Book Description
A haunted castle, a pair of international jewel thieves, and a hotel fire -- so begins Regan and Jack Reilly's honeymoon in Ireland . . .
Private Investigator Regan Reilly and her husband, Jack, head of the Major Case Squad in New York City, have just gotten hitched! They've headed to Hennessy Castle, a romantic spot in western Ireland -- seemingly the perfect place to escape the world and the criminals they deal with daily -- to begin their lives together. But Hennessy Castle is hardly relaxing!
Their first afternoon in Ireland, Regan and Jack go out for a jog, stopping at an old graveyard at the edge of town. The first tombstone they see is marked
REILLY. Turns out May Reilly, who died in 1822, was a talented lacemaker who made an exquisite tablecloth for a banquet at Hennessy Castle but was never paid. Legend has it that May has haunted the castle ever since.
Awakened in the middle of the night, Regan spots a mysterious woman on the back lawn of the castle. At the sound of Jack's voice, Regan turns her head for a moment. When she turns back, the woman is gone. A moment later, the hotel's fire alarm goes off.
In the ensuing melee, Regan and Jack meet a young American Irish couple, Sheila and Brian O'Shea, who have started a business selling Irish memorabilia -- but on this trip to Ireland their "business" is to pick up paintings they've commissioned from a superstitious amateur artist who doesn't realize the value of her work. The last thing these two online entrepreneurs want is for Regan and Jack to figure out what they're up to.
The following morning, May Reilly's famous tablecloth is discovered missing from the memorabilia room at the castle, and a note has been left for Jack by an elderly couple who checked out immediately after the fire. The "elderly" couple is, in fact, two international jewel thieves in disguise, who refer to themselves as "Jane and John Doe." Taunting Jack, who has been on their trail for more than a year, they claim responsibility for the theft of May Reilly's tablecloth, knowing full well that Jack won't be able to enjoy his honeymoon when he finds out they were right under his nose and may still be in Ireland.
With the help of Regan's Irish cousin -- Galway resident Gerard Reilly -- Regan and Jack hunt for the thieves who have eluded law enforcement for too long. Their search takes as many twists and turns as the winding country roads of the Emerald Isle, as they travel from tiny villages to the crowded pubs of Galway and back to Hennessy Castle -- where May Reilly is not resting in her grave!
Filled with Irish history and lore, and a cast of quirky characters on both sides of the Atlantic, Laced will take you on a journey that will keep you laughing, turning pages, and maybe even believing in ghosts!

quick and fun read.......2007-09-26
I really liked this book. It is a good light mystery.
I picked it up and didn't realize it was written by Carol rather than Mary. I will look for more books written by her.
Another Fun Read from the Queen of No Gore Mysteries.......2007-08-26
She is the best of the present day mystery/detective story writers. With her Regan Reilly series, Carol Higgins Clark's closest rival is Sue Grafton, but Ms. Clark's pacing, characterizations, and amusing situational and comedic effects are far better than those of Ms. Grafton's.
She harkens back to the writing style of Arthur Hailey who wrote such classics as "Airport" and "Hotel". Both introduce many characters who are followed sporadically throughout the plot sequence and events, culminating with a resolution involving all of the principals.
I've followed all of her Regan Reilly series from "Decked" to "Hitched" and have found them to be an entertaining reading divergence from the more weighty material that challenges my intellect. If you are looking for an evening or two of sheer ecapism, you could do no worse than delving into the most recent of Ms. Clark's book, "Laced", that spares you the sadistic mayhem found in most current writers of this genre.
Laced.......2007-08-15
Very disappointing. Ms. Clark's style of writing is immature and would make a great read for middle schoolers!
Definitely not in the same league as authors Alice Sebold or Sue Monck Kidd.
Don't waste your time or money - unless you read at a grade school level.
Nancy Drew Marries One Of the Hardy Boys.......2007-08-03
Another cookie cutter script. Easy read if you have to be mindless, like commuting to and from destinations.
Not bad.......2007-07-12
I read this book in 1 day. It's a fast and easy read! I did enjoy it; but I wish they would develop the character of Jack more and make him seem more like he is part of the team. I loved the fact that he and Regan got to work together more but if my parents showed up on my honeymoon....ARGH!

