Book Description
Readers haven't seen anything yet-new in the "fabulously imagined series" (Publishers Weekly) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author.
Anita Blake is about to face the challenge of her life. Into her world-a world already overflowing with power-have come creatures so feared that powerful, centuries-old vampires refuse to mention their names. It is forbidden to speak of The Harlequin unless you've been contacted. And to be contacted by The Harlequin is to be under sentence of death.
Long-time rivals for Anita's affections, Jean-Claude, Master Vampire of the City, and Richard, alpha-werewolf, will need to become allies. Shapeshifters Nathaniel and Micah will have to step up their support. And then there's Edward. In this situation, Anita knows that she needs to call the one man who has always been there for her...

Return to the Anita of old.......2007-10-06
Great story line with interesting crime investigation. still the the occasional steamy sex scenes. I am was a little worried after the most recent Anita offerings but I am once again eagerly awaiting the next novel.
Small differences don't equal a good book.......2007-09-24
I have been a long time reader of Anita Blake books. I honestly had given up on the series and had stopped reading them completely until I read the reviews on this website. So I checked it out of the library and here is my review..
1) Laurell K. Hamilton did manage to tone down the sex, although her blatantly obvious "scolding" scenes where she's obviously referencing fans that are upset with where the sex has gone, having Anita "justify" her sex life for "right-wing conservatives" (aka "the mean fans"). I happen to be a liberal myself, and I enjoy some steamy sex scenes in my books. It's when the sex becomes more than the plot that I have an issue with it. That is when she should stop labeling it at fantasy, and start labeling it as erotica. Having said that, she did a good job of toning it down in this book, but the fact that she slaps the fans on the wrist several times within the content that almost negates my good feelings toward her for doing it.
2) The book was filled with the same old arguments that have been repeated and repeated and repeated in the past five or six books, and it's getting old. I don't want to hear Richard whine anymore. I don't want to hear Anita whine about Richard anymore. I don't want to read the same argument that Anita and Richard seem to have every five pages. Pick a way that these two are heading and STICK WITH IT. I don't expect the relationship to be perfect, to have no arguing at all, but PLEASE stop fighting about the same thing over and over! Fight over something new, or HEY! Don't fight at all for an entire book. NOT fighting also happens in relationships too.
3) There are too many men. I'm not talking about Anita and her sex life here, she can have as many lovers as she wants. But Ms. Hamilton should realize that after awhile, this becomes confusing. Ratio-wise, she just gains more men and not less every book. I can't remember them all or who they are or where they came from or what part they play in the book. Ms. Hamilton just spends time re-explaining every bit player and it just takes up more useless space where some real plot should be going.
I honestly feel like this series should have ended five or six books back. It makes me sad when authors continue to chug out books simply because it's making money for them and not for the integrity of the story. It seems like Ms. Hamilton has good ideas for plot, but not as many as she used to and now she's filling in between the spaces of the sparse concepts she does have. She has made comments before on her blog about how fans should just stop reading her books if we don't like them. How about she just stops publishing them publicly and writes them for herself then? Because she makes money off of them, but feels that she shouldn't have to listen to fans that pay her bills. Well, that's also the case with the story. It's been drawn out too long, and it's diluting what should have been intensely and purposefully ended a few books ago, with the strong ending it deserves.
anita blake is at it again.......2007-09-22
what do you say about a writer who you can't wait until the next book comes out. it was excellent. i always recommend laurell hamiltons books
reason to hope.......2007-09-21
I've been reading the Anita Blake series for years. It was the original confident and self-sufficient Anita who had me loving these books. She knew what she wanted and what she was about, and she went after it. I know that people/characters evolve. Stories stagnate if no one ever changes. Her changes, however, turned her into a shadow of her former self, and it was painful to see this persist over the course of several books. I was ready to throw in the towel and write Anita off. The last book that I truly enjoyed was book 9, Obsidian Butterfly, which also happened to feature another of my favorite characters, Edward. I slogged my way through the next 5, hoping to see Anita find her way out of her circle of self-doubt and endless sex. This book took a turn for the better. The plot was tighter and there was less of an emphasis on Anita needing sex to feed the ardeur. She's still agonizing over Richard though. UGH! Hamilton is at her best when she's crafting action scenes that have Anita tackling bad guys coming at her from all sides, and there was some good action in this one. The Harlequin will not rank among my favorites in the series, but it gives me hope. I'm not going to give up on Anita or LKH yet.
Back to an actual story...mostly.......2007-09-20
Finally, an Anita Blake novel with 15 chapters before actual sex! Of course, a lot of those 15 deal with talking about sex, but there does seem to be an actual story this time. After the last few I waited until now to get the book to see what other readers had to say...and for the most part I agree - the story is better and the sex less frequent and graphic. She's almost like the old Anita we knew and missed. Here's hoping for the future.

Be "changed".......2007-08-08
Zach Hunter's youthful writing style brings home a very real and timely point to all. Is does not take "Age" to make a difference in this world, only passion and a committment to see your vision through to the end.
Zach's book speaks to adults as well as teens. So far I have purchased, read and given away three copies of this book, including one to my 12 year old daughter. Every person I have spoken to about this book has been impressed, and many have gone on to buy a copy for themselves and/or their own teenager.
This is a great selection for a teen or adult book study group.
A powerful message for our generation.......2007-06-14
As teen myself, with a heart to challenge my generation to excellence, Zach Hunter is a warmly-welcomed voice of vision, maturity, and biblical truth. His book speaks to his peers right where they are, and inspires them higher.
To the previous reviewer: Zach has demonstrated the ability to work with others to accomplish social good without compromising the convictions that motivate him to act. That is to be commended, not criticized.
