Streetwise cop Eve Dallas and her trusty sidekick Peabody face a methodical killer in this latest addition to the In Death series by J.D. Robb, better known as the bestselling author Nora Roberts.
In the late 21st century, on the streets of New York City, a street sleeper is found murdered, his diseased heart removed with surgical precision. His death would typically drop to the bottom of a list of senseless and inexplicable killings, but Lieutenant Dallas, who "would stand for the dead and the living," is not about to let that happen. When her research uncovers similar crimes in several cities that were dropped under mysterious circumstances, Dallas knows she's facing a killer cruel enough to prey on the weakest in society and powerful enough to conspire an extensive coverup.
To complicate matters further, Dallas faces an equally troubling threat to her career when she's linked to the death of a fellow cop. Now she must fight to restore her good name as well as track down the killer.
In Conspiracy in Death, Roberts creates a futuristic world of evil that Eve Dallas negotiates through tough talk and brute force. While Robb crafts the crimes with great care, she assumes a familiarity with the characters that new readers will lack. But fans of the In Death series and newcomers alike will enjoy the thrill of the chase as Eve Dallas sets out to get her man. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien

Customer Reviews:
A New Eve!.......2007-08-20
Someone is killing the homeless of New York, in the year 2058, and removing their body parts! As Lieutenant Eve Dallas unravels the mystery behind who is killing them and why (affectionately known as the "sidewalk sleeper murders"), she is forced to face an adversary who will stop at nothing, including framing her for murder, to get her thrown off the case. Torn between a love for the job, a pursuit for the truth, and fighting to keep the one thing that she REALLY loves, besides Roarke, her badge, Eve is stripped of everything, and for the first time in the series, we see Eve really vulnerable and hurting (even too sad to spare with Summerset, who we all know she has a love/hate relationship with). With her true friends support, Eve continues her journey in discovering the truth, no matter what the consequences. And we all learn how really important her careeer and badge are.
If you love the "in death" series, you will love this book as well. You even get an opportunity to see Dr. Mira, Feeney, McNab, Peabody, Baxter, Webster (old lover of Eve's), and Commander Whitney. And I finally find out how Trueheart and Dr. Louise's characters are introduced into the "in death" series. [I must admit that I have not read the series in order, so finding out these things is always helpful]. I highly recommend this book.
One of My Favorites in the Series!.......2007-08-12
Another winning book in the "...IN DEATH" series, this one finds Eve fighting for justice for the lower class citizens of New York.
After finding a street sleeper dead in his crib, his heart surgically removed, it doesn't take Eve long to figure out that there's some type of conspiracy involved within the medical community. When the threats become personal and Eve is forced to hand over her weapon and her badge, her personal life takes a turn for the worse.
This is a very emotional Eve & Roarke read, and highly recommended!
Edgy and smart read!.......2007-07-30
Great read and kept you guessing until the end. I also found the medical side of this book rather interesting. It is definitely something we could encounter in our future so not only was the story amazing, but it also addresses some of the current issues we have now in a more futuristic setting. Great book!
Enjoy!

Excellent.......2007-07-19
Nora Roberts Rocks! Lt. Eve Dallas makes the best protagonist and it's like a ongoing series so there is always a new story!
Perhaps a bit biased, but.... .......2007-04-05
I'm reviewing this with the benefit of hindsight. Having read many books in the series since, I look at this one as a precursor to a later book, in which cop death is a very prominent aspect of the plot.
This book merely prepares Eve for what she must face later on. It seems to me that is the purpose of the IN DEATH series. To watch more than just the EVOLUTION of Eve. More, to watch her GROWTH. While she might not grow that much in this one, per se, the seeds are planeted... and you have an EXCELLENT story to enjoy. You're introduced to many more details about characters that are still quite young to readers.