Customer Reviews:
Good to know we all have the same issues.......2007-08-01
Short stories that are well presented and represent a host of situations - so one (or more) of them should apply to everyone who's been married. Nice to help you keep perspective, lots of different writing styles. Good to read 1-2 stories at a time and process what they have to offer.
Straight Talk About Marriage.......2007-07-02
Love, marriage, divorce. For those of us who have loved or are still
loving, have been married or still married, been divorced or are going
through a divorce, we have our own love, marriage, and divorce stories
to tell. However, In The Honeymoon's Over, Chapman and Wofford-Grand
have carefully edited and compiled some of the best stories on these
three issues.
Reading each of these stories is like listening to your sisterfriend
while sipping coffee or tea. The authors are storytellers, telling
their stories in a very fluid and conversational style. Easy to read
and understand, these stories are well-written, emotional and very
revealing. You can almost feel their pain, cry their tears, and
rejoice in their decisions. After you have read these stories,
you can think about each author's perspective of love, herself,
relationships and her future. You may even think about which story
applies to you.
Although each story is distinctive in terms of the author, her story
and her writing style, the themes and the storytelling style unite
these stories into this unique book. At least one story will appeal
to every reader. The reader may be able to even identify with an
author or two. These women are sharing their stories, and
telling ours, too. I recommend reading this book.

The Honeymoon's Over.......2007-05-20
This was not what I thought it would be. Although, there were some interesting stories, I was somewhat dissapointed.
Great Book.......2007-04-10
This book is very well written. Definitely speaks volumes about relationships. But be ready to have the tissues on hand. :)
BRUTALLY HONEST.......2007-03-03
I absolutely loved this book, and I am keeping it becauseI know I will read it again. As I approach my 27th wedding anniversary I feel as though I know quite a bit about what makes a marriage worth hanging on to. Nobody is married for a long time without going through major bumps in the road but many of the stories in this collection illustrate how rewarding it is to stick it out - what you end up with is so special that it is difficult to describe. Of course, not every relationship has a happy ending and I enjoyed those essays also. My personal favorite? The Electric Husband - hilarious.
P.S. Terry McMillan's rage is hurting her MUCH, MUCH more than her ex-husband - anger is human but if you don't let go of it you will be poisoned by it.

Customer Reviews:
Just so so..................2007-10-06
Interesting main character, but somewhat predictable plot. Builds momentum, but the ending is amateurish. Hard to believe it took two authors to create this fast read. Patterson's Women's Murder Club and Alex Cross series are his best.
Not Too Impressed with this One.......2007-08-28
I've read many, many James Patterson books and have to say this one didn't do much for me. Yes, the first few pages were tantalizing, but didn't seem to realistically pan out at the end of the book. This book had considerable similarity to the movie, "Basic Instinct" (smart cop/agent falls for black widow killer) and, just as in that movie, I didn't care for either of the main characters in this book. Also, I was expecting some sort of revelation into Nora's motives (abusive father/husband, etc.), but never got that. Disappointing...
Quick Read.......2007-08-28
I read this book on vacation and it was quick paced and enjoyable. The plot was very unique and never boring. Usually books that are co-authored by Patterson are not as good as the ones only written by him. They are usually written in a rushed style but that was not the case with this one.
One of the best books I've read!.......2007-08-16
This was my first James Patterson book and now I'm hooked! I couldn't put this book down and had it read in a couple days, and I was on vacation! I'm now on my 5th Patterson book and Honeymoon is still #1. Great book!
AWESOME.......2007-08-12
OK, I liked the fact that patterson lives not to far from me, so I know the area he is talking about. Aside, from that, this was a really good book!
I have yet to read one of these books and felt like it dragged. Patterson books are fast reads and VERY entertaining!

