Terrific.......2007-08-06
Club Dead is an entincing novel in the Southern Vampire series. Truly Original! Sookie goes down to Jackson to find her vampire boyfriend Bill who has disappeared and she bleieves it was by force. With help from a studly werewolf, Alcide and from the rest of her vampire friends, Sookie is determined to bring Bill home. But there are many obstacles in her way, including Bill's vampire master. Sookie puts everything she has on the line to save Bill, but will it be enough?
Sookie's first vamp job........2007-07-18
Sookie's vampire friends basically rented her out to another group of vampires to find a vampire that disappeared. Sookie gets to develope her telepathic powers by reading the minds of the human employees of the vampires in Dallas. Sookie's detective work leads her right into the heart of a religous cult that has it in for vampires. She gets captured but to find out how she gets out of it please read the book. I like it and so will you.
Sookie Steps It Up.......2007-06-28
The third installment of Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series, Club Dead, finds our Sookie facing more danger in her life with the vampires, but this time she's doing it with a broken heart. Bill, her vampire boyfriend, has suddenly taken off, reportedly with his former lover, the vampire Lorena. Bill's boss, Eric, is worried enough about Bill (and a secret project Bill's been working on), that he taps Sookie's expertise in mind-reading to help locate him when it seems that Bill may be actually be really, truly dead, or at least missing.
This episode of Sookie's life among the undead is action-packed, and we are introduced to the handsome werewolf Alcide, who is assigned to assist Sookie in her quest to find the faithless Bill. A new side of Sookie emerges in this book; though her heart is broken, she finds that she is strong enough to pursue the leads to Bill's whereabouts and even take on his erstwhile lover. There is quite a bit of violence in this novel, and things do not get sewn up neatly for Sookie, but she does learn something about herself in the process.
I quite enjoyed this installment. Sookie's rise in self-confidence is stirring, and the introduction of Alcide is quite nice as well. Eric is, as always, funny and sexy; Sookie must decide what her next move will be, and if she has the courage to turn her back on the vampire society altogether. Well written, and good fun! On to the next in the series.
BEST ONE YET...............2007-06-13
The third and thus far best in the Sookie Series sees our spunky little heroine becoming slightly disillusioned with her vampire boyfriend, Bill. Lately he's seemed more interested in his secret "work" than in her...and to add insult to injury, he is leaving town on a secret "work" mission. Sookie is furious...and even more so when she is informed by Eric and Pam that Bill has become involved with his ex-love Lorena....who also happens to be the vamp who "made" Bill. But Bill has since gone missing...and who better to found out where he is but innocent little mind-reading Sookie? So Eric sends Sookie out to find Bill...undercover as the girlfriend of a Were name Alcide from the town of nearby Hotshot. Eventually it becomes clear that Bill may be in the fight of his undead life....but can Sookie save him before it's too late? Even more importantly, will she succeed in fighting ever-growing feelings for the attentive and attractive Alcide? But more frightening still...how long can she ignore the amorous overtures of the gorgeous Eric, a powerful vampire who also happens to be Bill's boss? Most importantly....how long will she want to?
Another engaging, pageturning installment of our southern vampire series. This one is my favorite thus far...too bad we can only give it 5 stars!!!

