up what LaHaye calls the "any moment theory" of the rapture: Any Christian who realized that these letters represented a history of the church would know that the rapture couldn't come until the history had completed itself!
In short, alot of good people out there believe that "Left Behind" eschatology is built on a literal or common sense interpretation of Biblical prophecy. Sadly, it just isn't. And if you haven't read this book, you probably don't understand "Left Behind."
I can't give this book five stars because, first, most of the "Left Behind" believers and proponents are basically good people, trying to follow the Lord as bestt they can, bumps, bruises, and all, just like anyone esle who calls themselves Christian. They think they are being true to the Bible even if they aren't. And DeMar would have better served his readers by taking a more genial tone in some of his comments. DeMar's book falls short of five stars, secondly, because after trying to pull the Biblical rug out from under the feet of "Left Behind" he espouses a preterist (or, more precisely, partial preterist) view of Biblical prophecy that raises major problems itself. (Can we really believe Paul was just talking about the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in his letters to the Thessalonions?) In the eyes of some reviewers, this largely invalidates DeMar's contribution. But I disagree. We can all hope that he or someone will have a convincing eschatology to take the place of the "Left Behind" variety that he argues against. But the issue today is that too many Christians believe, and *believe that they have to believe*, the "Left Behind" eschatology. And if DeMar can free us from "Left Behind", we can explore other alternatives ourselves. So I think that what DeMar has accomplished here is contribution enough.
To sum up: DemMar's own preterist views need more defending than he himself has marshalled in this book, but he has done North American conservative Protestantism a great service in showing that "Left Behind" eschatology is not the product of literal or common sense Biblical interpetation, and that we are free to dispense with it and seek the Biblical truth elsewhere.
Don't be left behind.......2006-08-15
This book is a perfectly written explanation of why all the Christians that believe in the End Times theology of the rapture and AntiChrist etc. are simply wrong. There is no historical precedent in Christian history to believe the Left Behind Theology. It is just bad scholarship to cut and paste the books of Daniel, Isaiah, the Gospels, and Revelation into Tim Lahayes own personal eschatology. Please read this book with an open mind and spirit to understand the true context of of the writers of the bible.
Some facts of the matter is that Nero was the Antichrist his name in Greek equaled 666, the author of revelation was writing about current events.(In the Greek language there were no arabic numbers so letters equaled numbers).
The prophesies that are so often quoted as the AntiChrist was really the history of Antiochus IV when he ransacked the temple before the book of Daniel was written.
Buy the book for some much needed educated truth.
Note the folks that don't like this book.......2006-07-15
Is simply because they are rapture believers, and just can't stand that some biblical scholars have a different theology then they do, and can defend it. God is not an author of confusion, and the points made in this book are not hard to comprehend. When Jesus said "This generation will not pass.." He MEANT the people he was talking to, not people 2000 years (or more) in the future. In fact, it's the dispensationalist that must find a way to make it mean 2000 years ahead. Square peg..meet round hole. Nearly all the points are about that simple. Can't find a 7 year tribulation in the Bible? Good, because it's not there. To show his understanding, DeMar even tells you how LaHaye and others came up with this nonsense, and then slices it apart. As Demar notes in his forward, this book is not a personal attack on LaHaye, however, I feel most dipensationalist, due to their pride, and belief that know more about the Bible then everyone else will take it that way, the reviews they give to any book that disagress with them backs my point fully. I may even reccomend Left Behind enthusiast don't read this book, I don't think they can read it fairly, and won't be able to handle it. That's why I'm not giving it 5 stars, it isn't good for the people that really need to read it. Of course, that's really not DeMar's fault.
As biblical as DaVinci Code is historical..........2006-06-10
Just reading the assertions made in this book shows me that the author hasn't a grasp on what is means to interpret biblical prophecy. Rather than trying to refute the obvious failings of this book, I'd recomment that if the author wants to write fiction, perhaps he should take a lesson from Dan Brown and come up with some really strange ideas that no one in their right mind would believe if they were to actually do their own research.