Great concept, but too preachy.......2007-06-04
When I first heard of Zach Hunter and sought out this book, I was very impressed by his cause and ambition. That remains unchanged after reading. He truely is a great role model for the up and coming generations. However, I was discouraged to find so much reference to religion, god's plan, and passages of scripture throughout the book. I understand this is where Zach must get his strength and values, however he needs to make it clear that even an athiest can be passionate for social justice. He should just stick to the historical and sociological implications of slavery, rather than try to convince the reader what a "true christian" he is.
Zach is my new hero.......2007-03-16
Never has such a bold message flowed with such simple power. Zach will change your life but more importantly it will change the lives of the hundreds of thousands of slaves living in despair. This is an easy-to-read and easy-to-live message filled with quotes, testimonies, and straight up wisdom from 15year old. Zach is one of my new heroes.
Porpoise Diving Life March Book Review.......2007-03-13
[...]
Staying true to our March 2007 PDL theme ([...]), I think it's safe to say that this young man has laid down his net and is moving headlong into some pretty powerful "follower-ship." Just in case you were wondering, Zach wants to end slavery and human trafficking in his lifetime. He's making a huge difference by creating awareness of a very dire crisis in our world, speaking before thousands of people and simply stepping up to the plate to do his part.
Zach's book is a very engaging and educational read, though it always feels true to the style of a normal 15-year-old. Yes, it's geared toward a younger generation, but the beauty of his writing style is that any normal kid his age (or any adult, for that matter) will see himself/herself as a potential agent of change. Because he's not lofty in his approach, what he's done comes off as doable for the rest of us too.
If you have kids, you'll want to buy this book--if only so that Zach can be an inspiration to them. And maybe in the process, we'll have more kids like him springing up to embrace a hurt world (I think everyone would agree that this would be a good thing). Even if you don't have kids, buy this book and you might be surprised to find his passion is contagious enough for you to change the world, too.
Book Description
** COMPLETELY UNAUTHORIZED **
Speculating about the cultural metaphors in Janet Evanovich's wildly popular mystery series (which includes 11 books, from One for the Money to Eleven on Top), this anthology takes a look at lingerie-buyer-turned-bounty-hunter Stephanie Plum and catalogs her bad luck with cars (she's blown up quite a few), her good luck with men, her unorthodox approach to weapon storage, and the rich tapestry of her milieu: Trenton, New Jersey, also known as The Burg. The contributors praise the way the series smartly spoofs that familiar chick-lit epiphany—I have a bad job and what I really want is a good man!—in "Bounty Hunting as a Metaphor for Dating," "Why Stephanie Should Quit Her Job . . . but Never Will," and "Nothing Better than a Bad Boy Gone Good." Several essays veer from the chick-lit perspective and focus instead on the comic theme of luck and chance that ties Stephanie to the barroom gamblers and gangster meanies of her home town in "Luck of the Italian?: Skill Versus Chance."

"Plum" seriew.......2007-09-02
I love the Stephanie Plum series of novels. I really hate reading so I purchase them both in audio for me and paperback for houseguests and friends. I'm drawn in with the excitment and adventure of the story that Janet seems to capture in every novel. It has twists, turns, Lula, mystery, wonder, and of course two very "HOT" men! Who wouldn't want a mix of both men. :} I would recommend the "Plum" series, her "Full" series, as well as her earlier novels of mixed titles. They're all great fun and keep you as a reader at the edge of your seat waiting to see if a cars going to get blown up, who's died this week, who attends the pot roast dinner, who she sleeps with next, what will burn down next, and will she get her man (love or bounty). I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. I look forward to #14 in the "Plum" series, the next "Full" novel, and the new novel Janet recently wrote with a new author being released this October. Thank you!
Miserable waste of money.......2007-08-29
Sorry I bought it. NOt worth the time to read. Even an unauthorised biograpy should have some consistency, some value not author conjecture. I know the lady is a character but this author didn't seem to be able to follow even an elementary line of thought as to how she got to be who she is. My opinion but I'm sticking to it
Toatal Waste of Time and Money.......2007-08-24
This book was a total waste of time and money. It was really just a rip off on information that could be gotten from almost any Stephanie Plum books written by Janet Evanovich.
PERFECTLY PLUM.......2007-08-21
LOUSY BOOK. UNAUTHOURIZED AT THAT. EVANOVICH OUGHT TO SUE THEM. BUNCH OF WANNABE'S SITTING AROUND TRYING TO DISECT EVANOVICH & PLUM. NOTHING TO BE GLEANED HERE. SAVE YOUR MONEY. BETTER YET...BUY MY COPY. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Not what I expected.......2007-08-08
I don't know what I expected but I love the Stephanie Plum series. I have started this book 3 times at various essays and it hasn't held my interest yet. If anything changes I'll change my review.

The closer a secret is kept, the more powerful the impact once it is finally revealed. Such is the case with author and activist J.L. King's intriguing look at the lives and lifestyles of black men who sleep with other men but do not consider themselves to be gay. These men live "on the down low," the "DL" for short, and their sexual activities have gained significant notice as the rate of HIV/AIDS infection in black women has skyrocketed, with the vast majority of cases coming from heterosexual sex. King is a veteran of the DL himself and his book serves partly as a social and psychological survey of the other men he has surveyed and partly as highly candid memoir. King was well regarded in his community, popular at his church, successful in his career, and married to a woman who had no idea that his secret life existed. But when she caught him in a lie and with another man, the marriage collapsed and King's long and painful path to self-awareness began. King cites the negative image many socially conservative black men have of homosexuality as an obstacle to those men being honest with their partners and themselves about who they are. Among the more intriguing elements of On the Down Low are the peculiar approaches men on the DL have to the sexual act, seeking a strictly physical sexual relationship with their secret male partners while remaining in more traditional arrangements with women. Whether this discrepancy is a product of scrupulously guarded secrecy and shame or the natural preference of an understudied sexual identity is one of the numerous questions raised by this book. Though the infection statistics make the DL a huge public health issue, King is neither a sociologist nor a medical professional. And while a more clinical look at this issue would be welcome, King accomplished what he set out to do: provide light and insight into a world that so many have worked so hard to keep in the shadows. --John Moe
Book Description
A bold exposé of the controversial secret that has potentially dire consequences in many African American communities
Delivering the first frank and thorough investigation of life “on the down low” (the DL), J. L. King exposes a closeted culture of sex between black men who lead “straight” lives. King explores his own past as a DL man, and the path that led him to let go of the lies and bring forth a message that can promote emotional healing and open discussions about relationships, sex, sexuality, and health in the black community.