Disposing of the Physical Remains.......2007-06-04
Club Dead (2003) is the third Rural Fantasy in the Southern Vampire series, following Living Dead in Dallas. In the previous volume, the maenad didn't leave any survivors on the deck except Tara. Eric and Bill set fire to the beach house to cover the deaths. Portia took her brother Andy home, Sam took Tara and Eggs back with him, and Eric returned to Shreveport. Then Bill and Sookie also left and Callisto wandered off to who knows where.
In this novel, Bill Compton leaves town after hiding his database files and computer system in Sookie Stackhouse's closet. He tells Sookie that he is going to Seattle, but she knows that he is lying. Then Bubba shows up sitting on her front porch swing.
Bubba says that Eric has sent him to guard her, but doesn't know why. Sookie is on her way to work, but decides that Bubba can't go into the bar area; after all, he is too well known to just sit at a table. Bubba refuses to stay in the car in the back parking lot since he couldn't know when she is threatened. They finally agree that Bubba can sit in the office while Sookie is working.
As Sookie goes into the building to get Sam's permission, a Were gang member grabs her and then Bubba crushes his throat. After a bit of confusion involving Kevin -- a local cop -- Sookie, Sam and Bubba clean up the area and stash the body out of sight. Then Pam shows up later asking about Bubba.
In this story, Sookie learns that Bill has gone to Jackson after being summoned by Lorena, his master. He had called Fangtasia the previous night stating that he was coming back to Bon Temps to take care of some business, but he had never arrived. Eric has learned something about Bill's whereabouts from paid informants, but he can't just go searching for Bill since Mississippi is outside his jurisdiction. Indeed, it is a separate Vampire Kingdom.
Sookie can't read vampire minds, but she can go listen to the human minds in the Mississippi Kingdom. Eric has arranged for a Were named Alcide Herveaux to take her to Jackson and to provide an apartment. Alcide will also escort her in Josephine's, a vampire bar that caters to other supernaturals as well. The Weres, however, call the bar Club Dead.
Sookie is really hurting in this story. Bill has lied to her and then went to another woman. Even if this woman had brought him over, most vampires go their separate ways after the first few decades. Why did Bill go to Mississippi?
This story introduces Debbie Pelt, a shapeshifter who had been dating Alcide, but had recently left him for another shifter. But Debbie doesn't like other women in Alcide's life. She is a vixen in more than one respect.
Sookie also meets Janice Herveaux Phillips -- Alcide's sister -- whom she likes very much. Janice owns a hair salon and insists that Sookie have her hair and nails done properly for Josephine's ambiance. Sookie has never even been in a hair salon before this and really enjoys the experience. She even gets to repeat the experience the next day.
Sookie has problems with the Jackson Weres. The Were who had attacked her in Merlotte's Bar had been from Jackson. Then Jerry Falcon, another member of the same Were gang, accosted her in Josephine's and was forcibly removed. Jerry's body later showed up in Sookie's apartment in Jackson.
Highly recommended for Harris fans and for anyone else who enjoys murder mysteries with vampires, werewolves and other preternatural creatures.

The story of Hamlet is not usually thought of as one meant for laughter. But Matt Haig's able retelling of the tale in The Dead Fathers Club will make you laugh, though it might also evoke a tear. Eleven-year-old Philip Noble is at his father's funeral when who should appear but his father's ghost, who wastes no time in telling Philip that his Uncle Alan, an auto mechanic, tampered with his car, causing the accident that killed him. He warns Philip that Uncle Alan will shortly be tampering with his mother too, because Unctuous Uncle Alan wants the pub that Philip's father owned.
The solution to this problem, according to Philip's dad, is that he must kill Uncle Alan. If he doesn't do it before Dad's next birthday, 11 weeks away, Dad will be consigned to the Terrors for all eternity. Philip agrees, in principle, but killing someone, especially without getting caught, isn't easy. But a promise is a promise, so Philip gives it a whirl, in fact, several whirls. Real life interferes in the persons of two school bullies, truly nasty and perverse thugs, who seem ready to kill Philip because they think it's funny that his father died. Philip also falls in love, and his Ophelia (named Leah) thinks that shoplifting is tons of fun. Poor Philip is in over his head in every way possible. There are many encounters with other Dead Fathers in a great sendup of ghostly dealings, Hamlet-like, on the moors, and several sly references to the play. There is even a character named Dane. The ending is not pure Shakespeare, but it is pure Haig and that is very good indeed. --Valerie Ryan
Book Description
A ghost story with a twista suspenseful and poignantly funny update of the Hamlet story
Eleven-year-old Philip Noble has a big problem: His dad, who was killed in a car accident, appears as a bloodstained ghost at his own funeral and introduces Philip to the Dead Fathers Club. The club, whose members were all murdered, gathers outside the Castle and Falcon, the local pub that Philip's family owns and lives above. Philip's father tells him that Uncle Alan killed him and he must avenge his death. When Philip realizes that Uncle Alan has designs on his mom and the family pub, Philip decides that something must be done. But it's a much bigger job than he anticipated, especially when he is caught up by the usual distractions of childhooda pretty girl, wayward friends, school bullies, and his own self-doubt. The Dead Fathers Club is a riveting, imaginative, and quirky update of Shakespeare's great tragedy that will establish Matt Haig as a young writer of great talent and imagination.

