Book Description
No dogma please. And hold the mustard. For something to be called Christianity, it should be based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Jesus never said he needed to die for our sins so we could be "saved." Only Paul and John make this claim. Christianity has therefore become a form of Paulism and Johnism that emphasize the Savior aspect of Jesus.
But Paul had never met or heard Jesus teach, and John tells a story that's so different from the other disciples that we must seriously question him as a source.
Did you also know there are two different biblical stories about how Judas dies?
And Mary Magdalene wasn't a prostitute until the Pope made her one in the sixth century.
Pope Urban II even made killing non-Christians acceptable in the eleventh century.
Born Again Christian, President George W. Bush, also believes in the "Rapture" and the "End of Times." See why this should be alarming.
Other subjects include ancient Buddhist records about Jesus traveling to India and studying Buddhism. Jesus may even have studied and practiced Kabbalah.
Subsequently, What Did Jesus Really Say is an easy to read introduction that also reflects on God, Karma, Buddhism, Kabbalah, Reincarnation, Politics, and even Astrophysics.

Information seems accurate - needed an editor.......2007-01-03
I bought this book based on a radio interview with the author as well as the positive Amazon reviews. The book does cover much of the material I expected it to, and it seems accurate and well documented. But I was very disappointed with the quality of the writing. Mr. Cayce seems to have a hard time sticking to one subject at a time. Instead he changes topics regularly, often repeating points he has made previously. While each of the sentence are generally tight and coherent, they are put together in some pretty disjointed paragraphs and so the end result seems sloppy.
A revelation for a long time church goer!.......2006-10-28
Cayce is an excellent writer, and he has the talent to get rather involved, complex points across simply and forcefully. I have been attending Christian churches for over 60 years. Although I have learned many positive things that I have used in my life, I have always been somewhat skeptical when the pulpit has spoken on sin, heaven, hell, and the total accuracy of the Bible. Casey addresses these subjects very effectively, and although his book is only 75 pages, it contains a wealth of information and a new, refreshing way to look at Jesus without all the spiritual baggage the church has loaded on him over the last 2,000 years. I read this book in one sitting, and now I am reading it again, gaining even more fascinating insights into spiritual realities. I will, no doubt, re-read this book 2-3 times a year for the rest of my life.
A Very Positive Book About Jesus .......2006-08-28
I must admit I didn't really want to read this book. I was talked into it by a relative, and I'm glad I was. It was a very positive book about Jesus and his word. The author is very informed about this subject matter, and I really enjoyed it. I found the book very interesting and informative. I talked my husband into reading it as well ... and he too was extremely impressed. A great read!
A good rough draft........2006-08-21
Peter Cayce's pamphlet on "What Did Jesus Really Say..." has more negatives than positives, which is unfortunate because his positives are certainly worth contemplating. His information doesn't spread the breadth of what would satisfy a layperson and lacks the depth for a scholar's taste. Highlights follow.
PROS:
1. CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALIST CRITIQUE: Mr. Cayce points out that a great deal of what Christians follow (or profess to) is NOT the words of the Biblical Jesus, but of the zealot Paul, and misguided and hyperbolic John (who wrote 70 years after Jesus' supposed death).
2. GOSPEL OF ST. THOMAS: Mr. Cayce has been heavily influenced by gnostic and Eastern texts and does a rather good job trying to reframe the Biblical Jesus in these lights.
3. BIBLICAL FLAWS: Mr. Cayce gives a brief, but generally effective, critique on the creation of the Bible, disabling the ideas that it is the "Word of God" and should be taken literally.
4. HEART OF HUMANISM: Mr. Cayce strives to get past all of the magic of Jesus and talk more about the importance of a Universal message of tolerance and compassion.
CONS:
1.REPETITIVE: Even though Mr. Cayce has only 75 pages to prove his points, he is rather repetitive, taking precious time and space to emphasize that science does not undermine the existence of a god, that John can't be trusted, that Paul never knew Jesus, and that the influence of Jesus cannot be denied.