Providing a long-overdue wake-up call, J. L. King bravely puts the spotlight on a topic that has until now remained dangerously taboo. Drawn from hundreds of interviews, statistics, and the author’s firsthand knowledge of DL behavior, On the Down Low reveals the warning signs African American women need to know. King also discusses the potential health consequences of having unprotected sex, as African American women represent an alarming 64 percent of new HIV infections. Volatile yet vital, On the Down Low is sure to be one of the most talked-about books of the year.
“A survey by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta found that nearly a quarter of black HIV-positive men who had sex with men consider themselves heterosexual.”

EYE OPENER .......2007-09-30
I don't condone this lifestyle, but it is still going to exist, rather I like it or not. I am a happily married woman, but God forbid if something happens to my husband and I have to go back out here on the dating scene again. Thanks to J.L Kings book I will not be so easy to fall for men without investigating them first and picking up on signs. Even if I never have to worry about dating again , I can defintely educate my kids (both girls) about this topic. Don't try to keep topics like this from your kids thinking it wont affect them, because better you tell them, than they find out in a negative way and end up with Aids!
all you closet fags should read this.......2007-09-18
my dad was bisexual so I was hip to this lifestyle from the time I was born so I can relate to this yeah this lifestyle has been around for centuries some of the greatest men in history and literature are homo or bi such as hercules, julius caesar, alexander the great, king herod, pharaoh, achilles, zeus, elton john, david bowie yes homosexuality runs deep lots of entetatiners are on the downlow we know mase is bi so is puffy, missy elliot, da brat, beyonce, camron, kanye west, and plenty others tyra banks and plenty more don't worry everything will come out in the light already thwere are signs that these entertainers are closet homo's.
The Urban Book Source.......2007-08-13
J.L. King hit the head on the nail with his freshman novel. Although down low brothers is nothing new to our community, they have never been talked about in as open a manner as this. On the Down Low lets you crawl into the life of a creeping man and witness the lies, deception and risk that are involved with such a lifestyle. In a deeply rooted homophobic community, many will shun this book. I applaud Mr. King's efforts. With HIV and AIDS running rampant in our community and DL brothers playing a role in an outrageous rate of infection for young black women, I think this book is more than worth the read. Although this text is heavily based on Mr. Kings own experience and some have complained about the quality of writing, I say give this book a chance. Don't focus on the writing, focus on the facts!
1. What did you like best about this book?
I liked that the author took a risk and exposed a topic that was rarely discussed in the open before this book.
2. What did you dislike about this book?
I didn't like that the main basis of this book surrounded the author's personal life. I feel that left air for the material to be biased and questionable.
3. How can the author improve this book?
I think Mr. King should try to tighten and reign in his writing style.
Unsure of Message He's Giving.......2007-07-17
I liked the book. I'm a guy and I was interested in knowing more about being on the DL. But I don't know exactly what the message J.L. King was trying to give. He didn't tell men NOT to be on the DL, he did warn females about them. I guess he just was the messenger. I don't think it will change any black male from having sex with another man if he wants to. It's not going to bring honesty. I can't imagine any male confessing prior to or before doing this. All women cannot insist that their men put on a condom before sex. So-things will probably remain the same. Bottom line???.... Know your partner and be prepared to accept the consequence if you come up HIV+. When I was young they called VD "the gift that keeps on giving", but AIDS is not a gift. We need better morals but people don't seem to want that either.
On the Down Low.......2007-05-14
This was a very, very good read. It is not scary it is Real.
Book Description
Harmony is a planet in the far future, aglow with an amber light and the psychic energy of its inhabitants. It is here that Jayne Castle casts her spell-over the men and women brave enough to love in a world unlike any we have ever seen before. In this unforgettable volume are two very enchanting tales set on Harmony...
After Dark...The New York Times bestselling novel of romantic suspense with a paranormal twist. A para-archaeologist and one of the most dangerous men on the planet heat up a murder investigation with a passion that cannot be extinguished-or denied...
Bridal Jitters...From the national bestselling anthology, Charmed. An official marriage-of-convenience between paranormal business partners is almost called off-because of love.
"Jayne Castle, one of the pioneers of the futuristic sub-genre, continues to set the standard against which all other such books are judged." (Affaire de Coeur)
"Writing under Jayne Castle, Jayne Ann Krentz takes her trademark combination of witty, upbeat action, lively sensuality, and appealing characters to [a] unique, synergistic world." (Library Journal)
Customer Reviews:
excellant combination.......2007-09-04
This is actually the novel "After Dark" with the novella "Bridal Jitters" included. Great stories set on Harmony but not new. "After Glow", "Ghost Hunter", and now "Silver Master" are also set on this world and are all some of her very best writing.
Another World.......2007-02-17
A life in a different world. Mysterious and intreging along with a romantic twist. I was kept wpondering what would happen all through the book. Looking forward to reading other books in in same group.
Harmony.......2006-07-03
Is a reprint of two previous novels, "After Dark" and "Bridal Jitters."
Both were cute. I liked After Dark with Lydia and Emmett although I was disappointed that it followed basically the same premiss as some of ther other Harmony novels in that the two characters end up living together in a small apartment.
