Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

5 out of 5 stars Very easy to understand Bible!.......2007-09-26

This Bible is amazing. It is very sleek and a reasonable size (the same as a standard Bible) considering that it includes both the NIV and The Message. I enjoy being able to read the NIV and then the message for great clarity.

5 out of 5 stars Loved It.......2007-08-10

This bible is very easy to use and it's just the right size. The two different texts are side by side making it easy to go from one version to the other. And it's also very stylish.

4 out of 5 stars Compact Parallel TNIV / MSG Remix BIBLE.......2007-06-16

The dimensions of the Bible are 5.75" x 8.25" x 1.25". I was looking for a Message Parallel Bible that was COMPACT and had a very hard time finding one. I would have prefered a NASB/MSG version compact, but as far as I searched, I found none. That said, this is a nice little Bible. The cover is obviously synthetic, but still has a nice feel to it. The "pool blue" is a fairly bright hue. The closure is a hidden magnet. I usually tuck the flap closue into the back cover (when doing so, there is no magnet or snap visible from the front). Both the MSG portion and TNIV portion are numbered by verse. I would guess the font is somewhere around 8-9 pt (but I'm not exactly sure). The page edges are gilded silver and look very nice with the brown and blue cover. Corners for the cover and the pages are slightly rounded to accomodate daily use. The Bible has a single, built-in, pale blue ribon marker. You might be able to find more information from the publisher Zondervan. This Bible does NOT have: maps, presentation/family history page, words of Christ in red.

Book Description

A psychopathic killer of university students is on the loose in Bologna. Rookie detective Grazia Negro is put in charge of this critical investigation, with only her gut instincts to guide her. She gets an unexpected breakthrough when she meets Simone, a young blind man who spends his days at home alone, listening to jazz and to the sounds of the city on his scanner. From the multiple perspectives of the detective, the blind man, and the assassin, Lucarelli weaves a gripping thriller.

Carlo Lucarelli, one of the most exciting young writers in Europe, has written eleven novels, all of them noirs. He also hosts a television series, teaches writing in Torino, sings in a post-punk band, and edits an on-line magazine, Incubatoio 16.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Metropolitan Bologna.......2005-07-02

Entangling and beautifully written, Lucarelli's mystery novel gives us a totally unexpected perspective on modern Italy. Touring through Bologna with Grazia Nero and the Iguana (guess who they are...) is a metropolitan experience, like it would be in Chicago or Manhattan. The underworld of the students' population, the young people's lifestyle, and the slightly feminist twirl in the end make "Almost Blue" the most interesting (at least to me) mystery story recently written.

2 out of 5 stars Simone is definitely blue, but the story is green........2004-06-18

The basic story is not remarkable. Young cop Grazia Negro is pursuing a serial killer of university students in Bologna. The male cops undersestimate her, and the bodies are piling up. What is remarkable about "Almost Blue" is that center of the story is Simone, a young blind man who navigates the world by smell and characterizes his experiences according to colors he has never seen. Green voices are bad. Blue voices are good. Simone spends his time in his room listening to the world on his scanners with jazz playing in the background. One night, Simone hears the "green" voice of a man who is a serial killer. Grazia finds her way to Simone and enlists his help in finding the killer. What happens after that is disappointing, not to say bizarre, from the perspective of crime fiction, but Simone is so interesting that he almost makes the book worth reading.

4 out of 5 stars A very well written psychological suspense novel.......2004-02-25

In Bologna, Italy, students are being killed by a serial killer- one who assumes the identity of the murdered person. Assigned to the case is Grazia Negro, a detective. Grazia uses a blind man, Simone Martini, who listens to the city on a scanner, to try to apprehend the killer. As usual the crimes become more personal where eventually Grazia, herself, becomes a possible target.
ALMOST BLUE is a very well written psychological suspense drama. It is quite unique in its structure. Chapters or actually sections alternate with point of view between the killer's, Simone's and Grazia. The chapters are quite short keeping the pacing rapid throughout. The length of the book is more that of a novella yet works perfectly for the drama portrayed. The end result is a chilling portrayal of the criminal mind.

