Lt. Eve Dallas and her partner Detective Delia Peabody are called on-scene to investigate the death of a teacher at one of NYC's top private schools. Craig Foster was a popular history teacher who died from drinking poisoned cocoa. Since Foster brought the cocoa from home, Dallas and Peabody initially suspect his wife or a family member. But there are no red flags there, so they move on to the parents of Foster's students or one of his colleagues. They hone in on another teacher, one known for his sexual promiscuousness and who Foster had had words with over his harassment of a school employee. Before they can investigate this man further, his body is discovered in the school's pool. Dallas and Peabody are baffled but convinced more than ever that someone connected with the school is behind the murders.

For the first time, Eve is having a hard time concentrating on an investigation. A woman from Roarke's past has entered the picture, and it isn't long before there's tension between Eve and Roarke and harsh words spoken. Stoic Eve is startled to find herself so emotionally overwrought by this woman and her efforts to create conflict between Eve and Roarke. But she forces her mind on the investigation and what she discovers shocks even the jaded Lt. Dallas.

Robb's popular series remains a constant bestseller and it isn't hard to figure out why, with likeable characters and suspenseful plots. The relationship between Dallas and Roarke is a bonus and is explored in-depth in this book. Robb displays talent for drawing the reader into her characters' angst and despair at the disruption in their marriage. Eve's and Roarke's mutual fright over babies is humorous and adds a light note to an otherwise dark mystery.

As always, J.D. Robb has created a fast paced mystery featuring our favorite murder cop, Eve Dallas and her deliciously sexy, wealthy husband, the inimitable Roark. Although Robb's focus on the single storyline omits the antics of some of this series's more colorful characters whom we have come to love, she retains the flavor of the "In Death" novels through the personalities of her main characters. "Interlude" is a must have to complete your "In Death" collection.

Better and Better.......2007-09-27

I've read just over half of the books in this series, and this was my favorite so far.
I think the relationship issues with Eve and Roarke were much more true to life than they have been in previous books. Don't get me wrong, I like the series alot, but sometimes the fights between them seemed to be just staged to get to the 'making up'. This book made their conflicts seem more real, and even knowning they'll get their 'happily ever after' in the end (they just have to!) there is some serious tension and tears! There was also more on the other characters this time around (and Summerset's shell cracks a little more)
Some reviews said that the ending was too predictable, but even though I thought I knew 'whodunit' I really couldn't quite believe it until reading the end!

Another Excellent "In Death" Book.......2007-09-27

This latest installment in the In Death series takes us into the minds of both Eve and Rourke. Throw in a murder at an exclusive private school and you have Innocent in Death. This book gets more into Eve and Rourke's relationship. Someone from Rourke's past comes to visit and Eve gets jealous. I really liked how in the end Rourke puts Maggie into her place. A right cross from Eve placed on Maggie's nose didn't help either.

My sister says the book has a predicitable ending. I did not see who the murderer was.....

I was somewhat disappointed in the book because it has less than 100 pages, but it was delivered as promised.

This book has only 88 pages but was portrayed as a novel, rather than the novella that it truly is. I returned it unread so as to get my money back. If Amazon wants to keep their customers happy, they should practice more truth in their book summaries. I was completely disappointed with Amazon as well as with the author (why collude in such a sham?). Better to pay full price at Borders than to go through the hassle of a return.

From the start, I knew this book was originally part of an anthology from the "Out of this World" series Out of this World. I still say even 88 pages of a JD Robb story is worth the price. In this installment, Eve has been given orders by her Commander to attend an off-planet conference and give a talk on homicide. The conference of course is held at the Olympus Resort, one of Roarke's many properties, and most of the gang from Cop Central are in attendance. Seems the big attraction, one Commander Douglas R. Skinner, a police veteran with a 50-year, spotless record is very interested in Eve, mostly because he wants to take her husband down for all the evil doings he had committed in his former life. When Eve is approached by Commander Skinner, she does what you would expect; she tells him to get lost! So begins the adventure of a settling of scores between the police commander and our favorite lieutenant, going head-to-head to balance the scales of justice. Whether you purchase the book by itself for $2.99 + tax or buy it as part of the "Out of this World" series of stories, it IS worth the money!

A Great Addition to the Series.......2007-08-09

Again Nora Roberts has created a thrilling story that is all neatly placed into this short story. I took it with me to the beach and read all 90 plus pages and just enjoyed every minute of it as I took in a bit of sunshine. Roarke and Eve kept the pages burning and I thought the story moved along at a fast pace and it was very entertaining. Midnight in Death is a great addition to the series.

I have to say that this wasn't one of my favorites, but I think it was me, and not what Nora wrote. I just couldn't get into the plot until about halfway through. I tried. I read the first few chapters and put it down for MONTHS. I thought maybe I was distracted, but when I started it over a few days ago, I just realized that the subject matter was dry to me. Hard to get started.

I loved the personal dramas, as I always do, and the scenes in the delivery room were great, as were the tense scenes between Eve/Roarke/Whitney. She handled that really well.

I had this one figured out early on, but I do with some of them. This just wasn't my favorite, but it was still good.

