Book Description
Here are the books that help teach Shakespeare plays without the teacher constantly needing to explain and define Elizabethan terms, slang, and other ways of expression that are different from our own. Each play is presented with Shakespeare's original lines on each left-hand page, and a modern, easy-to-understand "translation" on the facing right-hand page. All dramas are complete, with every original Shakespearian line, and a full-length modern rendition of the text.

How does one make a play by Shakespeare accessible to those disinclined to read or see one? Or how do you make it possible for those who just don't have the time to do the play full justice, but nevertheless want to have more than just a taste of the bard, to find the time to read it? The answer is the Sixty-Minute Shakespeare series. I've got in my hands their version of Hamlet. There are two important distinctions to this edition. First, it is abridged. The core of the play is left untouched, so the play and its themes are still understandable. Famous soliloquies are also left untouched. The dialogue that fleshes out the minor characters is often abbreviated. Second, the play is rendered in the original language, but uses standard spelling. This is not a modernized version of the play.
The Sixty Minute Shakespeare series was also written to give a shorter, easier to produce version of the play for theater groups that wanted to put on a production of a Shakespearean play. Any of this series would be a great production piece for a homeschool theater group. I recommend Hamlet in particular because there are so many resources available to help young actors learn more about their roles, especially the many fine productions of Hamlet on video or DVD. A short section on staging a production gives useful advice for staging and pacing of a production.
For those who want to use this edition for a study of Hamlet, I suggest getting a study guide to help with understanding the themes of the play. The notes at the bottom of each page help with understanding some of the unfamiliar words used, but those who are not familiar with Shakespeare will benefit from additional explanations of what is happening in the text.
helpful.......2007-01-15
I have my degree in English... I like reading and teaching with this version as "help" not as a substitution. It gives a clearer understanding to Shakespeare for people who have difficulty with it.
Great for studying Hamlet!.......2007-01-10
I had to use this for a course I was taking. This book was very clear and very helpful. It definetely made reading Hamlet a lot clearer and simpler.
Helpful edition; entertaining play........2006-09-14
"Hamlet" was not a Shakespearean play I had plan on reading outside of my Movement in Theatre class and this edition made it one hundred times easier. I had to read the play in a week, so reading the modern English side made that process effortless. I then read over the original Shakespeare version when I had to focus on the character Ophelia. Overall, I found that this play was easier to read in Shakespeare's writing, as opposed to some of his other plays. The play is interesting, but I felt the ending to be boring. I "sorta" recommend.
A good reading copy.......2006-08-25
Once you get used to the layout, this is a good copy to read along with as you listen to the play. Some valuable insights too and not just for students.

Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
Well, this is pretty much porn, and not very good at that. The almost complete absence of plot, etc. The Warlord story has valkyries who are supposed to kill vampires, etc.
So, the first thing the captured valkyrie does for him is a striptease. All parties are quite braindead here it seems, hormones overactive, even for immortals where that is not supposed to be a factor.
Great for Kresley Cole fans...........2007-09-01
I'm a fan of the Immortals after Dark series so I bought this book mainly for the story of Myst the Coveted by Kresley Cole. It was pretty good. It's a short story so obviously couldn't be as involved as Emmaline's or Kaderin's stories - but it was not a disapointment. If you like KC's series it's a must buy as it fills in a lot of the blank spaces about the Forebearers and their place in the Lore. The only thing that wasn't clear was the full truth of Myst's "chain" - its power and place over her seemed a bit vague.
Sherrilyn Kenyon's story was entertaining, too. I've never read one of her BAD stories as I prefer the Dark Hunters but it didn't disappoint. It was fast-paced and full of action - if a bit far-fetched. But hey...this is escapist literature.
The down side to this book was Jaid Black's Story. In my opinion it was just plain STU-PID. Ancient Vikings living in an underground nation of that size in Alaska undetected by modern satellite, seismic and geologic equipment? Alaska? Where they are constantly looking for gold and oil? Come on! The idea for the whole culture was preposterous. It reeked of a cleaned up, less pornographic, less amusing, less believably inventive, earthly version of her Trek MiQ'an Series. At least the TM Series gets you interested in what happens to the characters and (even though I have serious issues with the psychology behind this series) you want to know what happens next. This story just left me with an incredulous grimace and a snort.