Franz Wisner had the world by the tail. He was engaged to the beautiful Annie, with whom he shared a passion for conservative politics and a command of quotes from the movie This Is Spinal Tap. He worked as a government-relations official for a California real-estate giant, rubbing elbows with bigwig politicians. But then his fiancée dumped him days before their wedding, and his boss demoted him. So he dragged his younger brother, Kurt, a Seattle realtor and divorcé, to Costa Rica for his already-scheduled honeymoon, where Wisner spilled his guts to a prostitute in the hotel bar. ("Not once did it occur to me that I was having a heart-to-heart with a woman who faked orgasms for a living.")
Both inspired and desperate, the two quit their jobs, sold their houses, gave away their belongings, and traveled the world for two years, romping through Europe in a newly purchased Saab, then hitting the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa. Along the way, Wisner got to know his brother in a way he never had ("Kurt had become ... my new best friend") and fought to move past his failed relationship.
Wisner's story is straightforward, heartfelt, and highly readable--though without any true, biting insights--and should connect with readers who've gone through a breakup, career change, or midlife crisis, or fantasized about quitting the rat race. His best travel tip? Throw away the guidebooks, and talk to the locals instead. --Andy Boynton
Book Description
This is the true story of Franz Wisner, a man who thought he had it all- a high profile career and the fianceacute;e of his dreams- when suddenly, his life turned upside down. Just days before they were to be married, his fianceacute;e called off the wedding. Luckily, his large support network of family and friends wouldn't let him succumb to his misery. They decided Franz should have a wedding and a honeymoon anyway- there just wouldn't be a bride at the ceremony, and Franz' travel companion would be his brother, Kurt.During the "honeymoon," Franz reconnected with his brother and began to look at his life with newfound perspective. The brothers decided to leave their old lives behind them. They quit their jobs, sold all their possessions, and traveled around the world, visiting fifty-three countries for the next two years. In Honeymoon With My Brother, Franz recounts this remarkable journey, during which he turned his heartbreak into an opportunity to learn about himself, the world, and the brother he hardly knew.
Customer Reviews:
A great read!.......2007-09-17
I really enjoyed ths book. After stumbling across it in a book store, it was a pleasant surprise. I could empathize a lot with both characters. The book has me dreaming about my own trip around the world. Guess that's the beauty of books, if you can't go there. It's nice to read about someone else's adventures. Now bring on the movie and the next book!
A Must Read for all Brothers.......2007-08-28
If you have a brother, if you like to travel, or if you just enjoy good writing you must read Honeymoon with My Brother. The journey of Franz and Kurt is a comedy based off of a tragedy - getting dumped at the altar. The story is a serious story with life lessons and experiences that will change one forever with comedy entwined throughout. Essentially, this is a tragic comedy that is seriously funny. A must read. You won't regret it!
Surprisingly insightful and entertaining...it inspires Wonderlust!.......2007-08-28
Two rich pretty boys from the West Coast whining over a breakup and traveling the world...why would I even bother to read this? Curiosity? Sheer novelty? I love reading memoirs and honestly had that sterotype in mind when I picked up this book. Boy--was I wrong. Honeymoon With My Brother was an insightful and entertaining memoir. Franz Wisner handles his breakup with sensitivity and humility, and has the courage to follow through on the "take this job and shove it" mindset we all experience at one time or another. His journey around the world was captivating, plus his relationship with his brother, friends and strangers along the way, and the memorable LeRue, make this a worthwhile read.
Another travelogue.......2007-08-09
The book itself is your typical travelogue told by Wisner who has "found" himself while touring around the country for years. If you are looking for a light hearted easy read than this book is for you. It tries to offer his point of view on what he found and his interpretation of his surroundings.
Stops short........2007-06-28
I read this book every day and found it hard to put it down. I was a travel agent a long time ago so any book having to do with travel grabs me right away. I had to put the book down for a week because my daughter got sick. When I finally picked it up again to finally finish the long awaited last chapter of this great book, it ended as abruptly as the final episode of "The Sopranos". I reread the last chapter again, thinking I might have missed something, just like I did when I watched a rerun of the last Sopranos episode. Did I miss a chapter somewhere? I felt gypped. I wanted to know more about how the authors life resolved at the end. Instead, I feel like I was left hanging. Did Franz ever get married? Did he ever go back to Corporate American or did he and Kurt start their own company?? I want a sequal.