2.GENERAL VAGUENESS: Although very good at quoting scripture to prove his points concerning what Jesus really said/meant, Mr. Cayce's ability to illustrate all other points is weak. For instance, he assumes there is a god, but makes no good argument for it, even admitting that there may not be a god. He briefly asserts the historical validity of Jesus by relying on a contemporary Jewish Historian, Jesephus, whose comments about Jesus as "the Christ" have been widely discredited as insertions made by later Christians. He then states that there are thousands of documents that support the New Testament without referencing ANY of these. Here is why - there are no reliable contemporary accounts of the Jesus of the gospels. There are references to N.T. events and people, references to Christians, references to references, references to OTHER Messiahs and Jesuses, but no reliable references about the Jesus that Christians worship. Perhaps Mr. Cayce knows this, and must resort to vagueness and wordplay.
3. GOD ASSUMPTION: Despite all of his religious/philosophical inquiry, Mr. Cayce still believes in a god. This is unfortunate, as it has clearly soiled his scholarship. He makes the rather tired assumption that a creation must have a creator, God - falling into the logic trap that if his assertion is true, God must also have a creator. The Universe is a much more logical "primary" than any god. He wants a god, and therefore sees a need/justification for a god. No acceptable logical argument backs up his assumptions.
Overall, "What Did Jesus..." makes a much better rough draft for a more comprehensive, complex future work than as a broad and brief reference it attempts to be. I look forward to it.
Kabbalah? Buddhism? Very interesting. A terrific book!!!.......2006-08-15
I really loved reading this book. A wonderful introduction to this subject.
I especially liked the chapters on Kabbalah (and even Buddhism) and how they relate to what Jesus taught. Yes, it is very possible that Jesus studied -- at the very least -- or knew the principles of Kabbalah. He was a "mystical Jew" after all who believed in and performed (according to the New Testament) various "kabbalah-like" miracles. So why wouldn't he know the principles of Jewish Mysticism?
Mr. Cayce has also simplified a very complex subject into something very clear, something very basic, and something very succinct -- just as Jesus originally tried to do 2,000 years ago before Christianity all but semi-destroyed his message.

Reviews don't match book.......2007-02-23
Surely, these reviews about a lesbian couple are not about Joan Hohl's book "Never Say Never." Hohl's book is comprised of two stories about ranchers, rich women, and their unhappy marriages. Not a GLB in sight. Where did these reviews come from? The ISBN of the book to which I'm referring is 1821763792, if you want to research the conflict further yourself.
The rancher stories, by the way, are the type of story I hate. Cold men who are unkind to their women, who are devastated and who love the men anyway. Why do authors write this stuff which makes you feel bad?!
Turbulent romance that you won't soon forget.......2006-07-11
Drama packed whirlwind romance. I'll remember this novel for a long time. Terrific prose - this author has a way with words and a wonderful turn of phrase. Four major issues serve to keep two people apart. How they deal with these issues keep the reader breathless until the very last page. You want Sara and Leslie to end up together because Sara is so very appealing as seen through Leslie's eyes.
The last 3 chapters were heart pounding (and I read them 4 times again after I finished the novel).
from the publisher's website -
"I don't want to hurt you, Leslie." Sara's words stung me. Of all the ways she could have said it, she'd chosen these specific words. Not "I won't hurt you," or "I'm not going to hurt you." Those words would have calmed my fears. But no. She chose "I don't want to hurt you."
Computer analyst Leslie Howard knows all too well that the fastest way to a broken heart is to ignore Lesbian Dating Rule Number One: Never, ever, get involved with a straight woman. Yet, despite her better judgment, and serious warnings from her friends, she finds herself battling a growing infatuation with her very straight - and very attractive - co-worker Sara Stevens.
Haunted by memories of past rejection, Leslie is understandably hesitant about coming out to Sara, yet she doesn't want to jeopardize their friendship by being dishonest about who she is. When Leslie finally trusts Sara enough to tell her she's a lesbian, Sara fulfills Leslie's worst fears and cuts her off.
Hurt and angry with herself, Leslie vows never to trust Sara again, and seeks solace in the arms of a seductive young golf pro. When Sara sees Leslie with her new lover, she is forced to confront her own hidden desires. Then, a long business trip together turns into an emotional tug-of-war, as Leslie and Sara struggle to control the raging passions that could bring them together - or tear them apart.
sweet.......2006-03-27
This is definitely one of the best in this genre! Very sweet with great character development and relationship development. Predictable ending, but that's one of the reasons I love it - no disappointments.