I do agree that you have to read these stories in order, however. I inadvertently picked up a story out of order, not realizing it at the time, and didn't really follow it until I'd read the ones immediately before it. Going back, I realized that there's a reason this is a series. It must be read in sequence or you miss something.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Pain Killer OxyContin, a potent painkiller containing opium-derived oxycodone as its key active ingredient, was first sold in 1996 as a treatment for cancer patients and other chronic pain sufferers. From the start, the drug's manufacturer aggressively marketed its patented time-release formula as a breakthrough in the effort to reduce prescription drug abuse. It wasn't long, however, before thrill-seeking teenagers shattered that illusion of safety; by simply crushing an "Oxy," they were able to tap into a high so seductive it would come to dominate their lives. Some patients, seeking relief from pain, also found themselves drawn to the drug's dark side. Pain Killer takes readers on a journey of discovery that begins with the true story of Lindsay, a high-school cheerleader in Virginia who gets hooked on Oxys, and expands outward to explore the critical issues of legitimate pain management, prescription drug abuse, and how the misuse of science by the drug industry threatens the public good. With the fast-rising abuse of prescription drugs by young people ringing alarm bells within government, the how and why behind the OxyContin disaster is a gripping read not only for parents, but also for medical professionals, community leaders, business executives, and all those concerned with this crisis. The dangers described in Pain Killer also reverberate far beyond the threat from a single drug at a particular moment in time. The focus of our government's war on drugs has clearly misled many of us into thinking that only illegal drugs smuggled from beyond our borders can be abused. As Meier tells the dramatic story, some of the most deadly substances are produced and sold legally right here at home.THE EXTRAORDINARY AND TRUE STORY OF OXYCONTIN EQUAL PARTS crime thriller, medical detective story, and business expos, Pain Killer takes a hard-hitting look at how a powerful drug touted as the salvation for millions triggered a national tragedy. At its inception, the legal narcotic OxyContin was seen as a pharmaceutical dream, a "wonder" drug that would herald a sea change in medical care while reaping vast profits for its maker. It did do that; but it also unleashed a public health crisis that cut a swath of despair and crime through unsuspecting small towns, suburbs, and cities across the country. As reports of OxyContin overdoses made front-page and network news, doctors, narcotics agents, regulators, industry executives, and lawmakers raced in, scrambling to slow the damage. Behind it all stood one of America's wealthiest families, and a drug company whose relentless promotion helped fuel the problem Written by award-winning journalist Barry Meier, whose special report in the New York Times triggered national interest in OxyContin, Pain Killer chronicles the rise of the multibillion dollar pain management industry and lays bare its excesses and abuses.
Customer Reviews:
Clearly a one-sided view replayed over and over and over...........2005-01-24
I have read and heard so many negative things about Oxycontin that I can't keep silent about this any longer! I am a chronic pain patient who was on Oxycontin for many years. I also participated in one of their early drug trials for chronic pain, so I have personally contributed input to Purdue about how this medicine affected my body and mind. It was truly a lifesaver for me at the time, as it allowed me to return to work on a full-time basis. (When I say full-time, I REALLY mean FULL-TIME! I had two full-time 40 hr./week jobs plus I designed a bi-monthly magazine on a free-lance basis. I have several inoperable conditions which cause me to suffer constant, intractable pain on a daily basis.
I tried all natural alternatives such as chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, meditation, herbal diets and others for several years before finally applying to Purdue's clinical trial for chronic back pain, in which Oxycontin was being used for pain relief. By the time I started the trial I could hardly sit in my office chair for more than 15 minutes. I had tried other medications new to the market at the time including Trazadone, which put my heart into severe arrhythmia for days after taking only one dose. Other drugs had intolerable side effects; Oxycontin did not. Instead, I received a steady dosage of pain relief medication which did not make me 'high', sleepy nor nauseated. I was overjoyed to have my quality of life returned to me!
After being in the 3-year clinical trial for a year and a half, I was told that the trial was being suddenly halted due to the bad press that Oxycontin was receiving. The company which handled the clinical trial for Purdue did not want to be involved so they just dropped all participants, leaving us with only a few pills on hand and no referral to a pain management doctor, as they had initially promised. I was fortunate to find a doctor at the 11th hour who would accept me as a pain patient.
Without getting into all the details of 'life afterwards', it should suffice for me to mention that Oxycontin can be a worthwhile and helpful drug in the hands of a chronic pain patient. A person in pain does NOT get 'high' from opiates. Instead, the medicine is used up by the pain receptors in the brain and never reaches the 'pleasure centers'. Pain patients feel ONLY RELIEF FROM PAIN.
I sincerely wish this bad press would stop as it is doing a great injustice to the chronic pain patient. If a person wants to get 'high', they can take Oxycontin or they can take a slew of other drugs OR they can simply turn to alcohol, which is not only legal but is also widely available! I can guarantee that more young people are killed by the effects of alcohol than by Oxycontin. And yes, they can still sniff glue or smoke pot or take any number of synthetic substances such as Ecstasy and get their buzz that way. Oxycontin and Purdue are not the villains here; instead, we need to look to ourselves for responsibility and sometimes to the parents for their lack of responsibility. And ultimately, the person taking the drug is the one who has the REAL responsibility -- not only to themselves, but to everyone around them who might be affected one day by their bad decisions.
Let's put the blame where it belongs and STOP punishing the chronic pain patients, who are only trying to have some quality of life. Thank you for listening - now won't you please help us by spreading the word that we deserve to have our dignity restored and the quality of life returned to us - even if that means we have to take Oxycontin in order to be able to live?