Hamlet by any other name..........2007-09-03
The main idea for this book is inherently an interesting one: take Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and turn it into a modern day tale of a ghost urging his son to take revenge against his murderer. There are so many parallels to the Bard's play that anyone reasonably familiar with the play can immediately decide which characters in the book are like the characters in the play. That's one of the interesting parts of the book, and perhaps the only one, at times. The action follows, to a great extent, the play, and there are some scenes lifted almost directly from Shakespeare. I did enjoy the book, but it kind of left me with an unfulfilled feeling at the end, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Read it, and judge it, for yourself.
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.......2007-08-18
So i got the book after reading all the good reviews...what a disappointment. The book is painful, one bad thing after another, just unrelenting, it's almost like the author just put all the bad things that could happen to you in childhood into one book and think that's enough to make a sotry. Worst yet, there's no resolution of any kind at the end... so even if you sit through the whole book waiting to see if the ghost is telling the truth, you don't find out anything.
Pure voice in a boldly written tale sparks magic.......2007-07-29
Loved it! Once started, it was one of those books I really looked forward to the time I could spend enjoying it. Haig's way of letting Philip tell his tale is bold and refreshing. I found the writing style intuitive rather than bothersome (and I'm an editor); it was an easy, quick read.
Haig has an incredible knack for resurging in us the bittersweet feelings and perspective of being a preteen--life's general confusion, uncertainty, anxiety, innocence and wonder--even if you didn't have to deal with deaths at that age!
While there were funny parts throughout, the chapter toward the end with the grandmother Nan and Philip was brilliantly hilarious. I would like to read that chapter again and again just for the kicks it gives on its own. Anyone who's had an elder family member in their midst can relate.
Big thanks and kudos to Matt Haig for writing this one--and doing it just the way he did.
Fun Take on a Classic.......2007-06-02
An interesting and enjoyable modern day riff on 'Hamlet', the young tortured protagonist in ' ...Club' feels very reminiscent of the young boy in 'The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night-Time'. Young Phillip's tale moves at quite a clip with his Father returning from the dead to tell the boy he must avenge his wrongful death at the hands of his brother, the boy's Uncle. The book isn't nearly as maudlin as it sounds, and is in fact quite funny, and part of the fun is seeing how Haig manages to update the story.
Didn't quite work .......2007-05-27
I saw a reference to this book somewhere on the Web, and it sounded intriguing, so I ordered it. It was, at best, ok. The child's voice, particularly the lack of apostrophes and the addition of capitals for emphasis appeared authentic but distracting - as were all the Shakespearian references.
In some ways, I think it would have been a better story if those had all been left out, so we could focus on the kid and his situation rather than continually harking back to the indecisive 30-year-old Dane. As a result, I couldn't engage with the story.
Of course, since I bought the book because it was a recreation of Hamlet, my suggestion might be self-defeating...

Yves. Again!.......2007-08-16
This is sort of a weird book. Yves starts the book writing in the style of a wannabe Hunter S. Thompson and then decides that he may as well just start "writing". I would say that the abrupt transition starts in maybe the first 80 pages.
I believe that Yves Lavigne is probably the most knowledgeable author in the world about the major motorcycle clubs, other than insiders like Barger (or even Wethern) or undercovers like Queen or Dobyns (through authors), or in-touch contacts like Thompson.
But Yves has some sort of agenda that makes him report every myth and fantasy that has EVER been posited as if it is a FACT. It doesn't take long to tire of this book if you have read everything else, because you have to believe, based upon acquired knowledge, that 30% of what he says is suspect, at best.
I respect Lavigne for his obviously superior knowledge of the topic as a whole. But read every other account and determine for yourself if he has some personal agenda, even if it is as simple as money.
Lame but not all bad.......2007-01-19
The guy that wrote this book was really trying to show how cool he is. I mean the the way he wrote it was over the top. You can tell he was trying to prove something. I have read Sonny's book and others and they much better written.
This guy skips around, repeats things he's previously talked about in the book. And the way he talks to the reader is just crude. I mean, sure he's dealing with a rough subject, but come on, use better english.
And I know what I am talking about. I lived the underground life for many years. I knew people like this, and this writer is someone who has never lived this life. He writes like a person who has never been around the people he is writing about.
This book is an over the top, stereotypical view of the big red machine written by a total sidewalk commando, or rather keyboard commando.
This book could have been a much better or clearer view of the HA than it is, but the writer's crude "trying to prove how cool I am" vocabulary, unfocused chapter organization, and other poor writing errors make this book a real dud. I'm still reading it, it's not so horrible that I put it down, but it came close.
This book should have never been published the way it is. The publisher should be ashamed.
If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand..........2007-01-10

