Book Description
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.
The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Its better on the dark side.......2007-10-09
This book is the first in an excellent series. It is technically in the romance aisle (and let me tell you it is VERY explicit) but it leads with the vampire fantasy world and doesn't deviate an inch the whole way through. You will get sucked into the world of the brotherhood and wont be able to turn it down. I read the book straight through in a day and a half and then immediately went out and bought the rest. There is a solid story line and graphic-no-holds-barred sex that could be a cameo in basic instinct. I loved this book and I know you will too. J. R . Ward has the skills to draw you in with well defined characters that make you care about them, then blows your mind and makes you tingly with what goes on behind closed doors!
Definately a Keeper!!!! One of my Absolute Favorites!.......2007-09-20
I have three words for you.....OH. MY. GOD!!!!!!I could not turn the pages fast enough. What an amazing series...amazing story....amazing book! I highly recommend this for anyone who likes Kenyon or Knight the writing and character development in this is a step above. If your thinking twice about buying this series, just buy it, you won't be disappointed.
AMAZING!!!.......2007-09-16
This is one of my all time favorite romance novels. Before meeting the Black Dagger Brotherhood, I had absolutely no interest in paranormal romance. I'd always seen the characters in other books of this genre as being creepy, to say the least. My sister forced me to read this book while on vacation.
WoW!! J D Ward's protagonists are so well-written, so engaging and have such gut-wrenching appeal, I was hooked after chapter 2. She has created a completely unique vampire culture - complete with language (each book has a "glossary of terms"), social traditions and even anatomical/biochemical details unique to her brand of vampire.
If you have never been a fan of this genre...please give this book and the others in the series a try. You will NOT regret it!!
BEST in paranormal romance.......2007-09-13
J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series knocks everything else in the paranormal romance subgenre out of the water. Her characters are, hands down, the most rounded, most complex, most magnetic out there. Ward is concise and well-written where Sherrilyn Kenyon rambles and falters. Her plotline is amazingly intricate, original, and well-executed. Tales of the brothers are always fun and funny, easy to fall into. Where Angela Knight's style can be too technical and too slow, not quite self-confident enough, J.R. Ward's books are easy to read and fast-paced, giving you plenty without giving you too much. Even Kresley Cole, my second-favorite author, doesn't do the world-building and character exploration J.R. Ward does. The one down spot, for me anyway, is the lessers. I have trouble making myself read those parts, but then again, I can at times be a lazyish reader who won't deviate from the main characters' storyline. Overall, I'd give this an A+.
Oh heck yeah!.......2007-09-11

Book Description
Kenyon became a remarkable success story with Dark Side of the Moon, which became an instant bestseller. Now, her newest, most imaginative, and most breathtaking Dark-Hunter novel yet tells the tale of an ex-god in search of revenge, a servant of Artemis out to stop him, deadly enemies at every turn and a plot that may very well end the world. Ever since the moment his godhood was taken by Artemis, Sin has done nothing but plot his revenge. But when he kidnaps a woman he believes to be the goddess, he quickly finds out that she is not Artemis, but her servant, Katra. And instead of capturing her, Katra captures him. She refuses to release him until he promises not to seek vengeance on her mistress. In spite of himself, Sin is intrigued by Katra, who is nothing like the deceitful Artemis. She's fierce and true, but also compassionate and loyal. However, Sin is not the only enemy Artemis has and it quickly becomes apparent that he must help Katra save her mistress... or life as we know it will cease to exist. What's an ex-god to do?

Answers some questions, but overall a bit average.......2007-10-05
I started reading Kenyon's Dark Hunter series just this past year, but I have now read them all and I have to say that "Devil May Cry" was a bit disappointing.
The story was entertaining enough, but the development of the character relationships and the climax and resolution of the story were a bit weak.
The relationships of Sin and Katra and Ash and Katra were somewhat stunted, too simple. Without giving too much away the only way I can explain is to say that it took a great deal of `Suspension of Disbelief' to accept the ease with which Ash and Katra were able to overcome the circumstances of their relationship. Also, the conflicts between Sin and Katra are not resolved well. They don't really hash out any of their problems as much as they merely see a problem, separate, come together with no understanding, see a problem, separate, and come together with still no understanding etc. The only way I could take it in was by telling myself that the `saving the world' urgency story line left them little time to take a moment for some personal communication. But still, at no point at the end of the book did I feel like there was a proper relationship resolution, and they had a lot to resolve.
The story's conclusion being anti-climactic was so sad. It had so much potential but lacked the excitement `oomph' that Kenyon usually is capable of creating. Those last few chapters had me excited for some action but after that last page I was left under whelmed.
