Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Detective Peter Decker of the LAPD is stunned when he gets the report.Someone has shattered the sanctuary of a remote yeshiva community in the California hills with an unimaginable crime. One of the women was brutally raped as she returned from the mikvah, the bathhouse where the cleansing ritual is performed.
The crime was called in by Rina Lazarus, and Decker is relieved to discover that she is a calm and intelligent witness. She is also the only one in the sheltered community willing to speak of this unspeakable violation. As Rina tries to steer Decker through the maze of religious laws, the two grow closer. But before they get to the bottom of the horrendous crime, revelations come to light that are so shocking that they threaten to come between the hard-nosed cop and the deeply religious woman with whom he has become irrevocably linked.
Customer Reviews:
Good mystery, even better romance.......2006-11-25
In this, the first Pete Decker book, Faye Kellerman displays deft proficiency in both characters and settings-two of the most important facets of a detective novel. It's not only the first Decker book, it's also Kellerman's debut, a truly amazing fact when evaluating how sure-handed she is.
The story centers around Detective Decker investigating a rape at a mikvah at an Orthodox Jewish School (yeshiva) in Southern California. Concurrently, there are a series of rapes being committed nearby and it's not clear if they are connected. From the beginning, Decker finds himself drawn to Rina, a teacher at the school whose strict religious convictions won't allow her to even entertain the notion of dating a goy like Decker. But she, too, finds herself attracted to the unattainable in Decker. The book plays out as much about the mystery as the subtle love story between the two who can never consummate despite their mutual feelings. Best of all, it's satisfying in both aspects. The mystery is suitably filled with possible suspects though no obvious red herrings and the love story plays out slowly and realistically. Helping things along dramatically is the setting of the yeshiva, an environment most will find quite foreign. But Kellerman understands this and through the Decker character, makes understandable and even beautiful. The love affair is extremely satisfying, despite the book ending without real resolution between the two, making the reader want to follow the couple in their next moves. Something I will surely do.
vivid yet melodramatic.......2006-11-25
the superlatives in many of these reviews give a fair idea of what the book is like. As if rape itself is not horrible enough, it is "vicious rape." Rina is beautiful. Peter is an extremely lovable yet macho cop. Etc. And of course Rina has a tragic past; she is a young widow.
Let's face it - Rina is a Jewish Mary Sue: a character who is too perfect to be believed. She is beautiful, deeply religious, modest, open-minded as appropriate for a religious person, loving and caring, etc. Basically she does almost nothing wrong. Mary Sue is a device that beginning writers often use. In reality a woman that religious would probably not get so close to a non-Jew, but this is fiction.
Some reviewers have complained about the religion but I think it is the only thing that makes this book readable. Remove it and you have the beautiful woman in danger of rape who is threatened by unknown males and the only one in her community willing to trust the strong, yet sensitive member of the police force....and of course she has a tragic past. Cliche city. I really enjoyed the religious setting and I am not Jewish.
The mystery wasn't really much of a mystery though. I didn't think the motivations of the assailant made a whole lot of sense.
The saving grace of this book, other than the religious aspect, is that Kellerman has a sense of humor. One of my favorite parts was the joke about Marge, the cop who keeps playing musical instruments in performances even though she's terrible at it. And the part about the poodle (which is not a joke but which I won't reveal because it's a spoiler) shows that she's got a good grasp of human nature when she's not doing the Mary Sue/protective male thing.
My favorite part of the book was when Decker brought the beautiful rare books to the rabbi. I would have liked to read more like that, which showed the sacredness of the faith. The fact that I love illuminated manuscripts helps too :).
I am going to check out a couple other books in the series to see if Kellerman's tendency to engage in melodrama/Mary Sue-ism got better or worse as she went on. I think if that had been reined in, the book could have been exceptional.
loved the escape.......2006-10-27
I usually don't read mystery's book it was on my shelf I don't know why I finally picked it up after buying it a couple yrs. ago. But I am glad I did. I am a book Club moderator so I always have to do my homework and research. This I had time and I knew I just wanted to read it for fun. What a great escape read. I could see this written for a movie. Rina and Detective Decker meet when there is a rape at the Mikvah. Great read... I wonder if the author was a torah observant Jew. Some of the traditions of the mikvah are right on target.
A little heavy on the religion, but likable characters........2006-06-12
I love Jonathan Kellerman's books so much, I decided to check out the ones by his wife Faye. This is the first book in the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus series and I found it a little too heavy on the religion. Course, the whole thing centers around a rape in an Orthodox Jewish community, so religion is kind of central. I just hope the others in the series aren't quite so saturated. I like the characters, though, and kept reading to learn more about them.