Book Description
A seductive con artiste stumbles into a scam that promises more cool cash than the lottery. A shot-gun toting mobile home salesman is about to close a deal with disaster, while tourists by the thousands bail from the Florida Keys. They are now entering the hurricane zone, where hell and hilarity rule. And in the hands of the masterful, merciless Carl Hiaasen, everyone is in for some stormy weather!
Customer Reviews:
What fun!.......2007-09-18
I seldom find a book, much less an author, that I can't put down. Carl's plots and wacky characters make for great, fun, light reading that barrels along it's crooked path. I've become a real fan and highly recommend if you have a demented sense of humor and justice.
Good but Not Really Funny.......2007-06-26
With everyone else raving about how funny this book was I bought it. I was not disappointed with the story, but it really wasn't all that humorous. Dave Barry has a much better feel for humor, especially in Florida. Still, I will read other Hiassen books. I will simply change my expectations to drama rather than humor. That's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5; false advertising.
Bestseller 1995 and entertaining........2007-05-05
As a hurricane hurtles through Florida, a handful of unusual people react in peculiar ways. Honeymooning Max Lamb eagerly videotapes the wreckage but is soon kidnapped by a reclusive ex-governor called Skink. Meanwhile two hustlers try to stage an insurance scam, and Max's new wife hunts for him with the help of a millionaire who juggles skulls. Book contains strong language, some violence, and some explicit descriptions of an adult nature. Even with all that, this is a humors tale with a strange sense of justice.
Classic Hiaasen.......2007-03-12
This is as classic as a novel by Carl Hiaasen can get. The plot is evolved during and after south Florida gets hit by a hurricane with all the characters, the twists and humor that you would expect from Hiaasen.
If you have not read one of his novels yet, I should note that Hiassen is an enviromentalist (who is a regular columnists for the Miami Herald) and and all his novels take place in Florida. Full of different (and sometimes extreme characters) and a unique humor/satire he is enjoyble to read. His novels are not exactly crime stories but rather about life in Florida that has a bit of everything.
Enjoy it.
Perfect Hiaasen: The comic morality tale........2006-12-05
I'm an environmentalist on the basis that I like clean air, water, etc., as opposed to being a watermelon environmentalist: green on the outside, communist red on the inside.
I like Carl Hiaasen's books because the environmental message isn't preachy. Instead, he simply writes hysterically funny stories about the assorted unfortunate (and self-inflicted) fates of people who show up make a quick buck on Florida, at the cost of Florida.
This book is a hilarious romp through post-Andrew South Florida. The bottom line is that hurricane's are nature's way of saying "Don't build here!" and people who move to South Florida to buy shoddily-constructed, never-inspected houses are simply getting what they deserve.
Of course, not everyone is a dupe or a huckster. There are some actual decent people in his books, and their sterling qualities are the perfect foil for the dupes and hucksters that constitute the rest of local humanity.
Hiaasen's genius is in his caricatures and how he plays them off against each other.
Great book.
Customer Reviews:
Decent Read.......2007-08-28
It's an interesting read, but it's definitely geared towards a specific demographic of brides. Any bride that hasn't lived as a single woman on her own for a good amount of time will find this book interesting but not extremely helpful. Still, the author is witty and the book is an easy read.
Tedious and biased.......2007-07-23
I hate to be the lone dissenter, but this book really didn't help me sort out my pre-wedding thoughts. A few months before my wedding, I began to feel somewhat nervous about leaving my single life behind and "becoming another person." I bought this book hoping that it would offer advice and some reassurance that my feelings were shared by other brides.
While it did indeed indicate that my sudden identity concerns were common, I found that most of Stark's advice was based on her own marriage, with a few tidbits thrown in from a few interviews she had done with several young brides--although most of it is common sense. I found myself often thinking that I was reading Stark's autobiography.
That said, it does have some good pointers and a few good stories that a lot of brides can relate to.
Great Book !.......2007-04-04
I am a 40ish bride-to-be and I learned a lot from this book. It's not only advice about weddings, etc., but a really deep look at some serious issues that arise in relationship. Thanks Marg.
Excellent advice and a must-read for newlyweds.......2006-10-24
Someone once said that "When the Wedding March fades and the cake is in crumbs, what you have left is a marriage." There are plenty of books out there for how to plan a wedding, but few to help on the morning after. This practical advice for beginning your marriage and surviving the transition to spouse is both entertaining AND informative. Would make a great gift for a newlywed, or good class reading for those in premarital counseling.
So Far So Good.......2006-07-04
I am about half way into the book and for the most part I am really finding it enjoyable and comforting. However, being a bride that has been living with her future husband for several years I find that some of the concepts do not pertain to me. Otherwise, highly reccommend the book for brides-to-be. It helps you realize you aren't the only one feeling this way!

DAYUM!!!!.......2007-09-18
This book was drama and action packed. If you haven't read anything by this man ---you are missing out on some great books. Anything that he puts pen to is GREAT.
No Way!!!!!!!.......2007-05-05
I'm so glad I didn't buy this book it was horrible. The characters were shallow and it just wasn't realistic at All!! Come on Mr. Johnson do better!!
Gotta love it...............2007-03-24
As always i enjoy all of K.L.J. books this a good read will pass the it on i'am reading little black girl lost3 now and i already know its the BOMB keep up the good work.
Good Read.......2007-03-24
Another entertaining book by this author. He keeps you wanting to read. I have now read all seven of this author's book and have yet to be dissapointed. I can't wait for book eight, Hell Has No Fury.
Dangerously in Love.......2007-03-14
I love her so much I am willing to kill us both, is what Nelson Kennard told his self when he walked in on his ex-fiancé and her new man. Not being able to take the rejection Nelson isn't sure if he is coming or going. One thing he does know is sorry is not good enough. Moving on with his life and becoming the self made millionaire that the beautiful Parris Stall's just couldn't wait for him to become takes Nelson thru one thing after the other.
This is another Keith Lee Johnson classic; I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