So, on the whole, I'd give Ms. Kenyon and Ms. Cole 4 stars for their stories and Ms. Black gets a 1. So on the average I give this one a 3. If you're an Immortals fan - get it. But if you're luke-warm towards Ms. Cole then just get it at the library otherwise it wouldn't be worth the money.
Worth it just for the Kresley Cole story.......2007-07-22
If you enjoy Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark Series...you NEED to read the story of Myst and Wroth. I read "hunger like no other" and "no rest for the wicked" before reading this, and "the warlord wants forever" fills in a lot about what is going on in the other books, especially "hunger like no other". I don't particularly like reading anthologies b/c I feel like the short stories don't have enough development to be truly good, but this was not the case with this story, maybe b/c I was already filled in about a lot of what was going on from reading "a hunger like no other". But this story leaves you very very very satisfied, without the feeling on being cheated. I haven't read the other stories, b/c i bought this book just to read the IAD story, and it was WELL WORTH IT!!!! It is steamier than both the other full length books in the series in my opinion!!
Buy just for the Kresley Cole story!.......2007-06-19
If you love the Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole you will love this book.
A must have for lovers of Kresley Cole.......2007-04-30
I rate all three stories here as enjoyable, good reads. And in the case of the third entry, by Kresley Cole, it adds a key increment in her Immortals After Dark series (IAD).
a) The story by Sherrilyn Kenyon in a refreshing break from her Dark Hunters series. The story is more like a fantasy island treat, and a little remininscent of Fantasy Lover, where a young woman leading a quiet life has a sexual awakening as her friends turn to a contest to give her life a little spice. It is in keeping with other stories of Ms. Kenyon's that are written with humor, and good sex.
b) Jaid Black is a great writer of erotic romantic fiction. In this story, Hunter's Oath, a contemporary woman is kidnapped into slavery by a band of roque Vikings who live underground and kidnap brides from the surface. So this is a forced seduction story. The funny part of this story is that the protagonist inadvertenly takes a powerful aphrodisiac just before her body goes up for sale, and she's got a struggle on her hands to manage the burgeoning relationship with the guy as well as the chemical effects of the aphrodisiac at the same time. Ms. Black has a similar story called Hunter's Right in a different anthology by Sherrilyn Kenyon: Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down: Three Tales of Erotic Romance. I found Hunter's Right to be better than Hunter's Oath, and they are very similar stories.
c) This is the story that every lover of Kreley Cole's IAD series should have on their shelf. It tells the story of Valkyrie Myst, the Coveted, and how she hooked up with General Nikolai Wroth, the Vampire. Valkyries usually HATE Vampires. In the two other follow-up novels, Myst and Wroth have been hanging around in the background, already a couple. In this story we see that Myst was a man-hater of long standing before she got together with Wroth. For a millenia or two she's worn a magical belt around her waist. Wroth figures out that the man who gets his hands on that belt can dominate this Valkyrie, and the tables are soon turned. ;-)
Book Description
On April 20, 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, two seniors at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, walked into their school and shot to death twelve students and one teacher, and wounded many others. It was the worst single act of murder at a school in U.S. history.
Few people knew Dylan Klebold or Eric Harris better than Brooks Brown. Brown and Klebold were best friends in grade school, and years later, at Columbine, Brown was privy to some of Harris and Klebold's darkest fantasies and most troubling revelations After the shootings, Brown was even accused by the police of having been in on the massacre--simply because he had been friends with the killers.
Now, for the first time, Brown, with journalist Rob Merritt, gets to tell his full version of the story. He describes the warning signs that were missed or ignored, and the evidence that was kept hidden from the public after the murders. He takes on those who say that rock music or video games caused Klebold and Harris to kill their classmates and explores what it might have been that pushed these two young men, from supposedly stable families, to harbor such violent and apocalyptic dreams.