Thank you.......KO

From Foxy to Oxy: The Perils of OxyContin.......2004-06-23
As a recovered alcoholic and drug addict, and now a substance abuse counselor in a methadone clinic, I have seen the ravages of opiate abuse firsthand. The old days of methadone clinics being exclusively for down-and-out heroin junkies are long gone. Now, the majority of clientele in methadone clinics is for narcotic pain medication dependency and/or addiction. I have always been interested in finding out the true story behind the rise of the now notorious OxyContin, and after reading Painkiller, I was not disappointed. It has an interesting approach in that it simultaneously tells the origin of OxyContin in a chronological fashion while describing the devastating effects OxyContin had on a high-school age cheerleader. It is easy to take the side of the primary individual from whose perspective the author builds his indictment against the manufacturer's of OxyContin, Purdue-Frederick. The individual is a doctor who practices in the poor areas of West Virginia coal country. However, the addict population in general has always been very creative and innovative in their attempts to find out the ways any drug, whether illegal or prescription, can produce the best highs. And, even though Purdue-Frederick did indeed have a very aggressive incentive campaign to lure physicians into switching all their eligible patients away from lighter, and more traditional narcotic pain medications, they cannot, in my opinion, be seen as the scapegoats the author tries desperately to make them out to be in the OxyContin crisis that developed. Pain management has always been an inexact science at best, and in this author's educated opinion, why should those who will always do their best to end-run around the proper use of this, and other legitimate medications, hold those hostage who use them for their intended purposes. Painkiller, whatever the reader feels personally about the debate concerning OxyContin, is still an excellent read, and details the origin of OxyContin, and the history, both negative and positive, of opiods and their use for pain management in the United States.
fabulous book.......2004-06-13
Terrific piece of investigative journalism. I could not put the book down. It's also a thoughtful and important statement about the increasingly blurred line between legal and illegal drugs.
Must read for Victims of Cancer Pain.......2004-03-18
Although a section concerning pre-90's events was slow going (why it's a 4 & not a 5 star), this was a do-not-put-down-until-finished book for me. I wish we had read this book last August. The very first question we asked the oncologist was "is Oxcontin addictive?" -- Response "no" -- WRONG - as Meier reports, even the medically-intended patient can become addicted. Meier also points out the danger of mixing anti-depressents and Oxcontin -- perhaps the oncologist should have read this book since an anti-depressent was prescribed to simulate chemo-affected appetite (fortunately we have moral objections to anti-depressents & it was never taken). Repeatedly throughout his sensitive handling of the need for pain relief by cancer patients, Meier reminds the reader that other non-narcotics should be used first -- and that does not mean going from Advil to Oxy! Unfortunately the oxcontin was no more effective than the over-the-counter asprin, perhaps not all patients can digest either the wax or the acrylic shield, yet Purdue seems to have ignored that possibility in their agressive marketing while so brainwashing cancer care doctors that only increased amounts of their money maker are offered. This is an excellent exposure of the marketing ploys used by drug companies, Purdue is not alone, with the resulting cost to all of us in both higher prescription bills, addition and the fight against it. Reading Pain Killer should make you think twice the next time you see a TV ad for a prescription drug.

Book Description
The mysterious death of Ron Brown has caused much controversy and suspicion, and in this investigative book, Cashill takes a close look at Brown's checkered career as Clinton fund-raiser and commerce secretary and consequently exposes the Clintons' dirty, relentless practices for getting financial backing. Cashill answers the most trenchant questions surrounding Brown's rise and fall: Why did his plane crash? Why did the White House suppress an investigation? What was the purpose of Brown's trade missions? And what larger forces caused the Clintons to seek international cash? Using the case of Ron Brown's untimely death as a touchstone for the Clintons' unseemly and unsavory practices in the White House, Cashill explores the seedy depths of the most corrupt adminstration in American history during its two most desperate years and focuses directly on the machinations of the direst threat to today's political scene, Hillary Clinton.

Not just the sausage making, but the whole abattoir.......2006-11-23
Nearly flawless telling of another unreported tale. When a nitwit like Cindy Sheehan can get on TV any time she wants by uttering inanities and lies, while this book gets ignored, we know a lot about the press in this country. This is some serious "truth to power" folks.....Read the tale of Clinton's creation of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and tell me how this wasn't a payback.
There is little point refuting the ad hominem attacks. These folks have not read the book, or suffer from that common disease of the left, "one-drop" thinking. In other words, one drop of evil, sin, or error permanently removes the sufferer from all future discussion. Therefore, it is vital to never be tainted with that drop. This is why the left feels they can shut up critics by smugly calling them racists, assuming no one else will listen again to one so thoroughly discredited. This effective way of disposing of opponents goes way back; Lenin said, "Why should we bother to reply to Kautski? He would reply to us, and we would have to reply to his reply. There's no end to that. It will be quite well enough for us to announce that Kautski is a traitor to the working class, and everyone will understand everything."