Book Description
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. For centuries Christians have proclaimed these central truths. The gospel that began in space and time will ultimately be fulfilled at Christ's return. And as we wait for Christ, we find both encouragement from the gospel and a reason for hope. These studies in Paul's letters to the Thessalonians enlighten our minds, lift our hearts and cause us to worship the God of the gospel and of time.
Customer Reviews:
Does you church need more love and unity??.......2002-09-11
This bible study focuses on the church of Thessalonica and Paul's relationship with them as Apostle, Pastor, Parent... The church was being persecuted and struggling with false teachers therefore Paul lovingly rebukes (idlesness), teaches (apostolic authority in rebuking and teaching the truth, for instance in regard to the second coming of christ) and encourages them to stand firm and in unity, spread the gospel to all nations.
Book Description
The End Of Suffering: A Guide to Fearless Living is an inspiring step-by-step guide to surrendering the story of who we think we are and experiencing the end of our suffering. The authors' goal is to provide direct experience of the fact that the peace, love, and spaciousness we are all looking for is already within us - it is who we are! This book is a collaboration between Russell Targ, a laser physicist, pioneering psychical researcher, and writer, and J. J. Hurtak, a social scientist and spiritual teacher in both Judeo-Christian and Buddhist traditions. This practical guide brings together the enduring teachings of the East on peacefulness and self-realization, and puts them into a modern framework emphasizing experience over belief.
The End of Suffering demonstrates that the dualistic logic of Aristotle is a significant source of suffering today. It is through his writings on non-contradiction that we are falsely taught that we and the Divine are separate - rather than one. Aristotelian logic leads people to say absurd dualistic things like, "Those who are not with us are with the terrorists."
Buddha taught us to live a helpful and compassionate life, and to surrender our ego to the peace of spaciousness. This Mahayana middle path was greatly expanded by the Second Century genius Nagarjuna. Whereas Aristotle taught that an idea is either true of false, Nagarjuna demonstrated that most things are neither true, nor not true. The so-called complementarity of waves and particles in modern physics support this view, along with the famous indeterminacy theorem of Kurt Gödel. The modern physics of nonlocality and our own laboratory experience with remote viewing (psychical) research all show our potential for experiencing expanded awareness.
This book is a uniquely understandable treatment of Nagarjuna's peerless teachings on logical thought and emptiness. The Dalai Lama described Nagarjuna as one of the truly enlightened people of all time. Targ and Hurtak describe a peaceful and joyful path based on these teachings.
Customer Reviews:
A scientific and logical approach to spirituality.......2007-08-09
Most of the new age books and spiritual related literature present to us a lot of information that most of the times seems too abstract or too "up in the sky" (by this I do not mean that all that information is not real or authentic).
I believe there needs to be a bridge between everyday reality and spirituality, or to put it in other words, we need to start bringing and applying spirituality to our every day life. This is a great book for adressing this sense of separation. In my opinion, it can help a logic mind to start awakening to a more intuitive way of thinking and a more holistic perception of reality.
The title may not sound like a very scientific book, but it is mainly about physics and phylosophy, written on a very simple way (I think understandable to anyone).
It also may be great to "ground" a lot of people on the spiritual path to a more concrete way of living without losing any "connection" to the spiritual realm.
Wether you enjoy this book or not, I think is a must. Besides the essence of the content itself (which obviously is the teachings that the authors are attemping to transmit), it is also an excellent reference about the development of science and spirituallity in our times.
On top of everything, it is not a long book, so that makes it even more readable.
This is a fine book, but..........2007-07-01
Dr. Richard Moss has a more lucid and well-defined program for putting the ego in its proper place. That program is in his 2007 book called The Mandala of Being.
I Neither Liked Nor Disliked This Book.......2007-06-11
Essentially, this book is a scattered assortment of topics from psi research, quantum theory and Buddhism which are supposed to culminate in the reader a sense of connectivity to the universe and in turn trivialize our earthy sufferings; sort of a new age version of the "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff." However, I really don't think that the authors have delivered on this premise. Although to some readers this book may serve as a semi-decent introduction to such topics as psychic phenomenon, quantum mechanics and Buddhism, overall, the explanations are superficial and don't come together in a coherent fashion to support what the book claims in its title. If you are looking for a more meaningful coverage of the relationship between quantum theory and psi, may I recommend "Entangled Minds: Extrasensory Experiences in a Quantum Reality" by Dean Radin.