Shocking as well as inspirational and insightful, No Easy Answers is an authentic wake-up call for all the psychologists, authorities, parents, and law enforcement personnel who have attempted to understand the murders at Columbine High School. As the title suggests, the book offers no easy answers, but instead presents the unvarnished facts about growing up as an alienated teenager in America today."If there is any solace to come out of a tragedy of the magnitude of the Columbine shooting, it is what lessons might be learned in its aftermath. With bravery, wit, and striking honesty, Brooks Brown and Rob Merritt allow us a glimpse into what led to that event, what happened afterward, and most importantly, why any community would be naive to think it might not happen to them, too. How thin is the line between a bully and a victim? Who is to blame, when a community is turned inside out? As No Easy Answers suggests, it may just be the community itself. And it offers up a question of that resonates after the last page is turned: What can you and I do to keep this from happening again? If you're a parent, read this with your child; if you're a teen, leave this on your parents' bedside table--and above all else, start the conversation too much of this world is unwilling to have." --
Jodi Picoult, author of the New York Times #1 bestselling novel Nineteen Minutes

Great Book.......2007-09-01
I have Writen many papers on Columbine High School when I was in school. I have looked at web site, looked at all the information that I found I have spoken with people and authority's for my papers. Brooks Browns book told quite a bit that had never been told before that shows friendship and distructive behavior. It talks about how Dylan and Eric began their friendship, unless someone who was there in the library or in the school writes a book we will never know who said what. What happened we only have the accounts that have been told to others and their family's. This is a great book and if you want to know how Eric and Dylan started off this is the book for you.
Bullying and Teasing As Possible Causes of School Violence.......2007-05-22
"No Easy Answer" is a look at the Columbine massacre from the perspective of Brooks Brown, a friend of the two shooters. As a retired middle school teacher, I can tell you that the bullying and teasing described in this book does go on. This book is a page-turner that gives the reader a look at the sociology of the present-day high school. I highly recommend "No Easy Answers" for anyone interested in learning more about school shootings. I also recommend the young adult novel "Give a Boy a Gun" by Todd Strassor.
No Easy Answers: The Truth Behind Columbine.......2007-03-14
This was a very interesting account by a young man who had some insights that few have of this most tragic event in our history. As a school administrator it was a wake-up call.
Learn the whole truth about the causes of Columbine.......2006-12-13
The Roman poet Virgil once wrote, "From a single crime, know the nation."
Brooks Brown, who knew both Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, gives a unique perspective on the root causes that may have led to the infamous Columbine massacre, a list that includes intense bullying, preferential treatment given to athletes and a culturally-ingrained intolerance for anyone deemed to be different from the status quo.
Detractors of both the book and the author seem to be entirely missing the point Brown makes in this book, i.e., the same sort of "bullying" behavior that one reads in the hostile comments left on the various reviews here are just the sort of thing that probably helped to perpetuate the hate and discontent felt at Columbine. When will people ever learn, one must ask?
All in all, this one is an excellent read and I highly recommend it for learning the whole truth behind the causes of the Columbine massacre.
You've Gone Way Over Your 15 Minutes of Fame Brooks.......2006-10-28
Forget the 13 who were murdered and all those wounded on April 20, 1999; forget the pain of their families; Forget Harris and Klebold; Forget them all because I have just realized the real victim of Columbine was Brooks Brown. It has to be so. I just read as much in 277 annoying pages.
I made a deal with myself awhile back. When I start a book I am committed to finishing it. This worthless waste of paper really tested my will.
Brown seems to have an exaggerated opinion of his 'role' in the lives of Harris and Klebold, the whole massacre in general as well as it's aftermath. And it seems that as time goes by he will do just about anything to keep his name 'out there' regarding this tragedy and that includes typing (I refuse to call it writing) this poorly planned book.
If anyone knows of an objectively written, well researched book on Columbine, drop me a line. The subject is incredibly interesting on so many levels, but unfortunately Brooks Brown doesn't touch on any of them.
Book Description
Retired police officer and occasional sleuth Luke Fitzwilliam wasn't thrilled to be stuck next to dotty old Miss Fullerton on the London-bound train. But at least she was amusing, regaling him with tall tales of "perfect murders" in the quaint village of Wychwood. When Miss Fullerton turns up dead, Luke becomes seriously worried and takes on the case. A visit to isolated Wychwood confirms his fears: There's a dark and dangerous secret that is dispatching the locals. Actor Hugh Fraser gives a captivating reading of this elaborate, engaging whodunit.

Trailer park tea cosy.......2006-10-10
Wanda Nell Culpepper is a divorced mother of three, who works two jobs to support her family, and lives in a trailer park. She and her beautician next door neighbor, Mayrene, seem real unlikely detectives, but they've now got two successful murder cases under their belts and there's probably no stopping them now. And this reader is particularly glad about that.
Ms. Evans has created a real small-town landscape in her mysteries. Everyday women with guts and common sense are solving their own problems and helping friends. Okay, they're taking the law into their own hands, but hey--that's where the fun comes in.