5 out of 5 stars Lucarreili -Almost Blue is a modern day masterpiece.......2002-08-02

Lucareelli from the first chapther grabs the readers attention and doesn't let go to the chilling ending. It not only is exciting murder thriller but also offers insight into cultural aspects of Modern day Italy. A word of warning the novel isn't for the faint of heart. I still have trouble sleeping at night I keep waking imaging the killer is in my room.

5 out of 5 stars Distinctive prose style sets this one apart.......2002-05-06

I bought this after it had been featured on NPR, and found it a compelling and disturbing read. The way that the author alternates POV's is challenging. As you are reading, you are not often able to immediately determine who is speaking. Chapter trasition is inspired, as well. The violence is described in a manner that is spine-chilling without being repulsive. This is a great read for someone bored with the cookie cutter way thrillers are currently written. It is refreshingly short and well-paced.

Although gospel music has been a taproot for soul, jazz, and rock-and-roll, it remains a fairly insulated art, with its own venues, audience, and mythology. A good place to start investigating this revelatory music is Michael Harris's The Rise of the Gospel Blues: The Music of Thomas Andrew Dorsey in the Urban Church. Dorsey (1899-1993), the inventor of modern gospel, began playing the piano in small-town Georgia bordellos at the age of 12. As a young man he wrote more than 2,000 blues songs, including such naughty novelties as "Tight Like That." In the mid-1920s, however, Dorsey began producing a string of sacred-and-profane hybrids, many of which became building blocks of the gospel repertoire. Harris has written a smart, scholarly portrait of a musical giant who continued to perform right through the late 1980s--and who made his feature-film debut at age 84, in the delightful Say Amen, Somebody.

    Book Description

Most observers believe that gospel music has been sung in African-American churches since their organization in the late 1800s. Yet nothing could be further from the truth, as Michael W. Harris's history of gospel blues reveals. Tracing the rise of gospel blues as seen through the career of its founding figure, Thomas Andrew Dorsey, Harris tells the story of the most prominent person in the advent of gospel blues. Also known as "Georgia Tom," Dorsey had considerable success in the 1920s as a pianist, composer, and arranger for prominent blues singes including Ma Rainey. In the 1930s he became involved in Chicago's African-American, old-line Protestant churches, where his background in the blues greatly influenced his composing and singing. Following much controversy during the 1930s and the eventual overwhelming response that Dorsey's new form of music received, the gospel blues became a major force in African-American churches and religion. His more than 400 gospel songs and recent Grammy Award indicate that he is still today the most prolific composer/publisher in the movement. Delving into the life of the central figure of gospel blues, Harris illuminates not only the evolution of this popular musical form, but also the thought and social forces that forged the culture in which this music was shaped.

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Pocket Bible.......2007-01-03

I love this pocket bible. I've looked at many bibles this size and found the font size and style to be the most easy to read by far. Flipping through the pages and finding specific scripture is a breeze and fun compared to larger bibles. The cover is soft and flexible giving it a pleasant feeling in your hand. There is a small topical concordance that is helpful in finding encouraging scriptures. I like is so much I am buying another one to keep in my car at all times. There is no better pocket bible I have found so far. I hope you buy it and enjoy it as much as I do.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite NIV printing yet! --and I'm an adult!!!.......2004-07-20

This has got to be the perfect size for portability. The print is a tad small so if you don't like the print of pocket bibles I'd say look for another printing. The binding is pretty cool and feels good in the hand. I can easily hold open a passage with one hand. I think the inspiration for the binding comes from some hippy pants made in the late 60's but it still looks great. Wonderful job all 'round. My only gripe is that there isn't a concordance in the back -but then again, that's a normal condition for a "pocket bible". I'd grade it with an A-.

      5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book.......2007-01-04

How did those Italians DOMINATE international bridge play for over twelve years. First, they were great players of the game. Secondly, they invented and used the Blue Team Club system, and this book is a wonderful, clear exposition of how that system works and how to play it. One of my best partners and I used this book to play this system, without alteration, for two years off and on. It was a lot of fun, and very effective.