Not a reprint of Amaryllis or Zinnia.......2004-03-03
While this book is a reprint of two former excellent works by Jayne Ann Krentz (writing as Jayne Castle) it is NOT Amaryllis or Zinnia. Those two books are set on the fictional planet of St. Helens in the city-state of New Seattle and are part of a trilogy ending with Orchid.
After Dark, the first in the Harmony duo, is the first story in a new series about para-archaeologist Lydia Smith and her mate Emmett London. The second in this series is the newly printed After Glow another excellent futuristic by Castle.
These stories are set on another planet named Harmony.
I recommend these stories highly... if nothing else, read the stories to meet Fuzz :o)
Bridal Jitters is from the former Charmed Anthology... it is also based on Harmony Planet, but is not part of the Lydia Smith series.
An excellent read!.......2003-01-01
Both stories in this book are two of my favorites. After Dark made me fall in love with futuristic romances. I've read it twice and can't get enough!!!

Book Description
Award-winning author Jillian Hunter spins a captivating new tale of sweet mystery, reckless temptation, and scandalous desire.
Adrian Ruxley may be a ruggedly charming rogue, but he’s not a man to stand idly by while a lady is accosted–even at a wedding organized by the lady herself, Emma Boscastle, instructress in the social graces at her London academy for young gentlewomen. Adrian confronts the offender, a scuffle ensues, and now this smooth-talking heir is left to recuperate under Emma’s very roof, delighted to see the deep concern in her lovely face. She has a charm no scoundrel can resist.
Emma is scandalized by her own behavior–seduced by a handsome stranger, indeed! How will she be able to hide her indiscretion from the perceptive Boscastle siblings? The divine passion that Adrian has unleashed, and the sensual delights he has shown her, have suddenly turned Emma’s days at the fledgling academy into a display of impropriety and her nights into a velvet abyss of sensual abandon. But as their intimacy reveals Adrian’s turbulent secrets, Emma is inspired to her most ambitious endeavor: redeeming a rake.
Don’t miss these deliciously sexy historical romances in the Boscastle series:

THE WICKED GAMES OF A GENTLEMAN
THE SINFUL NIGHTS OF A NOBLEMAN

Disappointing ending to a series.......2007-09-10
I was looking forward to this book having met Adrian during Chloe's story and, of course, Emma from all of the stories. Hardly any time was devoted to the relationship between Emma and Adrian - the focus was all over the board with interesting plot lines introduced and not going anywhere and a lot of things remained unresolved - did Julia have her baby? Did Chloe ever conceive again? What's up with Harriet and her past? Gabriel? he was starting to get very interesting. Why spend so much time on other characters when Adrian and Emma had so much potential? They spent most of the book apart and other than initial attraction, what else was there? All of the other books in this series were a lot of fun - the relationships well developed; this one was just a huge let down.
Fluffy, cute, sweet and I liked it!!!.......2007-09-05
I love the Boscastle series and although this wasn't the best I really enjoyed it.
Lacking a lot of the depth of the other books, but I really fell in love with Adrian and Emma. They were exactly what each other needed.
Yes, I do wish the characters had been more developed, but it was still a good read.
"If you're a fan of Jo Beverly, Jillian Hunter writes in the same genre!".......2007-09-03
If you are a fan of authoress, Jo Beverly, who writes about members of "The Malloren Family" in a series of historical romances, you'll be delighted with Jillian Hunter's 7th book in her series about the scandalous "Boscastle Family" entitled 'Devilish Pleasures of a Duke'!
In Hunter's 7th book about "The Boscastle family, we meet again, the eldest daughter of The Marquess of Sedgecroft.
Emma Boscastle, oldest of her six siblings, is a shining example of a dutiful daughter. Emma married in her debut year, a Scottish Viscount selected for her by her parent's.. In this arranged marriage to an older man she hardly knew, she learned to respect her husband and fulfilled her responsibilites as Viscountess admirably.
She also became,by default, an example of rigid propriety to her siblings by becoming reasonably happy in her childless marriage. When she became a widow, shortly after her marriage, she then opened a School of Etiquette for young girls in Scotland. From there, she became an avid letter writer between her siblings and friends in London. From afar, Emma learned to be self sufficient and did not hesitate to prose on about the deficiencies of her sibling's scandalous behavior.
Through the first six books of this series, Emma pops up, when needed, as a shining example of moral rectitude to her siblings. Her brother, Grayson Boscastle, becomes Marquess of Sedgecroft, upon the sudden death of their parent's. Grayson takes his role as new patriarch of the family very seriously. He convinces Emma to move to London to reopen her School of Etiquette there. Emma is content in her role as Matriarch of the Boscastle Family until her brother marries in "The Seduction of an English Scoundrel". When Emma loses her lease on her school building, she moves in with her brother, Heath, and his new bride, Julia, in their luxurious London mansion.
It is at this point, Emma's story begins in a rollicking misadventure at the marriage of one of her student's which Emma is hosting. During the first meeting between Emma and Adrian Ruxley, a soldier of fortune, sparks fly! From there, the story evolves into a series of romantic encounters between Emma and Adrian, which Emma tries to hide from her siblings. After listening to her moralizing about all their scandalous behavior in the prior books, her siblings can't wait for a little payback when they scent the makings of a juicy scandal involving the "Perfect" sister!
This book is a delight! Meeting familiar characters in this book made me feel like I had come back home! Enjoy!
Boscastle Family, book 6.......2007-09-03
The Devilish Pleasures of a Duke by Jillian Hunter is the story of Emma (oldest daughter). Emma always tried to protect her family and now they can repay the favor. Emma finds herself falling for Abrian Ruxley "the wolf". The women in her family try to help foster the romance where her brothers follow her EVERYWHERE. Some great funny and romanctic moments. I loved this book - I could not put it down !!!