Thus the desperation to avoid any taint on either Clinton, even when the evidence is spelled out in names, dates and places. Once besmirched, they would be removed from all future thought. Only pure candidates can represent the left, and so they must define their candidates as pure and fight to the death those who propose otherwise. Just as only thugs, loonies, hypocrites, religious cranks, racists, Fascists or other nitwits could possibly question or criticize those saintly members of the pantheon. (And they think I operate on a foolish faith???)
Anyway, to the topic at hand. Jack Cashill (Clintonesque full disclosure: Jack and I go way back, having grown up near each other in New Jersey and still maintaining a close and deep friendship; honest full disclosure: I've met him at a book signing and e-mailed him a couple of times) is a smart man with a fire in his belly to expose corruption and decay wherever he finds it. That makes investigating the 8 years of Clinton a full-time job. No friend of Big Business, no lackey of any label that could not be defined, Jack evaluates and exposes whatever he turns up. For as this book amply, consistently, and with extensive footnotes and as much corroboration from folks who would never be in anyone's VRWC (except Hillary's, who defines all those who question as such) demonstrates, the Clinton years would require a lot of scouring to rise to the level of cesspool. For 4 years the only apparent purpose of the Department of Commerce was to raise money for the Clinton campaigns, and Ron Brown was the designated hustler. From chaperoning business executives to Asia, strong-arming reluctant foreigners, or promulgating policies designed to pay back those contributors, the Clintons and their increasingly reluctant bagboy Ron Brown spent years hawking whatever they had to sell. And raising buckets of money doing so.
Well Ron had second thoughts, reluctantly departed on a poorly organized, hastily arranged trip, and died in a most mysterious manner. Those are facts. How he ended up on that hillside is the story Jack tells, and though all explanations are indeed merely conjecture, since those who know are either dead or not speaking, he makes a mighty convincing case. Read this to see how your welfare and safety have been sold, and how you got nothing from the sale but a degraded and cheesy President.
I'd dock a half-star for the incessant phony suspense "This is something Ron would only learn much later, when it was too late." Organ wheeze! The writing is corny in the beginning, but once Jack gets rolling, it is a freight-train of power as its sordid and miserable story unfolds. And photos. Two pictures? That's all? With so many characters, a few photos (or none) would have been nice. Minor quibbles in an otherwise gripping, serious book.
Great book, read it........2006-06-29
Very well written, never a dull moment. Interesting to connect the dots with other topical issues during the same presidency. A little research by the readers will show some interesting "occurrences".
the criticism lacks merit.......2005-12-28
Some critics committed an Ad Hominem fallacy by accusing Cashill of political and financial motivations.
A critic committed a Guilt By Association fallacy by associating the book with some supposedly dubious, unrelated theories. Another critic used the term "conspiracy theory" as a code word for that same fallacy.
A critic said the book has limited or no proof. We must pass judgment based on limited proof everyday as you can see in the courts, which have standards of "preponderance of evidence" and "beyond a reasonable doubt." Because of strong proof, Jesse Jackson called for a new investigation two years after Brown's death, as reported in the AP on 1/5/98. Since then the proof has only grown stronger, with this book as a watershed for completeness and new evidence. For starters, see page 274.
A critic said "the author relies just a tad bit too much on one of Brown's companions." The book shows how Nolanda Hill demonstrated her credibility and how she came to know what she does. She makes a valuable source. ABC agreed when they interviewed her on Prime Time Live. You can find the transcript easily. And the book draws on a lot of other good sources.
A critic said the book "overdoes it with the melodramatic foreshadowing. We all know what happened to Brown so there's no need to harp on what's coming in each chapter." Readers know that Brown died but they do not know how, a primary focus of the book. New and important facts await them throughout the book, including the later chapters. The book builds suspense and, in the end, delivers impressively.
Lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut.......2005-12-23
How low does a man have to stoop before he uses another's death-and the deaths of 34 others in a horrific plane crash-for a political hatchet job?
"Have you no decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
The audience for this book will best be found among unreconstructed McCarthyites, folks so utterly convinced of their essential rightness on every point that they are willing to abandon all decency in pursuit of their goals. Those who feel comfortable misdirecting voters on election day, ripping out others' yard signs, and perhaps even falsifying an electronic ballot memory card or two (for a higher cause, no doubt!) should feel just fine reading a book that confirms their dearly held prejudices.