On a more positive note, a lot of questions about Acheron were answered and we were given a more personal insight to Artemis's character. No doubt this will come up in the future books (an exciting possibility). These aspects of "Devil May Cry' were perhaps what saved the book from being completely flat. And while I have so many problems with this Kenyon book, that it was just not up to par with her others, I still say that it is a must read (as it is part of the fabulous Dark Hunter series and you just can't miss a part of it).
So, potential `Devil May Cry' reader, I recommend that you check this book out from the library, or borrow it from a friend, to read and then decide for yourself if it is worth buying it to read again.
Devil May Cry.......2007-09-28
Love her books. Never disappoints in the reading. Can't wait for her next book.
Fantastic Read.......2007-09-28
very hard to put down, read it in one night, easily kept my interest throughout and would reccomend to anyone who likes the mystery and suspence of the paranormal romance
Never a Disappointment!!!.......2007-09-27
Devil May Cry is another wonderful read by Sherrilyn Kenyon! I have yet to be disappointed by any of the Dark Hunter Novels. This was another one I couldn't put down.
So many questions about a lot of the characters were answered in this book that I am more anxious than ever for the next novel to come out. I am also awaiting the series of Dream Hunter Novels.
Sherrilyn Kenyon is THE BEST in my book when it comes to Paranormal Romance!
I highly recommend the entire series.
The only DH novel I decided not to buy.... spoiler alert...........2007-09-26
I absolutely fell in love (with a half dozen different characters) the very first time I read a Dark Hunter novel. (The full length novels are much better than the anthologies) Sherrilyn Kenyon became my favorite author, and I would back up and re-read every book in the series in preparation for each new book coming out, just so I'd be 'refreshed' on everything. I LOVE THOSE BOOKS!!! If you haven't read the others, DO SO NOW!!! They are hot, exciting, well-written, sexy, and just plain good-to-their-bones books. But, for the first time, I've decided not to buy a DH book.
I've waited through a lot of books to finally get to Kats story. I know everyone was excited about Sin, but we hadn't seen him before now, and Kat I felt like I knew, and I wanted her have her own story. I'm sorry, but this was just such a let down after such a long wait. She wasn't as likable as she was in the other books. And Kat has always been a kick-a$$ kind of gal, like Tabatha in 'Seize the Night', but unlike Tabatha, who is a pistol from beginning to end, Kat went from tough girl to girly-girl. I mean, she's the child of two Gods, yet she comes across as powerless throughout the book. Her and Sins romance felt rushed and unreal, and to be honest, a bit boring. I wanted to really know Sins tortured past and be able to cry for him and root for him, like I did for Zarek in 'Dance With The Devil' (a GREAT DH book), but I never felt that close to him in this story.
And as soon as you saw Kat was the heroine and you knew she was going to be paired with Sin, then you knew the big secret was coming out, and she would be reunited with her long lost father. So I thought, okay, here it comes, the fireworks, the drama, the long awaited showdown between Ash and Artie... and it fizzled. I mean, here's this huge secret that's been what? 11 books in the making, and just a couple of pages after she announces she Ash's daughter she's calling him Daddy, like a six year old who wants to stay up past her bedtime, and Ash goes from 7 foot tall God of Destruction to 'Daddy Daycare' mode. And Ash doesn't so much as say boo to Artie. She kept a child from him for 11,000 years!!! She's physically beat him, tortured him, raped him, kept a child from him, allowed his loved ones to die... and she's still not been put in her place. I kept waiting for it, the bomb that's been sitting their ticking through all these books, but it was a dud. In the earlier books I got aggravated as Artie always getting away with being so evil, and I got frustrated because you can only sit back and watch the bully win so many times before you feel hopeless, but I figured, these stories are drawn out, it'll happen eventually. Now, I'm just sick of it.
The last really good DH book was 'Dark Side of the Moon'. I read it, and re-read it again the same week, something I hadn't done before with a book. And after it's ending, I've been waiting to hear something about what's going on with Nick and Stryker. No such luck.
So, overall, if you love a great story, with sexy characters, steamy love scenes, great writing-plot-settings, then read:
Fantasy Lover, Night Pleasures, Night Embrace, Dance with the Devil, Kiss of the Night, Night Play, Seize the Night, Sins of the Night, Unleash the Night, and Dark Side of the Moon.
All of these Kenyon books are phenomenal, but for me Devil May Cry fell far short of the rest. (So many authors seem to get overwhelmed with writing projects, or maybe tired of a series, or they just want try something new. They take a great formula and they mess it up. Julie Garwood did it with her Buchanan series. 'Heartbreaker' was Heaven, 'Mercy' was magnificent, and 'Killjoy' was... no K words, but it was one of the single best books I've ever read!!! Then she just went downhill in the series after that. And Noah Claybourn, a character you waited through over a half dozen books to get to his story, got the worst story of all. It just turns you off the whole series.)
I just hope and pray Mrs. Kenyon slows down a bit and goes back to her roots for Ash's story. After all these years and all these books, to be let down by his story will put me off her for good.