The story opens with Wanda Nell getting a call from her boss, Melvin, who owns the Kountry Kitchen diner where Wanda Nell works. Melvin's in jail for the murder of fellow employee Fayetta, who in Southern parlance 'deserved killing' but Wanda Nell certainly didn't want to see her boss get jailed for the crime.
So, Wanda Nell and her sleuthing partner Mayrene set out to clear Melvin's name. On the way, they discover a private men's club and enough scandal to set their small town on its ears. Plus, Wanda Nell has some surprises in store related to her son, TJ.
This novel might have deserved a five had there been more doubt in my mind as to who the murderer actually was. Also, I think Evans needs to do a better job of drawing her characters. Still, Evans has created an interesting and convincing world. I like Wanda Nell and Mayrene and I'll probably find more of her books to read.
Great new series set in a trailer park.......2006-08-17
Melvin, Wanda Nell's boss at the Kountry Kitchen restaurant, has been arrested for murdering Fayetta, another waitress. They had been dating. He asks Wanda Nell to help clear him because she helped clear her son recently when he was charged with murdering his dad. As if Wanda Nell didn't have enough to do.
Fayetta wasn't a nice person. She and Wanda didn't get along, but no one deserved to die the way she did. So, Wanda Nell decides to try to help Melvin in any way she can. She runs the Kountry Kitchen in his absence, hires Tuck as his lawyer, and does some snooping on her own.
She discovers that Melvin wasn't the only man Fayetta was dating. Plus Wanda Nell finds a bankbook with a large sum in the savings account. There was no way she made that money as a waitress. Wanda Nell works to uncover more about Fayetta's life and those she "worked" with, including a club where it didn't appear she was delivering food. But can Wanda Nell discover the truth without putting herself or her family in jeopardy?
I love this series. Wanda Nell is such a terrific character. I love how she interacts with her kids and grandson, as well as her best friend Mayrene. Tuck is a wonderful character as well. Wanda Nell's mother-in-law is as cantankerous as they come, but that makes it work so well.
The fact that Wanda Nell lives in her double wide mobile home with her 2 daughters and her 16 month old grandson lends a lot of credibility to the story. So does the fact that she has to work two jobs to make ends meet, and then it's still tough.
The setting is great and the plot has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing who did it until the end. I highly recommend this book and the series.

Mayrene strikes again~ The dynamic southern duo .......2006-07-19
Well, this one was real cute. The attitudes and local flavor of the people described could have been telling about my home town.
Mayrene is so funny and a typical "redneck" southern woman. She'll get her men back on way or another.
Cute second installment
fun regional mystery.......2006-07-05
Wanda Nell of Tullahoma, Mississippi has known hard times, the worst being when her son T.J. was arrested for killing his father. She made a lot of enemies in the police department for investigating on her own this case, but in the end she cleared her son's name. She is now very happy, living in her double wide trailer with her sixteen year old grandson as well as her daughters while Wanda Nell works part time at the supermarket and full time at a restaurant.
Wanda Nell gets a call from her boss Melvin at the jail where he was arrested for murdering his other waitress who was also his lover along with about half the men in town. She was knifed so many times that her bedroom looked like something out of a slasher movie. Wanda Nell knows he couldn't have committed such a heinous crime and she starts investigating on her own to clear his name. She finds a bankbook that has a huge sum of money in it that her peer couldn't earn on a waitress's salary, a list of powerful men she was blackmailing and a key card to a club in which the movers and shakers belong and the women do more than serve food. Both Wanda Nell and Melvin's lawyer are worried, but the spunky investigator is determined that justice will be served even if she has to do it herself.
Fans of regional mysteries are going to find MURDER OVER EASY a refreshingly original who-done-it. The characters act true to type as everyone who lives in a small southern town knows and the heroine, who usually goes with the flow, becomes an independent tornado sweeping away everything in her path as she pursues the investigation her way. Readers will thoroughly enjoy this talented woman who practices what she preaches and hope Jimmie Ruth Evans will write more stories about this intrepid heroine.