A book worth reading.......2005-03-20
Well written, believeable characters, interesting from start to finish. Just the right blend of humor and drama. Just damn fine work.
Simply... WOW..........2004-12-28
I tucked my kids in, grabbed the coffee pot and headed for the recliner about 9pm. Two decaf pots later, I finished this wonderful book about a lesbian who falls in love with a "straight" co-worker. Leslie Howard is afraid of breaking the cardinal rule (Never get involved with a straight woman), and fights the undeniable attraction she feels toward Sara Stevens. Sara sends mixed signals, especially when she finds out Leslie is gay.
This book is well-written. Yes, there is profanity, but it is used appropriately. I fell in love with the characters. It was hard not to cry for Leslie, get angry with Sara, or empathize with their friends and co-workers. I was sad to see it end.

Incredible Book.......2003-11-14
This book literally helped me revolutionize the way I do business as a religious leader. Because of the controversial nature of my ministry (I'm the founder of the largest religious organization touching the lives of gays, lesbians, bi and trans people in the world) I needed help especially in dealing with the press to get my message over. This book absolutely told me how I could speak to any issue and stay on target about the issues I have tried to explain to the American public. My hat's off to Ian Taylor and George Olds for the information that is contained between the two covers of their book. I highly recommend this book for anyone
Simply. the best.......2003-11-11
I happened upon this book by chance whilst on a trip to Toronto. Media relations is part of my job as a local authority worker in UK, so I thought I'd buy it even though I questioned myself as to whether it could be 'translated' to this country. How wrong I was! Having come to terms with the jargon and the examples, it's become my bible - both for my own use and in training sessions for colleagues. If only it had been around when I was starting out! Thanks you, Ian and George, no-one who speaks to the media for a company, local authority or government department should be without it.
Unique, Thought-Provoking & Brilliant!.......2003-10-31
A simple read with profound information. This book uses great metaphors and analogies to illustrate its points. Using possible futuristic scenarios, the content is not only informative, but entertaining and captivating. We need more books on this important subject.
Articulate, Witty, Practical Guide to Media Relations.......2003-10-10
This straightforward, realistic guide to media relations is a must read for anyone who has ever felt the trepidation of facing a query from the press, a customer or co-worker at a meeting.
Ian and George use practical examples to support their lessons, and a good measure of humour to make this an enjoyable read.

Denying History is a courageous and accessible study of "a looking-glass world where black is white, up is down, and the normal rules of reason no longer apply." Authors Michael Shermer and Alex Grobman have immersed themselves in the conferences, literature, and Web culture of Holocaust deniers; they have engaged the pseudo-historians in debate; and they have visited the concentration camps in Europe to investigate the truth of what happened there. Denying History presents Shermer and Grobman's findings. The book refutes, in detail, the Holocaust deniers' claims, and it demonstrates conclusively that the Holocaust did happen. It also explores the fundamental historical issue in all debates over the truth of the Holocaust: the question of "how we know that any past event happened." Thus, Denying History is a doubly useful book; it sets the record straight on one of history's most terrible events, and it instructs readers in the scientific, logical, and historiographical principles that can help us make wise judgments about history on our own. --Michael Joseph Gross
Book Description
Denying History takes a bold and in-depth look at those who say the Holocaust never happened and explores the motivations behind such claims. While most commentators have dismissed the Holocaust deniers as antisemitic neo-Nazi thugs who do not deserve a response, historians Michael Shermer and Alex Grobman have immersed themselves in the minds and culture of these Holocaust "revisionists." They have conducted personal interviews with the deniers, read their literature, monitored their Web sites, attended their conferences, engaged them in debate, and even traveled around Europe to conduct research at the Nazi extermination camps. Uncovering a complex social movement, the authors go much deeper than ever before in not only trying to understand the motives of the Holocaust deniers, but also refuting their points one by one. In the process, they show how we can be certain that the Holocaust happened and, for that matter, how we can confirm any historical event.