I had a personal inside view into that world in my teens........2006-10-27
I grew up in the the near west suburbs of Chicago from 55-73, when we moved to DuPage County. There were 2 large biker gangs in the Lyons,IL area called the Chicago Outlaws and the Hells Henchmen. I knew several of the Outlaws as acquaintances, there were a few members who I had casually met that were not very nice and I was afraid of them. One member of the Outlaws was my best friends boyfriends older brother, John Klimes. He was always very nice to both me and my girlfriend whenever we saw him. He was murdered in McCook, IL in 1981. There was a huge biker funeral for him and it was on the local news. They never arrested anyone for his murder, but rumor has it that they wanted to kill both John and his girlfriend. His girlfriend worked at a local strip club, Michael's Magic Touch, she could placed the head of the Outlaws as the last person seen with a young woman the night before she was found dead in Busse Woods. There was also speculation that the head of the Outlaws was afraid that John was going to take over the Outlaws Lyons chapter. The talk around town at the time was that "they" were trying to kill both John and his girlfriend. A bomb was planted under John's Bronco and when he went over train tracks in McCook,IL it exploded killing him, his girlfriend was not in the vehicle at the time. I was saddened at John's death because he had always been very nice to me and came to my defense when one of the bikers was threatening me. During the news footage I discovered he had been under surveillance by the FBI for drugs trafficing, prostitution and other illegal activites. That side of him I had never seen. His younger brother was anti-drugs and a very nice guy, we did not meet him until he came home from Vietman in 70-71. John "Burrito" Klimes murder has never been solved. If you go the the McCook Police department website, the open murder is posted there. This book filled in some of the information I was not aware of. Interesting read!
fascinating........2006-09-12
Pretty good read, it did repeat the info quite a bit over and over.
But still a very good look into the lives of the Biker gang.

Book Description
Coping with death is never easy. It comes at all the wrong times, to all the wrong people. Even the deaths of those who say they are ready to go are very hard on family and loved ones. As friends of the bereaved, what can you do and say to bring some measure of comfort?
Drawing on her own experience of being widowed at a young age, and combining it with the words of survivors who have lost mothers and children, husbands, grandparents and siblings, Lynn Kelly offers a simple but profound little book of advice. Don't Ask for the Dead Man's Gold Clubs--so called because in fact people will ask--is an invaluable guide to troubling times. There are four sections: What to Do Now, What to Do Over Time, What Not to Do, and the particularly difficult situations of Suicide, Stillbirth, and Miscarriage. The advice is practical, heartfelt, direct, insightful. Let your friend know how you feel. Express sympathy to all the family members. Talk about the dead person and not be afraid to say his or her name. Write a fond memory or send a picture. Bring food. Listen. Record a new phone message. Remember holidays. Keep giving hugs. And never: Criticize arrangements. Assume that it's a blessing. Make parallels with animals. Say I know how you feel. Do something without asking. And don't ever, ever ask for the dead man's golf clubs.
t is the human experience shared, and how to be a true friend at the time of greatest need.