We know the shadow by many names: alter ego, lower self, the dark twin, repressed self, id. Carl Jung once said that the shadow "is the person you would rather not be." But even if you choose to hide your dark side, it will still cast a shadow, according to author Debbie Ford. Rather than reject the seemingly undesirable parts of ourselves, Ford offers advice on how to confront our shadows. Only by owning every aspect of yourself can you achieve harmony and "let your own light shine," she explains. "The purpose of doing shadow work, is to become whole. To end our suffering. To stop hiding ourselves from ourselves. Once we do this we can stop hiding ourselves from the rest of the world."
As threatening as shadow work may seem, it is often very effective in creating transformation. Ford's step-by-step guidebook is modeled on a highly successful course she developed about embracing the shadow. Ultimately, she helps readers illuminate the gifts and strengths that lie within the shadows. Although this works sound vague, clouded in dark metaphors, Ford manages to make it clear and specific. She has the writing gifts of a successful seminar leader--inspirational, trustworthy, and able to convey murky material with grace and ease. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
Debbie Ford believes that we each hold within us a trace of every human characteristic that exists, the capacity for every human emotion. We are born with the ability to express this entire spectrum of characteristics. But, Ford points out, our families and our society send us strong messages about which ones are good and bad. So when certain impulses arise, we deny them instead of confronting them, giving them a healthy voice, then letting them go. It is to these feelings that Ford turns our attention, these parts of our selves that don't fit the personae we have created for the rest of the world. She shows us the effects of living in the dark, of keeping all our supposedly unsavory impulses under wraps. We find ourselves disproportionately frustrated and angry at the selfishness of friends, the laziness of colleagues, the arrogance of siblings. When we are unable to reconcile similar impulses in ourselves, Ford explains, we waste our own energy judging others instead of empathizing. But most important, we deny ourselves the power and freedom of living authentically. Through the stories and exercises in The Dark Side of the Light Chasers, Debbie Ford shows us not only how to recognize our hidden emotions, but also how to find the gifts they offer us. The very impulses we most fear may be the key to what is lacking in our lives.

The Dark Side of the Light Chasers - Debbie Ford.......2007-05-26
This book will help you "find" yourself. A very useable aide in self-enlightenment. Does what it says it can.
WOW!.......2007-05-12
I've read hundreds of self help books. This one is straight forward, courageous and at times a bit brutal. I'll admit that sometimes she suggests things I didn't want to face in myself. I was especially taken with her open honesty about her prejudices, which she didn't believe she had. Out of all self-help books I've read, this is in my top 5 if you want to transform your life into something more whole and more powerful than anything you've known.
Applicable from the first page.......2007-01-18
This book is a very practical guide to accepting yourself rather than trying to change yourself. It is very user friendly and easy to read and understand. You can either use it as a "handbook" for how to be "whole" or as a way to enhance your qualities in your spritual life. It can easily be read several times. There are exercises to do that you may want to do immediately or return to when you have a different level of understanding of the book. I highly recommend it.
Life Changing!.......2007-01-03
If you were allowed only one self help book, this is the one. Start this book with an open mind if you want to change your life for the better.
So many of my questions were answered with this book. Be aware of the big mirror that will appear before you and embrace it. This book will peel away layers of feelings and emotions you never knew you had. Follow this book and your life will change. I've read a lot of books in my day and this one really digs deep and leads you to a more peaceful and calm life.
You will find the power of forgiveness is really huge.
THE BOOK TO END IGNORANCE AND SPREAD ENLIGHTENMENT.......2007-01-03
This is the most helpful book l have ever read in my life. lt should be mandatory reading for every human. lt will make you see who you really are, not judge others and also look at things from others perspectives, heal any parts that need to be healed, and make you a stronger, better person- all around. lts the first step toward enlightenment. lt will change your life. lt can change people. l wouldnt be who l am today if someone hadnt gave me this book. lt will make you an authentic person who takes pride in who you are. lts the tool for reaching well being, which is a euphoric feeling, and makes a perfect gift for anyone who is feeling any discontent with their life, theirself, or others. ld also recommend 'finding your own north star' by martha beck.

A Hunger Like No Other.......2007-09-19
Although I found this book to be enjoyable, it did not require or engage my entire attention. I was able to read it at work between calls and was able to keep up with what was happening. This book to me seemed to drag at times and at other times moved along. I am not yet certain if it is going to stay in my collection or be passed on. I have not yet started the second book in the series although I will read it and have purchased the third book. It just did not reach out and grab me.
So So.......2007-09-14
I liked the start of the book but after a while it was a little fustrating. It took for ever for them to have sex. The theme was good and the charters are enjoyable. I think the charter Emma went a little overboard by playing really had to get. Took her for ever to come around. However, I still plan to read the rest of the series.