Sample Platter.......2007-08-18
I've been on the prowl for a new author/series to get hooked into. After reading other novels by two of these authors, I bought this sampler to compare them and discover two more to see what series I wanted to purchase. After reading these and other novels by these women, I must say this book is an excellent spread of their work. The themes, characters, language, and plot movements all mirror those these ladies use in their full novels. While these were all sadly short, I have to say this was the BEST way possible to get a feel for which author you will like and want to read. You can trust that their short story conventions will hold true in their novels. Don't like the character development in this novela, then you won't like it in the real deal. Love the humor of Kurland (which I do), then buy more of her work. You won't be dissapointed by this sampler. Do watch out going from story to story too fast. There are some similar names that took me a second to adapt to as the stories are all quite different.
teaser.......2007-05-31
I bought this book because I am a big keyon & moning fan! the stories they wrote in here were good but i was so bummed because they were soooo short.
Super, Do Not Miss This One.......2006-09-14
There are four short stories in this one book and they are all great. I considered a five star rating but one of the stories was not quite up to par so I kept it at a four.
1st Lynn Kurland-To Kiss in the Shadows-this is the story of Jason of Artane. He is rumored to dable in the dark arts because he fostered for the mysterious Christopher of Blackmoor. He meets and falls in love with Lianna of Grasleigh. Her once beautiful face is marked by the pox scars and the other ladies at court treat her cruelly because of it. When they become jealous of her friendship with handsome sought after Kendrick of Artane, they poison and almost kill her. Jason tends her and brings her back to health and then begins his plea to the king for her hand in marriage. This is a great story of loving someone for who they are on the inside, Even Lianna has to learn that lesson.
Madeline Hunter's-An Interrupted Tapestry-This one was okay but a little disappointing. Giselle goes to Andreas when her brother Reginald is kidnapped. Reginald has left debts all over town and left Giselle facing the creditors. Andreas was once their good friend but for some unknown reason to Giselle abruptly stopped coming around a couple of years ago. Andreas a wealthy tradesman knows it would be good to marry wisely to increase his trade. However, he cannot forget the feelings he has always had for Giselle. It is revealed that Reginald once offered Giselle to Andreas as a leman if he would help them financially. When Reginald is finally rescued by raising the money through the sale of a tapestry, Giselle must decide if she is willing to love Andreas without being able to marry him. Reginald must decide if he will marry for love or trade.
Sherrilyn Kenyon's- Dragonswan-This is one of the better two stories. It is a toss up whether it or the last story is the best. Sebastian is of a mythical Drakos race (human with dragon traits) who comes to modern times to recover a tapestry that is needed to rescue his brother. He meets Channon and is instantly attracted. They make love and he discovers he is mated to her. When a Drakos is mated, they are only allowed to love and have a family with that mate, otherwise they are doomed to life of celibacy. Sebastian must take Channon back to his times pre-medievil to protect her. Sebastian knows he should let Channon decide if she wants to stay herself, he will not use his powers to sway her. When Sebastian is injured protecting Channon she must decide whether she will bond with him to save him or return to her old life.
Karen Marie Moning-Into the Dreaming-I think this has to be my favorite of the four. IF you like Karen Marie Moning, you will like this one. Aeden MacKinnon makes a pledge to a dark faery to be his prisoner for five years to spare his family from the faery's wrath. What he doesn't know is five years in faery time is five hundred years. Most mortals lose their minds during that amount of time and the evil faery king uses him for evil plots during that time. At the end of his sentence, he is given one month to love and be loved or he will forever be bound to the evil king. The problem is he thinks he is someone named Vengeance and doesn't remember his true self. The faery king suggests to him not to get close to people or things in hopes of keeping him a slave. The good faery queen sends Jane to Aeden in his dreams to give him a chance to learn to love. At the end of his sentence she sends Jane to him in reality to help him remember. Jane knows Aeden from her dreams and hopes for a real life love. Aeden doesn't not remember anything of being human, love, food, the ways of people. He is confused by Jane and doesn't know why she calls him Aeden. He is drawn by her but afraid to disobey his king. Then he remembers, the king made suggestions but did not give orders. The clock races towards his one month while he learns to love. This is great and very sensual and sometimes humorous.
An enchanting read..........2006-05-11
Tapestry is an anthology of medieval romances by four well-known authors. The theme throughout these stories is a tapestry woven of enduring love and bold, beautiful women.
To Kiss in the Shadows by Lynn Kurland:
Lianna belonged to King Henry who would soon wed her and her lands to a man who would not mind her pox-scarred face. As a wealthy ward of the king, she spends her time weaving a tapestry in the women's solar, unmindful of the other women's snide remarks and cruel pranks.
Jason of Artane is a knight with plans to travel to France until he meets the mysterious Lianna. Known as the Dragon's man, he inspires terror wherever he goes, but Lianna does not seem to fear him. He is smitten by her courage and inner light. Will she see him for the man he really is?
Jason has his sights set on Lianna, but he must persuade the king to wed her and her vast wealth to a third son. Lianna cannot understand why the handsome Jason of Artane would want her as his wife. How could any man love her?
This tender story warmed my heart. True love comes from the heart and the connection between Jason and Lianna is nothing less. Brotherly banter between Jason and his older brother Kendrick lends humor to the story, making it an entertaining read by a very talented author. Despite the difficulty I had understanding some of the courtly dialogue, I feel it was necessary in creating the medieval atmosphere for this story.
An Interrupted Tapestry by Madeline Hunter:
Giselle is desperate to save her irresponsible brother who has debts all over London, but the only thing she has left to sell is her virtue. She swallows her pride and seeks help from her old friend, Andreas.
Andreas has plans to join his house-Hanse-with that of Venice, which would form a trading network more powerful than ever known. This would require that he marry the daughter of Signore Alberti. The only problem is old feelings for Giselle have surfaced and he cannot get the lovely vision of her red hair gleaming in the sunlight while she plays beautiful music on her lute.