My only disappointment, was the number of typos that I found in this book. J.D. Robb's editor needs to do a better job proof-reading.

As usual Dallas and Roark (sp?) keep things moving with humor, mystery and romance. This one was is a little more humorous with Dallas' friends having babies and Dallas and Roark expressing disgust as they help them through the ordeals, but I wonder will they become parents next??? Very good reading, or rather listening for me.

An Okay Read - Hope next book is better........2007-06-25

I have always enjoyed J.D.Robb's mysteries, but I was a bit disappointed in this novel.
I did enjoy Mavis and the birth of her child. I thought the scene had a humorous touch which was refreshing. I thought the plot for the most part was weak. Some parts held my attention, but overall I thought it could have been developed better. I'll probably buy Nora's next novel "Innocent in Death" with a view towards it being a better than "Born in Death". I hope so.

Wonderful. Must read!.......2007-06-29

My fiancée and I are almost through Intellectual Foreplay. We have been using it for several months, slowly going through the chapters. Sometimes questions in different chapters have led us to more fully understand one another, and amazingly at other times questions have caused us to reflect and understand our own selves in different ways. Although a few moments with the book have been a challenge, overall, it has actually been tons of fun. I will soon graduate with my doctorate in clinical psychology and I FULLY plan on recommending this book to any couples with whom I do any type of premarital counseling. It has been a very useful tool in a beautiful journey.

I have heard many, many couples say that the first year of marriage is the most difficult. Couples may not know how a spouse rolls the tooth paste roll or in what areas of life the other individual wishes most to grow. And these may be things that will seem huge and insurmountable once one enters into marriage (yes, even the toothpaste rolling). This book asks almost every question imaginable and I think (and hope)that by covering the many things that couples might not otherwise think to talk it may ease the transition of the first year or in the worst case help a couple identify irreconcilable differences before walking down the isle.

It adds variety and depth to an occasional date night and may enrich a relationship. Highly Recommend.

I've read many relationship books, but this is by far the most relevant to any relationship, regardless of how long you have been together. This is fortunately not one of those "fluff" books filled with silly ideas and questions, instead this book is filled with many relevant, practical questions, many of which you wouldn't think of, or would take for granted.

This book is broken into seven parts, Using Your Head and Your Heart, Who Are You, Where Did You Come From, Where Are You Going, Can We Live Together, Where Are We Going, Can We Evolve Together. Each part starts with a real life example, so you can see how understanding that issue may be relevant, before moving onto several pages of questions. These questions are also broken down sections- questions to ask each partner, questions to explore as a couple, observations of your partner and self observations.

Going through this book, or just by yourself, you'll come out at the end with a clearer view of yourself and/or your relationship.

I enjoyed this book. My boyfriend and I asked each other the quetions. I think it is great. Some of the questions you always wanted to ask but may have been hesitant to are in there. So you can now blame it on the book -- so to speak. I recommend this for women who are with me who don't open up too easily. This book could be likened to a perverbial can opener. I found out a lot about him, as well as myself.

separated after 32 yrs.......2006-12-31

My wife and I are now separated after 32yrs of marriage(both married at age 20). This book was originally referred to me by my therapist in hopes that it would help me with conversation should I have to begin all over in the dating world. I found some very intense questions that if answered honestly, could help strengthen and intensify or totally dismiss an existing relationship. The questions asked should be answered by everyone prior to a permanent relationship as the answers can provide a true insight into the individuals involved. Pay close attention to questions that deal in future possibilities; such as permanent health and disability issues, though they are hard to imagine until they happen they become quite real and can have a major affect on a relationship. My wife is now reading this book and I am eager, yet apprehensive for her to finish it, because at that time we will discuss whether I will be returning home, more importantly, after she answers the questions, does she want me to return home. I have purchased this book for my 3 adult children, one who is married, for our marriage couselor and for a very good friend who has become involved with someone. Hopefully my wife and I will be able to use this book to help us reconnect and enjoy another 32 yrs. Thank you Eve for sharing your book with us.

Fun and Interesting Way to Get to Know Someone.......2006-12-06

I bought this book a while back hoping that I could gain insight into a pseudo-relationship I was having at the time. The other person did not want to answer the questions. That told me everything I needed to know. The second person (who is now a part of my life) answered every question openly and honestly. We have talked for hours over these questions. I feel like I know this man so much better now than I would have had I not had this book and used it. I also feel secure in knowing that we are on the same page in many areas regarding our future. I give a lot of credit to the questions in this book for that.