Sexy, Daring, but Something's Missing.......2007-09-01
I could hardly put this book down, especially the spicy scenes, which were written perfectly! And the plot of the book was believeable, and well-written.
But when Emmaline and Lachlain finally come together, the book immedietly goes downhill. Even when they finally have sex, the scene is too short, and not nearly as descriptive as previous scene. From there on is just plot, we don't get any more sexy situations!
And perhaps this is just me, but Emmaline's Valkyrie family were the MOST obnoxious characters I have EVER read in a book. Their logic, tactics, and personalities were grating and flat.
However, I still give the book 4 stars because all other aspects were amazing, and I definitely intend to read more in the series!!!
My first paranormal romance and ....I loved it!!.......2007-08-25
I usually read historical romances (medieval, Georgian, regency & Victorian), but the trend in romance seems to be going in the paranormal direction so I figured I'd give one a try. I was seriously afraid of what I call "rolling eyes syndrome" ; some things are just unbelievable and I was hoping that this wasn't going to be just a bad B-movie read.
I am so surprised! I love this book! It reminds of some of my fav Scottish romances, but MUCH more intense and WAY edgier/darker! The alpha male hero is totally hot Scottish highlander hunk (a real treat for this Julie Garwood fan) and the heroine is this a shy little thing who eventually turns into a kick a*s woman. There's werewolf's, vampire's, Valkyrie, witches, wraiths etc., and Cole (author) does a excellent job introducing and giving background information on each one of these. She does this so well that I became instantly engrossed in the book and simply couldn't put it down. There are tons of really cool secondary characters that each have their own unique powers and personally I can't wait for those sequels!
So if you like historical romance or contemporary for that matter, this is a great place to start checking out paranormals. As for me, I have a feeling this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Fabulous.......2007-08-20
This is a great book. The character's are so well developed. You really feel like you know these people.

No rest for the reader is more like it.....l.......2007-10-08
I just finished reading this book and I can't wait for immortals after dark series 3! I've already pre-ordered waiting in anticipation! These characters are deep, passionate with thier work and very wicked when it comes to 'winning the prize' of all prizes. Going back in time to prevent tragedy which also may have consequences. It's a spellbinding read which made me want to 'forget the real life' for awhile to learn how these characters unfolded and came together. Write faster Kresley Cole!
Still So So.......2007-09-14
Okay. Still love the characters and the love scenes are very very hot and steamy. And because of that I give a 4 star rating. But still similar to the 1st book, where the femaile character (Katja) plays a little too much hard to get. That kind of fustrates me a little. However, I still plan to read the 3rd book when it comes out.
No Rest for the Wicked.......2007-09-08
Kresley Cole is one of the best authors of immortal romance EVER!
I have read too many books to list in this genre from many best selling authors and can not remember what sets one book apart from another, except when it comes to Mrs. Cole's Dark series.
Her characters are beyond sexy and yet so vunerable it makes their need for each other so much more real. I find myself laughing out loud and caught off guard several times during her stories when one of the characters says something that makes perfect sense but is so off the wall funny, I need a minute or two to stop giggling and pick the book back up again.
To tell you the truth "No Rest for the Wicked" isn't even her best work out of the three books, but it is still so worth reading.
All of the men and women featured in her Immortals books are all very different from one another, and all very easy to relate to, yet they still remain three very different stories with different personalities, struggles passions and abilities, unlike most romance novels where the same story line and characters are recycled over and over again.
Anyway, my point is GET THIS BOOK and anything else in the Immortals After Dark Series right away. I guarantee you'll love them all!!!!!
p.s. Did I mention that the love scenes in her books are beyond hot! Beyond incredible! Beyond imaginative! Beyond wild, and beyond sweet?....Well if I didn't, then there you have it.
Great Sequal.......2007-08-30
I was pleasantry surprised by Kresley Cole's second book in the Immortals after Dark series.
Wonderfully put together, great characters, and a book I can read over and over again!
Not Bad.......2007-08-14
Not as good as the first book in this series but still a good read.

Dark Celebration:A Carpathian Reunion.......2007-10-07
I was so disappointed in this book. My first complaint is the fact that it was published in hard back when the first 16 were paperbacks. I waited a year or more for this thing to come out in paperback before I bought it, so I actually had to go back and look through my collection just to remember some of the back stories of the more recent couples. Second complaint I just didn't care for it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the Dark books up to Dark Demon, that one I didn't enjoy and I really wanted to because the premise and characters were so promising. The Celebration book just had too much going on and too many characters thrown at you at once. First off the whole cooking thing was stupid, they don't eat meat it's abhorrant to them yet they are playing touch football with an overcooked turkey. It also amazed me that as powerful and invincible as the group is 30 of them in one room couldn't see that the little old lady was possessed before she stabbed Dimitri. The conversations between the life mates pretty much followed the same pattern just insert different names. The whole jaguar thing was stupid, its like everyone they meet now has jaguar blood. The only thing I liked out of the whole book was the set-up for Dimitri and Manolito's stories, hopefully Feehan will go back to the way she wrote the first couple of Dark stories. But hey I won't know until next year at this time because it's released in hard back...gotta make that extra buck$$
Third verse same as the first!.......2007-09-28
I can't believe in like, 3 pages of reviews, I'm the only one who gets frustrated with this series.