Detective Peter Decker is overworked and overwhelmed by the difficult Foothill Rapist case, but when he gets called out to Jewtown, it turns out to be anything but routine. There has been a rape at the Yeshiva and Rina Lazarus has called it in. Now, in addition to his case load, Decker has to deal with the fact that he is incredibly attracted to Rina, but she is strictly orthodox and, even though she is attracted to him too, she can never have anything to do with a goy.
It's kind of exciting as Decker tries to pursue and protect Rina at the same time and I was somewhat amused by the way he finally catches the Foothill Rapist. Overall, I enjoyed it enough to want to go try some others in the series.
An award-winning debut mystery - the 1st in the outstanding Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus series.......2005-08-27
"The Ritual Bath," Faye Kellerman's debut novel introducing the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus series won the 1987 Mcavity Award for Best First Mystery.
Detective Peter Decker is called to investigate a vicious rape in a remote Orthodox Jewish Community in the California hills outside of Los Angeles. One of the women was brutally attacked as she walked home from the mikvah, the bathhouse where the cleansing ritual is performed. Rina Lazarus, the lovely young widow who discovered the victim, acts as an intermediary between Decker and the yeshiva, (a Jewish religious seminary), students and their families who are suspicious of outsiders.
Decker is also working on a case involving a brutal serial rapist with a foot fetish, who operates in an area near the yeshiva. It is a possibility that this psychopath, called the Foothill rapist, is the attacker. Or the perpetrator(s) could be a gang of teen thugs who have been responsible for anti-Semitic vandalism and violence in the past. And then there are suspects who are members of the religious community itself. From the first, it is clear that further assaults of a similar nature are more than likely to occur. The next incident, on the yeshiva grounds, is a horrific murder. As evidence accumulates, it appears that Rina is the psychopath's primary target.
Rina is a beautiful woman both outside and in. The mother of two young sons, she lost her husband, a brilliant seminary scholar, at a very young age. She is now in her late twenties and maintains the mikvah, as well as teaches mathematics, to support herself and her boys. She has not had much contact with men since her husband's untimely death, and although she and Decker are very much drawn to each other from the first, she refuses to involve herself with a man who is not an Orthodox Jew. Rina had a secular upbringing and chose to become an observant Jewess when she married.
The author deftly handles the workings of various intense personal relationships and crime solving with apparent ease. As with the other Kellerman books I read, her characters are her strength. They are truly three-dimensional and their dialogue is extremely realistic. I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery, the humanity of the characters, and details of the Orthodox Jewish customs and lifestyle.
Her mysteries are solid. No loose threads are left behind. I plan to read more of this excellent author's work and highly recommend it to others.

A Harmless Read.......2007-09-11
This is book number 5 in the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus series nd the two of them are now married and Rina is pregnant. The story really centers around Decker and his partner, Marge Dunn. Rina is in the background and plays a minor role in the development of this story and does seem somewhat extraneous. The characters are rarher well developed and the story tends to move along at a rather good pace. The plot varies from that which is expected and rather predictable to some very good double and triple turns of events. This is a good story which is a harmless read with characters that are of interest. It is fast reading even though it is somewhat forgettable. Take the book for what it is and you will have an enjoyable read.
False Prophet.......2006-11-10
I love ALL Faye Kellerman's books with Peter Decker & Rina Lazarus as the main characters. Recently I read another book where Jewish customs were an important part of the plot and realized that over the years I've learned a lot about them from reading Kellerman's books. But that's beside the point. She writes an interesting story that keeps you coming back for more. I can hardly wait until the next book. And I'm reading old books to make sure I haven't missed any.
DOUBLE DECKED.......2003-11-08
The problem with Ms. Kellerman's books is that sometimes it is difficult to adjust to the personal lives of Rina and Peter. They can find themselves in strained emotional conflicts over simple things; Peter sometimes seems so macho it's annoying, and Rina is so Jewish it's distracting. At least in this one, the plot focuses more on the mystery than the personal religious crises. Faye is good with her dialogue, and in this one she develops a few unexpected twists. However, I concur with one reviewer who felt the book just ended without any real closure. Who did kill who? And Pete's over-protection of his now pregnant wife foreshadows what type of new father he'll be. But to Kellerman's credit, I keep reading. Marge Dunn is also becoming a little too cynical and sarcastic, which is sad, because she used to be a lot more likeable.