Others may wish to shower thoroughly after reading how Jack Cashill proposes to cash in on the dead, pushing the political agendas of the same folks who tried so hard to smear honored veterans like McCain and Kerry.

Awesome Reading.......2007-09-06
Very well written. A lot of research went into this book. I truly believe there was a cover up in the death of Princess Diana and it will probably never be brought to light. I loved this book and would highly recommend it.
The Murder Of Princess Diana.......2007-09-02
YES, I most defintley believe that there was a cover up and consiprisy in Princess Diana's death. I believe without a doubt that she was murdered. Diana was more loved and popular than the Royal family, she was in love with a muslim and maybe pregnant. She was the peoples Princess, therefore she had more love and power than the Queen and Prince
Also she had information ( hidden ) that was removed, never to be found, by the Royal family, this information would have greatly embarressed and brought Prince Charles and his family down, The Royal family where afraid of all her information, this is absolutely a FACT, so how can this be ingnored ?
She was everything the Royal family could never be, Loving, Kind , and Giving, loving her sons enough that against the Queens wishes, Diana gave birth in the hospital, that was a firt for the Royal family. I have researched and read about this for 10 years now, and she was indeed murdered.
Some Shocking Stuff In Here!.......2007-08-18
I probably own every book ever published about Princess Diana (before, during and after her death) and found this book to contain many things I had never read before. Mr. Botham brings up theories that I discussed with my late fiance, a Brit, but was afraid to talk about in public. Since Graham lived and worked in London, and ran in 'certain circles' he knew a great deal more than I did about her untimely death. There were things he simply refused to discuss, even with me. A couple of these verboten items are in the book.
I was stunned to read that Princess Anne lost her virginity to Camilla's ex-husband, Mr. Parker-Bowles. Of course Camilla was not married at that time, but the fact that the Parker-Bowles's were involved with both brother and sister Royals seems a bit, well, incestuous.
While he mentions that the French driver who died in the crash (Henri Paul) was suspected of working with foreign intelligence, he does not mention what many other books do of his working with Israeli intelligence. Botham does note that Diana's romance with Dodi (an Egyptian) was of great concern to the Israeli government at the time. Henri Paul seems to have had his hands in all the pies. And we see what greed gets you. Dead.
This book is either very accurate and frightening, or it is chock full of lies, and should be regarded as fiction. When I was reading it I could not help but wish my fiance were still here to read it with me. He would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Diana's death was not a surprise to me at all. I knew it was only a matter of time before she left the stage. I can't believe it has been ten years since she died. My heart still aches for her sons. Time will never heal their loss. I just hope that before he dies, Mr. Al-Fayed gets some sense of justice and a sense of finality. He is not the crackpot he is made out to be. Whether he is rich, powerful, famous, liked or disliked, he is a father. He does have deep feelings. After all these years, he still doesn't have answers. It all seems so sad on so many levels.
Pretty Good Book.......2005-12-09
I thought this was a pretty good book. I disagree that Princess Diana would not have married Dodi. I believe she felt a little desperate at this point. She desperately wanted another child before it was too late. And I believe Dodi was perfect for her. Dodi had done a few things in the past when he was young as alot of people have done. Also, remember she was scheduled to go back to London the day she died but did not go back because Dodi wanted her to stay. This one point makes me believe that she knew why he wanted her to say (proposal of marriage). If she was not interested, she would never have cancelled her plans to go back to London. Some people want the public to believe she would never have married him because that was one of the BIG reasons why she might have been 'eliminated'. I have read TONS of material about her accident and am not convinced that it was an accident. But I don't believe anything will ever come of it!
A gutsy "tabloid" examination .......2005-09-01
Though I don't agree with some major points in the premises laid out, I wanted to commend the author for putting out the murder stance in a backed-up logical way. It is a sham to not acknowledge that Diana was revered by many but to a small faction she was a MAJOR nuisance.
I don't think that Diana was pregnant OR planning to marry Dodi. I agree that Diana wanted revenge for the humiliation that she suffered- and she could do this by her "scene stealing humanitarianism".. But to think that she would get engaged to a playboy who had broken up with his fiance a few weeks prior- , who had drug problems and a checkered past? No way. Dodi's father has plenty of reason to espouse this theory because he was the engineer who set up this friendship in the first place. Look at the pictures of Diana on the Jonikal- she is not gayly hypnotised by the festivities- she looks like she's killling time. There were plenty of dynasties that Diana could have hooked up with- she didn't need Dodi's hand to legitimize her. It's just not believable.