The one wedding planning book to own.......2007-08-07
I am often asked by brides: "what is the one book that I should buy to help me with my planning?" This is it!
A logical plan with a logical timeline and explanations galore!!.......2006-05-09
This book came in the mail today and I love it!! It breaks the wedding details down into very do-able steps. The book takes the overwhelming task of planning a wedding and explains it in small tasks, week by week, and makes your "wedding vision" seem easy to achieve. It's obvious that the author has "been there, done that" many times for brides. Also there is a list of wedding websites in the back of the book.
A terrific planning guide.......2006-04-18
"Countdown To Your Perfect Wedding" is both informative and easy to read. As an event designer, Joyce clearly has a passion for her craft, and she's also generous with information - in the spirit of an educator. Her thorough, well-organized approach - with a wealth of details - will eliminate misconceptions brides may have regarding planning their wedding. I was captivated by her description early in the book of an unusual asian wedding that she did. I only wish I had been able to photograph it.
Wendy Maclaurin Richardson

Great Countdown Counselor.......2006-03-12
If you wake up in a cold sweat and worry that you're going to forget something important, then this book is the antidote. In a well-written anecdotal style, the book presents practical steps readers can follow, and allows brides and grooms to gain confidence and make better decisions. The book's practical tips apply equally well to grand, formal affairs and to casual barefoot ceremonies on the beach.
In sharing her many years of experience, the author saves you time, and also saves you money and heartache by pointing out the key questions to ask of vendors and the pitfalls to avoid. The book pays for itself many times over.
I particularly liked the examples of real brides and real weddings, the latest trends, and the comprehensive resource guide at the end of the book. This book is so good, even other event planners recommend it!
Learn From The Best!.......2006-03-12
This book is the most important tool anyone could use to plan a wedding or event. The format makes the process makes it easier to understand the event process. Wedding planner guides group tasks in difficult monthly chunks, where Joyce provides weekly tasks making them easier to accomplish. Her expertise and advice is a valuable tool. She has planned many fabulous events throughout the county and has been very successful at it. Learn from the best!

What makes up the honeymoon of your dreams?.......2007-02-24
Walt Larimore is "one of America's best-known family physicians" and Susan Crockett is a "nationally recognized OB/GYN." Having counseled hundreds of couples preparing to be married, they've noticed that often these couples plan a wedding without planning for the 'after.' As Larimore and Crockett explain,"Our goal in writing this book is to introduce you to the divine design for marriage...In essence we want your honeymoon to be the launch pad for...a honeymoon that lasts a lifetime."
A helpful resource for every engaged couple, "Honeymoon" contains tips and advice about the preparation steps--with appendices that include a calendar to assist with medical planning, travel arrangements, and spiritual growth. Also included is a useful list of what to pack for a honeymoon, including appropriate medical documentation if the couple will be traveling in other countries.
"Remember the focus should not be on how exotic the destination is, how extravagant the vacation package...the focus should be on you as a couple, getting started on the right foot." Through exhaustive surveys and numerous counseling sessions, the authors provide real-life stories of those who have been there--planning weddings and honeymoons--and how they have learned from their experiences, both positive and negative. There are special 'bride only' and 'groom only' chapters that aim at relieving anxieties before the wedding night, from each perspective.
The authors stress the benefit of a pre-marriage relationship assessment, and also recommend finding a mentor-couple to learn from. Larimore and Crockett refer to this idea as "stay-married insurance."
Written with humor, experience, and medical expertise, this is an easy-to-read and valuable resource. I would recommend this book for all couples preparing for their wedding, to encourage them to prepare for "happily ever after." A great tool for pastors and counselors, this book also makes a perfect bridal shower gift.
Armchair Interviews says: Unique look at the honeymoon, and beyond.
Biblically practical.......2007-02-01
This book not only presents the Biblical basis for understanding what marriage is and how to enter into it; it also provides the necessary practical medical information engaged couples need to experience a truly passionate and intimate honeymoon. Graphic but never lurid or gratuitous, this book will be a welcome honeymoon companion for many new couples. It covers everything from travel tips, to birth control, to what to do to prevent and/or treat urinary tract infections, all against the backdrop of a thoughtful Biblical discussion of God's plan for your marriage and how to implement it. Highly recommended!