Excellent Resource!!!.......2001-12-29
I just found this book recently and read through it in one evening. Since I've been through several deaths in the last two years (father, sister-in-law, babies, pet and friendships), I can attest to the accuracy of comments from many of those who contributed to the book through interviews. This is an EXCELLENT reference book for helping those (who don't know what to do) learn what is helpful to support friends, co-workers and even family, experiencing the pain of grief and the stages of grieving. If you're looking for others who've experienced what you've experienced (either through support or non-support) in the death of a loved one...you are likely to find it here. If you are looking for a source of information on what you can do to 'be present' for someone you care about who is going through grief, you'll find that information here. Thank you, Lynn, for this book!
Honesty and Compassion Is The Key.......2000-09-20
I know Lynn Kelly personally as her 'little' sister was a good friend of mine in Wyoming. I remember when Lynn lost her husband and was left with three small children to care for. I remember how devastating it was to her and her sister Ginge. I remember feeling total disbelief when her husband died because 'bad things don't happen to good people', or so I thought.
My sister handed me this book to read this week-end because in it were quotes from my brother-in-law regarding the death of their son in a boating accident four years ago. I was so impressed with the questions Lynn posed and how they were answered by those she interviewed. I immediately wanted to buy this book for the Hospice Organization that I am part of.
Honesty and compassion are so important in dealing with your own grief or helping others to do so. It is unbelievable how cruelty by others is so unintentiona but yet so destructive. People just don't stop to think about what they are saying to some one who is grieving and Lynn pointed that out in a very constructive way.
I am going to purchase this book and donate it to the Hospice Library in Sidney, Nebraska. We face every day wondering what to say to those who are dying and to the loved ones what have just lost someone. This book gives a true, honest insight to grief. It also would help those who are grieving know that what they are feeling is okay.

Book Description
Members of the Mystery au Lait Café book club can't get enough of the Midnight Mystery Series-until the books' terrifying crimes begin to happen for real in the quiet town where the club meets. Someone is imitating the Midnight Mystery murders and killing off the book club, one member at a time. Meanwhile, sales of the series skyrocket as attention is drawn to the books and to the club where the craze began.
When both the ex-wife and current girlfriend of local musician Peter Petursson are terrorized, many conclude that Peter's is the cruel hand behind the reenactments. But there are still leads to follow and evidence to be gathered . . .
Perhaps one of the book club members has a twisted side that just hasn't
shown itself over coffee and cookies at the meetings. Maybe the café owner is willing to lose a few loyal customers in exchange for a flurry of new ones. Or maybe the publisher simply knows good publicity when he sees it.
Customer Reviews:
The Dead of Midnight.......2004-08-22
Im a 14-year-old that lives in New York and this 360 page thrill ride caught from the very first sentence. It is a very interesting plot with the copy-cat murders. Yet the reveiling of the murderer caught me off guard, the most unexpected character in the story. I love how the descriptions were accurately executed enough to get you inside the reader's mind. This book takes a grip on the reader and does not let go. I recommend this book to anyone who likes crime investigations and a good mystery.
Nearly right !.......2003-11-26
A group of mystery story fans meets regularly to review the latest thrillers but when the plots of a particular author begin to play out in real life, and some of the book club members are murdered in the same style as those in the latest book, people really start to look over their shoulders. It's an interesting premise and though I believe that the author threw in too many unnecessary characters as red herrings, perhaps her style will improve with more experience.
Book Clubs, Coffee and Murders.......2002-12-27
Members of a book club hungrily read each installment of the Midnight Mystery Novels. The discussions are held at the local coffee book club and draw a big crowd. In this tightknit accidents and murders start to occur with similarities to the plot of each book. Sarah Peterson is the first victim and why recovers from her injuries she receives a call from the family lawyer. It seems her mother bequeath her journals and writings to her and she is to take delivery of them on her twenty fifth birthday. Soon after receiving them they are stolen and more accidents happen. Everyone has a motive or reason to cause
these acts to happen but who is copycatting the plots of the book. Hunter started out with a great plot idea, use a book club as a backdrop for murder. After that she has a hard time holding the plot together so she adds more characters and actions to move it along. This weighs the book down and makes it hard to accept the ending. As a debut novel she has good ideas and hopefully her next editor will have her write a tighter plot.
interesting, but somewhat strange mystery.......2002-09-14
The members of Winnipeg's Mystery Au Lait Cafe book club cannot get enough of the Midnight Mystery novels. However, the excitement that the series has brought turns to terror when someone decides life imitates art by killing off club members using scenes from the novels. The police look for the author Walter White without much success.
Accountant Sarah Petursson finds that someone steals recently found journals written by her mother. Still Sarah continues her search for her father's identity. Meanwhile reporter Cady Brown begins to close in on the agent of the mysterious White. Someone harasses Cady and Sarah with the only link between them being the latter's ex husband Peter who is the journalist's boyfriend. As the murder mystery and Sarah's personal search link, a ghost tries to guide her. Sales for the mystery novels explode and rumors abound that a new sixth book is being released. Everyone seeks clues inside the tales as no one wants to become the next victim.
THE DEAD OF MIDNIGHT is an interesting, but somewhat strange mystery tale that has a lot going for it, especially suspense, but contains too many red herrings that leave the audience somewhat confused at times. Still, Sarah is a wonderful protagonist and the club members are an intriguing group who start off as friends, but quickly suspect one another. Loaded with incredible layers of suspense, readers will find this is an engaging novel as Catherine Hunter hooks audience into wanting to know who is the killer, what happened to the journals, and does the sixth book, if it exists, contain clues to the next murder?