If you're not a D.V. Benard fan already, this will not make you one.......2007-08-28
Pros: The theme and content of this book is great. It tells the story of the collective unconscious that is born out of death. It makes the reader think about emotions and how they can drive the psychy, and vice versa. 'What is it like to kill someone and not feel remorse?' The themes were excellent, but the delevery was not. Firstly, the title was much too misleading. The book is not directly about murder of a significant other, it is about the mental effects that death can have over someone. The book was mis-marketed. It was pined as a story about homicidal women who bond over killing one's boyfriend. Surperfically, this does summerize the book; however the actual story is not so realistic. They don't bond over the death of the boyfriend, they bond over the fact that he won't die. This fiction novel is on the cusp of being a fairytale. It is out of the ordinary, and that would have been ok had the author organized/written the book differntly. The random stories that interrupt the plotline are generally useless to the reader. They seem to serve as space fillers in the little over 230-page story. The ending of the book was weak. There's a difference between a cliffhanger and an abrupt ending. It was poor ending to a poorly written novel - leaving the reader unsatisfy and overshadowing the complex themes behind the storyline. If you're not a D.V. Benard fan already, this book will not make you one. Benard, you really missed the mark with this one.
Expect the Unexpected.......2007-05-02
HOW TO KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND IN TEN EASY STEPS is a complicated, dark, and humorous tale about a famous psychologist and radio personality named Dr. Vera and her encounters with a woman who is a seemingly unstable fan named Stacy. When the two women meet (well really Stacy kidnaps Dr. Vera) Stacy explains she has just killed her boyfriend--and it isn't the first time. Somehow, her boyfriend comes back to life after a designated period of time, with no memory of his past. It is then up to Stacy to re-create his memory, and she often takes a bit of creative license in doing so. As the story develops readers, join Dr. Vera as she slips deeper and deeper into the reality Stacy has developed. Soon, it becomes accepted, that when things get out of hand with the boyfriend, the option of killing him and starting over exists as an easy, yet, powerful solution to the dilemma. By the time the story draws to a close, it turns out everything is much more complex than it initially appeared. The result is a story that is entertaining, unpredictable, and one heck of a wild ride.
D. V. Bernard is quickly establishing himself as a highly creative writer who can create compelling stories across genres. His use of dark comedy is effective, yet, HOW TO KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND IN TEN EASY STEPS is the kind of story readers will most likely either love or hate. There are moments when the plot stalls slightly, but throughout, the author is setting the stage for future unpredictable scenes. As the story unfolded, there were many times I felt as if I was missing some clue that would suddenly make me understand the characters more clearly, but it wasn't until the very end that I had my "Aha!" moment and I completely understood what was happening. Love it or hate it, HOW TO KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND IN TEN EASY STEPS is not a book that will easily be forgotten--if you are looking for a story that is totally fresh and unique, this is one to consider because I can pretty much promise it won't be what you expect. And as a hint, when you read, pay close attention to character names, they add to the humor because some of them share the names of other Strebor authors and staff. I liken reading this tale to going on a treasure hunt with only part of the map, as you find pieces along the way the journey seems clearer, but it isn't until you reach the treasure that everything makes sense.

funny stuff!.......2007-02-16
I got this as a gift for Valentine's. I think my boyfriend just liked the title so much he couldn't stop himself from buying it. It is a really funny book. I don't want to give away any plot details (unlike some reviewers) but if you have a "quirky" sense of humor, read this book.
Can't tell a book by it's cover...........2006-10-02
This one definitely takes you away from the average thug/love/down low stuff. It's truly imaginary and it'll give your mind a nice ride. I'd reccommend this to someone that likes variety...which is the spice of life....
IF ONLY . . . NOT!.......2006-07-17
Any woman who has had a relationship with a man would pick this book up on title alone, however be warned, it is not what you think . . . this death is not permanent. At least it is not permanent in D. V. Bernard's How to Kill Your Boyfriend in Ten Easy Steps.
This book begins when a young woman, Stacy, who claims to have killed her boy friend. She abducts Dr. Vera, a famous radio call-in host and psychologist. Like anyone with good sense, Vera tries to get away but Stacy forces her to get into a van where her boyfriend's nude corpse is. Vera is shocked by the events taking place, but she is even more undone when the boyfriend comes back to life. She almost completely loses it when she realizes this is not the first time Stacy has killed him.
After the initial insanity of it all, like a true psychologist, Vera becomes fascinated with this phenomenon and soon is under Stacy's influence. We find that every time Stacy kills her boyfriend, when he is brought back she is able to shape his memories because he only remembers what they tell him. With each death and life situation, bizarre adventures and mishaps happen and both women seem to lose a bit of themselves.