Customer Reviews:
Propaganda.......2007-09-05
For some years now Michael Shermer, an adjunct professor at Occidental College and the editor of Skeptic magazine, has been a fixture on the revisionist scene: not because he agrees with revisionists, but because he is willing to openly discuss and debate elements of the Holocaust legend with them. Over the years he has, generally with good humor, engaged in lively exchanges with several leading revisionists, including Bradley Smith, Mark Weber, and Robert Faurisson. These contacts lent a highly personal and anecdotal flavor to his previous writing about Holocaust revisionism, in his 1997 book, Why People Believe Weird Things. In Denying History, Shermer has teamed with a devout Jew from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Alex Grobman, ostensibly with a view to refuting once and for all the arguments of the "Holocaust deniers."
Around this central core, Denying History groups several long chapters at the beginning which discuss the writing of history, and provide in depth personal descriptions of many leading revisionists, including Mark Weber of the Institute for Historical Review. Towards the end of the book there are several arguments designed to convince the reader that, yes, Hitler was responsible for the Holocaust, and yes, it was the worst thing that ever happened. None of this is particularly edifying. Meanwhile, Shermer and Grobman seemed locked in a time warp: they fail to discuss any of the extensive revisionist forensic and documentary research of the past several years.
On the whole, Denying History is simply an expansion of what Shermer offered in his previous book: various vignettes about leading revisionists, speculations as to why they believe what they believe, without the slightest thought that they might be at least partly right. Shermer, as before, deserves praise for his patient, almost didactic tone when discussing revisionists, but, also as before, he falls far short in his efforts to provide any proof of what he alleges as fact. The sole novelty of the book comes from the presentation of additional evidence for mass gassing and the existence of an extermination program. But this evidence, as usual in Holocaust histories, doesn't really move beyond the implausibilities of the eyewitness accounts, and the supplementary detail in the end proves nothing, except, perhaps, the existence of a bomb shelter in the Mauthausen crematorium.
Didn't have the impact it should of.......2007-05-18
Is this a well research book....but of course...........Does it prove that the holocaust happened...........to some extent I won't argue with that.......Will it silence Holocaust Deniers.......I doubt it.
This is a great book but it fails to answer or prove one powerful argument that holocaust deniers like to shove on peoples face.
<
<
<
< 6 MILLIONS JEWS DIDNT DIE DURING THAT WAR? >>>>.
I have never met someone denying the holocaust, but the debate here is how much jews died. And if people called the holocaust as a never seen massacre I'll say "hey check out the continent in the south", or " the peninsula in the Eastern Continent.
An Antidote to Ignorance.......2007-04-02
Those who should know better, such as author James P. Hogan(who calls revisionists/deniers "more scholarly, scientific and convincing" than historians who tell the truth), claim that the excusers of genocide have legitimate arguments. As this book shows, there's confirmation to refute them from Nazis themselves (which cannot remotely be defined as "coerced"), eyewitnesses to the gas chambers, plenty of documentation detailing Nazi intentions and actions and enough debate within the realm of true academia to address all remaining unknowns. Those who deny seek only to spread anti-semitism, cover-up horrendous crimes and open the door for more of the same, finishing the job left uncompleted in the 40s. It's quite sad that in this day and age, morality is still muddy enough on the part of some people that they can't see Nazis and their defenders as evil. For those who can read with open eyes and clear minds, this book should be helpful.
Much More than Just Bashing the Denier Wackos.......2007-02-07
While it is a great reply to those who deny the historicity of the Holocaust, it addresses the question of historical methodology. The authors demonstrate how we know the truth of historical events based on many pieces of evidence and review the issues of historical subjectivity and objectivity. Further, they show how the deniers distort honest historical methodology to reach a predetermined conclusion. The deniers are not the "Revisionists" they claim to be, boldly asking unasked questions, but ideologues for whom only one kind of answer is acceptable.