Why such an angry response?.......2007-01-15
R. Parness "BULL's" angry review reminds me of the emotional reactions readers have when they don't take the time to (or learn the art of) careful reading. Aristotle is an important component of this innovative book's thesis about Buddhism: it is as connected to a different kind of logic as it is to the "truths" and "pathways" we so often associate Buddhism with. I'm finding the book extremely helpful in its claims that we in the West still hang on to our ancient Greek ways of dualistic thinking, and that these ways cause so much mental (and even physical)suffering. Aristotle's logic is carefully explained, is not mentioned more than necessary, and is not a reason for careful readers to tear up the book. On the contrary, I would hope if any reader finds the sections on logic puzzling, he or she might simply patiently retrace reading steps to find an enlightening stance on Buddhist awareness vs. Western habits of thinking.
A Clueless scientist tries Buddhism.......2007-01-07
Very few books have I ever torn up and tossed and this is one. 'Repititous drivel' comes to mind. Mr Targ you may not use the words 'Aristotalian logic' in each and every paragraph without insulting and ultimately losing your audience. Do we really need a bland repititious scientist to tell us what Buddhism is about? Sir, only empty headed boring scientists like yourself ever subscribed to aristotalian logic (whatever that is)to begin with.

"Breast cancer is never completely over," says author Marisa C. Weiss, M.D., a radiation oncologist. Even when x-rays are negative and doctors proclaim remission, breast-cancer survivors often suffer from continued health problems along with elevated levels of anxiety, and the specter of recurrence is just a small part of the picture.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer: A Survivor's Guide for When Treatment Ends and the Rest of Your Life Begins has won endorsements from both Bernie Siegel and former surgeon general C. Everett Koop. It deftly and with compassion maps out a guide for going back to a "normal" life: for handling fears of recurrence and worries that family members will develop breast cancer and for managing physical posttreatment problems, including the lingering side effects of radiation, fertility difficulties, changes in sex drive, and feelings of unattractiveness.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer is comprehensive--at more than 500 pages, it has the room to thoroughly cover pain control and medication, genetic testing, weight management, hormone and tamoxifen therapy, alternative treatments such as traditional Chinese medicine, breast reconstruction, and the various tests for recurrence, from PET and CAT scans to MRIs and blood testing for cancer markers. It's also a superb reference for emotional issues, from depression and generalized anxiety to insecurities about reentering the job market and revealing the cancer experience to coworkers. Weiss includes many quotes from breast-cancer survivors, so readers know they're not alone. The extensive resources and excellent index add to this book's immense helpfulness. --Erica Jorgensen

Needs to be updated.......2006-02-28
There's a lot of good information in this book...for 1998. Breast cancer treatment and survival has come a long way since then; this book should reflect that. Also, was surprised at how much stuff they covered that *wasn't* post-treatment. A lot of what this book covered was in other books for the newly diagnosed and those going through treatment -- I wanted more about actual life after treatment, not more recaps of breast reconstruction.
Disappointing.
The Very Best for Metastatic Information!.......2001-05-07
I've been reading and researching breast cancer on and off for 4 years. A year ago my breast cancer metasticized, and it's hard to find honest information (or any information) about metastatic disease. The title to this book is misleading, because it doesn't mention the fantastic, updated metastatic information. It is by far the most comprehensive, readable treatment of this I've found. A comforting guide in the privacy of your home!.......2000-09-04
My daughter was sitting with my husband and myself in the office of my radiation oncologist. She spotted "Living Beyond Breast Cancer" on the bookshelf. She like myself was so lost when we found I had breast cancer. Neither my husband, daughter or myself knew what was going to happen. She began reading the book and could not put it down. When the Dr. came into the room he made comment about the book she was reading. She was so elated with all the facts, which are printed in such simple language that we could understand. The Dr. saw her enthusiasm and offered for her to take it home. Since that time I have not been able to seperate myself from this book. As I progress thru my mastectomy, I find new items of interest. It also helped me understand what my partner, my husband, was feeling. I read one of the chapters to him, at our breakfast table. We sat and cried and agreed that the way he was feeling was as written in the book. I never realized just how much he hurt and how comforting it was to him to know there was a book written that could tell me how he felt.