Uck. Here's the deal. This author, while her stories have potential, is a one-trick pony. These read like Lifetime Original movies. Which, is such a shame because she has really nice moments. Shea and Jacque's meeting and "courtship" was pretty f-ing awesome. But, she REPEATS herself constantly.
Example. In Celebration, and I kid you not, an exchange just like this happens:
Male: You worked so hard on this. The kids really look like they had a great time.
Female: I know. The kids had such a good time, and they really worked hard on this.
And I swear, if I read someone saying "I am so going to..." one more time...She really dates herself when she includes idiom and coloquiolism.
And all the women are either battered, orphaned, or battered and orphaned and taking care of younger siblings or other battered orphans.
The men always refer to them as "little one" and whenever anyone refers to anyone having an emotional moment, it's either "baby" or "honey". I'm sorry. I cannot reconcile these men (who are from Hungary where English is supposedly their second language) referring to their wives as "baby" in the same breath as "little one". It totally takes me out of the story.
Simply put, Feehan gets in her own way a lot. If she would just let the conversations happen, then, perhaps things would flow more. But I find myself skipping more dialogue because it's all rehashing old storylines and unnecessary exposition.
I'll keep reading though. Because the stories are good enough that with some skimming, they keep me interested.
Great update on the Dark Series!.......2007-09-20
I adore Feehan's whole Dark series and was excited to get this new book as it came out. It was great to catch up on all the couples, and gives a way to segue into the South American family. Definitely should read series in order before you read this book, though, or you won't really understand it.
Hooray for Carpathian Reunions!! May there be more!.......2007-09-06
I really enjoyed all my favorites being together again for a clan gathering. I know it must have been hard to incorporate everyone into the story. My favorites were there, though some featured much less than others. The real suspense and meat of the story featured future bindings and future lifemates-to-come. But that was OK, it's typical Feehan.
Best part: Syndil being an earth healer!! That is awesome news.
Worst part: all too-brief episodic nature of our poor Prince's visits to each lifemate pair. And worrying that Gary is bad because Mrs. Sandler growled at him!
I was disappointed that Francesca wasn't featured more, she is one of my all-time favorite "dark series" heroines!
In my gut I agree with the reviewer who wrote, "This author, while her stories have potential, is a one-trick pony". But I keep coming back for more of the repetition and go-nowhere nonsense. Maybe Feehan needs a ghostwriter to help with plot.
Wonderful Book.......2007-08-17
I loved this book I enjoyed the interaction of all the Carpathians and see how they have grown in their relationships. Its filled with laughter and romance, suspense, and danger.

Book Description
Seventeen years ago, Morgan Winter was traumatized by the discovery of her parents' brutally murdered bodies in a Brooklyn basement on Christmas Eve. Now shocking new evidence overturns the killer's conviction and Morgan is confronted with the horrifying realization that the real killer is still out there.
Trapped in an emotional hell, she hires Pete "Monty" Montgomery, the former NYPD detective who first investigated her parents' homicides. Now a PI, Monty has a personal score to settle—a promise he made to Morgan, the helpless child long ago, that he'd find her parents' killer. With nothing more than an old case file and the original crime scene photos, Monty enlists the specialized skills of his son, Lane, a photojournalist whose job is a perfect cover for the clandestine image analysis he conducts for the CIA. Constantly thrill-seeking, Lane is used to gambling and putting his own life on the line—for country, for journalistic integrity, for the adrenaline rush. But this time, the stakes are different . . . and this time, he can't afford to lose.
The murderer is still at large and has never stopped watching Morgan from the shadows, making sure a dark secret remains buried. Now, Morgan's fierce determination to uncover the truth consumes her, plunging her into the dark and terrifying past and an increasingly dangerous present.
Lane is closing in on the truth. But in a cruel twist of fate, what he exposes may be far more shocking and devastating to Morgan than anyone could imagine.

A Good Story, Well Written.......2007-08-23
As with all of Kane's stories, this one is well written and a pleasure to read. Am looking forward to her next novel.