A Very Enjoyable and Erudite Read.......2006-10-08
The book is about Holocaust deniers, yet it is more than that. It looks at questions of historiography in general- who writes history, why they write it, and how they write it. The authors' writing style is of the absolute highest calibre. Like most History of Science guys, Shermer can tell a tale, and Grobman is also a skilled author. The book is never boring, even when it has a chapter or section on something which you are sure you will not be interested. It tells us all about the folks who are Holocaust deniers (although I would like to have learned more about Arthur Butz), noting that not all of them are psychologically impaired idiots. Some are well-educated, some are charming, some (David Irving) are skilled writers and researchers. Another point the authors make is that Holocaust deniers really know a lot about the Holocaust, and you can't beat them in a debate unless you really, really know your stuff. What holds the deniers together, of course, is their hatred of Jews & Judaism (which they call "the traditional enemy"!). You will really learn a lot from reading this book about the Holocaust, and you will learn it in a, there is no other word for it, "fun" manner. For those with any trepidation about tackling this subject you should note that its like you are not even reading a historical monograph- the book is that accessible. Once you read this book and ruminate on just how much evidence there is that the Holocaust happened, one really has to wonder about what in this day and age motivates certain folks to dislike Jews so much they would deny the undeniable. I can understand why Malaysians hate Jews- George Soros tried to ruin their economy to make a buck and they are a third world country which has no other Jews around to judge him against, but what excuse is there for Americans, Canadians & West Europeans? Given that money from our good friends in Muslim countries (and Venezuala) are more and more funding Holocaust denials, you need to read this book!!

Book Description
Your loved ones are still with you
The end of physical life does not have to mean the end of a day-to-day relationship with our loved ones in spirit. Gifted medium Patrick Mathews reveals that we don't have to let go of loved ones in spirit-in fact, they benefit as much from ongoing communication as we do!
When he was six years old, Patrick Mathews came face to face with the spirit of his deceased Uncle Edward. As an adult, Mathews serves as a vessel of hope for those who wish to communicate with their loved ones in spirit.
Never Say Goodbye will help you learn how to recognize spirit communication and establish an ongoing relationship with those in spirit. The stories Mathews tells of his life and the people he has helped are heartwarming, humorous, and compelling-from the dead husband who stood by his wife's side during her second wedding to the brazen spirit who flashed Mathews to get her point across. Mathews also provides answers to the questions he is most often asked about life in Heaven.

Never Say Goodbye by Patrick Matthews.......2007-03-09
This is a must for anyone who has a loved one on the other side. It it so uplifting and gives a person peace of mind. I have given it as a gift to friends who are in grief and it also helped them.
Thank you Patrick!.......2007-02-09
I checked out this book at the Library after hearing about Patrick's appearances on local TV and Radio shows. After reading it, I am purchasing a copy to keep, as I know I will read this book over and over.
I have read two other books on this subject and found this one easy to both read and understand. Patrick's gift is amazing to say the least. His accounts of readings for people all over the world would make even a skeptic think twice, and if you are open to this, like I am, his experiences will serve to convince you that communication with loved ones, once they leave this physical life, can be achieved. I spoke with Patrick on the radio this morning before writing the review, and I can tell you that the messages he brought to me were right on the mark...all of them. I'm a believer.
Excellent Reading.......2007-01-05
I read this book twice within the first week of receiving it - and it was great! Patrick is a wonderful and compassionate writer!

Book Description
Reesa's a savvy financial planner with one goal--to have a baby before thirty-five. But to do that, she's got to do one of two things: dump her current man, Simon, and find another man more suitable to be husband and father, or settle with Simon and work overtime trying to train him for the starring role. At thirty-three, getting rid of Simon to find Mr. Right is a chance Reesa's not willing to take. But when she's had enough of Simon's antics and kicks him to the curb, will her goal change? Carmen's been with her man, Anthony, for over three years and has never hesitated to cater to his needs and wants no matter how chauvinistic, insensitive, and rude he can be. Not even Anthony's mother is enough to make her call the relationship quits--even though she thinks about it every day. Then along comes Jordan. Smooth, fine, older, and yearning to be hers, Jordan is ready to give Carmen everything she wants. Carmen can only fight the temptation for so long before she finally gives in. But will an unexpected pregnancy ruin everything? Erica wants a real man to satisfy her soul, but she's not looking for one. Tired of dealing with brothers who think that the key to a woman's heart is bling-bling, and fed up with the brothers who want a lighter shade on their arm, Erica gives up on looking for love and settles for occasional dates and one-night stands. But just when she's found her groove, her ex comes barreling back into her life in a major way, taking Erica through the emotional wringer. Reesa, Carmen, and Erica know that life and love isn't easy, but they never expected the drama in between these pages.