I have since recommended this book to others. If you cannot get out to support groups or are afraid to go, this book gives you all the support you could ever ask for in the comfort of your home or office. I am 62 years old and a very active business woman. I wondered if my business life was over. The book proved my fears to be very wrong.
For myself and my daughter, it is our lifeline! Thank you Dr. Marisa Weiss and also Ellen Weiss. You have done a tremendous favor to women like me.
Finally, a resource that I can relate to and use!.......1998-04-23
This is the type of book I've been wanting. It offers wonderful support and needed information. The authors are empathetic and straight forward, guiding us to reach beyond (hence the title, of course) the psychological boundaries that women who have survived a bout with breast cancer put on ourselves. It offers clear, concise suggestions for what to do now and for facing the future, which may or may not include a recurrance of breast cancer. There are sections which are not applicable to me, but this is bound to be true when a text is so comprehensive. After checking this book out of the library three times, I have realized that this is a book all women who have had breast cancer need to own for themselves.

This book is the most spiritual DAILY walk with God that you can have while facing the challenges of weight loss. Time and Money Well Spent - So Different from All the Others! .......2005-08-14
Maybe I'm the exception, but this is the first time I've ever thought about diet (not dieting but lifestyle) and exercise as a God thing. It's always been a me against myself struggle where I always came up short in the end.
It seems so obvious now that it's almost embarassing. God can do all things including help you move to a healthy life style in a supporting and loving way. The authors are ladies after my own heart. They clearly identify with same lifestyle issues I struggle with and write in a way that I get.
My mom and I did this together, long distance, and will continue to reread it again and again. It is that powerful and that good. A few months and 20+ pounds later, it's too early to truly say with certainty, but I think it's life changing book for me. I highly recommend!
Motivation Without Guilt.......2005-08-08
I am impressed with this helpful book, as the authors identify with the reader's struggles, challenges and achievements. They also offer motivation in a positive way, helping the reader to depend on God and His Power. They avoid using guilt as a motivational tool, and for that, I am thankful.
Terrific Tool of Encouragement.......2000-09-20
Claire Cloninger and Laura Barr have written a powerful "little" book about being "Faithfully Fit"....I began reading it each day and 17pounds later I continue to "reread" it....just wish it was for 365 days of the year. I learned so much about how to change my thinking. Not only on the foods I choose but also how God looks at us as "whole" people - body, mind and spirit. I highly recommend this book for motivation and "correct thinking" in acheiving the "Temple" God desires for us.
Faith, fun and fitness - and success!.......2000-06-29
So, you think you can make me and my 5 fellow weight loss class chunky's enjoy themselves while fighting back the fat? Fat chance, we said. Then, we read this book! A collective 60+ lbs later, we, in our newfound size 6,8 & 10 joyful bodies are still chuckling and re-reading this wonderful book. "Faithfully Fit" contains scripturally based curricula including anecdotes, daily steps and tasks, and tools for real change for health and true fitness. If you don't read this book, you are missing an opportunity to change your life. "Faithfully Fit" is a permanent fixture in my kitchen!

The Past, Present, and FutureâExposed
The events wracking the Middle East today are confusing to even the most avid news buff. Now all the answers to your questions are offered in just one resource. Divided into five main sections, Iran: The Coming Crisis contains the most up-to-date, thorough information available and is complete with maps, charts, and timelines for visual assistance. Iran’s past, present, and future are exposedâthe country’s quest for nuclear weapons and support of Palestinian terror groups, its ability to âplay the oil card,â and Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s apocalyptic beliefs that motivate his actions. You’ll discover the truth about today’s events, how they relate to Bible prophecy, and what the Bible clearly describes is yet to come. It’s a crisis unlike any the world has ever faced.