Years ago, Andreas abruptly left London, ending his friendship with Giselle's brother to preserve her honor and dignity. Giselle is unaware of the circumstances of his quick departure and still harbors some anger at Andreas. Giselle is left to deal with her brother's angry creditors and with no one else to turn to, she calls on Andreas for help. When they meet after years apart, old feelings of desire resurface, but Andreas is about to commit to a marriage to a powerful merchant's daughter. Since Andreas already owns her beloved tapestry, Giselle is willing to sell him her virtue to clear up the debts, but will she lose her heart in the process?
This was a nice story about enduring love. The tenderness that Andreas shows for Giselle is endearing. He is a true knight coming to her rescue. Giselle is a true damsel in distress, but she struggles to hang onto her pride with the fierceness of a true warrior.
Dragonswan by Sherrilyn Kenyon:
Dr. Channon MacRae is a history professor at the University of Virginia, specializing in pre-Norman Britain. She is an average looking woman and she wonders why such a handsome man like Sebastian would have any interest in her. She is studying a dragon tapestry-the famous Dragon Tapestry that no one has been able to interpret.
Sebastian Kattalakis is handsome with long black hair and greenish-gold penetrating eyes. He also has an unusual tattoo that spirals from his hairline to his chin like an ancient symbol. Sebastian is a four hundred year-old Sentinel of the Drakos clan and can shapeshift into a dragon. He cannot understand why he is drawn to Channon, but something about her stirs the beast within him.
Sebastian visits the future to steal the Dragon Tapestry so he can save his brother back in Saxon England. He decides to spend one night with Channon. What he does not expect is to be mated with Channon, which means he cannot leave her and has to take her back to Saxon England with him, putting her life in danger. As a banished Prince of Arcadia, he has many enemies because the Arcadians (who like Sebastian have human hearts) and the Katagaria (who have animal hearts) are at war. When Sebastian is severely injured by a blade covered in Dragon's Bane, it is up to Channon to save him. But to save him she was commit to be his mate for life and the conditions that go with being an Arcadian mate.
The mythology behind the Arcadians was rich in detail and interesting, combining Greek myths with dragon lore. This tender romance tells the story of two soul mates that find each other despite all odds.
Into the Dreaming by Karen Marie Moning:
Aedan MacKinnon is a descendent of the Scottish king, Kenneth McAlpin with a home on the Isle of Skye at Dun Haakon in 928. To save the lives of his clansmen, he agrees to spend five years in the Unseelie Court of darkness and ice, only to discover he has been tricked-five years in the Faery realm is really five hundred years. In the end only a woman's love can save him, but who will love him after his humanity is stolen from him?
Jane Sillee lives in present day Indiana and works at a coffee shop, but hopes to be a published writer someday. Since she was a little girl, she has dreamed of a dark haired Highlander. In her dreams, they are lovers.
The only one who can help Aedan is the Queen of the Seelie Court of Light. After his five hundred years of imprisonment, he will be allowed to spend one month at Dun Haakon. During that time if he loves and is loved in return, he will be freed. If not, he will have to serve the Unseelie king as the new Hand of Vengeance until the king chooses to replace him-then he will die. The Queen weaves a tapestry with magic to bring Aedan and Jane together in their dreams to prepare for the day when they will meet in 1428. After centuries of torment, Aedan does not remember Jane or who he is. Can Jane melt the ice around his heart and help him remember?
Ms. Moning has crafted an enchanting story filled with timeless romance and faery lore. Her words are truly magical.
Tapestry weaves stories of enduring romance, gallant heroes and heroines who have strong wills and a tender touch for the men of their dreams. Though all of the stories were done well, my favorite stories were To Kiss in the Shadows and Into the Dreaming for the charismatic prose, which shined like the full moon floating among a sea of stars.
Thank God For Moning.......2006-03-20
I bought this anthology because many people I know are VERY into Sherrilyn Kenyon, and they've all insisted before that Kenyon's stories are well worth the money. I've read the synopsis of many of her books, and I just hadn't been interested. To be honest, I'm not all that hip on Vampire novels. But "Dragonswan" seemed to get rave reviews here on Amazon, it wasn't a vampire novel, and I thought because it was smaller and there were other authors in this anthology, I might be able to ease my way into reading some Kenyon.
Unfortunately, I was wrong. This is really not the book a first time Kenyon reader should be reading, apparently, because I was decidedly unimpressed. I'm really not seeing the appeal. Nor did I see the appeal of Kurland or Hunter.
I'll admit it....I've got a short attention span. Or, maybe it's adult ADD. But whatever it is, I've really got to feel a connection to a story in a hurry, or I find myself starting to skim and flip through instead of reading. From the beginning, with Kurland's story, I felt I'd come in right in the middle of something (which I did, seeing as how I've never read any of her other stuff and this was apparently an extension of another series?). That made reading the story a bit awkward. I finished it, but I had this odd feeling of incompleteness with it.
Hunter's story just didn't grab me at all. I really wanted to like it. I tried very hard to stick with it and like it. But by the middle, I was just bored with it and had to move on.
Kenyon's story was much the same as Hunter's. I tried to like it. I tried to stick with it. But even more than with Hunters, I found myself really bored, and wanting to skim rather than read. After almost a week of picking it up, reading a few lines then putting it down again, I finally had to move on with that one as well.
I will say here that I am a big Moning fan. And for me, that's what saved this book. I was interested from the beginning. Once I started reading it, I finished in a few hours. Not sure what it is about Monings style that I like, but for me, she's very easy and enjoyable to read.
So, I gave this one a 3, mostly based on Moning's story, as the others were just too hard for me to get into.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent book!.......2007-01-09
I had therapeutic results just reading the book. Bert Hellinger reveals Truths that make a shift in one's heart that effects how we react to others and how they respond or react to us.