Not what you expected, eh?.......2003-11-12
Before I get on to my review, let me comment on someone else's. There IS a whole chapter talking solely about the Succubus Club, you know. And if you read that whole chapter, it tells how he kept it around without Kine finding out. Anyway...
From the first sight of this book, you know that you're in for quite a treat. The artwork on the cover - a painting - is exquisite, as most of White Wolf's artwork is. Even the way the title of the book is written lets you know it's gonna be good. Moving right along, then... This book goes into great detail on every type of party (used liberally in the book) you want in your story, from the Toreador's Ball to the Sabbat pack's Vaulderie. Unlike some people, I still think that it was wise to go into such detail. There are storytellers who would be happy to use any of the information found in the book, but there's always that Golden Rule. Have fun. If you don't like everything they've given you here, change some things. This book inspired ideas in my head about the social life of Kindred that I've not thought of before. It's a great read if you are interested in the social life of Kindred and Cainite alike and I suppose, if you're looking at this review, you are.
Not what I was hoping for.......2003-07-22
Sometimes WW puts out books that are too detailed or two vague or too broad. "The Succubus Club" is a bit of all three. You see, there is supposed to be a "succubus club," the toughest Kindred hangout in the World of Darkness but this book isn't about that place (which is what I was expecting it to be). No, instead its about organizations, meeting places, parties, etc that Kindred can have when they wish to hang out to brag, fight, or just be social. I think there was enough information in all the other books to allow me to have a multitude of such events for my own players. This book is too detailed and frankly too limiting in that it stiffles some of the creativity that can make the game truly scary for players. At the same time, it is vague on certain principles such as how do you hid the place from mortals or enemies. And finally I was deeply disappointed that the focus isn't on the Succubus Club itself. I mean, really, I have the CD for it; where is the description of the place?

Even if that means wearing pantyhose and putting herself on a curse diet." "Then her wallet goes missing. And Bennie's life goes crazy." "It's not just that one of her associates has dyed her hair pink. Or that another's old-world Italian mother gives Bennie the evil eye. But someone posing as the outspoken, blue-eyed, blond attorney is wreaking havoc around town, apparently determined to destroy everything Bennie loves. Only one person can pull off this double deception - Bennie's identical twin sister, Alice Connelly. But as far as Bennie knows, Alice left Philly long ago and never looked back." High Fantasy in an Unexpected Form.......2007-05-07
It is rare to find an author who refuses to conform to the cliches of the genre and has the unmitigated gall to blaze a new trail, critics be damned! Gordon Morrow is such an author. His passion for his characters comes through in living color through their very human interactions. A vision of his particular fantasy world comes across to the reader as vibrant, alive, and different. In "Maps" he starts us expertly on a multi-book journey with an unusual combination of classic adventure and surprising twists.
An excellent first novel -- please keep them coming, but much faster! =)
A must own!!!!.......2006-10-21
MAPS is an absolute delight! Morrow knows these characters so well that he describes them in expert and loving detail. The story is funny, exciting, and incredibly fun to read. The characters are so real that you have little choice but to fall in love with each of them. They fight, they feel, they make love! Morrow has captured the most important element of story telling: truth.
The truth he captures is the realness of his characters. The story is brilliant, the settings are amazing, the action is gripping, the romance is sweet as nectar, and everything just clicks. But it is the "realness" of Gar and Treva and everyone that makes this a wonderful novel that should be read again and again.
I can't recommend this story enough! If you are a fan of fantasy, a fan of fiction, or even a fan of great art - this book is a must own!
All I can say, Mr. Morrow, is that I hope volume 2 is available for purchase soon. I feel like a junkie who needs a Harebell fix now!
Please let your publisher know that I would be more than happy to preorder DMC volume 2 as soon as possible. Want my credit card number? :o)
Pure genius!.......2006-09-24
This book is filled with action, comedy, and romance from start to finish. I can't get enough of it. I eagerly await book two, and I shall read anything this man writes. This book kept me intrigued long after finishing it. I recommed this book to any who enjoy a good and invigorating novel.
No wussy magic users here.......2006-08-16
Not since Terry Prachett had a I had a good laugh in a fantasy story. Gordons characters are enjoyable and user friendly (you'll get a new meaning of THAT term after reading this) and don;t hold back on anything. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and as this being the first (of many adventures) for these characters, I look forward to reading more adventures with the Dead Magicians Club.
Review for Dead Magician's Club.......2006-04-16
DMC: Maps is a great book for lovers of humor and fantasy. The characters are very fleshed out and the story is very vivid. You'll feel you're there with the characters the entrie way.