Slow to start, but still a great book.......2003-07-13
The other reviewers seem to be mixed about this one. It's understandable. We've now read quite a few of these things (is this book 5 already?) and the honeymoon between Kellerman and the readers is definitely over. We're now reading the books not because they're as fantastic as the first one, but because we have time and emotion invested in Peter and Rina.
First, it's unfair to compare any of the Rina and Peter books to the first one. The first one was simply the best.
One of the reviewers gave a good plot summary, so I'll refrain from doing that here. Instead I'll say that the book is a little slow to start, but about midway, picks up at a tremendous pace. The characters become wonderfully complicated and Kellerman pulls quite a few tricks out of her hat which caught me by surprise. This book has its twists and turns!
One last comment. Some of Kellerman's books focus more on Peter and Rina's personal relationship, and some focus less. This one is less, for better or worse.
If you've made it to this book, chances are you'll read the next one. See you there! :-)
Complex family relationships.......2003-02-21
Faye Kellerman always has two plot strands running through her Peter Decker/Rina Lazarua Mystery Series--the personal and professional parts of their lives. In this, the fifth book of the series, Rina is pregnant and cranky. Her sons and his daughter are a bit put off by the pregnancy and Peter is wondering if he's too old to be fathering a child by his young wife. The professional part of the story deals with a case in which Lilah Brecht, the daughter of a famous actress is assaulted and raped while her mother's jewels and some important papers are stolen from her safe. She clings to Decker in a way that makes both Peter and Rina uneasy. As he delves into Lilah's life, Peter discovers a complex and dysfunctional pattern of behavior between Lilah's mother and her children. Revelation follows revelation until Peter and his partner Marge finally put all of the pieces together. Kellerman is a dependable writer who turns out complex and interesting mysteries with an emphasis on what motivates people to do the things they do.

Love this book.......2000-01-31
This is a beautiful book with wonderful recipes. I do have a word of warning, however. Although the authors include an aromatherapy section, they DO NOT list any safety data on the essential oils they use in their recipes. I highly recommend getting a real aromatherapy book before trying out the essential oils that they use in their recipes.
Beautiful book........1999-09-24
Wonderful recipes, with only one caution. Women are frequently advised not to use cornstarch in bath salts and tub teas because it can cause yeast infections on wet or damp skin.
Martha Stewart move over, the Renaissance women are here!.......1999-07-18
Kathy and Lynne have crafted a beautiful book of practical, distinctive gifts and pleasures you can create in the tranquility of your own home. Their prose is enlifting and motivating, filled with heart-warming thoughts and unique notions. Blend equal parts of science, history, magic, and emotion, bake with passion, and see the results! I was tickled by their essential oil blends and keep a vile of Neroli perfume in my purse. Now, I am unique. And I didn't stop there, I have an entire bathroom cabinet dedicated to bath oils, massage oils, bath salts, and body lotions I have created from recipes in the book. Forgot a birthday? No worry and no need to run to the store, I reach into my cabinet and give a gift worth remembering every time. I have enjoyed everything about this book and think you will too. Good crafting!
Ingenious cost effective with a touch of family........1999-01-31
I discovered my Winter 1998 Better Homes and Gardens (Bedroom & Bath ) issue a few recipes from both the A Place to Dream and Rituals for the Bath. I knew from just reading them I had everything in my home. I tried them and went crazy making them for all my family and friends. It is so terrible easy and due to my hectic work schedule anything easy is a blessing. I have turned other co-working on to this article and they too are going wild making the bath items. Everyone who loves a touch of family gifts should try both these books
A One Stop Shop for Feeling Beautiful........1998-12-17
I think this book is wonderful, in this day and age when it is hard to get a moment of rest alone, Kathy and Lynne give great ideas to make those moments special. They also have an amazing stockpile of inventive gift giving ideas. I think it is a must for every woman.

Having become interested in the whole idea of home spas and aromatherapy to soothe away the stress of everyday living, the ideas in this little book are refreshing ways to reach for peacefulness. The illustrations are pleasant and add to the relaxing, calming effect of the subject of the bath. This book is a great gift idea for friends to share.
Simplistic, yet informative.......2000-03-26
Hayden's writing style follows an easy-to-read format that is rather refreshing, for she still manages to provide a wealth of information. What I truly enjoyed was how whimsical the content and artwork is. If seeking a light but valuable bath book, one to be read in one sitting, this is for you!