Great characters but somewhat predictable.......2007-08-13
Nightmares have plagued Morgan Winter since discovering her parent's corpses when she was ten. During that intense time, she bonded with the detective assigned the case. With the culprit in jail, she felt a small sense of relief until it is uncovered that he confessed to the crimes in order to avoid a cop killing conviction, and the crime is once again unsolved. The now retired detective, Pete Montgomery, always felt that the wrong person was convicted, and now Morgan has hired him to find the real killer. With the aid of his son Lane, a photographer who freelances for several clandestine organizations (thus having great resources and equipment), new details in the crime scene photos pop up to provide more questions. Lane and Morgan form an instant attraction. But as the investigation gets closer to the truth, Morgan becomes a target.
In a follow up to "Wrong Place, Wrong Time" featuring Pete's daughter Devon, Kane's latest is packed with action, but it's a bit predictable (I guessed the culprit within the first couple chapters). In Morgan, she's created a heroine that's both strong and fragile at the same time, and it's nice to see a hero in a job other than police detective. Despite the flaws, readers will be enthralled with how the story plays out as, Kane is a master at creating compelling characters.
Dark Room .......2007-07-24
When Morgan Winter learns that the man convicted of her parent's murder seventeen years ago did not commit the crime, she is determined to find the real killer. Morgan hires former police detective turned PI, Pete 'Monty' Montgomery. Working with Monty is his handsome, daredevil son and top photographer, Lane.
With the killer desperate to keep his identity secret, the danger to Morgan escalates. Monty and Lane are determined to keep Morgan safe until they find the killer, and they will find the killer because failure is not an option.
Wow! Dark Room is a very intense book! Andrea Kane is an amazing author. From the first paragraph Ms. Kane drew me into the suspenseful world of Morgan Winter. I felt all of Morgan's emotions, from her sadness over losing her parents to her desire for the gorgeous Lane. Who can blame Morgan, Lane is utterly delectable. Smart, dangerous and Alpha, Lane is the full package.
I loved Dark Room! The suspense kept me on my toes and on the edge of my seat. The romance was just as thrilling. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better romantic suspense novel!

Dark Room - Best book I've read this year!.......2007-05-31
This is Andrea Kane at her best. It had me hooked right from the start with great characters and a plot loaded with twists and turns. It is also a very touching story. I couldn't put it down it was such an edge of your seat page-turner. I've read all of Kane's contemporary romance books and this one is definitely her best yet. If you like reading romantic suspense from Nora Roberts, Karen Robards, Jayne Ann Krentz, Linda Howard, etc.; you will love Andrea Kane's latest novel-Dark Room.
An action-packed book where one tantalizing clue is revealed after another.......2007-05-30
When Morgan Winter was just a child, she discovered the bloody bodies of her murdered parents on Christmas Eve. Luckily, Arthur and Elyse Shore, close friends of her mother and father, were there to pick up the pieces of her life, take her in and raise her as their own along with their biological daughter, Jill, Morgan's close friend.
Now Morgan and Jill run Winshore, a top-quality matchmaking service that strives to match men and women with their true loves --- not just on a superficial level but on a deeper and more meaningful plane. Morgan has rebuilt her life and moved on, even though the murder of her parents has always loomed over her. With Christmas just ahead, however, the past surfaces to haunt her again.
Morgan is dreaming of her parents, reading her mother's old journals and studying photos of herself and them in happier days. With the killer convicted and locked away, the past should be behind her, but Morgan can't shake the experience that is always with her just below the surface.
When old friend and retired police detective Pete Montgomery shows up on the doorstep of Winshore, Morgan knows it doesn't bode well for her peace of mind. Detective Montgomery, or Monty as he's known to friends and family, tells her that the wrong man was convicted all those years ago, and the person who killed her parents and destroyed her life has been free all along.
While Morgan is shaken to her core, rather than falling apart she immediately hires Monty, now a private investigator, and determines to see for herself that the right man is caught and punished for this horrible crime. Luckily for Morgan, she is surrounded by loving family and friends. The Shores, Jill and Monty do their best to see that Morgan is supported and upheld in this turbulent time that is shaking them all to their very foundation.
Morgan also meets and is immediately attracted to Monty's son, Lane, a photojournalist who conducts undercover image analysis for the CIA. Lane is used to living life on the edge. One thrill after another suits him just fine. His previous exploits, however, are nothing compared to the adrenaline that flows through his body when he meets Morgan.
Lane is drawn into the mystery surrounding Morgan's parents when Monty asks him to enhance and scrutinize the crime scene photos of Morgan's parents. He quickly becomes confidante and protector to Morgan as well.
It's obvious that Morgan, Monty and Lane's investigation is coming too close for comfort when Morgan and Jill's home is broken into and trashed, a frightening warning is left for Morgan as a cease-and-desist order, and one of Morgan's clients is the victim of a hit and run. Is anyone close to Morgan safe now, or has she placed everyone she loves in greater danger?