The questions range in topics from "what are your political views?" to "what was your favorite childhood memory?" to "what do you want in a relationship?" The questions can be light hearted only requiring a one word answer or they can have a lot of depth and force the 'answeree' to think and make a concerted effort to give a full and meaningful answer. I love the questions and I love this book. Its amazing how many people (myself included in the past) throw themselves into relationships not knowing what type of person the other is or what they each want out of life together or apart. While the questions in the book will not take you to the deepest recesses of a person's mind, it will certainly put you on track to do so. Have fun. Be mindful. Pay attention to how your partner answers these questions. His/Her answers (or lack of) may save you a lot of heartache down the road. ;)

This romantica book consists of 3 stories set on a magical Chimera Island in the middle of the bermuda triangle. The first is Finding Magic by Kate Douglas, it tells the story of a A list Hollywood actress and her male best friend/bodygaurd/personal assistant. Amanda needs a vaction so her best friend, Les, talks her into visting Chimera. At the same time an elvin prince (these particular elves shape shift into dragons) named Lorcan is sick of bad set ups by his mother. So his manservent Tady (also an elf) talks him into trying to find his bride on his own, through Chimera of course. Once on the island Amanda and Lorcan meet, as do Tady and Les. Tady and Les have instant chemistry and a strong connection. Male/Male sex is not my thing (which I did not realise this was a large element of this story when I purchased it), but the writer did it pretty well. Amanda and Lorcan keep having misunderstandings and thier relationship is not as well fleshed out. All in all the author's heart seemed to be with Les and Tady, not the more typical main (heterosexual) couple. If you injoy reading about male/male relationships, I think you will like this story.

The secound story is Eve Vaughn's 4 Play. Trina is having a really bad day, problems at work and she just caught her boyfriend cheating with her male best friend. She has a well deserved freak out at her boyfriend and throws him out. The show includes one of her all time favorite paintings The Sea God, one big problem, the painting is now erect, but only she seems to notice. Her staff, driven nuts by her freak out behavior, forces her to take her free vaction to Chimera. Where Amanda finds her self in the real live version of the painting. Turns out the Sea God, who's name is Quarian, is courting her in his own unique fashion. Some fun with Quarian bringing Amanda's fantasies to life, but much of the dialogue is overdone and stillted.

A night to remember would have been more memorable had so much vulgarity not have been used. I almost returned the book but it seemed like a good love story once I got past the raunch... It takes away from the love of the story. Here is a man willing to scarifice his heart for the main woman in his life. If she was really his soulmate he could have done it without the vulgarity. If she was a lady she wouldn't have always talked raunchy. It didn't jibe with how she carried herself but look we're all entitled to spew a bad word or to in the heat of a moment. Once I got past the vulgarity (sewer talk) it was a good read and a great lesson.

"A Night to Remember", is not exactly what I would have selected for myself. This book was a gift from a friend and it's not what I usually read. She calls herself trying to broaden my horizons...lol. This is the first novel I've read by Ms. Eve Vaughn, and I thought she did an amazing job with the character development, I found them to be quite memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the lead characters Charlie and Jake the attraction and desire between them was very intense. The secondary characters were also unforgettable and added extra spice to this tale. The storyline was well thought out and had an enjoyable flow.~~~~~~~The only thing I didn't like about this story was the explicit sex and the graphic language. It was TOO MUCH! I thought it took away from what could have been a very sweet, romantic and captivating tale. The love scenes came across as extremely pornographic, instead of heated and sensual. And the language was just "over-the-top", I mean dirty talk can be sexy at times, but this was just way too vulgar for me and it took some the enjoyment out of the story.~~~~~~~Having said all that, I still believe Ms. Vaughn to be a talented author, and very capable of writing a intensely, passionate tale. And despite what I felt were flaws, that being the explicit sex and graphic language, this novel was still a page-turner and at times moved me to tears.

Jake Fox & Charlie (Charlotte) Brown have a sweet and wild night of sex that turns out to be love a first sight. This was an extremely enjoyable read that I would recommend to all romance readers. I have it as an e-book that I pop open from time to time because it is just that good.

I would highly recommend this book. It is absolutely such a sweet story-I could hardly put it down as I enjoyed reading about the lives of the various women in this book. It makes you think about your own ancestry and what we might have in common with our grandmothers and great-grandmothers. It has great Christian themes-but is not too overbearing in that sense.

A book every woman should read.......2005-09-02

Eve's Daughter's is by far the best book I have ever read. It is touching and a very hard to put down. And by far it is the only book I have ever read that has made me cry.
Lynn Austin takes us on a journey starting in the late 1800's to 1980 and weaves together a story of 4 woman who share their life expereinces of love, acceptance, and forgivness.
I must say Emma and Patrick's story is what truly brought tears to my eyes. You could clearly see the love they have for each other but how they were trying to keep apart. Especially Emma, since she had to let the man she loved go free in order to pursue his dream.
Eve's Daughter's is a book any woman should read whether young or old. It's a tale which weaves together what womanhood is about and in order to gain true peace and acceptance we must first find forgiveness from Christ.
The book took me 5 days to read. It is pretty long...450+ pages my copy was and the print is fairly small. But the entire story was beautifully written and well worth the hours I spent reading it. Lynn Austin has now become my fav. author. I have read many of her other books before (this one being the latest) and I look forward to the books she will release in the future!

I have read three of Lynn Austin's book and thus far, this is my favorite. She has weaved together so many different characters into one story and knows who she's writing about intimately. She is an excellent author in that she tells a story with such truth, timeliness and emotion. Your heart will be able to relate to so much in this book. A must read!