Hellinger explains how injuries in one individuals' emotional field can effect someone else in the system, often for several generations. He also shows how one individual can "balance" the system. No one has to change, one only does what needs to be done. For example, a mother may have a hurt from her reaction to her husband, and tell a son, "your father is no good." She may also tell the son, "you are just like your father", so the son feels rejected by the mother, that there is something wrong with his father and him. He may turn to drugs or alcohol to cover the feelings of unworthiness, and no amount of rehab will work until the family system is balanced and love is reconciled.
Hellinger shows how these fields impact us, causing us to behave in destructive ways. When one "sees" what is going on, without moral judgement, and just does what needs to be done, amazing healing can happen in the whole system.
The work is quite profound. It is not an easy or fast read. It is a book that you read a few chapters and process the information; then you read it again and again.
A great book, but I disagree with some of his approach.......2006-08-25
I think what Mr. hellinger observed is how karma works in this world, though he said his finding is different from karma's ordinary definition. I believe we carry our original temperament and karma, and we are influrenced easily by people around us with their karma. In order not to be influrenced so easily, especially, by negative engery, we should pray oftenly to God for protection. Sylvia Browne's God, Creation, and Tools for Life will tell you how.
Human wisdom.......2004-10-28
This is a marvelous book that addresses fundamental issues in our contemporary Western society with great, heart-felt insight.
The author discusses his theory and practice of the phenomenology of intimate relationships, which has the power to uncover the hidden dynamics of family relations, in order to heal individual people and their entire family system.
The author explains in great detail how any loss of balance - in our sense of belonging, give-and-take, and need for structure - within family systems necessarily causes feelings of guilt in both the family conscience and individual consciences of its members. Loss of balance in one part of the system invariably causes compensation in other, weaker parts, most often children - who will be adults later in their lives.
If the, mostly subconscious, causes of these compensations are not properly recognized and addressed, then therapy is bound to fail. If however we start from fundamental insight in the system dynamics well explained in this marvelous book, then we will be empowered to take the right course of action.
All sorts of causes are phenomenologically explained in this book, in order to provide fundamental insight in their "karmic" structures of cause-result: divorce, child adoption, sexual abuse, suicide, homocide, criminal behavior, abortion, unfaithfulness in marriage, a scape-goat within a family, different sexual needs within an intimate relationship, tragic loss, re-marriage after divorce, a child mothering or fathering a parent, homosexuality, jealousy, refusal to accept a parent, legal custody, illegal children, neglecting a partner in favour of children, and so on.
The author offers fundamental insight in these matters, as well as sound strategies to address them decisively. There is a sense of "natural magic" in his therapeutics, when Bert Helling has a client re-enact (and correct) their family constellation. One can easily understand that Hellinger must have learnt much of this from his work as a former Catholic priest among the Zulus of South-Africa, where a kind of "innate wisdom" must have been awoken in him - The short biography in the appendix anyway explains a lot about the developing "spirit" of Hellinger during his life.
In conclusion: This book may teach us to gain our rightful place within our family system, one that is our birth-right; gain freedom from "systemic guilt", and live in peace within our family.
What I like about this book is its redeeming spirit and its knowing heart, which anyone can understand. It is deeply human and I like it tremendously. If any book can change your life by gaining fundamental insight in family dynamics, then this is the one. I wish I could rate it with 6 stars.
Revealing System Dynamics.......2002-03-23
For me chapter one alone is worth the price. As a group facilitator, Hellinger's insight on the how the system balances and how to approach it from the practitioner's point of view reveals a lot of system thinking in family/group situation. I particularly appreciate he sees his role as a Tao Master, which is really doing something by doing nothing. This book is now in Chinese and we have a study group and an on-going practitioner's group around the topic.
Hellinger's the real deal.......2000-10-13
With the wisdom of a sage, Hellinger takes on psychotherapy, conventional beliefs about relationships and what is commonly accepted between family members and lovers in their relationships. Hellinger's message is one of humility in accepting what is, especially the natural order of relationships. For instance, rather than bemoaning an abusive father, Hellinger will stand by the victimizer and have the victim, a son or daughter, humbly acknowledge the father for being the father and to place the circumstances as secondary. In this action, the natural order of the relationship becomes untangled. Hellinger is more interested not in details but in finding what works in resolving problems. The past is past, he seems to say with each page's turn, and focusing on making things right is his intent.
From my personal work, I have seen how this work is indeed powerfully effective, and because of Hellinger's non-linear, often intangible approach, he is a controversial and immensely popular figure in psychotherapy. This review does not do this book or Hellinger's work justice. In reading Love's Hidden Symmetry, I found myself reading only a small section, then putting down the book to sit with whatever I had just read. Each section is worth more than the space on its page, in other words. It took some time to complete it, and a better understanding of what he says will probably only come in time and in multiple readings. Hellinger's work talks precisely about being humbled by each other and our processes and how things work as they do. Moreoever, through his readings and family constellations I have discovered how powerfully my lineage influences who I am. The brilliance of this work is in its systemic significance: how noted events, such as war or murder, can have lasting effects transgenerationally.
My only criticism his is limited inclusion about environmental factors and the role of civilization in contributing to individual psychological problems; this area is not seeming to be his focus. Instead, Hellinger, a master psychotherapist, appears more interested in redirecting our entangled relationships with each other. I leave my first reading of this book still intent on people finding healthier ways to live, rather than just necessarily focusing on their healing; at the same time, I am blown away by what Hellinger does for the individual and family end of things. It is simply unlike no other I have been exposed to before.
Book Description
Award-winning author Jillian Hunter both amuses and delights with another irresistible tale of scandal and seduction.

Simply could not put it down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-08-07
I really loved the whole series of these books . They were great . The characters are so funny , Keep up the good work Jillian Hunter , you have a satisfied fan in me .
Favorite of the series!.......2006-11-19
This book by far is my favorite of the Boscastle series. It had suspense, romance, and just flowed except for the ending. Again the author does a blink and you will miss it wrap up of the mystery. I think the ending was abrupt so that is why I can't give it 5 stars.