That said, the rest of the theories ring true; the supposed drunk driver- Henri paul was on the MI5 payroll, and he was a light drinker who had NO signs of drunkedness- watch the tape. Yet his blood alcohol test says that his blood alcohol level was 3X over the limit- oh and yes contained carbon monoxide- indicative of a suicide- somebody simply switched the blood tests with another guy at the morgue that night.Additionally, the blueprint of the "murder crash plan" was outlined to others at another time, it is acknowledged in the dark force circles that making a car crash look like an accident is a very effective assasination method. The road that the death car traveled on- has numerous cameras poised on it- are we to believe that evry single security camera was off that night? P'shaw. Also, why did Henri Paul take that roundabout route , why were the security proedures in place discarded at the last minute- after Henri Paul had a little tete-a-tete at the Ritz with Dodi? ( at around eleven, after Dodi and Diana had enjoyed some wine with dinner- I think between the two of them they just didn't smell the rat that was there. )

Oh, where do I start........2006-04-23
Well, for one. I didn't see what Kurt's sex life had to do with the book's investigation. In fact I don't need to know what he did between closed doors, and frankly neither does anyone else. Also this book is long and drawn out. Though, there is a lot of facts that point out some weird unsettling clues about his death, there also isn't any obvious evidence that Courtney Love was behind it. Hell, I highly doubt that she could devise a plot to murder her husband, when she can't even stay sober long enough to perform on Jay Leno. And Finally. Even if Kurt Cobain was murdered, do you think this book could bring him back. No. Be it suicide or homicide, he died and unfortuneately for his family, friends, and fans there's no changing that.
This book was made for the purpose of getting money from angry, grief stricken younger fans of Nirvana.
Totally wasted.......2005-12-18
So Courtney lied.
So Courtney is a addict who is always stoned.
That is all the real evidence these two have to sell their theory that she murdered Kurt.
They must be aspiring to write for the National Inquirer.
Misleading title.......2005-12-14
This book would have been a waste of time even if it had been free.
It doesn't answer the question in its title as it has no answers it is only a book of questions . . . what if this, what if that, what if . . .?
I might as well have been spending the weekend with by sister and brother-inlaw and their 2 year old who only asks why this, why that, why, why, why?
It was a poorly thought out book that has managed to sucker in thousands of buyers.
A waste of trees and time.......2005-12-14
I have never read anything so poorly written before.
This "book" is a waste of time and of paper.
Looks at both sides of the story, exhaustively researched.......2005-08-14
This book has been popularized as the one that contains private investigator Tom Grant's theory that Courtney Love hired someone to kill Kurt Cobain. I read it thinking it would be borderline wacko with the conspiracy theory. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was an exhaustively researched account of the history of Nirvana, Kurt, Courtney, the days surrounding Kurt's death, and the investigation of the incident by the Seattle PD. The authors do present Grant's theory and his main arguments pointing to murder, but they are quick to point out that there absolutely no smoking gun, nothing explicity incriminating Courtney. They even point out some failing's in Grant's work and theories. Their main case is that there are enough unanswered questions and questionable actions during the investigation that the case should be re-opened. In fact, most people who review Grant's theory, when polled, say that the investigation should be re-opened to lay to rest all the discrepancies that he turned up.
The authors took nothing at face value when writing this book. Anytime someone claimed to have a degree, or that an incident happened, or the police were called, or that they said a certain thing, anything, the authors looked it up and verifyed whether it was true. If they couldn't verify it, they identify it as a claim. A lot of Courtney's official bio seems to be her wacky brand of lies and tirades, since the authors found many, many discrepancies in her statements, especially those to her biographer, Melissa Rossi.
Courtney is a fascinating woman, a spectacle, a force to be reckoned with. The authors remind us that no matter how much Courtney bashing goes on, we have to remember that our icon Kurt did love and trust her, and she was one of the few people he was close to. The portrayal of Courtney in this book has made me want to learn more about this dynamic woman.
Read this book to see an excellent case laid out in front of you, and then see what you think. I'm reading the author's 2004 follow-up, Love & Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain next.

This collection of articles from Paranoia magazine contains the usual hodgepodge of theories about the JFK assassination, UFO cover-ups, and CIA mind-control techniques. But it also has a few surprises, like the suggestion that David Bowie has been in contact with alien beings ever since the days of Major Tom and Ziggy Stardust, or that Paul McCartney may have ordered a hit on his former bandmate John Lennon. While the editors admit in their foreword that they're willing to sacrifice plausibility for the sake of entertainment value, conspiracy theory purists may be more frustrated than amused by items like this rather bizarre theory about Star Trek: "When we analyze [Captain James T. Kirk's] name, we first notice that James was the brother of Jesus.... Kirk's middle name was Tiberius, a Roman general and emperor. 'Kirk' is the most common European-language spelling of the word we know in English as 'church.' Put these all together: (brother of) Jesus, Roman (emperor), church, and what do you have? It was the Roman Catholic Church that was, symbolically, in control of the Enterprise."