Talk about a book that comes from another place. The concept of this book is completely unique in comparison to anything I have read. Mr. Bernard does not just throw an idea at his readers and leave them to put it together for themselves, he painstakingly walks you through this alternate reality. While this is completely needed, this reader grew anxious for him to just get to the point. His use of dark comedy is done well and the comic absurdity of some things that happen kept this reader from being completely disturbed by other events.
Mr. Bernard is also very gifted in challenging social mores, which I believe comes from his sociological background. There is a section in the book where Stacy and Vera discuss morality. The basic premise is "need usurps morality." Whether you agree with that or not you will think about your belief structures and that is not a bad thing. Stacy also makes Vera question everything she knows about herself personally and the knowledge she has gained academically through random thoughts and stories. There honestly could be a development of anthology of sorts with just these "Stacy stories". At the very end of the book, Mr. Bernard gives the reader a look at one of Stacy's stories that he edited from the completed manuscript. It was wild.
Bernard is a true "wordsmith" however as with most who have this gift they can get a bit "long in the tooth." I found myself in some cases scanning through it but having to go back to fully understand. Also the resolution of the story was reminiscent of the end of a rollercoaster ride where you felt like you should have had one more loop to make it a totally awesome experience
This book is a definite read for someone who is ready for something different, has a bit of patience and open to a new way of thinking.

Book Description
Agatha Christie is more than the most popular mystery writer of all time. In a career that spans over half a century, her name is synonymous with brilliant deception, ingenious puzzles, and the surprise denouement. By virtually inventing the modern mystery novel she has earned her title as the Queen of Crime. Curious? Then you're invited to read....MURDER IS EASYIt was just Luke Fitzwilliam's luck to be stuck next to a dotty old woman like Miss Fullerton on the London-bound train-although he found himself quite entertained with her tall tales about a series of perfect murders in the quaint village of Wychwood. But when he reads the next day of the freak accident that killed her, too, Fitzwilliam's amusement turns to grave concern. A visit to the isolated village confirms his worst fears. For Wychwood seems to divided by an eccentric lot of locals: those who are in on a dark and dangerous secret-and those who don't live long enough to share it.AUTHORBIO: AGATHA CHRISTIE is the world's best known mystery writer. Her books have sold over a billion copies in the English language and another billion in 44 foreign languages. She is the most widely published author of all time in any language, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. Her writing career spanned more than half a century, during which she wrote 80 novels and short story collections, as well as 14 plays, one of which, The Mousetrap, is the longest-running play in history. Two of the characters she created, the brilliant little Belgian Hercule Poirot and the irrepressible and relentless Miss Marple, went on to become world-famous detectives. Both have been widely dramatized in feature films and made-for-TV movies.Agatha Christie also wrote under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. As well, she wrote four non-fiction books including an autobiography and an entertaining account of the many expeditions she shared with her archaeologist husband, Sir Max Mallowan. Agatha Christie died in 1976.

People seem to be dying in Wychwood-under-Ashe. There is a poisoning, a fall from a ladder, a drowning, a car accident. Each by itself seems innocuous enough, but Luke Fitzwilliam, a retired police officer, thinks something more devious is behind these apparent accidents. A novel written during Christie?
Customer Reviews:
Murder is easy, is a great book........2006-10-06
My boook I read is about murder. The main character in this book is Mr, Fitzwillia, who goes to Wynchwood in the search of a murder. He heard of this from and old lady named Miss Fullerton while they were on a plane togeather. She talked about how people died, and how she thinks it was murder. Miss Fullerton mentioned people who she thought would die, and they did. Later, the day after the pane ride, Miss Fullerton died.
Then while Mr. Fitzwhilliam was in Wynchwood he searched around for people who might have murdered those people Miss Fullerton had mentioned. He aslo had help from a woman named Bridget Conway.
My opinion on this book was that it was one of the best mystery books I have read. This book was very entertaining, and drew my attention. I think if you are looking for a book to read, you should deffinently choose, Murder Is Easy.
best myster book ever.......2006-09-23
In my opinion Murder is Easy by Agath Christie was the best mystery book I have ever read,
That is for many different reasons. One, of the main reasons and I think is because I felt this special connection between the books, real life, and most importantly is me. I also think that book should be a New York Times best seller, and it also should get a gold Newbery award for teen level murder mysteries.