So very very good until the end!.......2006-10-28
I absolutely could not see any way that I would not be giving this book a 5 star review - but these words by another kept me wondering
"I do wish this book had a better ending. I would loved to see these two get married. It end on a rather dull note"
What the heck was Ms. Hunter thinking? This book was so unique - the storyline so different with Chloe hiding the secret of Dominick being alive and her falling in love with someone everyone else thought was dead. the dialog between these two was especially witty and intriguing. I loved them as a couple. He was dark and mysterious and she was banished to redeem her reputation. What immediately happens is a 1/2 dead Domminick appears in her bedroom - well that sure is going to help her reputation. and the fun and the drama of the chemistry between these two truly is wonderful. Ms. Hunter even manages to write a beautiful way the two manage to get together after all of Chloes brothers discover her secret little affair with a dead Domminick. The story plays out just perfectly until the end - and then it just ends. This was a disappointment and I dont understand why??
the love affair of an english lord.......2006-07-11
Spicy charecters, humor and a happy ending. Can't ask for anything more.
An Average Romantic Tale.......2005-11-16
This is a fairly quick read, with a predictable story. I read the entire book in a day, but wished my next order from Amazon had already arrived. The main characters, Chloe and Dominic, simply don't have much to distinguish them from hundreds of other love-struck regency Brits constrained by social mores and convention. Aside from the main story of their mutual seduction, there is the sub-plot of how Dominic will prove that his uncle is a killer and traitor to the Crown. ...Yawn...

I've done a million things for my husband and after reading only a few things in this book. I have new ideas. Of course I'm going to give him some time to do them first :)
When's the sequel due?.......2007-02-13
LA Hunter offers some terrific ideas for loving your lady. Men will relate to the clever way it's written with sports references. While the delivery is light hearted, the content is rock solid.
If there was ever a book that begged for a sequel, this is it. All those romantic Romeos deserve royal treatment in return. LA, will "Juliet's Playbook" be your encore?
Treats Women Right And Helps Men Out.......2006-05-23
I really enjoyed this book because of its refreshing approach towards relationships.
Instead of portraying dating in terms of war, it refreshingly reminds us what courtship is really about.
You can enjoy an especially good relationship by showing women that you appreciate their value and consider them true partners in your life.
Highly recommended for those dating, and even those already married.
A Game Plan for Romance.......2006-05-21
Hunter's goal in writing this book is to show how simple it is to change a poor relationship into a loving, rewarding, and exciting one. Hunter is writing this to men, sharing insights into a woman's expectations, enjoyment, and emotional and sexual needs. The book features a sports theme. This format is to attract a man's attention. This approach also will hold your attention as the reader. The book is to help you strategize and execute your Romeo playbook. The author takes you through the steps of getting off the bench, moving to first base, then on to second, and third base, and finally to hitting a home run.
The author presents a suggestion for action. This is followed with a position statement, a plan for execution, and a coach's tip. Chapters include intellectual acts to insure your partner's self esteem. This chapter gives pointers on the importance of touch, of being a gentleman, the importance of romantic dates, and of gift giving. Hunter then moves on to setting moods for intimacy.
The book includes a chapter called "Coach's Extras" with helpful lists. and a helpful bibliography.
The final chapter is entitled "Record Book". Templates are provided for keeping a record of your plays and for creating your own personal romantic game plan.
Simple suggestions fill each chapter. Ideas are given for endearing communication, planning simple informal, meaningful dates, to more formal celebration occasions. I am already planning my next week's strategy. Hunters suggestions help will put a smile on the face, and a twinkle in the eye of that special someone in your life.
This is a man's guide for enhancing his love relationship. It is full of reminders to continue your courtship and reestablish affirming expressions of communication. Whether your marriage is rocky or secure the suggestions in this book when put into practice will bring freshness to your marriage. This guidebook if properly followed, will enhance your marriage relationship. You will see it grow and blossom into a mature, exciting, rewarding, ongoing love affair.
Recommend to Future Boyfriend/Husband, Ex-Husband and Several Ex-Boyfriends.......2006-05-15
When I first got my hands on this book, I was wondering if it was going to be one of those negative game playing books on relationships. I was so relieved to discover that it wasn't. Romeo's Playbook is written by female author L.A. Hunter. When I started reading her suggestions, I kept thinking, "I want someone to treat me like that." Gentlemen, if you want to know how women want to be treated, in this book you go directly to the source and get your information from a woman.
Basically her advice involves common sense and consideration for your partner, be it man or a woman. It seems like in relationships, when the honeymoon stage wears off, these two components get dropped somewhere. Her play list really involves showing your partner respect and showing them that you love them. Many times it is just by using the right words. Women could also use much of this advice for how they treat their men.
The first part of the book offers advice and lists how to put the advice to work. It includes some helpful tips. The second part of the book has a worksheet to keep track of important dates and a record of her likes and dislikes. This is not a bad record to keep. It is really disappointing to keep getting chocolate, when you have let your mate know that you don't like it, or god forbid, you are allergic to it! The third section offers a place for you to keep track of plays that you have developed on your own and the fourth part allows you to journal information on what you have tried and whether or not you need to adjust your delivery.
This really does sound like some game playing, but when the plays involve things like, "Don't go to bed upset, Learn from your mistakes, or never make racy comments about another woman's body," you really can't take offense at the rules. Hunter also explains why these rules should be followed. As a woman, I would like to think that explanations should not be necessary, but too often I have seen situations that should not have occurred and see that it is important for the man to understand things from the woman's perspective.
I highly recommend this book to many people. First of all I recommend it to my future boyfriend/husband whoever he is, wherever he is. I also recommend it to my ex-husband and several ex-boyfriends. I think things could have been a lot different if they had read this book. Ladies, if you feel your man or a gentleman friend just doesn't have a clue about now to treat a woman, this is the book for them.