Book Description
Psst. Yeah, you. Come closer. Want to uncover some conspiracies? They're all here ... who killed JFK, UFOs, secret societies, espionage, mind control, suspicious deaths, and hidden history. For anyone who has ever been tantalized by mainstream media coverage of conspiracy theories, but always suspected there was much more they weren't being told, The Conspiracy Reader is a must read.

The conspricy writer's conspiracy...........2003-11-29
Haven't read any of this conspiracy stuff for some time;so thought I'd give this book a go.Nothing has changed, just the same old rehashed babble.Take UFO's for instance, the same old stuff is still being regurgitated from what I read 30 years ago.The only things that change are the names, places and the proponents of these wacky accusations and fanatical suppositions.
It's amazing that they have kept this up for so long and after all this time nothing has been proven.Maybe it's another government conspiracy that keeps these writers going. It takes one to know one.
They even dump on Erich von Daniken, calling him an amateur;at least I found his enjoyable supposition. This book would like you to think that they have things figured out;sprinkling words like science, research, analysis, experts, study, etc.,throughout the text in an attempt to give it some credibility.
This book was published in 1998,but don't be fooled ,a lot of this stuff is just a rehash from decades ago.Just because some conspiracy theorist makes a statement, backed up by some 'expert',doesn't make it so.
Maybe I'll check back in a few years, but I don't expect to find anything new.
Fills in some of the blank spots.......1999-09-23
I read this cover to cover and liked most every essay in it. I had heard about many of these conspiracies, but only in headline fashion. These articals dig deeper and give the reader insight as to where the various allegations arose from. It's easy to say "the CIA started AIDS" or this group or that group was responsible for funnelling crack cocaine into the ghetto, but here a reader can see the stories and logic surrounding the allogations. Some of the articals were a bit brief and the one concerning the Apocalypse seemed out of place, but the rest should serve as a good springboard by which enthusiasts can begin research of their own.
Most Entertaining Collection of Conspiracies.......1999-08-04
Al Hidell and Joan D'Arc are probably the hippest of the various conspiracy researchers and compilers.
trash it.......1999-06-26
I just finished throwing this book in the trash. I started noticing a trend in many of the articles - bash the Catholic Church. They blame some sinister church conspiracy for almost every strange happening that occurs. It seems that was their agenda in compiling this book.

He STILL does not explain!.......2005-02-16
Martyn Gregory STILL does not explain why the following happened!
1. Why was a partial embalming done on Princess Diana while she lay in the French hospital.
2. Why did street cleaners come into the tunnel just a few hours after the accident to clean the street where the accident was.
3. Why did they reopen the tunnel just hours after the accident.
4. Why was Henri Paul's blood packed with carbon monoxide.
5. Why wouldn't anyone let Henri Paul's family do an independent study on Henri Paul's blood
6. Why were witnesses that saw certain things eliminated from the investigation. And on and on and on. In my mind, Princess Diana was 'eliminated' by top professionals....and they got away with it. Read 'The Hidden Evidence and 'The Murder of Princess Diana'!
Interesting book but he sure hates alFayed.......2000-10-12
I'm still in the process of reading this book but two things are already apparent to me. 1. Mr. Gregory seems to have a powerful dislike for Mohamed al Fayed. 2.Since the wildest conspiracy theories don't hold up he seems to think that means none of the rumors could be true. I agree that the Princess likely did die in an accident but to absolutely rule out foul play is going too far. Many of Mr. Gregory's debunkings seem very well thought out and informative, even probable, I just have a feeling that something is missing.
Don't waste your money on this one.......2000-08-31
Martyn Gregory's account of the couple's final journey is riddled with inaccuracies, distortions and falsehoods.
Very Interesting.......2000-08-26
It is quite obvious that Mr. Gregory has done his homework here. There were several interesting details which I had not read before. He is very anti Al Fayed. But he did strain his credibility with me when he twice mentioned that JFK was assasinated in Houston. Mr. Gregory must be very young! I enjoyed the book. He argued his "case" very convincingly.

Book Description
Was Princess Diana murdered? Or was she the victim of an innocent though tragic traffic Accident? If she was murdered, who did it? Who ordered the assassination and what were the motives behind it?
Based on information received from a veteran CIA contract agent one week prior to the crash in Paris - plus further evidence obtained from other highly placed sources, this investigative work presents an uncompromising inquiry into Diana's death.