Are We Headed for a Nuclear Jihad?
â Israel must be wiped off the map,â Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said it himself. He has denied the Holocaust, and his actions are motivated by a dangerous apocalyptic view of Islam. Meanwhile, Islamic extremists are in hot pursuit of nuclear weapons as they stand as gatekeepers to the Persian Gulf oil flow. Closer to home, President Bush has stated that the greatest threat to America is nuclear terrorism.
In a prophecy written over 2,500 years ago, Ezekiel 38-39 foretells Iran ’s future. Iran , Russia , and other Islamic nations will invade Israel in the end times. Today, the connection between Iran and Russia only grows. How close is this invasion?
What will happen?
Will America survive?
Will the world?
Mark Hitchcock , an expert in Bible prophecy, exposes Iran ’s past, present, and future with striking clarity. Find maps, charts, and answers to your every question inside.
âI highly recommend Mark as a faithful guide to understanding current events in light of God’s wonderful plan of prophecy.â
Tim LaHaye
Pastor and bestselling author
Story Behind the Book
There seems to be no turning back from the looming crisis in the Middle East. The Islamic and political rulers of Iran are set in their ideology by principle. The West and Israel are headed for some sort of confrontation economically, socially, and likely militarily. Mark Hitchcock ’s background as a lawyer, pastor, and expert in Bible prophecy suits him perfectly as a Christian authority on the subject. Timing is critical, and his new book will release as more and more everyday peopleâChristians and non-Christians alikeârealize the gravity of world events and question how they relate to Bible prophecy.

Informative, yet lacking........2007-06-04
With the onslaught of materiel being poured out on the subject of Iran and its supposed role in Bible prophecy, it would be a challenging task for anyone to write anything fresh and original on the subject. Nevertheless, Mark Hitchcock has thrown his hat into the ring. This may not be the most sensational books on the subject, but it is one of the fairer treatments that you will see.
There are several things about this book that are good. First, Mark writes with a reader friendly, teaching style instead of the loud preachy style of someone like John Hagee. Two, his historical information about Persia and Babylon was presented in a memorable way. Third, the information on Iran was fair, informative, and quite possibly right as regards to their being a nuclear threat. Fourth, he at least makes an effort to deal with objections to his view of Ezekiel 38-39 and does not just assume that everyone is on board with him. I do think, however, that he is wrong when he says the "vast majority" of scholars see Ezekiel 38-39 as having a future literal fulfillment in the sense that they see Russia, Iran, etc, coming down to attack the modern day nation of Israel. In fact, I think the only safe thing to say there is that the vast majority of dispensational scholars see it as fulfilled in this manner. For a past fulfillment, he seems to indicate that only preterists take a past fulfillment view of this passage, but that is far from accurate. One does not have to be a preterist, to believe that Ezekiel 38-39 has been fulfilled or all of the OT for that matter.
Hitchcock does, in a footnote, deal with Gary DeMar's view that the Ezekiel passage was fulfilled in what happened in Esther, but he was a little too quick to dismiss some of the very good verbal parallels that were made by DeMar. The good thing is that Hitchcock did list what he calls the inconsistencies between Esther and Ezekiel.
Another problem, I find with Mark's handeling of Ezekiel 38-39 is that he fails to address that when Ezekiel writes this that the very first Temple (built by Solomon) was still standing. There was still another Temple to be built in 516 BC and then attacked and shut down by the Syrian's, and later remodeled by Herod, and then destoryed in 70 AD by the Romans.
Let us grant, however, that Ezekiel 38-39 is yet future. Mark's placement of the battle of Gog and MaGog after the rapture is simply guess work. He fails to deal with the fact that Revelation places a battle of Gog and Magog after the 1000 year reign (Revelation 20:8). It is rather odd that he at least attempts to deal with many of the other problems of the Ezekiel passage, but does not deal with its placement in Revelation.