What surprised me most is that this book was kind of like The Giver and I didn't seem to like The Giver when I read it. The connection that I thought the book resembled when I read this book was that it was a strong connection... it kind of felt as if I was the main character in the story but, then another part of me was saying real life, news. So, then I remembered a few weeks back on the news I remember seeing a serial killer that was caught for a chain of murders. Also, on the Discovery channel a doctor killed many people by giving them too much morphine. These vignettes made me wonder if this book was fiction or nonfiction and was it able to see what was going to happen in the future.
Another, major reason that I like this book and it should be a best seller is because I like science fiction and mystery book and what do you know it is science fiction and mystery book so if you like either one of those you will enjoy this book beyond belief. I promise you will enjoy this book.
Those are just some of the reasons I think this should be a New York Times best seller and receive Newbery gold medal award. I do recommend you get this book and read it. You will enjoy it and see what I'm talking about.
Not up to the mark.......2006-02-21
This is easily one of Agatha Chritie's worst books. The plot and mystery are almost amateurish, especially compared to her usual masterful work. The characters aren't very engaging, and there are no entertaining subplots to keep you going. This one is definitely not a keeper.
Easy to Kill, Easy to Like.......2005-09-18
As much as I enjoy Agatha Christie mysteries and her quaint, endearing sleuths, I always seem to enjoy her novels that do not have Poirot or Miss Marple as the detective much more. This is the case with "Murder Is Easy", which follows the retired policeman Luke Fitzwilliam through his trials to piece together a string of deaths that may or may not be murder. Christie's novel is well thought out, plentiful in red herrings, and a quick, enjoyable mystery.
Traveling into London by train, Luke Fitzwilliam finds himself stuck in a compartment with Miss Fullerton, a supposedly dotty old maid who instantly tells him about life in her quaint little village of Wychwood. Except that Wychwood isn't all it's cracked up to be; Miss Fullerton is certain there's a murderer on the loose and is on her way to Scotland Yard to tell them. Luke humors her and would likely forget her story, except that he discovers she was run over by a car on her way to Scotland Yard, and the man she fingered as the next victim of the murderer, suddenly dies a short time later. Now Luke is convinced that Miss Fullerton's suspicions were correct, and he sets off to Wychwood to uncover the mystery for himself.
As soon as Luke is in the village, he sets out to discover who the murderer might be, compiling lists of suspects and motives, along with any possible connections between the victims. It is a daunting task, especially when it must be done under a false cover, but the villagers are more than willing to help out. And when the murderer strikes again while Luke's in town, all certainties are thrown out the window as he tries to uncover the unlikely murderer. "Murder Is Easy" is a quick-paced read, that draws the reader into the story. I wasn't fooled by all the red herrings, as Luke tended to be, so I wasn't surprised by the ending. All in all, even if one figures out the mystery before the author takes one there, the book is still a pleasant escape into the world of one of the best mystery writers.
Topnotch Christie (spoiler alert).......2005-08-02
Christie has fun with witchcraft and the occult. The village of short-lived people is called Wychwood. Investigator Luke adopts the disguise of a writer researching witchcraft and local superstitions. The local antique dealer is suspected of dabbling in black magic. And what's that single old lady with cat up to? Christie was a skeptic with great common sense who found fashionable occultism irritating (she was a qualified pharmacist). Here, as well as giving us some well-observed characters and a mystery to solve, she uses the great sense of humour that she's not so well-known for. I love Luke's conversation with the porter when he accidentally gets off the train at a halt. "When's the next train? Where are the snows of yesteryear?" and Bridget's description of Mr Ellsworthy's weird visitors (who sadly make a fleeting appearance). If you liked this, read The Mysterious Mr. Quin (where the weirdness may be real) and The Pale Horse - another novel without her usual sleuths (apart from Mrs. Dane Calthrop) and with lashings of occultism.

Retired police officer and occasional sleuth Luke Fitzwilliam wasn't thrilled to be stuck next to dotty old Miss Fullerton on the London-bound train. But at least she was amusing, regaling him with tall tales of "perfect murders" in Wychwood. When Miss Fullerton turns up dead, mere coincidence? Luke becomes seriously worried and takes on the case. A visit to isolated Wychwood confirms his fears: There's a dark and dangerous secret that is dispatching the locals in this elaborate, engaging whodunit.