A Story I Can Relate To.......2007-07-16
I enjoyed this book and could relate to many of the characters. I felt their pain and it was a good read. Keep up the good work.
never ever again.......2007-02-06
sorry Dwayne, but this book was so not all that hot. It was about these women that were so bent behind men.. i mean they were so dumb i had to ask my self what the #@&* am i reading this for? these were some stupid stupid... women in my opinion... if a man is treating u wrong move the hell on. this book made me upset because the characters were so weak. it wasn't horrible but it wasn't that great either.
GOOD BOOK...............2006-10-02
....although in my opinion not as good as The Womanizers. A tale of a circle of friends and the challenges that they face with the men in their life in their quest for happiness....
Reesa - Smart, intelligent, and living with a very bad choice. Simon is the epitome of a user. Everything is in Reesa's name--credit cards, apartment, cell phones. Simon lacks a job and contributes absolutely nothing to the relationship...except good sex. What will it take for Reesa to get smart?
Erica - Single, professional, and together. Erica has it all except for a good man....after having had her heart broken by the love of her life. There is nothing going on at all for Erica socially until she runs into Kenny again..and sparks fly. Can she ever forgive him for the ultimate betrayal and give their love a second try?
Carmen - A gorgeous Latina, saddled with Anthony--a momma's boy who has trouble getting and keeping a job. Sex with Anthony is definitely good...but Carmen needs more. Then she meets Jordan, a widower who seems to be the perfect man...and he is persistent in his pursuit of Carmen. Should she maintain the status quo--and stay with Anthony--or take her opportunity for real happiness with a man she loves, in Jordan?
I think Mr. Joseph did a pretty good job at telling this story from a woman's point of view...definitely a good read.
DYB
(RAW Rating: 3.5) - Sisterfriends & Drama..........2006-06-02
Life is often a mixture of happiness, pain, and regrets and the women in Dwayne S. Joseph's latest title, NEVER SAY NEVER, find themselves in the midst of major drama. Reesa is nearing the age of 35 -- her cut-off time to have children -- and unfortunately, her boyfriend isn't exactly father material. Carmen has a boyfriend, but he's self-centered, chauvinistic, and has an all-knowing mother who strongly dislikes that Carmen is not black. Erica isn't really looking for love after having her heart broken a couple of years ago, but still wonders where all the decent men are.
These three women, with a supporting cast of friends, family and co-workers must each re-evaluate their lives to find out exactly what they want or if they will be content with what's currently in front of them. Joseph sheds light onto the many issues that evolve in love and relationships, as well as the friendships of sisterfriends. Although each woman experiences her own set of pain and heartache, they remain true to their friendship and are there for each other. The scenes were believable, the characters were realistic, and the drama, though a bit much at times, didn't completely overshadow the story. The ending, while unexpected, wrapped things up, but left me wondering what decision I would've made if placed in any of the character's place.

Excellent Read.......2006-03-30
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Dwayne did an excellent job at catching the female's perspective on life. Reesa was a little clueless in the beginning but glad to see that she finally started using that brain of hers. Erica had it all together but her past was definitely putting a wrench in a happy future. Carmen evoked the most emotion from me because she just put up with so much unneccesary crap. If I could have reached through the pages of that book . . . His characters are so realistic, you find yourself comparing them to your own network of friends. Excellent book - really enjoyed it!

Good Read.......2005-11-19
Enjoy reading the book, offered good advices.
However; I was disappointed with the author's recommendation of getting "The Power of Positive Thinking - Dr Norman Vincent Peale".
Almost like having a personal conversation with author.......2003-03-03
Read and enjoyed NEVER SAY NEVER by Phyllis George,
subtitled "Ten lessons to turn you can't into yes I can."
George has had quite a life . . . from being crowned Miss America in 1971 to becoming the first female national sportscaster and serving as first lady of Kentucky, she has also been an actress, award-winning humanitarian and businesswoman . . . yet with all this success, she has also had her share of failures and trials--many of which she shares with you on a basis that almost feels like you are having a personal conversation with her.