Mark assumes a dispensational position throughout the book without defending that position as valid. He puts his hat on the rack of what is currently popular in pop theology. I am certain, however, that Mark does in other books defend this position, but he assumes it in this book.
Let me now state what I view to be the biggest problem with the book. Mark does not deal with the calling or role of the Church at all. He does have a call for his readers to get saved at the end, but even informs the new believers to find a local church, but he in no way defines what the voice and position of the Church should be on the complex conditions that are currently facing the Middle East. Several times he unashameably says that the Church is "whisked away" in the rapture to be with the Lord. Now I know that Mark would likely say that the Church should be telling people to repent and get ready for the rapture, because of the conditions in the Middle East, but what about the Church's voice concerning justice, mercy and peace in the Middle East? He is so sure of the rapture (this he will take as a compliment I am sure) that he does not see the Church as having any real role, other than to wait to be "whisked away." The problem I have with, not just Mark, but most of the dispensationalists preachers that I hear is that they are ready to abandon God's creation, rush off to Heaven and let Hell break lose for seven years. The problem with this view is what if thirty years from now, the rapture has not taken place and many are dead in the Middle East and in the world because of this crises, what should the Church be saying or doing? Mark seems to be writing as an American preacher and not taking seriously his calling to be a preacher is God's universal Church. In my opinion, he makes the mistake of seeing the West and especially the USA as Christian and the rest of the world, well, not so much. He talks in a supportive way about Israel and the USA taking out Iran's nuclear facilities and stopping them, but that is the role of militaries and government, but what about the role and voice of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Should we not be groaning and crying out at the place of the World's pain and praying for peace and working toward it? Look back at the various crises throughout history. Look at the Holocaust, Rwanda, or South African Apartheid. What should the Church's role have been in these situations? We need to be asking the same questions today about the Middle East. It may be that the rapture takes place 200 years from now or even 2000 years from now and we cannot just sit around and waith to get "whisked away." There is power for salvation and deliverance in the gospel of Jesus Christ, not just for individual privatized salvation, but for the world. A new creation has been unleashed in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and the Church needs to live and speak in light of this power and not just wait to be taken out and escape. Mark could add a great deal of depth to his perspective if he would consider these things.
There is much more I could say about this book, but I will close on a positive note and that is that Mark Hitchcock has written an informative and sencere book that rightly states that their is a real crises with Iran and nuclear weapons. Let us all pray for the coming of the Lord and look for it, but let us be praying for peace in the Middle East and let us work toward it. It may be that the Lord hears and heals.
Comment on Iran: The Coming Crisis.......2007-01-16
The book was interesting to some extent, but it did not hold my attention the way I hoped it would. After reading a little way into it, I skimmed through the rest of the book. Perhaps I was just being a little picky, though. Others may have a different opinion entirely.
Unreason, or faith, is the threat........2006-10-18
When I started reading "Iran, the coming crisis", I thought I was going to read an informative, current affairs book on the crisis with Iran.
Mark Hitchock is blind sided by his belief that the Bible holds the Thruth. His story of the second coming, and the rapture being "an event that, from our human perspective, could occur at any moment" acctually made me laugh. We are even provided with God's Blueprint for the End of Times (with a time line!) But, this is serious matter. Mr Hitchock's book is a sad case of unreasonable, almost fanatical thinking. He has written a staggering Christian lunacy.
The problems we are facing in the Middle East are too serious . American should get informed. This book belongs in the trash bin.

Book Description
Here is a readable, reliable guide to the book of Revelation that thoughtfully engages the questions people most often ask about this difficult book of the Bible.
Craig Koester provides sound, informed commentary on each section of the book of Revelation, drawing on the best recent scholarship and contemporizing his discussion with references to events like the siege at Waco, the phenomenal sales of the Left Behind series, and the use of Revelation in hymnody and art. Based on two decades of teaching Revelation to seminary students, pastors, and lay groups, this finely tuned discussion strikes an ideal balance between taking the text's first-century context seriously and making Revelation relevant to twenty-first-century readers.