Regardless of what happens, Morgan knows the only key to lasting peace and happiness is unmasking the person who killed her parents and stole her youth. The question is, will that truth set her free or will it annihilate her when she finally learns it?
DARK ROOM is an action-packed book where one tantalizing clue is revealed after another. The chemistry between the characters is warm and humorous, and they come across as real people who love and care deeply for one another. I found myself wanting to remain in their company and know what happened next even after the book ended.

Customer Reviews:
Not sure if it is worth buying in hardback, but if you like the series, you will probably suck it up! I know I did........2007-10-10
I must first explain my earlier comment and then move on to the review. When I found out that Feehan was coming out with a new novel about the deliciously sexy, yet moody Carpathian Manolito De Le Cruz and whitty, fashionista Mary Ann Delaney, I preordered and didn't really pay attention to the cost, or that now the novel was is hardback. Well, if I had known, I would have probably tried to get it from the library (if I just couldn't wait) or waited patiently for the paperback version (although don't get me wrong, the book was good), because it seemed to be the same quality and amount of her paperbacks. That is perhaps my biggest con about the book.
Now the pros! Finally a story devoted solely to Manolito and his stuggle to (1) remain Carpathian and not become a vampire; (2) not fall prey to the seduction of several vampires he has killed in the past (he is in between the spirit world and the real one); (3) claim his lifemate, who is reluctant to even get in a relationship with a man, especially a dominate male carpathian; and (4) basically, fight all those things threatening to claim his soul and make him evil. On the other hand, Mary Ann, his reluctant lifemate (introduced in other novels) is struggling with her own personal demons, and it would seem everyone elses. (She is in the rain forrest to help cure some women who have been brutalized by some wereleopards). Mary Ann has just learned that (1)she is the lifemate of a dominate male; (2) an attack in her past has left her not trusting men; and (3) she soon learns that not only may she be psychic, but much more.
As the two find love, we are introduced to new characters (Luis) and reintroduced to old ones (Manolito's brothers and some of their lifemates, as well as those under their protection). And the best scene is seeing big bad Manolito painting Mary Ann's toes! Now who else could but Feehan could make you laugh that hard?
Well, in conclusion,I read Dark Possession in two days on a trip to Charleston, and enjoyed it. You have everything that makes a great Feehan novel....romance, great sex scenes and a good plot. But is it worth the hard cover price, that is up to you to decide.
Dark Possession.......2007-10-09
I really like this book Christine Feehan is one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed this book.
The De La Cruz's brothers never look so tempting until now.......2007-10-08
I waited impatiently for this book but ironically I forgot about it for some time until it was giving to me as an early gift and once more, I was not disappointed. I have been a fan of Christine Feehan from the first Carpathian novel and own most of her novels. I for one was not disappointed and establish this book a great addition on my shelf. In here we have our hero on the verge of becoming a vampire; Manolito De La Cruz is called back to his Carpathian homeland and unexpectedly finds his destined life mate, MaryAnne Delaney, who has no idea of the lengths that Manolito will go through to keep his mate.
Well after reading this I found the characters to be strong, absorbing, and very hard to ignore in different ways. I did wish, however, for more of a continuance of the story from the "Celebration". Like what happened to Manolito from the time he was stabbed till he woke to early in the rainforest? How did he manage to convince Mary Ann to take a journey with people she didn't know? What exactly did Gregori do to bring Manolito back - and (while I understand the concept) what exactly did he do during his journey to the tree of life to retrieve Manolito's spirit. Since this spirit journey has great deal to do with the actual story line, I wish that it had been better explained. I enjoyed meeting Vlad and his life mate in the shadow world, but wondered why Ivory wasn't there with them. Is this another story? Is she really dead? Enquiring minds want to know or am I asking too much.
I liked meeting some of the new old ones for pretty much the first time. There will be readers (dedicated fans really) that will be put off by Feehan's direction. And this story definitely threw in some new factors that hadn't been really mentioned in previous books. I'm sure if you loved her other books and actually pick this one up, you're going to love it. A must read for paranormal lovers and romance lovers alike. This book along with her other work makes you feel you're actually a character taking part in the story and not just reading it at a distant. This book draws you in completely and keeps you there and if you lucky it might even take you away. I wouldn't mind reading Zacharias' story next but here's hoping.
Awesome Job!.......2007-10-07
This is definitely one of my most favorite books in the Dark Series collection. I love the dynamics between Manolito and MaryAnn, the introduction of a new species, and the various story lines (potential indepedent novels). To be honest, I was not a fan of the books that focused on the De La Cruz family. However, this book has definitely opened my mind more to them and has me looking forward to stories involving the remaining De La Cruz brothers.
Christine did a fantastic job and, once again, proves why she is the queen of paranormal romance. :~) Excellent job Christine...thank you!