I also liked how she shared inspirational stories from high-profile friends such as Walter Cronkite, Larry King, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Paula Zahn, and many more.
There were many memorable passages; among them:
"Well, Phyllis," he [Roger Staubach] said, looking me straight in the eye, "well yes. I have a station wagon, and I put the kids in the back, and we all go to church every Sunday. But," he said, clearing his throat, "let me tell you: I like sex just as much as Joe Namath. Only I like it with one person--my wife, Marianne!"
There were times in my life when I stuck my neck out and it
led me many places. There were also times when I was glad
I had been bold because I knew that even if taking a chance
led to failure, it would teach me something. Failure is only
a stepping-stone to success. Taking a chance leads to new
directions; it's never a dead end. Once you understand that,
taking a risk seems less "risky." As a very brave and wise
New York cab driver recently said to me as he raced wildly
through rush-hour traffic: "You can't fail if you never try . . . and when you try, you never fail!" Everybody's a philosopher! Especially in New York.
Tickle, slap, tickle, as one of my friends called it. When you have something negative to say to someone, help the other person feel good about herself or himself first. That person will then be prepared to respond in a productive way to the "negative" part of the conversation. He or she will be less likely to get defensive and reject what you have to say. Rather than thinking of you as critical and uncaring, that person will think of you as being helpful and nice.
Very Inspiring!.......2002-11-23
What a teriffic, wonderful and inspirational book. Something that should be bought in multiple copies for all one's friends. What A great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.
a wonderful,intelligent , motivating book.......2002-11-22
a what great book by this intelligent and resourceful personality. if you want to be more successful, get along better with people, and learn something about the entertainment world then read this book. i am a surgeon. i recommend this book to my patients.
Phyllis George Shares Wisdom through Laughing at Herself.......2002-10-20
I thoroughly enjoyed Phyllis George's book which is filled with amusing and charming ancedotes to support her perspective on going after what you want in life. She good-naturedly laughs and learns from her own mistakes and isn't afraid of sharing them with the reader. Her book is more evidence that Phyllis George really is the wholesome girl next door...with ambition!

Skip this book if you are a Destroyer Fan.......1998-07-13
Remo goes out at night looking for some people to beat up. Not the Master Assassin we have come to know and love.
Remo is also making basic mistakes and Chiun wants to take him back to the beginning. The writer forgets that he is a Master now, not some beginner. He swims a whole 100 meters underwater, in earlier books it was miles, etc., etc., etc.
Mistake after mistake as this non Destroyer author takes apart the basis of all of the characters in the book.
You will read about roundhouse kicks and other basic Karate moves instead of Sinanju. Like books #108 and #109 somehow Remo has turned into a non weapon version of Mack Bolan. Not a book for Destroyer lovers, even Smith is not his usual self.
a lesson to be learned.......1998-07-08
this book, like the past three should serve as reminders to the loyal fans of the destroyer series, that we should never take the continuity and the writing for granted. we should ever be on guard in the future to prevent such tragedies from ever happening again. there is a lesson to be learned from all of this
could not go lower than one star........1998-06-24
This was a total waste of time. I found I had to force myself to finish it. Not worth the paper it was printed on.
It always had been about the relationship.......1998-05-03
The two aspects of the Destroyer series that have brought me back without fail through 110 tales of their adventures are the relationship between Chiun and Remo and the irreverant manner with which current social issues and icons are dealt. This offering has diappointingly little of these two elements. As a result, it ranks as one of my least favorite. I can only hope (as does an addict looking for his next fix) that future tales bring back the Remo and Chiun I have come to love.
Not true to the series, full of mistakes........1998-04-09
Any fan of the series knows certain things to be true about the two main characters, Remo and Chiun. This book takes those axioms and destroys them.
It, in one page, ignores and obliterates some of the key beliefs and history of the previous 109 books.
We need Warren Murphy back at the helm. The plot was sketchy, the characters shallow, and our hero, Remo, is now a cross between James Bond, Charlie Chan, and IBM's Big Blue.