The Authors are not just `conspiracy theorists.' They are investigative journalists with a proven track record, who dare to investigate issues side stepped by other journalists, and whose courageous work uncovered staggering evidence of a high-level conspiracy between British and U.S. Intelligence to assassinate Diana.
Endorsed by many highly placed intelligence & government sources, this book reveals the frightening truth: How British and U.S. Intelligence monitored Diana's every move;
How two secret letters written by Diana just before her death implicate the British Crown in "nefarious activities in Africa", specifically Angola;
How Diana threatened to expose the Crown's vested interests in Angola by pursuing her 'landmines campaign' in that country;
Why MI6 and the CIA resolved to kill her "on foreign soil";
How both Secret Services favored the 'traffic accident' as a deniable means of assassination; how this same method had been successful in previous 'deniable ops''; how the crash evidence was methodically suppressed, as was the info. on: the conspirators who planned, carried out and covered up this operation;
How chauffeur Henri Paul worked for MI6; how his blood sample -which underpins the 'drunk-driver accident' theory -was switched; and how all TV cameras at the crash scene were mysteriously switched off.
This thoroughly researched book reveals the shocking truth behind Diana's death. And in the process it exposes the most scandalous, closely guarded secret in the UK's history.

The Prosecution Lost the Case.......2007-02-16
The book was written in the form of a trial and the reader is the jury. Well, if I was on that jury, I would have voted for the defense. And if I was the judge, I would have thrown the case out after the prosecution finished his case for lack of evidence. The title is perfect "Hidden Evidence" as the evidence was so hidden that I couldnt find it in the book. The author makes many hypothesis but does not have any REAL support for his hypothesis.
I believe that we have not heard the full and real story of the death of Diana and was hoping to find it here - but I was disappointed. Stay clear.
Diana was murdered........2005-09-19
My beloved Princess Diana was most definitely murdered by the Establishment. This book gives hard facts to support this statement and points out inconsistencies within the investigation, both in France and England. Assasinations like this have been going on since the beginning of time, since John the Baptist. If you loved Princess Diana you must read this book. It will make you so sad to realize what was done to her.
Tepid drivel.......2003-09-15
Oh, for God's sake! What utter drivel. Diana wasn't bright enough to implicate anyone more substantial than a poorly trained manicurist.
Here's a conspiracy question to think about -- if Diana was so committed to the anti-landmines issue why did she chose Dodi Fayed as a consort? Some of his relations are huge arm dealers. Hey -- maybe THEY knocked her off!
Unbeliveably Chilling!! A must read book ~~.......2003-06-28
I couldn't put this book down. The facts that were found out about Princess Diana's death, I believe all of them. I always felt that something wasn't right about the "so called accident".After reading this book,I have no doubt that her own family { I won't mention any names},were involved in shall we say, getting the Princess out of the way. I knew that the Windors' disliked Princess Diana, but to go that far. This book gave me the chills learning that not only the British Establishment and the CIA, had something to do with her untimely death. And talk about a BOTCHED investigation!! To say the least, and now I know why.The people involved with her death and that of the others,{ofcourse Henri Paul signed his own death certificate unbeknowst to himself}.They will never be found. How sad.But there are some in the Royal House of Windsor that really know what happened. But I don't think this bothers them at all.The investigative reporters that worked so hard putting this book together for the public to decide what really happned.Truely conviced me that this was NOT an accident, that of a drunk driver and the so called Popparazzi. The mysterious Fiat Uno,the rescue team that worked on Princess Diana, in my eyes, let her die there at the crash site. And I believe they were in on this as well.I would reccomend this book to anyone that wants to really know the cold hard and truthful facts about her senseless, premetitaded death. From front to back, you won't be able to put this book down.
Big Brother is watching us.......2003-01-22
It is not a book that will make people feel safe about the world around them but it does tell, with an incredible amount of research, what probably happened re the death of Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales. So many questions unanswered by the enquiry after her death, so many facts swept under the carpet as well. There probably will be an epilogue to this book (needed as far as I am concerned) when the American Tapes of Diana's telephone conversation will come to light. Those who have listened to them (as reported in the Sunday Express of June 23, 2002) were amazed to hear, from Diana's own lips, that she was both pregnant and was going to marry Dodi Fayed. Can you imagine the establishment in Britain having to bow to a half British Egyptian child, brought up in the Muslim Faith, who could say in the future 'The King, my Brother'. I doubt it. The landmines campaign is also an eye opener (British/American military interests in danger). Murdered, of course she was. She was not the first, nor will she be the last. A word of caution to HRH Prince Michael of Albany. By standing for the truth, he, too, might find the dark forces in Britain (to quote the Queen) conspiring against him. Altogether, an excellent informative read that should raise a few eyebrows in high place.