Customer Reviews:
My first Doc Ford book, I really enjoyed it........2007-05-28
I was a little surprised when I got to this page on amazon and found that this book was getting lambasted by so many fans of Doc Ford. To tell you the truth I could understand why my fellow reviewers here were knocking the book around. It seems like a common complaint is that nothing really happens here, and not much does. I dont mind this at all, because Randy White's writing really takes off here and is so well done that he pulls the story along with understated prose in a refreshing manner.
At times I grew a little frustrated with White, mainly because he went overboard quite often with his descriptions and you often find yourself leafing through five or six pages of story that are re-hashing earlier thoughts or that could have been edited out without being missed. However, I would gladly read these pages and have such a strong story presented instead of being tortured once again with a Clive Cussler action packed comic.
A few things that kind of didn't resonate with me were that one of the main characters might have been a ghost. Your not sure from early on what is going on with this person, and White doesn't really go into great detail. I kind of like this in that it isn't neatly resolved. Also, the bad guy is so evil that it was a little hard to swallow. I don't think anyone ever is quite so bad. Apart from a few sentences this person is never humanized. White writes that this person had a middling average life before coming to Florida and the rest is all this persons evil deeds from the past...
I cant wait to delve into the other eleven Doc Ford books and would so far suggest this series to fans of the thriller genre.
Bring Back Doc Ford.......2007-05-23
I was very disappointed with this book. However, I did struggle through it all. I've ready every one of RWW books and usually can't wait for his next book to arrive. I'm hoping this was just a glitch in a long long line of Doc Ford books. One thing was gratifying, Doc Ford finally went after a women that wasn't half his age. Just next time she doesn't have to be twice his age!!!!!
Not one of White's Best.......2007-05-18
This was a disappointment. The plot was too obtuse; the action was too muted; and, with one or two exceptions, the characters were not well-defined. I hope this is just a minor glitch in White's long parade of compelling novels. It was almost as if someone other than White wrote this.
Not my favorite Doc Ford novel.......2007-03-13
I am going to give Mr. White a Mulligan on this one. As mentioned in the author's notes, Mr. White spent a lot of his time writing this book while in public libraries, around the country. He was also dealing with the endless paperwork that goes with insurance companies, reconstruction and FEMA. The damage done to his area of Florida is evident in the novel, through Doc's eyes.
This novel does give Doc Ford a new dimension. He is thumped in a dock fight early in the novel. Later in the novel Doc gives in to Tomlinson's "Seven Mile Bridge" weed in an attempt to ease the headaches he is suffering from as a result of a concussion suffered during the hurricane.
Also there is the introduction of ghosts or supernatural into this novel. I found this to be an interesting diversion from the usual plots of Mr. White's Ford novels. Reminded me of some of the works of James Lee Burke.
All in all, if you are looking for your first Doc Ford novel, this is not the one I would recommend with which to begin. But, if you are a Doc Ford fan, this one cannot be passed by, either.
Not RWW's best read.......2007-03-01
But perfect if you're stranded all day in a freezing airport. I'll always read Randy's Doc Ford books because I love the settings, the characters, & I always learn something about our beautiful fragile Florida.

sensual.......2007-10-10
Could not put the book down. It was sexy and warm at the same time.
I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a different kind of hero.
I also recommend people watching Moonlight on CBS Friday at 9PM as well as all Christine Feehan's other books.
Pass the lighter please.......2007-09-18
Okay, I'm no great fan of romances, but I've read some that I enjoyed. A friend passed on part of this series to me thinking since it was "supernatural" I might like it.
This is so formatted might as well be harlequin...all the girls are petite and shy and curvy but no one has ever really noticed them and they all have exotic names, and the guys are all arrogant and snotty and "you VILL vant me!" and the chicks despise them for that...and they whole time they are having sex it's "oh you brute I hate you" and then he saves her from his evil twin/stepbrother/grandson...whatever, and they live happily every after the end. There ya go.
I wish I had not run into this series as an "introduction" to supernatural romance, as I've heard others are less formula driven, but I am so burned I just can't bring myself to look at any other recommendations.
Terrible - don't let the reviews talk you into this one.......2007-09-11
It's hasty and disjointed with little to no character development. Reads like a Harlequin romance. There's such better vampire fiction out there. Spend your money on some really great reading like J.R. Ward's series and skip this all together.
Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
This book is terrible. For the first quarter, absolutely nothing happens except the head top Carpathian vampire guy sets his sights on a woman and finally shags her. That is it, for that much.
Boring as hell. Completely overwritten, turgid and melodramatic, and a complete and utter waste of time. Plenty of others of this sort of thing that are way more entertaining.
If you want something crappy and more gothic you might be interested, otherwise, forget it.
Great read.......2007-09-03
I began with Dark Demon. After reading that novel, I was hooked into the Dark Series. This is the first in that series and it shows that Feehan has a bright and long future ahead of her.