Notable for its clarity and insight, Revelation and the End of All Things makes an excellent resource for church, group, and personal Bible study.

A deep book, but at times a difficult premise.......2007-02-24
I had a hard time with this book. I started out liking it, and I do 'get it', but I cannot agree with the overall conclusion of the book: that the book of revelation is simply a book applicable for any time in history where persecution and compromise are widespread. As I search through several different bibles, look at the world today in light of history, and search my own feelings about what John was actually writing about and to whom, I am struck with the overwhelming conclusion that the revelation was and is anything but a kind of fuzzy, nonspecific book of the bible. Far from it. It takes more than scholarly logic to understand it. It takes faith. Either you 'see the signs of the times' or you have closed your eyes to the obvious. This was one of my main problems with the book.
Nonetheless, if you have the patience, it may be a different perspective worth reading about, if only to see a 'possibly' incorrect interpretation. David W.
Pretty good explanation of this book of The Bible.......2007-01-09
The author presents the book of revelation in a clear cut and easy to understand manner. Also, it doesn't come across of being biased as some books of theology can be. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the topic.
OK But not the best short summary of Revelation.......2007-01-09
The introductory material was interesting, but I did not find the actual commentary particularly insightful. The author tends to repeat himself a lot, making the same comment or point numerous times in a chapter and during the book. He also ignores/misses much of the recapitulatory nature of the book. After criticizing dispensational premillenial views (and justly so) in the introduction, he fails to recognize that chapter 20 of Revelation begins a new cycle, taking us back to the first advent of Christ and the binding of Satan. He therefore tacks on the binding of Satan and the start of the millenial period AFTER the return of Christ and the end of history in chapter 19...i.e. he takes a premillenial view. The "great supper of God" in 19:17 is an image of hell. Notice the reference to "the wine press of the fierce wrath of God" in 19:15, which forms a parallel to the reference to hell in 14:19-20. Hence, chapter 20 begins a new cycle and goes back to cover the entire church age. Koester misses this and ends up not offering a particularly coherent or insightful perspective on the millenium, among other things.
Instead of Koester's book, I would recommend More Than Conquerors by William Hendriksen and The Returning King by Vern Poythress as superior short commentaries/guidebooks on Revelation. Both are idealist/amillenial in perspective, they get the structure of Revelation right, and they are more insightful in my opinion. Also excellent is the mid-sized commentary Triumph of the Lamb by Dennis Johnson.
level headed reading.......2006-05-26
simply outstanding! this book deals with the book of revelation and "end times" stuff related therein, with sobriety, sanity and a truly God honoring, Christ honoring manner and message. The author recognizes the need to understand revelation according to it's literary type and according to it's first century context as well, while yet recognizing that it is meant for all christians at all times. The author has truly done his homework for this book and handles the scripture with integrity and care. In this book, you will get background information on the book of revelation, differing interpretive methods, and a section by section running commentary/exposition. This book aims to help the reader make sense out of revelation by exploring what it most likely would have meant in the context of when and where revelation was written originally, and then at the same time showing how this meaning transposes to christians of all times and places. If you are steeped in the left behind series type of belief, please consider this book by Craig Koester as an alternative viewpoint. Thanks to the author for giving laypeople a solid, sane and scripturally honoring book on revelation! Also very helpful and sane treatments of the book of revelation are: Breaking The Code by Bruce Metzger: The Throne, The Lamb and The Dragon by Paul Spilsbury and: Return of The King by Vern Poythress.
It's Amazing to Think That This Book Might Actually Offend Some Christians.......2006-05-06
. . . But it will. This book by Craig R. Koester will make it a whole lot easier to teach my Sunday school class on Revelation without having to go to some modernist debunker to do it. This book clearly honors Christ in its writing while making it clear that Revelation's gift to the church is hope and not calamity. If you're a serious Christian who wants a Revelation that will inspire you through trials that may befall you because of your faith, through out all of your "Left Behind" crap and read "Revelation and the End of All Things" instead. Then pass it on to someone else who needs it.