Don't Ask for the Dead Man's Golf Clubs : What to Do and Say (and What Not to) When a Friend Loses a Loved One
ASIN: 0967268613 |
Book Description
People from across the country who have lost family members dear to them provide practical suggestions on what friends can do to comfort a friend. This book emphasizes the importance of support from friends. Comments include what to say, what to write and how to help now as well as over time. The book also includes advice on what not to do.
Widowed at age 34 and left with three small children, author Lynn Kelly said she wrote the book because so many people asked her what they should say and do for a friend who lost a loved one.
"Some friends do things that are so incredibly kind that you can never begin to repay them," Kelly said. "On the other hand, while no friend wants to say or do the wrong thing in this situation, they sometimes do, and it hurts.
"I did some research and found little available for those who wanted to support a grieving friend. I knew what I thought was helpful, but I wondered what others thought, so I decided to find out. I interviewed people across the country, ages 17 to 90, from all walks of life, who have suffered all kinds of loss. This book is a compilation of their suggestions as well as my own. It is meant to provide friends of the bereaved some ideas on how to comfort a friend, and in so doing, I think people will find they receive a little comfort for themselves."

What do I do? What do I say? Get the Answers Here.......2000-03-14
When a friend suffers the death of a loved one -- mother, father, sibling, spouse or worst of all, a child -- most of us find ourselves most inappropriately tongue-tied. "What do I say; What do I do; How do I handle this?" we ask ourselves in a surge of emotion that can reach the level of panic. All too often, our response is to say, do and handle nothing at all, leaving the bereaved in isolation and ourselves tormented by guilt because we couldn't bring ourselves to be there for them. Now, however, there is a reference manual fit to solve that problem once and for all. Despite the whimsical nature of its title, "Don't Ask for the Dead Man's Golf Clubs" is a treasure trove of very serious advice drawn by Lynn Kelly through interviews with hundreds of people from all walks of life who have suffered the loss of loved ones. Let them tell you what you should or, more importantly, should not say or do to friends in time of grief. Follow their advice and never again will you be at a loss for words when words are most desperately needed. Kelly's effort is more than a book; it is a public service.

I have often felt awkward when a friend's loved one has died; I never seem to know quite what to say or do. This book offers excellent advice about what you can do (and what you should not do) to comfort a friend who has lost a loved one.
It's about time!.......1999-10-12
Thank God somebody finally wrote a book about this.
I found this book to be extraordinariliy meaningful. It helped me get through a very tough time -- my friend's father committed suicide and I wanted to help her, but I didn't know what to do.
The book, which I recommend to anyone who has ever felt awkward in trying to help a friend cope with loss, offered real suggestions from people who have been there. It was friendly and practical and I appreciated that.
A compilation of about 200 people who have delt with a death, the book packs punch and drips in credibility. It's most definitely a must read for anyone who wants to help a friend.
